6. WES BROWN
Birthdate: 13 Oct 1979
Birthplace: Manchester
Position: Defender
Appearances: 317
Goals: 4
Joined United: 08 Jul 1996
United Debut: 04 May 1998 v Leeds United (H)
International England
Tough-tackling, strong in the air and fast on the deck, Wes Brown is one of England's finest defenders.
He's not the most fortunate though. Surely his club and country appearance totals, while impressive, would be far higher had it not been for his awful luck with injuries.
Wes enjoyed arguably his best season in 2007/08 as a key member of Sir Alex's miserly back four. Replacing the long-term injured Gary Neville at right-back, he played in more matches than any other player on the road to winning the Barclays Premier League and Champions League. Wes also enjoyed the personal fillip of a new
four-year contract in April 2008, signed almost ten years after his debut.
That debut was the culmination of a meteoric rise through the ranks at Old Trafford - signing as a trainee in July 1996, he put pen to paper on professional forms four months later. In this first full season, 1996/97, he picked up the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award. Towards the end of his second campaign, he made his senior bow as a sub against Leeds United on 4 May 1998, and a first start against Barnsley a week later.
Brown's performances in 1998/99 caught the eye, but knee-ligament injuries ahead of the 1999/00 season and at the end of the 2002/03 campaign were bookends to a broken ankle in August 2002. Many players might have been demoralised by such wretched luck, but Brown’s grit saw him return in September 2003 and complete the rest of the 2003/04 season.
In 2005/06 he became a linchpin in the centre of defence; his no-nonsense style perfectly complimented Rio Ferdinand’s more languid approach. Opportunities were somewhat limited during 2006/07, as Nemanja Vidic forged an almost telepathic relationship with Rio in central defence. Still, Wes took his chances when they arose and passed the 250-appearance mark while earning his fourth league winners' medal.
A fifth such medal and a second in the European Cup followed in the afore-mentioned 2007/08 campaign. However Brown's bad luck came back to bite him in the subsequent season. After rotating the right-back berth with Rafael and Gary Neville in August and September 2008, he dropped out of the running on 25 October when he damaged his ankle at Everton. Absent for three months, Wes then returned as a sub at West Brom at the end of January 2009, only to soon suffer an injury again and consequently miss out on a place in the Carling Cup final squad.

Manchester United must improve for crucial Chelsea game, says Wes Brown
• Brown calls for tighter defence after conceding three to CSKA
• United face Drogba and co at Stamford Bridge on Sunday

Wes Brown has conceded Manchester United will have to defend far better at Stamford Bridge on Sunday if they are to get anything out of their crucial Premier League match against Chelsea.
Both sides will go into the game with their Champions League knock-out place secure following draws last night. But while Carlo Ancelotti's men were pleased with their efforts against Atlético Madrid, United looked far less secure.
It took another injury-time strike, this time a deflected Antonio Valencia effort, to earn a 3-3 draw against a spirited CSKA Moscow side.
The ease with which the Russians scored their three goals provides huge cause for concern, especially as Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed Rio Ferdinand is highly unlikely to return as he struggles to recover from a calf injury.
It means either Brown or Jonny Evans will continue in central defence alongside Nemanja Vidic, who should be fit. Brown knows that against the likes of Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka, such defensive weakness will be punished.
"We cannot concede like that when we go to Stamford Bridge," he said. "We have to be tighter at the back and give the strikers the chance to do a bit of damage at the other end.
"It will be our toughest game of the season. They have been doing very well. They are a well-organised team and they will be very strong. They are scoring goals at the moment and we will have to be really on top form to think of getting any points."
Meanwhile, Darren Fletcher has spoken of his disbelief at the booking he collected for diving during last night's encounter.
When the Scot went down under Vasili Berezutsky's ill-timed tackle, it appeared a certain spot-kick. TV replays backed up that view but the Portuguese referee Olegário Benquerença showed Fletcher a yellow card for simulation.
Sir Alex Ferguson has already called on Uefa to amend their rules to allow appeals in such situations, mindful of the fact Fletcher missed last season's final against Barcelona through suspension. The Scotland midfielder admitted he was completely stunned by the decision.
"It was a penalty," he said. "I have turned and the lad has just swept me off my feet. I've not tried to fall or stay on my feet or anything. When the referee blew his whistle I just thought 'great, it is a penalty and we are back in the game'. When I saw he was walking towards me with the yellow card I could not believe it.
"I am not having much luck with these cards. Hopefully it will change in the later stages."

Brown bread if we play like that
-The Sun-
http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00921/wes_280x390_921804a.jpg
WES BROWN warned his United team-mates they cannot affors to Russian roulette at the back against Chelsea.
The champions travel to London on the back of the 3-3 home draw to CSKA Moscow, where their defending and goalkeeping were roundly criticised.
Brown, who is expected to play on Sunday in the continued absence of crocked Rio Ferdinand, admitted: "We cannot concede like that when we go to Stamford Bridge.
"We have to be tighter at the back and give the strikers the chance to do a bit of damage at the other end."
It is another key game, coming just a fortnight after the 2-0 defeat at Liverpool which cast fresh doubt over United's ability to sustain a title challenge this term.
Brown added: "It will be our toughest game of the season. They have been doing very well.
"They are a well organised team and they will be very strong.
"They are scoring goals at the moment and we will have to be really on top form to think of getting any points."

Brown happy at United
England star to stay put
http://img.skysports.com/09/11/218x298/Wes-Brown_2388769.jpg
Wes Brown insists he is not looking to leave Manchester United, despite again struggling to force his way into the first team.
Recent years have seen Brown emerge as a first-team regular at Old Trafford, as he put a niggling run of injuries behind him.
But again his bad luck with injuries returned this term, and despite being fully fit - he is yet to force his way back into the side on a regular basis.
"I have been injured on so many occasions, I am used to coming back and trying to getting back into the team," he said.
"That has happened again this season. The injuries have been frustrating but this is the only place I have ever wanted to be and Manchester United is the only club I have ever wanted to play for.
"I am still happy to do that."
Brown admits he is happy to pass on his experiences over his injuries to young players.
"A lot of the younger players come to me for advice," he said.
"I just tell them to listen to the physios because whatever injury I have suffered, their advice always meant that I was able to come back. I have great trust in them.
"Injured players just have to believe in themselves, work hard, and you will get back really fit."

Wes only thinking of United
WES Brown won't allow his thoughts to drift to the World Cup despite becoming a Fabio Capello regular squad member when fit.
Experience has taught the 30-year-old United defender not to consider the finals during winter.
In 2001, he was hit with a knee injury from December to mid-April yet the then England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson still took him to Seoul and Korea for the 2002 finals.
However, Brown was virtually a United fixture during the same period in the 2005-06 campaign but the Swede overlooked him for the 2006 Germany showpiece.
"I was in the World Cup squad in Japan and that was great and it is great we are there now, but it is a long time between now and then," said the defender.
"People have still got to play for their clubs and play well. Hopefully, when it gets closer we will be thinking about it a lot more but at the moment it is definitely all about the club."
Brown had his best-ever season for United in the 2007-08 campaign. He played more games than anyone else and topped the season off by appearing in the Champions League final in Moscow.
Last year, however, the jinxed Mancunian was struck down by injury and an ankle problem robbed him of all but three appearances from October to May.
But the Longsight-born defender has been back in United's rearguard for the last five matches as Sir Alex Ferguson wrestles with a defensive injury plague that sees Rio Ferdinand, John O'Shea and Jonny Evans all absent against Besiktas tonight, and struggling for Saturday's trip to Portsmouth.
But the Brown bonus has cheered Fergie up.
"We are delighted he is back and I don't have the concerns that you would associate with someone who has four defenders missing. With Wes and Vida as my centre-backs you can feel quite comfortable about it," said the Reds' boss.
Brown will play his 60th Champions League match tonight against the Turks and is settling back into the Reds side.
"The more games you play, the better you feel," he said.
"The first couple of games, a lot of it is adrenalin. Then you have to keep your fitness up and keep working hard.
"Hopefully that is happening with me at the moment. I have been injured on so many occasions I am used to coming back and getting back into the team and trying to do my best.
"That has happened again this season. I am happy with that. This is the only place I have ever wanted to be. It is the only club I have ever wanted to play for.
"The injuries I have had in the past (two major cruciate knee ligament problems and an ankle injury) don't bother me.
"It has happened so often that I am used to it. I just get on with it.
"It doesn't become any harder to get over it. You get used to things. It doesn't make it more difficult coming back. It just makes you want to get back even quicker.
"I have been able to pass on advice after going through so many injuries. A lot of the younger players come to me for advice.
"I tell them to listen to the physios. Whatever the physios have told me has been right. I have always come back. I have great trust in them.
"I just tell them to believe in yourself, work hard, and you will get back really fit."

Sir Alex Ferguson hails Manchester United's Wes Brown as the country's best defender
Sir Alex Ferguson has sensationally claimed Manchester United player Wes Brown is the best natural defender in England.
Brown has endured catalogue of injuries during his career, including cruciate operations on both knees, a broken ankle and a succession of muscular problems, the latest of which effectively ruled him out of the whole of last season.
However, with Rio Ferdinand missing due to a long-standing back complaint and both John O'Shea and Jonny Evans sidelined after picking up injuries on international duty earlier this month, Brown has strung together a series of solid performances for club and country, leading to praise from his manager.

Natural: Brown (right), with Besiktas' Deivson Bobo, has impressed for club and country this month
'When Wes Brown is fit, he is the best natural defender in the country,' said Ferguson. 'He has done well to deal with all the things he has had to deal with and still come out fighting.
'I keep thinking he is only 22 or 23 but we were doing a summary of our players' ages and contracts the other day and I saw Wes is 30.
'But he has such a young approach to life which you have to pay tribute to the lad for.

Praise: Ferguson (left) claims Brown is England's most natural defender
'Players need a run of games to achieve consistency and get the timing and tempo of their game correct.
'We are seeing that at the moment. Now he is fit again and looking fantastic, he gets better all the time. Long may it continue.'
Meanwhile, Ferguson confirmed within his assessment of individual player contracts, it had been established Vidic's does not run out until 2012.
However, given the Serbian's stated desire to remain at Old Trafford despite constant speculation about his future, it is a situation that will be looked at.
'Nemanja's contract runs until 2012, which is a good bit away but the time will always come when good players' contracts come under review,' added Ferguson

Q&A: Wes Brown
http://picsrv.manutd.com/?fif=/manu/img_10_32000_1001.jpg&obj=iip,1.0&wid=480&hei=179&rgn=0,0.019021739130434784,0.9375,0.24320652173913 043&cvt=jpeg
Wes Brown has re-emerged as a key figure in United's defence in recent weeks, and he admits he's thoroughly enjoying being a United regular once again...
On a personal level, how pleased are you to be back fit and playing?
I’m really enjoying it at the moment – I’m training well and when I’ve played I’ve felt 100 per cent fit. If you’re not 100 per cent you get found out which doesn’t help the team. It took time to get back to that point after a very frustrating season last year. I’ve had a few like that, but I always try my best to come back strongly and, touch wood, up to now I’ve been fine.
Your games so far this season have been largely at centre-half, is that your favoured position?
I’ll play wherever the gaffer throws me in! Obviously Rio and Vida have missed a few games which has given me and Jonny Evans a chance and it’s been nice to be back in the centre. Throughout my career that’s always where I’ve said I want to play, but it really doesn’t bother me either way. I’m probably more of a right-back for England and I enjoy playing there for United as well. I’m just happy to play wherever.
You've played alongside Jonny Evans a few times this season. What have you made to his performances?
Jonny’s a fantastic player; very strong, good in the air and comfortable on the ball and he’s done brilliantly whenever he’s played. It’s good that when Rio and Vida are out the likes of Jonny and myself can come in and not a lot changes. I think we’ve got that kind of cover all over the pitch and it’s good to know we can still win games when some of our big names are out.
Why do you think the defence has struggled to keep clean sheets this season?
As a defender you don’t like letting goals in – even if you win a game, if you’ve not kept a clean sheet it’s a bad day. That might sound daft, but it’s something that stays on your mind after a game; every defender would probably tell you the same. I’m not sure why we’ve not kept as many clean sheets as in recent seasons, but we’ve just got to keep working hard on things and hopefully the clean sheets will follow.
What are your hopes for the rest of the season?
I just want to stay fit, play well and help the team achieve more success. When you’ve been out injured for a while you just relish every minute of playing and I know that when I get my chance I’ve got to play well. Hopefully I can do that.
The other question... Your brother Reece is part of United’s Under-18s and Reserves. Do you get much chance to watch him play?
I try to watch him as much as I can. He’s played for the Reserves a few times and if I’m not able to get to the game I always try to watch it with my mum on MUTV. We’re quite similar in the way we play, but he’s a lot taller than me and is very a powerful defender. He’s been doing really well and he scored on his debut for England’s U19s earlier in the season. We talk a lot about football and hopefully we’ll get the chance to play together one day.

Wes Brown injury unlikely to keep him out of World Cup
• Defender suffered suspected metatarsal fracture at Wolves
• Injury adds to Sir Alex Ferguson's selection problems

Wes Brown is likely to be out of action for Manchester United for six weeks. Photograph: Mike Egerton/Empics Sport
Wes Brown is expected to be available for England's World Cup campaign this summer despite increasing Fabio Capello's defensive problems with a suspected metatarsal fracture sustained against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Manchester United are due to confirm the scan results on Brown's injury today, although it is believed the 30-year-old, who left Molineux wearing a protective boot on his foot following a challenge with Matt Jarvis on Saturday, will be sidelined for six weeks with the problem. Brown's absence is another setback for Sir Alex Ferguson, who has lost Michael Owen, Anderson, Ryan Giggs and John O'Shea to long-term injuries in recent weeks, but the timeframe would at least allow the defender to return to action before Capello finalises his World Cup squad.
Brown started at right-back for England against Egypt last week in the absence of Liverpool's Glen Johnson, who has only just recovered from the knee ligament injury he suffered at Aston Villa on 29 December. With his left-back options thrown into turmoil by Ashley Cole's broken ankle plus Wayne Bridge's retirement from international football, and Rio Ferdinand restricted by injury this term, Capello can ill-afford further disruption to England's defence before South Africa. Should Brown recover in six weeks, for the Manchester derby at Eastlands on 17 April, he would have just four league games to prove his fitness before the World Cup.
United's selection problems for the Champions League return with Milan tomorrow also include Wayne Rooney, who missed the 1-0 win at Wolves with a knee problem aggravated against Egypt at Wembley. The leading scorer is still rated as doubtful for the Italians' visit to Old Trafford.
The Football Association chairman, Lord Triesman, meanwhile, believes the Red Knights' proposed takeover of United reflects a growing concern among supporters at how their clubs are run and believes a fan-run body could succeed in England. "There are some good fan-run clubs and there have been in England, too – there have been some clubs in difficulties where the fans have been the decisive factor such as York City and Bournemouth," said Triesman.
The FA chairman refused to condemn the Glazers' controversial ownership of United but admits supporters are right to respond to concerns over mounting debt. "Being a fan is a mixture of all sorts of things. It's not a customer going into a shop. You want success on the pitch, there are deep cultural things involved, and most of the time you support the club your dad supported," said Triesman. "There's inevitably a sense of community, even if a club is a great international brand as well. It's a huge mixture of things that fuel the emotion of football. My expectation always is that fans will be interested in the lot."
He added: "I am really not saying Manchester United cannot deal with its overall financial arrangements but of course fans do take a view about whether their club is all right. If they have been very successful they want them to continue to be very successful so they are interested in where the funds are. As it happens I think United are a huge business capable of generating very, very big resources. It would be disappointing in any club if fans were not interested in the whole thing."

Brown Janji Kebangkitan United
http://i.okezone.com/content/2010/07/11/45/351646/BVakUO6MUS.jpg
MANCHESTER – Manchester United terpuruk musim lalu. Namun, Wes Brown optimis skuad Setan Merah bakal makin kuat menghadapi kompetisi musim depan.

Wes Brown demands Manchester United make flying start to Premier League campaign
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/07/12/article-1294060-0A6A5C48000005DC-163_468x365.jpg
Wes Brown believes Manchester United must hit the ground running at the start of the new season if they are to to have success at home and abroad.
The experienced defender is disappointed at the way the last campaign panned out.
United lost their Barclays Premier League crown to Chelsea and went out of the Champions League at the quarter-final stage to Bayern Munich.
The Carling Cup was little consolation and Brown said: 'We were close last season but it was never really in our hands. We've got to make sure it is this season.
'Like we say every year, the Premier League and the Champions League are the ones we really want to win, so we've got to come back better and stronger this season.'
Manager Sir Alex Ferguson has drafted in talented youngsters Chris Smalling from Fulham and Javier Hernandez from Chivas de Guadalajara during the summer.
Smalling is setting off with the squad to their training camp in Chicago - they face Celtic on Friday in Toronto.
Hernandez will join the players later in the tour in Houston after representing Mexico in the World Cup.
Brown is looking forward to seeing the new recruits in action and putting last season to rest.
He said: 'You do think about your disappointments, especially when the season's finished.
'But now it's completely new and we've got to put that behind us. We've got some new players and we can start again.'
Ferguson will be without a number of key players on the tour with the likes of Wayne Rooney, Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra all on holiday after the World Cup.
In addition injuries have further depleted the squad with Gary Neville, Rio Ferdinand, Michael Owen, Owen Hargreaves, Antonio Valencia and Anderson all absent.
However, Nani has made a quick recovery from a broken collarbone and is joining the group.
Following the match in Toronto, United will meet Philadelphia Union at Lincoln Financial Field on July 21.
That is followed by a match against the Kansas City Wizards at Arrowhead Stadium on July 25.
They then finish the tour against the MLS All-Stars in Houston on July 28.

Brown ....... with his Orange hair ....B-)
Kalau saja pelatih United bukan Fergie, Brown sudah didepak jauh2 hari ...
Jadi Bek Tengah, gak punya speed , heading + marking biasa2 aja , passing dan shooting .... duh jangan tanya :nohope:
Jadi Bek Kanan , Crossing sering ngawur , driblling biasa ..... (:|
yg gw bold ...
rasanya kok sama yaa hehehe ...
emang sih beberapa kali doi sempet maen dengan performa ciamik ..., but almost semenjana semata ..., hikss :(
herannya Opa Alex sering muji WB as good full back .., bahkan beberapa kali doi ikut dipanggil bersama timnas Inggris ...
tapi yaa gitu deh ..., sering kali penampilannya mengecewakan United fans ... :hammer::hammer:

Brown would love to play with brother Reece at Man Utd
19.07.10 | tribalfootball.com
Manchester United defender Wes Brown admits he'd love the chance to play in the same team as kid brother Reece.
Reece Brown is currently in France with the U19 England team.
Brown told manutd.com: "That would be absolutely brilliant. Even though there’s 12 years between us I really hope we can do it because it would be a great thing for our family.
"Even playing together in a Reserves match would be fantastic. I watch as many of his games as I can – he’s still learning, but hopefully he can keep doing well."

Wes grilled by website readers
Wes Brown took time out from his pre-season work during the North America tour to answer questions from ManUtd.com readers...
How did you spend your summer break? - Richie Kelly
I had about seven weeks off and had a good rest. I visited a few different countries – Morocco, Spain and Tenerife and I also went to Sheasy’s wedding in Dublin which was great. It’s the most time I’ve ever had off but during the last week I was just desperate to get back to Carrington and get going again.
Having not featured for England at the World Cup, do you look back on your exclusion with regret or relief given England’s disappointing performance? - Christopher Wright
Even if I’d have got picked I don’t think I would have played. We’ve got the players to do well, but we just didn’t get going and it was a very disappointing tournament for us. We played well in the qualifiers, but it didn’t happen in South Africa. We’ve just got to try and get going again when we next meet up.
What are your views on video technology (i.e. goal-line technology) in football? Do most players think it should be introduced? - Nick Kelly
I think it’s got to be brought in for the goal line. I was as disappointed as everyone else when I saw Frank’s [Lampard] effort disallowed against Germany. The ball was so far over it was incredible. It would only take a few seconds to check whether the ball had gone over. It works well in tennis and I think it would be a great addition to our game.
How important is the pre-season tour when it comes to shaping things for the season that ahead? - Oliver Edwards
It’s very important because it sets us up for the start of the campaign. It’s hard work, but coming to America is brilliant. The weather is good and we’re visiting some great cities. It’s not as hectic as some places we travel to and things are a little but more relaxed because not a lot of people recognise us out here so we’re able to go for a wander and do a bit of shopping!
Could America become a force to be reckoned with in world football? - Richard Sumner
I’ve been very impressed by them and they look like they’re getting stronger and stronger. Soccer is getting bigger all the time in the States and so many kids are playing the game now that it can only continue to become more popular.
What have you made of new signing Chris Smalling so far? What sort of a defender is he? - George Wadsley
Chris is a great lad and he’s fitted in brilliantly. He’s been training really well – he looks very fit and sharp and I’m sure he’ll be ready and raring to go for the start of the season.
When the fixtures are announced, what’s the first game you look for? - Juan Treminio
There are a few – City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal, but for me City is the big one, then I’d say Liverpool then Chelsea. This year I was looking out for the games against Blackpool as well – they should be great to play in.
Last season the top terrace tune was all about Wes Brown being the hardest man in all the town. What did you make of the song? And how did Nemanja feel about you taking the hard-man tag? - Andrew Kilduff
[Laughs] The funny thing was the fans first started singing it when I wasn’t playing! It’s a great song and it’s always nice when the supporters sing your name. Vida’s got no problems with it – he knows I’m a local lad, but I don’t know about me being the hardest man in town!
When are you going to bring back your Afro? What can we expect, hair-wise, from you this season? - Claire Heffer
I’m going for the skinhead look this season – a No.1 all over! I’m not doing anything else with it so the Afro won’t be coming back am afraid.
Who are the best players you’ve played with, and the toughest opponent you’ve faced? - Jamie Ward
The best players I’ve played with would have to be Giggsy, Scholesy, Ronaldo, Wayne, Yorke and Coley – the list goes on. Toughest opponent has to be Zidane. I remember marking him when he was at Real Madrid and I honestly don’t think I touched the ball! He was an incredible player. Messi is another. I’ll always remember playing against him in the Champions League semi-final [in 2008]. There was so much riding on both games, particularly the one at Old Trafford. It was a tough night and we really had to defend well, but it was also a pleasure to play against a player like him.

How do you manage to stay so calm during the games? You never complain to the referees, you never get into fights with other players... I admire it, but I can’t understand it! - Simon Soltan-Zadeh
That’s just how I am and the way I’ve always played. It doesn’t mean I’m not getting fired up inside and if the ball is there to be won I’ll put everything into the tackle. Otherwise though I’m just happy to get on with things and do my best for the team.
What advice would you give to young footballers who suffer long-term injuries? How do you keep mustering the mental strength to come back? - Craig Attwood
You’ve got to keep you head up and stay positive and it’s very important to listen to what the medical team tell you. I’ve always tried to keep positive whenever I’ve been injured and never contemplated not coming back. You’ve just got to follow the advice of the physios, work hard and do your best to get yourself fit again.
Do you think you’ll ever get the chance to play for United alongside your brother, Reece? What would that mean to you? - Michael John Allen
That would be absolutely brilliant. Even though there’s 12 years between us I really hope we can do it because it would be a great thing for our family. Even playing together in a Reserves match would be fantastic. I watch as many of his games as I can – he’s still learning, but hopefully he can keep doing well.
What is the fondest memory of your football career? - Andrew Hanssen
My debut [against Leeds in May 1999] and the 1999 and 2008 Champions League finals. The first final was unbelievable in terms of how we won it and winning the Treble, but to actually play in the final in 2008 and win it was fantastic.
What do you remember about your first football boots? - Hardik Jaisingh
[Pauses] I played football from a really young age, but I didn’t actually get my first pair of proper boots until I was about nine when I started playing Sunday League football. I think they were a pair of Dunlops!
Who’s the worst dressed member of the team? - Adan Mezzino
That’s an easy one – Tomasz Kuszczak by a mile! A lot of his clothes have been hung up in the dressing rooms on many occasions.
Who, besides Sir Alex, has offered the best guidance to you throughout your career at United? - Abdullah Adam
There have been quite a few people, but one that sticks out is Laurent Blanc. He gave me lots of advice when he was at the club, just little things here and there. He always talked about the different aspects of defending and really helped me with my game.
A few of the lads are doing their coaching badges. Are you one of them? Do you have any desire to go into coaching when you retire? - Mark Heaton
No, I’m not doing them. I thought about it but I’m happy to concentrate on playing at the moment. I haven’t thought about what I’ll do after I finish playing and at the moment coaching isn’t something I think I’ll go into. But you never know.
Players often swap shirts at the final whistle. Do you keep the shirts and which ones do you treasure most? - Darren Johnson
I never really end up swapping shirts, but I have managed to pick up a few over the years. My favourite is probably the one I got from Zidane. As I said before he was an unbelievable player.
Who’s your favourite footballer of all time? - Lisa Thomas
It’s going to sound daft this but I’d have to say Giggsy. Of course, you’ve got the likes of Maradona and Pele who were world-class players, but for me it’s Giggsy. His overall game and his achievements are just incredible. You get one-offs every now and again and he’s certainly one of them. To have performed consistently well at the top level for such a long time and stayed with one team is amazing. It’s difficult to think of anyone else like Ryan; Sir Bobby [Charlton] is probably the only other player to compare with Giggsy.

Brown Pensiun dari "Tiga Singa"
http://www.kompas.com/data/photo/2008/10/12/011027p.jpg

Now the Football Association has confirmed that Brown visited England's team hotel in Watford on Sunday to inform Capello he no longer wished to be considered.
"Wes Brown has this evening announced his retirement from international football,'' read a statement from the FA on Sunday night. "He came to the England team hotel this evening to meet with and tell Fabio Capello in person.''
The Manchester United defender won 22 caps for England, the last of which came against Egypt at Wembley in March 2010.
But Brown, 30, was overlooked for the World Cup finals in South Africa and has now indicated he has no desire to continue his international career.
"After a lot of thought and with a very heavy heart, I have decided the time is right for me to retire from international football," Brown said.
"At the age of 30 I feel it is right for me to stand aside and let younger players come through, which allows me to concentrate on my club career.
"I regard it as an honour and a privilege to have represented my country at every level from Under-15s upwards. I have always been very proud to play for England and wish them well in future tournaments.''
