Fabio Capello sends England doctor out on call to Manchester United
• Ian Beasley to get progress reports on five United players
• Feedback also wanted from Tottenham and Liverpool

The England team doctor, Ian Beasley, is visiting the training grounds of several Premier League clubs this week to make a final check on the fitness of players before Fabio Capello names his provisional 30-man squad for the World Cup next Tuesday.
It is understood that the most significant stop-off of his tour will be at Carrington, Manchester United's training HQ, where he will ask for updates from the club's medical staff on Rio Ferdinand, Wayne Rooney, Wes Brown, Gary Neville and Owen Hargreaves.
Although only the first two are "definites", Capello would like to have Brown's versatility at his disposal in South Africa, the very quality that still gives Hargreaves, who made his first appearance for United in 18 months on Sunday, a faint chance of making the training squad.
Beasley is also expected to visit Liverpool, to check on Glen Johnson, Tottenham, where he will ask for feedback on Aaron Lennon, Tom Huddlestone and Ledley King, before taking a final look at Fulham's Bobby Zamora who has been struggling with an achilles injury for the past month.

England door is open for Owen Hargreaves as Fabio Capello concedes Gareth Barry is out
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/05/10/article-1276711-0967129D000005DC-792_468x286.jpg
Gareth Barry's dream of playing in a World Cup died on Monday night when Fabio Capello ruled him out of the tournament - opening the door for a sensational return to international football for Owen Hargreaves.
The Manchester City midfielder suffered serious ankle-ligament damage during last week's encounter with Tottenham and Capello conceded he was not going to recover in time.
'Too long,' said Capello with a shake of the head. Barry has been an integral part of Capello's plans since the Italian took charge of the national team, not least in the absence of the injured Hargreaves.
But Capello is now expected to turn to Hargreaves as a specialist holding midfielder, even though he has only recently returned from a 19-month spell on the sidelines with a chronic knee condition and has played just one minute of football this season.
Capello was still finalising the 30 names he will announce as his provisional World Cup squad at Wembley later on Monday.
He was awaiting a medical report on Hargreaves, who missed the final game of Manchester United's season on Sunday because of illness, and Bobby Zamora, the Fulham striker who still hopes to play in Wednesday's Europa League final but is struggling to shrug off an achilles injury.

WORLD CUP 2010: Fabio Capello asks Manchester United veteran Paul Scholes to make England comeback - six years after retiring
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/05/11/article-0-000D29D81000044C-589_306x409.jpg
Fabio Capello has made a sensational last-ditch attempt to persuade Paul Scholes to return to the England fold.
Capello, who names his 30-man provisional squad for South Africa later today (Tuesday), opened talks with Scholes this morning.
The Manchester United midfielder has resisted several approaches to make an international comeback since quitting the England set-up in 2004.
But Italian Capello is hoping Scholes will follow Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, who indicated he would be willing to return after retiring three years ago.
The 35-year-old Scholes first represented England in 1997 when Glenn Hoddle was in charge.
Scholes was part of the England side at France 98 and in the Far East four years later as well as the European Championships in 200 and 2004.

Boss backs World Cup Reds
14/05/2010 12:49 - ManUtd.com, Gemma Thompson
Sir Alex Ferguson says he would love nothing more than to see one of his players triumph at next month's World Cup.
The Reds are expected to have nine representatives in South Africa - Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick (England), Patrice Evra (France), Nemanja Vidic, Zoran Tosic (Serbia), Nani (Portugal), Ji-sung Park (South Korea) and new signing Chicharito (Mexico).
The boss will be monitoring their progress and hopes they will all rise to the occasion.
"I'd like to see all my players do well," said Sir Alex. "If one of them wins it I would be delighted and everyone at the club would be very proud. I think they will all do well - I told them to come back feeling like you've achieved something and done your best because it's the biggest tournament [in the game]."
There was talk of a number of other United players making the trip to South Africa with Owen Hargreaves, Gary Neville and belatedly Paul Scholes, who was asked to come out of international retirement, all touted for England call-ups.
"Owen hasn't had enough football - you couldn't possibly have picked him, that was straightforward," insisted Sir Alex. "Gary was always a factor although I'm sure Fabio [Capello] took the fact he has had injury problems over the last few years into consideration.
"I wasn't surprised by Paul's decision [to turn down England's offer]. He made his decision [to retire from international football] years ago. I think Fabio did the right thing in giving him the opportunity to come back, but Paul is established in his family life and I don't think it was a goal. He spoke to me about it and I told him to go with his gut instinct and his gut instinct was to stay put."

Sir Alex Ferguson fears for Manchester United's World Cup players
• United manager says Ferdinand, Rooney and co will need rest
• Ferguson to oversee review of injury-plagued season
http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Football/Pix/pictures/2010/5/20/1274383979667/Sir-Alex-Ferguson-006.jpg
Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted that Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and several other Manchester United players will miss the start of the season because of their involvement in the World Cup and said there will be a review at Old Trafford to investigate why the club has suffered so many injuries over the last year.
Ferguson is so alarmed by the injury record that he has held a series of meetings with the club's medical staff, their conclusion being that several players, Rooney included, are being overworked because of the gruelling demands of combining domestic football with representing their countries. "The big area of concern for us is that we had 16 players who missed more than six weeks through injury," Ferguson said, reflecting on the season just gone and United relinquishing the Premier League title to Chelsea. "We have been looking for the reasons for that ever since the season ended."
His decision is that those members of the squad returning from South Africa this summer – United could have eight players involved, including three-quarters of their usual defence in Ferdinand, Patrice Evra and Nemanja Vidic – will be given almost a month to recover before even starting their pre-season training.
"The World Cup will be draining for all the players involved," Ferguson said. "It is the biggest tournament of their lives and we will be giving all of the players who are involved a 28-day rest after the last game. We will begin the season without them. That is the plan."
That means in theory that, if England were to reach the final, on 11 July, the players would not be expected to start their training for the new campaign until 8 August, the day the 2010-11 season begins with the Community Shield against Chelsea at Wembley. From that point it may be three weeks before they are considered ready to play, possibly even longer for Ferdinand considering his long-standing back issues, a problem he has been told could flare up at any time.
Ferguson will also be mindful not to rush back Rooney, bearing in mind what happened when he did that towards the end of the season, the striker re-aggravating an ankle injury and then damaging the abductor muscle at the top of his leg.
Ferguson, speaking on the Fan 590 radio station in Toronto while promoting the club's pre-season tour to Canada, the United States and Mexico, went on to reiterate that there were no plans to offload Dimitar Berbatov after a season in which the Bulgarian's form has divided opinion among supporters. "We definitely won't sell Berbatov," he said. "He will be with us next year."
Of possible incomings the United manager argued that the Glazer family were being unfairly accused of not making money available for him in the transfer market. "They have been great owners and there's no reason to think otherwise. They have supported me every time I have asked them and we have already spent £20m on young players. Chris Smalling cost us £10m, [Mame Biram] Diouf was £4m and the Mexican [Javier Hernández] was more than £6m. Because we are not signing signature players people think we are not moving forward – but we are."
Many supporters would dispute this after five years in which the Glazers are calculated to have lost the club £437m in interest payments and other fees but Ferguson said the Florida-based family were running United in a sensible way by not following the pay structure at clubs such as Chelsea and Manchester City.
"There must be concern about the level of salaries in the game," he said. "There's a lot of greed, particularly when owners have come in from Russia, America and the Middle East and there's a need for them to do well. Salary caps are not going to come into their domain; it doesn't enter their thinking."

Four Reds feature at Wembley

Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and Michael Carrick helped England to victory on Monday night, against a Mexico team featuring a future United team-mate.
Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez came on at the start of the second half at Wembley, replacing his side's goalscorer Franco, and was just feeling his way into the match when Glen Johnson made it 3-1 to the hosts. Despite this early blow, the young Mexican looked fairly lively in attack, firing one shot just wide and almost connecting with a dangerous low ball across the England box. Chicharito will no doubt be itching to get back on English soil in August - if United successfully gain his work permit. In the meantime, he could meet another Red, Patrice Evra, when Mexico face France in the World Cup.
Unfortunately Ferdinand didn't get the chance to see Chicharito at close quarters, as the England skipper came off at the break to allow Liverpool's Jamie Carragher a run-out. Carrick relinquished his midfield anchor role in the 62nd minute, making way for Tottenham's Tom Huddlestone, but Rooney played the full 90 minutes to the relief of coach Fabio Capello. England's first-half goals came from two other Tottenham players - Ledley King, who started alongside Ferdinand at centre-back, and Peter Crouch.
Nani was also on international duty on Monday night, as Portugal were held to a shock 0-0 draw by Cape Verde Islands, ranked 117th in the world. The United winger was booked for a foul early in the second half but played the full game.
Ji-sung Park fared better, scoring in the 6th minute of Korea Republic's 2-0 win in Japan.

Peringkat Pemain MU di Piala Dunia
Toto Pribadi
http://media.vivanews.com/thumbs2/2010/03/01/85900_wayne_rooney_300_225.jpg
7. Michael Carrick
Michael Carrick mungkin menjadi pemain reguler dalam tim Sir Alex Ferguson. Namun di tim Inggris, Carrick sepertinya harus bekerja keras bersaing dengan beberapa nama besar lain semacam Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Gareth Barry (Manchester City) dan James Milner (Aston Villa). Kecilnya peluang Carrick masuk skuad inti The Three Lions tentu pantas menjadikannya berada di peringkat terbawah pemain MU di tim nasional.
6. Rio Ferdinand
4. Luis Nani
Portugal memang punya Cristiano Ronaldo.
2. Patrice Evra
Prancis memang pantas difavoritkan di Grup A. Bertabur pemain bintang menjadi alasannya. Les Bleus punya bek sayap kiri terbaik bernama Patrice Evra.
1. Wayne Rooney
Tak diragukan lagi jika pemilik peringkat teratas pemain MU di Afrika Selatan nanti pantas menjadi milik Rooney. Wazza sangat tampil fenomenal bersama MU musim ini meski terganggu cedera di akhir musim. Torehan 34 gol di semua kompetisi menjadi bukti jika Rooney layak diandalkan MU dan the Three Lions.

Evra Bakal Kapteni Prancis
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d110/Ruberama/Serie%20A/Fangirls%20Guide%202007-8/Euros/France/PatriceEvra.jpg
"Saya sangat bangga menjadi kapten. Dengan bakat anda bisa memenangi pertandingan, tapi Anda hanya bisa memenangi turnamen dengan tim yang hebat," tandasnya seperti dikutp Soccernet.
Terpilihnya Evra sebagai kapten Prancis juga mendapat dukungan dari Jeremy Toulalan.
"Dia adalam mood yang bagus dan memiliki keinginan untuk menyatukan siapa saja," paparnya.

Red head-to-heads
The big kick-off in South Africa is almost upon us and United have a plenty of stars vying for glory. But to lift the famous gold trophy, they might have to get past their fellow club-mates along the way. Here, we look at when United loyalties could be pushed aside for national honour… it’ll be just like at Carrington – only with the world watching!
Group stages
Patrice Evra (France) v Chicharito (Mexico) (Group A)
The pressure is on Les Bleus in South Africa after a dismal Euro 2008 campaign and scraping through the World Cup qualifiers (with a helping hand from Mr Henry). But United’s new hotshot striker from Chivas Guadalajara could be just the kind of Senegal-shaped banana skin (remember World Cup 2006?) they don’t want to step on. A forward who comes in from the wing, 'the little pea' could give United’s French full-back something to really think about. That said, is there anyone who is anyone in World football who Evra hasn’t faced? In fact, Patrice will no doubt relish coming up against his new team-mate - and he'll provide a stern test of the standards expected of Chicharito in Manchester next season when they meet on Thursday 17 June (19:30 BST).
Second round
Rooney (England) v Vidic (Serbia)
These two must have given each other a few lasting bruises in training games before now, but they have yet to face each other in serious competition, either internationally or for their club sides. But if the World Cup groups go according to seeding, with England winning their group and Serbia finishing second in theirs, this combative pair will lock horns in Rustenburg on the evening of June 26. How will Vida deal with Wazza’s non-stop movement and bustling runs? He will need eyes in the back of his head to stop England’s talisman peeling off him in the box and finding space for headers.
Closing down gaps for Rooney’s shots from around the box will also be a challenge and a half. But Rooney couldn't come up against a more rock-solid opponent. Let’s hope we get to see it unfold.
Park Ji-Sung (South Korea) v Patrice Evra (France)
If France top their group and South Korea qualify in second, or even vice versa, it'll be Ji v Pat. And while these two are good mates at United, Park bears a big responsibility for the Koreans at this World Cup, and won’t hesitate to help spoil the Frenchman’s African dream. Ji likes room to roam anywhere across the midfield, so they will undoubtedly find themselves coming into direct opposition. The ever-industrious Park will also have a defensive role himself – to stop Evra from pushing up the flanks to support French attacks. An intriguing battle between United's comedy double-act – who will have the last laugh?
Semi-finals…or final?
Nani (Portugal) v Wayne Rooney (England)
What a rematch this would be. England and Portugal are on opposite sides of the draw, meaning they cannot meet until the semi-finals. But what an occasion for Nani to pit his wits and test his skills against defenders he knows very well. Nani often comes on as a substitute for Portugal, and has played everywhere along the midfield as well as up front. Given his penchant for a trick or two, his mission is to embarrass defenders. He might not have Rio Ferdinand checking his forward charges, but it could be a case of anything you (or, Roo) can do, I can do better. It would be some game and some personal showdown – and did we mention a certain Cristiano Ronaldo could be on the other wing…?

Park Ji Sung, 8 deh, mencetak gol dan menjadi Man of The Match! Luar biasa maennya. Roo, 6,5 aja. Selain masih stabil, Dia kayaknya ngga cocok maen be'dua di depan, mungkin lebih klop kalo dia dijadikan Lone Striker seperti yg dia jalankan di Klub. Evra,7, penetrasinya lumayan jg pas lawan uruguay. Kapten pula. Vida, ntar malem :D

PICTURE: You Can Take The Boy Out Of Merseyside…
Following England’s disappointing performance in their 1-1 draw with USA on Saturday, Wayne Rooney enjoyed a spot of golf at the Lost City course of Sun City.
http://i45.tinypic.com/hwbvjc.jpg
Rooney barely got a touch in England’s opening game and it became clear why this country is worried about him losing his temper. The best player on the park by a country mile was hardly involved in the game, so you have to wonder what Fabio Capello was thinking with the tactics. How infuriating to have such a talent on the team and not use him effectively. Rooney didn’t play well, he didn’t play badly, he just didn’t do anything.
Dressed up in his golf gear and socks pulled up, today Rooney let out the frustrations .
And then, in front of the cameras, Rooney turned around and took a slash! Classy move, Wazza!

22/06/2010 15:50, Report by Adam Bostock
Evra's dream over
Patrice Evra's dream of lifting the World Cup is over for at least another four years following France's ignimonous exit from South Africa 2010.
The fate of Les Bleus - runners-up four years ago, and world champions in 1998 - was sealed on Tuesday afternoon when they suffered a second defeat in Group A, this time at the hands of the host nation. The French therefore finish bottom of the pile, their solitary point from three tournament matches coming in their opening 0-0 draw with Uruguay.
It may be scant consolation but at least Patrice wasn't culpable on the pitch as France's campaign went from disastrous to deceased - the skipper was omitted from Raymond Domenech's starting eleven after a tumultuous build-up to the fixture.
South Africa scored twice in the first half through Bongali Khumalo and Katlego Mphela and gained the advantage of an extra man when French playmaker Yoann Gourcuff was controversially sent off following an aerial challenge on MacBeth Sibaya. But while Luis Suarez's strike for Uruguay against Mexico in the other game further raised hopes of the host nation going through, Bafana Bafana's 2-1 victory eventually proved to be in vain and they also bow out, on goal difference.
Mexico's qualification, alongwith Uruguay, means Javier Hernandez - aka Chicharito - is the first United player to reach the last 16. They will face the runners-up in Group B, the spot occupied by Ji-sung Park's South Korea prior to Tuesday evening's action.

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he has spoken to Wayne Rooney and told him to "relax and enjoy" the World Cup, despite what he described as the debilitating expectation that surrounds the England team at major tournaments.
The United boss was speaking to New York radio station Sirius and said: "I spoke to Wayne last week and I just said: 'Relax and enjoy it'. I just sensed there was a tension in and around the camp from what I was hearing.
"I didn't watch the Algeria game but I just get a feeling that the expectation is affecting the England team. Sometimes expectation can be debilitating in terms of getting the players to perform to the levels required to get through their group."
England face a decisive group game against Slovenia on Wednesday, but Sir Alex says he is not surprised that England have struggled to reach top form.
"It's been a disappointing World Cup [overall]. But I had a feeling that it would be. I have been disappointed with the quality levels, I have to say. I haven't been impressed at all. The season we have in Europe, particularly in England, is tough. Then the players all met up with their international squads three or four days after the season finished and they have been together for most of that time, after a long, hard season.
"It's a real task to ask players to perform at the best level they can after a season in England.
"Germany take that month-long break in January and they always seem to do better in World Cups than anyone ever expects. Even though they are not as strong as German teams of the past, they still manage to do something in World Cups."
Wayne Rooney isn't the only Reds striker that Sir Alex has been keeping tabs on. New signing Javier Hernandez impressed coming off the bench to score a decisive goal against France in Mexico's 2-0 Group A win over Raymond Domenech's troubled side.
"He did very well," Sir Alex said of Chicharito's cameo display. "He showed good movement, speed and he sees space very well. I was very pleased with his performance."

Chicharito & Park Through, Evra Left Fuming - Day 12

The day the World Cup starts to mean business was a fairly good day for United players. Javier Hernandez qualified for the second round, despite Mexico losing 1-0 to Uruguay. Patrice Evra missed a press briefing and then featured on the bench for France, as their campaign went from bad to worse. And Park Ji-Sung lead his team into Round 2 with a draw against Nigeria...
In Group A, Mexico took-on Uruguay, as France played South Africa simultaneously. After a hard-fought 44 minute battle, Manchester United target Luis Suarez scored a minute before the break to ensure a spot in Round 2 for Uruguay.

Javier Hernandez again came-on as an 'impact substitute', this time in the 63rd minute for veteran Cuauhtemoc Blanco, who had struggled throughout the game. Hernandez had a shot on goal, and nothing else. But again impressed with skill and ball control - should have been on from the start. Despite losing, the Mexicans went though on goal difference, ahead of the host nation...
Result: Mexico 0-1 Uruguay (Group A)

The other match in Group A was between France and South Africa. French skipper Patrice Evra missed a pre-match press conference - which FIFA are now investigating. Manager Raymond Domenech, who chooses his starting XI on players star signs - no joke - left Evra out of the team, stripping him of his captaincy for this reason.
South Africa got off to a great start, with Bongani Khumelo heading 'Bafana Bafana' into a 20th minute lead. 7 minutes later, and Yoann Gourcuff was sent-off by referee Viktor Kassai after leading with his forearm in a challenge for the ball.
Katlego Mphela then scored the second for the Africans, shortly before the break. Chelsea's Florent Malouda grabbed a late consolation for France, but it meant nothing to Les Bleus, as they failed to won their third match in succession. Domenech then refused to shake hands with Carlos Alberto Parreira's for no apparent reason - as he his lowest. Au Revoir !
Result: France 1-2 South Africa (Group A)

Ji-Sung Park captained South Korea to a respectable 2-2 draw with Nigeria, which saw them qualify along with Argentina from Group B - as Diego Maradona's side made it 3 wins in 3 games, as they beat Greece 2-0.
Kalu Uche gave Nigeria the lead in the 12th minute from a great cross. Lee Jung-Soo scored for South Korea just before the break to equalise, after flicking on a free-kick cross. Park Chu-Young then scored a fantastic free-kick to put Korea a goal to the good, as he beat Nigerian star-keeper, Vincent Enyeama.
Everton striker Aiyegbeni Yakubu then levelled the score with 20 minutes left, after receiving a penalty. A fair outcome in the end, as South Korea and Argentina made it through to the last 16...
Result: Nigeria 2-2 South Korea

Rooney & Co. Make The Cut, Vida Doesn't - Day 13
-united-latest.com-
Wayne Rooney could have bagged himself a hat-trick in England's final Group C game with Slovenia, but it was Jermaine Defoe who got the only goal of the game in a nervy showdown at Port Elizabeth, as England made it through in 2nd place. However, Nemanja Vidic's Serbia were a whole different story, as they crashed-out to Australia !
England took-on Group C leaders, Slovenia, in a must-win game for Fabio Capello's side, as the USA played Algeria simultaneously at 3pm...
http://www.united-latest.com/uploads/1/9/5/6/1956984/77492.jpg
'The Three Lions' came out confident of a win, despite some upset in the camp. Wayne Rooney missed a handful of chances, and hit the woodwork in what was his best game for England so far in the tournament - he was then subbed for Joe Cole, as he appeared to pick-up an injury. But Jermaine Defoe grabbed the all-important goal on 22 minutes, after a fantastic cross from James Milner.
Capello's side should have won by a large margin, but Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard both missed sitters - handing Slovenia a life-line to get back into the game. However, the game finished 1-0 to England - which meant they qualified for Round 2, with Slovenia thinking they had also made it.
However, the USA broke Serbian hearts in the 91st minute at Pretoria, as Landon Donovan scored a well-earned goal to fire the Americans to the top of Group C. England will be furious that they didn't put a host of chances away - as goal difference means Capello's men will now face Germany on Sunday in the Round Of 16 !
Result: Slovenia 0-1 England

Serbia controlled most of the first half, but failed to capitalise. Australia then slowly came back into the game after the interval, and with 70 minutes gone Tim Cahill, returning from suspension, rose above Nemanja Vidic and headed home.
3 minutes later, after the Serbs had pushed men forward, Australia's Brett Holman scored a fantastic long-rage goal on the counter. Serbia's Marko Pantelic gave Serbia some hope, tapping-in 5 minutes from time - but the Socceroo's held onto the win, as both teams failed to make the Second Round.
Meanwhile in Jo'burg, Mesut Özil scored a stunning goal smack-bang into the right top corner against Ghana, who managed to qualify on goal difference ahead of the Ozzie's, to make Germany winner's of Group D. The Germans now face England on Sunday...
Result: Australia 2-1 Serbia

Park focus only on Uruguay
-teamtalk.com-
http://images.teamtalk.com/10/06/402x210/South-Korea-v-Greece-Park-Ji-Sung-celeb-2_2464600.jpg
Park Ji-Sung is not looking beyond Saturday's game with Uruguay as South Korea bid to extend their historic run at the 2010 World Cup.
The Taeguk Warriors cemented their place in the last 16 of a World Cup for the first time ever on foreign soil after a win and a draw sealed second in Group B.
Coach Huh Jung-moo's target before the tournament was to reach the knock-out stage and with that achieved South Korea can now reassess their goals in South Africa.
However, Manchester United midfielder Park is focused solely on the upcoming game against Uruguay, who the East Asians have not beaten in four previous attempts.
"We watched a few of Uruguay's games, they have quality and they are strong and their performances were great in the group stages. We have to prepare well for that game," said Park in The Daily Yomiuri.
"We're just thinking about the next game, we don't want to think about the game after that. Our goal was the last 16, so now we just focus on every single game coming up and treat it as the final."

Dalam semalem wakil MU langsung habis... Rooney, Carrick (ini pemaen beneran dibawa nggak ya? nggak keliatan batang hidungnya), dan Chicarito. Setuju sama mas agung... Park dan chicarito paling mengkilap. Paling redup rasanya rooney...
Oh ya...request foto-fotonya chicarito donk... terutama pas ngegolin.

Roo, Chicharito & Park Dumped-Out In Last 16
-united-latest.com-
Ji-Sung Park and his South Korean counter-parts suffered an agonising defeat to Uruguay yesterday, while the big-match of the weekend turned out to be a disaster. With Wayne Rooney and England getting knocked-out by Germany in controversial circumstances, but at least Javier Hernandez scored for Mexico in their defeat to Argentina!

Ji-Sung Park captained South Korea in the Last 16 of the competition against Uruguay, in what was a very tight match. Park Chu-Young hit the post moments into the game, however Uruguay stole the lead with just 8 minutes played - Luis Suarez netting from a cross from Diego Forlan, the former United striker.
Lee Chung-Young then found the leveller in the 68th minute after Korea dominated the second period, but it was Suarez who scored ten minutes from time to guarantee a place in the Quarter Finals for Uruguay...
Result: Uruguay 2-1 South Korea

Well, you've all seen the match and heard the story. No excuses. But you can't help feeling that England were hard done by. Wayne Rooney had an all-right game, but again - he wasn't fit. Hiding an injury are we, Wazza ?
20 minutes into the game Miroslav Klose beat Matthew Upson and then David James as he hit Germany in front from a goal-kick. 12 minutes later, and the Germans netted their second - with Lucas Podolski finishing brilliantly from a tight angle.
10 minutes before the interval Upson handed Fabio Capello's 'Three Lions' a life-line as he headed from Steven Gerrard's cross. And then, 60 seconds afterwards, Frank Lampard chipped Manuel Neuer and the ball bounced off the bar and INTO THE GOAL. Incredibly referee Jorge Larrionda and his linesman Mauricio Espinosa said no goal - Video Technology NEEDED !
Germany broke from free kick, with Bastian Schweinsteiger setting-up Thomas Muller to end England's dream of a winning the World Cup. And to add salt to the wound, the Germans broke again, with Muller bagging a brace after John Terry had run into Germany's penalty area for no apparent reason to leave a gulfing hole in defence. Sums 'em up really !
Result: Germany 4-1 England

Javier Hernandez finally STARTED for Mexico as they faced Diego Maradona's Argentina. The South Americans opened the scoring when Carlos Tevez scored a very controversial goal - being about 3 metres offside. Despite this, referee Roberto Rosetti awarded the goal after consulting his assistant.
Real Madrid star Gonzalo Higuain then tapped in Argentina’s second less that 10 minutes after the first. Just a few minutes into the second half, Tevez hit home his second with a powerful strike on the edge of the box. And to make my day, United new-boy Javier Hernandez netted a consolation, swivelling around inside the area and firing into the top corner... something to look forward to, as no Reds remain in South Africa !
Result: Argentina 3-1 Mexico
