McClaren favourite to be named new Wolfsburg boss
Soccernet - May 3, 2010
Wolfsburg hope to name their new coach this week with Steve McClaren reportedly the preferred choice following his title triumph in the Netherlands with FC Twente.
McClaren guided Twente to their first ever Eredivisie title with a 2-0 success at NAC Brada on Sunday and Wolfsburg are thought to want the former England coach to take the reins at the Volkswagen Arena.
Lorenz-Gunther Kostner is currently the interim manager of the reigning German champions, having taken over from Armin Veh when it became apparent that he wouldn't be able to repeat last season's Bundesliga title success.
The Wolves were reportedly close to recruiting former Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier only for the deal to fall through, but Wolfsburg general manager Dieter Hoeness told Kicker: "It is planned that we will present the new man this week.''
Hoeness insisted, though, they would not be rushed into revealing his identity.
"If it's Friday, Saturday or Sunday, we don't care. Only when everything is cleanly concluded will we make the name known,'' he added in the Bild newspaper.
Wolfsburg have endured a disappointing season and can finish no higher than eighth, meaning McClaren, who extended his contract with FC Twente only last October, would be sacrificing the chance of Champions League football were he to join them.
McClaren's predecessor as Twente coach, Fred Rutten, left the club for the Bundesliga, joining Schalke in 2008, only to be sacked before the end of his first season. Twente, though, will do all they can to keep hold of their man.
"We hope he stays for a long time,'' chairman Joop Munsterman said on Sky Sports News.

Suarez seals cup success
Soccernet - May 6, 2010, 8:09 PM UK
Ajax responded magnificently to their weekend Eredivisie disappointment as Luis Suarez and Siem de Jong each bagged a brace at De Kuip to seal an emphatic triumph over Feyenoord in the KNVB Beker final.
Already in the driving seat following their 2-0 first-leg win at the Amsterdam ArenA 11 days ago - also secured by a De Jong double - Luis Suarez's fourth-minute goal tonight put the result beyond doubt.
De Jong notched twice in the second half - either side of Jon Dahl Tomasson's consolation - before Uruguay frontman Suarez rounded off the scoring eight minutes from time.
Martin Jol's side, who missed out on the Eredivisie title to FC Twente by a point on Sunday, could hardly have wished for a brighter start as Suarez curled a shot into the top corner to put them three goals to the good on aggregate.
The goal was met with stony silence by the 48,000 in attendance, with away supporters having been banned from attending both legs for fear of violent clashes.
The hosts looked to give their fans something to cheer about by getting back into the match but, from their best chance of the first half, no attacker was able to connect with Andre Bahia's whipped free-kick.
Suarez almost bagged his second seven minutes before the break but lashed just wide from the edge of the area, meaning the Amsterdammers had to settle for a one-goal advantage at the interval.
De Jong changed that 20 minutes into the second period, however, latching onto Demy De Zeeuw's neat pass and slotting into the bottom-left corner of Erwin Mulder's net.
Tomasson pulled one back six minutes later, tapping in after Jonathan De Guzman's free-kick had struck the upright.
But any hopes the hosts harboured of mounting an unlikely comeback were extinguished after 77 minutes. Suarez and De Jong linked up brilliantly before the latter blasted a low shot into the net to put Ajax 3-1 up on the night.
Not content with that, Suarez got his name on the scoresheet again five minutes later, firing into the bottom-right corner to complete the rout and ensure his side did not finish the season empty-handed.

Ajax Juara Piala Belanda

PSV Eindhoven 10 - 0 Feyenoord Rotterdam
Hosts run riot in record thrashing
Soccernet.com - October 24, 2010, 7:17 AM GMT
PSV Eindhoven sent 10-man Feyenoord crashing to their heaviest ever defeat on a record-breaking afternoon at Philips Stadion.
A hat-trick from Jonathan Reis was the cornerstone of the rout which also saw Jeremain Lens (2), Balazs Dzsudzsak (2), Ibrahim Afellay, Ola Toivonen and Orlando Engelaar find the target.
The bruising loss was the worst in Feyenoord's history, eclipsing the 8-2 reverse against Ajax in September 1983, and will only ramp up the pressure on coach Mario Been, who has been under scrutiny after a poor start to the season that has left the Rotterdammers in the relegation zone.
The 10-0 scoreline equals PSV's record winning result set on three previous occasions, most recently against FC Volendam in April 1998, and moves Fred Rutten's men two points clear at the Eredivisie summit.
Feyenoord's task was not helped by the 34th-minute dismissal of full-back Kelvin Leerdam, but the visitors' numerical disadvantage could not explain away a shocking second-half capitulation.
PSV are unbeaten in the league this season and started full of confidence, going close on three occasions prior to opening the scoring on 24 minutes.
Reis carved the chance out of nothing, working space 20 yards from goal and curling a delightful effort into the bottom-right corner of Rob van Dijk's net.
Leerdam's red card 10 minutes later for a second yellow gave Feyenoord a mountain to climb, but no one could have predicted what was to come as the 20-year-old trudged down the tunnel.
Afellay made it 2-0 five minutes later, his strong run and smart one-two with Lens finishing with a low drive into the net.
PSV needed just two minutes of the second period to extend their lead and kick-off a remarkable run of eight goals in just 40 minutes.
Reis opened the floodgates with his second of the afternoon, the Brazilian's header from Dzsudzsak's cross evading Van Dijk, who was slow to react.
Three became four two minutes later as Afellay's pinpoint cross from the right wing was met by Toivonen with an unerring header into the top corner.
Lens made it five 10 minutes into the second period, the forward sweeping home Reis' centre from the right, while Reis completed his treble on the hour with a low shot after good work by the lively Afellay.
Dzsudzsak's fine long-range drive made it seven five minutes later before Engelaar lashed home number eight from square in front of goal on 69 minutes.
Kamohelo Mokotjo's foul on Adil Auassar paved the way for Dzsudzsak to stroke home number nine from the penalty spot in the 76th minute, while the hosts brought up double figures three minutes from the end when Otman Bakkal's crossed for Lens to deliver the final insult to beleaguered Feyenoord.

Been: 'A black page in the history of Feyenoord'
Soccernet.com - October 24, 2010
Feyenoord coach Mario Been revealed his future at the club has been thrown into serious doubt by Sunday's 10-goal demolition at the hands of PSV Eindhoven.
Been was already under pressure heading into the game at the Philips Stadion after a slow start to the new Eredivisie campaign, and his side's spectacular capitulation against the league leaders has turned up the heat still further on the beleaguered coach.
The 46-year-old revealed earlier this week that he hoped to seal an extension to his current contract at De Kuip, but he admitted Sunday's events mark a "black page in the history of Feyenoord'' that has forced him to re-evaluate his position.
Been reportedly told his players after the match that he would stand down if they no longer had any faith in his leadership, only to be met by a wall of disappointed silence. It is unclear whether the players' reaction has been taken as a vote of no-confidence, but Been admitted he would not be making any snap decisions on his future until Monday at the earliest.
"If there is no confidence in the players, I think the matter is clear,'' Been told reporters. "If there is no trust in the management the case seems clear. When I spoke to the players, they remained silent. Maybe we should sleep on it first. But that further discussions will follow is clear.''
Addressing the media at a joint press conference alongside PSV coach Fred Rutten, a visibly drained Been added: "Here is a coach who is very ashamed. It is scandalous how we defended. We just lost 10-0. This pain is enormous, not only as a club coach but also as a supporter. This is a huge black page in the history of Feyenoord and that gives me tremendous pain.''
A hat-trick from Jonathan Reis was the cornerstone of PSV's crushing victory, which also saw Jeremain Lens and Balazs Dzsudzsak grab a brace each in addition to further strikes by Ibrahim Afellay, Ola Toivonen and Orlando Engelaar. The bruising loss was the worst in Feyenoord's history, eclipsing the 8-2 reverse against Ajax in September 1983, and leaves the Rotterdammers in the relegation zone.
The 10-0 scoreline equals PSV's record winning result set on three previous occasions, most recently against FC Volendam in April 1998, and moves Rutten's men two points clear at the Eredivisie summit. Feyenoord's task was not helped by the 34th-minute dismissal of full-back Kelvin Leerdam, but the visitors' numerical disadvantage could not explain away a shocking second-half capitulation.
"After the break we played against 10 men with a lot of discipline and high tempo,'' said a delighted Rutten. "It is a compliment to the team. I am extremely proud of this performance.''

Feyenoord Resmi Kontrak Ronald Koeman

Berikut beberapa foto Ronald Koeman :

Abandoned Cup Match Between Ajax And Alkmaar To Be Replayed In Front Of 50,000 Children
http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv189/zudomiriku/zudo%20II/zudo%20III/Esteban1.jpg
You may remember, not so very long ago, when the KNVB Cup match between Ajax and Alkmaar had to be abandoned after just 38 minutes when Alkmaar ‘keeper Esteban Alvarado was red-carded (it was later rescinded) for knocking a drunken pitch-invader on his arse and then belting the living daylights out of the 19-year old hoodlum as he sprawled on the turf.
Well, the Dutch FA have confirmed that the match will be replayed on January 19th, but with one stipulation – that the Amsterdam Arena is closed to anyone over the age of 13.
Ajax were initially ordered to replay the game ‘behind closed doors’ in an empty stadium, but the club appealed to the Dutch FA to allow women and children to attend as a compromise.
However, the KNVB ruled that adults with lady parts would not be allowed to attend due to a national equality law in the Netherlands which states that men and women are to be treated comparably at all times.
Therefore, in a move similar to the Turkish FA’s decision to only allow women into a Fenerbache match to punish their male fans for being boisterous dickheads, tickets for the game will be provided free of charge for youth football clubs and primary schools for children aged under 13 – with one adult teacher/supervisor allowed in to look after every six kids.
How lovely. One gold star for the Dutch FA – though we don’t envy the Ajax grounds staff. That’s a whole lot of sticky fingerprints and spilt Vimto that’s going to need cleaning up afterwards.
