Manchester City vs Manchester United

FERGUSON CHANGES PLAN AFTER FA CUP EXIT

AS SIR Alex Ferguson *sharpened the axe, the men in suits were counting the lost millions as the dust began to settle on Manchester United’s *calamitous FA Cup exit.

The defeat by a Leeds side 42 places below them in the league ladder has prompted Ferguson to scrap his plan to play youngsters and fringe men in the Carling Cup semi-final first leg against Manchester City tomorrow.

Sunday’s first exit at the third-round stage for 26 years and Ferguson’s first to a lower division team has seen to that – just as it has blown the potential for a club with spiralling debts to earn about £10million from a good cup run.

Instead, Ferguson will play as near to a full-strength team as he can, injuries permitting, in a bid to flush Sunday’s result out of the system as quickly as possible.

A defeat by neighbours City on top of setbacks to rivals Liverpool at the end of October, title rivals Chelsea in November and now old foes Leeds, would be too much for the United faithful to bear and Ferguson is painfully aware this is no time to gamble.

Normally, United team changes are no big deal, given that Ferguson has become the ultimate squad rotator, with Sunday being the 100th consecutive game he has changed his team. But this time he is angry. Players are not being rested or rotated, they are being dropped because Sunday’s performance was not good enough and let down not only Ferguson, who has placed such faith in some of the younger players, but the fans and the club .

At least six players are certain to be dropped for the short trip to the City of Manchester Stadium – veteran Gary Neville, Fabio Da Silva and Sunday’s midfield quartet of Gabriel Obertan, Darron Gibson, Anderson and Danny Welbeck.

In will come Rafael Da Silva, Patrice Evra, Anton io Valencia, Darren Fletcher, Michael Carrick and Ryan Giggs. There could be a seventh change if Nemanja Vidic recovers from the muscle twinge that forced him out of Sunday’s game – and irritated Ferguson – to take the place of either Wes Brown, who was at fault for Jermaine Beckford’s winner , or Jonny Evans, who looked ring rusty after two months out with injury.

And it could even be eight changes if Ferguson decides to leave out Dimitar Berbatov in favour of playing Wayne Rooney on his own up front, with Valencia and Giggs behind him and Paul Scholes recalled as an extra midfielder.

United assistant boss Mike Phelan made it clear heads will roll in a withering assessment of Sunday’s display that reflected Ferguson’s thoughts.

“We will start to think a little bit differently with our selection,” said Phelan. “It’s an important game, it’s a big game and I don’t think we did ourselves justice against Leeds in certain departments of the field and we need to reflect on that .

“We had players out there who play for Manchester United and they did not perform as expected .

“We fielded a team against Leeds with a bit of balance to it. We either go for experience or youth. This time we picked a bit of a mixture and it didn’t work for us. We got found out a little bit and didn’t get the result we wanted.

“It’s a major blow. We need to progress in this cup. We need to be in finals of cup competitions like this. To go out of the stage we have is unacceptable . Leeds went about their business very, very effectively, got the early goal which spurred them on and deserved victory.

“At the level we are at, we should not be giving a goal away as easy and as simple as we did. From that moment on there was a belief there for Leeds – we gave belief to their supporters and that is what carried them through.”

The shock defeat also bruised United financially, on the day news leaked out of the Glazer family’s latest attempt to reduce the club’s spiralling debt.

The FA Cup can bring in a tidy sum if a club reaches the semi-finals, final or lifts the trophy.

The winners pick up £3.4m in prize money while TV fees plus crowd receipts and bonuses from sponsors could have taken the earnings to more than £10m.

With £69m of United’s £72m operating profit in 2008 used to service the interest charges on the loans borrowed by the Glazers to buy the club, it is easy to see why every penny counts at Old Trafford these days.

Man City v Man Utd

TEAM NEWS

Manchester City are hoping Robinho and Micah Richards will be available, but Shaun Wright-Phillips is still struggling with an ankle injury.

Roque Santa Cruz (knee) and Nedum Onuoha (calf) are also major doubts.

Man Utd boss Sir Alex Ferguson has promised to ring the changes following Sunday's humiliating defeat to Leeds.

Nemanja Vidic is United's biggest injury concern, with the centre-back missing Sunday's game after injuring himself in the warm-up.

Manchester City

Suspended: None Doubtful: Ireland (hamstring), Onuoha & Santa Cruz (calf), Richards (groin), Wright-Phillips (ankle)

Injured/unavailable: Adebayor & Toure (both international duty), Bridge, Johnson & Lescott (all knee)

Manchester United

Suspended: None Doubtful: Macheda (hamstring), Nani (foot), Vidic (unspecified)

Injured/unavailable: Ferdinand (back), Hargreaves (knee), O'Shea (thigh), Van der Sar (knee)

MATCH PREVIEW

It is 34 years since Manchester City last won a major trophy. Since winning the 1976 League Cup final, City fans have had to stand by helplessly and watch as their biggest rivals have won every piece of silverware going, collecting an astonishing 25 major honours (11 Premier League titles, 8 FA Cups, 2 European Cups, 1 Cup Winners' Cup, 3 League Cups).

Thirteen City managers have tried and failed to match the exploits of Sir Alex Ferguson since the Scot arrived at Old Trafford in 1986. Now it is the turn of Roberto Mancini. The former Inter Milan manager certainly has the pedigree - in a seven-year spell managing in Serie A he won three league titles and four Coppa Italias to add to the two Serie A titles and 6 Italian Cups he won as a player.

The Italian's impact at Eastlands has been immediate. Three games, three wins and not a goal conceded.

Manchester United head into the game desperate to bounce back from Sunday's 1-0 defeat to League One side Leeds. A furious Ferguson was "shocked" by the performance and has promised sweeping changes for Wednesday's trip to Eastlands. If Ferguson wields the axe it will be the 100th consecutive game he has tinkered with his starting XI.

Jelang Piala Carling
'Setan Merah' Pilih Hati-hati
Rossi Finza Noor - detiksport

http://www.detiksport.com/images/content/2010/01/05/72/MUReuters-isi.jpg

The Citizens tentu tak mau begitu saja melewatkan kesempatan menundukkan sang rival di hadapan suporter sendiri.

Wajar apabila Sir Alex Ferguson pun pasang sikap waspada.

Ferguson fury as rethink is made on Carling Cup selection

posted on 04/01/10

Sir Alex Ferguson was understandably maddened by the result at Old Trafford yesterday to close rivals, Leeds United in the FA Cup. Jermaine Beckford’s goal, his fifth in his last three games, consigned Manchester United to a shock FA Cup exit at the third round. The first third round clash Ferguson has ever lost during his time at United. The performance however hardly merited a win, and truth be told, if Leeds had that little bit of luck, they could have won by more, as the saw two fantastic chances late on whizz by them. After the game, the boss would only speak to the clubs official TV station, MUTV and in his interview admitted he was both shocked and annoyed with the performances of some of his players.

This has all caused Ferguson to make a u-turn in his team selection for Wednesday nights Carling Cup semi-final first leg against rivals Manchester City. Earlier in the week, Sir Alex explained that he would field the youngsters who helped get the team as far as they are, but that now seems to be off the cards as a furious Ferguson delivered the news.

“We have a semi-final on Wednesday night and a lot of these players today won’t be playing. You have to view that performance in its right light,” said Sir Alex

“I am shocked by the performance because our preparation for the game was very good. But we never got going. The quality of the passing and whole performance was bad.”

“Leeds had far bigger appetite than us,” explained Ferguson. “Human beings can always surprise you, but we didn’t expect that today.

“We didn’t start right, Leeds got their goal and it was something to hold onto. We spoke about Beckford’s pace up front and we were caught napping,” he added.

Only one name was excused from the Ferguson wrath, and it was substitute Antonio Valencia who wasn’t even meant to be on the team sheet as Nemanja Vidic pulled out in the warm up, and Ferguson managed to “find” Valencia before the game.

“I don’t think any of them can say they had a good day. It took us 10 minutes to find him, but only Valencia can say he had a good performance.”

“You have to get over these kind of results quickly. We have to make sure we are ready for Wednesday.”

The last line of his interview sums everything up for me. Terrible, shocking result but we have to move on and prepare for the next task at hand, because two defeats to bitter rivals within four days is not something United fans could imagine I don’t think.

Foster hopes for City chance

Ben Foster was laid low with flu over Christmas, but the Reds goalkeeper would love to provide a helping hand as United attempt to reach Wembley in the forthcoming Carling Cup semi-final ties with Manchester City.

The Reds travel to the City of Manchester Stadium on Wednesday for the first leg, before our city neighbours visit Old Trafford on 19 January.

“As well some important league games, we’ve got big cup matches coming up against City in the Carling Cup,” says Ben. “Like the fans, the lads are really looking forward to it.”

Foster played in the dramatic 4-3 derby win in September, the recollection of which has whetted the appetite for these midweek cup ties. However, the England stopper remains unsure how much of an impact that result will have, particularly with new City boss Roberto Mancini providing a fresh start after Mark Hughes' reign.

“People will talk about that game in the build-up, but I’m not sure how much bearing it’ll have on the tie. That result will have hurt City and they'll want revenge, but the bottom line is City always want to beat us, and we want to beat them! Hopefully we produce a good performance – we’d love to go to a final again because we want to defend the trophy, and getting to Wembley gives everyone a boost.”

Foster tasted success last term in this competition and he’s keen to experience it again, even if Tomasz Kuszczak has edged in front in the current pecking order. “I’d like to play a part in [getting to a final again],” he said. “I was lucky enough to play at Wembley last season and I’d love to do it again. Tomasz has come in and done really well, but hopefully I’ll get a few games soon.”

Shay wants revenge for derby defeat
-teamtalk.com-

http://images.teamtalk.com/09/11/330/Shay-Given_2379655.jpg

Shay Given admits Manchester City want revenge in the Carling Cup semi-final for their injury-time defeat at Manchester United in September.

The two derby rivals face each other in the first leg of their hotly-anticipated last-four clash at Eastlands on Wednesday night, with City stopper Given keen to avenge their heart-breaking 4-3 defeat at Old Trafford in the Premier League, when Michael Owen poked home a 96th-minute winner in a 4-3 win for the champions.

The Irish keeper said: "I have to admit it took me a long while to get over it. A lot has happened since and it's gone now but it took me a good few weeks, even a couple of months, to get it out of my system," he continued.

"We played so well that day and for them to get such a late, late goal was very difficult for everyone to swallow.

"So we'd like to get our own back for that. We've only lost twice all season, despite everything that has been said and written about us, and that was one of them, in the 99th minute at Old Trafford.

"I think everyone else, apart from the referee, had stopped their watches by that time. It was well over the time, we know that.

"But we're doing OK and we go into this match in good heart. It seems like a long time ago now and we have to look forward.

"We were gutted with the way it went but we know we have to defend better in those situations on Wednesday night and keep going right until the whistle."

While for some teams the Carling Cup is not a top priority, Given insists City are desperate to go all the way and win their first najor trophy since 1976.

He added: "We're not in Europe this year so the two cups are an opportunity for us to try and pick up some silverware. We've got a great squad of players and we're all hungry for success.

"We want to do something in the Carling Cup and if we can get a run going in the FA Cup then who knows?

"It's going to be a special game for everyone on Wednesday night. We know the fans are really excited about it, but so are the players.

"They are going to be two red hot semi-finals. It's a huge derby this one, I know now how much it means.

"When you get to this stage you've got to go on and win the thing. People forget semi-finalists very quickly. Even losing finalists get forgotten about, I know that from my two finals at Newcastle.

"Only the winners get remembered so we're desperate to win a competition and be remembered for it at this club as the first players to pick up a trophy for a long time.

"I've been to semi-finals and finals but now I want to go all the way and win something. We know how tough it's going to be but we're really looking forward to it."

Manchester City v Manchester United: Carling Cup semi-final postponed due to snow
Manchester City's Carling Cup semi-final against Manchester United has fallen victim to the Arctic weather conditions.

Senior City officials held talks with Greater Manchester Police, the Manchester Safety Advisory Committee and the Football League due to the adverse weather affecting the City of Manchester Stadium and surrounding area.

With over six inches of snow falling on central Manchester overnight and this morning, City had been forced to close the ticket office and club megastore due to the inability of staff to make their way in to work.

And with ice lying beneath the snow, the car parks at Eastlands are deemed unsafe for use. Walkways towards the stadium are also treacherous.

A further complication which had left the United game in doubt, which was a 48,000 sell-out, was the computerised turnstiles at Eastlands were frozen, a problem the club have been unable to resolve.

Although the playing surface at the stadium is free of snow and perfectly playable, safety issues outside the ground were of main concern to the club and authorities.

Conditions were also expected to deteriorate with local weather forecasts suggesting that temperatures could fall to as low as minus 5 degrees tomorrow.

The tie will now take place on January 19, which was originally the date for the second leg. That match will now take place on Wednesday, January 27.

Blackburn's semi-final first leg against Aston Villa, due to take place tonight, was earlier postponed because of the weather.

Salju Korbankan Semifinal Piala Carling

Man City striker Tevez refuses to celebrate scoring against Man Utd
-tribalfootball.com-

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/01/11/article-1242455-07D35F3D000005DC-88_468x318.jpg

Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez says he will NOT celebrate if he scores against Manchester United in tomorrow's Carling Cup semi.

Tevez, who has made a mockery of United's decision to not pay the £25million asking price for him by grabbing 15 goals already this season, said he will not celebrate if he scores against his old club tomorrow.

"It's normal for me to celebrate a goal, but if I score I will do so with respect to my opponents," Tevez told the Mirror. "I still respect the United fans and I hope they know that.

"I still have many friends in the United squad. That's never changed just because I now play for the other club in the city.

"I don't think anyone could doubt my commitment or work-rate for United in my two years there.

"For me it's always a great game to play against United as they're one of the best clubs in the world. But I'm with City now and I dream of winning derbies for them."

Carlos Tevez is set for an exciting evening as he looks for revenge over Manchester United. Manchester City's Argentine striker faces his former club in the first leg of the League Cup semi-final on Tuesday.

The Citizens were handed a disappointing defeat at Old Trafford (4-3) earlier this season and Tevez has admitted that revenge will be a motivating factor in Tuesaday's encounter.

"What happened at Old Trafford earlier this season is still in our heads and this is the moment for revenge," Tevez told the Daily Mirror.

"I want to play in this match for many reasons. It's a semi-final, a derby and there's a bitter rivalry between the two clubs.

"I believe this is a good moment for us to play a local rival like United, who never normally give anything to their opponents.

"In a semi-final over two matches and in a derby, anything is possible. But I think the key will be the return game at Old Trafford and we must ensure we get a good result at home."

Kompany calls on Manchester City fans to make it hell for United
-imscouting.com-

http://www.kickette.com/files/2009/08/augttovv.jpg

Manchester City's Vincent Kompany has called on the Eastlands crowd to play their part in this week's Carling Cup semi-final and create a "blue hell" for opponents Manchester United .

The Belgian defender said in an interview with Manchester Evening News, "We are definitely as excited as the fans, but one thing they can do for us is make the place a Blue hell tomorrow - if they do that, we will take care of the rest."

Looking back at Manchester City 's 2-0 defeat to Everton on Saturday, Kompany said "The Everton fans were great on Saturday, and pushed their team forward, so if our fans can do the same against United - which I am sure they will - we will be a stronger team.

"We will be super-motivated for this game, and it has all the ingredients for us to have a very good first leg."
Regardless of the significance of a derby semi-final clash, Kompany says that his Manchester City team-mates are eager to put things right following the disappointing performance against Everton.

He said, "When you lose a game the first thing you want to do is get back out on the pitch and do it better.

"One thing I can guarantee is that the players are hungry and ready, and we just want to go out and play well.

"It wouldn't have made a difference who we play in our next game. That's how highly I rate our team's professionalism - no matter who we play in the next game we aim to bounce back."

Manchester City have bounced back well from defeat so far this season, going 13 games unbeaten after losing to Manchester United in September and embarking on a 5 game winning streak following defeat to Spurs.

Defender set for shock United recall

Rio Ferdinand could make a shock early return to action for Man United in Tuesday's Carling Cup semi-final first leg at Man City.

The 31-year-old central defender has been struggling with a back problem so far this term and has made only seven appearances for the Red Devils. Ferdinand's last outing was in the defeat at Liverpool back in October, but he has made good progress in training and could be pitched in for the game at Eastlands this week.

Reports claim Sir Alex Ferguson could also have Nemanja Vidic in the side as the Serbian centre-half has recovered from the injury which forced him to miss the shock FA Cup defeat to Leeds on January 3.

Meanwhile, 22-year-old Senegalese striker Mame Biram Diouf could find himself in the United line up after he scored on his debut in Saturday's 3-0 win over Burnley when replacing knee-injury victim Dimitar Berbatov.

"It was a great moment for him," said Ferguson. "He has a great spring, is quick and looks to run behind defenders all the time. He is very good in the air and has a lot of good attributes. We are quite excited about him."

ALEX FERGUSON: 'NO REGRETS' ABOUT TEVEZ
-dailystar.co.uk-

http://11reds.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/Alex_Ferguson_and_C_699668a.jpg

SIR ALEX Ferguson insisted last night that he has “no regrets” about Carlos Tevez’s move from Manchester United to neighbours City.

The Argentina striker has been in stunning form for City and went into last night’s match at Everton as their 15-goal top scorer.

It follows his controversial move across Manchester, when Tevez elected not to remain at Old Trafford when his contract ran out. But United boss Ferguson said: “There is no issue – we made our pitch, he didn’t take it and he went to Manchester City. It’s no problem to us."

“He’s done well – so be it. I’ve no regrets and we move on.” Fergie also claimed he was no longer bothered about the “Welcome to Manchester” poster erected by City when Tevez became a Blue.

He said: “That’s gone now. I thought it was petty. They say it was a bit tongue in cheek – I don’t think it was. You have to understand they have been trying to catch up with us for years.”

Venue: City of Manchester Stadium Date: Tuesday, 19 January 2010
Kick-off: 2000 GMT
Coverage: BBC Sport website, BBC Radio 5 live, BBC local radio & live on BBC One

TEAM NEWS

Manchester City will almost certainly be without striker Roque Santa Cruz and new signing Patrick Vieira (both calf).

But Steven Ireland is close to recovering from a hamstring problem and could be available.

Manchester United are likely to be without Dimitar Berbatov (knee), but the game may come too soon for Rio Ferdinand to overcome his calf injury.

Nemanja Vidic could return after missing the last three games after tweaking a nerve in his leg.

Manchester City

Doubtful: Ireland (hamstring), Santa Cruz & Vieira (both calf)

Injured/unavailable: Adebayor (compassionate leave), Bridge, Johnson, Lescott (all knee), Toure (international duty)

Manchester United

Doubtful: Berbatov (knee), Foster (back), Macheda (hamstring), Vidic (nerve in leg)

Injured: Ferdinand (calf/back), Hargreaves (knee), O'Shea (thigh)

The former Inter Milan manager certainly has the pedigree - in a seven-year spell managing in Serie A he won three league titles and four Coppa Italias to add to the two Serie A titles and six Italian Cups he won as a player.

In Italy, Mancini was said to be "baciato dalla grazia" - "kissed by fortune" - and a seemingly effortless start to life at Eastlands with four wins in his first four games further sealed that reputation. But Saturday's defeat at Everton provided a reminder that greater challenges await.

Manchester United's season has been one of injuries, inconsistency and financial instability. The champions returned to winning ways on Sunday with a 3-0 victory over Burnley, but with seven defeats already this season and the wounds of the FA Cup exit to Leeds still raw, the League Cup has taken on greater significance and Ferguson is likely to field a stronger line-up against City than might have been expected.

MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

• This is the 153rd meeting between these sides in all competitions. Man Utd have won 62 to Man City's 41, with 49 draws.

• City beat United 4-0 en route to winning the 1976 League Cup final. They also beat United 4-3 on aggregate in the 1969/70 semi-final.

• United's only League Cup victory over City came in the third round of the 1974/75 competition.

• The last three Manchester derbies at Eastlands have ended 1-0, once in City's and twice in United's favour.

Manchester City

• Man City have won two League Cups (1970 and 1976) and were runners-up in 1974.

• This is City's first major semi-final since they defeated Ipswich Town to reach the 1981 FA Cup final.

• City last won a major trophy 34 years ago. Coincidentally, it was the League Cup.

• City have lost only two of their last 20 league and cup games.

Manchester United

• Man Utd are the current League Cup holders. They also won the 1992 and 2006 League Cups. They have been runners-up four times (1983, 1991, 1994, 2003).

• Under Sir Alex Ferguson United have contested seven League Cup semi-finals, reaching the final on six occasions.

• United have only won four of their last eight games.

• If selected, Edwin van der Sar will make his 200th appearance for United.

LAST MEETING

Man Utd 4-3 Man City (20 September 2009)

Man Utd scorers: Rooney 2, Fletcher 49, 80, Owen 90.

Man City scorers: Barry 16, Bellamy 52, 90.

Evra points out derby difference
-manchestereveningnews.co.uk-

http://m.gmgrd.co.uk/res/682.$plit/C_71_article_1189461_image_list_image_list_item_0_ image.jpg?18%2F01%2F2010%2015%3A23%3A25%3A102

PATRICE Evra is convinced the big difference between Manchester’s warring factions will be in evidence at Eastlands - because Manchester United will be looking to win a trophy, while City are trying to beat the club they loathe.

Not since 1981 have the Blues enjoyed the feeling of reaching a major Wembley final.

Since Spurs’ Ricky Villa famously slalomed his way through the City defence to win the FA Cup, United have competed in 17, which merely confirms a dominance the Red Devils have exerted in a run of almost three decades.

There is even a banner hanging from the Stretford End depicting the number of years since City’s last trophy in 1976, which ticks on one with each passing season.

And it is the mentality that comes from being the superior partner that Evra is sure will see United emerge victorious from the mouthwatering two-legged duel.

“We know the City people are talking about this game,” he said.

“But we are playing it to go one more step closer to winning the cup, maybe they are playing it to beat us. That is the difference between the two clubs.

“For us it is not just about beating Manchester City.

“Yes, it is an important game but Manchester United play a lot of big games.”

Yet Evra does accept the game will be a special occasion, just as it was at Old Trafford earlier this season when Michael Owen scored the stoppage-time goal that gave United victory in what has gone down as the best derby in history.

Whether that assessment of a seven-goal thriller is accurate or not, Evra acknowledges it was a moment of football magic.

Evra view

Prior to that day, his favourite Old Trafford moments were the Champions League semi-final win over Barcelona in 2008 and the seven-goal rout of Roma a year before.

“People always ask me what is the best atmosphere I have ever experienced at Old Trafford,” he said.

“Before it was Barcelona and the game against Roma.

“But when we beat City 4-3 it was crazy. Everyone was on the pitch at the end, the noise was incredible.

“More importantly, City had been doing well. But when they lost that game against us they started to struggle.

“If we win this match it might affect them again.”

Evra is certainly happy to hear all the confident noises emerging from the City camp.

While the France full-back is not getting drawn in by them, he hopes some of the City players do, to such an extent that they keep piling forward looking for goals.

Evra believes that tactic will play right into United’s hands, although Roberto Mancini does not seem quite as committed to the attacking game as Mark Hughes was.

Until the Italian was brought crashing back to earth by Everton on Saturday, it appeared he could do little wrong.

But Evra knows perceptions can shift quickly in football.

“Every time it is the same. Now people say Mancini is a great manager because he won the first four games,” he said.

“But if he loses against United, they will say he is the worst. That is the way football is now. It is only talk.”

For Evra, the proof of greatness is medals.

In that sense he is doing very well. Three titles on the trot, a Champions League, two League Cup winners’ medals, including last year’s shoot-out triumph over Tottenham.

And Evra is by no means satisfied. He has standards to keep.

“Every year I have been at Manchester United I have won two or three trophies,” he said.

“For me now, it is normal.

“If we don’t win the league it will look like I have not done my job properly. I only have the mentality to win, every year.”

Berbatov and Giggs doubtful for derby
-strettyender.com-

Manchester United are sweating over the fitness of Ryan Giggs and Dimitar Berbatov ahead of tomorrow’s Carling Cup semi final against Manchester City.

Berbatov – who may need surgery to a troublesome knee – limped off the pitch against Burnley on Saturday after scoring the opener in a 3-0 win, and faces a late fitness test to make tomorrow’s clash at Eastlands.

“I thought Dimitar had got a knock on the knee,” the United boss told manutd.com. “It turned out it was a dead leg. We are having a look at that at the moment.

“I am hoping he will be all right but we will see what he is like in the morning.

“He is one doubt. Ryan is another because he missed Saturday’s game. We have to give him time to recover a bit. All the rest are fit.”

Ferguson will have a tough time finding a good balance tomorrow as he looks to play a starting XI strong enough to get the job done as well as being loyal to the youngsters who have got us there.

“I have got to think about getting a mix in terms of the programme we have got and also the fact I have given young players a game in the past,” said Ferguson.

“I will have a strongish team but there will be some young players.”

City can usurp United - Mancini
-teamtalk.com-

http://images.teamtalk.com/09/12/330/Roberto-Mancini-thumbs-up_2401664.jpg

Roberto Mancini has claimed Manchester City could one day knock Manchester United off their pedestal as England's biggest club.

Mancini will experience his first local derby at Eastlands on Tuesday knowing victory in the two-legged semi-final would secure City a place in a major domestic showpiece for the first time since 1981.

Given the amounts of cash owner Sheikh Mansour has already invested, with the promise of much more to come, it seems only a matter of time before a 34-year trophy drought comes to an end as well.

And, given United's much-publicised financial restraints, there are some who feel it is also only a matter of time before the Red Devils are usurped as top dogs.

It may seem improbable given United have joined Liverpool on 18 titles by winning 11 since the Premier League was formed in 1992, but Mancini does not believe it is beyond the realms of possibility.

"If we work well, it is possible," said the Italian.

"United have a big history. They have been a good team for many years.

"City can become a big team in the next year. It is most important that we get into the top four.

"That would change the situations. Surely it would be better if City were also a big club in the future because then Manchester could have two clubs in the Champions League."

That is the stated aim for this season, although, having scrambled into a top-four berth last weekend, City promptly fell straight back out of it again on Saturday when they were beaten at Everton.

It was Mancini's first loss, made more notable for a recurrence of Roque Santa Cruz's calf injury after just four minutes that will keep him out for at least a month and his replacement, Robinho, being substituted himself early in the second half as Shaun Wright-Phillips was introduced.

The move has been interpreted as a clear signal Mancini is not impressed by the £32.5million Brazilian's lack of effort and it is once again being suggested Robinho is heading for the Eastlands exit door, if not this month then next summer.

Mancini tried to play down such talk, although he hardly helped matters with an unfavourable comparison to Carlos Tevez.

"It was a bad night for us all. Robinho can play well but it is not always possible and on Saturday he played the same as his team-mates.

"When I put Wright-Phillips on I had to take a striker off because I cannot keep five forwards on the pitch.

"I had to decide between Robinho and Carlos."

In truth, the conclusion was an obvious one and Mancini will be pinning his hopes on Tevez to do some damage to his old club, having left Old Trafford in such acrimonious circumstances last summer.

"I hope that Carlos can score goals because he is an ex-United player," said Mancini.

"But it is important that the squad plays well. And we must not forget this match is over two games."

As Patrick Vieira's debut is on hold until he recovers from the calf injury he picked up immediately before his move from Inter Milan, Mancini is probably relieved Stephen Ireland is at least fit enough to take up a place on the bench after missing three matches with a hamstring problem.

Mancini admitted his first taste of defeat in England left him feeling angry - not so much with his team's performance, which was poor, but purely because he is a bad loser.

However, he has been made aware of a far more tense situation at United, where the financial restraints imposed by the Glazer family's controversial takeover have been laid bare.

Not that Mancini expects that to have any impact tomorrow.

"Manchester United have been on the top for many years," he said.

"It is not important if they have problems.

"On a pitch there are only players, not money."

Manchester City Are Amongst Manchester United's Real Rivals Now - Sir Alex Ferguson
Fergie feels he has to take Mancini's men seriously now...
By Zack Wilson
Jan 18, 2010 6:45:00 PM

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has acknowledged that Manchester City must now be regarded as a real contender for honours this season.

Although somewhat scathing at times this season about the Red Devils' neighbours, Ferguson admits that the Citizens will not go away and could be challenging his side over the coming seasons.

"You have to recognise they are a competitor now," said Ferguson, according to Press Association Sport.

"We have had to wait a long time for it to be like that but they are obviously making a much better fist of their league programme this year than they have done in the past.

"You could not compare it to Rangers and Celtic but having rivals in the same city does create far more emotion."

United travel to Eastlands on Tuesday night for the first leg of the League Cup semi-final.

Meanwhile, Ferguson also refutes the suggestion that the tie somehow means more to City becuase of their long period without meaningful success.

The Citizens last reached a Wembley final in 1981, but Ferguson inisists that the tie means just as much to his players as Mancini's.

"That is a popular argument," he mused.

"But it doesn't matter how many semi-finals you have played in, they are occasions when you always want to do well. That is important."

Man City v Man Utd team news

Stephen Ireland will return to the Manchester City bench for Tuesday's Carling Cup semi-final with Manchester United at Eastlands.

Ireland has missed three games after picking up a hamstring injury at Wolves, but Roberto Mancini will have the midfielder amongst his substitutes tomorrow as City look to establish a first-leg lead.

Roque Santa Cruz will miss his club's bid to reach a first domestic final since 1981 after suffering a recurrence of his calf injury at Everton, while Patrick Vieira (calf) will not be considered for his debut.

Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher returns from suspension for the derby clash.

The Scotland skipper will almost certainly replace Paul Scholes in central midfield, where he may be joined by Darron Gibson.

Brazilian twins Fabio and Rafael Da Silva are also under consideration by Alex Ferguson while Dimitar Berbatov is doubtful with a dead leg.

Manchester City squad: Given, Taylor, Zabaleta, Richards, Onuoha, Sylvinho, Garrido, Trippier, Wright-Phillips, Kompany, De Jong, Barry, Bellamy, Robinho, Benjani, Petrov, Weiss, Tevez, Vidal, Boyata.

Manchester United squad: Van der Sar, Kuszczak, Neville, Rafael, De Laet, Brown, Evans, Evra, Fabio, Valencia, Park, Carrick, Scholes, Anderson, Gibson, Obertan, Rooney, Berbatov, Owen, Welbeck, Diouf.

Manchester City v Manchester United: match preview

Key battle: Nigel de Jong v Darren Fletcher

Both teams have suffered defensive problems in recent weeks, so the winner of this battle will be crucial in deciding the outcome of the game. De Jong and Fletcher are key figures in protecting their back four, but Fletcher has more to his game, as his two goals against City last September testify.

Talking tactics

City now operate a rigid 4-4-2 system under Roberto Mancini, a formation dismissed as outdated by Sir Alex Ferguson and his former assistant Carlos Queiroz more than five years ago. Ferguson’s preference for 4-3-3 won him the Champions League in 2008, but without Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tévez, the system now looks flawed.

Touchline duel: Roberto Mancini v Sir Alex Ferguson

The Scarf versus The Hairdryer, Bobby Manc versus the Godfather. This could develop into the managerial clash that defines the next five years if Mancini builds on his promising start at Eastlands. Ferguson has seen off numerous rivals, but City’s money will make Mancini a formidable foe.

Probable teams

Manchester City (4-4-2): Given; Garrido, Kompany, Richards, Zabaleta; Petrov, Barry, De Jong, Wright-Phillips; Tévez, Bellamy.
Manchester United (4-3-3): Van der Sar; Evra, Vidic, Evans, Rafael; Giggs, Fletcher, Gibson; Obertan, Rooney, Valencia.

"It looks like Ferguson might actually play the full strength team. But if he did go with Gibson, Macheda, Welbeck etc I honestly wouldn’t mind. I can see that in the eyes of some it might be devalued, but after no silverware since 1976 – and no semi-finals since 1981 – I can’t afford to be fussy. To be very frank, I’d love him to play your under-15s if he’s willing to. But I fear it’s going to be Giggs, Fletcher, Rooney et al tomorrow evening." ( City fan dr salah satu blog mereka )

CARLOS TEVEZ showed Alex Ferguson what he's missing by firing two goals to hand Manchester City a vital Carling Cup advantage.

United boss Fergie refused to pay £25million for the Argentine last summer — and the striker proved why the Scot was wrong to let him leave Old Trafford with a super show.

The 25-year-old hitman smashed a 40th minute penalty to level the tie after Ryan Giggs' early strike had given the visitors the advantage in this semi-final clash.

Tevez hit his second — and his 17th goal of the season — just after the hour mark to underline his status as one of the Premier League's top marksman.

United had taken an early lead when Giggs stroked home from close range with just 16 minutes on the clock.

Antonio Valencia beat Craig Bellamy on the right flank and teased in a cross which Wayne Rooney flicked on before the Welshman poked home.

Tevez should have levelled when he got in front of Rafael to get his head on Shaun Wright-Phillips' inviting cross.

But the Argentina ace could not keep his effort on target and it bounced away harmlessly for Edwin Van der Sar to gather.

The Dutchman got a firm punch to Bellamy's corner and after the Welshman again received possession, MicahRichards' header cannoned into debutant Dedryck Boyata, taking all the sting out of it.

Michael Carrick blazed a long-range effort well over before Bellamy scorched 50 yards downfield, only to be blocked off by Rafael.

Nigel De Jong brought a decent one-handed save out of Van der Sar with a 30-yard piledriver before the moment City were desperate for arrived five minutes before half-time.

Yet again, Bellamy's pace caused the problem as Rafael found himself exposed.

The teenager had two tugs — both outside the area — but he was still holding on as Bellamy entered the box and referee Mike Dean had no hesitation in pointing to the spot.

Van der Sar employed delaying tactics — at the cost of a yellow card — but Tevez was not to be denied and he rammed the ball home before wheeling away to celebrate.

He gestured towards substitute Gary Neville — indicating what he thought of the United captain's assertion that Alex Ferguson had been right to sell him in the summer.

Rooney was presented with an excellent chance right at the start of the second period.

Yet again, though, Shay Given came out on top and City survived their scare.

Valencia fouled Tevez to give Javier Garrido the chance to curl a free-kick into the visitors' box.

Vincent Kompany got up highest but could not keep his effort on target.

Successive corners for United ended in nothing more than a Wright-Phillips counter-attack, then Gareth Barry cost his side a decent attacking opportunity when he fouled Darren Fletcher.

Patrice Evra made two decisive interventions as Bellamy's corner fizzed across the box, the initial clearance offering Richards the chance to launch an acrobatic effort goalwards which the Frenchman turned away.

De Jong fired wide as City maintained their offensive.

Given produced yet another fine block to turn away Giggs' far-post header after Rooney had delivered the cross.

Rooney then made space for himself on the edge of the area but curled his shot over.

City were much more of a threat, though, and when Van der Sar only half-cleared Bellamy's corner, Pablo Zabaleta's off-target effort was turned back into the danger area by Kompany and Tevez was on hand to head home.

This time he immediately raced to the home dug-out and cupped his ears, in exactly the same manner he did when he scored for United in a Premier League meeting between these two sides late last season when the crowd's demand for him to stay at Old Trafford was at its peak.

Despite a late United bombardment, City's backline held firm to gain the advantage ahead of next week's return at Old Trafford.

City Should Worry… Not Us

We’ll batter them at Old Trafford.

Manchester City were outplayed pretty much from the first whistle to the final whistle on their home turf, and only collected the win because they were awarded a penalty for a foul outside the box.

It wasn’t our best performance over the 90 minutes but we still managed to control the game. If we can play like that away, I can’t ****ing wait to have them at home.

Like the commentator said in the first half, it was as though the game was being played at Old Trafford, with City players overwhelmed by the occasion and our fans outsinging theirs.

We had shots cleared off the line and City didn’t get out of their own half for the last ten minutes.

The biggest disappointment of the day is of course Carlos Tevez getting both of the goals. Wayne Rooney muttered something to him as he stepped up to take the penalty, obviously forgetting the ignorant twat can’t speak English. He was interviewed after the game in regards to how he felt after scoring two goals against his former club. “I feel OK,” he replied.

It should come as no surprise that his bitterness overflowed with his celebration, despite his claims he would do nothing of the sort. However many goals he scores, however many pats on the back he gets from that cheesy scarf wearing manager, he knows it will never feel as good as playing for the best manager in the world for the Champions. He cupped his ears, as he did so desperately when wishing for United to sign him week after week last season, showing everyone just how obsessed he still is with his former club, just like Emanuel Adebayor. When City sign players who are interested in doing well for them, rather than proving a point to their former club, they might get to tear our banner down. But I won’t be holding my breath.

Semifinal Piala Carling
Dua Gol Tevez Menampar "Setan Merah"

http://www.kompas.com/data/photo/2010/01/20/0458181p.jpg

MANCHESTER, KOMPAS.com - Penyerang Manchester City, Carlos Tevez, menampar mantan klubnya, Manchester United (MU).

Tevez kesulitan menjangkaunya.

Delapan menit kemudian, City kembali menciptakan peluang. Namun, kiper Edwin van der Sar berhasil mengamankan tandukan Micah Richards.

Ancaman tersebut langsung dibalas MU pada menit ke-32. Wayne Rooney melakukan akselerasi kemudian meneruskannya kepada Giggs. Tanpa pikir panjang Giggs memberikan kepada Michael Carrick. Sayang, tendangan Carrick masih melayang di atas gawang Shay Given.

Skor pun imbang 1-1 hingga turun minum.

Setelah jeda, MU langsung mengambil inisiatif serangan. Aksi Rooney lagi-lagi memaksa Given jatuh-bangun demi menjaga sarangnya. City aman karena Given sigap menahan bola.

Gol ini membuat "The Citizens" bak kuda binal. Mereka tampil semakin percaya diri dengan terus menggempur lawannya. Pada menit ke-70, giliran Bellamy membahayakan gawang lawan. Usai menerima umpan Wright-Philips, Bellamy langsung melepaskan tendangan keras.

Jelang laga usai, MU semakin ngotot menciptakan gol.

Susunan Pemain

MANCHESTER United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is confident the Reds can overturn their first-leg deficit after the 2-1 Carling Cup semi-final defeat against City.

Ryan Giggs put United ahead only for former Red Carlos Tevez to hit a winning brace.

"It is just the way these things happen," Ferguson said.

"Football can be like that. It can bite you.

"We have had a few players leave the club and score against us. There is no issue. I am happy with the players we have got."

Ferguson added: "We played well and dominated the match. We were reasonably in control but we had a mad five minutes before half-time that brought them back into the game.

"Everyone can see the penalty for themselves. It is the kind of decision that has gone against us tonight but could go for us on another day.

"But with the crowd at Old Trafford and the occasion and what is at stake we will be okay."

Sir Alex Ferguson had a simple message for his players after the Reds' 2-1 Carling Cup semi-final, first leg defeat at Manchester City: Forget the events of Eastlands, just win at Old Trafford.

Ryan Giggs' early opener was overturned by a controversial double from Blues striker Carlos Tevez, but the United manager was far from perturbed ahead of next Wednesday's return in M16.

"I think we dominated the game, we just let it slip for two minutes in the first half," Sir Alex told MUTV. "We had a mad two minutes where we lost a bit of our composure and they got in the game.

"I think the important thing is to go and win the match (at Old Trafford). Forget about the scoreline today, win your match and we have a great chance."

The Blues seemed devoid of inspiration before they were awarded a hotly-contested penalty for a tug by Rafael on Craig Bellamy. In the second half, the Brazilian was incorrectly adjudged to have conceded a corner. Tevez was on hand to profit from both decisions. Nevertheless, Sir Alex refused to criticise referee Mike Dean.

"Of course, it happens that way," he said. "Sometimes you get them for you, sometimes you don't. You just have to take it, bite the bullet and get on with it.

"They got a decision for them to get them back in the game, but after that you can lose a game anyway," he said. "And set-pieces are a part of the game today and you have to handle them well.

"Was it a corner kick? I don't know, I'd leave that to the experts, but we didn't defend it well. After that we dominated but couldn't get the ball to go in. There was some good football, I was pleased. The performance level was good."

Goal-scorer Ryan Giggs says United will take heart from Tuesday’s performance at Eastlands, despite losing 2-1 to Manchester City in the first leg of the Carling Cup semi-final.

The Welshman, who’s played in 31 consecutive Manchester derbies, put the Reds in front on 17 minutes… only to see former United striker Carlos Tevez turn round the deficit with a goal on either side of half-time.

“It was the perfect start,” Giggs told MUTV. “You always want to go 1-0 up in a cup tie away from home. After that we probably weren’t as crisp with our passing and kept playing the ball backwards. We let City back into it, really.”

City’s lifeline arrived courtesy of a dubious penalty. Rafael tugged at Craig Bellamy’s shirt but contact appeared to be outside the box.

“We felt we were a little unlucky to go into the break at 1-1,” Giggs admitted, “but we also knew we could play better.

“[The penalty decision] was a turning point. If we’d have gone in 1-0 up it might have been a different story. Sometimes you get decisions and sometimes you don’t – you just have to get on with it.”

Tevez grabbed a second on 65 minutes before United dominated the closing stages as the Reds threw everything at City in search of an equaliser.

“We created plenty of chances but we didn’t have that stroke of luck or the composure in front of goal. Hopefully we’ll have that in the second leg – hopefully we can put the chances away this time.

“After they scored we played well and probably deserved to get that equaliser.

“Last season we comprehensively beat Derby County in the second leg of the semi so hopefully we can do that again. It’s going to be tough – City are a good team – but there were enough signs – especially in the last half-hour – to suggest we’re good enough to beat them.”

Carlos Tevez yang 'Mahal' Buat MU
Doni Wahyudi - detiksport

http://www.detiksport.com/images/content/2010/01/20/72/TevezCity-AFP150.jpg

Beberapa waktu lalu Sir Alex sempat menyatakan kalau dirinya tak menyesal membiarkan Tevez pergi.

http://www.kompas.com/data/photo/2010/01/20/0641531p.jpg

Ia menilai keabsahan gol pertama Manchester City agak meragukan.

"Nanti bakal alot. City tim bagus tapi ada cukup sinyal terutama pada setengah jam terakhir untuk kami mengalahkan mereka," pungkasnya.

Gol Tevez Tertuju pada Neville dan Fergie

http://www.kompas.com/data/photo/2010/01/20/0607075p.jpg

MANCHESTER, KOMPAS.com - Striker Manchester City Carlos Tevez begitu gembira usai menjadi penentu kemenangan atas bekas klubnya, Manchester United.

Gary Neville faces censure for middle-finger gesture at Carlos Tevez

• Unused substitute gestured after Carlos Tevez's penalty
• Alex Ferguson said City player's celebration 'not an issue'

http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Sport/Pix/columnists/2010/1/19/1263945170178/Gary-Neville-finger-gestu-001.jpg

Gary Neville could be in trouble with the Football Association after he reacted to Carlos Tevez's first goal in the Carling Cup semi-final by raising his middle finger towards the Manchester City striker.

The FA wrote to Neville to warn him about his provocative celebration after Michael Owen had scored the winner when the two sides met at Old Trafford in September, and the governing body will look at the photographs from tonight to determine whether they need to take action against the unused substitute.

Tevez went on to celebrate his second goal by running to the touchline and cupping his ears in front of the two dugouts, but Sir Alex Ferguson chose not to question his former player's behaviour.

"That's just the way it happens," the United manager said of Tevez's match-winning contribution. "It can be like that. It can bite you, football. We've had a few players leave the club and score against us. It's not an issue. I'm happy with the players we have."

The victory has left Manchester City as "51% favourites" to reach the final, according to their manager, Roberto Mancini, but Ferguson was not too disconsolate as he reflected on his team's performance.

"I thought we played well. We *dominated the match. There were a mad couple of minutes before the equalising goal and we lost composure for 15 minutes but, after that, we were OK. It will be a Man United crowd at Old Trafford and, with the occasion and what is at stake, we will be OK. The most important thing is that we perform like we did today."

Ferguson had described Tevez earlier this season as not being worth his £25.5m fee but the Argentina international is the most prolific player in English football on current form, with 13 goals in his last 11 games.

"I don't know if what was said made a difference for Carlos," Mancini said. "I just hope that he plays as well in the *second game because it will be very difficult at Old Trafford. I am just happy that he plays for us."

Mancini acknowledged that United had "three or four good chances" to equalise and there was an element of good fortune attached to the penalty that was given against Rafael da Silva for *pulling Craig Bellamy's arm. The first contact was outside the penalty area and Ferguson said: "It's there for everyone to see."

Soal Penalti, Fergie Enggan Berkomentar
Doni Wahyudi - detiksport

http://www.detiksport.com/images/content/2010/01/20/72/Tevezpenalti-AFP285.jpg

Manchester - Sir Alex Ferguson biasanya sangat vokal jika merasa dirugikan wasit.

Fergie: Kami Tetap Mendominasi
Reky Herling Kalumata - detiksport

http://www.detiksport.com/images/content/2010/01/20/72/Ferguson-isi.jpg

Ia melihat Manchester United tetap mendominasi jalannya pertandingan.

Mad-chester! Carlos Tevez goads Gary Neville as City seal Cup win amid ugly scenes

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/01/20/article-1244580-07EE00F3000005DC-42_228x343.jpghttp://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/01/20/article-1244580-07EE02C7000005DC-631_224x342.jpg

Carlos Tevez scored two goals in an explosive Carling Cup semi-final first leg last night and was involved in an ugly altercation with his former Manchester United team-mate Gary Neville.

The Manchester City striker celebrated his first goal with a hand gesture that appeared to hit back at comments from Neville, who had claimed this week that United had been right to sell Tevez to their bitter rivals.

Neville, who was warming up on the touchline, flashed back an offensive one-fingered response.

After the 2-1 Carling Cup semi-final victory, Tevez said: ‘This was special for me. My two goals were for the City fans.’

His first-half penalty cancelled out United’s opener from Ryan Giggs. After Tevez headed the sweetest of winning goals in the second half, he ran towards the dug-
out and cupped his ears in a celebration reminiscent of his demonstration
towards the United board after scoring against City at Old Trafford last season. Neville could be in trouble with the FA again after his apparently obscene gesture.

City midfielder Gareth Barry said: ‘All the talk before the game was about Carlos but he did his talking on the pitch, as he always does, with a great performance and two goals.

‘The tie is still in the balance and we expect a real battle at Old Trafford. Shay Given pulled off some great saves but it was a good all-round performance. I hope we can have a similar result next week.’

Ferguson said: ‘We’ve had a few players who have left the club and scored against us. It is not an issue. It’s just the way it happens. It can be like that - it can bite you.

‘We lost our composure for 15 minutes but after that we were OK. For most of the game we were in control but those mad two minutes before half-time brought City back into the game.

‘I’m not getting into the penalty,’ he added amid suggestions that Rafael Da Silva has fouled City striker Craig Bellamy outside the box. ‘Everyone can see it for themselves. The decisions have gone against us.

‘The crowd will make a difference at United. It will be a great occasion and they play their part but hopefully if we perform like we did tonight, we will be okay.’

City manager Roberto Mancini punched the air after seeing City take a step nearer their first trophy for 34 years. He said: ‘Carlos played well and scored two important goals but the team played very well. The most important thing is that we won the game.

‘I’m very happy for Carlos because it was important for him to score two goals against United.

‘I don’t now the situation with Gary Neville but I hope Carlos can play as well in the second game and score another goal. I don’t know if there is a better striker in the
Premier League at the moment. We’re very happy for him tonight.

‘We’re happy that he plays for us now. But United have good players like Rooney, Giggs and Berbatov.

‘We have an advantage now, a 51 per cent chance of going through. We know we will have a hard game at Old Trafford.

‘I wasn’t happy after 20 minutes because we were losing 1-0 but we played well in the second half. In the last 15 minutes when United had three or four chances we had a very good keeper.

‘We had to defend well because they were going to have chances.’

City could also be in trouble with the FA after Patrice Evra was hit by a lighter as he went to collect the ball for a throw-in in the second half.

Seperti nya Opa ga mau kritik wasit lagi, two thumbs buat dia.

emang kampre t tuh Bellamy, ditarik diluar kotak penalti, jatuhnya sengaja didalam kotak penalti lagi, mustinya para penyelam kyk dia itu yg musti dikasih kartu :sikat:

Biar dkira alesan mah, tetep aja yg bodoh wasit mike dean. Parah bad call trus dr dia kalo pas City megang bola. Kalo pas United yg megang dan layak berbuah tendangan bebas si Mike Dean malah ga niup.

Jujur Fergie bener" telat masukin Owen. Rooney bner" on fire pas Owen baru masuk Doi butuh tandem di depan. Babak kedua pas City unggul keliatan bnget kita baru on fire, Carrick n Fletcher baru keliatan di babak kedua passing"nya.

Si Tevez lagi buat gara" dari selebrasinya.....

setuju gan... Stupid Call from Stupid Referee...:hajar3:
overall sebenernya kita maen bagus (kitaaa...:devil1:) walau masih kurang efektif krn cm pake 1 striker...tp prmainan lebih bagus ketimbang kemaren2, cm faktor ketidak beruntungan, peluang2 dr Carrick, Rooney, Valencia, Owen...cm nyaris doangan.. ditambah si wasit bodoh !

tp kayanya si Boss perlu nyoba yaa, duet Rooney-Owen maen dr awal...

mari kita tunggu pembalasan di OT minggu depan....:serbu:

Giggs - No regrets over Tevez
Welshman unmoved after City striker's Carling Cup double

http://img.skysports.com/10/01/218x298/Carlos-Tevez-Ear-Gesture-Fans-Man-C-v-Man-U-C_2409188.jpg

Ryan Giggs insists Manchester United should have no regrets about letting Carlos Tevez leave for Manchester City.

The Argentina forward returned to haunt his former club on Tuesday night by scoring both goals as City came from behind to beat United 2-1 in their Carling Cup semi-final first-leg tie.

After each of his strikes Tevez taunted the Red Devils for what he believes was a lacklustre attempt to retain his services last season.

Although Giggs remains a keen admirer of the 25-year-old's abilities, he does not feel United need to reproach themselves at letting him leave, pivotal as he was at Eastlands.

Giggs said: "There are no regrets. Carlos is a good player and he is a good penalty taker. If he gets chances he scores.

"We know what Carlos is all about but he chose to go to City. That is the end of it.

"We have quality players at the club and we have shown that."
Response

United now find themselves in a similar position to last season, where they needed to overcome a one-goal deficit against Derby to secure a final berth at Wembley.

On that occasion United romped to a 4-2 victory in front of their own fans, but Giggs admits it could be a far tougher task next Wednesday.

He added: "I hope it is similar to the Derby game last season.

"We beat them quite comprehensively in the second leg so hopefully we can do that again.

"It is going to be tough, because City are a good team, but there were enough signs, especially later on, that we can beat them."

Van der Sar: Handled well, punched decently and was alert but let down crucially at key moments 7

Rafael: Started OK but once Bellamy got up a head of steam it was always a struggle 5

Brown: In the air he wasn’t in any trouble but once on the ground he had his hands full 6

Evans: He was the one who largely had to deal with livewire Tevez and he was stretched to the limit 6

Evra: Snappy in the tackle and determined going forward, pity Bellamy didn’t play on right 8

Valencia: Constantly had Garrido in trouble and put in some dangerous service 7

Carrick: A calm head in the midfield maelstrom but didn’t make use of it 5

Fletcher: Drive and purpose kept United’s heads above water in engine room 7

Anderson: The Brazilian started powerfully but faded all too quickly 5

Giggs: Excelled in the Old Trafford derby but he was in and out of this one. Madfe made it count when he was in, though 6

Rooney: Tested Given more than anyone else but he’s crying out for help 8

Substitutes:

Owen: (Anderson 72) Hardly in it 5

Scholes: (Valencia 88) No late impact 5

Diouf: (Rafael 90)
