A TINY village in the Gaeltacht is on cloud nine after Manchester United signed a local teenager for a three-year deal as a goalkeeper.

Joe Coll, who turned 16 last month, signed on the dotted line last Saturday with manager Alex Ferguson.

He has already appeared on Ireland under-age teams and is tipped to be the third goalkeeper from Donegal to be the number one choice for the senior national team after Packie Bonner and Shay Given.

Joe, who is six-foot-one-and-a-half-inches tall, heads off to Old Trafford on Sunday for a full medical.

Arrangements are being made to continue his schooling after he joins the club full-time on July 5.

But yesterday he was still at school at Pobalscoil Chloich Cheannfhaola, Falcarragh, where he is in fourth year.

Dad Tom, a FAS-scheme youth worker with Joe's Glenea United team in the Donegal Youth League, said: "The whole area is very excited but young Joe still has his feet very much on the ground."

Tom, a 49-year-old former striker, won an FAI Junior Cup medal in 1979.

Several UK clubs approached Joe in recent years after he was spotted by a Charlton scout playing in an under-13 competition in Limerick.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Wolves, Newcastle, Spurs, Manchester City and Celtic showed interest, but Alex Ferguson convinced him his future lay at United.

"He wished me good luck and success and he told me they were not signing me just for the sake of signing me but one day to become the number one at the club."

Luke McCullough (CB) for the Academy this season (debuts in the Milk Cup?)

Charni Ekangamene - Attacking Midfielder ( already played for the reserves as a sub against Wigan end of this season)

Manchester United are set to sign youngster Charni Ekangamene from feeder club Royal Antwerp on his 16th birthday.

The rookie attacker is still only 15 but is earmarked for a professional contract at Old Trafford after impressing during a trial spell in Manchester.

Sir Alex Ferguson has often used the Belgian side to develop his own youngsters, including Danny Higginbotham, Luke Chadwick, John O'Shea and Darron Gibson, but is ready to reverse the trend.

After former Antwerp defender Ritchie De Laet joined United from Stoke City in January, Belgian-Congolese kid Ekangamene looks on his way to the European champions later this year, despite rival interest from Ajax.

"He is a great talent," Antwerp's youth co-ordinator Alex Vervecken told HNB.

"He is mentally strong and is never nervous."

Vervecken and club secretary Paul Bistiaux accompanied the teenager on his initial trip to Manchester and a contract is expected to be signed when he becomes eligible as The Red Devils have been monitoring his progress carefully.

Five United youngsters will leave the club at the end of June.

Tom Heaton's move to Cardiff City has already been confirmed, and he will be followed out of Carrington by Febian Brandy, Sam Hewson, Scott Moffatt and Ron-Robert Zieler.

The quintet's contracts all expire at the end of the current month, and they will be free to join new clubs from 1 July.

Manchester United would like to wish all five boys the very best of luck in their careers.

Mungkin penilaian dr coaching staff United ngebuat mereka ga bs dapetin tmpat di tim reserves lg musim depan yah.

Nama" sperti King, Keane, dan masi bnyk lg pasti bakal rebutan tempat. Intinya salah bersaing aja mungkin mereka. :)

Sukses buat brandy cs. Moga karirnya lancar di klub laen.

Youngster yg dilepas bukannya tidak berkualitas, namun krn faktor development dimana terlalu banyak pemain namun tidak semuanya dapat bermain penuh...youth development akan mati kalo para youngster tetep dipertahanin, makanya diperlukan balance squad...direlease bisa aja membuat pemain berkembang dibanding duduk d bench atau pemain yg mentok karirnya krn nga dpt tempat...

No surprises as Reds release five

United have confirmed that Febian Brandy, Tom Heaton, Sam Hewson, Scott Moffatt and Ron-Robert Zieler will be leaving the club upon the expiry of their contracts next week.

Today’s announcement contained no real surprises, with all five players having been expected to move on this summer. Goalkeepers Heaton and Zieler have already secured free transfers to Cardiff City and Hannover 96 respectively, while Brandy and Hewson have been listed on the PFA Transfer List for several weeks. Moffatt meanwhile struggled to make an impact last season, featuring just four times for the reserves.

The departures of Brandy and Hewson in particular offer food for thought for those attempting to forecast the next big things coming through the ranks at Carrington. Hotly-tipped to break through after playing key roles in the Reds’ FA Youth Cup run and Champions Youth Cup success in 2007, both have seen younger players jump ahead of them in the pecking order after enduring a series of relatively unproductive spells out on loan and will now be seeking to kickstart their careers elsewhere, with there likely to be a number of potential suitors in the Football League.

Messrs Heaton and Zieler have the security of contracts signed and sealed and ready to come into effect on July 1st, and while neither will join their new club as first choice, they will have every opportunity to compete for the starting job in goal. With Cardiff perennial challengers for promotion to the Premier League and Hannover surviving last year in the ever-improving Bundesliga, the future looks bright for the young shot-stoppers.

For the injury-hit Moffatt, a disappointing lack of playing time over the last two years may make his task of finding a new club a tricky one, but Altrincham boss Graham Heathcote praised the Mancunian right-back after his brief loan spell at Moss Lane last season, perhaps an indicator that he may attract interest from clubs around that level.

Best of luck to Febian, Sam, Scott, Tom and Ron-Robert in their future careers.

McCullough confirms United move
http://i350.photobucket.com/albums/q439/ManUnitedYouth/Blog%20Graphics/News%20Item%20Pics/luke-mccullough-mar-10.jpg
Posted by nickogs20 on June 29, 2010

Northern Ireland U17 captain Luke McCullough has confirmed that he has signed a two-year scholarship contract with United and will join up with the Reds for the imminent start of pre-season training.

The Portadown youngster has been a regular triallist at Carrington over the past couple of years and was rumoured to have agreed to scholarship terms earlier this year. The club should be announcing details of the new intake of first year academy scholars in the next couple of weeks, but McCullough has pre-empted that in an interview with UTV News.

“It’s any boy’s dream to get any club across the water but to get United, it’s an added bonus,” said the 16 year-old, despite his boyhood allegiance towards a certain other North West side who wear red (“I’ll just have to forget about Liverpool for now“). The talented young centre-half swells the number of Northern Irish players at Old Trafford to six, joining a quintet of fellow youth internationals (Craig Cathcart, Conor Devlin, Corry Evans, Joe Dudgeon and Oliver Norwood) and an ideal role model in the form of countryman and fellow defender Jonny Evans. “Definitely someone to look up to“, McCullough says of the Reds first-teamer. “It’s a great achievement for somebody from Northern Ireland to be a regular at Manchester United.“

McCullough won’t be the only new recruit heading across the Irish Sea this summer, with 16 year-old Donegal goalkeeper Joe Coll having signed scholarship forms back in March. Four United schoolboys are also thought to have been taken on as scholars, with U16 captain Luke Hendrie and England youth defender Tyler Blackett likely to be among that number.

Seven new scholars announced
Posted by nickogs20 on July 2, 2010

With pre-season training set to get underway next week, the full list of new first-year academy scholars has been revealed.

The seven new names were confirmed in a series of tweets (1, 2, 3) from United in-house journalist Ben Hibbs. The majority of the seven were already known but there were a couple of surprises, most notably the presence of two goalkeepers in the new intake, a rare sight and something that – with Sam Johnstone entering his second year – should ensure fierce competition for the number one jersey in the U18s this coming season.

Here’s what we know so far about the seven new hopefuls*…

TYLER BLACKETT
Defender
Born 2nd April 1994 in Manchester

http://i350.photobucket.com/albums/q439/ManUnitedYouth/Blog%20Graphics/MidArticle%20Photos/tylerblackett.jpg

Born and raised in Manchester, Tyler has been on United’s books since the age of eight, having been spotted playing for the renowned Fletcher Moss Rangers junior club in Didsbury (also the starting point in Wes Brown’s career). Most at home at centre-back, where his height, strength and pace make him a formidable opponent, Tyler can also play at full-back – indeed, his solitary appearance for the U18s thus far saw him impress at left-back in a draw with Sheffield Wednesday earlier this year, and with the plethora of central defenders available to Paul McGuinness, the wide positions may initially be his best route into the side.

United fan Tyler attended the same Urmston school as academy team-mate Ravel Morrison and has represented England at U16 level (appearing in last year’s successful Victory Shield campaign), although he also remains eligible to play for Jamaica or Barbados through family ties.

JOE COLL
Goalkeeper
Born 2nd February 1994 in Meenlaragh, County Donegal, Ireland

http://i350.photobucket.com/albums/q439/ManUnitedYouth/Blog%20Graphics/MidArticle%20Photos/joecoll.jpg

Joe signed for the Reds back in March after Sir Alex Ferguson and academy director Brian McClair went to great lengths to secure the much-coveted keeper’s services in the face of competition from a host of Premier League clubs. Hailing from Meenlaragh in County Donegal, Irish-speaking Joe has played for local side Glenea United since the age of six and has been capped eight times by his country at Under-16 level, impressing enough to be somewhat predictably tagged ‘the new Shay Given’.

A big Celtic fan (United are his favourite English side), Joe’s biggest goalkeeping influence is Bhoys stopper Artur Boruc. Standing 6’1″ tall, the left-footed Irishman has ideal height for his position, especially considering his age, and boasts terrific reflexes, attributes shown when the 16 year-old appeared for the academy while on trial in last October’s friendly match against Maltese side Hibernians.

CHARNI EKANGAMENE
Forward
Born 16th February 1994 in Antwerp, Belgium

http://www.rafc.be/images/jpeg/news_2008/news20081116_01.jpg

United beat perennial title rivals Arsenal and Chelsea to the punch (as well as Dutch giants Ajax) when snapping up Charni Ekangamene from affiliate club Royal Antwerp in March 2009. A versatile young attacker with strength and pace in abundance, Antwerp youth coach Alex Verveckken has described Charni as “a great talent”, going on to add that the teenager “is mentally strong and never nervous.”

Belgian-born but of Congolese descent, Charni moved to Manchester earlier this year after turning 16 and made a surprising late-season appearance in the reserves’ 1-0 defeat at Wigan. He was unable to make much of an impression in a 15-minute cameo that day but will be given every chance to impress over the next couple of seasons.

LUKE HENDRIE
Midfielder
Born 27th August 1994 in Leeds

http://i350.photobucket.com/albums/q439/ManUnitedYouth/Blog%20Graphics/MidArticle%20Photos/lukehendrie.jpg

Son of former Bradford City and Middlesbrough forward John and second cousin of former Aston Villa and England midfielder Lee, Luke comes from a real footballing family. Having started out with his boyhood club Bradford, where his younger brother Jordan remains on the books, talented all-round athlete Luke followed in the footsteps of Tom Cleverley in making the move from the Bantams to Old Trafford and has regularly impressed at U15 and U16 level, notably as captain at last year’s Manchester United Premier Cup.

Primarily a central midfielder with an eye for goal and strong all-round game, Luke also showed his versatility when making his debut for England U16s against Wales last autumn in an unfamiliar right-back role. His final schoolboy season was cut short by a serious foot injury, but having already done enough to secure a scholarship, Luke should be fully fit and ready to go as pre-season training gets underway.

LIAM JACOB
Goalkeeper
Born 18th August 1994 in Sydney, Australia

Very much the mystery man of the new intake, Sydney-raised Liam is a graduate of the Australian city’s International Goalkeeper Academy and originally moved to England with Liverpool after a successful trial in late 2008. He appeared for the Merseyside club’s U18 and reserve sides last season aged just fifteen but also spent time on trial with United, during which he was an unused substitute in the U18s’ 2-0 win over Sunderland in March.

While Liam is definitely something of an unknown quantity, United’s decision to hand the reportedly-6’3″ stopper a scholarship despite having already signed a first-year ‘keeper in the form of Joe Coll earlier in the year suggests the club felt they couldn’t miss out on the opportunity to bring the young Aussie into the fold. The competition for the number one jersey at U18 level figures to be an intriguing aspect of the coming campaign.

TOM LAWRENCE
Forward
D.O.B. unknown, born in Wrexham, Wales

http://i350.photobucket.com/albums/q439/ManUnitedYouth/Blog%20Graphics/MidArticle%20Photos/tomlawrence.jpg

A lively, talented attacker comfortable both in a forward role or in midfield, Tom has been on United’s books for a number of years and has impressed at a number of youth tournaments, including Marveld and the Manchester United Premier Cup. Included in the U18 squad that travelled to Malta for a training camp last October, the Welsh teenager made the most of his opportunity by getting on the scoresheet in the 3-1 friendly win over Hibernians FC.

A Welsh Under-17 international, the Wrexham-born youngster scored on his debut for his country in a defeat to a Basque County U18 side back in February and has this week been named in the squad for a friendly tournament against Sweden later this month.

LUKE MCCULLOUGH
Centre-back
Born 15th February 1994 in Portadown, Northern Ireland

http://i350.photobucket.com/albums/q439/ManUnitedYouth/Blog%20Graphics/MidArticle%20Photos/lukemccullough.jpg

Already a first-teamer in the Irish League for Dungannon Swifts and captain of the Northern Ireland U17 side, Luke joins the Reds with a burgeoning reputation after his performances for club and country. Hailing from Portadown, the 16 year-old right-sided centre-back boosts the Northern Irish contingent at United to seven and has been compared with first-team star Jonny Evans due to his maturity and composure on the ball, with NI’s U17 boss stating that he “could be in the senior side very soon.”

Luke has starred at the Northern Ireland Milk Cup for County Armagh and impressed at Carrington during a number of trial spells, and while he’s a self-confessed Liverpool fan, so were Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and John O’Shea – if Luke fares half as well, United fans will have no cause for concern…

Young duo turn pro as Vermijl signing confirmed

Posted by nickogs20 on July 4, 2010

http://i350.photobucket.com/albums/q439/ManUnitedYouth/Blog%20Graphics/News%20Item%20Pics/vermijl_marnick.jpg

United have confirmed the signing of Belgian teenager Marnick Vermijl from Standard Liege and the award of professional contracts to goalkeeper Conor Devlin and striker John Cofie.

We brought news of Vermijl’s signing back in March and the club have now officially confirmed the arrival of the 18 year-old defender. No further details have been given, but assuming the information back in March was correct, Vermijl joins on a three-year deal worth €100,000 a year, with United paying Standard €220,000. Versatile enough to play anywhere across the back-line, the teenager is highly-rated in his homeland and his progress this season – most likely as part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reserve squad – will be extremely interesting to monitor.

Devlin being handed a professional contract is no surprise, the Northern Irishman having impressed over his two-year scholarship. After 36 appearances for the academy, the 18 year-old keeper will move up to reserve level this season and will expect to substantially build on his two appearances under Solskjaer so far, with the number one jersey for the second string very much his to lose. Cofie turning pro is a little more unexpected, the Ghana-born forward being only a year into his scholarship and having had an up-and-down first full season in the U18s, but with the majority of his fellow new second years having signed pro forms already, his new deal is further evidence of just how highly-rated this particular crop is.

Scottish defender David Gray has joined Preston North End on a free transfer.

The 22-year-old spent six years at United, progressing through the ranks from the Academy to the Reserves, and joins Darren Ferguson's side on a two-year deal.

Speaking to the official PNE website, Gray said: "I have been on loan for the last two seasons and now I have got a permanent move which I think I will enjoy.

"Preston have always been a solid Championship side for as long as I can remember. There are great traditions and it is a big club."

Gray will see a familiar face at Deepdale - young United midfielder Matty James joined the Lilywhites on a season-long loan deal earlier this month.

Lagi ya pemain dilepas gabung ke PNE, setw gw ini si Gray sering dimainin sama Opa kalo Piala Carling/friendly match gt. Mungkin kalah bersaing sm nama lain ya. Good Luck gray! :muscarf:

Craig Cathcart makes makes Seasiders switch - £500k deal seals move from Old Trafford

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/08/08/article-0-04FE882F000005DC-496_468x462.jpg

Manchester United defender Craig Cathcart is joining Premier League newcomers Blackpool in a £500,000 deal.

Pool boss Ian Holloway failed with a £350,000 offer for Cathcart, 21, last week but has had an improved bid accepted.

Northern Ireland international Cathcart has been with United since he was 14 but failed to notch a single first-team appearance and has been loaned out to Watford and Plymouth.

Holloway is also hopeful of completing deals for Derby striker Rob Hulse and Swansea front man Stephen Dobie this week.

Chairman Karl Oyston said: 'Various deals are being accepted and players are having medicals so with a bit of luck there will be one or two additions.'

Santos to sign Possebon

United midfielder Rodrigo Possebon is set to join Brazilian club Santos.

The deal is still in progress and is expected to be completed on Friday 20 August, but the two-times FIFA Club World Cup winners are keen to herald Possebon's imminent arrival.

A story on the Santos website on Thursday night (UK time) spoke of a four-year deal and the player, born in Brazil but an Italy U20 international, is quoted as saying: "It is a unique opportunity and I will work hard to give my best here. I hope to play a lot of football."

Possebon, now 21, joined United in January 2008 from Brazilian side Internacional and made his first-team debut as a substitute on the opening day of the 2008/09 season.

Since then, however, he has managed just eight first-team appearances, although he's often impressed for the Reserves. He spent the first half of last season on loan at Sporting Braga in Portugal before returning to Old Trafford in January 2010.

kasian bocah ini.. sebelum cedera karna tekel horor Pogatez.. doi sempet menjadi bintang.... sayang cedera bikin rusak semua impiannya... mudah mudahan doi bisa bangkit lagi di Santos... Good luck Rodrigo.......

Carlisle Utd sign the 'new David Beckham' from Man Utd
16 September 2010

http://www.newsandstar.co.uk/polopoly_fs/oliver-norwood-photo-1.758888!image/2919181760.jpg_gen/derivatives/wholeColumn/2919181760.jpg

Carlsle United have swooped to sign Manchester United midfield prodigy Oliver Norwood - a player described as a “genius” by his international boss and dubbed the new David Beckham.

Blues manager Greg Abbott today moved to capture the 19-year-old Northern Ireland set-piece expert on a one-month loan deal after it was revealed that captain Paul Thirlwell will be out for up to four weeks with a knee injury.

Norwood, who made his full international debut last month despite never having made a league appearance for any club, could go straight into the side for unbeaten United’s home clash with Brighton tomorrow after training with his new team-mates for the first time.

The playmaker follows fellow Red Devil loanee James Chester to Brunton Park and is further evidence of United’s burgeoning relationship with the Old Trafford giants. Abbott’s friendship with their reserve team coach and former Hull team-mate Warren Joyce paved the way for Chester’s pre-season arrival and now the loan window signing of Norwood.

The teenager, who has been on Manchester United’s books since the age of seven, is known for his dead-ball expertise and admits he models himself on Beckham.

“I take a bag of balls out onto the training ground on my own, set up the mannequins and take a few free-kicks,” Norwood said.

“I’ve read David Beckham’s books. I think it’s fantastic what he’s achieved and it makes you realise if you put the work in and practice just what you can achieve.

“You can’t always be coached, sometimes you’ve got to do it yourself.”

Northern Ireland manager Nigel Worthington, who brought Norwood off the bench for his first full cap on August 11 in a 2-0 friendly defeat in Montenegro, has described the young midfielder as a big star of the future.

“The lad is a genius,” said Worthington. “He is going to be a very good player. What he can do with the ball from free-kicks is remarkable. You always know that eight or nine times out of 10, he is going to score when he places the ball for a free-kick.”

Burnley-born Norwood represented England at youth levels but qualifies for Northern Ireland through his grandparents and opted to play for their Under-19, Under-21 and ‘B’ sides before making his full debut.

“I think a lot of the lads who go away with England have got massive egos,” said Norwood,” explaining his decision. “I think that takes over sometimes. With the Northern Ireland lads that they are all down to earth and only bothered about the football side of things.

“If I was still with England I’d only be in the under-19 squad. I wouldn’t get anywhere near the under-21 squad because all those guys are in the first-team squads at their clubs. I’ve committed myself and I’m happy with the decision.”

Abbott spoke of his delight at Norwood’s arrival and is expecting big things from the youngster.

The United manager said: “Oliver is one we have known about for a while and the fact he has been selected at international level shows the quality that he has.

“He has had a fantastic morning in training and he is one we are really looking forward to working with.”

Norwood could come into the side to face Gus Poyet’s Brighton as a straight replacement for Thirlwell, who was today told he had suffered a medial ligament sprain in his knee.

The 31-year-old skipper, who has been in influential form in Abbott’s ‘diamond’ midfield system, suffered the injury in the first minute of last Saturday’s 1-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday but played on and completed the game.

If the United boss opts not to start Norwood against the Seagulls he could instead call up Peter Murphy, Ben Marshall or Matty Robson. Kevan Hurst and Marc Bridge-Wilkinson are again set to miss out as they continue their comebacks from injury.

Eikrem follows Solskjaer to Molde
By Chris, January 15 2011 | Manutdweb

Midfielder Magnus Wolff Eikrem has followed Ole Gunnar Solksjaer to Molde FK. The 20-year-old has signed a permanent deal with the Norwegian club, having failed to register a senior appearance for Manchester United.

The closest Eikrem got to a first-team appearance for United was as an unused substitute in a third-round League Cup win over Wolves.

Often earmarked as the creative spark in United's reserve-team midfield, Eikrem has Manchester Senior Cup and Lancashire Senior Cup medals and is regarded by many as being an excellent prospect for the future.

Solskjaer was a keen admirer of the attack-minded playmaker and has moved quickly to snap him up at Molde.

37-year-old Solskjaer recently quit at United reserve-team boss to become manager of is former club.

Young centre-back James Chester joined the Tigers from Manchester United in January 2011, signing a deal that will keep him at the KC Stadium until 2014.

Arriving on the back of an impressive six-month loan at League One Carlisle United, Chester joined fellow United Academy graduates Paul McShane and Cameron Stewart as manager Nigel Pearson looked to bolster his options at the heart of defence.

Etzaz Hussain from the United Vålerenga
17-year-old returns to Vålerenga after two years in England.

Longhouse-boy Etzaz Hussain (17) returns to Norway Vålerenga after two years in Manchester untied.

Hussain, who turns 18 in late January, has played for Manchester United youth player development the past two years, but is now very close to a transition to Vålerenga.

- Vålerenga a natural choice
Youngster played the second half when Vålerenga lost 1-4 for HamKam in a friendly on Tuesday.

Hussain says he is going to sign a 2.5-year contract with the VIF.

- I wanted to go home and when the VIF was a natural choice since I'm from the Oslo area. Reserve team (Manchester United, journ.anm.) And the Premier League is about the same standard. VIF has something exciting going on and I wanted to go home. So when the VIF was on course, the choice was easy, "Hussain told TV 2 Sport.

- Agree with United
Vålerenga writes on his VIF-fotball.no that they are in dialogue with Manchester United on a transfer, but the player is still formally United's property. Coach Martin Andresen, says that the club agrees with United about the transition.

- We agree with United, we agree with Etzaz, but the agreement signing is not clear. We expect and hope that it goes in order, "he said.

Andresen is happy to get Hussein to the club.

- It is natural that he ends up here. Unfortunately, he was picked up by United and he has been a while. Now he comes to where he belongs, "he told TV 2 Sport.

Current A-team
- Will he be in the A-team discussion?

- He is on the border between the recruitment team and the A-team, so he is a potential A-lagsspiller the long term.

Hussain trainees with Vålerenga the Junior Elite Tournament (JET) in Hamar in 2008 and impressed. Not long after he was brought to the English big club.

Stewart signs for Hull

Hull City have made Cameron Stewart's loan move to the KC Stadium permanent on transfer deadline day.

The 19-year-old attacker was on loan at Yeovil Town earlier this season but joined Championship side Hull in November and has since made a string of impressive displays. His loan deal was initially extended until the end of the season, but the Tigers have moved to make the deal permanent.

Withington-born Stewart grew up at United and graduate through the Reds' Academy and Reserves. He has played for England at Under-17 and Under-19 level.

Speaking to Hull City's official website, Tigers boss Nigel Pearson said: "We are absolutely delighted to have secured Cameron's services on a permanent deal. He is a player who has shown plenty of promise during his time here so far and he has a very bright future in the game."

31st January 2011 - dailymail

.....

United have allowed midfielder Cameron Stewart to turn his loan to Hull into a permanent deal, but blocked a similar move for Corry Evans who is also on loan at the KC Stadium.

Jadi ya Fergie pasti nggak sembarangan ngelepas pemaen. Hanya pemaen yang dirasa potensinya mentok yang dilepas. Hanya memang ada beberapa pemaen yang malah bagus setelah dilepas seperti Shawcross. Karena itu moga Fergie nggak lupa klausul first option.

Drinkwater to Watford on Loan ; Opa Helps me decide....:)

Manchester United midfielder Danny Drinkwater discusses why he swapped Cardiff City for Watford

5:10pm Tuesday 1st February 2011
By Frank Smith » watfordobserver.co.uk

It has been a manic eight days for Danny Drinkwater. The midfielder started last week a Cardiff City player but after being recalled by parent club Manchester United, he quickly popped south on Friday to complete a loan move to Watford before returning to the North West.

Drinkwater was ineligible to play in the FA Cup on Saturday after featuring in Cardiff City’s third round replay with Stoke City so went ‘home’ for a family party at the weekend before returning back to Watford ahead of his first training session yesterday.

The England Under-21 international described his first Watford session as “very high quality” when speaking to the Watford Observer yesterday afternoon and confirmed he was fit to play a part in tonight’s match with Crystal Palace.

Very few Hornets fans will have seen Drinkwater play during his spells at Cardiff and Huddersfield Town. The United youngster describes himself as “a box-to-box midfielder” and someone who “likes to link the play up and doesn’t mind the odd tackle as well.”

Drinkwater was keen to end his season-long loan with Cardiff City early after his chance of football was limited further by the arrival of Arsenal duo Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Aaron Ramsey.

He explained: “Sometimes you have spells in your career where you don’t play but I am only young and I just want to play football, so I think coming back from Cardiff was the right thing to do.

“The United gaffer agreed it was the right thing to come back and be loaned out again.

“I had a good start and Dave Jones seemed to be happy with me but then I got an injury and was in and out of the squad. I was then ill and didn’t really get a chance after that.

“I insisted on coming back but Sir Alex agreed with what I wanted to do. And the Cardiff gaffer seemed ok about it, it didn’t end on a bad note. It is just a shame to leave midway through the season.

“But I am looking forward to getting my chance here and I am looking forward to the experience.”

Watford manager Malky Mackay has thanked Sir Alex Ferguson for tipping him off over Drinkwater (click here (http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/8823627.Mackay_thanks_Sir_Alex_for_tip_off/)) and the midfielder said both the Manchester United manager and former Watford loanee Tom Cleverley praised the club and Mackay.

Drinkwater said: “The gaffer called me in and said there were a few clubs interested and named them and he mentioned Watford, their position in the Championship and their past relationship with United as a club and previous players, so I decided to come here.”

“Sir Alex spoke very highly of Malky and I spoke to Tom as well and he spoke very highly of him as well, it was all positive,” Drinkwater said.

“Tom was saying how good the lads are and that the fans are good. He was saying how much he enjoyed himself down here and how much it helped his career, so I am looking forward to it.

“I want to gain some experience and hopefully achieve promotion.”

Eikrem signed a 3 year contract with the Norwegian team but Ole was quick to point out United would have ‘first dibs’ on him in the future.

He was presented at a presser today having been spotted at Molde’s first training session of the season.

United can confirm that Joe Dudgeon has completed his proposed move to Hull City.

The 20-year-old full-back has left the Reds for an undisclosed fee after agreeing a three-year contract with his new club.

All the paperwork has now been completed for the deal to be processed.

Although injury curtailed a loan spell with Carlisle, the Leeds-born defender has impressed at reserve-team level and will link up with former colleagues James Chester, Cameron Stewart and Corry Evans at the KC Stadium.

Dudgeon is in the frame to win the Reserve Player of the Year, along with Oliver Gill and Scott Wootton, with the result due to be announced on ManUtd.com next Wednesday.

We wish Joe all the best in his future career and it will be fascinating to see how Nigel Pearson's Tigers fare next season with so many ex-Reds on show.

Sayang, padahal Evans dulu salah satu pemaen muda yang dinilai paling potensial. Hanya mungkin karena sekarang ada Tunnicliffe dan Pogba yang posisinya sama jadi pertimbangan ngelepas dia.

Evans seals Hull switch
12/05/2011 12:42, Report by Nick Coppack

Corry Evans has made his loan move to Hull City permanent, signing a three-year deal at the KC Stadium for an undisclosed fee.

The 20-year-old younger brother of United defender Jonny has been on loan at the Tigers since January and made 18 appearances.

A Northern Ireland international, Evans had been included in a handful of United first-team squads during his time at Old Trafford but never made a senior appearance.

He joins Hull City just 24 hours after another Red, Joe Dudgeon, made the move. Former United players James Chester and Cameron Stewart are also at the KC Stadium, having signed permanent deals in January 2011.

WHO ever said dreams can’t come true? Try telling that to Ruairi Croskery, who is set to embark on the chance of a lifetime after being offered a scholarship to play for his beloved Manchester United.

The Annsborough teenager, a deadly finisher in the Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez mould, has been part of the Red Devils’ Centre of Excellence in Lisburn since the tender age of nine, and five years and hundreds of goals later, well-known United scout Eddie Coulter says the talented 14-year-old has what it takes to make it to the top.

And Eddie Coulter is a man who knows talent when he sees it. Current United stars Jonny Evans and Darron Gibson, as well as ex-Reds Keith Gillespie and Killyleagh’s own David Healy are just some of the names to have benefitted from Eddie’s tutelage down the years as he helped them secure moves to the Theatre of Dreams.

Speaking to the Mourne Observer, Eddie insisted young Ruairi was “every bit as good” as Northern Ireland hero Healy at the same age.
“There’s no doubt about that,” he said. “Healy was a tremendous finisher, and so is Ruairi. He’s a natural finisher, and he’s two-footed, which you need to be in the modern game.

“He’s a nice boy too, there’s no big head or nothing. He just wants to get on with it.”

http://www.mourneobserver.com/images/Croskery-1_000.jpg

Having been offered a scholarship with United, Ruairi will travel back and forth to Manchester until he turns 16, when he will move to England permanently. However, as scout Eddie revealed, the St Malachy’s High School pupil has already caught the eye of the main man at Old Trafford.

“Sir Alex [Ferguson] watched him playing one day against Chelsea at Carrington and he liked him. The rest of the players were all 16 and Ruairi was only 14, and Ferguson told me that himself,” said Eddie.

“It’s a great opportunity for him and I hope he takes it because he’s got really good potential. They’re a good family too, really smashing people, so I’m delighted for them.”

High praise indeed, and Ruairi just can’t wait for his opportunity to become part of the world famous Manchester United story.

He said: “It’s hard to believe I’ll be a Man United player, training every day at the club. I’m just looking forward to being part of it all.”

Dad Dolen is understandably proud of his son’s achievement, and says he always believed Ruairi had the talent and the work ethic to succeed.
“He’s done well. The first year I brought him over to Lisburn he scored 76 goals that season, and Eddie approached us early about him going into the School of Excellence, and he’s really kicked on since then,” explained Dolen.

“Eddie and Tony Coulter have been a massive help too. We all owe them a debt of gratitude. We’re all United supporters. He’s going to be in with the best, and at one of the best academies for bringing boys through. If you can’t learn there as a player and an individual, you’re not going to learn anywhere.”

Talented teen picked for England squad
http://menmedia.co.uk/trafford/news/s/1120308_talented_teen_picked_for_england_squad

A YOUNG footballer has proved a real rising star after scoring a spot on the England youth squad aged just 13.

Elliot Rokka, a pupil at North Cestrian Grammar School, Altrincham, has been in Manchester United Football Academy for two years.

He was picked by talent scouts for the North West Schools Squad and from there recruited to the England under-17s team.

Elliot said: "We went to a competition with the North West Schools team where there were scouts for the England team. They chose 22 kids to play a match and from that chose 15 for the team.

"I didn’t know I had been picked until I got home – but I was really excited when I found out."

A keen Manchester United supporter, Elliot has enjoyed his time at the football academy, adding: "The training and coaching are really good and I got to travel to Switzerland and Italy for competitions, which was brilliant."

He also excels at athletics, representing North Cestrian at the North West Independent Schools’ Association Athletics Championships, where he holds the cross-country champion title.

But football is Elliot’s first love.

The Warrington teenager said: "I definitely prefer football, but the athletics stuff is useful because it keeps my fitness levels up." He is now looking forward to his first competition with the England squad, the Repton Festival 2009 this summer.

The tournament is held in August at Repton School, Derby, between teams of youngsters from all over Europe.

Because the competition involves club teams as well as country ones, a team from the Manchester United Academy is also going – so Elliot will have to pick a side.

But he says it was not a difficult decision. "I knew I wanted to play for the England squad and, luckily, when I went to my managers at Manchester United they said they would support me," he said.

"I am really looking forward to the Repton Festival – it will be exciting to play for my country for the first time."

Martin Sharpe, a teacher at North Cestrian, says they are all very proud of Elliot.

He said: "He is a terrific kid. He works hard in lessons and balances his sporting demands against his school career.

"He is very level-headed, considering everything that has happened to him, and he is definitely one of football’s bright young stars."

Confirmed: United striker makes Germany move
Manchester United - Joshua King set for loan deal to the Bundesliga

By Nick Howson June 22, 2011
Givemefootball

Borussia Monchengladbach have confirmed that Manchester United forward Joshua King is set for a season long loan with the club.

The 19-year-old has seen his first-team opportunities limited at Old Trafford and following a three-month spell with Preston, will get more playing time in Germany next season.

King showed a glimpse of his potential when scoring his first professional goal for North End against Stockport County last season, and Max Eberl has confirmed a deal is in place between themselves and United.

"We have an agreement with Manchester United for a loan of one year. United presented very extensive contract work because they care intensely about their players and would like to stay in constant contact with us.

"The contracts must be translated and checked, that's now going back and forth between the lawyers of the two clubs. Our goal is to have him in Bad Worishofen next Monday."

Born in Oslo, King has made two appearance for the Norway U19's, scoring on both occasions.

Manchester United Transfer News: Ravel Morrison Sold, Red Devils May Regret It

http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv189/zudomiriku/zudo%20II/zudo%20III/130256295_crop_650x440.jpg

Sir Alex Ferguson is one of the best managers ever in football and he is one of the main reasons for Manchester United's dominance in English football for the last two decades.

The experienced Red Devils manager has made several astute signings in the past but one of the main factors for their extended success is nurturing young talents from the academy who have gone on to establish themselves as world-class players. Players like Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs have played for United throughout their career and have shown high professionalism to go with their undoubted quality which has contributed immensely to their success.

He has been instrumental in the development of young players and has always looked to integrate talented youngsters into the first team. This is why it is surprising that Manchester United have sold Ravel Morrison to West Ham in this January transfer window. The teenager is very highly rated but has failed to establish himself at United due to various reasons.

Though Ferguson is likely to have his own reasons for letting the youngster leave on such a nominal fee, it could still be a move which he could regret in the future, and here are five reasons why it could be the case.

Youngsters with Problems Have Gone on to Become World-Class Players
There are a number of talented youngsters, who have caused some troubles at a young age and it is very difficult for the managers to deal with the current crop of youngsters, who are paid quite well right from a very young age. Some of these youngsters do not make it to the top level due to their attitude but there are others who mature as they develop and do utilize their talent to good effect.

One clear example is Arsenal captain Robin van Persie, who was outrageously talented but had problems when he was young.

However, under the guidance of Arsene Wenger and some other experienced players, he has grown not only into a world-class striker but also into a fine captain. Similarly, Ravel Morrison is very talented but needs to work on his attitude to the game in the future if he wants to succeed at the highest level. Though it will take plenty of effort from the manager and the player itself, he still has the time to sort out his future and grow into a superb player.

Morrison Has the Potential to Become a World-Class Player
Ravel Morrison is a player who genuinely has the talent to become a world-class player in the future and it takes plenty of time and investment to nurture a talent, especially someone as volatile as Morrison.

However, with Morrison moving to West Ham United, they will not be able to enjoy his best years of football. There have always been some very talented players in the Manchester United academy, but not many are as gifted as young Morrison, which is why they would have been reluctant to sell him.

The English youngster is clearly very talented but the question is whether he has the right attitude to realize his immense potential. Sir Alex Ferguson is one of the greatest managers in the game and if he cannot get the best out of Morrison, then it is bound to be a difficult but not an impossible task for other managers.

However, Sam Allardyce will hope that he can get the best from the player and if that is the case, then Ferguson could regret not holding onto the midfielder.

Could Sir Alex Ferguson Have Done Things Differently to Hold onto Morrison?
Sir Alex Ferguson is excellent when it comes down to man management of his players and he played his cards expertly in the last season to convince Wayne Rooney of the ambitions of the club. Not only did the striker stay at the club, but also managed to recapture his old form by good management.

However with regard to youngster Ravel Morrison, one wonders whether he could have done anything different to hold onto the talented youngster.

Manchester United failed to agree terms of a new contract with Morrison and with the youngster proving to be too difficult to handle for even a club like United, Ferguson did decide to sell him. Ferguson has said that his wage demands were unrealistic and that was the reason why he had not signed a new contract, while Morrison insisted that it was not about wages.

However, the fact that Ferguson decided to speak openly about the situation did not do good for the Red Devils, as Morrison was finally sold by the club.

Nominal Transfer Fee for a Superb Talent
Ravel Morrison is potentially a player who could be worth as much as £30 million if he was to play to his potential in a few years. He is one of the best talents to emerge from the academy and could have made an immense impact for United if he is focused on the game. He showed in the Youth Cup tournament that he has the quality to be successful at the highest level.

However, with his contract running down and the youngster looking for a move, Manchester United have been forced to settle for a very nominal transfer fee though they could possibly have a sell-on clause like Arsenal had when they sold David Bentley and some others. United have not reaped much financial benefit of a talent who has the ability to be a top midfielder in the future.

Manchester United's Long-Term Solution for Attacking Midfield Role
Paul Scholes has been one of the greatest midfielders to play for Manchester United under the long reign of Sir Alex Ferguson and has been one of the most vital players for United. Though he was primarily an attacking midfielder during the best years of his careers, he seamlessly adjusted to a deeper role in midfield where he can still influence the play.

When he retired at the end of the last season, it seemed like Tom Cleverley would be the player who could benefit and he made a superb impact before struggling with injuries this season. It has meant that Ferguson has brought back Scholes back from retirement and the English midfielder continues to show why he is such an important player for the team.

Ravel Morrison had the talent to become a world-class midfielder at Manchester United and, importantly, could play in attacking midfield with Cleverly supporting him in central midfield as well. However, with him leaving the club, it is important for United that they can improve Cleverley's long-term fitness as well because he will be a very vital player in the coming years.
