[EPL] Portsmouth vs Man Utd
Sabtu, 28 November 2009
Kick Off : 22.00 WIB
Venue : Fratton Park Stadium

Portsmouth vs Manchester United

What a fixtures ...

Pompey musim kehilangan bnyk pemain makin hancur performa n prestasinya, ditambah mereka br semalam mecat sang manager Paul Hart ditambah James cedera... But mereka main dikandang dgn caretaker or maybe a new manager, harus waspada dgn semangat pemain yg jarang dipasang utk menarik perhatian manager baru mereka... But tetap United gw yakin akan meraih kemenangan... Apalagi dgn performa seperti saat vs Everton weekend lalu...

Berbatov Siap Tampil Lawan Portsmouth

Berbatov setidaknya melewatkan tiga pertandingan terakhir MU. Padahal Oktober lalu, Berbatov terpilih sebagai Player of the Month para fans MU.

Ferguson menyabut baik kembalinya Berbatov.

Match Pack: Portsmouth

The Reds travel down South without the luxury of their manager on the sidelines, but they will be confident facing a Pompey side in transition…

Form Guide: The off-the-field problems at Portsmouth have certainly filtered down on to the Fratton Park pitch, having mustered only two league wins all season. Two takeovers in a matter of weeks have seen a transfer embargo placed on the club, as well as the sale of star players such as Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch, Glen Johnson and Lassana Diarra. Pompey’s only wins came against Wolves (1-0) and Wigan (4-0). Their most recent defeat against Stoke was the final straw for the board, who sacked Paul Hart earlier this week. To lighten the mood around the club, they have progressed to the Carling Cup quarter-finals thanks to wins over Hereford, Carlisle and Stoke.

Ins and outs: Jonny Evans and John O'Shea are doubts, while Rio Ferdinand and Owen Hargreaves are still out. Pompey are likely to be without goalkeeper David James, who is suffering from a calf strain, while Linvoy Primus is still out with a foot injury. Ex-Reds' striker Danny Webber could feature against his former side.

Star man: Jamie O’Hara has been one of few bright sparks at Fratton Park this season, providing the energy in the Pompey engine room. He’s spending the year at Portsmouth on loan from Tottenham, and notched his first goal in November. United fans will remember him for missing Spurs’ first penalty in the Carling Cup final shoot-out last season.

Manager: Former Chelsea boss Avram Grant has taken over the reigns at Fratton Park following Hart's dismissal. The 54-year-old Israeli was already at the club in his second spell working as director of football. He previously guided Chelsea to second place, behind United, in the Barclays Premier League in 2007/08 and also to the Champions League final in Moscow, where the Blues lost on penalties to Sir Alex's men. It turned out to be Grant's last game in charge.

Referee: Mike Dean from the Wirral will be in charge of this one. He dished out nine yellow cards in United's 2-1 victory over Arsenal earlier this season, and last oversaw Portsmouth in their 2-2 draw with West Brom last campaign

AVRAM GRANT: I'LL KEEP PORTSMOUTH IN PREMIER LEAGUE... STARTING WITH MANCHESTER UNITED
-express.co.uk-

http://images.dailyexpress.co.uk/img/dynamic/67/285x214/142814_1.jpg

AVRAM Grant has vowed to keep Portsmouth in the Premier League, starting with tomorrow's clash against Manchester United.

Avram Grant, who will not officially take over as Portsmouth manager until he receives his work permit next week, was unveiled at Fratton Park today.

And he instantly made it clear that he wants to lead the club to top-flight survival, starting with victory against Manchester United.

He said: “It’s a big challenge. I think we deserve to stay in the Premier League and that’s my main concern.

“I think the spirit of the team and the atmosphere are good, they are trying to play good football.

http://images.dailyexpress.co.uk/img/dynamic/67/x190/142814_2.jpg

“There have been good results in the last month compared to before...but what’s happened has happened and I’m looking forward to the next game (Manchester United at home tomorrow).”

Grant takes over with Pompey bottom of the Premier League having collected just seven points from 13 games.

But Grant, appointed technical director of Portsmouth in 2006 prior to a spell at Chelsea, is confident the club can turn the situation around.

He added: “I came here as director of football and I think that’s a very important position in clubs.

“I did the job when I came in 2006 - it was good for me and the club, I enjoyed it very much. I came to help the club and I’m happy to do it also now.

“I need to do a good job because the team are not in a good position. I love this club.

“I’ve have had many situations in my life. Chelsea was different - I went there when they were in a bit of a crisis, they were on the way down - and the result was good in the end.”

Pompey chief executive Peter Storrie added: “Avram is taking charge of the team as director of football.

“He will be appointed as and when he receives a change to his work permit - they are the rules and regulations in this country.

“He’s not the manager yet - but will become it, which we hope will be next week.”

James out for Portsmouth
-uk.eurosport.yahoo.com-

http://tidakmenarik.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/david-james-1.jpg

Asmir Begovic is set to replace injured England goalkeeper David James for Avram Grant's first game in charge of bottom club Portsmouth at home to champions Manchester United at Fratton Park.

Grant, still officially Pompey's director of football until paperwork arrives enabling him to be installed as successor to sacked manager Paul Hart, could stick with Jamie Ashdown but highly-rated Bosnian international Begovic was recalled from a loan spell at Ipswich earlier this week.

Veteran defender Hermann Hreidarsson is likely to keep his place after coming back from injury in the 1-0 defeat at Stoke but Grant may recall French loanee Frederic Piquionne in place of Kanu, who made his first Barclays Premier League start of the season last week.

Jonny Evans and John O'Shea remain doubtful for Manchester United's trip to Portsmouth tomorrow.

Evans picked up a calf injury on international duty with Northern Ireland a fortnight ago, while O'Shea suffered an thigh injury during the Republic of Ireland's controversial World Cup play-off defeat to France.

Patrice Evra is set to return, along with Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov, Edwin van der Sar and Darren Fletcher as United look to close the gap on leaders Chelsea to two points ahead of the Londoners' meeting with Arsenal.

Squad: Van der Sar, Foster, Kuszczak, Neville, O'Shea, Brown, Vidic, Evans, Evra, Rafael, Valencia, Anderson, Fletcher, Scholes, Carrick, Giggs, Nani, Berbatov, Rooney, Owen, Macheda, Welbeck.

Sir Alex Ferguson fears Fratton Park din will stop him being heard in Manchester United's clash with Portsmouth

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2009/11/27/article-1231564-04B512E5000005DC-921_306x423.jpg

Shout, let it all out: Sir Alex Ferguson

Sir Alex Ferguson fears his attempts to manage Manchester United from a seat in the stands will be frustrated by Portsmouth's noisy supporters at Fratton Park today.

Ferguson begins his two-match touchline ban for criticising referee Alan Wiley's fitness and the United boss admits he could not have been dealt a worse place than Portsmouth to be out of touch with assistant Mike Phelan and the rest of his coaching staff.

The Pompey supporters are vocal enough without No 1 fan John Portsmouth Football Club Westwood and his friends adding to the din with their trumpet and bells close to where Ferguson will be sitting.

'I've got the communication lines for the game in place, but the only problem you have is that Fratton Park is such a noisy place,' he said.

'It's one of those old stadiums and the stand is a bit rickety. The directors' box is towards the home end where all that noise comes from - the drums and whatever the hell they have got going on at that place.'

Ferguson will be allowed in the dressing-room despite the ban, which is good news for United considering the influence Rio Ferdinand claims the manager exerts.

Speaking at a fundraising event at Old Trafford, the United skipper recalled Ferguson's inspirational speech that helped them beat Chelsea in the 2008 Champions League final in Moscow.

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2009/11/27/article-1231564-048A7779000005DC-120_306x423.jpg

In awe: Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand revealed his boss made an inspirational speech before the 2008 Champions League final win over Chelsea

'I'll never forget it,' said Ferdinand. 'Before the game he just plonked his chair in the middle of the room and started a random conversation totally unrelated to football.

'But it just settled everybody's nerves and before we knew it his talk switched to words of pure inspiration, reminding all the players, whatever you do in life, to achieve your goals. And, of course, it worked. We won the game.

'I was in awe the first time I met Sir Alex and whenever you get new players at the club it's the same. When Michael Owen signed, he told me how he just sat there listening to the gaffer in amazement. That's why he's so successful.'

Defeat in Moscow was Avram Grant's last match in charge of Chelsea and his first as Portsmouth boss also sees him up against Ferguson's side.

Ferguson believes United's penalty shoot-out win in Moscow was not necessarily decisive in Grant's departure from Stamford Bridge, with Luiz Felipe Scolari already on Chelsea's radar.

'They were a penalty kick away from winning the Champions League and they were second in the Premier League, but it may not all be about that,' he said. 'It may be that someone else came on the horizon at the time. Sometimes that can happen.

'It will have been disappointing for Avram, having achieved what he did. But he has got on with his life and never shown any bitterness about what happened. He's handled it well and he will do OK at Portsmouth.

'He's kept in touch with me quite a lot. He'll be glad to get back in and he's got a task because they're bottom of the league.

'But I'm sure he'll get the right reaction from his players, so it should be a very hard game for us.'

Kanu backs Grant to claim revenge on Manchester United
-thestar.com.my-

PORTSMOUTH: Avram Grant begins his Portsmouth managerial career in the dug-out opposite Alex Ferguson today, 18 months after ending his Chelsea reign with defeat to Manchester United in the Champions League final.

Grant led Chelsea to within touching distance of lifting the European Cup for the first time in their history before John Terry’s missed penalty condemned the Israeli to a heartbreaking shootout defeat in Moscow.

By a quirk of fate Grant has the opportunity to gain his revenge when the Premier League champions travel to Fratton Park after agreeing to succeed the sacked Paul Hart as Portsmouth manager.

Portsmouth striker Kanu is backing Grant to mastermind a famous victory.

The Nigerian international said: “It does not matter who we play if we believe we can win, we can.

“We have got good players who are experienced and know what it takes to dig ourselves out of trouble.

“We have to keep positive and keep working hard. We can see we are improving in every aspect of the game, which is good.

“We are going to give Manchester United a good game and who knows, maybe we can come out with three points.”

While Grant has been given the unenviable task of leading Portsmouth from the bottom of the table to Premier League survival, United counterpart Ferguson knows his side cannot afford to fall any further behind Chelsea in their pursuit of a fourth successive league title.

United captain Gary Neville expects a positive response from his team after their proud 23-match unbeaten Champions League run was ended by Wednesday’s 1-0 Old Trafford defeat to Besiktas.

Neville, set to play his first Premier League match since completing a three-match suspension, said: “I have been fit throughout the period I have been banned do it has been frustrating.

“I was disappointed with Wednesday because we did not convert our chances and did not create enough in the last third.

“I wanted to come back into a winning team but we have to move on. We have a tough game at Portsmouth on Saturday so we have to pick ourselves up and get a win there.”

Ferguson is expected to make as many as eight changes to the youthful side that lost to Besiktas.

Edwin van der Sar, Patrice Evra, Ryan Giggs, Darren Fletcher, Michael Carrick, Antonio Valencia, Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney are all set to return.

United’s manager, whose side have lost on three of their last six visits to Fratton Park, said: “Wednesday was a good experience for the younger players but of course we have people to come back in against Portsmouth.

“Fratton Park has been a difficult place for us to go down the years so we know we are in for a hard game regardless of their league position.

“We had a good win against Everton last weekend and we want to keep that run going. Traditionally this is the time of the season when we come on strongly.”

MATCH PREVIEW

Portsmouth's season of turmoil took its latest twist this week with the abrupt sacking of manager Paul Hart and the appointment of former Chelsea coach Avram Grant.

The 54-year-old Israeli will take charge of Saturday's home game against Manchester United in his current role of Pompey's director of football. However, the club will then apply to the Football Association to change his status to manager.

Grant inherits a side who are three points adrift at the bottom of the Premier League table after 10 defeats in 13 games. Ownership uncertainty, crippling debts and a transfer embargo have all added to the instability at the beleaguered club this season.

The irony that it is United who provide the opposition on Saturday will not be lost on Grant. They were also the first opponents when he took charge at Stamford Bridge in September 2007 and the final team he faced as Chelsea head coach the following May: he was sacked following the defeat on penalties to Sir Alex Ferguson's team in the Champions League final.

United must pick themselves up from a midweek defeat to Turkish champions Besiktas, a result that ended the Old Trafford club's 23-match unbeaten home run in the Champions League. They must do so without Ferguson in the dugout as the United boss begins his two match touchline ban.

Meanwhile, in a week that has summed up the mess Portsmouth are in, the city was ruled out of the race to be a potential host for games in the 2018 World Cup after the local council refused to provide financial guarantees.

Preview Portsmouth vs Manchester United
Fergie: Stadion Fratton Park Berisik

http://media.vivanews.com/thumbs2/2009/08/20/75475_sir_alex_ferguson_300_225.jpg

WAYNE ROONEY ruined Avram Grant's debut as Pompey boss by netting a hat-trick at Fratton Park.

Grant left his role as Portsmouth's director of football earlier this week to replace Paul Hart as the club's new manager.

His side dominated early on but fell behind after Michael Brown hauled down Rooney in the box.

Rooney exchanged passes with Antonio Valencia to leave the home defence chasing shadows before Brown felled him by wrapping his arm around his shoulders.

The England striker dusted himself off and smashed the ball past Asmir Begovic to break the deadlock with 25 minutes on the clock.

Pompey refused to buckle despite falling behind and United were left fuming when referee Mike Dean awarded the hosts their own spot-kick.

No one inside the ground seemed to know what it was for but Dean appeared in no doubt that Tomasz Kuszczak fouled Frederic Piquionne.

The match official was surrounded by United players before Kevin-Prince Boateng put the controversy — and last weekend's penalty miss against Stoke — to one side to equalise after 32 minutes.

Pompey made it to the break on level terms but Rooney took matters into his own hands after the interval.

Ryan Giggs delivered a delightful ball into his path and Roo calmly touched the ball past Begovic to restore the lead just three minutes into the second half.

And the points were effectively wrapped up in the 54th minute when he completed his treble.

Dean pointed to the spot for the final time when Giggs went flying in the box — and the decision was again greeted by furious protests.

But this time they were from Pompey as Piquionne appeared to get a slight touch on the ball before Giggs tumbled over his outstretched leg.

Dean waved away the protests and Rooney sent Begovic the wrong way to the secure himself the match ball.

And Giggs rubbed alt in the wounds three minutes from time with a sublime free-kick.

Rooney shaped to take it but ran over the ball before his veteran team-mate capped a superb second-half performance by curling a sweet shot over the wall and into the top corner.

Alex Ferguson salutes birthday boy Ryan Giggs after Portsmouth win - but can't help slating the officials as well
-mirrorfootball.co.uk-

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/match-centre/article235947.ece/ALTERNATES/gallery-large/Wayne+Rooney.jpeg

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson hailed Ryan Giggs after the veteran midfielder netted on the eve of his 36th birthday to inflict defeat on Avram Grant in his first match in charge of Portsmouth.

Giggs scored his 100th Premier League goal during the 4-1 win at Fratton Park, with Wayne Rooney grabbing a hat-trick including two penalties.

With Giggs turning 36 on Sunday, Ferguson said: "He's an exceptional player. A rarity. He will play for two years yet.

"Happy Birthday. He's had it 36 times in his life, wait until he gets to 67. I think he'll be retired by then."

Pompey's goal came from the penalty spot, with Kevin-Prince Boateng scoring, although an offence did not seem apparent when Mike Dean pointed to the spot. Replays suggested Nemanja Vidic tugged Frederic Piquionne's shirt.

"The linesman has put the referee under terrible pressure and he has to listen to the linesman who is 50 yards away," Ferguson said.

"You see these things every weekend in the penalty box. If you are saying everyone who wrestles at a corner or tugs at a jersey concedes a penalty kick then that that's fine. But it doesn't happen that way and this linesman has changed the whole course of normal decision making.

"So it was a very disappointing result for us to get a penalty against us in that situation. Half-time came at a good time for us and the important thing was to keep our discipline and composure and play our football."

Rooney earned the first penalty, then Giggs set up his second and earned the penalty for the England striker's hat-trick.

"With strikers you always want them to score, he's got the matchball which is nice," Ferguson said.

Ferguson hails birthday boy Giggs
-fifa.com-

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson hailed Ryan Giggs after the veteran midfielder netted on the eve of his 36th birthday to inflict defeat on Avram Grant in his first match in charge of Portsmouth.

Giggs scored his 100th Premier League goal during the 4-1 win at Fratton Park, with Wayne Rooney grabbing a hat-trick, including two penalties. With Giggs turning 36 on Sunday, Ferguson said: "He's an exceptional player. A rarity. He will play for two years yet.

"With strikers, you always want them to score; he's got the matchball which is nice," Ferguson said.

Grant lost his final game as Chelsea manager to United and suffered defeat again, although he took heart from the performance and feels his side have the ability to climb from their place at the bottom of the league.

"It was a strange game," he said. "If I came from the moon and heard the result I would have thought Manchester United played great and Portsmouth was not so good, but we played very well. I thought we played better. We created a lot of chances and conceded soft goals.

"Our goalkeeper almost didn't touch the ball and Tomasz Kuszczak made three great saves. Now our target is staying in the league. It won't be easy, but it will be possible. The football was good and the spirit, but there are things we have to do better - first to take points. When we play against teams close to us, we need to win them."

Grant expects to make signings when the transfer window opens, adding: "In January, of course, we want to make the squad stronger and we will do."

Fergie: Ryan's one of a kind
-The Sun-

http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00938/giggs_280x390_938338a.jpg

ALEX FERGUSON hailed Ryan Giggs after the veteran netted his 100th Premier League for Manchester United.

The Welsh veteran was in inspired form as United handed new Portsmouth boss Avram Grant a 4-1 defeat at Fratton Park.

Giggs curled home his side's fourth goal with a superb free-kick following Wayne Rooney's hat-trick.

And Fergie was quick to highlight the midfielder's faultless performance.

The United boss said: "Ryan's an exceptional player — a rarity. He will play for two more years yet.

"He's 36 tomorrow so happy birthday to him."

Pompey's only goal came from the penalty spot after Namanja Vidic appeared to tug Frederic Piquionne's shirt.

Kevin-Prince Boateng tucked it away but Mike Dean's decision to award the spot-kick was far from clear.

For once, however, Fergie was not overly critical of the referee — who also awarded his side two penalties.

The Scot said: "He has to listen to the linesman who is 50 yards away.

"You see these things every weekend in the penalty box. If you are saying everyone who wrestles at a corner or tugs at a jersey concedes a penalty, then that that's fine.

"But it doesn't happen that way and this linesman has changed the whole course of normal decision making.

Dapat Dua Penalti, Ferguson Masih Kecewa

http://www.kompas.com/data/photo/2009/11/29/0434236p.jpg

(GL)

Fergie Protes Penalti Portsmouth
Rossi Finza Noor - detiksport

http://www.detiksport.com/images/content/2009/11/29/72/FergieAFP-isi.jpg

kalo gini ceritanya...mau diapain Giggs musim depan ?

Tampaknya at least 1 musim lagi dia bakal tetep maen deh...
Gw pribadi juga masih pengen liat RG11 maen lagi setidaknya 2 musim lagi :mudance:
SAF juga sepertinya bakal tetep nawarin RG11 buat lanjut...seperti halnya yg SAF lakuin ke PS18, bukan begitu bukan???
Tapi semua keputusan ya tergantung Om Giggs sendiri sih, hihi....

hahahahahaha

untung kita bisa keluar dr tekanan wasit...

overall kita maen lumayan...tapi bukan berarti gak ada cela juga meski menang telak...
Back Four kita bener-bener kacau bgt...mungkin bisa dipertimbangkan buat beli 1 bek tengah pelapis...krn brown kacau kl jadi bek tengah...
TK keren bgt reflexnya...hanya selalu gak berani halau bola crosing...

maju terus...jangan lengah siapapun lawannya...
