Magnus Wolff Eikre, Mame Biram Diouf and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on the training field to the United

Thursday had Mame Biram Diouf's first training session with Manchester United.

Kjell Jonevret and Erling Moe is coincidentally also at United and has followed Mames first training with his new club.

http://www.moldefk.no/site/img/preview/4498/329.jpg
Coach Kjell Jonevret explains that Mame did well on their first training sessions with United's stars.

"Yesterday he trained with those who did not play Champions League match against Besiktas, so then it was training with, among others Rooney, Giggs and Neville. As a team player match in the morning, he trained today with Ole Gunnar group , reserve team, " says Jonevret.

"How did he now?"
"He stood and worked well and it was full speed all the training. The training ended with a 30-minute match against U18, they will reportedly play the cup at the weekend. The game finished 2-2 and Mame scored both goals. He has already started to yell at his teammates that they should center the ball to him! " laughs Jonevret.

"He was also the only field players who have got long pants on today. The Manchester United should have shorts, and even the coaches are in short trousers. But since he was a-lagsspiller was allowed to play in long pants today, " end Jonevret by telephone from Manchester

Belgium move likely for Man Utd signing Diouf
-tribalfootball.com-

A loan move to Belgium is mooted for new Manchester United signing Mame Biram Diouf.

The Daily Mail says at 21 years, Diouf is one of the best young players in African football, a Senegal international who will officially join up with United next month after finishing the domestic season with Molde in Norway.

It is more than possible that Diouf - scouted personally by United reserve-team coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and signed last summer - will find himself on loan for the rest of this season, probably in Belgium.

Nevertheless, his visit to the Carrington training complex emphasises how the United production line relentlessly keeps turning out new faces.

German, French and Dutch clubs will lend Mame

Jonevret impressed after visiting Mame at Manchester United.

TALKING ABOUT FERGUSON MAME: Molde coach Kjell Jonevret

(Dagbladet): Molde coach Kjell Jonevret was last week in Manchester to see how Mame Biram Diouf has found settling into his new club.

Yet it is not certain about the 21-year-old will remain at United in the new year, or whether he will be rented out to another club. But according Jonevret have the reigning Premier League masters decided to apply for a work permit for Diouf.

- Mame had really a lot of energy on the training field. It will be exciting to see what happens now. They take a decision on a couple of weeks, but has already decided to apply for a work permit. About Mame do not get it, there are many good clubs that are interested in to lend him, "said Jonevret to Dagbladet.

Spoke with Fergie on Mame

But he has no hope that Molde is a current club if United decides to loan him out.

- They have high thoughts about him and want him to play at a higher level. There are good clubs in Germany, France and the Netherlands who are interested, so I do not think he komer back to us. After that I realized the man himself, they have received many calls from clubs who want to hire him. So it seemed as if he was interested in finding out more about who they have bought.

- Did you talk much with Ferguson about Mame?

- We talked a bit about how I have used Mame in Molde. I said he was very hardworking, and that he was not only a great attacker, but also a good first defense. We have played with three men in the attack while the United mostly play with two. With Mame you get a player with great movement, which is very good in back rooms and a strong head offensively and defensively, "said Jonevret.

- Stand out on the training

Jonevret was at Carrington training ground three times, and believes Diouf did well.

- He is in fact a pointed type they have. United have a lot of good attackers, but not as many as Mame, who constantly are in motion. He differed slightly out of classes, in the sense that he was on his way in the back room the whole time so they could easily turn the pass in there. The other strikers like Rooney and Berbatov's incredibly talented, but would probably rather have the ball on them.

- I know exactly what is one of the reasons that Ole Gunnar think Mame is interesting. And I think Ferguson will also discover that after a couple of weeks. We also saw an internal struggle in which those who were not with the away match against Portsmouth played against 19-årslaget. It was a good class of what he did, it ended well 2-2 and scored both Mame, "says Jonevret.

And says cheerfully that the 21-year-old gave a clear indication of the times he got the ball and he thought he should have had it.

- It was a lot of young players, but he scolded them immediately if he got the balls. There was no respect, he gave the real iron.

- But he was perhaps a little more careful about scolding for the established guys?

- It looked like he was one of the gang, but he waits NOK few days before his differences out Ryan Giggs, he assures.

Asked long pants

Manchester is not known as a warm and sunny city, without preventing players in to train in shorts either summer or winter.

Mame tried however to get an exemption to use long pants. But the application was flatly rejected.

- In Molde had Mame about wearing two hats in the summer. But United is almost forbidden to train with long pants. He had gone in to the material manager and asked if he was allowed, but he was not. But he's A-lagsspiller, and the internal fight against the youth, he was the only one who had long pants on him, chuckles Jonevret.

- So how have Mame overall experienced the first few weeks at United?

- It's great for him, this. When the first team played against Besiktas, he was the sit in the stands with the big boys and go around with Rio Ferdinand. I was also a little proud and pleased to see him among the boys. I think even he has learned to drive in the left field, "said Jonevret to Dagbladet.

FRENCH OPTION FOR UNITED STRIKER

Sochaux want Red Devils new boy on loan

SOCHAUX are interested in signing Manchester United striker Mame Biram Diouf on loan.

The Senegalese hitman is due to join United from Molde in January but Sir Alex Ferguson may farm him straight out as it's unlikely he'll be in contention for an immediate first-team spot.

The 21-year-old signed for the Premier League champions in the summer but was allowed to continue his progress in Norway before arriving at Old Trafford.

Sochaux have been hit by the lengthy absence of American attacker Charlie Davies and will ask Ferguson to consider sending Diouf to them on loan until the end of the season.

Francois Gillot's club currently lie 15th in the Ligue 1 table and the African ace's potential arrival could help fire them up the placings.

Meanwhile, Sol Campbell has reacted to speculation about possible interest from Ferguson by saying he would love to train with the Old Trafford giants.

Mame has been brilliant

Sir Alex is mighty impressed.

(Dagbladet): - The boy has a huge potential. He's going to get a good development when he comes along with the other guys with me, "said Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told newspaper Dagbladet on Mame Biram Diouf just after the Senegalese had completed Molde career with defeat in the Cup final against county rival Aalesund.

A month later, 21-year-old (turns 22 on Wednesday) impressed more than Solskjaer during his training to stay at Manchester United - even those who have the last word in most of the questions: At the club's great man and manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

- He has been brilliant, it looks very promising. We will apply for his work permit in January, "said Ferguson, the TV 2 The Sport.

The transition from Molde to United beat down like a bomb in the football-Norway in vacation mode in July, and Diouf had trouble believing that it was true when the advisor Jim Solbakken told him that the contract with one of the world's biggest clubs was finished negotiating and waiting for his signature.

- Good for development

Nevertheless, there were not many who believed that he could come straight from the Premier League and compete for a spot in the first lagstroppen already. But one should interpret Ferguson's statements, it seems that a loan to a smaller club is less relevant than initially expected in that United wants to arrange his work permit now.

Scotsman goes too far in suggesting that Diouf should be allowed to develop within the high walls of the training facility in Carrington.

- It's like we're good at here, to let young players have to develop the club. And in an age of 21 he looks very good, "said Ferguson.

lagi dari daily express...

The arrival of Senegal striker Mame Biram Diouf from Molde – who has impressed in training with United while waiting for a work permit – has strengthened the strike force.

Ferguson said the policy of buying young players like 21-year-old Diouf, who was signed for £4m last summer but loaned back to Molde for the remainder of the Norwegian season before being developed in-house, is the way forward. He added: “That’s the kind of deal we are looking at.”

United boss says striker is looking 'very exciting'

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed Manchester United will apply for a work permit for Senegal striker Mame Biram Diouf in January.

United signed Diouf back in the summer, but immediately sent the 21-year-old back to Molde to finish the Norwegian domestic season.

Diouf is now training with United and Ferguson revealed that the youngster has been catching the eye for the Premier League champions.

And, rather than look elsewhere to improve his squad in the New Year, Ferguson outlined his hope that Diouf will be available for selection.

"If you're talking about value then you can look at our young boy Diouf," said Ferguson.

"He's been training with us and is looking very exciting. We're going to apply for a work permit in January.

"That's the kind of situation we're good at - finding young players who can develop at the club and at 21 years of age he's looking very good."

Diouf granted work permit

Exciting young striker Mame Biram Diouf will be available for selection in January after being granted a work permit.

The 22-year-old has impressed in training recently since signing in the summer from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s former club Molde, for whom he has since been playing on loan.

Diouf has made one appearance for the senior Senegal national side, and is at United's disposal next month because his country didn't qualify for the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations.

The powerful, quick and direct frontman boats an excellent strike-rate at Molde – his record this season is 16 goals in 29 matches.

If Sir Alex’s glowing appraisal is anything to go by, Diouf may get a chance in the first team sooner rather than later, although he won’t be available for the FA Cup tie against Leeds on 3 January.

Sir Alex said earlier this month: “If you’re talking about value then you can look at our young boy Diouf.

"He’s been training with us and is looking very exciting. That’s the kind of situation we’re good at – finding young players who can develop at the club and at 22 years of age he’s looking very good.”

Ole hopes Mame can hit target

http://m.gmgrd.co.uk/res/137.$plit/C_71_article_1187226_image_list_image_list_item_0_ image.jpg?23%2F12%2F2009%2012%3A25%3A28%3A493

He has been described as the next Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and will add more firepower to United's squad for the second half of the season.

Mame Biram Diouf - the Senegalese-born striker signed from Molde in the summer - is already training at Carrington with the Premier League champions and has been granted a work permit.

United supporters might argue that another forward rich in potential but short on experience is the last thing Ferguson needs right now with Danny Welbeck and Federico Macheda already struggling to get minutes on the pitch.

But the 22-year-old Diouf comes with the highest recommendation from Old Trafford legend Solskjaer, who personally convinced Ferguson to take a punt on the raw striker.

While the comparisons with Solskjaer are obvious, given that Diouf has been signed from Molde - the club where Ferguson discovered the Norwegian in 1996 - that is there where the similarities end.

Not so much a poacher - in fact Diouf's finishing has been identified as one of his weaknesses by those who have watched him closely in Norway - he relies on his explosive pace more in the fashion of Louis Saha.

Like United's former French striker, he is also impressive in the air with a powerful leap.

Still there were many eyebrows raised in Norway when United came in for him in the summer, with observers questioning whether he could make the step up to the Premier League having only been converted to an orthodox striker this season.

And it remains to be seen if his arrival will convince Ferguson to drop his interest in targets like Edin Dzeko and David Villa.

Diouf's record certainly demands attention, though as the player, who was also a target for Arsenal before United swooped, scored 30 goals in his final season in Norway, which went a long way to dismissing claims that he is not prolific enough.

He could hardly have sent out a more emphatic message to Ferguson than the four goals he scored against Brann just before United announced he would be arriving last July.

And in his final appearance for Molde, he scored twice in the Norwegian Cup final in a 2-2 draw, which was eventually won on penalties by Aalesund.

United are not expecting difficulties over Diouf's work permit - as scuppered the move for Adem Ljajic - as he's played at full international level for Senegal.

United first-team coach, Rene Meulensteen, who played such a pivotal role in Cristiano Ronaldo's development at United, has high hopes for Ferguson's latest recruit.

"He has every opportunity, but he's got to blend with the first team," he said. "He is very, very promising, direct and quick. He likes to run in behind defenders, which is a good habit for strikers.

Faith

"If he is recommended by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer then you have to put faith in that."

It remains to be seen how Ferguson intends to use Diouf in the second half of the season.

Right now the United manager's main concern is the injury crisis in defence, which has obscured the problems he has endured up front.

Despite having plenty of numbers in Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov, Michael Owen, Welbeck and Macheda, he is yet to settle on a consistent partnership in attack.

While Rooney has scored 13 goals already, Owen has seven and Berbatov just four.

As a result Ferguson is continuing to weigh up moves for Wolfsburg's Dzeko, who has scored twice against United this season, and long-term target Villa from Valencia.

But it is the other end of the pitch that is giving Ferguson most food for thought over Christmas, with injuries to Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Jonny Evans, John O'Shea, Wes Brown and Gary Neville threatening to derail United's title challenge.

Meulensteen says it is a matter of staying in touch at the top until the cavalry return.

"It is a worry," he said. "A club like Manchester United are striving for all of the major trophies. The main thing to keep competing is to get everyone back fit when it matters.

"Hopefully we will get through this bad spell of injuries and when the big boys come back, still be in it."

Meanwhile, Meulensteen has revealed the part he played in Ryan Giggs' being named BBC Sport Personality of the Year.

Giggs was rewarded for an outstanding 12 months for United in which he won an incredible 11th Premier League title.

He has since been handed a one-year extension to his Old Trafford contract, with Ferguson saying the 36-year-old can go on for many years to come.

Meulensteen said: "I wasn't surprised. I was voting for him all the time. I had the phone on redial and must have had about 30 votes.

"I desperately wanted him to win. For me he was head and shoulders above the rest for what he's achieved. It is a lifetime award. Jenson Button has only won one world championship, but Ryan was surprised himself. It is great for him. A fantastic achievement.

"I have enormous respect for Gary Neville and the way he has come back from injuries and Paul Scholes has been one of the phenomenal players in terms of his passing and intelligence, but above all, Ryan Giggs is the complete package.

"I have never seen a player with such skill, vision and intelligence. He looks after himself and has a great sense of humour. He is fantastic."

MAN UTD WONDERKID DIOUF TO MAKE DEBUT
-dailyexpress.co.uk-

MAME Biram Diouf will finally make his Manchester United debut next month after being granted a work permit.

Sir Alex Ferguson signed the 22-year-old striker from Molde in the summer before allowing him to return to the Norwegian club on loan.

With 16 goals in 29 matches for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s former club this season, Diouf certainly offers Ferguson an option in attack where goals have been hard to come by of late.

Diouf is unavailable for the FA Cup third-round tie with Leeds at Old Trafford on January 3, but Ferguson feels he has a promising future ahead of him.

“If you’re talking about value then you can look at our young boy Diouf,” he said recently.

“He’s been training with us and is looking very exciting.

“That’s the kind of situation we’re good at, finding young players who can develop at the club, and at 22 years of age he’s looking very good.”

Mame Biram Diouf to provide Rooney some welcome relief…hopefully!
-footballfancast.com-

When Man Utd announced the signing of Mame Biram Diouf during the summer it wasn’t greeted with as much excitement as it was confusion. Many, if not most, had not heard of the young Senegalese striker that had been plying his trade in Norway’s Tippeligaen.

But for those that did, they saw an athletic pacy striker capable of scoring goals with either foot whilst being deadly in the air. Scoring 35 goals in 74 games his record was nothing to be sniffed at although not all of these appearances came whilst he lead the line as Molde would also employ him in wide positions.

After announcing his signing United loaned him back to Molde where he completed the season finishing 3rd top scorer with 17 goals and despite grabbing a brace in the cup final saw Molde lose on penalties to minnows Aalesund.

With their season over Diouf flew to Manchester to train with his new team and it was here, more than his performances in Norway, that he really made an impression.

It was thought that rather than apply for a work permit, United would loan him out again with Belgium or Molde again the destination but with Fergie proclaiming, “He’s been training with us and is looking very exciting”, United decided to pursue a work permit for the striker which he received yesterday.

United are used to have a wealth of striking talent and in recent years the likes of Van Nistelrooy, Cole, Solskjaer, Yorke and Sherringham having played upfront for us but our current strike force whilst still impressive doesn’t quite match up. Berbatov although a good striker has offered something different than goals now more effective in bringing other players into the attack whilst Owen has grabbed goals yet is being used mostly as a bench player.

Rooney has been on fire this season with 12 goals already but the addition of Diouf will be welcome as it takes some of the pressure off his shoulders.

Some will question if he can perform in the Premier League as it is massive step up in quality from Norway and there have been comparisons with a past United flop Manucho but there is a huge difference.

At just 22 he has plenty of time to develop whereas Manucho was 25, he has been constantly praised by United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer so United know full well what we are getting plus the Tippeligaen is of a higher standard to the Petro atletico that Manucho plied his trade in before joining United. So if he has the ability that Solskjaer and Ferguson believe him to then he has every chance to succeed at the club.

He is not available for the Leeds game, making the next possible date for his debut the derby game against Man City in the Carling Cup on January 6th. Ferguson will be reluctant to throw him in at the deep end but if he does it will be a good indication of how well Diouf will fare at Old Trafford.

Mame Biram Diouf is determined to make an immediate impact for Manchester United.

Diouf is poised to make his Manchester United debut next month after finally being granted a work permit.

Sir Alex Ferguson signed the striker from Molde in the summer before allowing him to return to the Norwegian club on loan.

Diouf said: "Playing for Manchester United has always been a dream of mine, ever since I was a small boy.

"I hope I will have a big impact in January and I am confident of playing very well."

Kehadirannya dinantikan banget nih...

United boss rules out blooding striker in City clash

Sir Alex Ferguson has ruled out starting new signing Mame Biram Diouf in the Carling Cup semi-final first-leg against Manchester City.

Manchester United signed the striker last summer from Molde but loaned him back to the Norwegian club while they applied for a work permit.

The work permit was granted on Wednesday but the 22-year-old is yet to receive international clearance making him ineligible to face Leeds in the FA Cup third round on January 3rd.

That means the City clash will be the next available fixture but despite impressing Ferguson in training the Red Devils boss admits the Senegalese ace will have to make do with a place on the bench at best.

"Mame has been training really well," the Scot said. "We are very pleased about that.

"He can't play in the Leeds United game but hopefully we will get international clearance by the time we face Manchester City in the semi-final.

"I wouldn't have thought we will start him in that game though. It will be too early."

"He can't play in the Leeds United game but hopefully we will get international clearance by the time we face Manchester City in the semi-final.

Mame Biram Diouf handed Carlos Tevez's old shirt as Sir Alex Ferguson says he is ready for Manchester United debut

Sir Alex Ferguson is set to give Senegal striker Mame Biram Diouf his Manchester United debut.

Diouf signed for United in the summer but remained at Norewgian club Molde on loan until the end of their domestic campaign.

The 22-year-old has impressed in training and Ferguson signalled his intentions by allocating his new recruit the number 32 shirt, formerly worn by Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez.

'He has adapted very well to our training regime and has looked very impressive,' Ferguson told Inside United.

'He is quick, very good in the air and a good striker of the ball. Overall, he is a really good centre-forward and he will play a part this season.'

HE nurtured and sold a future Old Trafford legend to United and now Age Hareide believes the Reds have another gem from Molde in the making.

Ex-City defender Hareide was boss at the Norwegian club in the 90s when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's goals attracted United's attention.

The 23-year-old arrived as an unknown for £1.5m in 1996 and became a European Cup-winning goal hero.

On Solskjaer's advice, Sir Alex Ferguson returned to Norway last summer to plunder Molde's latest strike sensation.

Senegalese forward Mame Biram Diouf was snapped up and loaned back for the Norwegian season which ended in November.

A January work permit was granted and the 22-year-old made his first appearance for United for nine minutes against Birmingham City last Saturday.

His brief cameo at St Andrews was hampered by Darren Fletcher's red card that forced Fergie to scrap his plans operating with the newcomer as a partner to Wayne Rooney. Instead Diouf had a lone role.

Fourteen years ago Solskjaer's impact was instant, scoring an Old Trafford equaliser against Blackburn Rovers after coming on eight minutes earlier.

And though Hareide, who played for the Blues in the 80s and now manages Viking FK, believes Diouf has the potential to be a United star, he might take a bit more time to impose himself.

"First and foremost there is no doubt in my mind that Mame has the potential to climb the ladder and he has the ability to survive and cut it on the Premier League stage," Age told M.E.N. Sport.

"It doesn't surprise me United have bought him because they have a great eye for a young player. United have done well again to see the potential in the guy.

Diouf potential

"He is good raw material and there is no better place for him to be in terms of getting the chance to build on that and there is no better manager than Sir Alex Ferguson to bring out the best in him. There is more pressure on him now than when Ole Gunnar went to United. Solskjaer was an unknown and so the fans didn't expect much of him.

"But because of him and the Molde connection the supporters might be anticipating something special from day one.

"Ole had a goalscoring capacity. It was his speciality and if you kick off with a goal then it makes headlines and fans take to you.

"Mame is a different forward to Solskjaer. United fans shouldn't expect the new Ole. He is not a natural goalscorer so it will be harder for him.

"But he has terrific speed. The game is so different now to the 90s when Ole went to Old Trafford. It is quicker and Mame's athleticism is great for the modern game.

"He's scored goals in Norway but he's going to have to work on that side of his game in England."

Progress

Between 2007 and 2009 after signing for Molde from Dakar-based Senegalese side Diaraf, Diouf scored 29 goals in 63 league matches and added another four in 12 appearances in the season just ended.

But Hareide insists United's new import won't shy away from the practise ground in a bid to progress.

"Like Ole, Mame is a great character. He's a lovely lad and has a great willingness to work hard. He will listen and learn," added Age.

"You need to be strong in the head to compete at Manchester United because there are so many very good players at the club and there is a pressure to perform

"But mentally that won't bother Mame. He'll get the best guidance in the world under Sir Alex and he will make good use of it because he wants to get better and is prepared to put the hours in.

"Diouf can create and make chances. He's unselfish for a goalscorer and will work to help anyone on the pitch.

"The area he needs to work on is his finishing technique. Ole had great technique and he always knew that it was no use waiting for the next chance to come along you had to do your best to convert the first one. He was clinical and that's why he scored so many.

"Mame needs to become sharper and more selfish in the box. It is great creating chances but when you are a United striker it is no use creating many and scoring few. His goal output will need to be higher. He needs to build his reputation as a scorer.

"You cannot switch off or have a bad day in the red shirt because you will lose your place. I think that pressure and intensity will help his game."

Manchester United's Mame Biram Diouf has 'fantastic potential', says Solskjaer
Manchester United reserve team coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hailed striker Mame Biram Diouf as "one for the future" after he marked his second-string debut with a hat-trick.

By Rob Stewart
Published: 9:32AM GMT 22 Jan 2010

http://i.telegraph.co.uk/telegraph/multimedia/archive/01563/diouf_1563963c.jpg

Solskjaer saluted Diouf, 22, after he moved into contention for a place in the squad to face Hull City this weekend with three goals against Sunderland at the Eppleton Colliery Welfare ground on Wearside.

The Senegal-born striker, who also scored on his Premier League debut for Manchester United, stole the show in a 4-0 victory at Sunderland which saw Federico Macheda return to action following injury.

Afterwards, Solskjaer, who like Diouf played for Norwegian side Molde before heading to Old Trafford, sang the praises of Diouf as well as his fellow aspiring first-teamers Macheda and goalkeeper Ben Foster.

"Diouf is a young lad and he will get his chances but he is one that we have brought in for the future," Solskjaer told Telegraph Sport.

"He is a different kind of player to what we have up front. Of course, when you sign players you hope that they are going to establish themselves as first team players.

"He has fantastic potential. He is a fantastic athlete and he has a fantastic attitude plus he is a good finisher as you saw here tonight so we are very pleased for far with the start that he has made.

"I don't think I need to give him any advice because I have already got to know him a bit. I have seen him in Norway and I have spoken to him a bit and he is very down to earth and he knows what he wants."

Solskjaer, who brought off Diouf midway through the second-half in readiness for Hull, was equally satisfied that Macheda had stepped up his recovery from injury.

"It is very pleasing that he has come back," Solskjaer added. "He has been out for a very long time which has been difficult for him and now is the time for him to kick on and keep working hard.

"He got 20 minutes under his belt and I know it is only reserve team football but that is important to him."

Foster also came in for praise following his clean sheet from the club's 1999 Treble winner.

He continued: "Ben made three magnificent saves - two in the second half, one in the first. He has always been a good shot-stopper but he is maturing all the time in his overall play. His understanding of when to quicken it up and his cross-taking- everything has improved a lot."

Move over Michael Owen and Dimitar Berbatov: Manchester United striker Mame Biram Diouf bags reserve team hat-trick

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/01/22/article-0-07CEF1F5000005DC-722_468x318.jpg

Mame Biram Diouf has put himself in contention for a place in the Manchester United squad to face Hull on Saturday by scoring a reserve team hat-trick.

The Senegal-born front-man got his three-timer in a 4-0 triumph at Sunderland which is bound to receive a glowing report from Red Devils reserve boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Diouf has already made two substitute appearances since his arrival from Molde - Solskjaer's former club - this month and scored his first goal against Burnley last week.l

And, with Sir Alex Ferguson needing to keep an element of freshness in his team for next week's Carling Cup decider with Manchester City, Diouf could get the call as United look to go top of the Premier League by beating Hull at Old Trafford.

Gabriel Obertan and Danny Welbeck were also involved in a match watched by Black Cats boss Steve Bruce, while Ferguson will also be delighted that Federico Macheda made a 15-minute appearance after a lengthy spell out through injury.

Brother of United's Mame Biram Diouf beaten up after Manchester derby
The Guardian, Monday 19 April 2010

Manchester United's jubilation after a weekend that reinvigorated their title hopes has been tempered by the news that the brother of their striker Mame Biram Diouf was beaten up during a prolonged outbreak of violence after the derby victory against Manchester City.

Abdul Diouf, visiting his younger sibling while on holiday from Dakar, was punched and kicked to the ground because he was wearing his brother's shirt from the Carling Cup final, with the player's surname emblazoned above the number 32 – as worn previously by Carlos Tevez.

Witnesses said the 28-year-old was set upon after "walking the wrong way" during large-scale disorder outside the City of Manchester stadium. He was struck several times but did not lose consciousness. "He was attacked from behind by some Manchester City supporters as he was walking away from the ground," Jim Solbakken, Diouf's agent, said. "Fortunately he managed to get away without any bad injuries and he did not need medical treatment."

His attackers were heard shouting "Munich" in reference to the Munich air disaster in 1958 when a plane carrying United's team crashed, killing 23 people including eight of Sir Matt Busby's players.

Diouf, a 22-year-old Senegal international, signed for United from Molde last July but was loaned back to the Norwegian club for the rest of the Tippeligaen season. He moved to Old Trafford in January and scored his first goal a few weeks later in the 3-0 home defeat of Burnley, celebrating with a flip in front of the Stretford End. But he has been only on the fringe of the first-team squad, making five appearances, and was not in contention for the derby because of an injury.

The forward, signed on the recommendation of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after averaging nearly a goal every two games for Molde, is said to be shocked and surprised about Saturday's incident, having not been fully aware of the hostile relationship between the two Manchester clubs. After hearing the details he was described as relieved and thankful that his brother avoided being hurt more seriously than bruises and cuts to his face and body. Sir Alex Ferguson has been informed and is expected to speak to his player today.

He has contacted relatives in Senegal and spoke last night to his younger brother, Mame Mbar, a 19-year-old striker with Molde who is on loan at Sarpsborg 08 in Norway's second division. Diouf about it .

Paul Scholes's winner for United in the third minute of stoppage time took Ferguson's team to within a point of Chelsea with three games to go and set off clashes outside the stadium between mounted police and a large group of City's supporters who were trying to confront the United fans. At the height of the trouble there was an attempt to overturn a police van. One fan was seen throwing horse dung at United's supporters with his bare hands.

During the day the police made 20 arrests, including 10 for public order offences and one for breaching a banning order. When the teams met in the Carling Cup semi-final in January, police searches at the gates led to golf balls and darts being confiscated from the United fans. On this occasion no weapons were found.

Some supporters have questioned why Greater Manchester police allowed the two sets of supporters to leave at the same time, particularly bearing in mind the volatile way the game had ended. Scholes's winner sparked scenes of wild celebration from the United players and, despite being specifically asked beforehand not to do anything that could provoke the crowd, Gary Neville made a point of grabbing the badge on his shirt as he ran in front of the home supporters.

The police have decided to take a tolerant line and will not raise the issue with United, the view being that the celebrations were not excessive. If anything, the police feel the United players helped keep the visiting fans in the stadium by congregating in front of the away section.

Kakak Penyerang MU Dihajar Suporter City

http://www.kompas.com/data/photo/2010/04/20/0818095p.jpg

MANCHESTER, KOMPAS.com — Kakak penyerang Manchester United, Mame Biram Diouf, Abdul Diouf, mengungkapkan, dirinya ditendangi dan dipukuli oleh para pendukung Manchester City, seusai derbi Manchester, Sabtu (17/4/2010). Namun, menurut agen Mame, Jim Solbakkensaat, Abdul tak mengalami cedera serius.

(DM/TO)

Sochaux had been tracking the 23-year-old during his time in Norway and are still keen.

Official: Blackburn Rovers Sign Manchester United Striker Mame Biram Diouf On Season-Long Loan
Starlet to spend campaign at Ewood Park.
By Chris Myson
Aug 6, 2010 6:10:00 PM
GOAL.COM

Blackburn Rovers have signed striker Mame Biram Diouf from Manchester United on a season-long loan deal.

The 22-year-old arrives at Ewood Park to bolster Sam Allardyce’s attacking options ahead of the new Premier League season.

Chances of first-team action at Old Trafford appeared to be slim for Diouf, with fellow forwards Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov, Michael Owen, Javier Hernandez and Federico Macheda all ahead of him in the pecking order.

Diouf arrived at Old Trafford from Molde – the former club of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – in January of 2010 after scoring 33 goals in 75 matches for the Norwegian side.

He has made six appearances for the Red Devils, scoring once against Burnley, and may go straight into his new side’s squad for their friendly match against Scottish Premier League side Hearts on Saturday.

He will then meet up with Senegal’s Under-21 team to play a midweek friendly, but will be back to be in contention for the league opener against Everton.

Croatian international Nikola Kalinic is likely to be Diouf’s main rival for a starting spot at Ewood Park as the starlet looks to gain first-team experience at the top level.

Allardyce has been short on attacking options after the end of Chelsea youngster Franco Di Santo’s loan deal and departure of Benni McCarthy to West Ham United last season.

Another young United striker, Danny Welbeck, has been linked with a loan switch to Sunderland and seems set for a temporary departure.

But manager Sir Alex Ferguson has decided that midfielder Tom Cleverley, who was being chased by Newcastle United and Bolton Wanderers, will not be leaving the club on loan.

Report: Hearts 1-1 Rovers
Posted on: Sun 08 Aug 2010

http://www.rovers.co.uk/javaImages/8f/ad/0,,10303~8957327,00.jpg

Senegalese striker Mame Biram Diouf scored on his Rovers debut as Sam Allardyce's men warmed up for the new Premier League season with a 1-1 draw away to Hearts.

The 22-year-old, on loan from Manchester United, was on the mark within 15 minutes of coming on as a second-half substitute.

=== cut ===

Hearts went ahead on 22 minutes when a shot from the edge of the box by Santana took a wicked deflection and looped over Bunn into the left-hand corner of the net.

Mame Biram Diouf came on for the start of the second half as a straight swap for Blackman, but it was Hearts who had the first chance after the break when a free-kick by Craig Thomson was well tipped over by Bunn.

But on the hour mark, new boy Diouf was on the mark as he streered a low shot in to the net from the left-hand side of the box after Pedersen had touched on a cross from the right by El-Hadji Diouf.

The Manchester United youngster agreed to a season-long switch to Ewood Park earlier this month in a bid to get to grips with the standard of the Premier League.

Diouf, 22, impressed in his six appearances for the Red Devils last term and will team up with one of his heroes in El Hadji Diouf - one of the key reasons behind his move.

"I don't know much about Blackburn, but I know a lot about El Hadji," said Blackburn's new recruit, who has four caps for Senegal.

"It's a dream come true to have the opportunity to play alongside him. It's a good thing for me that he's here because I know I have someone who can help me.

"I used to follow him when I was younger because he is one of the best players in our country.

"A lot of young people look up to him and it's a dream for me to be by his side. This is a challenge for me - a chance to show people who I am and how I play."

Mame Biram has one goal to his name in English football since his move from Norwegian side Molde and he hopes to enhance his reputation under Rovers boss Sam Allardyce before returning to Old Trafford.

"I hope I can score as many goals as possible and then we'll see what happens in the future."

"It's not about getting attention from United"
sport.co.uk, Ben Moss - 08 September 2010 - 14:09

Mame Biram Diouf is only interested in performing well for Blackburn Rovers this season rather than catching the eye of his permanent employers Manchester United.

The 22-year-old has started his season long loan at Ewood Park in impressive fashion, scoring a hattrick in the League Cup and netting against Chelsea in the Premier League, and while Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will undoubtedly have noticed the Senegalese youngster’s scoring start for Sam Allardyce’s side, Diouf maintains his priority lies with Blackburn for the foreseeable future.

Diouf has been earmarked as one for the future by Manchester United, but the impressive forward believes the move to Blackburn Rovers was the perfect opportunity to play first team football.

He told the Lancashire Telegraph: “Being here at Blackburn been quite good for me.

“I’m just trying to enjoy it as much as I can.

“I have made the right decision coming here.

“It was a good thing for me to come here because the only thing I wanted to play games, so as long as I’m playing it’s good.

“For me it’s not about getting attention from United now. It’s about working hard for the team I’m playing for.

“Now I’m playing for Blackburn so I have to give my best here.

“I will be focused on Blackburn now and we will see after.”

Diouf ready to fight for Manchester United future

By talkSPORT
Tuesday, March 8

Manchester United striker Mame Biram Diouf admits he longs for a return to Molde but he has vowed to fight for his Old Trafford future next season.

The Senegalese striker moved to United last summer after scouts were impressed with his performances at Molde.

United and the Norwegian club have a good relationship following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's move from there to Manchester in 1996 and the Old Trafford legend currently manages his home town side.

Diouf has made just six appearances - all as sub - for United so far, scoring once, and he's currently on loan at Blackburn.

The striker has scored six goals for Rovers this season but is rumoured to be one of the casualties from a suspected Old Trafford clear out this summer.

But Diouf, 23, says he is desperate to make it at United although he does miss Molde.

"I travel to Molde whenever I get the chance. I have a lot of friends there, and I miss it. It's my second home," he said.

"I have to be at my best to play for United. It's a big club, and only my best will be good enough, but that is my goal."

Mame Biram Diouf turns up after prenuptial disappearance

The Manchester United striker Mame Biram Diouf arrived in Norway on Thursday ahead of his wedding to Mary Orten in Molde on Saturday, ending one of the summer's more unusual missing person hunts.

On Wednesday the bride-to-be wrote on Twitter: "Supposed to be getting married in three days ... and the groom has disappeared off the face of the earth." Contacted by Dagbladet, the 20-year-old said : "I think there's some foul play going on.

He hasn't answered my calls in five days. I've heard other people have spoken to him, so I don't think it's as scary as it sounds." She blamed the disappearance on the best man, the Molde midfielder Pape Paté Diouf. "That would be typical of them," she said.

The panic, however, ended on Thursday when Diouf, who spent last season on loan at Blackburn, finally got in touch with his girlfriend of four years, though Orten was banned from revealing the reason behind his disappearance.

United striker could still leave Old Trafford - reports
Manchester United - Mame Birman Diouf still allowed to leave on loan

Mame Biram Diouf could still leave Manchester United on loan in the coming days, it has been claimed.

According to talkSPORT, the Senegalese striker was the subject of interest during the before the transfer deadline, and could yet temporarily leave Manchester due to the loan window still being open.

Diouf spent last season on loan with Blackburn, with Steve Kean reported to be considering bringing the 23-year-old back to Ewood Park.

During his time with Blackburn, Diouf netted six goals in 30 appearances, but returned to Old Trafford at the end of the last campaign.

He has since been linked with a move to former club FK Molde, who are managed by former United favourite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Norweigan club gave Diouf his first crack at football in Europe, before he moved to Old Trafford in May 2009.

Bukannya meragukan kualitasnya, namun sepertinya berat bagi Diouf masuk jajaran tim utama United. Saya merasa cepat atau lambat dia akan dilepas ke klub lain deh ...

Reds agree Diouf sale

Manchester United have agreed to sell Mame Biram Diouf to Hannover 96 for an undisclosed transfer fee.

The Senegalese striker was undergoing a medical with the German club on Saturday. If the move goes through, he'll be the third player to be sold by the Reds during this January transfer window following the departures of Darron Gibson to Everton and Danny Drinkwater to Leicester City.

Diouf has netted 10 goals for United Reserves this season, making him the joint-top scorer with Will Keane in Warren Joyce's side. However, his first-team action has been limited to just three starts in the Carling Cup, the away victories over Leeds United and Aldershot and the home defeat to Crystal Palace.

Signed from Norwegian club Molde FK in July 2009, Diouf made his debut in the away league match against Birmingham City in January 2010. He went on to make nine senior appearances in total for the Reds, scoring one goal.

Diouf also gained valuable experience during a season-long loan spell at Blackburn Rovers in 2010/11, when he scored six goals in 30 games.
