A Derby Is All About Supporters’ Pride And Bragging Rights
http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_l0qu6pksgs1qadnaj.jpg
Sir Alex Ferguson reckons it is going to be very difficult for Manchester United to win the league, but he recognises that the Reds have to win the derby next Saturday against Manchester City - for the fans.
“City is a derby game, so that takes away the issue of chasing the league. It’s a derby, it’s its own entity, and is all about supporters’ pride and bragging rights for the next few months. It’s a game we’re looking forward to.”

You Mean City? Hahahaha No!
Sid Lowe: So, who is your favourite English football team?
Dani Alves: [In English] Is a good question… in this moment Manchester…
Sid Lowe: You mean City, right?
Dani Alves: That’s the one. Hahahaha! No. Manchester United.

Papers: Noisy neighbours return
12/04/2010 08:12
Bring on United
Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha roared 'Bring on United' after helping his team continue their blistering run of form. Roberto Mancini's men took their tally to an amazing 14 goals in three matches by demolishing Birmingham 5-1. And they are in ominous form to strike another blow to their neighbours' title hopes in the eagerly-anticipated derby on Saturday. The defender said: "We're confident going into the derby. We're winning games and scoring goals so we should have a good chance. You know what derby games are like, anything can happen, but hopefully it'll be our day." Boss Mancini admits he will be just as happy with a single-goal victory over Alex Ferguson's stuttering champs. The Italian said: "We will look forward to that game with United but we used up a lot of energy here so we will recover and then think about the game against them. We have respect for them because they are an important team, but we want to win for our position. It's impossible to continue to score three or four goals in the next games. We'll try, but if we win 1-0 I'll be very happy. In the next five games that would be good for us."
Martin Blackburn, The Sun
Of course, there's plenty of reaction to United's 0-0 draw at Blackburn on Sunday, with many papers claiming United have blown the chance to secure a fourth consecutive league title. In The Telegraph, Kevin Garside concedes it will be difficult, but resists the urge (unlike so many others) to slip into sensationalism: "Just as Bayern Munich's Champions League advance does not make them the Barcelona of the Bundesliga," he writes, "so Sunday's draw at Ewood Park and the European exit does not establish the downgrading of United. This has been a season of transition at Old Trafford. United are not without concerns but none that are anywhere near terminal."

Sir Alex Ferguson targets derby with Manchester City to revive Manchester United's flagging title hopes
Local battle could provide welcome boost...
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is looking forward to facing Manchester City at Eastlands next week and believes that the passionate nature of the encounter will help his players relax as their nerve-shredding battle for the Premier League title race continues.
United drew 0-0 with Blackburn Rovers at the weekend, losing ground to top-flight leaders Chelsea in the process.
The pressure is sure to continue to mount ahead of next week's derby but Ferguson thinks that the occasion may well work on his team's favour.
"It's a derby game that takes away the business of chasing the League," said the Scot, according to The Manchester Evening News.
"It is a different kind of game. It's all about the pride of the supporters."
United could be without Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand for the game against Roberto Mancini's side, the pair having picked up hamstring and groin strains respectively at Ewood Park.
Wayne Rooney is set to return from a knee injury, though, as United look to avoid finally losing their grip on the title at the home of their neighbours.

'Setan Merah' Juga Diganggu Cedera
Rossi Finza Noor - detiksport

Manchester - Sudah jatuh tertimpa tangga pula.

Langkah MU Bisa Makin Berat
Rossi Finza Noor - detiksport
http://www.detiksport.com/images/content/2010/04/12/72/MUwasitReuters-isi.jpg
Manchester - Manchester United membuang kesempatan untuk bisa memimpin klasemen Liga Inggris akhir pekan lalu. Kini langkah The Red Devils diprediksi bisa kian berat.
"Memenangi liga kini jadi amat sangat sulit.

Fergie targets derby day
http://m.gmgrd.co.uk/res/230.$plit/C_71_article_1210358_image_list_image_list_item_0_ image.jpg?12%2F04%2F2010%2007%3A57%3A07%3A795
Sir Alex Ferguson has targeted Saturday's derby as a last chance to save Manchester United's season.
The Premier League champions all but surrendered their crown to Chelsea after a goalless draw with Blackburn on Sunday - and Fergie knows that only victory against City will give his side any hope of a record fourth successive title.
Chelsea are now a point clear at the top of the table and could stretch their lead to four with victory against Bolton on Tuesday. But having seen the Carling Cup semi-final double-header against City reignite United's campaign at the turn of the year, the Reds boss hopes another derby success can re-galvanise his side once again.
"It's a derby game that takes away the business of chasing the League," said Ferguson. "It is a different kind of game. It's all about the pride of the supporters."
Defeat to City is unthinkable for United after a miserable spring has seen them crash out of the Champions League, hit the skids in the race for the title and lose 34-goal top scorer, Wayne Rooney to an ankle injury.
Ferguson is desperate to get the England striker back for Saturday's showdown at Eastlands, where only three points will keep their season alive.
Should City be the ones to drive the final nail in the coffin of their title hopes, while also propelling themselves forward in their bid for Champions League qualification, it would be a nightmare end to United's campaign.
To make matters worse the Reds could be without Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs, who both picked up injuries against Blackburn. Ferdinand strained his groin, while Giggs pulled a hamstring, making them doubtful for the trip to Eastlands.
Rooney, however, is expected to be back after aggravating his ankle injury against Bayern last week.

GGMU !!!

Fergie: Derby Untuk Bangkit
bolanews.com
http://www.bolanews.com/thumbnail.php?file=Sir_Alex_Ferguson_230620195.jpg&size=article_medium

RIO FERDINAND: CARLOS TEVEZ IS THE ONE MANCHESTER UNITED FEAR
RIO Ferdinand says Carlos Tevez is a low-key trainer – but a high-octane performer on the pitch.
And Manchester United defender Ferdinand will be ready for a tough test at Manchester City on Saturday, providing he is fit for the derby.
Ferdinand, who struggled through the last 10 minutes at Blackburn on Sunday with a groin problem, said of former United team-mate Tevez: “Carlos is an interesting character.
“When he was at United he saved all his energy for the games. He didn’t really go over the top at training.
“He’d do his work in the gym – he was a professional in that sense – but everything he did was geared towards the match.”
Tevez has geared himself up so well since joining City last summer that he has already hit 28 goals and is on a hot streak of six in the last three matches.
Ferdinand knows United will have their hands full at Eastlands. “You could see him conserving his energy during the week and then laying it all on the line out on the pitch,” Ferdinand told United Magazine.
“That’s not the way I operate. I have to train at a high level every day, but it works for Carlos and he can be a real handful.
“He’s a top player and he’s doing very well at City.”
United are hoping Wayne Rooney will have recovered from his ankle injury to join Ferdinand for a match they must win in order to retain any interest in the title race.
If 34-goal Rooney doesn’t make it, the pressure will be cranked up on Dimitar Berbatov to deliver.
In a thinly-disguised dig at the £30.75m record signing, assistant manager Mike Phelan said: “Wayne’s having an exceptional season and we can’t get away from that fact, but this is Manchester United with a lot of other quality players in the squad.
“At times, you are going to miss people. When that happens, other people have to come to the front. They have to show the calibre that brought them to the club in the first place.”
Berbatov, signed amidst much bitterness with Spurs on deadline day 2008, has scored only 12 goals this season and 26 in total.
Ferdinand, if he makes it, will be hoping he doesn’t need rescuing again. In September Michael Owen scored the last-gasp goal in United’s 4-3 win after the centre-back’s error let in Craig Bellamy to make it 3-3.
“It was a real ‘phew’ moment,” said Ferdinand. “In the dressing room the lads were bouncing around going crazy, but I was just depressed, sitting there thinking about how lucky I had been.
“I hate making errors, especially in games of that magnitude. I think it is fair to say I avoided a rollicking from the boss because of Michael’s goal.”

Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand in race against time to be fit for Manchester derby
-dailymail.co.uk-
Sir Alex Ferguson is anxiously waiting to find out if Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney will be fit for Saturday’s must-win Manchester derby at Eastlands.
Ferdinand suffered a groin injury in the goalless draw at Blackburn that has left Manchester United playing catch-up in the title race as they prepare to face local rivals City.
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/04/12/article-0-090A8670000005DC-846_472x358.jpg
Worrying times: Wayne Rooney faces a battle to be fit for Saturday's Manchester derby, as does Rio Ferdinand
The new England captain will be assessed on Tuesday after Ferguson gave his players a day off, although Rooney still came in for treatment on his right ankle and some light exercise.
If United’s 34-goal top scorer does not recover in time, Ferguson may again have to rely on Dimitar Berbatov, who has come under fire for his performances in Rooney’s absence against Chelsea and Blackburn.
Even Berbatov’s team-mates are believed to be unhappy over his attitude and work-rate, and Ferguson’s assistant Mike Phelan appeared to make a veiled reference to the Bulgarian, who looks increasingly likely to be sold in the summer.
Asked if United miss Rooney, Phelan said: ‘This is Manchester United, with a lot of other quality players in the squad.
‘At times, you are going to miss people. When that happens, other people have to come to the front. They have to show the calibre that brought them to the club in the first place.’
Steve Bennett will be the referee for Saturday’s derby as City look to avenge a 4-3 defeat at Old Trafford and their Carling Cup semi-final exit at the hands of United.

I want to damage Manchester United's Premier League bid! City's Nigel de Jong ups the stakes ahead of crunch derby
-dailymail.co.uk-
Nigel de Jong would relish the opportunity to end Manchester United's Premier League title bid as the City midfielder ups the ante ahead of this weekend's crucial derby.
The two sides come face-to-face on Saturday as City bid to secure Champions League football next season, while United must win to keep their slim title hopes alive.
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/04/12/article-0-07EDD4DF000005DC-391_468x336.jpg
Up for the battle: de Jong says he would like to 'damage' United's title bid
City are the team in form after winning three on the bounce, racking up 14 goals in the process. United however, have endured a torrid time of late, losing to Chelsea and drawing at Blackburn in the league, and being dumped out of Europe by Bayern Munich, all in the space of a week.
And de Jong would love nothing more than to end United's quest to become the first team to win four back-to-back titles in the top flight of English football.
'It's a derby and there is always more at stake. It would be nice to damage United's title chances,' de Jong said. 'But we have to focus on our own goal. Anything else is extra from our point of view.'
United will be four points adrift of Chelsea by the time they face City on Saturday, should the Blues beat Bolton at Stamford Bridge, while Arsenal could leapfrog Sir Alex Fergsuon's side with three points at Tottenham.
'United need the points to catch Chelsea and they know Arsenal are behind them,' de Jong added.
'They have to secure their place in the top two. We need those points, even though Liverpool drew.'
The Blues also want revenge for the injury-time 4-3 league defeat at Old Trafford and the late Wayne Rooney goal which knocked them out of the Carling Cup in January. 'This time we will go right to the end - I promise!' De Jong added.

Kritik Tevez untuk City dan Mancini
-detiksport.com-
http://www.detiksport.com/images/content/2010/04/13/72/mancini-tevez.jpg

http://www.detiksport.com/images/content/2010/04/13/72/Tevez.jpg

Giggs hopes face City
Ryan Giggs hopes to be fit to play in Saturday's Manchester derby - a fixture he has never missed since making his United debut back in 1991.
The Welshman was credited with the winning goal in his first derby 19 years ago in the old First Divison (although it perhaps should have gone down as an own goal). And since then he has played in all 32 derby clashes in all competitions.
His place in the side on Saturday has been thrown into down due to a hamstring injury that forced him off after an hour against Blackburn Rovers on Sunday, but the 36-year-old is hopeful he'll make the match.
"I just strained my hamstring against Blackburn," Giggs told reporters on Monday. "I felt it in the first 15-20 minutes, but the scan hasn't shown much [damage], so hopefully I'll be OK."
United's title hopes seem to be fading after a defeat to Chelsea and the draw with Blackburn, but Giggs says the players will have to lift themselves for game with more than just points at stake.
"This game was always going to be huge at this time of the season; they're going for fourth place and we're going for the championship. Derby days are always massive anyway, but there's a bit of extra spice to this one," he added.
"We've faced them three times this season and they've all been great games, so hopefully that'll be the case again - with us coming out on top!"

Wayne Rooney declares himself fit to aid Manchester United's title bid
Wayne Rooney has declared himself available for the remainder of Manchester United's faltering title campaign after undergoing intensive treatment on his damaged right ankle.
The Premier League's leading scorer limped out of United's Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich at Old Trafford last week after aggravating the injury he had suffered at the Allianz Arena eight days earlier. He missed Sunday's goalless draw at Blackburn Rovers but is making encouraging progress on the training ground and has told Sir Alex Ferguson that he feels absolutely fine and can return to the United manager's team when they renew acquaintances with Manchester City on Saturday.
His availability has to be approved by the club's medical staff but, unless there are any complications in the next few days, Rooney will now almost certainly be involved in a match that could be critical to United's now slender hopes of a fourth successive title and City's aspirations of preserving their fourth-placed position to reach the Champions League qualifiers.
The latest diagnosis will also be good news for Fabio Capello, the England manager, who has been kept in regular touch via updates from the Football Association's medical team, liaising directly with their counterparts from Old Trafford.
Rooney's importance to the United team can be accurately gauged by the manner in which they have struggled in his absence over the last fortnight. Carlos Tevez, his former team-mate, described him this week as the best striker in the world on current form, and Rooney will be the overwhelming favourite to win the Professional Footballers' Association's player-of-the-year award when the six-man shortlist is announced on Thursday.
Rio Ferdinand's availability for Saturday's game is not so clear after he finished the Blackburn match with a groin problem, but it is not thought to be injury that will keep him out long, or to be related to his recurrent back issues.
Ryan Giggs has hamstring trouble and may miss out unless there is an improvement in the next few days. "I just strained my hamstring against Blackburn," said Giggs, who has not missed a derby since his debut in 1991. "I felt it in the first 15-20 minutes, but the scan hasn't shown much [damage], so hopefully I'll be OK.
"This game was always going to be huge at this time of the season; they're going for fourth place and we're going for the championship. Derby days are always massive anyway but there's a bit of extra spice to this one."
Owen Hargreaves, whose knee problems have kept him out for 19 months, was not involved for United in their reserve game against Liverpool earlier tonight but the club say that is because he is now basing his fitness schedule on training with the first team.

Tanpa diperkuat Roo, penampilan MU terlihat jauh menurun.
Meski begitu, kondisi Rio Ferdinand masih belum fit.

Tevez is King, says Manchester City boss Mancini
-belfasttelegraph.co.uk-
http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00235/tevez_235322g.jpg
Roberto Mancini has warned Manchester United that Carlos Tevez is ready to deliver a world class display in tomorrow’s derby battle.
The Manchester City boss says Tevez deserves his place among the world’s best including Lionel Messi and Wayne Rooney.
While United have struggled to finish the season with a flourish without their injured hero Rooney, Tevez has been in sensational form and is ready to give his former club a taste of what they are missing.
“Carlos is already an important player for us, but he could improve over the next year,” said Mancini. “He has already improved this year, because he has never scored 28 goals before. I am happy about that, and when you pick the top players, you pick Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi and Tevez.
“Messi is the best at the moment. But Carlos and Rooney are very, very close.”
Tevez has the chance at Eastlands tomorrow (12.45) to shatter United's hopes of a fourth consecutive title and keep his side on course for a top four finish.
“It is important that we only want to win for us,” said Mancini. “We have our own target, and it is not important that we win to stop United winning the title. It is better to focus on ourselves. It is important that we continue to play as we have done for the last month.”

Manchester City need more than cash to be top: Giggs
-belfasttelegraph.co.uk-
http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Sport/Pix/pictures/2010/1/27/1264594751486/Ryan-Giggs-001.jpg
It will take much more than money alone to turn City into the best club in Manchester let alone the Premier League believes Ryan Giggs.
Nearly two decades after his first appearance in the derby, United's evergreen winger has claimed that if Roberto Mancini's side do not qualify for the Champions League this season they will struggle to attract players of true quality to Eastlands over the summer no matter how much they are prepared to spend.
Throughout Giggs' time at Old Trafford, United — give or take the odd defeat — have enjoyed the upper hand, but tomorrow they will have to face a revitalised, free-scoring City side in a game they have to win to have any chance of claiming a fourth successive title.
City too have plenty to play for. They currently lie fourth, a point ahead of Tottenham with five games to play — the all-important Champions League place is within their grasp.
Rarely can a Manchester derby have carried such weight at the business end of the table, and with City's ambitions the importance of the fixture is only going to increase.
“I think you've got to say yes, with the money that they've got at their disposal and the fact they've shown they're ready to pay for good players,” said Giggs.
“Whether or not the world-class players will come will be determined by whether they get into the Champions League. If they don't, they might struggle to do that.
“Money can buy you success, but for long-term success you need a lot more. We've broken the transfer record quite a few times, Blackburn did it with Alan Shearer and won the league and Chelsea spent big when Roman Abramovich arrived — but you need young players, continuity and a lot more to sustain that success.”
Giggs spent two years at City's School of Excellence in the mid-80s before joining United where he became the trailblazer for a succession of stellar names who emerged from The Cliff training ground to provide the backbone of Sir Alex Ferguson's title winning teams over the last two decades.
He made his first start for United against City in 1991 — scoring the only goal — and tomorrow will be his 33rd derby.
This season has not proved a vintage one for the 36-year-old, certainly compared to the previous one which ended with him being named as Player of the Year. Wayne Rooney carries United's hopes in that direction; he has been named on the shortlist for both Player and Young Player — but of more pressing concern to United (and City) is his fitness.
Rooney missed Sunday's goalless draw at Blackburn having aggravated his ankle injury in the Champions League defeat by Bayern Munich, but has been training this week and is expected to play some part in the game. His presence was sorely missed last weekend as United struggle to create chances
“He's scoring important goals, which all great players at United have done — like Mark Hughes, Eric Cantona and Ronaldo. They all produced magic when needed and that's what Wayne's been doing. Along with Lionel Messi and Ronaldo, he's one of the world's top three players.”

RIO FERDINAND WARNS MANCHESTER CITY: MONEY IS ‘NOT THE ANSWER’
-dailyexpress.co.uk-

RIO Ferdinand has warned Manchester City that breaking their 34-year wait to land a trophy will not be easy despite all the millions invested in the club by Abu Dhabi billionaire Sheikh Mansour.
City are on the brink of breaking into the Champions League for the first time but Ferdinand says actually winning silverware is a different matter.
On the eve of tomorrow’s Manchester derby, he said: “City have the capacity to be genuine contenders because they have so much money and they are targeting the big players.
“But the first trophy is always the hardest one to win and until they do that, there will be a lot of pressure on them.
“They reached the Carling Cup semi-finals this season but came up against us and they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Stoke, so there’s still a bit of work to do.
“I think if they finish in a Champions League spot this season, for them that will be as good as winning a trophy.”
Ferdinand revealed his personal relief over Michael Owen’s added-time winner in the season’s earlier derby at Old Trafford.
In the euphoria of that 4-3 win, he escaped the infamous “hairdryer treatment” from Sir Alex Ferguson for an embarrassing mistake that led to an equaliser from Craig Bellamy.
“That was a real ‘phew’ moment,” said Ferdinand. “I said a big thank you to him at the time and I texted him later that night to say it again.
“It was odd in the dressing room afterwards. We’d won the game so the lads were bouncing around, going crazy. But I was just depressed, sitting there thinking about how lucky I had been.

Madchester mayhem must stop: City and United warned over derby-day antics

Sign language: City's Carlos Tevez gestures at United's Gary Neville in a heated Carling Cup semi-final
Sir Alex Ferguson and Roberto Mancini will be told to keep a lid on their players’ derby-day goal celebrations after a warning from Manchester police.
Manchester United face bitter rivals City at Eastlands in a lunchtime showdown, which is one of the most important derby games in years.
It emerged last night that Greater Manchester Police have contacted both Barclays Premier League clubs this week, telling them that there must be no repeat of the provocative player behaviour that has marred the fixture this season.
Two Carling Cup meetings between the teams in January featured crowd trouble inside and outside Eastlands and Old Trafford that Manchester police had not
witnessed for some years and senior officers believe the behaviour of some players did not help.
In a league meeting between the teams last September, City striker Craig Bellamy clashed with a fan on the pitch at Old Trafford, while United skipper Gary Neville was warned by the FA for the way he celebrated his team’s winning goal.
Then, in the Carling Cup at Eastlands in January, City’s former United star Carlos Tevez celebrated the first of his two goals by running provocatively along the touchline and exchanging gestures with former team-mate Neville. In the second leg, Bellamy was hit by a bottle.

Bottle bullet: Bellamy is struck
City have been boosted this week by a return to training for Wayne Bridge who has been out for a month with a knee problem. The former England left back will start tomorrow’s game.
Meanwhile, manager Mancini was yesterday warned about his own behaviour by the FA after admitting a charge of improper conduct.

Jubilation: United got their own back with a 3-1 second-leg win at Old Trafford
The Italian was charged after barging in to Everton manager David Moyes towards the end of a game between the teams on March 24.
He was also handed a £20,000 fine, suspended until the end of the 2011-12 season.

Tevez-Neville Diminta Jaga Sikap

Saat menjamu MU nanti, Man.

Pertahanan Menguat, Mancio Mau Roo

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson: Wayne Rooney could play against Manchester City
-goal.com-
http://i.telegraph.co.uk/telegraph/multimedia/archive/01365/wayne-rooney-fergu_1365832c.jpg
Scot reckons it's the first time City have a chance of 'achieving something'
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that striker Wayne Rooney could feature during the derby game against Manchester City on Saturday.
The former Everton forward has been having problems with an injured ankle since the Champions League game against Bayern Munich, when he aggravated the injury as his side bowed out of the European competition.
"He [Rooney] has done some work over the last couple of days and we will see how he is for tomorrow's game," said Ferguson.
The Scot also maintained that Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs have a slim chance of taking part in the derby date at the City of Manchester Stadium.
The veteran manager then touched upon the subject of media speculation linking Rooney with a possible move to Real Madrid. English tabloid The Sun has claimed that the White House is contemplating a swoop for the England striker (and his national team manager Fabio Capello) after bowing out of the Champions League and losing to Barcelona last weekend in the race for the Primera Division title.
It had been speculated that the mountain of debt accumulated by United's owners the Glazer family could force the club to sell their star striker. But Ferguson insisted otherwise.
"It is the silly season isn't it," he joked.
"It always happens at the end of the season. Wayne Rooney will still be here next year."
Meanwhile, Owen Hargreaves is expected to be given a look-in this season, with the midfielder possibly making his first appearance after some 18 months on the sidelines recovering from injury.
United have also bought youngsters Javier Hernandez and Chris Smalling from Guadalajara and Fulham, respectively, to boost the squad next season.
"We have a reasonable structure here. There is nothing wrong with it," said Ferguson.
"We may look at one or two things, but nothing serious.
"It is important not to confuse us with others who have much more buying power. We do not need to worry about them.
"It was the same with Chelsea. We didn't bother ourselves when they were buying. We just try to concentrate on what we are doing."
United's cross-town rivals City are currently placed fourth in the Premier League, with Tottenham Hotspur - who play host to Chelsea on Saturday - also in the running to finish in the Champions League play-off spot.
And 'Fergie' paid a backhanded compliment to the club's arch-rivals, claiming that this is the first season since his arrival at Old Trafford that the Eastlands club are fighting for something significant.
"It is the most significant derby for a long time," said Ferguson.
"City and Spurs are trying to get into the Champions League for the first time in their history.
"It is the first time since I have been manager that we are facing City when they have a genuine chance of achieving something."

MATCH PREVIEW
The noisy neighbour could be about to raise the decibel level. Manchester City are banging on the door of Champions League qualification and would love nothing more than to have the final say in extinguishing United's title chances.
Should they succeed, City will have proved more of a nuisance than Sir Alex Ferguson might have imagined when he derided them as a domestic irritant following United's 4-3 win in September.
It's always personal between these Manchester rivals. Just ask Carlos Tevez. The Argentinian felt undervalued by Ferguson at United but he has been the high-octane inspiration behind City's push for a top-four finish, as recognised by his nomination for PFA Player of the Year.
The favourite for that award is Wayne Rooney, whose 26 league goals and overall performances as a one-man wrecking ball give United reason to argue that Tevez has not been missed at Old Trafford. Except, that is, when Rooney has been injured.
United's failure to win in their last two games has coincided with the England forward's absence. Should United lose further ground to leaders Chelsea on Saturday, a record 19th league title will surely have to wait for at least another year.
As for City, they are a club in a hurry; it might not be long before they have something to shout about.
MATCH FACTS
Head-to-head
• Manchester United have won their last three league matches against Manchester City since a 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford in February 2008.
• However, City have won four of their last seven home league matches in this fixture - only Chelsea (five wins) have fared better against Sir Alex Ferguson's side in the same period.
• This is the 142nd Manchester league derby. United lead by 56 wins to 37, with 48 draws.
• Manchester City have lost five league matches this season, two fewer than United. It is 20 years since City ended the season with fewer top-flight defeats than their neighbours.
Manchester City
• City have won three successive matches, scoring 14 goals. Victory on Saturday would represent their best run under Roberto Mancini.
• They must win their remaining three fixtures at Eastlands to achieve a Premier League club record of 14 home victories in a season.
• Carlos Tevez has scored 48 Premier League goals, 19 of them for Manchester United. He has scored four goals in as many matches against United in all competitions.
• Shaun Wright-Phillips is poised to make his 250th Premier League appearance.
Manchester United
• Failure to win for a third successive league match would represent United's worst run of form since August 2007.
• The Red Devils have not conceded a goal in their last three Premier League away matches. They have the best defensive record in the division, conceding 27 goals in 34 games.
• It is six years since the club last won their final four matches of the season. In 2002-03 they beat Blackburn, Tottenham, Charlton and Everton on their way to the title.
• Wayne Rooney has scored 148 club goals.
• Edwin van der Sar will make his 150th Premier League appearance for United.
• Wes Brown has made 199 Premier League starts for United, while Michael Carrick's next league start will be his 100th for the club.

'Tevez Paling Semangat Kalahkan MU'

Konflik tersebut semakin meruncing setelah Tevez resmi menjadi pemain The Citizens.
"Dia bertambah kuat sejak datang kemari.

Ferguson - No Tevez regrets

United boss says he was right to let striker leave
Sir Alex Ferguson insists he does not regret allowing Carlos Tevez to join Manchester United's neighbours and rivals City.
Tevez will likely be in the firing line for Manchester City when they host United at Eastlands on Saturday, live on Sky Sports 1 & HD1.
He will be hoping to find the net again having scored against his former club in both legs of the Carling Cup semi-final which United eventually edged.
Despite his tremendous goal scoring record this term, Ferguson says he does not regret selling the Argentina striker.
The right decision
"I have no regrets whatsoever," said the United boss.
"There is no bitterness from me.
"Players leave here from time to time. Some do well, others don't. We move on."
Tevez has flourished at City since his move in the summer and has notched an impressive 28 goals this campaign.
He struggled to have such an impact in his second season at Old Trafford, where he appeared to have fallen down the pecking order behind Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov.
"Carlos had a good first season with us, I must admit," added Ferguson. "In the second he didn't feature in as many games."
He conceded: "I cannot dispute that he is having a great goalscoring season."

Manchester City v Manchester United: Carlos Tévez and Dimitar Berbatov head-to-head
-telegraph.co.uk-
http://i.telegraph.co.uk/telegraph/multimedia/archive/01617/berbatov-tevez_1617538c.jpg
With Wayne Rooney still struggling for fitness, Manchester United could have to rely on Dimitar Berbatov to lead the line when they face a Manchester City side fronted by Carlos Tévez – a player who could easily have been wearing red not blue this weekend.
Ewood Park, April 2008. Manchester United are narrowly ahead of Chelsea in the race for the title. A dogged performance by Blackburn sees them 1-0 up with minutes remaining in the fixture. United will stay top if they lose but the momentum is threatening to desert them.
Up pops Carlos Tévez to snatch a point and leave United three points clear with a vastly better goal difference. United go on to win the title, again.
Fast forward almost exactly two years and United once more find themselves in Blackburn desperately needing points – more desperately in fact – to maintain a challenge with Chelsea for the title. Wayne Rooney is injured so United turn to £30m striker Dimitar Berbatov for inspiration.
None is found. United draw. The title is Chelsea’s to lose.
The contrast is one that for many is emblematic of the difference between these two multi-million pound strikers. One that United have persisted with despite his failure to light up Old Trafford. One who was allowed to leave last summer despite being a darling of the crowd.
Tévez is a tightly wound ball of energy and endeavour – a trait much admired in England. Berbatov is technically more skilful but carries the burden on his slouched, languid shoulders of a perceived lack of effort, resolve and application to make his talent felt.
Sir Alex Ferguson did not believe Tévez would be missed after he defected to Manchester City. But how he would love to have him for this weekend’s derby fixture should Rooney miss out.
In recent weeks Berbatov has had the opportunity to make those critical of him eat their words. But, against first Chelsea and then Blackburn he delivered little. Perhaps Ferguson did make a rare mistake after all.
Tévez has been a revelation at City. Leading the line with verve and brio. Energised by a regular starting place he has scored 22 goals in 30 league appearances in a blue shirt compared to Berbatov’s 12 in one game less in red.
Tévez’s recent hat-trick against Wigan turned a frustrating night in to one of glory for City who are now odds on favourites to claim fourth spot and a Champions League place off the back of his goals.
But perhaps Berbatov loses something in perception. Tévez is a workaholic, Berbatov is lazy, so the conventional wisdom goes. But the Bulgarian can at least claim to be as clinical and effective as his former team-mate in front of goal this season.
The pair have an almost identical goals per minutes on the pitch ratio this season. Tévez’s main gripe with Ferguson as their parting became acrimonious was that he wasn’t playing enough. It is just as rare for Berbatov to play a full 90 minutes for United as Ferguson appears to have lost faith in him.
The truth of the matter is that United have missed Tévez. Or, more specifically have missed him this month. Not because of his superiority to Berbatov over the course of the campaign. Not because they were underemploying him last season and now he has proved that to have been an error.
But, rather, because Tévez is a like-for-like replacement for Rooney. United have come to rely on the England striker this season, as any side would in the form he is in, and play with him up top on his own.
As injury truncated Rooney's season at the worst possible moment, Tévez would have fitted in to the system and pace of United’s game plan perfectly. The £25m needed to sign Tévez would have been a lot to pay for a substitute who would have been unhappy playing first understudy to Rooney - but just now it looks like better value than the money shelled out on the man currently filling that role.

Poster Tevez Kopian Obama untuk Panasi MU
http://www.kompas.com/data/photo/2010/04/16/1339331p.jpg
(MRR)

Terjebak Abu, Wasit Derby Manchester Diganti

Manchester City v Manchester United- City question appointment of Martin Atkinson
The West Yorkshire official has been switched from Saturday afternoon's Premier League fixture between Stoke City and Bolton at the Britannia Stadium after Bennett was stranded in Romania as a result of the flight chaos caused by the eruption of the Eyjafjallaj?l volcano in Iceland.
Bennett had originally been scheduled to take charge of the game but the Kent official found it impossible to get home from a Fifa-sponsored referees' training camp.
While accepting the unforeseen circumstances of Bennett's situation, Atkinson's appointment has been greeted with bemusement at City following the controversy sparked by his officiating during United's 4-3 victory in the corresponding fixture at Old Trafford last September.
Atkinson enraged the then-City manager Mark Hughes by playing six minutes of stoppage time at the end of the game after the fourth official, Alan Wiley, signalled that a minimum of four minutes of added time would be played.
With Michael Owen's winning goal for United timed at 95 minutes and 26 seconds, Hughes was critical of the timekeeping of the officials, saying; "If he [Atkinson] can give me a good reason I wouldn't have a problem, but I just can't see where he got that time."
Although Atkinson has taken charge of a City fixture since the derby defeat the 2-0 home victory against Portsmouth on Jan 31 senior officials at Eastlands are unhappy at the decision to draft him in for Saturday's derby, having been involved in such controversy during the last league encounter between the two clubs.
After being informed of Atkinson's appointment early on Friday afternoon, City immediately contacted the Professional Game Match Officials Ltd in an effort to seek Riley's observations on the appointment and the reasoning behind the selection of Atkinson.
But as of close of business at City, at 6pm on Friday night, the club had not been contacted by Riley or PGMOL to answer their query.
Atkinson is regarded as one of the Premier League's leading officials, having been elevated to the Fifa international referees' list in 2006, just 12 months after his promotion to the select group of referees.
But aside from City's complaints over his performance during the defeat at Old Trafford, Atkinson has also been subjected to criticism from United manager Sir Alex Ferguson this season.
Ferguson escaped punishment for describing as "absolutely ridiculous" Atkinson's decision to award the free-kick that led to Chelsea's goal in United's 1-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge in November. The Scot also claimed that Atkinson's performance contributed to his "losing faith in refereeing".
The United manager was cleared of improper conduct at an FA hearing in May 2008 after reacting angrily to Atkinson's performance during an FA Cup quarter-final defeat against Portsmouth two months earlier.
Atkinson dismissed United goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak and awarded Portsmouth a match-winning penalty after earlier failing to penalise a goal-saving handball by visiting defender Sylvain Distin.
Ferguson said at the time: "Managers get sacked because of things like that and he's going to referee a game next week. He [former referees' general manager Keith Hackett] is not doing his job properly and he needs to be assessed.
"I'm assessed as a manager, players are assessed, referees should be assessed properly by the right people. That performance should not be accepted by our game."
With Saturday's fixture likely to prove crucial to the ambitions of both clubs this season, City are ready to review any response from Riley before deciding on whether to make further representations next week.

Three United players in doubt for Manchester derby
-trulyreds.com-
http://images.icnetwork.co.uk/upl/dailypost/jul2009/4/8/wayne-rooney-and-ryan-giggs-during-manchester-united-s-victory-over-hangzhou-greentown-174391804.jpg
Just 24 hours ahead of the crucial Manchester derby on Saturday, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is still sweating over the fitness of three key players as he prepares to take on Manchester City in the heavyweight clash at Eastlands. He has admitted that it will be left until the last minute to decide so it’s up in the air with all three in terms of anything definite.
Wayne Rooney has been touted for a return to action this weekend but the boss said on Friday “Wayne has done some work in the last couple of days and we’re going to assess how he does today in training to see how he is for Saturday’s game”
“The big problem I have is that all the players want to play. But we have to be 100 per cent sure that Wayne is ready” Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs are also rated doubtful for the game “The same applies for Ryan and Rio, although they are both behind Wayne in terms of the work they have done.”
“Picking up injuries in last Sunday’s game is a problem in terms of recovery time, but at least they have done some jogging. I have to consider them if they manage to do something today but it’s up in the air at the moment.”
On a more positive note, Owen Hargreaves is in the travelling squad after training well on Thursday while John O’Shea has made a good recovery after coming off at Ewood Park with a slight injury last Sunday. “I think with John it was just tiredness after his first start in quite a while. Other than that everyone is fit.”
Whoever is passed fit and selected by Sir Alex will be under no illusions about the importance of Saturday’s match, it being the first of United’s last four league games with a four point gap to close on Chelsea.
Fergie hailed this weekend as the most pivotal at the top of the table with Tottenham hosting Chelsea as well as the Manchester derby at Eastlands. “Whoever pulled this fixture out of the hat couldn’t have planned it any better” said Fergie “It’s a pivotal week of the season for four teams – ourselves, Manchester City, Chelsea and Spurs so the potential scenarios are fantastic. Obviously, being selfish, we’d like ourselves to win and Spurs to beat Chelsea. That would put us back in the frame for the championship” the cunning Scot added.
In other news coming out of Old Trafford, veteran midfielder Paul Scholes has ended doubts over his future by signing a one year contract extension. There had been some considerable doubt over the 35 year old remaining at United earlier in the season when he claimed to be unhappy with his contribution.
However, Sir Alex was always confident such fears would be allayed and is delighted that Scholes is staying on. “His form this year indicates his ability and his enjoyment of the game are as strong as ever, there is every reason for him to continue” said Ferguson. “There was talk about him wanting to retire, but when you see his enjoyment in training and playing you can see how much he wants to carry on”
Ryan Giggs has already signed up for another season which means that only Gary Neville of Ferguson’s old stagers still has to commit himself to what will certainly be his final term.

MANCHESTER UNITED WON'T TAKE CHANCES WITH ROONEY
-dailystar.co.uk-
http://www.detik.com/images/content/2010/02/27/72/Rooney-isi.jpg
WAYNE ROONEY will get the nod to play in the Manchester derby – only if he is 100 per cent fit.
Manchester United boss Sir Alex *Ferguson yesterday insisted he will not take the slightest chance with star striker Rooney.
Ferguson and United need 34-goal Rooney at Eastlands – especially as former Reds ace Carlos Tevez is on fire for City.
Tevez has hit 28 goals for the Blues, nine more than his best haul for United in two seasons, and two in each of the last two matches.
But Ferguson declared he has no regrets about losing the Argentinian last summer.
“I’ve got no regrets at all,” said Ferguson. “None whatsoever. We tried to buy him but we didn’t match the money they wanted, therefore the boy moved on.
“There is no bitterness for me. Players leave here, some do well, some don’t. You just have to move on.”
Ferguson said Rooney, again being linked with a summer bid by Real Madrid, will be moving nowhere.
“Well, this is the silly season, isn’t it? It always happens. Wayne Rooney will be at Manchester United next season,” said Ferguson.
The United boss hopes the England star will be at Eastlands today, and the signs are positive that Rooney has recovered from the latest twist of his right ankle.
Ferguson said: “Wayne has done some work in the last couple of days and we will wait until the end of the day to see how he is before making a decision.
“The same applies to Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand. There is a problem in terms of the recovery part but at least they did some jogging yesterday and I will have to *consider them if they do some more work today.
“But it is up in the air in terms of their selection. John O’Shea has made a good *recovery and trained this week.”
Rooney, injured in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final in Munich, and again in the return, is desperate to *return after missing last Sunday’s 0-0 *letdown at Blackburn.
And Ferguson added: “All players want to play in these games. But, with Wayne, we have to be 100 per cent right because this derby game will be really hectic, particularly the early part of the game.”
Ferguson suggested Rooney could emulate former United star Cristiano Ronaldo and win both PFA Young Player and Player of the Year awards. He said: “After the season Wayne has had, he is bound to be in the running for both awards.”
And Fergie could not resist a little dig at Tevez – and City – when asked why the striker had scored more goals for the Blues.
“Well, this is a very big club and there is a big demand here,” said Ferguson.
“I thought he had a good first season with us, I must admit, but in the second season he didn’t feature as much.”
The United chief also warned City that, even if they claim fourth place and a shot at the Champions League, going a step further next season and winning the Premier League title will be a major challenge.
He added: “They’ve still got the small problem of *ourselves, Chelsea, Arsenal and possibly Liverpool, but I’m sure they will be revved up to do better next time.”

ALEX FERGUSON: MOST IMPORTANT MANCHESTER DERBY OF MY TIME
-express.co.uk-
http://images.dailyexpress.co.uk/img/dynamic/67/285x214/169768_1.jpg
The din from the noisy neighbours has reached such a crescendo that even Sir Alex Ferguson has had to sit up and listen.
Not so long ago, United boss Ferguson dismissed the Manchester derby as being more important to City than to his team, who always had bigger things on their minds.
Not now though. The local bragging rights have gained an importance that forced Ferguson to concede today’s showdown at Eastlands “is the most important derby in my 23 years here”.
In simple terms, a City victory would strengthen their grip on fourth place – and the final Champions League qualifying ticket – while effectively ending United’s title hopes.
But for many, the significance goes far deeper. Will April 17, 2010 go down as a defining date in the history of these two great rivals?
The day when after over 30 years of United superiority – they have won 28 trophies since City’s last silverware in 1976 – the balance of football power in Manchester finally shifted towards their neighbours. Ferguson wondered when City embarked on their summer spending spree whether it would all end in tears.
He even trotted out the example of the so-called “Bank of England” club in the Fifties, Sunderland, who ended up being relegated. His tone was a bit different yesterday as he assessed the threat of a City team who will finish closer to his side this season than at any time since they actually finished above United in 1991.
“This is the most significant derby since I’ve been in charge,” he said. “It is the first time we have played City in my time when they have had a genuine chance of actually achieving something. It is a different derby game than all the others because of what both clubs can achieve from it – and lose from it.
“They have a chance of getting into the Champions League and we are still in with a shout for the title.
“City’s form in the past few weeks has been excellent. Six goals at Burnley and five at home to Birmingham, nobody has done that to Birmingham this season. They are in great scoring form.”
The proximity of the teams in the table is in stark contrast to their respective financial positions.
While United’s owners, the Glazers, launched a £509million bond issue to refinance the club’s debt, quite apart from their own £200m loans, City’s billionaire benefactor, Sheikh Mansour, simply turned his £300m loan to the club into equity.
So while Ferguson says he will continue to buy young, developing players like Mexican import Javier Hernandez and Fulham’s Chris Smalling, he expects City to keep buying ready-made stars to cement their place at football’s top table.
“They have such an amazing amount of buying power,” said Ferguson. “They can go and buy another team. If they qualify for the Champions League you can rest assured they will buy players. From our point of view, we have a reasonable structure in place. We may need to tweak the squad but we like to buy young players who we can develop.
“We may sign two more players at the most because that is all we need, our structure is OK.
“I don’t think we will be in competition with City because they will be after different types of players. Nobody knows what their plans are, but the point is they have a buying power that is different from all the other clubs.”
City were prepared to cough up big money to lure Carlos Tevez away from Old Trafford last summer.
Ferguson claims he has no regrets, even though Tevez has hit 28 goals in a season when his own side have been short of goalscoring support for Wayne Rooney.
The Tevez-Rooney shoot-out is an intriguing sub-plot today, but Ferguson could not resist airing the notion that Tevez had flourished at City because the expectation and pressure is lower.
“This is a very big club and there is a big demand here,” he said. “I thought he had a good first season with us, I must admit, but in the second season he didn’t feature as much.
“You cannot dispute the fact he has had a great goalscoring season but he had far more competition with us than he has at City. I have no regrets at all. We tried to buy him but we didn’t match the money they wanted, therefore the boy moved on.
“There is no bitterness for me. Players leave here, some do well, some don’t. You have to move on.”
As City loom larger on United’s radar, there are other worries at Old Trafford.
They still have to address finding Ferguson’s successor. He has often said he will not work past his 70th birthday and he reaches that milestone on the last day of next year.
And if Real Madrid have their wicked way, Rooney will not be a United player much longer.
That notion received short shrift from Ferguson. He said: “This is the silly season isn’t it? It always happens. Rooney will be at Manchester United next season.” Trouble is, by then City could be Manchester’s leading club.‘Tevez had far more competition with us than he has at City’

The real deal: Manchester City are finally a threat to United after 23 years, says Sir Alex Ferguson
-dailymail.co.uk-
Sir Alex Ferguson has been here before. Big noise before a Manchester derby. For more than 23 years the Manchester United manager has been hearing it. Rarely has he taken it so seriously.
There have been isolated failures, of course. Moments when, to quote him directly, he has ‘been as close to putting my head in the oven as I have ever been’.
There have been goals to make him shiver. From Andy Hinchcliffe (City 5 United 1, September 1989), Shaun Goater (City 3 United 1, November 2002) and Shaun Wright-Phillips (City 4 United 1, March 2004).
Never, though, has there been a genuine long-term threat since he took over.
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/04/16/article-0-051CE3B3000005DC-860_468x297.jpg
The end game? Fergie's grip on Manchester has lasted 23 years - but City are resurgent...
But now, in what some people in football feel may yet be Ferguson’s last season at Old Trafford, he has looked across the city that has been home for two-and-a-half decades and recognised a change.
It is a change brought to his door by Arab money. He may privately sniff at that a little. But it is change, all the same.
‘Over the 23 years I’ve been playing City they have always said they are capable of beating us,’ said Ferguson ahead of today’s derby game at Eastlands.
‘A derby creates fantastic optimism and creates noise and comments. And that is what the supporters want to hear.
‘They don’t want to hear (City say) that, “We’ve got no chance of beating United and we’re going to get slaughtered”.
‘But this is a different derby in terms of the position City are in as opposed to years gone by. That’s what makes this one really interesting. City have a chance of being fourth in the league and they also have a chance of beating us.
‘It’s the first time we’ve played City when they have a chance of actually achieving something.
‘They have a chance of getting into the Champions League and there is a definite emphasis on this derby game that’s never been there before in my time here. For City, just being in the competition would be the most exciting thing ever.
‘And of course they could go out and sign 10 players with their buying power. That could change the whole perspective for them.’

Battle of the big guns: Wayne Rooney (left) clashes with Carlos Tevez in January
Ferguson has played 37 matches against City since arriving at United in November 1986. Having lost just four of his first 30 — a period spanning 20 years — he has tasted defeat three times since Sven Goran Eriksson arrived at Eastlands at the start of the 2007-08 season.
Eriksson is no longer around, of course. Nor is his successor, Mark Hughes. But these men, along with current boss Roberto Mancini, have been in charge of what may be described as the ‘new Manchester City’. The winner in Eriksson’s first derby was scored by a Brazilian, Geovanni. This season an Argentine — former United striker Carlos Tevez —scored twice as City won the first leg of the Carling Cup semi-final in January.
City these days are cosmopolitan. They are rich. They are dangerous.
‘Their form over the past few weeks has been excellent,’ admitted Ferguson.
‘They put six goals past Burnley and scored five against Birmingham. Nobody has done that against Birmingham this season.
‘City are in great goalscoring form so the neutrals would say that scenario is fantastic and it makes this game even more fascinating than ever.’

Victory dance: Emmanuel Adebayor (left) hit two as City ran roughshod over Birmingham
And there are those within the game who feel the Manchester derby may be Ferguson’s last.
At a recent gathering of the League Managers’ Association, much of the talk among men who have known the Scot for years centred on the issue of his retirement. Some firmly suspect he will leave United this summer. Ferguson has told nobody of his plans. If he is to leave sooner than we think then only his wife, Cathy, and United chief executive David Gill will know.

There is also the issue of overhauling Liverpool’s record of 18 league titles to consider. He recently admitted that that particular goal was ‘in my soul’ and if Chelsea were to win at Tottenham today the prospects of that happening this season will recede further.
‘It is the most pivotal week of the season for four teams,’ he conceded. ‘For us, Chelsea, Tottenham and City. Two for the league title and two going for the Champions League. The scenarios are fantastic.
‘Obviously, we hope we win and Tottenham win. We hope Chelsea lose because it will put us back in the picture. And having seen Tottenham’s performance against Arsenal this week you have to say they are definitely capable of beating Chelsea.’
Ferguson spoke from behind his usual press conference table at United’s Carrington training centre yesterday morning. Later, just a six-iron away over a fence or two, Mancini did his best to concentrate on his own future and that of the club he joined in December.
The Italian is not one for hyperbole but it was easy to agree when he suggested that the next five games ‘are the most important in our history’.

Eyes on the ball: Mancini has guided City to the cusp of Champions League qualification
Indeed, there is no little tension at City right now. They are closer to finishing in the exclusive top four than they perhaps believed they would be a month or so ago.
A Champions League place is everything to the Barclays Premier League’s nouveaux riches... and they know it.
If a place among Europe’s elite was assured, Mancini would then be allowed to spend handsomely. The really big-name players will want to join. In an instant someone
like Liverpool striker Fernando Torres would become a realistic, attainable target.
Put simply, this is not the time to get anything wrong. ‘It is important because I think if we play in the Champions League next year then we can improve a lot,’ said Mancini.
‘If we do that then I think Manchester City could be an important team in the future.
‘All derbies are important, but this one is especially so. We are going for fourth place and we are very close now.’
The last time Mancini and Ferguson met was in the latter’s office at Old Trafford in February. Wayne Rooney had just steered United into the Carling Cup final with a last-minute goal and Mancini swallowed his angst to talk football and red wine with a
manager he yesterday described as the best in the world.
The rivalry between the pair is just four months old, while the clubs have been going head to head since 1891.
Is this really the most important meeting ever? Put it this way: it will resonate across the land.

Michael Carrick - We've not given up on title hopes
-dailypost.co.uk-
http://www.independent.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00246/carrick_246648t.jpg
MICHAEL CARRICK insists Manchester United have not thrown in the title towel just yet.
United are four points behind Chelsea, with only four games remaining, but Carrick is looking ahead to the Manchester City encounter with optimism.
“We are not giving up,” he said. “We still have that lifeline and whilst we still have half a chance, we will continue to fight.
“You just have to hope that we can get the right result and things will swing back in our favour.”
There have already been three pulsating clashes between United and City this season, with another tense encounter certain given the respective prizes both sides are still playing for.
“It is more than a local rivalry,” said Carrick.
“It has intensified a lot, understandably with the way things have gone.
“You could see that in the Carling Cup semi-finals. Those two games were brilliant and I am sure it will be something like that tomorrow. Hopefully we will get the same result.”

Rooney=goal=glory

Gue sebenarnya sudah menatap musim depan... TAPI
Tanpa bermaksud mengharapkan kesialan buat tim lain,

Fergie: Rooney could face City
Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Wayne Rooney could return to action against Manchester City on Saturday.
The Manchester United star has been struggling with an ankle problem he aggravated in the second leg of the Champions League clash to Bayern Munich but has trained this week.
If the 24-year-old suffers no reaction he will be in the squad, Ferguson confirmed.
"He has done some work over the last couple of days and we will see how he is for tomorrow's game," said Ferguson, who also confirmed Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand have an outside chance of being involved at Eastlands.
Rooney's name has again been linked with a big-money bid from Real Madrid, who will be looking to reinforce their squad.
Given the huge debts amassed by the Glazer family, plenty of questions have been raised about the Old Trafford club's ability to resist an offer that could match the world record £80million that Real paid them for Cristiano Ronaldo last year.
However, Ferguson was quick to brush off such talk.
"It is the silly season isn't it," said the United boss.
"It always happens at the end of the season. Wayne Rooney will still be here next year."
There was further good news for United, with Owen Hargreaves set to be included in Ferguson's squad for tomorrow's game, giving him the chance to make his first senior appearance in almost 20 months.
Hargreaves' fitness is one of the matters Ferguson must wrestle with this summer as he looks to reshape a squad that has already been bolstered by the signings of Javier Hernandez and Chris Smalling, with more set to follow.
Ferguson was not referring to any restrictions placed upon him by the Glazer family, but rather City's vast spending power.
The Scot is sure if the Blues finish in the top four it will trigger another huge plunge in the transfer market.
It provides a backdrop to a potentially pivotal day, given Chelsea must also visit City's top-four rivals Tottenham later in the day.
"It is the most significant derby for a long time," said Ferguson.
"City and Spurs are trying to get into the Champions League for the first time in their history.
"It is the first time since I have been manager that we are facing City when they have a genuine chance of achieving something."
City's major attacking threat will be Carlos Tevez, a player who left United amid some acrimony last summer.
Although they are appalled at the South American's choice of club, many Red Devils supporters lament Tevez's departure.
He has already caused problems for his old club, scoring in both legs of the Carling Cup semi-final, which United edged thanks to Wayne Rooney's injury-time winner.
However, Ferguson remains adamant he made the right decision letting Tevez leave.
"I have no regrets about that whatsoever," said the United boss.
"There is no bitterness from me.
"Players leave here from time to time. Some do well, others don't. We move on.
"Carlos had a good first season with us, I must admit. In the second he didn't feature in as many games.
"I cannot dispute that he is having a great goalscoring season."

Mutlak MU menguasai bbk 1. aliran bola bagus, determinasi ok. semangat & mental jg naik pasca seri dr blackburn.
Formasi opa SAF berjalan dgn lancar.
Sedikit mengomentari para pemain.
Van Der Sar agak tenang dibelakang.
Scholes come deep to control the game. Good Job Ginger.
Fletcher beroperasi dikiri, sedikit unik.Tp mgkn itu strategi opa utk membantu Evra ngeredam a.johnson.
Gibson, mengapa dirimu melakukan spekulasi trus. Dipikirkan dulu jaraknya, jgn langsung tembak aja.
Vidic ada dimana-mana,tevez-adebayor? Mati kutu.
Evans harus lbh tenang & konsentrasi dibelakang.
Neville sptnya hrs bagi konsentrasi utk nyerang & bertahan. Maklum, lwn yg dihadapi bellamy.
Giggs seharusnya banyak buka ruang, krn dia berposisi diblkg Rooney.
Rooney,i know that you not 100% fit. but, when you on the pitch, our mental rise up.
for Valencia, keep on the good work. you make bridge dizzy.

Paul Scholes scored deep into injury time to give United a dramatic victory in the Manchester derby at Eastlands.
Just as they did at Old Trafford earlier this season, the Reds struck with seconds remaining to keep their Premier League title hopes alive.
Last it was Michael Owen giving United a 4-3 win, this time it was Scholes who headed home a precise and powerful header to seal the win.
Wayne Rooney started for United but didn't seem fully fit.
Early on, having beaten Kolo Toure with a deft piece of skill, the goal opened up for striker, who had scored 34 times before his unfortunate ankle injury.
He dragged the effort wide though, which only increased his frustration, his contribution eventually brought to an end 15 minutes from time when he was replaced by Dimitar Berbatov.
Rooney’s attack on De Jong might have been revenge for a thunderous challenge from the Dutchman on Patrice Evra, which set the tone for an opening period high on energy but low on goalmouth incident.
A bulldog of a midfielder, De Jong gave United little time to settle on the ball, and though the visitors had plenty of possession, much of their passing was of a sideways variety.
Only Antonio Valencia looked as though he could cause the Blues significant problems.
Having escaped a penalty-box handball that went unseen by Atkinson and, apparently, the entire United team, returning full-back Wayne Bridge was undone by the Ecuador man just before the break.
Valencia danger
Valencia squeezed a cross through to the near post where Giggs was alert enough to make contact, but lacked the power to beat Shay Given with a low flick.
City seemed to have more movement but invariably ran into a defensive brick wall.
Against his old club, Carlos Tevez curled an early free-kick towards the top corner only for Edwin van der Sar to make an excellent save.
It turned out to be the sum total of first-half efforts on goal from Roberto Mancini’s men, a fizzing low cross from Craig Bellamy not much to enthuse about considering his team had scored 11 times in their last two outings.
The was no discernable improvement - either in the overall quality or Rooney’s temper - in the opening minutes of the second-half.
It did Rooney no credit at all that when he was kicked by Vincent Kompany, he rolled around in apparent agony then jumped to his feet and ran off without a problem once the yellow card had been brandished.
City had more speed and a flowing move, started by Emmanuel Adebayor and inevitably involving Tevez, ended when Craig Bellamy crashed a shot into the side-netting.
Shortly afterwards, the Blues had a penalty appeal turned down.
Gareth Barry could be accused of making too much of minimal contact by Gary Neville. There was certainly contact though, and not with the ball on Neville’s part.
The crowd were still digesting that incident when Giggs got on the end of a long ball beyond the City defence and would have been clean through if he had not been confronted immediately by Given, whose goal was threatened by Berbatov with a deft header shortly afterwards.
It then took the interventions of Nemanja Vidic and Darren Fletcher to ensure a goalmouth scramble caused by Van der Sar’s ill-advised charge to meet a cross did not ended in disaster for the visitors.
This flurry of activity gave the impression of a game finally heading somewhere. It took Scholes to find the map.

VAN DER SAR: Rarely had to extend himself but ninth minute stop from Tevez's free kick was crucial. Almost ruined it with poor flapped effort at late corner 7
NEVILLE: Worries that the veteran would be left gasping for air attempting to keep up with Bellamy never materialised. Played it with his head 7
EVANS: Drafted in for Ferdinand and generally the England captain couldn't have done a better job against Adebayor 7
VIDIC: Often without Ferdinand he doesn't look as solid but the Serb stood firm aerially and on floor 7
EVRA: The Frenchman was back to his better form and quelled the Johnson threat, then Wright-Phillips and still set up winner 8
VALENCIA: His one-to-one with Bridge never developed into anything major. Only had a couple of crosses that caused Blues problems 7
SCHOLES: Those who wondered why hed just got a new contract saw why in first half particularly. Not same impact on second until ghosted in for typical winner 7
FLETCHER: His studs didnt miss flattening a blade of the Eastlands grass as he fought to make it an equal engine room battle 7
GIBSON: Never really got the ball in his shooting range and that reduced his effectiveness and impact on the match greatly 6
GIGGS: Too many attempted little deft touches from the elder statesman failed to come off 6
ROONEY: The on-fire Rooney before his ankle lay off would have swallowed up his golden 41st minute chance. He never caused City any other moment of serious concern 6
Subs:
Nani (sub Gibson 59) Lively effort 6
Berbatov (sub Rooney 74) Put City on back foot 6
Obertan (sub Valencia 80) Hand in winner 6

Fergie hails evergreen Scholes

Sir Alex Ferguson hailed Paul Scholes for keeping Manchester United’s Barclays Premier League title hopes alive.
Scholes scored in the third minute of injury time to settle the Manchester derby at Eastlands 1-0 in United’s favour and keep the reigning champions in sight of leaders Chelsea.
Ferguson said the title would have been out of sight had United been held to a draw.
He told Sky Sports: “It would have been very, very difficult if we had not won.
“I think we deserved to win the match, no question, but I couldn’t see a goal coming.
“I decided to put Scholes a bit further forward and it paid off.
“He was man of the match today, he was wonderful, he’s such a skilful player.”
Ferguson also paid tribute to the influence of Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville.
He added: “The experience in these games in definitely important and can be vital in helping other players as well as their own contribution.”
Neville said United needed a positive result after the disappointment of their Champions League exit.
He added: “We were hoping for something today as we had not had a great two weeks. Scholesy had passed them to death all day and gives us a little bit of life.
“We just have to hope someone does us a favour.”
Scholes’ performance in midfield had helped United dominate the match in a game of few chances.
Scholes said: “I think we were the team pressing to try to score and fortunately we were lucky enough to win the game with not much time left.
“It’s nice to win any game against City and away from home especially.”

Neville: We needed that
-manutd.com-
http://picsrv.manutd.com/?fif=/manu/img_10_34469_905.jpg&obj=iip,1.0&wid=480&hei=179&rgn=0,0.08762886597938145,0.875912408759124,0.4613 4020618556703&cvt=jpeg
Not for the first time in his successful career, Gary Neville's face said at all when the final whistle blew at Eastlands following the fourth dramatic derby of this exhilarating season.
Just when United's title hopes looked dead and buried, Paul Scholes popped up to instead bury a header and end a difficult run of results for the Reds in the best possible way. The way the players celebrated, with backroom staff and substitutes racing onto the pitch to join in, was perfectly understandable says Neville.
"We weren’t getting carried away at the end – if you win a derby in that manner, four games from the end of the season, to give yourself a hope of still winning the title, then obviously you’re going to be excited," Gary told MUTV.
"Obviously there are always question marks at this club when you lose matches. Today we’re delighted we’ve won that game in such a manner.
"I think the celebration was about coming out of a difficult two or three weeks. And winning the derby means everything, to us, to the players, the fans. It’s something that we needed. We definitely needed that as a club.”
Like his manager, Gary felt the Reds merited all three points against Manchester City, citing his team's greater number of goalscoring opportunities.
"I thought we deserved to win, from the chances we had in the first half for Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney and a couple of chances in the second half," assessed the skipper.
"They had a couple as well but I do think we deserved to win. Sometimes you have to watch it back on TV to see if that’s true or not because in the game itself it’s difficult to know if that’s a correct statement. But I felt during the game we had the chances to win it."
In the end, one chance was enough - thanks in part to a solid defensive performance.
"Nemanja Vidic and Jonny Evans were both excellent. And when we keep a clean sheet, we always think we can win a game because we can always score goals."
Paul Scholes may not score as many goals as he did earlier in his career, but Neville was delighted to see his long-time colleague get one when it really mattered - on the day after he signed a new contract to keep him at United for another year.
"He deserves it. He’s passed them to death from the first minute until the last. Then in injury time he’s gone forward and scored a goal. It was a perfect performance from a really great player."

Dialah man of the match, dia luar biasa, benar-benar pemain dengan kemampuan hebat," puji Fergie di Sky Sports.

@Vidic sperti biasa tangguh dlm bertahan, adebayor gak berkutik
@Evra ahhhhh cakep banged ntu assist, rajin membantu serangan jg..,mulai direpotkan kala SWP masuk
@Gibson dpt pengalaman derby niy, smoga k dpannya bs baiik lg kmrin jarang dpt ksempatan tendangan bola jarak jauh kesukaanya
@Fletcher Petarung sejatiii hehehehe
@Rooney cukup menyita perhatian lini belakang city, minim peluang jg semalam
@Scholes MOTM, MVP dehhhh ane masi gak bs nyembunyiin kebahagian wktu om pol berdiri free dari tengah..clingak clinguk kiri kanan ternyata obertan dah siap.. PS18..Obertan..gocek dikit..umpan Evra control sedikit..crossing bola..liat giggsy dan berbatov mendapat perhatian extra / mendapat penjagaan ketat.. gak liat om pol dgn BRILIANTTT menyundul bola...deesssss Goallllllllll mantabbbs :-bd

Kakak Penyerang MU Dihajar Suporter City
Selasa, 20/4/2010 | 08:16 WIB
MANCHESTER, KOMPAS.com — Kakak penyerang Manchester United, Mame Biram Diouf, Abdul Diouf, mengungkapkan, dirinya ditendangi dan dipukuli oleh para pendukung Manchester City, seusai derbi Manchester, Sabtu (17/4/2010). Namun, menurut agen Mame, Jim Solbakkensaat, Abdul tak mengalami cedera serius.
