Apapun hasil match hari ini antara City versus United serta Spurs versus Chelsea, laga kali ini tetap penting bagi kedua club, United tetap harus menjaga sedikit peluangnya yang ada atau paling tidak tetap harus menjaga kapasitas United di liga premier, sedangkan Spurs, tentunya akan masih ngotot untuk merebut tiket terakhir UCL musim depan. ‘No more United favours’

MICHAEL DAWSON has warned Manchester United not to expect any more favours from Tottenham this season after helping them claw back ground in the Premier League title race.

United are one point behind Chelsea thanks to Spurs defeating Carlo Ancelotti’s men at White Hart Lane, three days after Harry Redknapp’s looked to have ended Arsenal’s title chances at the same venue.

Spurs now travel to Old Trafford and need a result to maintain their challenge for Champions League qualification.

Centre-back Dawson said: “We will go there and we have got no fear whatsoever. Six points out of six against Arsenal and Chelsea so we will go to Old Trafford full of confidence and with nothing to lose.

“It is certainly going to be exciting, they did us a favour by beating City then we did them a favour.

“But we will go there next week, hopefully get something and be right in the mix.

“We have got a fantastic squad here so I don’t see why we cannot pick up points like we have done against the top teams.

“That is what we are striving for and certainly over the past five days we have proved a few people wrong.”

Dawson insists there is more steel in the Spurs squad compared to 2006 when they came close to finishing in the top four.

“I have certainly been there before as have a few of the other lads,” Dawson said.

“It was devastating the way we lost at West Ham on the last day of the season and missed out fourth spot. The lads all want to play in the Champions League, it is as simple as that.

“If we keep putting performances in like the Chelsea win and like we did on Wednesday, I don’t see why not.

“ We have got some big games as have the other teams in and around us so it is an exciting finish.”

Sisa 3 pertandingan harus dilahap semua oleh United. Praktis tinggal Spurs yang kemungkinan besar bisa mengganggu ambisi united, di atas kertas dua lawn tersisa gw rasa bisa diatasi.
United patut waspada terhadap Bale - Modric - Defoe, ketiganya kerap membahayakan pertahanan seperti yang ditunjukan saat menundukan Chelsea lalu. Kunci ketiganya dan lebih banyak mengurung permainan Spurs agar tidak berkembang.

United bisa menang dengan skor yang cukup tipis antara 1-0 atau 2-0 sambil berharap Chelsea kembali terpeleset!

Neville agak ragu dgn speednya yg udh mulai melambat, sedangkan RDS bisa diandalkan untuk mengcounter serangan spurs yg cepat. Rio juga diharapkan bisa tampil lagi di match ini. di lini tengah, mungkin Valencia dan Nani bisa dimainkan dari awal, sementara Fletcher ditemani Gibson dan PJS. Depan udh pasti WR10. mungkin jadinya kaya gini kali ya?

Michael Carrick has said he will have to cut his emotions with Tottenham ahead of Man United's must-win game against them on Saturday.

The Reds midfielder, who moved to Old Trafford from White Hart Lane in an £18.6million deal, has been firmly behind his former club over the past week after watching them defeat United's main title rivals Arsenal and Chelsea on home soil. However it is United's turn to face Harry Redknapp's men at Old Trafford this weekend as they look to defeat the Londoners to keep their Premier League title bid alive.

"Your emotions change from week-to-week depending on who is playing," said Carrick.

"It is funny how the fixtures have come together. At the start of the season you could never have predicted the scenario that has unfolded.

"You are supporting one team one week and playing against them the next. That is the nature of the game."

Meanwhile Carrick claims United will need to be at their best against Spurs to secure three points and pile the pressure on Chelsea, who face Stoke on Sunday.

He added: "Tottenham have been around that fourth spot all season.

"The squad they have assembled over a number of years is really top class.

"We are at the business end of the season now and you have to give them credit.

"They have put in some excellent performances after the disappointment of that FA semi-final defeat by Portsmouth."

tak usah khawatir jika merujuk penampilan backfour kita ketika melawan city,, mereka cukup sempurna,,, bahkan evans sudah layak bermain regular first team.. dia tenang sekali menjaga wilayahnya dan sudah tidak pernah melakukan blunder2 gak penting lagi seperti dulu... banyak kemajuan yg sudah diperlihatkan evans sejauh ini... pavluchenko-defoe menurut gw biasa aja,,, mereka sangat bergantung dari umpan2 matang rekan2nya.... buktinya ketika melawan chelsea, duet ini tidak bisa berbuat banyak walopun chelsea bermain dengan 10 orang.. sesekali mendapat bola matang, tetapi yg bersangkutan tidak bisa melakukakn finishing dengan baik....... jadi kesimpiulannya gw percaya backfour kita bisa meredam duet ini..

VIVAnews - Manchester United mulai mengincar pemain muda yang akan direkrut di awal musim 2010-2011. Salah satunya adalah pemain Tottenham Hostspur yang baru berusia 20 tahun, Gareth Bale. Ya, pada tanggal yang ditetapkan, MU akan meladeni Spurs dalam lanjutan Premier League di Old Tarfford. Seperti dilansir Express Uk, Kamis 22 April 2010, ada kemungkinan kesepakatan awal dilakukan sebelum pertandingan berlangsung. Dilaporkan kalau MU siap melepas £20 juta (Rp 278 miliar) untuk mendaratkan Bale di Theatre of Dream.

Tottenham Hotspur dan Manchester United pekan lalu terlibat simbiosis mutualisme. Akhir pekan ini hal itu lenyap tak bersisa karena keduanya harus saling bunuh demi mengejar misinya masing-masing.

Keberhasilan MU memangkas selisih dari pimpinan klasemen Liga Primer menjadi satu poin saja tak terlepas dari kemenangan 2-1 Spurs atas Chelsea. Uniknya, Spurs juga diuntungkan oleh kemenangan 1-0 MU atas CIty yang bikin Lily Whites bisa duduk di posisi empat klasemen.

Akhir pekan ini, kedua tim justru akan saling berhadapan setelah hanya sepekan sebelumnya punya hubungan yang saling menguntungkan. Spurs akan melawat ke markas MU dengan tujuan meneruskan performa luar biasanya.

Tepat sebelum menghadapi MU, Spurs memang sudah dua kali beruntun melakukan gebrakan dahsyat. Bertempat di White Hart Lane, Arsenal dan Chelsea sukses Spurs gebuk dengan skor serupa, 2-1. Bassong admits he has never won at Old Trafford, either with Newcastle United or Tottenham Hotspur, but is hopeful their current form can continue against Manchester United.

Despite many questioning the credentials of Sir Alex Ferguson’s side this season, the Tottenham Hotspur stalwart suggest the fact they are still in with a chance of retaining the Premier League title indicates little is wrong with Manchester United.

Tottenham Hotspur have given Manchester United a huge lift by beating Arsenal and Chelsea in their last two games but Alex Ferguson's side will hope that a more historical formline prevails at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Thanks to Spurs' 2-1 win over Chelsea and their own last-gasp win over Manchester City last week, United are now one point behind Carlo Ancelotti's team, who host Stoke City on Sunday.

Tottenham's dream double has put them in pole position for fourth place but the odds of them making it three memorable and hugely important wins in a row, and knocking United off course, are long.

They have not beaten them for nine years and have to go back to 1989 for their last success at Old Trafford.

Their last two performances, however, have quickly erased the disappointment of their FA Cup semi-final defeat by Portsmouth.

"If we are not afraid we can win at United," said striker Roman Pavlyuchenko. "They are a superbly tuned machine, but on our current form we should not be frightened. We have a difficult finish to the season, with two journeys to Manchester. We have a depressing recent run of results at Old Trafford and we need to correct it.

"I'm sure the Manchester City game (on May 5) will prove decisive in determining who gets fourth."

Chelsea, who have a three-better goal difference than United, must have thought the title was coming their way before last Saturday's double setback of their defeat by Spurs and Paul Scholes' stoppage time winner for United at Eastlands.

"What happened on Saturday was disappointing, especially with Manchester United's result," said midfielder Frank Lampard.

Form guide: Having impressively dispatched two title contenders in the last couple of weeks, Tottenham are now in pole position to secure the fourth Champions League spot. Chelsea and Arsenal both fell on Spurs’ sword at White Hart Lane as Harry Redknapp’s men emphatically responded to their FA Cup semi-final defeat to Portsmouth. But their record at Old Trafford is dismal – they have never won at United in the Premier League era. The Reds are right back in contention for the title after the joyous last-gasp triumph in the Manchester derby last weekend. Ins and outs: Wayne Rooney hasn’t completed a full 90 minutes in the last three games, but is hopeful of starting again. Rio Ferdinand has returned to full fitness after missing the derby with a groin problem, while Wes Brown, who hasn’t played since suffering a broken metatarsal against Wolves on March 6, is also back in contention. Wes Brown returns to the Manchester United squad for Saturday's Barclays Premier League encounter with Tottenham at Old Trafford.

Fergie concedes this is the best Spurs side he’s faced...

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has fired a warning at Premier League leaders Chelsea, stating that the Red Devils have been boosted after their late win against Manchester City last weekend.

Ferguson believes that the derby win has lifted his players, and created a new sense of urgency. According to The Guardian, Ferguson said: "There has been a lift in the camp this week."

"There has always been a great atmosphere in our training over the years but then you get a lift like last week and the change is very noticeable. It's been very competitive.

"The players are lifted and charged up. I trust them and I hope they can do it for me again."

However, the Red Devils boss was cautious and in complimentary mood ahead of the looming clash with Tottenham Hotspur. Ferguson believes that Spurs are playing their best football of the season, and have built a team which he considers as the strongest since he's faced during his tenure at Old Trafford.

"I think they are the best Tottenham team of my time in England," he added.

"On the one hand I congratulate them for beating Chelsea but, on the other hand, we now face the problems that Chelsea faced and we have to play against them."

Spurs have won only five of their 63 league matches against Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal since the turn of the Millennium.

Two of those victories have come in the last 10 days, and a hat-trick at the expense of Manchester United would be quite some feat - especially when you consider it is a barely believable 66 matches since Spurs won away at one of the Big Four.

Manchester returned to the top of the Premier League with a crucial victory over spirited Tottenham at Old Trafford.

Ryan Giggs put the Reds ahead from the penalty spot only for Ledley King to head the visitors level. However, United regained the lead thanks to Nani's sublime finish with nine minutes remaining.

Giggs sealed the win with his second spot-kick after 86 minutes.

United are now two points ahead of Chelsea having played a game more, with Carlo Ancelotti's team facing Stoke at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

As they had not lost to the Londoners since 1989 and Tottenham had not beaten a ’big-four’ club on their travels for an incredible 66 games, a visit from Harry Redknapp’s men is normally an occasion for United to relish.

However, in beating Arsenal and Chelsea in their previous two games Tottenham had not only blown the title race wide open again and re-established their own top-four credentials, they had also confirmed this particular Spurs vintage as the best in Ferguson’s 23 years at Old Trafford.

Wayne Rooney’s absence further strengthened anxiety in home ranks which the opening 45 minutes did little to dispel.

It took the hosts half an hour to manage their first effort on goal, when Antonio Valencia ignored the pleas for a pass from Dimitar Berbatov and went for goal himself, bringing a smart low save out of Heurelho Gomes.

As a point would have been a decent return for Tottenham in their quest for that elusive Champions League place, Redknapp would have been far more pleased than old mate Ferguson with how the opening period panned out.

The second period was far more entertaining, which took its first significant twist 13 minutes after the re-start when Berbatov burst past Benoit Assou-Ekotto.

United goal

Although he appeared to have run down a cul-de-sac on the edge of the Spurs box, Berbatov remained aware of Evra’s presence.

Assou-Ekotto knew the Frenchman was there too and when Berbatov supplied Evra with a impudent back-heel. The defender panicked, lunged in and sent his opponent flying.

There was more debate about who would take the spot-kick than whether it should be given.

Giggs assumed the responsibility his role as captain demanded. It was not the most clinical of finishes but to Old Trafford’s relief, he found the bottom right-hand corner of Gomes’ goal.

With Valencia and Patrice Evra departing due to injury and ill-health respectively and Aaron Lennon arriving for the visitors, the pendulum swung back Tottenham’s way.

Given the significance of the equaliser, Ferguson would have been fuming at how easily it was conceded.

King brushed aside Michael Carrick far too easily as he met Bale’s corner with a firm header that Rafael would have cleared if he had remained by the post.

Instead he moved away and despite his acrobatics, the Brazilian was unable to keep it out.

At that point, Tottenham looked the more likely winners as Peter Crouch reinforced their attacking options.

But from virtually nowhere, United struck again 10 minutes from time as their own substitute Macheda collected Darren Fletcher’s pass, then fed Nani.

There was not much space but he kept his cool and as Gomes raced out, he superbly chipped him.

The green and gold clad United supporters were still celebrating when Wilson Palacios clambered all over Nani four minutes from time, offering Giggs another spot-kick, which he buried into the opposite corner.

Manchester - Bermain di kandang sendiri, Manchester United sukses menekuk Tottenham Hotspur 3-1. Hasil ini membawa MU memuncaki klasemen Liga Inggris menggeser Chelsea.

Dua dari tiga gol MU yang terjadi di Old Trafford, Sabtu (24/4/2010) malam WIB, diciptakan Ryan Giggs dari kotak penalti, sementara satu lainnya dicetak oleh Nani. Satu-satunya gol Spurs disumbangkan oleh Ledley King.

Dengan hasil ini, MU naik ke puncak klasemen dengan koleksi nilai 79, unggul dua poin atas Chelsea yang baru akan bermain hari Minggu melawan Stoke City. Sementara Spurs tetap di urutan empat dengan nilai 64, namun posisi mereka terancam digeser City yang baru akan bermain beberapa saat lagi.

Saat ini Spurs hanya memiliki keunggulan dua poin atas City yang ada di urutan lima.

Jalannya Pertandingan

Dengan mengandalkan Dimitar Berbatov sendirian di lini depan, MU beberapa kali memiliki peluang. Berba sendiri mendapatkan peluang di menit 29, namun tendangannya di depan gawang berhasil diblok Ledley King.

Cerita bermula kala Spurs menjamu Arsenal pada 14 April silam. Dalam pertandingan yang bertajuk derby London Utara ini, pasukan arahan Harry Redknapp tersebut sukses membungkam Arsenal 2-1. Hasil yang kemudian membuat The Gunners tertinggal dalam perburuan gelar juara.

Selang tiga hari, The Lilywhites kembali makan korban. Chelsea yang tengah butuh kemenangan untuk memantapkan posisinya di puncak klasemen mereka bekuk 2-1. Imbasnya, The Blues hanya tinggal unggul satu angka atas MU.

Kini, Sabtu (24/4/2010), giliran MU yang menjadi lawan Spurs. Meski sempat memberikan perlawanan dengan menahan 'Setan Merah' 1-1 sampai menit 80, Ledley King cs akhirnya keok juga. Mereka tak mampu melanjutkan ketangguhan atas Arsenal dan Chelsea. Spurs takluk 1-3.

Sir Alex Ferguson is confident both will be fine by next weekend, although concedes he doesn’t really know what is wrong with them.

“We had a bit of sickness with two or three players today, but we’ve got eight days to recover, so hopefully we’ll be okay,” said Ferguson. “Evra just felt it yesterday, but he felt okay to play and it just happened. Two late goals earned Manchester United a precious 3-1 win over Tottenham, but it owed more to the poor defending of Harry Redknapp's side than United's attacking prowess, according to the Spurs manager.

The win puts United top of the Premier League - for 24 hours at least - as Chelsea, now two points behind, host Stoke City tomorrow.

Ledley King's header 20 minutes from time levelled Ryan Giggs' penalty, but a late Nani chip and another Giggs penalty minutes later wrapped up the points for Sir Alex Ferguson's side.

"We had an opportunity to come and get something today but we didn't play as well as have done in the last few weeks [against Arsenal and Chelsea]," Redknapp told Sky Sports.

Famous wins over London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal in recent weeks had moved Spurs fourth, but if Manchester City win at the Gunners later on Saturday, they will leapfrog Redknapp's side.

"With 10 minutes to go at 1-1 you're looking to come away with a point," the Spurs gaffer added.

"We've given away two sloppy penalties and the other goal - we let him [Nani] run through. We didn't defend well enough, it cost us in the end.

yups setuju, gomes jitu menebak arah pinalty giggsy tapi tetep sesepuh ga sembarangan..

gw setuju tuh soal rafael...., mainnya top bgts...., sebenarnya pemain yang satu ini bagus bgt mainnya tapi ya karena masih muda, emosi kadang gak terkontrol, sebagai pembelajaran deh.

gw mau komen juga soal berba...
soal passing, olah bola dan penguasaan bola berba emang jagonya, tapi seorang striker juga harus punya naluri mencetak gol, gw mau bahas peluang berba babak pertama yang diblok ama ledley king...,
kondisi serupa persis terjadi waktu scholes nyetak gol kegawang wolves, scholes gak langsung shoot tapi dribel dulu menghindari penjagaan/blok lawan, setelah bebas baru shoot... n goolll....
kondisi itu membuktikan berba yang tidak punya naluri striker untuk mencetak gol, gw pikir kalo berba bisa dribel dikit aja (asal gak kepleset aja....:peace: ) mungkin hasilnya bisa lain....

mudah2an kedepannya berba bisa lebih tenang n cetak gol lagi (kalo blum pindah dari :muscarf:)
