Le Havre hit out at Man United over Pogba signing

Manchester United have completed the signing of French starlet Paul Pogba, although his club Le Havre have hit out at the Premier League champions for their behaviour.

The Red Devils' transfer policy has caused uproar with his former employers and the French side have called on the football authorities to act in order to prevent similar situations arising in the future.

"Le Havre want to express their indignation at the actions of Manchester United officials and their pursuit of Paul Pogba," read a statement on the club's official website.

"Paul Pogba, his parents and Le Havre were bound to a contract called a 'non-solicitation agreement' from autumn 2006.

"At the end of that contract, the three parties agreed to sign a trainee contract when the player matched certain age and scholarship criteria, taking him through to the end of the 2009/10 season.

"However, the player and his parents have refused to fulfil the agreement because Manchester United have offered big money to the parents to get their son to England.

"While a lot of voices have started to be heard coming out of the EU, governments, Fifa and Uefa against 'minor slave trade', Manchester United have not hesitated to uproot a 16-year-old kid."

Le Havre - Manchester United telah menuntaskan transfer seorang remaja Prancis, Paul Pogba. Klub Le Havre yang sebelumnya dihuni pemain sepakbola berusia 16 tahun itu pun berang karena merasa kecurian.

Le havre merasa bahwa pihaknya sudah memiliki sebuah kesepakatan khusus dengan Pogba yang akan membuat kapten tim nasional Prancis U-16 tersebut bergeming sampai dengan akhir musim 2009/10.

"Le Havre ingin menyatakan rasa berang atas tindakan ofisial Manchester United dan pengejaran mereka terhadap Paul Pogba," terang Le Havre di situs resminya, seperti dilansir Sky Sports.

Keberhasilan MU merekrut Pogba pun bikin Le Havre meradang. Mereka kini meminta kepada para otoritas dunia sepakbola agar hal serupa tak terulang lagi di masa depan.

"Namun demikian, si pemain dan orangtuanya sudah menolak kesepakatan yang telah ada karena Manchester United sudah menawarkan uang dalam jumlah besar kepada orangtua Pogba agar melepas putranya ke Inggris."

"Di saat banyak suara-suara yang mulai dilontarkan oleh Uni-Eropa, pemerintah, FIFA dan UEFA terhadap pelarangan adanya 'perdagangan perbudakan minor', Manchester United justru tidak sungkan untuk mencatut remaja 16 tahun," sergah Le Havre.

Untuk mendapatkan Pogba, MU kabarnya memenangi persaingan dengan Arsenal yang konon juga jadi peminat. Pogba menambah jajaran pemain muda yang beberapa tahun belakangan direkrut MU, seperti Giuseppe Rossi, Federico Macheda dan Davide Petrucci.

Manchester United have dismissed claims they have 'stolen' teenage midfielder Paul Pogba from French club Le Havre.

United have been accused of offering 'very large' sums to the 16-year-old's parents to induce him to end a contract he has until the end of this season.

An angry Le Havre statement said: "This act is even more unacceptable as it comes from a club with such stature."

But a United spokesman told BBC Sport: "It is complete nonsense. Everything has been done within Uefa guidelines."

Europe's governing body is keen to introduce a rule preventing the international transfer of players under the age of 18 after member associations, clubs, leagues and players agreed to the principle at a March meeting.

After that meeting Uefa president Michel Platini said: "The question of minors is above all a moral and ethical issue. We have a duty to take concrete steps to protect young players and training clubs.

"I am delighted that the key stakeholders of the European football family have a common view on this subject and I welcome the signature of this important resolution."

Players from European Union countries are able to move to Britain on academy or scholarship contracts at 16, and to sign full professional contracts at 17.

By signing a player under the age of 18, the buying club minimises the level of compensation the selling club will get.

Le Havre, who were relegated to the French second division last season, claim an agreement between the club, Pogba and his parents was in place for the player to stay until the end of the 2009/2010 season.

A statement - under the heading 'Manchester United steal Paul Pogba from HAC (Le Havre)' - on the club's website said: "Le Havre wishes to express its indignation regarding the dealings of Manchester United's directors in relation to the young Paul Pogba.

"The player and his parents refused to keep the arrangement because Manchester United offered very high sums of money to the parents of the (player) with the aim of obtaining the transfer of their son.

"At a time when numerous parties - including at European Union level, governmental (level), or within Fifa or Uefa - are speaking out against the 'trading of minors,' Manchester United does not hesitate to uproot a 16-year-old kid."

One of the most highly-rated teenagers in France, Pogba has captained the national team at Under-16 level.

Le Havre have an outstanding reputation in developing young players, nurturing players like Real Madrid's Lassana Diarra and Wigan's Charles N'Zogbia as well as Atletico Madrid's Florent Sinama-Pongolle, who moved from the French club to Liverpool, before going to Spain.

It is not the first time United have been criticised in their pursuit of Europe's promising youngsters.

Italian club Lazio were unhappy over United's pursuit and signing of Federico Macheda, who was 16 when he moved to Old Trafford in 2007.
"They get the parents on board, giving them handsome compensation, offering them important jobs, which shouldn't happen," Lazio president Claudio Lotito was quoted as telling the Times last season.

"Because with a 15-year-old it's unthinkable that a club should give millions of euros to his parents, practically buying the parents, and this is a real problem: the parents sign on behalf of the players.

"We did everything we could to try to keep him. Unfortunately the rules don't allow us - and this is a shameful situation - to put players under 16 under contract.

"Therefore these players are regularly stolen from our club, outside of any respect for any ethical code."

Macheda played a key role in United's successful defence of their Premier League title last season, coming off the bench to score the winner in the crucial 3-2 win over Aston Villa in April.

Jean-Pierre Louvel accused United of “pillaging” the Normandy side’s famed youth system for one of their brightest prospects, while the club issued an official statement “expressing our anger at Manchester United’s directors concerning Paul Pogba.”

Le Havre have also threatened to report United to Fifa over their pursuit of the France U16 captain.

The Premier League side have been accused of offering “very large” sums to the player’s parents as an inducement to break his trainee contract.

United are adamant the signing was conducted entirely in accordance with Fifa and Uefa regulations, with a club spokesman calling the claims “nonsense.”

Sources at OId Trafford have moved to distance the club from a £25 million bid for Valencia winger David Silva and a £40 million offer for his club and international team-mate David Villa.

The Scot has repeatedly stated that he does not intend to add to Luis Antonio Valencia, Michael Owen and Gabriel Obertan as his senior summer signings, while the club have also committed to a policy of not spending large amounts of money on players over the age of 27, ruling out Villa.

It had been suggested United would meet with Valencia officials to discuss the signing of Silva before the sides’ friendly at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Ferguson has spent just £20 million this summer after receiving four times that sum for Cristiano Ronaldo's transfer to Real Madrid.

MANCHESTER, KOMPAS.com - Manchester United menolak tudingan Le Havre yang menyebut tim Inggris itu melanggar aturan karena menyerobot pemain muda Perancis, Paul Pogba.

Le Havre berang terhadap sikap MU karena juara Liga Inggris merayu orangtua Pogba dengan uang besar agar mau melepas pemain 16 tahun itu ke Old Trafford. Melalui pernyataan resmi mereka, klub yang pernah mendidik Lassana Diarra dan Florent Sinama Pongolle itu meminta agar FIFA dan UEFA membuat peraturan yang melarang sebuah klub merekrut pemain di bawah 18 tahun.

"Kelakuan ini sangat tidak bisa diterima karena itu berasal dari sebuah klub papan atas. Le Havre ingin menyampaikan amarahnya atas kesepakatan direktur Manchester United sehubungan dengan pemain muda Paul Pogba," sebut pernyataan itu.

"Pemain dan orangtuanya menolak untuk mempertahankan komitmen (dengan Le Havre) karena Manchester United menawarkan uang sangat besar kepada orangtua dengan tujuan mengizinkan transfer anak mereka."

"Setan Merah" langsung bereaksi untuk menanggapi tudingan klub asal Perancis itu. Menurut mereka, apa yang telah mereka lakukan sudah sesuai dengan peraturan dan disetujui oleh asosiasi sepak bola yang lebih tinggi.

"Itu benar-benar omong kosong. Semuanya sudah sesuai petunjuk UEFA," sanggah seorang juru bicara MU seperti dikutip The Sun.

Kecaman kepada MU ini bukan pertama kali terjadi. Lazio juga pernah mempermasalahkan sikap MU ketika mereka membawa Federico Macheda pada 2007. Klub-klub Inggris memang diperkenankan menggaet pemain 16 tahun, tapi mereka baru boleh meneken kontrak sebagai pemain profesional ketika sudah berusia 17 tahun.

Manchester United could be the next club hit with a transfer ban after being accused of snatching another young French star from his club.

FIFA are investigating allegations made by Le Havre that the Barclays Premier League champions offered cash to France Under 16 captain Paul Pogba to lure him to Old Trafford.

United argue that Pogba was not under contract with the French club when he signed for United in July. Le Havre claim otherwise and have lodged a complaint with FIFA.

A statement from Le Havre said: ‘United offered very high sums of money to the parents with the aim of obtaining the transfer of their son.

‘At a time when parties are speaking out against the “trading of minors”, Manchester United does not hesitate to uproot a 16-year-old kid.’

United deny the allegations. A club spokesman said: ‘It is complete nonsense. Everything has been done within FIFA guidelines.’

Manchester United are adamant their recent capture of French youngster Paul Pogba was conducted 'within UEFA guidelines' in the wake of Chelsea's shock transfer ban.

Under a FIFA punishment imposed on Thursday, Chelsea have been prevented from signing new players in the next two transfer windows, meaning they must wait until January 2011 to strengthen their squad.

The ban relates to the signing of Lens youngster Gael Kakuta in 2007 after FIFA ruled that Chelsea induced the player to break his contract with the French club. However, the London side have pledged to mount the 'strongest appeal possible' against the decision.

United's conduct in the signing of Pogba from Le Havre has also been scrutinised as the French club were furious to see the youth international move to Old Trafford during the summer, but the English champions are certain they have done nothing wrong.

"It is complete nonsense," a spokesman for United said. "Everything has been done within UEFA guidelines."

Le Havre managing director Alain Belsoeur is determined to fight United though, telling The Times: "We are still pursuing our case. It is a very serious case. We are confident that we'll win because it is in the best interests not just of our club but of sport.

"We spend 5 million euros [£4.3m] on our academy every year out of a turnover of 12 million euros [£10.5m]. It is a huge investment. We do that to give a chance to our players to develop for our first team, not to be an academy for others.

"What is the point of investing in an academy if the players leave at 16? This is clearly a message from FIFA to protect the education system.''

Manchester United lured Paul Pogba from Le Havre with the promise of £15,500-a-month when he turns 17 next year - and payments of more than £85,000 each to the French teenager's separated parents, according to the Ligue 2 side's president.

Le Havre president Jean-Pierre Louvel claims that the Barlays Premier League champions also offered to buy Pogba a house near Manchester in exchange for his signature.

The allegations came as Le Havre called for an urgent FIFA enquiry into the inducements offered to Pogba, who was born in Paris, following the decision to hit Chelsea with a transfer ban over their signing of Lens youngster Gael Kakuta.

Le Havre president Jean-Pierre Louvel said: ‘They tempt the parents. In the case of Paul Pogba, it was fairly simple.

'One hundred thousands euros for the father, one hundred thousand euros for the mother, and a house.

‘France respects a certain number of rules, but English clubs do not respect anything.’

Le Havre managing director Alain Belsoeur claims to have documentation showing United offered inducements to Pogba, and has vowed to include it in submissions to FIFA.

United deny the allegations and argue that Pogba was not under contract with Le Havre when he signed for them in July.

On Friday, a FIFA spokesman revealed that the game's world governing body were still waiting for an official complaint from Le Havre over the alleged approach.

Manchester United chief executive David Gill has warned Le Havre not to accuse the Reds of wrongdoing over the Paul Pogba transfer.

Gill feels offended by the suggestions and has stressed that United did everything through the proper channels.

"It is an insult by Le Havre to suggest that Manchester United and the employees of Manchester United have paid the players' parents and bought the parents a house," said Gill.

"We will not accept the good name of Manchester United being trawled around on websites and the press to say that we have done these things which we are not allowed to do and we would never do.

"We've done everything, we think, by the book.

"We are not intimidating Le Havre. We have no intention of intimidating Le Havre."

The French outfit have threatened to take the matter to Fifa but Gill has responded, "They can do whatever they feel is appropriate. We can defend our case in the football bodies. We are very comfortable doing that."

PAUL POGBA'S agent has insisted a bunch of flowers — NOT money — sealed his client's move to Manchester United.

The 17-year-old Frenchman's switch from Le Havre to Old Trafford led to his former club threatening the Premier League champions with legal action.

Le Havre say they will take the case to FIFA, who recently banned Chelsea from signing players until 2011, subject to appeal, after they were deemed to have illegally signed Lens starlet Gael Kakuta.

But Gael Mahe, Pogba's agent, said: "Of course, it is a nice contract. But not only money makes a young player and his parents change their country.

"They also look at the way people talk to them, the seriousness of negotiation, the respect showed.

"Did you know what United sent to the Paul's mother? Not a big cheque, but a bunch of flowers. It cost 30 Euros but the mother has been moved. She felt trust.

"The father received a book about the club's history, while Paul got a shirt with No 6 and his name in the back. It is a symbol, but they felt United respected them."

Pogba's mother Yeo also dismissed claims her family received a new house as part of their move to England.

She said: "That house story made people laugh in the hotel. Why would we be in a hotel if we had been given a house? I can assure you Manchester United didn't give us anything.

"Le Havre didn't take care of my son. When Paul missed classes because he played a tournament with the team, we asked for him to catch it up but Le Havre didn't care.

"We understood the club didn't have faith in him. They proposed contracts to other same-age players, but nothing to Paul. Trust was broken."

"Bertolak belakang dengan apa yang Manchester United tulis dalam situs resminya, FIFA belum memberikan validasi transfer terkait Paul Pogba, tapi sebagaimana mereka bisa melakukan hal semacam ini, mereka telah meminta sertifikat internasional yang bersifat sementara (terkait kepindahan Pogba)," demikian pernyataan resmi Le Havre di situs resminya.

Kasus MU vs Le Havre memperebutkan Pogba sudah dimuali sejak sekitar sebulan lalu. Klub Prancis itu menuduh MU menawarkan jumlah uang yang sangat besar saat sang pemain masih terikat dengan mereka. Sementara pihak MU mengklaim kalau pesepakbola yang berposisi sebagai gelandang bertahan itu sedang tidak terikat oleh klub manapun saat menyepakati kontrak yang mereka berikan.

MU sempat terancam dijatuhi hukuman berat seperti yang diterima Chelsea. Dianggap melakukan pembelian secara ilegal terhadap Gael Kakuta dari Lens, The Blues dilarang berpartisipasi di dua jendela transfer (Januari dan Juli 2010).

Paul Pogba will help Manchester United launch another Youth Cup campaign tomorrow with coach Paul McGuinness full of admiration for the way he coped with being at the centre of a tug-of-war with French club Le Havre.

The 16-year-old starlet was cleared to play for United by FIFA earlier this year after Le Havre had complained they offered financial inducements to sign him.

United always rejected the claims but as the arguments raged, it could not have been easy for Pogba to maintain focus.

Now though, he is consistently producing performances which emphasise why United were so keen to have him at Old Trafford.

'He is a very impressive player who has a lot of stature but also a lot of ability,' said McGuinness. 'But the most impressive thing has been the way he has handled all the attention.

'In a way it is part of being at Manchester United. Can you handle that attention? But his personality has been just what you would want. Without that it would have been very hard to make such a big change and have all the attention but he has taken it all in his stride.'

United have won the tournament a record nine times and take on Birmingham at Altrincham's Moss Lane ground bidding to reach double figures.

However, since their last success in 2003 - a team that included Kieran Richardson, Phil Bardsley and Chris Eagles - local rivals City have gained more prominence, reaching two finals.

And last term, United were knocked out at the first stage after a five-goal thriller with Chelsea at Old Trafford. 'We all get a buzz when the Youth Cup comes around,' said McGuinness.

'It is exciting. I see these lads training every day and I know what they are capable of. If they really bring that out in a game we could get a really good performance. Of course there is a lot of additional pressure and nerves to take into account which means you don't always get it.

'But that is only natural. We go into these games with a lot of anticipation because it is a little test for them. We want to see whether they can pass it and move on to the next one.'

MANCHESTER United's Under 18s coach Paul McGuinness has revealed encouraging news on the progress of midfielder Paul Pogba.

The young Reds travel to Burnley on Wednesday for their FA Youth Cup fourth-round tie at Turf Moor.

In defeating Birmingham in the last round, United identified themselves as one of the favourites, with Pogba - the French youngster Rennes were so unhappy about losing last summer - among the scorers.

McGuinness is delighted at the way Pogba has put the controversy surrounding his arrival at Old Trafford behind him as he looks to catch Sir Alex Ferguson's eye.

"I am really delighted with Paul," said McGuinness.:-bd

"It has not been easy for him but at least now all the talk is about his football.

"He knows, as do all the rest of our young players, what the Youth Cup means to Manchester United.

"The number of top players who have won the competition goes right back to Sir Matt Busby's days.

"So, while we would never do anything other than concentrate on our next game, knowing Burnley have an excellent youth set-up themselves, that carrot is always there at the end."

Le Havre have settled their dispute with Manchester United over Paul Pogba's controversial move to Old Trafford.

"Le Havre and Manchester United are satisfied to have reached an agreement regarding Paul Pogba's integration to the Manchester United squad," the Ligue two side said yesterday.

Le Havre had accused the Premier League club of illegally poaching the 17-year-old Frenchman from their academy last August while United said they had not broken any rules.

Le Havre had asked the world governing body Fifa to investigate the case of Pogba, who they said had agreed to join them only to leave for United.

The case was similar to that of league rivals Chelsea, who were banned by Fifa from signing players until January 2011 for improper conduct when they acquired Gaël Kakuta from the French Ligue 1 club Lens in 2007. The ban was later lifted after the two clubs reached an agreement.

The unseemly wrangle over Paul Pogba's transfer from Le Havre to Manchester United was finally resolved last week, after an undisclosed agreement was reached following his move in July 2009. This was a relief after the last similar saga, involving Gael Kakuta, but as with Chelsea's French prodigy, spoke volumes of a coveted young prospect. So what can the Premier League expect from its latest young import from across the Channel?

Pogba was spotted by Le Havre's chief scout Franck Sale in his home district of Sarcelles, in the suburbs of northern Paris, at the age of 13. Sale wasted little time in recruiting him to the much-vaunted academy that has produced the likes of Vikash Dhorasoo and Charles N'Zogbia in the past. "I was impressed by his attitude," Sale told Goal.com. "He was already like a footballer and had great game intelligence for his age."

Current academy director Frederic Lipka arrived at the club when Pogba was 14, and the youngster made a similarly immediate impression on his new boss. "I was sure of the quality that I was seeing," he said to Goal.com. "He was a player who was already very efficient at a very young age. There were others that were also good, but the amount by which he was progressing was striking. Straight away, I thought when he reached 17 or 18, he would be ready to step up to the top level."

What was it that made Pogba a cut above his peers? "The quality of his technique and his size," said Lipka. "He was still growing, he was still developing as an athlete, and he was still uncovering his full technical potential."

These strides were quickly recognised at national level, with Pogba making his debut for France under-16s at the age of 15. His impressive displays at junior international level had already begun to garner comparisons with similarly robust France midfielders. "You can see a mix of [Patrick] Vieira and [Abou] Diaby in Pogba," observed Sale, "a powerful and commanding player who is still good at moving with the ball and dribbling."

Lipka agreed. "Absolutely. They have the same style. The difference between him and Vieira at that age - and I didn't know Patrick Vieira at that age - might be in terms of mentality. On the pitch, Pogba's a player who takes responsibility, who dictates. He leads the play, and he's a leader of men."

Pogba's tough streak on the pitch masked an approachable side which made him a popular pupil at the academy, according to Lipka. "He was a charming lad when he was at our academy, very likeable," he said. "He was emotional when he left, because he felt good here and was leaving into the great unknown. I hope he goes in at a good level, because he is going to do great things. On a human level, I have memories of a very likeable boy. There were never any problems with him. He has a great attitude."

His departure was perhaps inevitable, as he garnered accolades for his displays with France's under-17 side, pushing himself ever further forward as the sort of strong central midfielder that Ligue 1 seems to tailor-make for the Premier League nowadays. Lipka hopes that the big move hasn't come too soon for him.

"The problem is his departure wasn't expected," Lipka lamented. "It's a shame that the Manchester United machine came knocking on the door, because at his age, it's a bit of a gamble for him. I hope that he will get the chance to reach a high sporting level in Manchester." Sale has faith in his young prodigy to bridge the gap. "He knows English clubs are very demanding and he has the right kind of attitude to succeed there."

Pogba still has some progress to make, as Sale admits. "His one weakness during his time at Le Havre was stamina," he said, "but he did show signs of progression and surely, alongside coaching staff at Manchester United, he will improve."

Lipka hopes that he will get a chance in reserve-team football sooner rather than later, so he will continue his current rate of development. "He's the type of player that is sought-after, especially in England," he recognised, "and with his physical power he should adapt well to the game there."

After the compensation saga, Manchester United will certainly hope that this is the case. Michael Essien may have slipped through the Old Trafford net, but Sir Alex Ferguson hopes that in Pogba, he has snared the equivalent from Ligue 1's next generation.

As Manchester United set about winning the European Cup for the fourth time in their glittering history, the future stars of Old Trafford are already being bred to secure more high-profile silverware in the future.

One youngster currently earning his stripes in the famed youth system is Paul Pogba, a teenager FourFourTwo claims could be better than Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira.

The French midfielder seemingly has all the attributes to make his first team bow at Old Trafford next season; a languid stride, strong in the tackle, good in the air, a neat passer and an eye for goal.

The latter has been demonstrated to devastating effect this season for both the United under 18s and the Red Devils’ reserve side.

For the youth team, the 18-year-old fired in a quite stunning effort from the edge of the area against West Brom, before bettering that goal for the United second-string against their Portsmouth counterparts.

After the Pompey defenders failed to effectively clear a cross, Pogba latched onto the loose ball about 20 yeards from goal and curled an unstoppable right-footed striker over the helpless goalkeeper and just inside the left-hand post.

Not only was the goal enough to send his United teammates into raptures, but Old Trafford supremo Sir Alex Ferguson happened to be in the stands that night to cast a watchful eye over his prodigies.

As FourFourTwo points out, Pogba will have a further chance to impress the United boss by helping his side win the imminent FA Youth Cup final against Sheffield United – a competition the Frenchman has already played a starring role in.

With the likes of Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes coming towards the end of their distinguished Old Trafford careers, Ferguson will be looking for the next crop of Academy graduates to turn themselves into the future United legends. And it looks like they might have found one in Pogba.

Step forward Paul Pogba, a 18-year-old with all the qualities of a young Patrick Vieira, and arguably a few more. Having been plucked from near obscurity at Ligue 2's Le Harve, Pogba looks set for a bright future under Ferguson's tutelage.

The youngster arrived at Old Trafford in 2009, amid a spat with parent club Le Havre. The French side cried foul over the transfer, suggesting The Red Devils had broken a pre-contract agreement in signing elsewhere. United rallied, claiming that the agreement did not prevent clubs from outside France from signing the player. After nearly a year of wrangling the two clubs finally reached an agreement.

The exciting box-to-box midfielder made his debut for Manchester United's Under 18's in October of 2009, and it very quickly became apparent why Manchester United had fought so hard to push the transfer through, despite any possible damage it could do to their reputation. Pogba's powerful, energetic, yet stylish approach to the game make him a perfect fit for English football.

The first thing you notice about the Frenchman is his physique. Pogba is comfortably over six foot and boasts good upper body strength, and a long stride. Yet far from being a big languid unit in the middle of the park, he has a swagger in possession, and is not afraid to dribble, run at defenders or shoot from range.

It was the step up into United's Reserve team where that latter quality was really shown off, when he scored a notable screamer from all of 30 yards against Portsmouth Reserves. The goal impressed all watching, including Sir Alex Ferguson. It's a feat he's repeated a number of occasions, including at international level with France, for whom he is a current Under 19 international.

This season has been another of steady development for Pogba. He has been named in a number of first-team squads, and that will become a more regular occurrence if he continues to work hard at developing his game. The perfect way to show he's on track for a first-team role is to do what United do best - win trophies. Pogba is set to play a key role in the upcoming FA Youth Cup Final against Sheffield United, having previously turned in solid displays in the previous rounds, most notably against Chelsea in the semi-final.

Many fans and pundits have speculated that Ferguson may reshuffle his midfield this summer, introducing some fresh blood to act as competition to the likes of Darren Fletcher, Darron Gibson and Anderson. Paul Pogba will hope to be at the fore-front of those plans, as a new wave of impressive United youngsters make their push for the first-team.

In Paul Scholes' Testimonial Match against the New York Cosmos, the Manchester United supporters had the chance to see Paul Pogba in action with the first-team, and the highly-regarded midfielder undoubtedly impressed.

Pogba arrived at United in a very controversial move from Le Harve, which saw the club have its name dragged through the mud as though they did something wrong with his signing, but it would have been worth the punishment if he lives up to his potential.

It was very fitting to see the young French midfielder go head-to-head against the hated Patrick Viera, because that is the player that he been said to closely resemble - and the similarities were there for all to see.

While he was one of the most hated opponents, the former Arsenal midfielder was one of the best to ever play against United. His battles against Roy Keane were something that the supporters look forward to and they rarely disappointed.

Now instead of having a new Keane, United have a respectable, lovable version of Viera.

In his 26 minute cameo, Pogba teamed up very well with Tom Cleverley, which could give the football world a taste of what Viera and Scholes would have been like if they ever played with one another.

It was a friendly match against an inferior opponent, but it gave the 18-year old a feel of what first team football is like playing in front of packed house. Many young players are often timid when playing on one of football's biggest stages, but not Pogba.

The youngster, who looked to be towering over most of the players on the field, not only showed great composure on the ball, but his movement without it was equally as impressive. A lot of players his age are waiting for their bodies to fill out and catch up with their footballing mind, but standing 6'1" and tipping the scales at around 180 pounds, Pogba is certainly not your average teenager.

While many would think that being so tall and powerful, he would lack the skill, speed and grace that would set him apart from other midfielders - but that could not be further from the case. Pogba can use his long legs to sprint past his midfielder, use his great balance to fend off or even fool them with his perfected pirouette (aka Maradona).

It should go without saying that he is far from being the finished article, but based on pure potential Paul Pogba looks to be the next center midfield stud to come from the Manchester United academy system.

Sir Alex has revealed he is promoting Paul Pogba to the first-team squad after being impressed with the FA Youth Cup-winning midfielder.

The 18-year-old Frenchman replaced Paul Scholes in the Reds legend's testimonial against New York Cosmos and is in the manager's thoughts ahead of the new season. The youngsters at Old Trafford have ensured the manager is in a relaxed mood about his squad ahead of the transfer window closing at the end of the month.

"We've got Darren Fletcher to come back," explained Sir Alex. "Michael Carrick, who tends to develop more around November/December. And we’ve got a young boy Pogba who's showing great promise for us. He came on in a couple of games in terms of progress with the youth team, we’re quite positive about him.

"I mean if we hold Pogba back, what’s going to happen? He’s going to leave. You know, in a couple of years’ time when his contract is going to finish. So we have to give him the opportunity to see how he can do in the first-team and he’s got great ability, plus he’s got the physique and athleticism.

"He is a possibility so, when you take that roll call of players you know, I’m certainly not looking to add anybody. I’ve been saying that for weeks, but you’ve all been writing differently, you’ve all been writing about how I’m going to buy this one, I’m going to buy that one but we’ve said nothing, I’m carrying on with business."

When asked directly if everybody can forget about Wesley Sneijder arriving from Inter Milan, he replied: "You can forget about anyone you like! I’m happy with the young players we’ve got."

In terms of whether the likes of Tom Cleverley, Pogba, and possibly Ravel Morrison and Ryan Tunnicliffe, when he returns from Peterborough, can push the existing first-team midfielders, the manager is realistic about the situation.

"Well, I mean my intention is not to put pressure on anyone," he stressed. "My intention is to get the best team I can for United. There’s an emphasis on young players in the squad and there always has been.

"There’s a case where a young player comes through the ranks and that they can threaten anyone. Because if they have the ability and the temperament, there’s only one thing you can do and that’s play them.

"It happened with Ryan Giggs and Lee Sharpe, who was doing very well at the time, showing great promise and what happens? Ryan Giggs appears and Ryan Giggs gets the spot - it’s that horrible business of somebody's ability being better than yours."

Manchester United boss Ferguson had earmarked Inter Milan and Holland star Sneijder as the perfect replacement for Paul Scholes, who retired earlier this summer.

Rising star: Paul Pogba pushing for Manchester United first team spot

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed how young French sensation Paul Pogba is knocking on the first team door at Old Trafford.

"Pogba's in the first-team training set-up now," he told Inside United. "So that's the first step.

"After that, it'll likely depend on when we decide to make changes. He'll probably be involved in the League Cup and that'll be his chance to establish himself in the squad."

Midfielder Pogba has been impressing in the United youth teams for a while.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have earmarked the Premier League clash with United for Didier Drogba's comeback.

The Reds take on Chelsea on Sunday September 18 and Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is hopeful Drogba will have recovered from a head injury in time for the match.

"He has to be authorised medically to make his full return to training," Villas-Boas said.

"He has been doing light sessions, of course, with our physios.

"Let's push it to the limit to try for him to be available for Man United."

Sir Alex intends to throw Paul Pogba into the lion's den at Elland Road on Tuesday night as United meet old foes Leeds in the Carling Cup third round.

The Reds are still smarting from the shock FA Cup defeat the Yorkshiremen inflicted at Old Trafford in January 2010 and will aim to avenge that result by blending youth and experience.

French prospect Pogba picked up a slight knock in the Reserves' 2-1 win against Rochdale last Thursday but is in line for his senior debut. Although it promises to be a hostile occasion, Sir Alex has no qualms about fielding the talented midfielder.

"He's got a slight injury," the boss said, speaking at the launch of the club's new partner, Malaysian snack giants Mister Potato. "It's not too bad, though. So he wasn't available for Sunday but he should be able to play on Tuesday and I intend to play him against Leeds United."

Sir Alex also revealed there is no prospect of Pogba being loaned out this season, despite recent reports of interest from Burnley. The teenager could, however, be farmed out in 2012/2013. For now, though, he'll remain at Old Trafford to continue his development.

"It's more difficult to loan a boy of 18 who's come from France," explained the manager.

"We prefer to keep him with us until we find he's mature enough to possibly go on loan. Maybe next year that could be an option but we're definitely expecting him this season to stay with Manchester United."

Michael Carrick is convinced France Under-19 skipper Paul Pogba will have a big future at Manchester United.

The 18-year-old is set to make his senior debut in the Carling Cup tie at Leeds, having made steady progress since his controversial arrival from Le Havre in 2009.

Pogba helped United land the FA Youth Cup last term and has been promised by Sir Alex Ferguson he will not be loaned out this season despite interest from Burnley.

And although Carrick is aware the teenager still has plenty of work in front of him, he feels the signs are encouraging for a top-class career.

"Paul is a huge talent," said the midfielder. "He has trained with us a number of times, so we have seen quite a lot of him and he looks very promising.

"If he goes about things in the right way and gets a little bit of luck at the right time, he is going to have a bright future."

Manchester United Starlet Paul Pogba Will Not Go Out on Loan, Sir Alex Ferguson Says

Manchester United is in the midst of another youth revolution, with five young players playing key roles in their bright start to the 2011-12 season. They will keep midfielder Paul Pogba -- next in line on the conveyor belt -- close by for at least the next year, manager Sir Alex Ferguson said in the Daily Mirror.

"It's more difficult to loan a boy of 18 who's come from France," the veteran manager said. "We prefer to keep him with us until we find he's mature enough to possibly go on loan.

"Maybe next year that could be an option, but we're definitely expecting him this season to stay with Manchester United.''

kelihatan maennya masih agak nervous..maklum debut pertama udah bermain di elland road wkwkwkwkwk...tapi umpan panjang cukup akurat cuma long shot masih keliatan nahan power..masih takut buat kesalahan...no problem, secara overall bagus...btw udah ada thread zeki fryers belum ya?...soalnya maennya cukup baek kemaren

iya, ndak menutup kemungkinan diloan emang..opa SAF juga pernah ngomong gitu tapi juga ngomong cukup berat melepas pemain muda dari perancis utk diloan...

menurutku riskan karena perbedaan kultur, ada rasa kurang nyaman diloan ke tim laen di sesama ranah inggris, kalo aku liat polanya kayak pique sama rossi mereka diloan kembali ke negaranya masing2, abis itu bablas deh dan sekarang malah cukup bagus diluar...jadi opiniku riskannya bakal ada rasa kurang nyaman buat sang pemain kalo maen di klub lain di inggris, tapi aku juga ndak tau apa alasan tim kepada pemain muda united dari luar inggris diloan balik ke negaranya kyk rossi sama pique....

Dulu pernah ada di media kalo si fernandez, pelatih zaragoza pinjem pique karena dy suka dgn gaya bermainnnya, begitu jg dgn rossi. Paul Pogba is hoping for more chances to prove himself after his tantalising taste of the first team in last month’s Carling Cup defeat of Leeds.

The 18-year-old midfielder made his debut as a second-half substitute in the 3-0 win at Elland Road and showed why he’s so highly regarded at the club with an assured and skilful performance.

The Frenchman could be handed another opportunity to impress in the next round against Aldershot after being assured he is very much in Sir Alex's thinking this term.

Pogba told the French Football Federation website: "A possible loan to a Championship club was discussed early in the season, but Sir Alex said he did not want me to leave.

"That makes me want to prove he was right in trusting me. I am proud of what I’m doing. I'm getting closer to the first team and I hope to progress further this season."

Pogba admitted he had mixed feelings when he replaced Ryan Giggs at half-time at Leeds.

"I was nervous but so happy to be among players like Carrick, Berbatov and Owen," he said. "It was a nice taste of the first team and made me want even more."

Pogba arrived at United from Le Havre in a much-discussed move in 2009 and was a key figure in the Under-18s' Youth Cup triumph in May.

"We lifted the cup in front of more than 25,000 fans – it was fabulous," he added. "I always dreamed of playing teams like Chelsea and Liverpool and now it's coming true.

"We continued a Mancunian tradition by winning that trophy for the 10th time. This proves I'm not in the north of England by accident!"

Pogba dan agennya bener2 dalam posisi menguntungkan. (klo bener) kontrak tinggal semusim, umur 18 tahun, reputasi dan bakat besar yang dimiliki jadi bargaining yang besar. Mereka bisa milih tawaran tertinggi nanti. Tinggal pake alasan kesempatan minim aja dah cukup buat alasan cabut meski dikit banyak aku yakin bukab itu alasan utamanya.

Bener2 sayang klo pindah meski itu juga bukan segala2nya. Moga aja fergie berhasil yakinkan dia dan agennya.

Biasanya pemain junior di United menandatangani kontrak pertama sbg pemain profesional ketika dia berusia 17 tahun . Dan setahu gw , kontrak tsb rata2 mempunyai durasi 3-4 thn . Dengan umur Pogba yg masih 18 th , scr logika kontraknya masih tersisa 2-3 tahun .

Jurnalis Inggris , gak punya bahan berita langsung buat sensasi . Pogba saja musim ini nggak dipinjamkan Fergie ke klub luar karena dirasa blm siap . Gw yakin , generasi Class of 2011 ; dimana ada Tunnicliffe , Pogba, dan Morrison ; akan menjadi pilar United di masa mendatang .

Sepakat, kalo aku pikir ini akal2an media2 di inggris aja...atau mungkin agen dari pogba yg bener2 mata duitan...aku yakin pogba juga ngerti posisinya, sekarang beda sama taun 92an dulu, kalo dulu masih "tanpa beban" soalnya belum ada pencapaian tropi seperti sebesar sekarang....dan pemain class of 92 dulu juga ndak langsung reguler...;)

The midfielder Darren Fletcher this week became the latest player to join United's casualty list, which already includes the captain Nemanja Vidic, who will miss the rest of the season, and the striker Javier Hernandez.

Asked if he expected United to sign any new players next month, Ferguson said: "Not necessarily. I don't know why people keep going on about it. [I won't buy] unless someone we have always been interested in appears, but there isn't.

"Darren's obviously such a great professional, it's not easy to replace that, but we will think about it."

Ferguson's "thinking about it" is a reference to his existing in-house options, including the 18-year-old French midfielder, Paul Pogba, who is being linked with a move to Inter Milan at the end of the season.

"He's a big, strong lad and he's improving, developing well," said Ferguson. "Since he came to the club, I've seen the progress he has made, and he has had experience of the first team this year."

Pogba aspires to making a real mark at Old Trafford, following in the footsteps of many of his fellow countrymen - such as Eric Cantona, Fabien Barthez and Patrice Evra.

"I think you grow up a lot at United," he admitted. "I came from France. I'm here and I know what I want to do. I just want to be a first-team player, a great player here and that's it. I want to play with the first team."

Main nya bagus banget,membuat satu assist dan hampir mencetak gol

Fergie Harapkan Pogba Segera Teken Kontrak Baru

Manchester, detiksport - Paul Pogba dapat pujian dari Manajer Manchester United Sir Alex Ferguson, yang juga berharap kontrak baru segera diteken oleh pemain yang disebutnya punya potensi besar itu.

Kontrak Pogba dengan 'Setan Merah' akan berakhir 30 Juni mendatang. Digadang-gadang punya masa depan cerah, pemain berusia 18 tahun itu pun kabarnya sudah menarik minat banyak klub.

Salah satu momen unjuk potensi Pogba adalah ketika ia dimainkan ketika MU mengalahkan Stoke 2-0, Rabu (1/2/2012). Hanya jadi pemain pengganti dan tampil selama 20 menit, ia sukses mencuri perhatian dan pujian.

"Pogba tampil sangat baik. Ia memiliki bakat hebat dan fisik yang luar biasa untuk pemain yang berusia 18 tahun. Sulit dipercaya," puji Fergie di ESPN Soccernet.

Tak mau kehilangan pemain berbakat, Fergie mengaku MU sedang membahas perpanjangan kontrak dengan Pogba. Mengklaim si pemain memang ingin bertahan, Fergie pun berharap kontrak baru segera terealisir.

"Saat ini kami sedang menegosiasikan kontraknya. Ini agak rumit karena ia sudah mengganti agennya beberapa kali. Tapi ia ingin bertahan, itu jelas. Semoga semuanya segera tuntas," harap Fergie.
