Young Red Ravel a net hit
Bethan Dorsett
FEBRUARY 06, 2009
FOOTBALLING wunderkind Ravel Morrison has only just turned 16 – but the Manchester United youth player has been hailed as the stuff of legend.
The fast-footed Urmston teenager is already proving an internet sensation, scoring thousands of fans logging on to see him at work – and some even think he’ll be the next Ronaldo.
St Antony’s Catholic College student Ravel was just nine when bosses at Old Trafford noted his talents.
And despite his tender age, he is already proving a rising star on the pitch with an impressive track record which has seen him speed past the likes of Liverpool and Everton to triumph for the under-18 team in recent months.
Already playing for the England under-16s, his ambition is to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Rooney and Ferdinand by becoming both Manchester United and England’s star player. But he is surprised about the praise heaped on him by United fans.
“I don’t know what the fuss is about,” said. “I find it funny.”
While Ravel plays his talents down, his efforts have not gone unnoticed among fans, 10,000 of whom have so far logged on to see what they think is Fergie’s best kept secret on video website YouTube.
After watching the clip of him in action against Chelsea, some of the fans go on to sing the midfielder’s praises, one stating he has the “skill of Ronaldo, the speed of Theo Walcott and the finishing of Ruud van Nistelrooy.”
Another YouTube user clearly thinks “he’s going to be a legend.”
While Ravel was left baffled by the comparisons to some of the club’s legendary players, he would like to follow in the footsteps of one particular star.
“I admire Rio Ferdinand,” he said. “He’s a really good player.”
She may not see much of her son at the moment, given that he splits seven days of the week between the pitch and the classroom, but mum Sharon Ryan is full of praise for Ravel.
The 39-year-old, who has two younger sons, seven-year-old Rio and five-year-old Zeon, said: “I am extremely proud of him.
“I watch him all the time on TV, though he’s never here because he goes away a lot, especially with England.
“I know he’s really good, otherwise they wouldn’t have signed him up for another three years.”
Teaching assistant Bernie White is Ravel’s mentor at St Antony’s, in charge of working with the club to make sure the teenager has time for his studies.
She said: “His talent is amazing. I go along to see him along with the other teachers and we can’t believe it.
“He is really modest about his abilities though and never shows off.
“We have a great relationship with Man United and our job is to work together to make sure he’s supported in the last academic year.”

‘The Boy’s Got Skills’ – Man United’s Ravel Morrison

Ravel Morrison is quickly becoming a human highlight reel
Manchester United has a fine history of producing young talent, from the Busby Babes of the mid 1950s to Fergie’s Fledglings from the early 90s, a steady stream of gifted players have risen through the ranks.
Last season saw the emergence of Danny Welbeck and Kiko Macheda with Welbeck scoring a wonder strike on his debut against Stoke then Macheda’s all too memorable last minute match winning goal against Aston Villa which many considered to be the turning point of Manchester United’s season (he would then score against Sunderland in the following game to again grab 3 points for United).
Yet United have another player on their books possibly more talented than both and is being touted as the next big thing. It’s easy for such claims to be thrown about but when you actually see Ravel Morrison play, you will know why.
The young midfield is being touted by United insiders as one for the future and Daily Telegraph football correspondent Henry Winter already rates him above Jack Rodwell and Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere. But what is it that they have seen in him?
Playing as either a central midfielder or a winger, Morrison has pace to burn often leaving opposing players for dead with his quick feet and silky skills. He has good passing both long and short range and this is aided by his vision to pick out team mates in promising positions. Another thing that is appealing about him is that he has an aggression when attacking that is quite awesome thus he has a knack for getting goals, which is never a bad thing for a midfielder. At just 16 he is obviously still growing but his size is not a problem as his other attributes help him evade his opposition.
He has already represented England at u16 level capping a memorable appearance with goal against Northern Ireland in last year’s Victory Shield and has now moved on to the u18 squad.
But as they say every genius has their flaw and Morrison is no exception. When 17 year old Rob Brady was interviewed by ManUtd.Com he was asked ‘who is the worst trainer?’ To which Brady replied, “I’ll say Ravel Morrison. When he’s on his game he’s quality. But I reckon it’s just when he fancies it!”
Slightly more worrying than this is that he was reportedly in a car pulled over by the police that was said to have held a gun as well as drugs. Under Ferguson’s watchful gaze things like motivation and laziness in training can be taken care of but an issue such as that can only be solved by Morrison himself.
He is a precocious talent and under Sir Alex Ferguson he can only get better, its seems it’s just a matter of if he applies himself.

Man Utd’s 16yo Morrison tipped for early senior breakthrough
18.11.09 | tribalfootball.com
Manchester United hero Arthur Albiston says 16 year-old Ravel Morrison could be pushing for first team selection in the next 12 months.
Albiston rates the teenage midfielder very highly and told the Manchester Evening News: "The 16-year-old from Wythenshawe is a special talent. I have seen him on numerous occasions make opponents look stupid with his skill.
"He has got effortless ability to be able to switch the ball from each foot at speed. He dribbles and weaves, sets up goals and scores and makes it all look so smooth and easy.
"He is going to become a target for getting kicked but he'll have to learn to cope with that. If he keeps developing the way he has done it wouldn't surprise me to see him given some opportunities in the first team next season if not before."

Manchester United boy star gun bust
By John Kelly 3/05/2009
A Manchester United wonderkid has been caught up in a guns and drugs bust.
Budding star Ravel Morrison, 16, a midfielder in Sir Alex Ferguson's under-18 team, was in a car stopped by police.
Officers are believed to have found guns and drugs in the vehicle before arresting three people.
It will infuriate strict United boss Sir Alex, especially as Morrison, who has also played for England under-16s, has been compared to Ronaldo and Theo Walcott.
Morrison was in a car in Whalley Range, Manchester when it was stopped at 5pm on Friday.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "Three occupants of the vehicle were detained.
They are being questioned about offences under the Firearms Act and the Misuse of Drugs Act."
The spokesman refused to say whether Morrison was one of the three arrested.

What’s The Big Deal About Ravel Morrison?
-ROM
Ravel Morrison has been handed shirt number 49 ahead of Manchester United’s League Cup game against Wolves tonight. This came as somewhat of a surprise considering the manager is keen to keep him out of the limelight and the hushed concerns over his attitude.
Whilst his off field persona needs cleaning up, people can’t speak highly enough of the Longsight lad’s ability on the pitch. From fans watching the Reserves, to referees at academy level, to rival coaches at clubs like Liverpool, to the press, this lad is repeatedly tipped for the top.
He may just be an unused sub and we’ll have to wait longer for his début, but for Ferguson to put him in the squad perhaps indicates a change in the youngster’s attitude. This 17-year-old has already got plenty of people talking.
The Independent – Five young players to watch in 2010
A powerful young footballer who can play in midfield, on the left wing and off the main striker, he has the ability to make it one day in the United first team – and he might just be in contention for a Carling Cup place next season.
He certainly has all the natural attributes of strength and pace. Once Morrison gets his chance for United he will face inevitable comparisons with the likes of Ryan Giggs but there are plenty who feel he has what it takes.
Stretford End – Reserve profile
His obvious strength is his style of play. He possesses skills but he enjoys teasing opposition players by giving them half a chance to get close or win the ball. He is quick but has a very handy sudden burst of pace that he uses to skip away from players having drawn them in with his lazy style. He plays with a very nonchalant attitude, he rarely looks like he is in a hurry but he is able to spring counter attacks so quickly. These strange factors put together make him unique to watch and a nightmare to play against. Of the more basic footballing skills, he excels when it comes to passing. He has a superb range and plays with his head up often trying balls that don’t appear to be possible. He’s always looking and calling for the ball so he can control the tempo of the game. He’s not afraid to shoot and has found the net from long range on a few occasions. Although he sits deep he times his runs into the opposition penalty area very well and is particularly good at halting a run to find space just on the edge of the area. Finally he has a good physique. He is still young and will have a lot of physical development to go but over the summer he looks to have broadened and added some muscle to his frame.
Stretford End Arising
Ravel Morrison happens to be one of the most naturally gifted players ever to come through the academy at Manchester United. Ravel’s skills bring to mind Cristiano Ronaldo, as he’s known to produce sublime moments of magic suddenly from nothing. He is capable of playing down either wing, as a striker or as an attacking midfielder behind the striker. He has pace to burn and is known to have a party trick.
Ravel is currently only 17 years old, he has already signed professional forms and is currently playing for the reserve side. Ravel though had been known to have had some troubles in his past, which he seems to have solved. The start of the 2010-11 season has so far seen a more mature and responsible Ravel. He seems to have developed physically over the summer as well.
Ravel has been prolific so far in the pre-season and has become a regular fixture in the reserve team – very impressive for someone so young, clearly showing how highly he is rated within the club. His performances during pre-season have been excellent – if he is able to maintain this form, a call up to the seniors won’t be entirely unexpected. Morrison might be a key player for England too in the coming years.
Henry Winter – What Sir Alex has done for English football deserves respect
[Sir Alex Ferguson should be credited with] cultivating Ravel Morrison as a potential gem for 2014.
Better than Kieran Gibbs and Jack Wilshere, certainly up there with Jack Rodwell, if Morrison does emerge as the pre-eminent English footballer of his generation, it will be because of a certain Scot’s shrewd guidance.
Mark Ogden – Can Sir Alex’s starlets raise the bar?
King, Cofie and Keane are proving prolific goalscorers, while Petrucci and Pogba are showing signs of developing into dominant midfielders whose progress will not be kept under wraps for too much longer.
But the real excitement surrounds Ravel Morrison. Born in nearby Wythenshawe, is already a star of YouTube as a result of the stunning goals he has scored from midfield.

On the Bench ... With Ravel Morrison, Man United's Latest Hot Prospect
24/11/2010 6:35 AM GMT By Neil Johnston
There are numerous Manchester United players who enjoy 15 minutes of fame at Old Trafford before leaving never to be heard of again.
But Ravel Morrison is hoping his 30 seconds in the spotlight is just the start of a blossoming career that will eventually establish him as a household name.
Morrison did not know whether to laugh or cry when he made his debut for holders United during the recent Carling Cup tie with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Sir Alex Ferguson rewarded the 17-year-old attacking midfielder for a string of eye-catching performances in the reserves by handing Morrison his debut as a substitute in the fourth round tie at Old Trafford.
The trouble for Morrison was that there was just half a minute of injury time remaining, and his all-too-brief first-team experience ended without him touching the ball.
Yet it has left the Manchester-born talent, who has been likened to Everton's Jack Rodwell and Arsenal's Jack Wilshere, wanting more.
And judging by his rapidly expanding fan club, which includes Wes Brown, Morrison appears to have a terrific career ahead of him as long as he continues to work hard.
"Ravel's a great player," enthused United defender Brown after the 3-2 win over Wolves. "He's been training with us, on and off, since the start of the season.
"I think the gaffer really likes him, he's very talented and he'll obviously be delighted to have come on, even if it was for just a couple of minutes and he didn't touch the ball.
"He's a good lad and hopefully he can keep on progressing."
A powerful young footballer who can also play on the left wing and off the main striker, young Morrison shot to prominence as a schoolboy two years ago and scored in United's FA Youth Cup defeat to Chelsea in November 2008.
He signed professional forms with United on his 17th birthday and, after comfortably making the step up to the reserves, he was rewarded with a senior squad number (49) in October.
Ferguson has supplied England with a string of players in the past and there are many who believe that Morrison is a potential gem for the 2014 World Cup.
Some of the 40,000-odd United fans present inside Old Trafford for the Wolves tie expressed disappointment that Ferguson did not give Morrison a longer run out.
Every second counts, yet 30 seconds is no time to make a judgement.
But make no mistake, United fans will get see much more of Morrison in the future.

Ravel Morrison's Manchester United future hanging in the balance
# guardian.co.uk, Tuesday 18 January 2011 23.00 GMT
Daniel taylor
• Off-field issues prompt club to hold talks over Morrison's future
Manchester United are holding top-level talks to determine whether Ravel Morrison has a future at Old Trafford because of off-field issues affecting one of the more promising young players to come through the club's ranks since Sir Alex Ferguson's "golden generation".
Morrison, 17, made his debut for the first team in October, coming on as a substitute in the Carling Cup fourth-round tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The teenager is rated as one of the more naturally talented players to emerge from the youth academy since the breakthrough of Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes but his career at Old Trafford is now in the balance.
Morrison, who turned professional on his 17th birthday last February and has represented England at Under-18, Under-17 and Under-16 level, has not been involved in United's past two reserve fixtures. The club are considering all options for the left-sided attacker and a decision will be made in the next two weeks.

Ravel Morrison, Manchester United's problem prodigy
Ravel Morrison is a supremely talented young player with an attitude that worries some of those trying to help him
http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Admin/BkFill/Default_image_group/2011/2/19/1298134852628/Soccer---Carling-Cup---Fo-007.jpg
The chances are you may never have seen him play but, at Manchester United, they are already talking about him being the most naturally talented footballer to come through their ranks since a young Paul Scholes skipped into view. His name is Ravel Morrison: 18 years old, supremely talented and tipped to be one of the pre-eminent English footballers of his generation. Morrison scored a beautiful goal to help United reach the FA Youth Cup quarter-finals last week and was in Sir Alex Ferguson's mind for a place in the squad for the FA Cup tie against Crawley, though he did not make the bench. In ordinary circumstances, it should be a time for celebration, of toasting the future in contemplation of a prodigious career and vast earning power.
Yet the Morrison story is not that simple. What United hoped would never become public knowledge is that, three weeks ago, Morrison stood in the dock of Trafford youth court, alongside two accomplices, waiting to find out if he was to be sent to a young offenders' institution.
Morrison had admitted two charges of intimidating a witness. He had subjected the victim of a knifepoint robbery to a two-day ordeal in an attempt to stop him giving evidence at the trial of his muggers. He had been warned he could face a spell in detention and, with that, United would almost certainly have given up on him. Instead, Morrison was given another chance: the judge decided on a 12-month referral order, warning him that if he did not comply he would be sentenced to a year behind bars. He was told his behaviour had been "appalling" and this was his last chance. What happens next? It is difficult to predict.
Morrison, in terms of ability, is the real deal: balance, speed, control, vision, flair, strong on either foot, an eye for a pass and a prolific scorer for a wide, left-sided player. One clip on YouTube encapsulates what he does best: a preposterous trick to bamboozle an opponent from the Blackburn youth team, incorporating a triple drag-back and a backheeled nutmeg. Let's not judge a player on internet footage, but this was a moment that would have brought Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to their feet. "Silks", as Rio Ferdinand calls it.
He has played for England at under-16, under-17 and under-18 level and made his United debut, as a substitute, in the Carling Cup tie against Wolves in October. One FA Youth Cup tie in 2008 prompted the Times to wonder "when [we] last saw such balance and daring from an English 15-year-old". The Daily Telegraph has tipped him as "a potential gem for 2014 [World Cup]." The Independent identified Morrison in a feature about 'Five Young Players to Watch in 2010.'
He is not the first young footballer to end up in court. The club's view is that the good outweighs the bad and they are determined to give Morrison the help he needs, in all parts of his life. "The club does not in any way condone Ravel's actions, but he is a very talented player with a bright future ahead of him," a spokesman said. "The right thing to do now is to support him and help him in the process of his rehabilitation."
Even so, there is a genuine concern at United that he has fallen in with the wrong crowd and is in danger of frittering away what could be a dazzling career. Two of his friends were locked up for the robbery. The court was told Morrison subjected the victim of the mugging to threatening phone calls ("you don't know what I'm capable of") over the course of two days a year ago and was among three teenagers who threatened the boy on the street. The three later appeared in the victim's front garden in the early hours. They were chased away but then came back in a mob of 15 to 20 people. A brick was thrown through the window. The victim was so traumatised his family have put the house up for sale and want to leave Manchester.
Since the verdict Ferguson and his coaching staff have spent many hours debating how to handle the teenager, and are still uncertain of what is best. There are already stories of Morrison missing training, or turning up late for matches. "There's always something going on with him," has become a popular refrain.
More seriously, his temperamental nature and apparent dislike of authority have manifested themselves on the training ground. It is said Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, then the reserve-team manager, had to intervene in one incident. The teenager is described as someone who acts impulsively and does not think of the consequences, a fragile personality in need of a role model.
Morrison was born in Wythenshawe, a sprawling council estate on the southern tip of Manchester. He lives with his grandparents, Chris and Maureen Carlway, in Denton, five miles to the east of Manchester, while his mother, Sharon Ryan, still takes an active part in his life but lives in another part of the city with her two younger boys, Rio and Zeon.
Morrison has contemplated moving out, complaining that he does not like being under the watch of his grandmother, but the club would rather he stayed in the company of adults, and it is said that Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville have both offered to take him in at different points.
His friends, like many lads of 17 and 18, tend to hang around on bikes, wearing hooded tops and dark clothing. Morrison himself wore a hoodie to one court appearance. For his sentencing, he looked what he was: a teenager in Nike trainers and a tie knotted Grange Hill-style, ie as short as possible. There was no emotion when the judge told him he was being spared detention. However, Morrison seemed appalled when he was informed he had to pay costs, including £500 compensation to the victim. The court was told United's No49, described on the club's website as a "supremely gifted talent", had nothing in the bank despite receiving £3,400, after tax, on the 25th of every month, as part of the professional contract he signed when he was 17.

Witness intimidation: Ravel Morrison was told he would be jailed if committed any further offences
A Manchester United player has narrowly avoided jail after threatening a mugging victim to stop him giving evidence.
Ravel Morrison - a promising 18-year-old midfielder - admitted witness intimidation and was told he would be jailed for a year if he was in trouble again.
Morrison, who made his first team debut against Wolverhampton in November, was sentenced earlier this year - but the details can only now be revealed because he has since turned 18.
Trafford Youth Court heard how Morrison and two of his friends - Daryl Garwood, also now 18, and a teenager who cannot be named for legal reasons - intimidated a teenager who had been robbed at knifepoint by two other boys, described in court as 'friends or associates' of Morrison, in September 2009.
Over the course of two days, Morrison contacted the boy - who had his trainers and music player stolen in the attack - a 'number of times' by mobile phone.
The court heard how the calls began to take on a more threatening nature and Morrison offered to buy goods to replace the stolen items - in return for the victim dropping the charges.
In one call, he told the boy he was in the Trafford Centre buying the replacements.
During the conversation Morrison, from Denton, warned: 'You don't know me any more. You don't know what I'm capable of.'
The victim later received a threatening message on Facebook from Morrison, saying: 'Watch yourself. You trying to set me up like that.'
The following day, the court heard, the victim and his brother were approached and threatened by Morrison, Garwood and the unnamed teenager outside a takeaway in the Flixton area of Manchester
The three later appeared in the victim's front garden in the early hours of the morning.
YOUTH MAN UTD V CHELSEA Man Utd Ravel Morrison Chelsea Niclas Heimann in their youth team match at Old Trafford.
The victim, along with two of his brothers, chased them to the junction of Marlborough Road, Flixton. But Morrison, Garwood and the unnamed teenager were then joined by around 16 people who ran towards the victim and his brothers.
Morrison - described on the United website as a 'supremely gifted talent' - changed his plea to guilty on the day his trial was due to start.
He admitted two charges of intimidating a witness. Garwood and the teenager pleaded guilty to one offence of witness intimidation.
The court heard the victim was so traumatised by the incident that his family have put their house up for sale - and they want to move away.
Morrison - who signed professional terms with United on his 17th birthday, just days before he was arrested - was sentenced to a 12-month referral order and ordered to pay £1,445 in costs and compensation. District judge Wendy Lloyd warned Morrison he would be jailed for 12 months if he put a foot out of line.
She said: 'I have a straight-forward choice - send you away or give you a referral order. I've decided to give you a referral order but you will be spending 12 months in a young offenders institute if you breach it.'
David Fish QC, defending, said that the club was providing Morrison with clear support. Garwood and the unnamed teenager were each given 10-month referral orders and ordered to pay £80 in compensation and £50 court costs.
A United spokesman said: 'The club does not in any way condone Ravel's actions, but he is a very talented player with a bright future ahead of him. The right thing to do now is to support him and help him in the process of his rehabilitation.

Entah tamat riwayat karirnya di United aja atau jg sepakbolanya. Yg gw takutin hanya dia kembali melakukan kejahatan, kontraknya diputus lalu dicaplok sm club lain dan menjadi bintang...

The future of Manchester United's hottest young prospect, 18-year-old Ravel Morrison, is in doubt after he appeared in court charged with assaulting his girlfriend.
Morrison, a forward, is widely regarded as the best young player to come through the ranks at Old Trafford for years and recently grabbed some headlines with a two-goal display as the club's youth team overturned a 2-0 deficit to win an FA Youth Cup quarter-final at Liverpool.

Manchester United youth star Ravel Morrison avoids jail after pleading guilty to criminal damage
May 25, 2011 - MEN
A Manchester United starlet has been spared jail after he appeared in court less than 48 hours after scoring two goals for the Reds in the FA Youth Cup final.
Ravel Morrison, who was accused of throwing his girlfriend's mobile phone out of a window, pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal damage at Salford Magistrates' Court.
But the 18-year-old escaped with a fine – despite being subject to a 12-month referral order earlier this year after being convicted of witness intimidation.
The M.E.N understands that Manchester United intends to stand by the troubled youngster after his latest brush with the law.
The court heard how Morrison had rowed with his girlfriend, with whom he had been in a relationship for three years, after an argument at her parents' home in Salford on April 19 this year.
He picked up her phone – worth £150 – and hurled it out of a window.
Morrison – who appeared in court dressed smartly in a black jumper, tie and black trousers - was fined £600 and ordered to pay £100 in court costs.
Tina Cummane, prosecuting, said the girlfriend had become angry after reading a text message on Morrison's phone.
She picked up his phone and threw it across the room.
In retaliation, Morrison picked up her phone and hurled it out of the window.
Morrison, of Davyhulme, had also been accused of assaulting the girlfriend during the row. That charge was dropped – and Morrison cleared - after the prosecution failed to offer any evidence.
Morrison has been tipped as one of United's brightest hopes for the next decade. He scored two goals to help his team win the FA Youth Cup on Monday night.
But he was subjected to a 12-month referral order after being convicted of witness intimidation at Trafford Youth Court in January.
He was warned then he would face jail if he breached the order. District judge Jonathan Feinstein decided not to sentence him for the original offence at the hearing today.
He told Morrison: "You accept what you did was wrong and have pleaded guilty. “I'm sure you appreciate that behaviour like on that particular day was not acceptable.
“You are somebody with a considerable future and must at all times understand that the loss of temper no matter what the provocation is not acceptable.”
David Fish QC, defending, said Morrison had replaced his girlfriend's mobile phone and the couple were still together. She refused to testify against him.
Mr Fish added: “The young lady lives with her parents and the defendant is a regular visitor there.
“They are very much a couple. There is no violence against her.”
Judge Feinstein was told in a report from the youth offending team that Morrison has a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
But the judge asked the youth offending team to talk to Morrison to see if they could offer any support with domestic issues.
A spokeman for Manchester United declined to comment.

Talented but Troubled...
Come on Morrison....
RAVEL MORRISON: MANCHESTER UNITED STARLET’S ON ROAD TO RUIN
Sunday June 5,2011
By John Richardson
MANCHESTER UNITED'S brightest young talent, tipped to become the next Paul Scholes, is in danger of throwing it all away because of his criminal activities.
Just 48 hours after helping United win the FA Youth Cup, Ravel Morrison appeared in court with his Old Trafford career on the line.
Morrison, 18, pleaded guilty to criminal damage at Salford Magistrates’ Court in the knowledge that he was already the subject of a 12-month referral order after being convicted of witness intimidation.
Many people around United believe Morrison is the best player to come through the junior ranks since the days of David Beckham, Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs and Scholes.
The attacking midfi elder has been likened to a young Scholes and seemed destined to step into the formidable shoes of the 36-year-old, who last week announced his retirement.
With his ability to select the right pass and ghost into goalscoring pitch. But off it there couldn't be a greater contrast.
While Scholes never gave the club a moment's concern, with his quiet, almost reclusive home-loving lifestyle, Morrison has pushed United’s patience to the brink with his escapades, some of which would not look out of place in a gangster movie.
He has become mixed up in the gun crime culture of south Manchester. At the age of 15 he was cautioned for assaulting his mother, then two years later he admitted two charges of intimidating a witness, which included attempting to prevent a mugging victim giving evidence.
While two of his friends received custodial sentences, the rising United star, who has represented England at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 levels, was spared imprisonment despite being told by the judge his behaviour had been “appalling”.
United have stood by him in the knowledge that talent like his does not come around too often. It was illustrated by his two goals in the crushing 4-1 FA Youth Cup fi nal second leg victory over Sheffi eld United, watched by manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Just two days later, Morrison was at Salford Magistrates’ Court pleading for his freedom. Again he was allowed to walk free from court, but only after agreeing to undergo counselling for domestic violence.
The wayward teenager has been told in no uncertain terms that he
cannot afford any more transgressions if he is to fulfil his enormous potential.
A United insider said: “Everyone, the manager included, has leant over backwards to try to give Ravel every opportunity to succeed here. Without question he possesses exceptional talent but he has received so many warnings over his timekeeping and his attitude.
“He has so much to lose because, providing he focuses on his football, nothing is unachievable for Ravel. If he steps out of line again, he will be on his way out of the club despite his potential.
“If he continues to progress as a footballer, the United fans could see a lot more of him next season.”
His promotion to the first team squad could soften the blow of Scholes following Edwin van der Sar into retirement.
United also hope ex-England midfi elder Scholes’ decision to stay at the club as a member of the coaching staff will help Morrison to develop.
United’s 10th FA Youth Cup triumph continues the tradition set by Sir Matt Busby, whose Babes won fi ve on the trot from 1953, and has raised hopes within the club that some of the latest batch of youngsters will see first-team action.
As well as Morrison, there is belief that midfi elder Ryan Tunnicliffe, striker William Keane and French starlet Paul Pogba, talked of as the new Patrick Vieira, can make their mark in the next 12 months.
For Morrison, however, the main challenge lies away from the football fi eld.

bingung naro nya antara di thread nya paul scholes atau di morrison
gw taro disini aja deh
http://thebusbyway.com/2011/07/12/weve-trained-with-ravel-and-we-know-what-talent-he-has-got/
“We’ve trained with Ravel and we know what talent he has got.”
Having assumed his role as a coach at Old Trafford, Paul Scholes will be tasked with guiding players through Old Trafford and this could include stars of the future.
As one of the famed class of 1992, Scholes should know a thing or two about talented youth. He along with David Beckham, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs and the Neville Brothers graduated from that group and went on to forge careers at Old Trafford that saw them win numerous trophies and having just seen the u18s win the FA Youth Cup he has high hopes for this latest batch too.
“We have struggled a bit in the Youth Cup [since 1992] haven’t we?
“But this group look like they’re ready to go into a first team now because they are big, strong, powerful lads and they have got the skill to go with it.
“They like to work hard as well, which they are going to need. I thought they were brilliant and they looked like men already. They didn’t really look like kids because they are built so well. They are strong physically and have got the talent to go with it.”
The team that won the competition is littered with potential stars with the likes of Will Keane, Ryan Tunnicliffe and Paul Pogba all highlighted for bright futures whilst the highly talented Larnell Cole along with the likes of John Cofie and Tom Thorpe have also caught the eye.
But of all the players one stands out for Paul Scholes, Ravel Morrison .
Morrison has been talked about as one of United’s most talented players since Scholes but unfortunately off field problems have threatened to derail his career. Hopefully Morrison has put these issue behind him because for him not to achieve his full potential would be somewhat of a tragedy,
“They’re strong physically and have got the talent to go with it. You are probably looking at Ravel to come through, Ryan Tunnicliffe and Paul Pogba, but there are a lot of talented players.
“We’ve trained with Ravel and we know what talent he’s got – hopefully [he will fulfil it].”

Say It Ain’t So Ravel!
RFFH 21st July 2011 by Justin Mottershead
Another day, another Ravel Morrison could be in trouble story, this time with reports the teeanger has been interviewed over more harassment claims.
The Guardian notes:
” Ravel Morrison, Manchester United’s immensely talented but troubled young footballer, has been interviewed by police over new allegations of harassment.
” Morrison, ranked as potentially one of the pre-eminent footballers of his generation, is already the subject of a 12-month referral order after two court cases within the past six months, and the 18-year-old has been warned that if he breaks that order he will be sent to prison for a year.
” He has also been advised by a district judge to seek counselling about domestic abuse after twice being arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend – both cases were dropped because she would not give evidence – and receiving a police caution for assaulting his mother.
“The latest case follows a complaint from the family of a teenage mugging victim who gave evidence against two of Morrison’s friends in a robbery trial last year.”
We’ve alway been fervent supporters of Morrison at this site and as I’ve said in the past the times I’ve spoken to him, he’s seemed fairly polite, albeit a little rough round the edges.
If there is to be any formal charges made against the youngster though, it may well spell the the end for his Manchester United career as you cannot imagine Sir Alex having much patience left.

Club Will Support Ravel Morrison
JULY 31, 2011
In an interview with Daniel Taylor from The Guardian, David Gill has confirmed that Manchester United will help youth player Ravel Morrison, who is constantly battling with off field distractions, to realise his potential his potential at the club.
“He’s a great player and we are giving him all the support within the club that we can,” he said. “We’re discussing it [the best course of action] and we’re helping him. He’s a very, very talented young player and the appropriate people within the club are making sure we assist him as best as we can.”
In Morrison’s court appearance last month, the judge spoke highly of Morrison’s commitment to change, claiming that he had been given “a glowing report” on the youngster.

Wayne Rooney's Twitter warning to Manchester United rising star Ravel Morrison
Wayne Rooney has taken to Twitter to publicly rebuke Ravel Morrison, the youngster billed as Manchester United’s next home-grown star, following the youngster’s angry reaction to being an unused substitute in Thursday’s reserve clash with Everton.
http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/02046/ravel_2046996c.jpg
Attacking midfielder Morrison, the standout performer in United’s FA Youth Cup triumph last season, made a 20-minute cameo appearance for the first team during the Carling Cup victory at Aldershot last month.
But the 18 year-old aired his displeasure at being left on the bench during the 2-0 win against Everton at Altrincham’s Moss Lane by tweeting “---- take” and “I can not waite [sic] till the end of the season” shortly after the final whistle.
Manchester United team-mate Rooney hit back at Morrison by tweeting to the teenager that the end of the season “might come sooner than u think!!!!!”
Morrison, whose progress has been affected by off-field problems including avoiding jail in May following his second conviction in four months, replied to Rooney by tweeting: “What do you mean :/” after appearing to backtrack on his earlier tweets by insisting that “end of season means holiday time.”

Well...intinya Ravel harus belajar lbh dewasa,,jgn kesel2 dikit lgsg ngetwiit. Kalo di twiitt aja berani ngajak Wazza perang,, tar takutnya kl tmpl bareng malah adu bacot sm Wazza. Memang sih,,karakter pemain ky Ravel yg keras ini akan m'beri warna baru bwd United,,tp ttp yg namanya respek sm club n senior harus dijaga.

Tapi menurut saya Ravel tetep salah bro.. Akhir musim masih lama banget, jadi bukannya fokus ke perbaikan skill sama mentalnya dia malah udah mikirin rencana liburan mewah sama temen2nya ke jamaika or whatever the place it was.

United starlet Morrison set to leave Old Trafford after contract talks stall
Teenage prospect Ravel Morrison looks set for a move away from Manchester United after talks over a new contract reached an impasse.
The 18-year-old forward is highly fancied as a star of the future but his early career has been dogged by a series of off-field problems.
With his contract due to expire at the end of the season, Morrison has yet to sign a new one and is understood to have told friends and team-mates that he is now looking at possibilities elsewhere.
Contract talks have not been helped by the fact that Morrison recently changed his agent, something that has not gone down well at Old Trafford.
United have not yet given up completely on finding a solution but it is very much the case that Morrison’s problems are beginning to impact on his standing at the club.
Manager Sir Alex Ferguson and chief executive David Gill have done everything they can to help the teenager during a time when he has been in and out of trouble with the police.

Get real, Morrison: Fergie blasts United rookie's wage demands
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2012/01/13/article-0-0F7252D200000578-671_306x423.jpg
Sir Alex Ferguson has hit out at the 'unrealistic' wage demands of Ravel Morrison, one of Manchester United's brightest prospects.
Ferguson revealed that a bid from Newcastle for Morrison, 18, had been rejected but admitted he is running out of patience with the troubled youngster.
Morrison, who has made three Carling Cup appearances, is out of contract in the summer and has turned down an offer from United that could be worth up to £15,000 a week.
'His agent has been working hard to get him another club,' said Ferguson.
'We've offered him terms which he has refused. His demands are unrealistic. We've rejected an offer from Newcastle.'
The midfielder's growing list of off-the-field disciplinary problems, court appearances and absences have left Ferguson exasperated.
Team-mate Rio Ferdinand last night defended Morrison over internet rumours he stole the defender's watch from United's changing room.
He tweeted: @RavelMorrison49 whoever saying you nicked a watch from training that was mine is talking rubbish...see you at training Monday. Stay focused.

Who is this boys advisors? #-o The lad obviously comes from a tough area and that brings its own problems, ie gangs, crime etc. Its not easy being young and growing up in these areas no one knows that better than SAF, coming from Govan. Ravel has had a few brushes with the law and needs to move away from the people that are bringing him down, he has talent and that is his future. The fact of the matter is that we dont know whats going on behind closed doors, but this kids advisors need to take a long hard look at them selves and realise if there is one man that can have a positive impact on this kid its SAF. Dont worry about money son the money will follow, go speak to SAF ask him for a new contract, sign it, get your head down, work hard and become a MANU legend!!

Fergie stunned as teenager Morrison demands £30,000 a week to stay at United
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2012/01/19/article-2089140-0F7252D200000578-678_306x441.jpg
Ravel Morrison has stunned Manchester United by demanding £30,000 a week, despite the teenager making just three first-team appearances.
Sir Alex Ferguson has expressed his exasperation with the talented but troubled 18-year-old, describing his demands as 'unrealistic'.
Sportsmail understands United have offered Morrison £12,000 a week - an amazing salary for someone so young - and while the player has denied rejecting a new offer, there is now understood to be an impasse. It is not clear if the £30,000-aweek demand includes bonuses.
But talks with Morrison's advisers have gone so badly United have reached a position where they would be prepared to let him go, even though he is rated the best player to come through the club's academy in years.
His agent has denied making these demands.
Ask about Morrison on Friday morning, Ferguson said: 'I have nothing to say about that. It is nothing to do with a game against Arsenal.'
From Longsight in Manchester, Morrison was the star of United's FA Youth Cup-winning team and has been branded the new Paul Scholes.
But his short career has already been tainted by a series of disciplinary problems - from using his mobile phone on the bench during a reserve game to more serious issues with the police. Among them was a caution for assaulting his mother and he has been urged to seek counselling.
Such is his talent, Ferguson would like to see him remain at United. But he has disrespected coaching staff on Twitter, even provoking a response from Wayne Rooney when he said he could not wait for the season to end. Rooney suggested he could be gone before then.
Ferguson has said he believes Morrison's representatives are already looking for another club and Newcastle have expressed an interest.
On Twitter yesterday, Morrison dismissed reports that Manchester City was another possible destination.
Such is his notoriety, though, that former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan took to Twitter this week to ask Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville if the teenager was any good.
Neville suggested Morrison was a 'huge talent' and Ferdinand enthused about his 'huge potential'. But the England defender summed up the dangers facing Morrison as he weighs up the possibility of a future away from United.
'I've told him what I think of him and what he needs to do to fulfil his potential,' said Ferdinand. 'It would be a big waste if it all goes ***s up.'
Two years ago Ferguson told a small gathering at a friend's birthday party that Morrison, then just 16, was the 'best I have ever seen at that age'.
It was a remarkable assessment, given the players that have come through the system at Old Trafford during his 25 years in charge.
Morrison's list of indiscretions is so long now that Ferguson is close to giving up on him. And one prominent reserve player moaned privately: 'Why do United fans worry about Ravel when he can't be bothered getting out of bed to go to training?'

Wenger is urged to grab United wild boy Ravel
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2012/01/20/article-2089625-0F7252D200000578-743_306x457.jpg
Arsene Wenger is being encouraged to bid for Manchester United contract rebel Ravel Morrison.
Sir Alex Ferguson rates Morrison, 18, as one of the best youngsters United have produced in his time at the club.
Despite the teenager's string of off-field problems, Ferguson has persisted with him in the hope he could turn his life around and become a key part of United's future.
But a dispute over a new contract has left Morrison's future in doubt.
Arsenal have pinpointed Morrison as a player with massive potential and influential members of their scouting network have recommended that Wenger at least considers a summer swoop for the player.
Wenger realises Morrison has an abundance of talent and feels he could go on to carve out a career in the capital.
But concerns over Morrison's attitude have left Wenger with reservations.
Fears over whether Morrison could stay on the straight and narrow, particularly in London, mean Wenger is still pondering his options.
Newcastle have decided to fast-track their interest in Morrison by trying to sign him this month, while Roma are also keen.
Morrison's agent has denied the player demanded a contract worth £30,000 a week from United and that the club offered him £12,000 a week.

Ravel Morrison is the teenager Manchester United struggle to control
Midfielder has a muddled life and Sir Alex Ferguson has decided it is time to wash his hands of him
http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Sport/Pix/pictures/2012/1/21/1327161105189/Ravel-Morrison-007.jpg
The last time I saw Ravel Morrison he was in the dock at Salford magistrates' court, fiddling with his tie and waiting to hear whether he was going to be locked up. An argument with his girlfriend had got out of hand, her phone had been smashed and he had ended up back in court a few months after being told the next time he was in trouble he would be going to Strangeways.
Nobody from Manchester United was with him that day and it struck me as strange given the way the club usually operates. Sir Alex Ferguson might ordinarily have been expected to make an appearance, or at least send in a character reference. But Morrison was alone, bar his solicitor. He was already on a referral order after pleading guilty to witness intimidation and the district judge had told him she would personally see to it that he went down if he re-offended. Instead, Morrison walked free, and straight back into the muddled life that has now brought us to the point, with jarring inevitability, when Ferguson has decided enough is enough and it is time to wash his hands of him.
At United they will tell you that, goodness knows, they have tried everything. Or, at least, until the past few weeks when the secretary, John Alexander, rang his agent to tell him he should look for another club. By that point, one of the coaches had simply stopped talking to Morrison. His mother went to pick him up from training one day and was told, in the bluntest terms, that her son was a waste of time and not worth the hassle.
Things have turned nasty and someone is spinning the truth, given that Ferguson said it was about money and the "unrealistic" demands of a player who has not yet turned 19. Morrison says he has never been offered a contract or asked for a pay rise, defending himself on Twitter where he announced during last season's player of the year dinner that the event was "****".
His first-team career at United amounts to three Carling Cup substitute appearances and it is terribly sad when behind the scenes they talk of him being as naturally gifted as Paul Scholes. Barcelona have asked about him. Chelsea and Arsenal have thought long and hard about whether they can get him under control. Their verdict is they probably cannot, which leaves Newcastle United, Roma and Paris St Germain among the potential buyers. It might be the best piece of business they ever do, or maybe their worst nightmare. With Morrison, it is better not to take anything for granted.
On the football pitch, he plays with finesse and confidence. In court, he was described as vulnerable and fragile. The picture that emerged was of someone who acts compulsively and does not think of the consequences. The referral order was imposed after he tried to intimidate the 15-year-old victim of a street robbery out of giving evidence. Morrison never seemed to understand the seriousness of sending threatening messages, then being part of the mob that chased the robbery victim and threw a brick through his window. The boy did. He was so traumatised his family put their house up for sale.
The people closest to Morrison say some of his misdemeanours, such as once giving a first-team player's boots to a friend, are simply to please others. Items often go missing from dressing-rooms and in Sir Matt Busby's time they used marked money to trap the player responsible. These days Twitter hears everything, true and false. Now we have the sideshow of Morrison tweeting Rio Ferdinand to ask for back-up after rumours about him stealing his watch. Ferdinand confirmed it was untrue. This is Manchester United meets Grange Hill.
The best advice Ferdinand could offer Morrison would be to delete his account. Except Morrison does not like being told what to do. He is not seduced by United in the way most teenage boys would be. He has grown bored of being with the reserves, listening to the shouts from the first-team players on the next field. Lesser players have moved up, which he has found hard to take. Ferguson told him he would be, too – but only if he managed three months without skipping a session. Morrison does not work that way. His life at United has become a story of no-shows, stand-up rows and other disciplinary matters. Outside the club, 999 has been called more than once. "Write what you want about him," said one member of training-ground staff, expletives removed.
What United would rather not come out is that, in court, the district judge questioned whether the club were giving him the right care. Her view was that they might not be. Equally, if it is true this is not about money it reflects badly on Ferguson, to say the least, that he should say otherwise. Morrison, who is willing to move abroad, says he has "never asked for money and never rejected anything". Whatever the truth, there are no winners in this story.
This could be a £40m footballer in a few years, if only life were so simple. Instead you just hope that there never comes a day when he is that bloke in the pub telling anyone who cares to listen it should have been him.
