Manchester United vs Blackburn Rovers, Back to Old Trafford - Obertan debut ?

Setelah melakoni serangkaian pertandingan away ke Moscow, Anfield dan terakhir Barnsley, pasukan setan merah akan kembali menjamu lawannya di Old Trafford, Sabtu tengah malam (31/10) melawan the Rovers, club yang tidak pernah mudah untuk dikalahkan. Bahkan pernah memberikan mimpi buruk bagi United beberapa waktu lalu, hattrick terakhir yang bersarang di gawang United (Oom Van Der Sar) diderita dari seorang Bentley saat masih mengenakan jersey Rovers. Belum lagi episode berdarah-darahnya Smudge saat menghadapi Rovers.

Musim ini setelah melakoni 8 kali laga, Rovers masih nangkring di posisi # 12 klasemen sementara dengan 10 pts hasil dari 3 kali kemenangan dan 1 kali seri semuanya pada partai kandang mereka, serta sekali kalah di kandang dan 3 kali kalah saat away.

Bagi Opa Alex, melanjutkan rotasi di lapangan masih menjadi option yang perlu dipertimbangkan, mengingat setelah menjamu ini, United harus melakoni laga UCL di mid week (vs CSKA) serta another England Big Match di minggu berikutnya melawan Chelsea. Pembuktian bagi para punggawa muda United bila diberikan kepercayaan untuk merumput dengan jersey United nih. Sepertinya Opa sudah mempersiapkan Obertan untuk melakoni debut EPL-nya di partay ini, lets wait 'n see. Semoga aja daftar injury player United gak nambah.

MANCHESTER - Sir Alex Ferguson rupanya mulai gerah dengan penampilan buruk bek andalannya Rio Ferdinand. Kabar yang tersiar kini meyebutkan bahwa arsitek Manchester United itu akan mengistirahatkannya pada laga Premier League berikut.

Ferdinand kembali melakukan kesalahan saat The Reds Devils bertandang ke Anfield. Dia gagal mengawal pergerakan bomber Fernando Torres yang kemudian berakibat United harus kebobolan dan akhirnya kalah dengan skor telak 2-0.

Fegie sendiri sudah wanti-wanti kepada Ferdinand untuk segera memperbaiki penampilan. Namun apa lacur, dia tidak bisa melakukannya.

Seperti disitat The Sun, Selasa (27/10/2009) Fergie sudah tidak mau mengambil resiko lagi. Dia kabarnya akan merombak lini pertahanan dengan mengistirahatkan pemain 30 tahun itu pada laga Premier League selanjutnya.

United dijadwalkan tampil menghadapi Blacburn Rovers pada akhir pekan nanti. Asitek tim asal Skotlandia itu nampaknya lebih memilih memasang bek muda Jonny Evans untuk diduetkan dengan Nemanja Vidic ketimbang Ferdinand. (msy)

Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to hand Gabriel Obertan a Premier League debut against Blackburn this weekend following the French winger's impressive Carling Cup display against Barnsley.

Obertan, 20, made his first senior appearance for Manchester United since his £3 million summer move from Bordeaux during the 2-0 fourth-round victory at Oakwell on Tuesday.

With Portuguese winger Nani struggling to prove himself capable of filling the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo and Ji-Sung Park sidelined with a knee injury, Ferguson is set to name Obertan in his squad against Blackburn.

Having been troubled by knee and spinal injuries since his arrival in Manchester, Ferguson admitted earlier this month that United have been purposefully cautious with the youngster.

Ferguson said: "We've taken our time with Gabriel as we want him at 100 per cent. He's very quick, he can play both sides or through the middle, and he brings a real versatility to us.

"At 16 he was one of the outstanding young talents in Europe, but over this last year-and-a-half, he's been playing with a back injury. We expect big things from him. He's a nice boy, he speaks good English and he's had no problems settling in."

Danny Welbeck's progress this season could be checked as a result of a knee injury sustained against Barnsley.

The 19 year-old scored the opening goal for United before limping out of the game early in the second half and he is now awaiting the results of a scan on the injury, although United do regard the problem as serious.

Meanwhile, Wigan manager Roberto Martínez has "categorically denied" that he suggested the Football Association is afraid to punish Sir Alex Ferguson.

Martínez was reported to have claimed the FA was almost "apologising" to Ferguson for sanctioning the Scot over his comments that referee Alan Wiley was unfit to do his job.

But the Martínez insists he never made any comments about Ferguson and released a statement through the League Managers' Association which read: "Wigan Athletic manager, Roberto Martínez, has today categorically denied making the comments about Sir Alex Ferguson that have been attributed to him in a number of media reports. Martínez has referred the matter to the League Managers' Association."

Ferguson has admitted to the FA's charge of improper conduct and has asked for a personal hearing.

After stuttering at Anfield, the Reds aim to get back on track against struggling Rovers...

Form guide Blackburn haven't won on the road in the league this season, and they're leaking an alarming number of goals. A 3-2 triumph in the derby against Burnley, which came between a 6-2 defeat to Arsenal and last weekend's 5-0 hammering at Chelsea, provides some hope, as has their 5-2 midweek victory over Peterborough in the Carling Cup. But 15 goals conceded in the last four games is hardly the best preparation for a trip to OT. United on the other hand, have dropped points in two of the last three league games, and will be desperate to get last Sunday's Anfield defeat out of the system.

Manager Good friend of Sir Alex, Sam Allardyce has a big job on his hands at Ewood Park, not least with Blackburn sitting uncomfortably in 16th place in the league. That said, just five points separate Wigan in 10th and Hull in 18th places, so they could easily climb the table if Big Sam can cure Rovers' leaky defence. He's not been in contact with his players this week as he feels the affects of a virus. Rovers are trying to contain an outbreak of swine flu, so Sam sat in the stands for their win over Posh.

Ins and outs Blackburn have seemingly restricted the swine flu problem, with defender Christopher Samba still struggling. But Rovers say they are monitoring the situation day-by-day. Right-back Pascal Chimbonda (calf) and midfielder Vince Grella (thigh) are also doubts. United will be without Ji-sung Park (knee) while Darren Fletcher has yet to play since injuring his foot on international duty with Scotland.

Star man David Dunn. He's scored five goals in eight games playing 'in the hole' just behind the strikers this season, and doing it to great effect. He was one of those who came down with a virus this week, but came on as a substitute against Peterborough and will be the main threat on Saturday.

Referee Phil Dowd. First United match he's officiated this season. His last game in charge of United was our 2-0 defeat to Fulham in March last year, in which he sent off Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney.

Gabriel Obertan could be in line to make his Barclays Premier League debut against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

The French winger made his Reds bow in Tuesday's Carling Cup triumph at Barnsley, and Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed that he may again be involved against Sam Allardyce's side this weekend.

"It was Gabriel’s first real game on Tuesday," Sir Alex told his pre-match press conference on Friday. "He’s had a few runouts for the Reserves but I think it’s too early for him to start tomorrow. It depends on injuries – he may get on the bench."

Although glimpses of the 20-year-old winger have been fleeting so far, Sir Alex is in little doubt of Obertan's pedigree.

"He’s settled in well and he definitely has ability – he has marvellous pace, which is always important in football today," said the manager.

"He’s overcome his injury, which is the most important thing. He didn’t know about his injury when he signed him and we’ve picked it up. Hopefully we’ve corrected it."

Sir Alex Ferguson is refusing to dwell on finishing second best to Liverpool last Sunday, and intent on looking forward, heartened after an inexperienced Manchester United side overcame Barnsley in the Carling Cup in midweek.

However, Sir Alex could be without defenders Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, who
both have calf injuries, against Blackburn at Old Trafford on Saturday.

'They will both want to play after the disappointment of last Sunday,' said Ferguson.

'I spoke to Sam before the Chelsea game and he had concerns about the flu,' added Ferguson.

'He had players missing but David Dunn was back during the week and maybe others will be fit. Flu does happen but so far we are okay.

'I am not sure what kind of team Sam will be able to pick but it will be a hard game as it is a local derby.

Do United or Rio and Vidic Need To Worry?

Reports today suggest that both Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand are doubtful for Saturday’s match at home to Blackburn Rovers, presumably meaning we will have to rely on Jonny Evans and Wes Brown to play in the centre of our defence.

Vidic and Rio have been criticised for their recent form, particularly in light of the Liverpool game, when Rio was out-muscled and out-run by Fernando Torres, and Vidic was sent off for his third Liverpool game in the row.

In contrast, Evans grows with confidence and competence with every game, whilst Wes put in a great shift against Barnsley and finally is starting to look recovered from his latest bout of injuries.

Mistakes at the back have put a dampener on our season so far, particularly thanks to Ben Foster and Rio Ferdinand, with the incredible defensive record of last season certainly a thing of the past. Our defence this season can only boast matching that of City’s and Stoke’s, which is pretty woeful. Two goals at home against Sunderland should be enough for three points, just as three goals at home to City should be.

Maybe Vidic and Rio need the pressure of competition to raise their game so I’m all for a new defensive partnership coming in this weekend. We’re blessed with centre-backs at our club and whilst I’d prefer Vidic-Rio to improve and leave the right-back space for Wes, I’ve no objections to him having a go in the centre and putting the pressure on.

Of course, Edwin Van der Sar adds more stability to the back four and hopefully we’ll see an improvement in general with him in the side, but the days when Rio and Vidic are guaranteed a starting place in the team may be gone after this weekend if Wes-Evans prove to be a success.

So, I’m not too sure whether it’s United that should be worrying this weekend about playing without their first choice centre-backs, or whether it’s Rio-Vidic that should be nervous over retaining their starting places.

In other defensive team news, Gary Neville is suspended thanks to his straight red card against Barnsley in the week, meaning the right-back spot is up for grabs between John O’Shea and Rafael da Silva. Rafael didn’t have the best game of his career in the centre of our midfield against Barnsely and is currently awaiting news over the yellow card he deserves, after Fabio was booked for his foul.

Fergie: yang Penting Ada Van der Sar

VIVAnews - Pekan ke 11 di Premier League akan dijalani Manchester United dengan menjamu Blackburn Rovers di Old Trafford. Berbekal jatah tuan rumah rupanya tidak membuat Setan Merah mudah dalam menjalani laga ini.

Sebab untuk laga ini hampir dipastikan kalau tiga pemain belakang MU absen karena berbagai alasan. Nemanja Vidic dan Rio Ferdinand masih berjuang lepas dari cedera. Sedangkan Gary Neville terkena larangan tampil.

Satu-satunya yang membuat manajer Sir Alex Ferguson adalah kehadiran kembali kiper Edwin Van der Sar. Asalkan ada kiper jangkung itu, kata Fergie, ia yakin MU masih bisa memenangi laga tersebut.

"Kami menjalani musim yang sama persis seperti tahun lalu. Banyak cedera di lini belakang, dan dari waktu ke waktu tapi tetap saja kami menjalani 14 pertandingan tanpa kebobolan," kata Fergie pada The World Game, Sabtu 31 Oktober 2009.

"Kuncinya adalah Van der Sar sudah kembali. Penjaga gawang yang luar biasa dan fantastis," tambahnya.

Van der Sar memang baru kembali pasca dibekap cedera. Selama absen, jala Setan Merah dijaga kiper Ben Foster. Sayangnya kiper Inggris itu gagal tampil memukau.

Bahkan di beberapa partai, termasuk ketika melawan Manchester City, Foster melakukan blunder. Ini membuat Fergie ragu menempatkannya kembali dan lebih memilih Van der Sar.

Setan Merah memang membutuhkan kemenangan ini. Sebab di klasemen sementara, MU sudah tergeser oleh
Chelsea dari puncak klasemen. Dengan selisih hanya dua angka, maka kemenangan ini menjadi kata wajib bila ingin merebut kembali tahta dari The Blues.

Hasil yang cukup baik untuk bekal ke Stamford Bridge Minggu depan. Obertan masuk n rasa penasaran gw selama ini akhirnya terjawab sudah. Obertan butuh banyak jam terbang nih, kaki kanan nya buruk. Harusnya ada satu gol dari dia tadi tapi disia2 kan dia. Di awal awal cukup grogi, keliatan banget dari driblenya yang berantakan dan umpan2 salah. Butuh banyak waktu tapi cukup menjanjikan.

MANCHESTER, KOMPAS.com - Penyerang Dimitar Berbatov dan Wayne Rooney mencetak gol yang menentukan kemenangan Manchester United 2-0 atas Blackburn Rovers dalam lanjutan Premier League, di Stadion Old Trafford, Sabtu (31/10). Kini MU berada di posisi kedua dengan 25 poin atau hanya berselisih dua angka dari Chelsea di puncak klasemen.

Kemenangan itu membuat Manchester United kembali ke urutan kedua. Beberap saat sebelumnya, posisi mereka sempat digeser Arsenal yang menang 3-0 atas Tottenham Hotspur. MU pun kembali memepet posisi Chelsea yang kini di puncak klasemen dengan nilai 27, hanya selisih dua poin.

Manchester United memang tampil agresif sejak menit awal. Bermodal permainan kolektif dan solid, mereka mampu memaksa lawan bertahan, nyaris tanpa kesempatan menyerang.

Sayangnya, tekanan MU membuat Blackburn tak punya pilihan selain bertahan. Hal ini membuat MU kesulitan menylipkan serangan berbahaya. Jangankan menembak, untuk sekadar mengumpan kawan saja, MU sering gagal, karena bola keburu dipotong atau dibuang lawan.

Baru ketika permainan memasuki menit ke-30, MU mulai bisa menyelipkan sejumlah peluang. Pada menit ke-31, misalnya, Dimitar Berbatov berhasil menanduk bola kiriman Antonio Valencia. Sayangnya, meski tepat sasaran, bola masih bisa diamankan Paul Robinson.

Di menit ke-43, MU juga berpeluang mencetak gol melalui Wayne Rooney. Saat itu, Rooney berhasil menguasai bola di depan tiang kiri gawang Blackburn. Namun, begitu ia menembakkan bola ke gawang, kaki bek Gael Givet membelokkan arah bola keluar sasaran.

Meski terus menuai kegagalan, MU pantang menyerah. Toh, mereka harus berlapang dada menerima hasil imbang 0-0 di akhir 45 menit pertama.

MANCHESTER, KOMPAS.com - Pelatih Manchester United Sir Alex Ferguson kembali memuji kesabaran para pemainnya untuk mencetak gol pada pertandingan sulit. Demikian pula yang terjadi saat MU mengalahkan Blackburn Rovers, Sabtu (31/10).

MU sebagai tuan rumah semestinya bisa unggul lebih dari dua gol dalam laga di Old Trafford tersebut. Namun, variasi peluang yang dimiliki Dimitar Berbatov selalu mengalami kegagalan di sepanjang babak pertama.

Berba akhirnya baru bisa mencetak gol pada menit ke-55. Gol itu indah dan menyenangkan Ferguson. Ditambah dengan gol Wayne Rooney di pengujung laga, MU akhirnya menang 2-0. Inilah buah kesabaran para "Setan Merah" untuk mencari kemenangan setelah ditekuk Liverpool pada laga sebelumnya.

RoM Reaction To Blackburn Victory

By the time the final whistle blew today I was wondering when United were going to get started. That’s the measure of Champions isn’t it, being able to win when still in first gear? Well that’s all fine and well but with Chelsea and Arsenal building up their goal differences each week, we could do with battering the teams we totally outplay. And that’s what happened today. We totally outplayed Blackburn because like their fans, the players just didn’t show up today. We’re just down the road, where were all their fans? I swear we had more in the away end at the bloody Luzhniki in Moscow the other day!

Still, we carved out several good chances today and Gabriel Obertan will be holding his head in his hands when he watches Match of the Day tonight, christ! I was too busy celebrating his goal before realising he hadn’t even got it on target. Dreadful miss but an encouraging start in his home début. He used his pace to beat his opponent down the left wing, something I wish Nani had done more of. I still stand by my defence of Nani but I wish he would make my life easier! I don’t mean that he was dreadful, because he wasn’t, he was fine. But he can be so much better. The ball would come to him in space and our attacking players would be racing forward and Nani would have a little jog. Come on, you’re one of the fastest players in the whole squad, you’ve got brilliant feet, bloody run at that left back!

Michael Carrick had a surprising game today. His passing wasn’t good enough, again, but he was sticking the boot in a lot more usual and winning challenges I wouldn’t have fancied him for. We’ve got to be looking at him to replace the creativity of Scholesy in the centre of the park and since signing him, he’s shown he’s more than capable to fulfil that role. But this season he’s been so below par. He missed a cracking opportunity to play Rooney in during the first half but he bottled it and went for the wide ball instead.

Will the Stretford End please stop telling Anderson to shooooooooot. The one chance he did take today was woeful and even brought about chuckles from the crowd. You have to wonder about him shitting on Fabregas when you see goals like the one Cesc scored today. Will Anderson ever score a goal like that for us? I would settle for him hitting the target to be honest! All in all he had a good game though and his ball to Wayne Rooney for the goal was absolutely perfect.

Rooney had a quiet game and didn’t do too much to impress. His problem is he thinks of things other players don’t even dream about which means he tries stupid balls which don’t always work. But I suppose that’s something that sets him apart from so many other players because when it does work, it’s sublime. He took his goal really well though so I hope that is just warming him up for Chelsea next weekend. When is Colleen going to pop by the way? Would you let him off the baby rocking celebration if it came after putting the ball past Petr Cech?

Dimitar Berbatov, you are a genius. With every magical goal you score I look around to try and find the fans who were grumbling and complaining about you. How many other players in this league would have scored that goal? It was a half-chance at best and he turned it in to an unstoppable effort. Keep it coming please Berb.

Evans and Wes put in a good performance in the centre to give the manager a headache for our next match. Whilst Blackburn didn’t attack our box in a traditional sense, they opted for set pieces from every freekick they won, whether it was outside our box or theirs. How bizarre to see a goalkeeper pumping the ball in to the box from a freekick their team won for offside! Still, none of those balls posed any problem for Van der Sar because our defence dealt with it. Still the only team not to concede from a set piece. Really, it’s unbelievable isn’t it?

I’m saving the best until last though. Antonio Valencia was my man of the match. The two goals he’s got under his belt have really added to his confidence and whilst having the weaker full-back to support his runs, he really posed a threat to the Blackburn defence. He’s still not the finished product and I think we’ve got a lot of improvement still to come, but he is running at defenders and taking on two at a time and it’s great to see.

So, not a great performance but it was good enough to get the three points. Do we have it in us to raise our game a few levels to get a result against Chelsea? Well, we have to and I’m relying on the return of Ryan Giggs and Darren Fletcher to help us with that.

2. Lini tengah bener2 Rule the game..pergerakan anderson dan umpan ciamik dari carrick bener2 membantu serangan united dan sayap kanan bener2 hidup dipegang oleh vale;;)
tapi sayap kiri? OMG nani kembali melakukan gerakan cr7 wannabe dan umpannya kurang bs diharapkan...dan sialnya baru menit 60 doi udah mesti cabut dan yeah anak muda yang kita harapkan dapat back up giggs di sayap akhirnya main OBERTAN!!! tapi sayangnya doi sangat gugup dan masih harus blend dengan para skuad inti..but he better than nani;;)

3. Brown and Oshea koq mainnya kurang greget ya di pertahanan? kita selalu kalah bola atas dan sapuannya kurang bersih...berbahaya klo lawan tim sekelas chelsea next week:crazy:....Evra masih yang terbaik di kiri..pergerakan,passing dan pressingnya bener2 ciamik tenan....bek yang selalu konsisten walau selalu kalah klo bola atas:hammer:

Van der Sar - Ferguson says there’s no one better – but the United manager himself could have kept goal against Blackburn, such was Rovers’ lack of threat. 7

Evra - Was allowed to get forward as often as he liked and how he punished Blackburn with one probing run after another. It was his cross-come-shot that set up Berbatov’s goal. 8

Brown - Lucky to get away with a miscue when under the challenge of Di Santo, but otherwise untroubled at the back. 7

Evans - Clattered when challenging Samba early on, but that was about as tough as it got for the Northern Ireland international, who will hope he now gets an extended run in the first team. 7

O’Shea - Brilliant tackle denied Diouf when through on goal early on, but much of his good work was done supporting Valencia in attack. 7

Nani - Endured some rough stuff from Rovers’ defenders, but kept getting up gamely. Still frustrates when in promising positions and should have done better with a first half header. 6

Carrick - Neat and tidy without every finding the defence-splitting passes he is capable of. Alongside Anderson, controlled the midfield. 7

Anderson - Harassed and harried in midfield to boss the centre of the park and it was his cross that led to Rooney’s goal. 7

Valencia - Increasingly looking at home in the red of United. Missed one good opportunity early on, but his inch perfect first half cross to Berbatov deserved a better finish from the Bulgarian. 7

Rooney - Responsible for the pass of the match when finding Valencia out wide with a perfectly-weighted volley, and a delightful finish killed off what little chance Blackburn had of mounting a comeback. 7

Berbatov - Superb touch and finish fired United ahead and helped erase thoughts of a first half in which he might have scored a hat-trick, if not for some wasteful finishing. 8

Substitutes

Obertan (for Nani, 63) - Making his home debut, could have made himself an instant hero when presented with a golden opportunity in the last 10 minutes, but shot wide from eight yards out. Still some good touches added up to a promising start. 6

Owen (for Berbatov 79) - Should have scored his second goal in a week but fired late chance wide. 6

Jujur, permainan United membaik di pertandingan ini. Faktor lawan yang tidak terlalu kuat sepertinya bisa jadi alasan meskipun sebenarnya Blackburn cukup merepotkan United dalam beberapa musim terakhir. Kuartet back four sepertinya meragukan kalau untuk melawan tim besar, hanya Duet Evra dan O'Shea yang bermain bagus. Johnny Evans dan Brown sering gugup meladeni serangan blackburn, untung lawan memilih bertahan. Secara umum permainan United di babak pertama berhasil dihambat oleh lawan sampai sepuluh menit terakhir baru United berhasil menekan.
Duet Ando dan MC16 di tengah berhasil menemukan irama permainan solid mereka lagi setelah beberapa pertandingan off banget. Sayangnya serangan dari sisi sayap payah banget, terutama di kiri, Nani seperti kehilangan sihirnya yang ajaib. Obertan terlalu bersemangat sampai grabak grubuk kayak gitu.. hehehe...
Untungnya Berba lagi naik nih.. golnya menyambut umpan Evra bagus banget, dan telak di sudut membuat Robinson hanya bisa bengong. Gol kedua Rooney menyambut (lagi-lagi) umpan Evra, makin menegaskan dominasi United. Owen dan Obertan juga nyaris menggandakan keunggulan, sayang meleset..
Over all bagus meski belum seperti United dua musim sebelumnya.
