25. ANTONIO VALENCIA
Birthdate: 04 Aug 1985
Birthplace: Nueva Loja
Position: Winger
Appearances: 0
Goals: 0
Joined United: 30 Jun 2009
United Debut:
International: Ecuador
Ecuadorian winger Antonio Valencia became United's first summer signing in 2009 when he joined the Reds from Wigan Athletic on 30 June.
The skilful 23-year-old has more than 30 caps for his country, including one in the 1-0 defeat to England in the 2006 World Cup. His performances at the tournament earned him a nomination for FIFA's Best Young Player award and raised a few eyebrows among Europe's top bosses.
It was Wigan boss Paul Jewell, however, who won the race for his signature and he arrived at the JJB Stadium on loan that year, having previously enjoyed stints in Spain at Recreativo Huelva (loan) and Villarreal. It was the latter who first spotted his talent, bringing him to Europe from Ecuadorian club El Nacional in 2005.
In his three seasons at Wigan, Valencia made 83 appearances, scoring seven times. One of his most memorable games actually came against United in January 2009, when he ran riot on the right wing in the Latics' 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford.
Steve Bruce, who spent two years managing Valencia at Wigan, regards him as one of the most exciting prospects in the English game. His pace and ability to go past a man and reach the byline were key to Wigan’s rise under Bruce, and his supply to Emile Heskey helped ensure the team’s survival in the top flight in 2007/08.
"Valencia has got that thing which not many players have anymore – the ability to dribble," Bruce said.
"People who can run with the ball, take it up the pitch and beat a man are a dying breed – there aren't many around. We don't produce players who want to dribble, we seem to produce the archetypal steady English player. If a player does want to take his man on and run with the ball, people will want to pay to go and see him."

Sir Alex Ferguson singled out Antonio Valencia for special praise, after the Ecuadorian laid on two goals in an impressive home debut.
The summer signing from Wigan Athletic crossed for Wayne Rooney and Tom Cleverley to bag the telling goals against Valencia, and generally caught the eye for his robust, direct approach at both ends of the pitch.
“The important thing for me was Valencia’s performance, I thought he was very, very good,” Sir Alex told MUTV. “He’s got great balance and he’s got power and speed. Coming to our club, he’s immediately taken the challenge well and with purpose, so we’re very pleased with what we’ve seen so far.”
While Valencia’s contribution merited special praise, Sir Alex could also reflect on a string of fine performances as his side deservedly edged an entertaining game. A glut of young talents hinted at a bright future, while the Reds’ forward line created chances with promising regularity.
“It was an opportunity to play a lot of the younger players,” he said. “Tom Cleverley scored, Darron Gibson had two fantastic shots from outside the box – he showed his power tonight, which is pleasing – and Ritchie De Laet and Fabio gave excellent performances.
“I also thought Macheda’s movement in the last third was fantastic. For a 17-year-old, he’s something special. Michael (Owen) showed marvellous movement. He should’ve scored four, but he was unlucky with the first one that he just chipped it over the goalkeeper’s shoulder and by the post. He deserved at least one of them."

Fergie Puji Valencia Lagi
Rossi Finza Noor - detiksport
Manchester - Sir Alex Ferguson senang dirinya tak salah membeli Antonio Valencia.

I prefer the more direct player or a simple/straight dribbler like Giggs, Macca, Overmars, Lennon, and the latest, VALENCIA........

Ferguson pleased with Valencia progress
August 26, 2009 MEN
ANTONIO Valencia is easing his way into his United career.
The £18m winger notched up his first official Premier League assist for the Reds when he served up the cross for Wayne Rooney's opener at the Ecuadorian's former club Wigan last Saturday.
The 23-year-old beat his marker Maynor Figueroa and immediately distributed an inviting cross to get his United stats off the mark.
Reds boss Sir Alex Ferguson is pleased with Valencia's bedding-in process.
"We see the potential in Antonio, particularly in the training sessions," said Fergie.
"He has good stuff to work with. He is quick and he is balanced. He is tough and is a good crosser of the ball.
"He has areas in which he has to develop and we have an idea how to go about that. The lad has a chance.
"Some players have come to the club and taken to it like a duck to water, some need time. He will be all right."
Fergie, however, admits he may have made a mistake by not choosing Valencia in his line-up for the match at Burnley last midweek.
"We maybe should have picked Antonio at Turf Moor," he added.
"I had the Wigan game in mind for him. You don't know how they handle Saturday-Wednesday- Saturday-Wednesday at this club. It is a different kettle of fish.
"Because he was a new player into that we decided to leave him out at Burnley."
Wes Brown could be pushing for a recall in United's key Premier League encounter with resurgent Arsenal at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The England star missed Saturday's win at Wigan but came through an hour of last night's reserve-team triumph over Bolton.

Valencia tuh benernya dribbler ya? yang mencari celah buat diterobos? keliatan sih beberapa kali gocak-gocek nya "menggairahkan" (gila ini trit bisa bikin orang2 salah kaprah) :peace:
Tapi kayanya permainannya masi belum 'abis-abisan' kalo emang dia punya skill dribble.. bener kata brader bleui sih, mungkin masih malu2.. anak baru..

sepakat kita bro kenny.. memang daya sprintnya doi bagus.. mungkin cuma tinggal diasah dikit aja keberaniannya untuk nerobos.. dia bisa jadi our new kanchelskis tuh....
doi seneng passing, crossing... and seneng lari... nah tinggal diasah aja dikit lagi... dia akan jadi tipikal winger sejati yang solid..

Kalo diliat-liat, bener jg :malu:, dribbling nya dia jarang buat keep bola ya? dribbling nya dipake buat melesat ke depan, jadi simple touch gitu deh..

Mungkin bisa jadi the next OGS dari segi profesionalitas ya,he...

Nemanja Vidic says Antonio Valencia was 'paralysed' by the pressure of trying to fill the hole left by Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United.
But the Serbia defender believes Valencia is now showing his true worth after hitting two goals in two games for the Barclays Premier League champions.

Valencia, Juru Selamat MU
Narayana Mahendra Prastya - detiksport
http://www.detiksport.com/images/content/2009/11/06/72/valencia-reuters.jpg
"Saya sangat gembira melihat Antonio membikin gol.

Valencia Berhasil Gantikan Ronaldo
Fetra Hariandja - Okezone
http://bola.okezone.com/images-data/content/2009/11/19/45/277229/XAJ0530ZhU.jpg
LONDON - Manchester United pernah kehilangan salah seorang pemain kuncinya, winger Cristiano Ronaldo. Efektivitas serangan The Red Devil sempat kurang maksimal karena hilangnya Ronaldo.
Seperti dilansir reuters, Kamis (19/11/2009), pelatih Chelsea Carlo Ancelotti mengatakan Valencia mampu menggantikan peran Ronaldo di Old Traffoord.
Valencia menggantikan tugas Ronaldo.

Fletcher delighted Valencia amongst the goals for Man Utd

Darren Fletcher was delighted to see Antonio Valencia get on the scoresheet for Manchester United in their 3-0 victory over Everton.
As the direct replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, Valencia has been cajoled into increasing what was a minimal goals output at Wigan.
He only scored seven for the Latics last season and, including the deflected effort against CSKA Moscow that UEFA have credited him with, the Ecuador international now has four for United.
He is also starting to impose himself on games, with his forceful running unhinging a disappointing Everton outfit who seemed intent on containment.
"Antonio is a top-class player," said Fletcher. "He is getting used to the way we play and he was in the groove again.
"He is a really strong physical lad who can get goals. We have seen that in training and I believe he is going to get a lot for Manchester United."

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed he's ordered Antonio Valencia to shoot on sight.
Cristiano Ronaldo was known for his ability to score from almost anywhere and £16million signing Valencia has hit four goals in seven games.
Boss Fergie said: "Valencia's improving but his lack of goals was an issue.
"We've encouraged him to shoot as much as he can because he's got a powerful shot."

Thursday 3 December
18:00 Well, it was close (perhaps the tightest poll we’ve ever run) but I’m very happy to reveal Antonio Valencia is ManUtd.com's Player of the Month for November. More than 11,000 of you had your say, with the Ecuadorian winger garnering 30 per cent of the vote – he just pipped Darren Fletcher (29 per cent) and Ryan Giggs (28 per cent) to the honour. Congratulations, Antonio! (NC)

Hampir sama kayak PJS lah..
Tapi AV termasuk cepat adaptasinya, di awal musim dia masih terlihat canggung dengan gaya main United (Minder kali...?) tapi pelan-pelan dia mulai nyetel.

Valencia emerging from Ronaldo’s shadow
-belfasttelegraph.co.uk-
http://d.yimg.com/i/ng/sp/empics/20090806/12/1512888042-soccer-pre-season-friendly-manchester-united-v-valencia-old-trafford.jpg
If Sir Alex Ferguson actually attached significance to such things — and he doesn't — you could be forgiven that he sought to put the loss of Cristiano Ronaldo out of mind by signing a diametrically opposite personality for the right wing when his much treasured playmaker left for the Bernabeu this summer.
Ronaldo left Old Trafford after his last match against Arsenal on May 18 in his Bentley, stopping to sign programmes pushed through the windows by supporters when he stopped at the lights onto Sir John Gilbert Way.
Antonio Valencia drove into Old Trafford two months later in a fairly old BMW 3-series — the same one he'd been driving at Wigan. He's still not changed the three-year-old car and after just a few minutes in his company you sense that the Bentley Manchester brochures placed around reception at United's Carrington training complex are not for him.
He'd also probably have avoided the summer house move — from Warrington to Wilmslow — if he could. “I changed houses because my new place is nearer here,” he says. “If my previous house was nearer I would have stayed.”
Valencia is a reluctant occupant of the spotlight — this is his first newspaper interview since the £16m summer move — and the kind of profile Ronaldo enjoyed will not be for a player whose name elicits the same response from every Spanish-speaking journalist who has observed his development. ‘Tranquilo’ — quiet and relaxed.
But he is keen to make one point clear as he embarks on a discussion of his United story so far, which following a period of adjustment has seen him score four goals in the last 10 matches — more than he has managed in each of his three seasons at Wigan Athletic. It is that he is not at his new club to fill Ronaldo's boots.
“I am my own man,” he says immediately, when Ronaldo's name crops up. “I thought Cristiano was a very good player but I always play according to what I think and what I want to do at that particular moment and what I know. I never imitate anyone.”
The number 25 jersey has helped in this respect, he reveals — Michael Owen is welcome to the iconic 7 on his back — and it becomes clear that Ferguson just told him to blank out the Ronaldo comparisons as best he could. “He said ‘you don't have to follow Cristiano but you do have to work' — and I'm doing that,” Valencia says. “He said ‘enjoy it, enjoy Manchester. Do things well’.”
As he settles back, his unlaboured assertion complete, you begin to see why Rio Ferdinand has likened Valencia to Paul Scholes in his efforts to keep things low-key. The 24-year-old doesn't disagree with the assessment. “I like to spend time at home with my partner and my family. I never look out for a photo opportunity,” he says. “If that's what Paul Scholes is like then, yes, the comparison is correct.”
But the similarities stop there. Valencia 's road to Old Trafford has been a long and winding one, even though the last leg was a mere 20 miles down the north west motorway system.
It started out in Lago Agrio, a small town on the western side of Ecuador, where the rivers and rainforests of Ecuador's Amazon basin have been polluted by the oil industry, and the proximity of Colombia's Putumayo region — the heart of the Latin American cocaine trade — makes for a dangerous way of life amid the warring paramilitary groups and refugees fleeing the violence.
Valencia's home was also a long way from the Chota valley, the mining region which produced the few Ecuadorian players who have made it to the Premier League — Reading's Ulyses De La Cruz, Birmingham's Giavanny Espinosa. So alien was the idea of a football career that he didn't tell his father when he left home, aged 16, to an offer to play for El Nacional, the military-backed club in Quito, Ecuador's capital city, on a salary of 50 dollars a month.
“He couldn't see why I shouldn't be with the rest of the family, completing my studies but I knew I could prove something to him if I got established.”
His mother saw the possibilities and his elder brother, Carlos Alfredo, paid the fare for his eight-hour bus journey. He began life in central midfield, where he sometimes still plays for his nation.
“I guess it's good for the manager to know I can (still) play in the middle (now) if he wants to change things around during the game,” he says.
Within a year he found himself playing for Ecuador's under 20s where, alongside Christian Benitez — now with Birmingham City — he scored 17 goals in 23 matches. In March 2005 came the full international debut game most Ecuadoreans still remember him for — scoring twice in a 5-2 win over Paraguay as the nation came back from 2-0 down.
A move to Europe arrived — Villarreal in La Liga — but the Spaniards couldn't make their minds up about him. He had found himself loaned out to Recreativo Huelva in the second division before the 2006 World Cup came around and the then Wigan manager Paul Jewell, who had tuned in to scout a Polish player from the television, was instead struck by Valencia playing for the opposition.
Jewell flew out to Germany a few days later, saw Valencia play against both Costa Rica and England and hired him but it was not until Steve Bruce was Wigan's manager that a loan deal became permanent.
Bruce also dismisses those Ronaldo comparisons. “I'd say he is more like my team-mate in the early 90s, Andrei Kanchelskis,” Bruce says. “Andrei was quick, strong and able to steam past a defender. Antonio is similar. His stats at Wigan were phenomenal.”
The player's general insouciance enabled him to block out the background noise when it took him 12 games to score for United. “I was always calm and felt no pressure,” he insists. “Even if I hadn't scored a goal up to today I would still be quite happy.”
But perhaps it also helped that a childhood growing up in the rainforests made him one of the few prospective players who could not name a United player as a boy. “There was no Premiership transmission when I was a boy and it was the Italian league I watched. It was Roma and Francesco Totti. I didn't know anything about United.”
United fans awoke to his potential after he found the net twice in four days in October, at home to Bolton and on CSKA Moscow's plastic pitch, with a goal and assist in the 4-0 win at West Ham last Saturday underlining the potential.
“It's different from Wigan because here I have to play two or three times a week,” he says. “Here I have to have greater concentration and be aware that I need to play better on a regular basis.”

Antonio Valencia's improvement and Nemanja Vidic's power at setpieces were heralded after the pair put United in the comfort zone against Wolves.
The visitors worked hard to choke the champions, even after Wayne Rooney punished Ronald Zubar's handball by drilling home his 13th goal of the season from the penalty spot.
"We got a break with the penalty kick," admitted Sir Alex Ferguson on MUTV. "I think Wolves made it difficult for us with a good team effort. They tackled everywhere, they pressed the ball, and made it hard for us to get our continuity.
"It was comfortable in the end though. Vidic's goal settled us. He's probably our best threat at setpieces because he'll attack the ball bravely and his header was very good.
"There were one or two nice bits of football in the second half, including a marvellous third goal from Valencia. It was a terrific finish. Antonio's now got six goals and he can still improve on that because he's a very good finisher as we often see in training.
Elaborating on his Ecuadorian, Sir Alex added: "Antonio's improvement is tremendous. He's expansive in his game and he's expressing himself really well. We like to see young players coming here to develop. He's improving all the time and we're very pleased."
Valencia's strike was set up brilliantly by Dimitar Berbatov, who hooked the ball over his shoulder into the winger's path. Although the Bulgarian had a largely frustrating night, this flash of genius did not go unnoticed on the United bench.
"Only a player like Berbatov, with the imagination and skill he's got, could produce something like that," praised Sir Alex.

Fergie: Valencia improving fast
http://www.unitedrant.co.uk/wp-content/themes/flashnews/thumb.php?src=http://www.unitedrant.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/antonio_valencia.jpg&h=189&w=279&zc=1&q=95
Summer recruit Antonio Valencia is improving fast, says Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson. The former Wigan Athletic right-winger, recruited for more than £16 million, has now scored six times in an increasingly prosperous season. It is already the Ecuadorian’s highest scoring campaign in European football.
“Antonio is improving, there is no question about that,” said Ferguson of the winger who has appeared 19 times this season.
“He was only a quiet lad when he came but he is more expansive now and he is expressing himself on the pitch very well.
“Six goals is a decent return because we know it is an area he can do better in. Overall we are really pleased with him.”
Valencia scored United’s third goal in the club’s victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford Wednesday night, in addition to strikes against CSKA Moscow, West Ham United and Bolton Wanderers.
The unassuming 24-year-old, handed the unenviable task of replacing Cristiano Ronaldo at United, is winning over both fans and manager with increasingly influential performances for the club.

No one laughing at Manchester United's Antonio Valencia now
-mirrorfootball.co.uk-
http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/match-centre/article258617.ece/ALTERNATES/gallery-large/Antonio+Valencia.jpeg
After being sniggered at when he was bought to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, Antonio Valencia is the one laughing now.
There were more than a few funny looks when Sir Alex Ferguson chose the Ecuadorean to fill the chasm left at Manchester United by the departure of the world's best player.
But after chalking up his sixth goal with a great strike against Wolves, Valencia is proving he can fill Ronaldo's goalscoring boots.
The £16million winger has already equalled his best-ever goals haul for Wigan and is United's third-top scorer.
Ferguson set Valencia a target of 10 goals at the start of the campaign and believes he can be prolific for United.
"That's six goals for Antonio," said the United boss. "We're happy with that. We've always thought that's one area he can improve on.
"He is improving and his improvement is tremendous and this is an example of that. From the day he came he was a quiet young man, but he is expressing himself well. We like to see the young players come here and develop."
Valencia, 24, is slowly bedding in at Old Trafford and the champions have a 76 per cent win rate with him, compared to 60 per cent when he hasn't started.
He is pleased with his start to his United career and has promised fans he can keep improving.
"I only scored seven times at Wigan - and that probably included all the training sessions!" he joked.
"I'm happy with my form, sure. But I'm definitely not settling for what I've done so far. I want to improve, keep learning and achieve a lot more. Fans will see a lot more from me as we progress through the season."
Valencia's four league goals have helped United rack up 37 in their first 17 games - which is nine more than this stage last season - and Ferguson is delighted his players are answering his call to be more ruthless.
He had become alarmed by United's decreasing goals total since they banged in 83 in winning the title in 2007.
"Our scoring rate is well up on last season when we only managed 68 goals," he said. "It was enough to win the title, but we hardly blew the opposition out of the water.
"Runners-up Liverpool scored nine more, while Chelsea and Arsenal matched us with the same total.
"It's a far cry from when we won the league at the turn of the century with a tally of 97 goals, with Andrew Cole and Dwight Yorke scoring prolifically.
"Normally, we are in the high 70s and I was certainly surprised last season when we dropped so low, especially when you consider one player, Cristiano Ronaldo, scored more than a quarter of them with 18.
"A few weeks ago, I asked the players to start being more decisive with their chances, especially in the early part of a match, instead of appearing to take the relaxed view that, like buses, there will be another along in a minute.
"It seems they took my plea on board because we have been finishing a lot better lately and it brought us two good away league wins - 4-1 at Portsmouth and 4-0 at West Ham. And these have been difficult places for us in the past."
Ferguson is delighted United are breathing down Chelsea's neck and wants to be tucked in nicely in the title race when he celebrates his 68th birthday on New Year's Eve.
"It's important that we keep scoring goals because goals invariably mean points and I am anxious we make our mark this month," he said. "December is usually a rich time for us and I'm hoping this year won't be an exception.
"I would be quite content to reach New Year's Eve simply in touch with the leaders because I know we can handle a run-in."

Manchester United winger Antonio Valencia rubs salt into Wigan wounds
Antonio Valencia knew what he was signing up for when he left Wigan Athletic for Manchester United last summer.

No matter which way Manchester United attempted to spin the Ecuadorean’s £18 million arrival from the DW Stadium, Valencia’s first objective was to fill the huge void created by Cristiano Ronaldo’s £80 million transfer to Real Madrid.
In terms of impossible jobs, replacing Ronaldo at United is probably second only to the mountainous challenge facing the poor soul who replaces Sir Alex Ferguson’s in the manager’s chair at Old Trafford.
The polar opposite of the brash and flamboyant Portuguese, Valencia is also a completely different character to Ronaldo on the pitch.
Yet six months after taking on the challenge of slipping into Ronaldo’s size nines, Valencia is beginning to make his own name at Old Trafford.
He will never be the new Ronaldo, just as Teddy Sheringham could never outshine Eric Cantona, but prior to the clash with his previous employers on Wednesday night, Ferguson spoke glowingly of the 24-year-old’s progress in a United shirt.
Ferguson said: “The good thing about Valencia is that he’s as tough as boots. Really tough. He can see it out and he has great stamina and great speed.
“In a personality sense, I don’t find that he would be interested in trying to outmatch Cristiano.” Valencia has improved markedly since leaving Wigan and his former team-mates discovered that at first hand as he played the architect in their downfall.
The former Villarreal midfielder appeared inhibited by the pressure in his early appearances this season, reluctant to do anything other than the straightforward and routine.
But all that has changed. Only Patrice Evra has started more games than Valencia this season, such is the trust that Ferguson has in his summer acquisition, and the manager’s faith has injected confidence into the player.
The manner in which he tore at full-back Maynor Figueroa during United’s emphatic victory underlined his blossoming confidence.
Time and again, the Honduran was left trailing in Valencia’s wake and Valencia’s efforts proved key to United’s victory.
He had a hand in three of their first four goals, with Wayne Rooney, Michael Carrick and Dimitar Berbatov profiting from Valencia’s vision and unselfish team play.
One obvious trait in Valencia is that he always looks to pass the ball, something that could not be levelled at Ronaldo, who, for all his strengths, often infuriated his team-mates with his refusal to do anything other than shoot once he was within 40 yards of goal.
But perhaps therein lies Valencia’s weakness, the area where he can still improve his game.
His goal return so far this season of seven — including the classy chip to make it 5-0 on Wednesday night - is a career best, but Ronaldo was a consistent 20 goals a season man.
If Valencia develops Ronaldo’s selfish streak, he could become an even bigger success at Old Trafford.

STATS: Ronaldo vs Valencia
-therepublikofmancunia.com-
http://therepublikofmancunia.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/valenciaronaldo.jpg
Before we get in to this, the comparison between Cristiano Ronaldo and Antonio Valencia isn’t supposed to prove who is the better player. Ronaldo was bought for £80m the same summer Valencia was bought for £16m, it’s all to obvious who the better player is.
However, it is interesting to see how Valencia is getting on at filling Ronaldo’s boots, a task the media said would be impossible. Given that he had a scoring record of just 7 goals in 89 games at Wigan, it seemed beyond comprehension that he would be able to leave any mark on what Ronaldo had achieved with the club (just as it was unimaginable that United could challenge for the title without CR9).
In Cristiano Ronaldo’s first 26 games last season, he scored 10 goals.
Goals in the league:
2 against Stoke – 12th
2 against Hull – 17th
2 against West Ham – 9th
1 against West Brom – 20th
1 against Bolton – 13th (penalty)
Average position: 14th
Assists in the league: 2
Goals in the League Cup:
1 against Boro – 19th
1 against Derby – 18th in the Championship
In Antonio Valencia’s first 26 games, he’s scored 7 goals.
Goals in the league:
1 against Bolton – 18th
1 against Everton – 11th
1 against West Ham – 17th
1 against Wolves – 16th
1 against Wigan – 15th
Average position: 15th
Assists in the league: 5
Goals in the Champions League:
2 against CSKA Moscow
When you consider that Ronaldo had much more freedom in where he played, straying centrally for much of the season, Valencia hasn’t done too badly at all. You have to remember that this is his first season at the club after making a big step up from Wigan, and that he strictly plays on the right.
There are areas of his game that he can improve but he’s younger than Ronaldo and joined the Premier League three years later. So far, so good.
To get some perspective… Frank Lampard has scored 1 more league goal than Valencia this season, but 5 of his 6 goals have been penalties. Steven Gerrard has scored as many leage goals as Valencia this season, but 2 of his 5 have been penalties. Benayoun, Anelka and Kevin Doyle have scored as many goals as Valencia. Milner, Ashley Young, Lennon, Wright-Phillips, Duff, Deco, Steven Ireland and Ballack have all scored 2 goals or more less than Valencia.
Pretty good for a player that was written off at the start of the season.
“Most of the media looked at us losing Ronaldo and viewed it as being crucial and that we wouldn’t be nearly as good but there is only one point difference from last season,” Ferguson said before our 5-0 win over Wigan. “Cristiano was an unbelievable player. It was inevitable at some point he was going to leave. We have adjusted to it. Antonio has done well and his development has been good. The good thing about him is that he is as tough as boots and has great stamina and speed. He’s a quiet and shy boy and I don’t think with his personality he would be interested in trying to outmatch Cristiano. He has been unaffected by the position he is playing in. He enjoys that position. He can play other positions but we have not tested that yet. I know he can play centre midfield because I watched him play there and we know he can play through the middle and I have also seen that. But we think he is important to us the way we play. We like to have width in the team and he is doing that very well.”

Valencia bags rare double
Summer signing Antonio Valencia has become the first man to win back-to-back ManUtd.com Player of the Month awards for a year-and-a-half.
Player of the Month - December
1) Antonio Valencia - 45%
2) Wayne Rooney - 30%
3) Tomasz Kuszczak - 15%
4) Patrice Evra - 6%
5) Darren Fletcher - 2%
6) Michael Carrick - 2%
The Ecuadorian garnered 45 per cent of the vote to top December's poll after also taking home the November award. The last player to win consecutive POTM accolades was Carlos Tevez, in May and August 2008.
More than 12,000 fans around the world voted in our most recent poll, with nearly half (5586) naming Valencia’s contribution as the most crucial to the Reds’ December form.
The former Wigan winger added three more goals to his tally during the month, taking his total to seven. He's now scored as many in six months at Old Trafford as he did in three years at Wigan. His first of the month came in the 4-0 demolition of West Ham, where he slotted home from close range. He then put the icing on the cake by firing home the third against Wolves, while his 75th minute strike against Wigan was United’s final goal of 2009.
As well as goals, he's provided a constant threat on the Reds’ right, consistently outfoxing defenders and proving his ability to whip in an early, deadly cross.
United fans will be hoping for plenty more goals from Antonio as the business end of the season fast approaches.

dia bener2 harus ngelatih changing direction and start using his left foot.... dia bisa ngandelin stop and pace ke bek2 yang medioker, tapi kalo ke pemain kaya gael clichy and ashley cole... he's a dead meat....
tetep yakin bisa berkembang ..... \:D/
Valencia: I’m Really Enjoying My United Career
Antonio Valencia has made a great start to his United career after joining us from Wigan in the summer.
He was voted by our fans as our best performing player in November and December on the club’s official website.
Valencia has today revealed he didn’t expect to get so much playing time this early on in to his United career and sees this as just the start.
“I thought I would be used sparingly at first and then more as I settled in at the club, but as a footballer you train hard so that you’re always prepared to play,” Valencia said. “Then it’s down to the manager to make the decisions, and he has given me lots of opportunities. I’m really enjoying my United career so far, and this is just the start.”
With Valencia taking over the right wing, a position occupied by Cristiano Ronaldo in much of his time at United, people pointed to his poor scoring form for Wigan and scoffed at the idea of him doing it for United. As it is, Valencia is currently our third highest scorer in the league and has more goals this season than other rated wingers like Ashley Young, Lee Milner, Aaron Lennon and Shaun Wright-Phillips.
“I’m getting into the box more than ever before in my career,” said to explain. “I’m encouraged to get forward and there are a lot of balls coming in from the left side, so I’ve been able to get to the far post and get on the end of a few crosses.”

Manchester United winger Antonio Valencia looking forward to 'biggest games' of his career against AC Milan
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/02/12/article-0-083C5875000005DC-5_468x347.jpg
Manchester United star Antonio Valencia has admitted the European Cup clashes with AC Milan are the biggest games of his career.
The winger has been an impressive performer for United this season, as the champions chase glory at home and abroad.
United play Milan for the first time since losing to the Italian giants in the 2007 semi-finals, and Valencia said: 'They will be the biggest games I've played in club football.
'The Champions League is a huge competition and Milan are one of the biggest clubs around.
'They've won so much in their history and they've won the European Cup a lot, and it will be a big test for us.
'Every game is important, but the lads are definitely looking forward to both matches.'
United face another big month of matches, with the two clashes against Milan as well as some crucial matches in the Premier League and the Carling Cup final against Aston Villa.
Valencia told magazine Inside United: 'We've got some really big games coming up, but these are the matches you want to be playing in.
'We're ready and focused for a long run of big games with high stakes.'

hola-hola :D...
Pokonya spare the right wing for valencia :).. btw dia emang kanan sejati ya, sampe jarang pake kaki kiri :) hihihi :D

Man Utd boss Ferguson praises Valencia after West Ham win
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson hailed the influence of winger Antonio Valencia in their victory over West Ham United.
United's attack combined to score three eye-catching goals against the Hammers, with Wayne Rooney's pair of headers preceding a clinical late third goal from substitute Michael Owen.
"It (the first) was a great, exciting goal," Ferguson told MUTV. "It was a great crossfield pass, a first-time delivery from Valencia and a marvellous header from Wayne. Then Valencia played a great one-two with Dimitar and it was a marvellous cross and a good finish from Wayne.
"Then Michael did what he always does. He makes great runs between defenders. It was a nice bit of football and a really good finish. We could have scored a lot of goals in the second half."

What Antonio brings to the United side is as effective as what Ronaldo used to
Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez believes Antonio Valencia is as effective for Manchester United as Cristiano Ronaldo was for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.
The Ecuadorian winger was signed by Manchester United from Wigan Athletic in the summer for a reputed £16 million and although the Premier League champions were quick to tone down comparisons with Cristiano Ronaldo, Martinez suggests the midfielder has more than filled the boots of the current Real Madrid star.
Although Valencia has not worried the goal scoring column in the same way Ronaldo did at Old Trafford, Valencia’s debut season for Manchester United has been a major plus for Sir Alex Ferguson’s quest for an unprecedented four Premier League titles in a row, and recently he has been instrumental in Wayne Rooney’s recent glut of headed goals.
The Wigan Athletic manager told a press conference: "You will never replace like for like in terms of Cristiano Ronaldo but what Antonio brings to the United side is as effective as what Ronaldo used to do for them.”
"In Ronaldo you are talking about the most stylish player in world football.”
“He is so pleasing on the eye and you can't replace that but Antonio is as effective as Ronaldo in a very different way. Look at the way he has contributed this season.”
"Tactically he has really developed his game in the short time he has been at United - his knowledge is now on a different level and he has stepped up his game in a big way.”
"From an early age he has looked after himself on the pitch. For instance he was playing for Villarreal and Ecuador from a young age. Once he is on the pitch he is very arrogant in the right way.”
“He is a great professional, he is a real team player."

Valencia - I'm no Ronaldo
United winger insists he is not a 'superstar'
http://img.skysports.com/10/03/218x298/Antonio-Valenica-Carling-Cup_2427586.jpg
Antonio Valencia has brushed off the recent comparisons between himself and former Manchester United ace Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Ecuador winger, who moved to Old Trafford after the sale of Ronaldo to Real Madrid in the summer, has been in sparkling form recently.
His performance in the Carling Cup final landed him the man of the match award as he set up the winning goal for Wayne Rooney.
But while some say his displays have been reminiscent of Ronaldo's time at United, Valencia insists that the comparisons are not warranted.
"Cristiano is a superstar and I'm Valencia, a footballer learning each day," he told The Sun.
"I don't desire comparisons with him as we are different players. And while I'm happy with my work in the team, I know every day I must fight for my place.
"It's not easy to get into this starting XI here - but this is my challenge."
Confidence
The former Wigan wide-man said his Carling Cup final man of the match award was not warranted, instead diverting the praise towards his team-mates.
However, the 24-year-old does think that he is currently in the best form of his career, something he believes is down to the confidence of United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
"I'm enjoying my best moments as a pro. I always dreamed of being at a big club and to win titles. Now I can fulfil those dreams at United," Valencia said.
"Sincerely, I didn't deserve to be man of the match in the Carling Cup final as the success was down to all the team.
"But that day will always be in my head. I'm very happy.
He added: "I'm here because of Mr Ferguson. The coach insisted he wanted me and that came as a surprise to me.
"From the first moment I joined, he was clear with me. He explained why United needed me.
"The key to my good form is I receive the coach's confidence.
"From afar the image of Mr Ferguson appears different to the one that actually exists.
"Some people believe that he does not connect with the players but, really, he is very open and gives you a chance."

Valencia: Aku tak Sehebat Ronaldo!
http://www.kompas.com/data/photo/2009/10/17/2157372p.jpg
MANCHESTER, KOMPAS.com - Gelandang Manchester United (MU), Antonio Valencia, merasa dirinya tidaklah sehebat mantan bintang "Setan Merah", Cristiano Ronaldo.
(SUN)

Solskjaer: Valencia Mirip Beckham
Defanie Arianti - Okezone
http://i.okezone.com/content/2010/03/09/45/310851/XEISQgpdOp.jpg-pv0da39ac76627cdc4
MANCHESTER - Performa gemilang Antonio Valencia bersama Manchester United menuai pujian banyak pihak.
Menurut Wazza -panggilan Rooney-, Valencia menjadi faktor penting kesuksesannya mengemas 28 gol sepanjang musim 2009/2010.
versi aslinya.... gak salah klo gw jg berharap dia jadi starter terus match2 penting....:muflag:
bener kata Rooney... palagi yg melihat 1st leg vs Milan... dimana raut muka Rooney yg "gelap" karena umpan Nani yg selalu "ngacau" berubah 180 derajat sejak Vale masuk... dan tentunya dengan umpan2 manjanya...:muflag:
Ole - Valencia's a dream
OLD Trafford can look forward to some special deliveries tomorrow night.
The Reds welcome back David Beckham 'home' and if the United legend plays for AC Milan you can be sure some trademark deliveries to service Ronaldinho and Co.
After the six-year Cristiano Ronaldo era, Sir Alex Ferguson has installed the nearest thing since Beckham to uncomplicated right winger in the shape of Antonio Valencia.
Ronaldo stepped into Beckham's boots in 2003 when the England star switched to Real Madrid.
It was a special period, with the Portuguese wizard producing many moments of majesty and a phenomenal goalscoring record.
But his time in the number seven shirt was different to that of Becks' pinpoint crosses and the assured service for Reds strikers like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Andy Cole, Teddy Sheringham and Dwight York.
Beckham's last time in action at Old Trafford for United saw him score and he was instrumental in one of Van Nistelrooy's hat-trick goals against Charlton in a May 2003 4-1 win.
Dream
Now Fergie has revived the unfussy art of the right winger in Valencia. The £16m Ecuadorian, bought from Wigan last summer, has been the source of the bulk of Wayne Rooney's headed goals in recent weeks.
Rooney remains doubtful for the last-16 second-leg clash against the Italians but the Valencia factor can still play an important role for the Reds.
Solskjaer profited from the Beckham link for seven seasons and United's reserve boss believes Valencia has the weaponry to recreate that service on a consistent basis.
"Antonio is a striker's dream. He is also a manager's dream," Solskjaer told M.E.N. Sport.
"He works hard and he does his bit defensively. He doesn't just do the flash bits. He keeps the team shape when he doesn't have the ball and attempts to win it back.
"He has something special because he has pace and he has a delivery. I can understand the comparisons between Becks' service and what Antonio is providing now. The work ethic of both players is the same. Their first thought is to put in a dangerous effort for the strikers to feed off.
"Just like with David, you know when Antonio is going to cross the ball. He doesn't dilly-dally, as soon as he can, he is going to cross it. He puts his head down and you know it is going to come in.
"It is just what you want. You can get that half-second ahead of a defender because you can make your move early knowing the virtually where the ball is going to end up. It gives you a great advantage.
"Wayne Rooney will be experiencing that now. You get a little feeling about where the ball is going to go. You get to know your team-mates and you know what they will do when the get the ball. Wayne knows exactly what Antonio's first thoughts will be.
Strong
"Wayne has been hitting it off with Antonio recently. And whoever has been up front will know that they can expect a ball in that will cause defences problems and you give an edge.
"As a striker you want to find space. That is your best friend in the box. So to find that space you have to have an understanding with those putting the crosses in. You have to have a strong inkling about what they will do.
"When I played with Becks I knew him inside out. I knew when he got the ball his first idea was to put the ball in the vicinity of whoever was playing up front.
"Becks didn't think about doing something special for the crowd. He just wanted to deliver the ball in efficiently and for one of us to score a goal. So many of my goals came from an assist from him.
"That is just what Antonio is doing now. It is great to see him finding his feet here and Wayne more than anyone is benefiting.
"Wayne has always been a team player. But now he can see that we need goals. As a striker you smell goals and he is maturing into a goalscorer."
Though Beckham is now close to 35 and had a quiet match in the first leg, Solskjaer warns he could still produce something at Old Trafford to threaten United's Champions League quarter-final place.
"Becks is always a danger. He will be massive threat tomorrow," added Solskjaer.
"In open play you know he is going to get four or five chances in a match to put a great cross in. If you have a striker who is alive then there is danger."

Antonio Valencia doesn't wear the iconic No 7 shirt but he has filled Cristiano Ronaldo's boots brilliantly
1 His full name is Luis Antonio Valencia Mosquera. His nickname Tono Maravilla means ‘The Marvel Tono’. The moniker was given to him by Orlando Narvaez, a coach from his first club El Nacional, who also gave Birmingham’s Christian Benitez his nickname ‘Chucho’.
2 Valencia was born on August 4, 1985, in Nueva Loja, aka Lago Agrio, the largest residential area in the Amazonian jungle in Ecuador. It was founded in the 1960s as a base camp for Texaco, who still extract oil from the region.
3 The Valencia family sold drinks outside Lago Agrio’s Carlos Vernaza stadium near their bungalow in the district of Guayaquil. The young Valencia, one of seven children — six sons and a daughter — helped by trawling the streets for discarded bottles that his father sold to a bottle-deposit company.
4 Pedro ‘Papi’ Perlaza, once of Barcelona, spotted the slim young boy playing barefoot on a dusty field near his home. The kid was raw but had obvious natural talent and Perlaza loved the way he effortlessly won possession on the scorched ground. By coincidence, Perlaza had been asked to run a football academy in Sucumbios to find the best youngsters in the region. He signed Valencia that afternoon and spent four years improving his skills on pitches often flooded by monsoon rains.
5 Perlaza said: ‘He was a great player and very strong, although his brother Edder was in even better condition. But Luis Antonio has always been disciplined and wanted glory. I always said he was going to be a pro footballer but, at first, Antonio had no pressure hitting the ball. But patience and dedication paid off. I remember we would put 14 balls in a line and make him hit seven dishes in the goal without a goalkeeper. This work paid off.’
6 The pair lost contact, but when Valencia returned to Lago Agrio in July and played in a charity match with the many graduates who have been nurtured by ‘The Daddy’, he invited Perlaza to an international match in Quito. Valencia met Perlaza and talked for hours. Valencia arranged to send equipment to his mentor’s latest football school in Esmeraldas.
7 At 16, Valencia moved to Quito and joined the army club Club Deportivo El Nacional on a monthly salary of £34. Within a year, he was fast-tracked into the Under 20s, where he played alongside Birmingham striker Christian ‘Chucho’ Benitez and scored 20 goals in 84 matches.
8 Valencia’s idol was Edison Mendez, now a winger with PSV Eindhoven. He made his El Nacional debut in the same team as his hero and the pair still play for the national team together, operating on opposite flanks. Valencia has 34 international caps.
9 The young Valencia moved to the barracks in the capital without his father’s knowledge. His mother packed his suitcase and sent him on a bus. ‘We thought he [his father] would never say yes because he wanted me to stay with the family and finish my studies,’ said Valencia. ‘He was looking around the house asking where I was. Eventually, they plucked up the courage to tell him after two days and when he calmed down he realised it was for the best. I was in tears when I went. It was so young to be leaving home.’
10 His girlfriend Zoila gave birth to Domenik during the 2006 World Cup finals. His daughter’s name is tattooed on the inside of his right arm.:hugs:
11 Valencia made his debut for Ecuador in March 2005 and scored twice in a 5-2 win over Paraguay which sealed qualification to the World Cup in Germany. That summer he joined Villarreal with Argentine goalkeeper Mariano Barbosa.
12 He made just two appearances for the Spanish club, ironically struggling to settle because of the large numbers of Argentines at the club. He was farmed out to second division Recreativo Huelva and helped them to promotion.
13 So impressive was Valencia’s performances at the 2006 World Cup, he was in the running for young player of the tournament with Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and eventual winner Lukas Podolski. He was also spotted by Wigan boss Paul Jewell.
14 Paul Jewell: ‘I was scouting for Wigan at Poland v Ecuador and I thought I might see some Poles of interest — when you’re manager of Wigan you don’t expect to be scouting Ecuadoreans. But Ecuador won 2-0 and there was one player who stood out — Valencia. I liked his reading of the game. I was surprised he was only 20. His game was much more mature.’
15 Wigan paid Villarreal a £1.5million loan fee and he signed for one season. ‘He arrived on a Friday and we had a pre-season friendly on the Saturday,’ said Jewell. ‘Without having trained, he came on for 20 minutes and straight away the lads could see he was a player. And I liked him, we all did, he always came in smiling.’
16 Another mentor in his early days in England was Ulises de la Cruz, the former Aston Villa and Reading full back who was the trailblazer for Ecuadoreans in the Premier League. The pair used to speak up to three times a week. ‘He was invaluable,’ said Valencia.
17 When he first came to Europe, Valencia’s young family were still home in Ecuador. Jewell said: ‘He could easily have buckled but there was no moping in a hotel. Antonio, though his English was minimal, quickly got a house and a car. That self-reliance, which can be rare, impressed me.’
18 He used to attend English lessons with Hondurans Maynor Figueroa and Wilson Palacios before the latter’s move to Spurs. Manchester City’s Felipe Caicedo and Segundo Castillo of Everton joined them but Valencia still struggles with English and his written Spanish is limited. Steve Bruce, who inherited Valencia at Wigan, said: ‘He struggled with it, but it didn’t matter. You knew you could just put him on the pitch and he would pick it up.’
19 His loan period was extended into the following season before Wigan signed him on a three-and-a-half-year contract in January 2008.
20 Steve Bruce said: ‘He was the first one I made permanent when I took over as manager at Wigan. He was a very good player, a great kid, wonderful professional and tough as old nails. He has great pace and has added goalscoring to that at United, which he needed to add to his armoury. He was a delight to manage because he just gets on with his football and adores his family. He’s a great lad.’
21 He meets regularly with ‘Chucho’ Benitez. Their friendship goes back to their teenage days together lining up for daily inspections in their army barracks. Benitez said: ‘I remember one day a trainer advised us to eat pasta and a lot of iron to keep fit, but Tono misunderstood. In South America pasta means sauce and it is also what they call toothpaste. The next day I find Valencia tucking in to a tube of Colgate.’
22 He scored seven goals in 83 appearances for Wigan and was particularly outstanding at Old Trafford in his side’s 2-0 defeat. But Manchester United were already on the case. Bruce said: ‘When the big boys are sniffing around every manager dreads getting the call. You know then what is going to happen.’
23 Dave Whelan (chairman of Wigan) said: ‘If every footballer was like Antonio, life would be wonderful. He is a quiet, clean-living, well-mannered young gentleman. When United and Real Madrid came in for him I told him straightaway. I promised all the South American lads that I would keep them informed when the big clubs came in. I did the same with Wilson Palacios. Real Madrid offered us more money but I advised him to go to United because I knew Sir Alex would look after him.’
24 Bruce is convinced he will be a hit for years at United. He said: ‘If you look at him he is a great age with 100 games under his belt. The big question was, could he make the step up to Manchester United and I think he has proved that he was ready.’
25 And Fergie? Sir Alex Ferguson is unstinting in his praise for Valencia. ‘He’s got great balance, power and speed,’ said the Scot. ‘He’s immediately taken to the challenge well and with purpose. We’re very pleased with what we’ve seen.’

Ferguson Semakin Percaya Valencia
Fitra Iskandar - Okezone
(fit)

Antonio Valencia ankle injury 'could end his season' - Sir Alex Ferguson
-metro.co.uk-
http://img.metro.co.uk/i/pix/2010/09/14/article-1284498426040-0B3046CD000005DC-822562_636x449.jpg
Sir Alex Ferguson has said the ankle injury that saw Antonio Valencia stretchered off in the Champions League against Rangers will keep him out 'for a long time' - raising fears he will not play again this season.
The winger was given gas and air as he was carried off at Old Trafford on Tuesday, having received treatment on the pitch for several minutes.
He was given a standing ovation from both sets of supporters as he left during the 0-0 draw before being taken off in an ambulance.
And afterwards Ferguson said the injury was a serious one, which could keep him out of action for several months.
"He seemed to dig his toe in the turf," Ferguson lamented.
"As soon as I saw the Rangers player waving to the bench I knew it was a bad one."
He continued: "He's gone to hospital and it looks like a dislocation and a fracture.
"It's a bad one and it'll keep him out for a long time."
The injury looks to be similar to the one suffered by Fulham striker Bobby Zamora against Wolves on Saturday, which is also likely to keep him out until well into 2011.

Engkel Antonio Valencia Patah !
(sun/lex)

Ferguson: Valencia Harus Operasi
(far)

Antonio Valencia will recover from horrific ankle injury, insist Manchester United
Manchester United have tipped Antonio Valencia to bounce back next season from his horror injury.
The Ecuador winger will miss the rest of the campaign after suffering a sickening broken ankle against Rangers on Tuesday night.
Valencia was carried off on a stretcher - aided with an oxygen mask to combat the horrific pain - after catching his studs in the Old Trafford turf.
Darren Fletcher, who was on field with Valencia when the accident happened on the hour mark, says Valencia will return even stronger after his long lay-off.
He said: It looked really bad. Hopefully the scans show it is not as bad as we fear. 'After arriving from Wigan he had a great first season and was looking to push on this year. That is why the injury is a real blow.
'He has only just got back from the injury he suffered at the end of last season too. He is a strong character and a good lad. He has real determination and works hard. He will be back I am sure. He will have a long future at Manchester United.'
Valencia will have an operation in hospital to reset his dislocated and fractured left ankle.
Ecuador national team doctor Patricio Maldonado has been kept informed about the injury and said: 'It is a double fracture to the tibia and fibula in his left ankle. He will be operated on.'
The Ecuadorians expect Valencia to be sidelined for at least five to six months, which would give him a chance of playing again before the end of the season and the Copa America next summer.
The weight-bearing tibia meets the more slender fibula at the ankle and both are often broken in serious ankle injuries.
Hector Bohorquez, another member of Ecuador's medical staff, said Valencia would need psychological as well as physical support. He added: 'This type injury has a huge impact on athletes who see how their bones have become detached. He must be continuously supported.'
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has already admitted he does not expect Valencia to be available for the remainder of the season and likened the injury to that which Alan Smith suffered in similarly freakish circumstances against Liverpool in 2006. Smith has not been the same player since.
Ferguson said:'Ferguson said: 'It looks like a dislocation and fracture. That's a bad one. It will keep him out for a long time. He seemed to catch his toe in the turf and we knew straight away it was a bad one from the way the Rangers player started to wave.'
Aside from the injury itself and Valencia's recovery time, it leaves Ferguson with a problem so soon after the transfer window closed.
With games beginning to pile up, starting with Sunday's clash against Liverpool, United are left with only three orthodox wingers, one of whom is the largely untested Gabriel Obertan and another, Ryan Giggs, who cannot be expected to feature in every game just two months short of his 37th birthday.
Park Ji-sung, Javier Hernandez and even Fletcher himself are capable of operating in that area but are not natural wide-men, with so much now resting on Nani if United are to keep pace with Premier League title favourites Chelsea, having already fallen four points off the pace.

Dukungan Fletcher buat Valencia
Okdwitya Karina Sari - detiksport

"Dia terlihat sangat parah.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson makes 9am dash to crocked Antonio Valencia's hospital bedside
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/09/15/article-0-0B3046D5000005DC-613_468x286.jpg
Sir Alex Ferguson was at Antonio Valencia’s hospital bedside by 9am yesterday to reassure the Manchester United winger that he still has a future in football.
Valencia was operated on later in the day in Manchester after suffering a horrific double-break and dislocation of the left ankle during the Champions League goalless draw with Rangers at Old Trafford on Tuesday.
Although the Ecuador international faces a struggle to play again this season, Ferguson told him he will make a recovery.
A friend of Valencia told Sportsmail: ‘Antonio is devastated and finding it hard to come to terms with what has happened.
‘But it cheered him up that Sir Alex came in to see him. He really appreciated that.’
Doctors examining Valencia, 25, were pleased that both breaks were ‘clean’ and they were due to be pinned. Ecuador national team doctor Patricio Maldonado has been kept informed about the injury and said: ‘It is a double fracture to the tibia and fibula in his left ankle.
'We think he will be out for five or six months.’
If that prognosis is correct, Valencia could play by the end of the season. Hector Bohorquez, another member of Ecuador’s medical staff, said Valencia would need psychological as well as physical support.
Valencia went down in the second half after a seemingly innocuous incident involving Rangers full back Kirk Broadfoot.
‘I’m not too sure what happened,’ Broadfoot said.
‘I just slid in and looked round and his bone was sticking out. You don’t like to see that.’
Wayne Rooney will be assessed by United physios today after turning his ankle in Tuesday’s game and is a slight doubt for United’s Barclays Premier League game at home to Liverpool on Sunday.

Simpati Smith untuk Valencia
Dewi - Okezone
(wei)

United have confirmed that Antonio Valencia's ankle operation was successful.
The Ecuadorian winger was stretchered off during the Reds' Champions League draw with Rangers on Tuesday after dislocating and fracturing his left ankle.
Valencia is likely to be out of action for a while, but remains in good spirits.
"The operation went well," a club spokesperson told ManUtd.com.
"A plate has been inserted to stabilise the fracture but there is obvious significant ligament damage that follows a dislocation and he will be out for a good portion of the season.
"Contrary to recent reports there has been no official contact from the Ecuadorian national team. Antonio is perfectly fine, very positive and very determined."

Valencia's welcome boost
Antonio Valencia could return to action as early as February, according to Sir Alex.
A statement released by the club on Thursday said the Ecuador winger, who dislocated and fractured his ankle against Rangers on Tuesday night, was likely to miss “a good portion of the season”.
Given Alan Smith took seven months to return after suffering a similar injury at Liverpool in February 2006 many assumed Valencia would return in April or May.
But the manager confirmed on Friday morning that the prognosis was better than first expected.
“Antonio had his operation and it was successful,” he said. “The break was clean and we were delighted to announce that. It was a major concern for us at the time.
“There’s ligament damage but we’re looking at the end of February, which is better than we thought on Tuesday night. He’s a strong boy and he’s very positive about it – being positive helps in these situations.”

VIDEO: Chucho Pays Tribute To Tony
SEPTEMBER 20, 2010
Christian Benitez, also known as Chucho, spent last season on loan at Birmingham City. He made his début at Old Trafford and forced a great save from Ben Foster in a game United won 1-0. His first goal for Birmingham was in their 2-2 draw at Anfield against Liverpool but when his loan deal ended in the summer he returned to Santos Laguna.
This weekend, he scored a 93rd minute winner against Necaxa in the Primera División de México game, putting them 2nd in the league.
So, why am I telling you this? Well, after scoring the goal, Chucho ran to collect a t-shirt with a message for his International team mate, Antonio Valencia, urging him to return “help of God.”

Determined Antonio Valencia could make February Manchester United return
November 07, 2010 | ImScouting
Manchester United winger Antonio Valencia is on course to make a return earlier than expected in February, having suffered a broken ankle in September.
Valencia broke and dislocated his ankle during Manchester United ’s Champions League opener against Glasgow Rangers and it was initially thought he would be out for the season.
The 25-year-old moved to Old Trafford from Wigan last summer and enjoyed a good first season at Manchester United , scoring seven goals and contributing eleven assists.
According to the Mail on Sunday, Valencia has chosen to undergo two grueling rehabilitation sessions a day, rather than return to Ecuador for a family visit.
They quote a Manchester United club source, saying "Valencia’s attitude has really impressed everyone.
"He could have gone home but he has put his recovery and the club before anything else.
"He is working extremely hard and believes he could be playing again as soon as mid-February."

EKSKLUSIF: Januari, Valencia Bisa Perkuat United
Padahal, Valencia diperkirakan absen sampai akhir musim akibat cedera retak tulang engkel.

NASA Help United
November 30, 2010 8 Comments | ROM
It is the reaction of the nearby players which usually tells you how serious an injury is. When Ruud van Nistelrooy started throwing up after seeing Alan Smith on the ground at Anfield 4 years ago, we had a good indication something was seriously wrong!
Against Rangers, Kirk Broadfoot was waving wildly at the bench after Valencia went to ground. From then you knew something was broken.
After the game, Sir Alex Ferguson said we might be facing the season without Valencia.
“It is a bad blow for the boy,” he said. “It is similar to the injury Alan Smith got and you are talking about the rest of the season.”
However, at Carringoton, Valencia has made cracking progress while working on an underwater treadmill, which was initially designed by NASA to replicate the sense of weightlessness in space, and further rehabilitation in Carrington’s hydrotherapy pools.
There is talk of the winger coming back in January now and will be selected for the next Champions League squad for post group stage games.

Antonio Valencia targets Copa America as he bids to return to Manchester United team by February
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/11/06/article-0-06DC502D000005DC-748_468x304.jpg
Antonio Valencia has no intention of taking it easy when he gets back from a career-threatening ankle injury in 2011.
The Manchester United winger has progressed well since breaking and dislocating his left ankle back in September and could return to action in February.
And the 25-year-old has no intention of following the example of some of South America’s biggest stars by sitting out the Copa America in July.
Ecuador have been drawn in a tasty group with Brazil, Paraguay and Venezuela for a tournament that is an important prelude to the World Cup qualifers starting in the autumn.
‘The Copa America will bw a test for everyone and I hope to bring joy to my country,’ said the 25-year-old.
‘The injury was very hard. To see the ankle twisted was shocking, but that’s football. Today things are going well and I’m grateful to everyone who has supported me.’
Brazil stars Kaka and Ronaldinho were among the players who dodged the 2007 Copa America under pressure from their clubs after long seasons in Europe.
Sir Alex Ferguson let midfielder Anderson go to the tournament shortly after he had signed from Porto and Gabriel Heinze took part shortly before clinching a move to Real Madrid.

Valencia on course
Antonio Valencia will hopefully be back in training in 5-6 weeks. Deseamos que vuelva al equipo cuanto antes / We hope he's back in the squad as soon as possible
Antonio Valencia is making good progress in his rehabilitation from a fractured ankle and damaged ligaments and could be back in training in 5-6 weeks, with a return to action as early as the end of February.
The 25-year-old winger sustained his injury after an innocuous-looking challenge from Rangers’ Kirk Broadfoot in the Champions League back in September.
It was initially feared that the Ecuadorian international, who was so good for the Reds in his debut season after joining from Wigan, might miss the entire season. But that prognosis was re-evaluated after surgery and he looks to be on target to complete his recovery in just over five months.
“Antonio is making progress exactly as we thought he would,” Sir Alex revealed. “It’s always difficult when you’re talking about long-term injuries because you can be weeks out either way. But we’re certainly looking at the end of February or beginning of March.
"He should be back in training in five or six weeks. But given the extended period of time he’s been out, we’ll give him time to get back into the full flow of things.”

Valencia Bisa Tampil Februari

Valencia Comeback Akhir Februari
Mohammad Resha Pratama - detiksport
http://images.detik.com/content/2011/01/21/72/valencia-i.jpg

See you soon Vale...

Manchester United boosted by Antonio Valencia's return to training
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/02/15/article-1357160-06147165000005DC-292_468x346.jpg
Manchester United's title hopes have been handed a boost with the return to the training field of winger Antonio Valencia.
The Ecuadorian has been sidelined for more than five months after suffering a serious injury in a Champions League clash with Rangers.
The broken ankle and ligament damage bought to an end an outstanding year for Valencia following his £17million move from Wigan in 2009.
And with Sir Alex Ferguson now facing up to a month without Ji-sung Park, who was ruled out for up to a month, the step up in rehabilitation of one of his most dangerous wide man is welcome news.
'The good news is that Valencia started training with the Reserves on Saturday,' said the United boss. 'So he’s on his way back and that will be a real boost to have him available for the run-in.'
There a suggestion in January that Valencia might return to action between United's two-legged Champions League clash with Marseille at the end of the month.
'He has started his running programme and is with the physios every day, which is a big step forward,' Ferguson said almost four weeks ahgo. 'Possibly he should be back in the first-team squad towards the end of February.
However the club's official website today claimed sometime in March would be much more realistic.

Fergie Sambut Kesembuhan Valencia
Kabar manis menghampiri Manchester United.
"Semua pemain cocok dengannya.

Nani: Kembalinya Valencia Akan Bangkitkan United

Valencia back for Utd title run-in
By PHIL THOMAS
ANTONIO VALENCIA is set to boost Manchester United's title charge after coming through the latest stage of his comeback.
And the timing could not be better, with the Premier League leaders likely to be without Nani, crocked by Jamie Carragher at Liverpool on Sunday, for up to a month.
Ecuador winger Valencia, 25, has not played since breaking his left ankle in September's Champions League clash with Rangers.
He was initially expected to miss the rest of the season but on Monday he came through a specially-arranged training game with a mixture of reserves and youngsters.
And yesterday he joined in with the rest of the first-team squad at Carrington. Meanwhile, top scorer Dimitar Berbatov admits he is having to fight the demons of doubt.
The 20-goal Bulgarian striker has not found the net since January 25 and only started two of the last six games. He said: "Sometimes you don't play well or don't score and in those times the pressure comes from all around you, as well as from yourself."
Chief executive David Gill yesterday backed the Glazer family - the club's under-fire owners - and told a Department of Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee hearing into 'Football Governance' they had, in fact, spent MORE money on players in their five years than in the previous five.

Valencia Nearing Comeback, As Nani Sidelined
10/03/2011
http://www.united-latest.com/uploads/1/9/5/6/1956984/1388785.jpg?301
Antonio Valencia is not expected to feature in United's FA Cup Quarter-Final with Arsenal at Old Trafford on Saturday, but is set to take-up a spot on the bench following his recovery from an ankle injury. However, Luis Nani will miss 10-14 days for The Red Devils after his left-leg was damaged in a treacherous tackle by Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher...
Valencia fractured and dislocated his left ankle in a collision when playing against Glasgow Rangers in September. Diagnostics were instantly gloomy, and since his injury - Valencia has not played a single senior game for United. The 25-year-old Ecuadorian played a full 30 minutes in a training match with The Red's Reserves on Monday, and is prepared to take-up a position on the substitutes bench - although he is not expected to be played.
Nani will miss up to 2 weeks for United following an injury that cut directly to his bone, courtesy of Jamie Carragher in The Red's 3-1 loss at Anfield. The 24-year-old Portuguese winger will therefore miss games against Arsenal, Marseille and Bolton Wanderers, which fall in The FA Cup, the Champions League and the Premier League respectively.
Valencia could make a start against Bolton on Saturday, 19th of this month, while Nani should return to action against West Ham United on Saturday, 2nd April. Meanwhile, Rio Ferdinand, Jonny Evans, Michael Owen, Oliveira Anderson and Ji-Sung Park will all return in the coming weeks.

Ferguson Tak Sabar Tunggu Valencia
"Ia bermain fantastis musim lalu, benar-benar brilian.

Nggak sabar nunggu Valencia.

Kini, Ferguson tengah pusing memikirkan skuad United.
