[EPL] Man Utd vs Wolves
Rabu, 16 Desember 2009
Kick Off: 03.00 WIB
Venue: Old Trafford Stadium

Manchester United vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

pertahankan konsistensi, focus and fight till the end ...

Walah, midweek euy...
Ini mah udah pasti gak bisa nonton...
Doanya saja lah biar United bisa menang...
Klo liat masih banyak yg cedera, kaya'nya SAF tetap bakal me-mix 'n match-kan yg muda2 ama yg tua2...
Moga2 NV15 udah sembuh, bahkan sejak lawan Aston Villa...
Klo kiper sih, gpp lah klo TK29 yg maen lagi, asal jangan BF12..... :peace:
Prediksi gw nih:
AV25 (1) + DG28 (1) vs 0 Wolves

insyaAllah bisa re-bounce niih di partai ini..
tiga hari mungkin waktu yg sangat cepat, tapi gw yakin opa SAF pasti bisa menemukan racikan yg pas saat melawan Wolves dan tentunya sdh me-review apa² aja yg kurang saat melawan Aston Villa tadi..

I'm hoping for a pure right-back on tuesday's match, karena tadi mlm Fletcher keliatannya sedikit agak kurang cocok u/ berlama-lama jadi RB.. I believe for a victory on our next match..!!

Liga Inggris Tengah Pekan Ini
Dua Kuda Berpacu Lagi
Arya Perdhana - detiksport

http://www.detiksport.com/images/content/2009/12/14/72/Rooney3-isi.jpg

Manchester United likely to face Wolves without Ryan Giggs

• Welsh midfielder suffered hamstring injury at weekend
• United could draw level with Chelsea if they win

The new BBC Sports Personality of the Year, Ryan Giggs, is doubtful for Manchester United's Premier League match against Wolves at Old Trafford tomorrow.

Giggs was forced out of Saturday's home defeat to Aston Villa at half-time with a hamstring injury and it seems unlikely the 36-year-old's fitness will be risked so soon by Sir Alex Ferguson.

Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen will hope to be involved for the Red Devils, who have already beaten Wolves in the Carling Cup this season and after their defeat on Saturday night will not want to waste a second chance to draw level on points with the leaders, Chelsea.

Manchester United squad: Kuszczak, Foster, Fletcher, Vidic, Brown, De Laet, Evra, Park, Nani, Valencia, Obertan, Anderson, Carrick, Scholes, Gibson, Giggs, Rooney, Berbatov, Owen, Welbeck.

Gw perhatiin urutan penulisan skuad United...
Kok DF24 ditulis abis TK29 ama BF12?? Apa ini tanda DF24 bakal dimaenin jadi right back lagi??? Gw lbh suka dia jd midfield...
Kenapa gak WB6 aja ya yg right back, biar RDL30 tandem ama NV15 di tengah...
Liat ntar aja deh, abis yg murni back cuma ada 4 gitu, terbatas banget yaks? :(

After failing to close the gap on Chelsea at the weekend, the Reds will be determined to get back to winning ways against an improving Wolves side…

Form guide: Wolves’ season appears to be turning the corner after a difficult start to the campaign. They hadn’t won in eight Premier League games before the start of December, but 1-0 wins against Bolton and Tottenham have lifted them out of the bottom three. United were in fine fettle before Saturday’s defeat to Villa, having won the three previous league games comfortably. A victory will take the Reds temporarily level on points with Chelsea, who play on Wednesday. United beat Wolves 1-0 in the Carling Cup at OT in September.

Ins and outs: Wolves midfielder David Edwards has been ruled out for up to 10 weeks with an ankle ligament injury. Winger Michael Kightly also faces up to eight weeks out as he needs ankle surgery. For the Reds, 2009 Sports Personality of the Year Ryan Giggs is a doubt after being substituted at half-time on Saturday due to a reported hamstring injury. Jonny Evans, John O’Shea, Rio Ferdinand and Owen Hargreaves remain on the sidelines, while Edwin van der Sar might have to wait until the weekend to play again. On the positive side, Rafael could be in line for a return to the squad to bolster United’s defence.

Star man: Kevin Doyle has scored freely throughout his career, and is Wolves’ top scorer this season with four goals. The 26-year-old striker got the early winner against Tottenham at the weekend. He arrived at Molineux in the summer for a club-record fee from Reading, for whom he had netted 55

Manchester United (2nd) v Wolverhampton Wanderers (17th)

Resurgent Wolves face possibly their toughest test yet as they travel to Old Trafford to take on a Manchester United side still reeling from the defeat by Aston Villa.

Manchester United team news

New BBC Sports Personality of the Year Ryan Giggs is doubtful for Manchester United's Barclays Premier League fixture with Wolves on Tuesday night.

Giggs was forced out of Saturday's surprise home defeat to Aston Villa with a hamstring injury and, given the 36-year-old's past problems, it seems unlikely he will be risked by Sir Alex Ferguson.

Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen will hope to be involved for the Red Devils, who have already beaten Wolves in the Carling Cup this season and will not want to waste a second chance to draw level on points with leaders Chelsea.

Wolves team news

Wolves' versatile right-back Kevin Foley has been put on alert to make his first start for more than two months.

Foley, whose season has been ruined by knee problems, is set to be drafted in on the right hand side of midfield.

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has a hole to fill there after David Edwards was ruled out for up to 10 weeks with the ankle ligament damage he suffered against Tottenham last weekend.

Former Sunderland midfielder Greg Halford is also in contention to replace Edwards, but Foley looks set to make only his fourth start of the season.

McCarthy, who is also still without long-term injury victims Michael Kightly, Andy Keogh and David Jones, plans to make further changes to his side following the effort his players put in during the 1-0 win at Tottenham.

But he is keeping those changes under wraps until the eve of the match.

squads

Manchester United: Kuszczak, Foster, Fletcher, Vidic, Brown, De Laet, Evra, Park, Nani, Valencia, Obertan, Anderson, Carrick, Scholes, Gibson, Giggs, Rooney, Berbatov, Owen, Welbeck.

Wolves: Hahnemann, Stearman, Craddock, Berra, Ward, Foley, Henry, Milijas, Jarvis, Doyle, Ebanks-Blake, Surman, Mancienne, Iwelumo, Hill, Maierhofer, Castillo, Elokobi, Halford, Hennessey.

BERBATOV PRAISE FOR HIS GAFFER

SIR Alex Ferguson will celebrate his 900th league game as Manchester United manager against Wolves tonight.

And striker Dimitar Berbatov believes the presence of Ferguson is a massive boost for any player wanting to improve his game.

The Bulgarian said: “The manager is so many years in charge of this great club that of course you are going to learn things.

“If you want to develop, this is the place to be.

“He is the type of manager who always protects his players.”

Berbatov, 28, joined United from Spurs last September for £30.75m and he will be hoping to add to his total of four goals this season when he faces Wolves tonight.

He said: “I try to give my best for the team to win things. “I think I did that in my first season.

“We won the championship and I think everybody was happy about that.”

Berbatov is enjoying life at Old Trafford and said: “I am happy here. I love it.”

The striker is poised to start alongside Wayne Rooney, while Paul Scholes, who was suspended for Saturday’s defeat by Aston Villa, is set to return tonight.

Rafael da Silva has been declared fit and is likely to play at right-back.

Fergie Menatap 900
Fajar Pratama - detiksport

Jelang MU vs Wolves
Mewaspadai Gigitan 'Serigala'
Fajar Pratama - detiksport

http://www.detiksport.com/images/content/2009/12/15/72/serigala-afp.jpg

Rafael is in contention to return at right back while Paul Scholes is back from suspension to take on Wolves tonight.
The Brazilian's return to fitness looks set to allow Darren Fletcher to move into his more accustomed central midfield role, with Anderson and Michael Carrick under pressure for their places after the defeat to Aston Villa.

Rio Ferdinand, John O'Shea, Jonny Evans, Gary Neville and Fabio da Silva are still out, so Wes Brown is expected to partner Nemanja Vidic again in the middle fo the defence.

Tomasz Kuszczak will start ahead of Ben Foster with Edwin van der Sar possibly in line to return against his old club Fulham on Saturday.

Scholes is available after serving a one-match ban for collecting five yellow cards but Ryan Giggs is doubtful with a hamstring injury.

Do or die for United - McCarthy
-clubcall.com-

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy believes Tuesday's game with Manchester United is a must win one for the championship contenders.
Sir Alex Ferguson's men were beaten 1-0 at home by Aston Villa on Saturday, failing to take advantage of Chelsea's draw with Everton in the Premier League title race.

The defending champions now face Wolves at Old Trafford, a side who have won their last two games, including victory at Tottenham on Saturday, as they climbed out of the bottom three.

However, Wolves have already lost at Old Trafford this season in the Carling Cup, their last victory on United's patch coming in 1980. and without the likes of Andy Keogh, Michael Kightly and David Edwards available for the game punters may fancy using their free bet to back United to win comfortably.

McCarthy claims that if United want to be considered title contenders they should be aiming to beat Wolves, although the former Sunderland boss says he has other ideas.

"They've got to beat us. They have to," he told Sky Sports News.

"If they want to be champions they can't lose to Villa and then not beat Wolverhampton.

"In that, that might just give us a chance."

Discipline the key - boss
-clubcall.com-

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy is bracing himself for a backlash from Manchester United after they lost at home to Aston Villa.
McCarthy takes his troops to Old Trafford tonight full of confidence after the surprise success at Tottenham on Saturday but he is very wary of the what the trip holds as he points out United rarely lose two on the bounce at home.

McCarthy said: "They must be rubbing their hands together to be playing Wolves at home.

"They must be thinking, 'Wolves are coming and we have just been beaten by Villa ... If ever there is a chance to get yourself back on track it is to slap these insolent little so and sos coming up from the Black Country and we are going to give them the biggest doing they have ever had.' I would be thinking that if I was a Manchester United player. I would be rubbing my hands with glee that we were coming up.

"The lads who are playing will be wanting to win the game. But we will not be going and chasing it and playing free open and expansive football because if we do they will beat us. Let's clear that up. We will be cautious and disciplined like we were at Tottenham."

Landmark for Ferguson as McCarthy plots upset

Sir Alex Ferguson will hope to celebrate his 900th league game as Manchester United manager by avoiding another shock home defeat as Wolves head to Old Trafford.

Gabriel Agbonlahor's first-half header earned Aston Villa a first win at United in 26 years on Saturday and denied the reigning Premier League champions the chance to move level on points with current leaders Chelsea.

Having failed to take advantage of their title rivals' own stutter at the weekend, three points over Wolves will draw the Red Devils level with Carlo Ancelotti's side, albeit potentially for only 24 hours.

Ferguson's team dominated possession against Villa, but struggled to create many clear-cut chances and that will be something he will be out to address on Tuesday night.

However, Ferguson is likely to find Wolves, who beat United 1-0 at home in 2004, will be in a mood to match Villa's non-stop endeavour after Mick McCarthy's men earned a surprise 1-0 success at Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend.

The two teams have met once at Old Trafford already this season, with Danny Welbeck's goal securing a 1-0 win for United in the third round of the Carling Cup in September.

United news

United will be much-changed from that game and Ferguson may also receive a boost on the defensive front with Rafael da Silva possibly available after injury.

If Rafael is passed fit to play, he could come in at right-back to allow Darren Fletcher to move into his more accustomed central midfield role.

Rio Ferdinand, John O'Shea, Jonny Evans, Gary Neville and Fabio da Silva are still sidelined, so Wes Brown will continue to partner Nemanja Vidic at centre-half.

Veteran goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar is unlikely to return before Saturday's trip to his former club Fulham, so Tomasz Kuszczak is again expected to start ahead of Ben Foster.

Ryan Giggs is a doubt due to a hamstring injury which forced him off at half-time against Villa, but Paul Scholes is available after serving a one-match ban for collecting five yellow cards this season.

Wayne Rooney ploughed a lone furrow against Villa, so Ferguson may decide to give the England striker a partner, with Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen both hoping to get the nod.

Wolves news

Wolves boss McCarthy has suffered a fresh injury blow ahead of the game as he plans changes to the team which performed heroically at Spurs.

David Edwards has been ruled out for 10 weeks with an ankle injury picked up in that game and he joins Andy Keogh and Michael Kightly on the sidelines.

McCarthy admits the efforts at White Hart Lane took a lot out of his players, so he is weighing up which positions to freshen up.

Chris Iwelumo made a late substitute's appearance at Spurs after a foot injury, but he is again likely to be on the bench.

Defender Ronald Zubar missed out at the weekend with an ongoing thigh strain and may not yet be ready to return.

Possible XIs:

Man Utd: Kuszczak, Rafael, Brown, Vidic, Evra, Valencia, Fletcher, Scholes, Obertan, Berbatov, Rooney

Wolves: Hahnemann, Craddock, Stearman, Berra, Henry, Jarvis, Milijas, Foley, Castillo, Ward, Doyle

SYLVAN EBANKS-BLAKE insists Wolves will not be pushovers when they visit Old Trafford tonight.

The striker left Manchester United in 2006 having just one appearance in the Carling Cup at his boyhood club.

But he went on to prove himself as one of the Championship's most potent strikers as Wolves won promotion last season.

And Ebanks-Blake thinks his team-mates have enough ability to cause an upset against United.

He said: "We got promoted with a lot of good players and we've signed even more over the summer.

"We won the Championship last season so we're not short of quality players.

"Obviously the Premier League is a different level but there's no reason why we can't compete at the top.

"As a unit we're a good strong team and we're still pretty confident after winning the league last season."

Despite leaving United at just 20, Ebanks-Blakes added: "I don't have anything to prove.

"I had a really good time at United but I moved on and I've tried to shape my career elsewhere.

"I had a terrific education at Old Trafford and they were great years.

"I learnt a lot from moving up to Manchester at a young age and I got the chance to work with top coaches and top players.

"It taught me a hell of a lot and set me in good stead for what I'm achieving now.

"I have really special memories, including little things like the digs I stayed in when I arrived.

"There aren't many better places to learn how to play football, that's for sure.

"The club has a great tradition of nurturing young players and helping them either break into the first-team or have successful careers elsewhere.

"I feel privileged that I was able to sample that and go on and forge a career elsewhere."

Manchester United are unlikely to risk midfielder Ryan Giggs, who was forced off against Aston Villa after suffering a slight hamstring problem.

Darren Fletcher is set to continue as a make-shift right-back.

Wolves could be without Dave Edwards for up to 10 weeks after the midfielder picked up an ankle ligament injury against Tottenham on Saturday.

MATCH PREVIEW

We may be entering the season of goodwill to all men, but Sir Alex Ferguson will demand Manchester United rediscover their ruthless streak against Wolves.

Chelsea's pre-Christmas stumbles presented the champions with a gift-wrapped chance to join the Blues at the top on Saturday evening, but a surprise loss to Aston Villa saw the Red Devils blow their chance.

A win against Wolves would partially make amends, taking Ferguson's side level on points with the Londoners for at least 24 hours.

Defeat on Saturday was the Red Devils' first at home to Villa since 1983, coinciding neatly with the last time Wolves won back-to-back games in the top flight.

That record was also ended on Saturday, with Kevin Doyle's header at Tottenham giving the all-gold side successive wins for the first time in 26 years.

MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

• Wolves' last win away to Manchester United came on 9 February 1980.

• The Red Devils have won three of their last four league and cup games against Wolves, though they were beaten 1-0 at Molineux in a top-flight game on 17 January 2004.

Man Utd

• The Red Devils are the only team in the Premier League who have not dropped any points from a winning position in the league this season.

• The loss to Villa was only their second defeat in 32 Premier League games at Old Trafford. It was their first home loss since a 4-1 thrashing against Liverpool on 14 March.

• This will be Sir Alex Ferguson's 900th league match in charge of the Red Devils.

• Paul Scholes has scored 99 Premier League goals, while Michael Owen's next appearance will be his 300th in the Premier League.

Wolves

• Victory against Tottenham gave Wolves back-to-back wins in the top flight for the first time since 1983.

• Wolves have secured 15 points from a possible 81 away from home in the Premier League.

• The win at White Hart Lane saw them claim only their second clean sheet of the season.

Owen should've scored, he had some scoring chances but failed to make it happened. Welbeck shootingnya agak ragu², dua kali kesempatan tapi ngarah ke kiper semua. Valencia juga terlalu mikir² sebelum passing. at least, dia punya 2-3 kali kesempatan u/ assist ke owen & berba di 10 menit terakhir. berba juga niih, menit² akhir malah makin melambat mainnya. but overall, it's a well deserved victory for the United lads.. for now we have the same point as Chelsea..

MU Hantam Wolves Tiga Gol Tanpa Balas

Reuters

Manchester - Manchester United meraih kemenangan nyaman atas Wolverhampton di Old Trafford, Rabu (16/12/2009) dinihari WIB. 'Setan Merah' menggasak tamunya 3-0.

Keunggulan MU digandakan dua menit sebelum jeda.

Wellbeck kembali mengancam lima menit sebelum bubaran.

Susunan Pemain:

Man Utd: Kuszczak; Evra, Vidic (Flethcer '60), De Laet, Carrick, Scholes, Valencia, Gibson, Berbatov, Rooney (Owen '75), Obertan (Wellbeck '71).

Wolverhampton: Hahnemann; Elokobi, Zubar, Hill, Mancienne, Friend (Jarvis '60), Foley, Surman, Halford (Jones '76), Castillo, Maierhofer (Iwelumo '54).

UNITED eased level with leaders Chelsea - for 24 hours at least - after Mick McCarthy made the most bizarre decision of his managerial career.

The Wolves boss rested all 10 outfield players - despite his struggling side recording a second successive win just three days earlier.

Wayne Rooney's penalty and Nemanja Vidic's header promptly rewarded United's first-half control.

Then Antonio Valencia's brilliant volley completed a routine victory following a low-key second period.

And Wolves dropped into the bottom three due to Bolton's defeat of West Ham.

Yet the visitors made a lively start.

George Friend curled over an early cross from the left, which Patrice Evra cleared.

However, predictably, it was United who had the first clear chance when Wayne Rooney got in the way of a long-range effort from Darron Gibson.

The ball bounced kindly for Rooney but he was unable to beat Hahnemann from eight yards.

Michael Mancienne headed an Evra cross away from the six-yard area, then George Elokobi did the same when Rooney sent over a teaser from the right aimed at Berbatov.

Stefan Maierhofer screwed a clearance over his own bar after Antonio Valencia had crossed, then Rooney arrived at the near post to meet Evra's low cross but Hahnemann made the save at point-blank range.

Tomasz Kuszczak blasted an attempted clearance straight into touch, much to the delight of the noisy gathering of Wolves fans.

Paul Scholes delivered a superb long pass to Rooney, which would have given the England man a clear sight of goal if he had been able to retain his footing after bringing the ball down.

Wolves could be quite pleased with their efforts and they might even have gone in front when Maierhofer's flicked header caused hesitation in the United box, allowing Friend to skim the bar with a half-volley.

Kuszczak came to collect Andrew Surman's free-kick but the Pole dropped it in a crowded penalty area and was fortunate he was able to turn and smother before any Wolves player had the chance to react.

Rooney then turned onto Evra's cross but his shot flicked wide off Mancienne.

The corner brought another clear sight of goal for stand-in skipper Vidic after Carrick had hooked a pass into the Serbian's path.

But Vidic could not keep his shot down and it soared over the bar.

Unbelievably, if Wolves had not given United enough of an advantage, they also gifted their hosts a penalty as Ronald Zubar jumped to head Gibson's corner away from danger and instead punched the ball.

Referee Steve Bennett correctly pointed to the spot and, after a struggle to place the ball the way he wanted, Rooney drilled home.

Zubar took on Obertan for pace as he galloped down the right flank but his cross rolled out of the area with no Wolves player able to get a touch.

Segundo Castillo was booked when he clattered into Valencia from behind.

And United soon got an almost inevitable second goal.

They made amends from a Gibson corner shortly afterwards, though, as Vidic powered in to meet the ball with enough force to get it over the line despite Hahnemann attempting to make a goal-line block.

Valencia sent Hill flying with a wayward challenge at the start of the second period that brought McCarthy to the touchline to question why the Ecuador winger had not been booked.

After going down clutching his head and not receiving a free-kick after an aerial duel with Vidic, Maierhofer went looking for the Serbian the next time the ball went into the air.

Bennett decided a joint lecture was in order to diffuse the tension.

As the Wolves supporters launched into a chant of "we want our money back" their team actually created half a chance, which Friend drilled over from an acute angle.

McCarthy replaced Maierhofer with Chris Iwelumo, a wise move given the Austrian's temper was still at boiling point.

After signalling to the bench that he needed to come off, Vidic then raised two hands to indicate he was happy to continue.

He was still taken off though; Darren Fletcher being introduced in his place, Friend replaced at the same time by Matthew Jarvis.

The defensive reshuffle saw Da Laet move alongside Carrick in central defence and Fletcher slot in at right-back, a perfectly adequate formation against Wolves reserves but one that would give cause to worry if it was in use at Fulham on Saturday.

Gibson tested Hahnemann with a fierce low drive that the American claimed at the second attempt.

And finally United got their third.

Antonio Valencia flashed home a clinical volley in a rare moment of brightness in a dim second half.

Premier League Player Ratings: Manchester United 3-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers
Easy win for United against Wolves' reserves

Dec 15, 2009 10:14:42 PM

MANCHESTER UNITED

Tomasz Kuszczak - 6 - Given the evening off by a shot-shy Wolverhampton team.

Ritchie De Laet - 6 - Bombed forward into space, but took too little care with his final delivery. Solid defensively.

Michael Carrick - 7 - Rarely tested in the alien environs of central defence as Wolves failed to threaten. Showed composure when dealing with Iwelumo.

Nemanja Vidic - 8 - Rose like a salmon to head home the all important second goal before half time. Stuck to the task of marking Maierhofer admirably. Made sure he was the first to every ball, then was given a rest, with Fletcher coming on.

Patrice Evra - 7 - Effervescent threat on the front foot and alive to cut out every loose ball.

Antonio Valencia - 7 - Stole the breath of the crowd with an emphatic finish to get on the score sheet.

Paul Scholes - 7 - Enjoyed a leisurely stroll around Old Trafford. Never put under pressure by the demure visitors who seemed enthralled by his effortless ability in possession.

Darron Gibson - 7 - Stuck to the task of providing the perspiration next to Scholes. Didn't waste the ball and looked to widen the pitch. Booked for crunching Castillo.

Gabriel Obertan - 6.5 - Linked well with Evra and was a willing runner. Almost notched his first United goal on the stroke of half-time when he angered Rooney by selfishly taking on a shot. Made way for Welbeck.

Dimitar Berbatov - 7 - Usual array of flicks and tricks was at its most delightful when setting up Valencia for the third goal.

Wayne Rooney - 7.5 - Penalty opener should have crowned a hat-trick after he spurned two sitters previously. Unsettled the second string Wolves defence with his raw pace and tenacity. Visibly disappointed to be taken off for Owen.

Substitutes

Michael Owen - n/a

Danny Welbeck - 6 - Almost celebrated his new contract with a goal when let in by some shaky Wolves defending. Showed some confident touches.

Darren Fletcher - 6 - Filled in at full-back to good effect.

Laga ke-900 Fergie Berakhir Manis
Kris Fathoni W - detiksport

- Gibbo.... calon penerus scholes..... selain tendangan jarak jauh, udah mulai mempelajari tackling gak jelas ala Paul Scholes

The most troubling moment came with the enforced removal of Vidic for Darren Fletcher, although the sight of the Serbian jogging towards the dressing room for treatment quelled most major fears. In yet another reshuffle, the impressive De Laet moved inside to partner Carrick in the centre, with Fletcher occupying the right-back berth.

Wolves fans furious after Mick McCarthy gifts Manchester United victory by fielding a reserve side
-mirrorfootball.co.uk-

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/match-centre/article258311.ece/ALTERNATES/gallery-large/Nemanja+Vidic.jpeg

Mick McCarthy last night handed Manchester United an early Christmas present when he gifted them victory by fielding a reserve side.

The Wolves manager controversially rested ALL 10 of the outfield players who won at Tottenham on Saturday as United won to move level on points with Chelsea at the top of the Premier League.

Goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann was the only survivor as McCarthy opted to keep his first-choice side fresh for Sunday’s home clash with Burnley.

Furious Wolves fans, who had paid top prices for their seats, chanted: "Forty quid to watch the reserves" and "we want our money back".

But McCarthy, whose team play an important home game against Burnley on Sunday, was unrepentant.

He said: "That was my best team available because they were all fresh legs. They were my best 11 players.

"After winning at Spurs on Saturday we got the guys to rate how difficult a game it was and the majority were nine or ten. We can't have that nine and ten on a Saturday and then play again on a Tuesday."

McCarthy added: "I can understand the fans' reaction but this is my first team. I have got 21 players to pick from and they are all first team players.

"I would hope the fans would understand what I have done. At the end of the day my decisions will be judged on whether we stay in the Premier League.

"I made some bad decisions last year but nobody remembers them because we won the Championship.

"If we stay up, everything will suddenly be OK. I knew these questions would be asked but what I didn't want was any more injuries."

Premier League rules state that clubs should only field their strongest team but I understand that there will be no action taken.

League insiders revealed that it is a complex issue and, with it now being a squad game, it is difficult to come down heavy in this kind of situation.

United's title rivals will be unhappy at the Old Trafford team being 'gifted' three points but McCarthy seemed unconcerned.

He said: "I wonder if Man Utd were disappointed when I played 3-5-2 at Chelsea or when we attacked Arsenal at our place.

"We lost those games and when I went into their offices there was no sympathy for me.

"So I will make the decisions which I feel are for the good of our club and our players."

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, whose team are now joint top with Chelsea, said he was not completely surprised by McCarthy's team selection.

Ferguson said: "I wasn't overly-surprised. They put up a good show considering they had their second string out.

"And putting that changed team out wasn't surprising considering they have to play Burnley on Sunday."

More injury woe for United
-manchestereveningnews.co.uk-

http://m.gmgrd.co.uk/res/868.$plit/C_71_article_1186275_image_list_image_list_item_0_ image.jpg?15%2F12%2F2009%2022%3A50%3A48%3A817

UNITED strolled to victory against an understrength Wolves side but the Reds' injury crisis has deepened with Nemanja Vidic and Wes Brown back on the casualty list.

Sir Alex Ferguson's men joined Chelsea at the top of the Premier League with a 3-0 Old Trafford win but their rearguard is likely to be further depleted when they visit Craven Cottage on Saturday to play Fulham.

Brown was ruled out of the win against understrength Wolves with a hamstring injury and will miss the trip to London and probably United’s post-Christmas match at Hull City.

Vidic scored the Reds second against Wolves but then came off after an hour due to a calf strain. The Serbian defender has been suffering with the trouble all campaign.

The Reds already have Rio Ferdinand, John O’Shea, Jonny Evans and Gary Neville on the sidelines and unlikely to be back until after the New Year.

Ferguson said: “It is unbelievable but we just have to get on with it.

“Young Ritchie De Laet is showing some promise. He moved to centre back and did very well and he is a natural centre half. He’ll probably be there on Saturday.”

United were easy winners against a Wolves team that had 10 changes from their side that won 1-0 at Tottenham last Saturday. Wayne Rooney (penalty), and Antonio Valencia were the other scorers.

“Wolves made it difficult for us. They pressed the ball and put in a good team effort,” added Sir Alex.

“It was difficult for us to get continuity. Making so many changes can lead to that. It was comfortable enough in the end.

“Wayne Rooney’s penalty kick was a good break for us. There were one or two nice bits of football and a marvellous third goal. Only a player like Berbatov with the imagination and skill he has got can produce something like that. It was a terrific finish by Valencia.

“I wasn’t over surprised by their side. I thought they would rest a few. They played Tottenham away from home on Saturday and the have to come up to Manchester on a Tuesday and they have a massive match against Burnley at the weekend.

“But the important thing was for us to win.”

Wolves Bukan Sengaja Mengalah dari MU
Kris Fathoni W - detiksport

http://www.detiksport.com/images/content/2009/12/16/72/OwenR.jpg

Arya Perdhana - detiksport

http://www.detiksport.com/images/content/2009/12/16/72/Rooney4-isi.jpg

Di babak 1 Wolves cukup merepotkan United krn man to man marking cukup efektif & mereka main ngotot.

Premier League demand answers from Wolves after Mick McCarthy's reserves are beaten by Manchester United

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Mick McCarthy has been asked to explain his controversial team selection at Manchester United.

McCarthy made 10 changes to the side that defeated Tottenham on Saturday for the Barclays Premier League encounter at Old Trafford and then watched his team lose 3-0.

Wolves fans vented their frustration during the game, although McCarthy defended his stance.

Who's who: The teamsheet for Tuesday night's match at Old Trafford

However, the Premier League have now got involved and want to know McCarthy's version of events.

A statement issued by the Premier League read: 'The Premier League Board have written to Wolverhampton Wanderers to request their observations in relation to the team fielded in their League fixture against Manchester United.

'Once the observations are received the Board will decide whether any further action is warranted.'

Although the Premier League's powers are wide-ranging, and include a points
deduction in the worst-case scenario, it seems unlikely Wolves will receive anything worse than a rap over the knuckles.

While the team was largely a second string, only midfielder George Friend had not made a first-team appearance this season and six of the XI were full internationals also involved.

Questions: Mick McCarthy

The team was arguably not as weak as the one Sir Alex Ferguson selected at Hull on the final day of last season, 10 days before the Champions League final.

The Premier League did not intervene on that occasion and would have looked slightly foolish if they had done so after United won at the KC Stadium.

McCarthy could argue that he was balancing the demands of a congested fixture programme with a number of niggling injuries, which left him to make what he admitted was likely to prove a noteworthy decision.

After the match, the former Republic of Ireland boss said: 'The injuries tipped the balance. I don't have a policy and I am not worried about repercussions from the Premier League.

'I said I would play my best team and that was the fittest, strongest team I could pick.'

Disgruntled Wolves fans chanted 'We want our money back', 'Where is our first team?' and '£42 to watch the reserves' as they expressed their frustration.

'I understand the reaction of the fans and I knew these questions would be asked,' McCarthy added. 'But my decisions will be judged on whether we are still in the Premier League.'

Even if they do not penalise Wolves with a fine, the Premier League will want to be seen to have highlighted the situation in an effort to ensure the integrity of their competition is not brought into question later in the season.

Wolves chief Jez Moxey defends tinkerman Mick McCarthy after Old Trafford controversy

Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey has backed manager Mick McCarthy over his decision to select a weakened side for last night's 3-0 Barclays Premier League defeat at Manchester United.

McCarthy has come in for heavy criticism in some quarters after making 10 changes from the side that had won 1-0 at Tottenham on Saturday.

Goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann was the only player retained from the starting XI at White Hart Lane, as McCarthy sought to give his first-choice players a rest ahead of their home match against Burnley at Molineux this Sunday.

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2009/12/16/article-0-079D412E000005DC-367_468x335.jpg

Three and easy: Antonio Valencia hits Manchester United's third against under strength Wolves

But Moxey feels McCarthy was acting in the club's best interests.

'We have a squad system at the club and Mick picked what he thought was the best side for that match,' he told Sky Sports News.

'In fact if George Friend had taken the chance he had early in the game then maybe we could have held on just like we did at Tottenham.'

Moxey also said the club has no plans to refund the fans who travelled to Old Trafford, despite a chant of 'Forty two quid to watch the reserves' being heard from the away supporters.

Moxey said: 'We have no plans to refund the £42 that they were chanting, about although we do have an empathy with them.

'We are very disappointed that we lost the game, but we have a squad system.'

'I don't think we are going to get any complaints from other teams.

'We have also had a large amount of injuries recently, Michael Kightly is out and we have lost Andy Keogh.

'It's an old saying but the season is a marathon not a sprint and Mick's job is to keep us in the Premier League.'

Tinker: Mick McCarthy made 10 changes to the side that beat Wolves on Saturday

Moxey also refused to rule out the possibility that McCarthy would make wholesale changes to his side at other points later during the current campaign.

'He might do, he said.

'He has already done it once.'

Turunkan Tim 'Lemah', Wolves Dimintai Keterangan
Narayana Mahendra Prastya - detiksport

http://www.detiksport.com/images/content/2009/12/16/72/wolves-AFP.jpg

Alhasil, Wolves pun keok 0-3.

Wenger Cerca Wolverhampton

Burnley - Keputusan manajer Wolverhampton Wanderers, Mick McCarthy, menurunkan pemain cadangan saat bertemu Manchester United dicerca Arsene Wenger. McCarthy dianggap merusakn kredibilitas Premiership.

Kemenangan 'mudah' MU atas Wolves membuat Wenger berang.
