Stunning comeback rocks Charlton
Soccernet - August 10, 2010

League Two Shrewsbury produced an astonishing fightback from 3-0 down to beat League One Charlton 4-3 in the first round of the Carling Cup at Greenhous Meadow.

The Addicks had appeared to be cruising as Pawel Abbott's first goals for the club and a strike from Lee Martin put them in control. But Jake Robinson and a Yado Mambo own goal put the Shrews back in it by half-time, and Daniel O'Donnell and Matt Harrold completed the turnaround.

Substitute James Hanson scored an extra-time winner as Bradford City caused a upset by beating Championship side Nottingham Forest 2-1 in a pulsating first-round tie at Valley Parade.

League Two Bradford had already come back from 1-0 down to force the tie into extra-time when they were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the penalty area in the 100th minute. Simon Ramsden's low right-foot shot was blocked by keeper Lee Camp and, in the ensuing scramble, Hanson - last season's leading scorer - forced the ball over the line.

Neil Warnock found himself on the wrong end of an embarrassing upset as QPR were dumped out by League Two Port Vale in a 3-1 loss.

A flurry of early goals propelled Leeds to an impressive 4-0 victory against lacklustre Lincoln in the first round at Elland Road. The Championship side recovered from an opening day defeat to Derby in emphatic fashion and were set on the way by first-half goals from Jonathan Howson, Luciano Becchio and Lloyd Sam.

Neil Kilkenny's penalty added to the tally after the break as the Red Imps were condemned to an opening round exit for the fifth successive season.

Two goals from David Norris ensured Ipswich boss Roy Keane enjoyed his 39th birthday, but the Tractor Boys needed extra-time to see off brave Exeter with a 3-2 win.

Summer signing Andy Fleming had a dream debut as he scored both Morecambe goals in a superb 2-0 win over Coventry.

Leicester advanced at the expense of Macclesfield for the second successive season after defeating the League Two club 4-3 at the Walkers Stadium.

A stoppage-time goal by Alan Lee gave Crystal Palace a 1-0 victory in a pulsating first-round tie against Yeovil at Huish Park.

Darren Pratley signalled his commitment to Swansea as they booked their place in the second round with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Barnet.

The midfielder, who is keen on a switch to interested Nottingham Forest according to Reds chief executive Mark Arthur, grabbed the killer second goal for the Swans before taking off his shirt and celebrating in what appeared to be a show of loyalty to the home fans.

Shaun Barker's own-goal ensured Derby's former Crewe contingent suffered an unhappy homecoming as the Rams suffered a shock 1-0 defeat.

County included Alex old boys Robbie Savage, Rob Hulse, John Brayford and James Bailey in their side, but their former club did not roll out the welcome mat.

MK Dons came from behind as Jabo Ibehre's double saw them beat Dagenham and Redbridge 2-1. Damien McCrory had given the visitors a 13th-minute lead.

Captain Grant Holt marked his return to the Norwich starting line-up with a brace and an assist to help his side to a 4-1 first-round victory over Gillingham at Carrow Road.

Jordan Rhodes grabbed his second goal of the season in the 89th minute as Huddersfield secured a 1-0 win at Carlisle.

Preston cruised past League Two Stockport following a dominant second-half performance. as they won 5-0.

Doubles from Simon Heslop and James Constable helped Oxford on the way to a 6-1 hammering of Bristol Rovers at the Kassam Stadium. Jack Midson and Matthew Green grabbed their other goals.

Southampton beat League One rivals Bournemouth 2-0 at St Mary's thanks to a strike from Adam Lallana and Alex Chamberlain's first senior goal.

Giles Coke got the only goal as Sheffield Wednesday beat Bury while Ian Goodison's tap-in was enough for Tranmere to win 1-0 at Walsall.

Northampton were 2-0 winners over ten-man Brighton as early goals from teenager Michael Jacobs and Billy McKay sealed the win before Matthew Sparrow saw red in the 36th minute.

Danny Graham scored twice for the second successive game as Watford progressed into the Carling Cup second round after easing past Aldershot 3-0.

Martyn Woolford snatched an 83rd-minute winner as Scunthorpe survived a Carling Cup scare against League One Oldham. Djeny Bembo had given the visitors side the lead midway through the first half, but Jonathan Forte turned his constant threat into a goal for the Championship outfit with 25 minutes remaining.

League One Colchester were too strong for League Two Hereford as they recorded a 3-0 win at Edgar Street thanks to goals from David Mooney (2) and Ian Henderson.

Robbie Simpson and Craig Woodman helped Brentford to a 2-1 win over Cheltenham, Shaun Jeffers getting the goal back for the visitors.

Peterborough cruised to a 4-1 win over Rotherham at London Road. Marcus Marshall had given the Millers an early lead but Ryan Bennett, George Boyd, Aaron McLean and Craig Mackail-Smith all got on the scoresheet for their League One hosts.

Former Liverpool trainee Craig Lindfield struck an extra-time winner to steer Accrington through with a shock 2-1 victory at Doncaster. Josh Payne's 47th-minute strike put the hosts on course for victory but League Two outfit Stanley drew level in the 83rd minute when substitute Chris Turner fired home.

Leyton Orient came from a goal down to beat fellow League One side Swindon 2-1. Jon-Paul McGovern had put the Robins ahead but second-half efforts from Ryan Jarvis and Alex Revell gave the visitors the win.

John Spicer's strike saw Notts County claim a 1-0 victory at Plymouth. Rochdale striker Anthony Elding dumped new-look Barnsley out of the Carling Cup with his first goal for the club.

Southend United edged Bristol City in a five-goal thriller, Wycombe lost 2-1 at home to Millwall and Middlesbrough defeated Chesterfield 2-1.

@ Bang Andi
peserta Carling emang lebih terbatas, hanya 4 divisi, dari EPL s.d. League Two

Carling / League CUP

First round
All clubs playing in The Football League (the Football League Championship, Football League One and Football League Two), unless they are competing in the UEFA Europa League, enter at this stage and join any Preliminary Round winners. Sometimes (depending on the number of clubs competing in Europe, whether or not they play in The Football League and whether a preliminary round would be an easier way to even up the numbers) it is necessary to give one or more clubs a bye to the second round. The clubs would be those eligible to compete in the First Round who finished highest in the English football league system last season (normally clubs relegated from the Premier League).

For this round, the clubs are divided in northern and southern sections (though not always equally, so there could be more clubs in one section than another and, strangely, some of the clubs in the northern section are actually located further south than some of the southern section clubs). Half of the clubs from each section are seeded and half are not. First a draw is made to determine whether the seeded club is to play at home or away, and then the club is drawn against an unseeded club from their section.

The ties are single matches, with extra time and a penalty shootout if necessary, with the winners progressing to the next round.

Second round
All clubs playing in the Premier League, unless they are competing in the UEFA Champions League or Europa League, as well as any clubs that may have been given a bye to this round, enter at this stage and join the First Round winners, although Manchester City were not exempt in 2008–09, having qualified for the UEFA Cup through the Fair Play league.

The ties are single matches, with extra time and a penalty shootout if necessary, with the winners progressing to the next round.

Third round
All clubs competing in the UEFA Champions League or Europa League enter at this stage and join the Second Round winners (making for a total of 32 clubs).

The ties are single matches, with extra time and a penalty shootout if necessary, with the winners progressing to the next round.

FA CUP

Eligible teams
All clubs in the Premier League and Football League are automatically eligible, and clubs in the next six levels of the English football league system are also eligible provided they have played in either the FA Cup, FA Trophy or FA Vase competitions in the previous season. Newly formed clubs that start playing in a high league, such as AFC Wimbledon or FC United of Manchester, may not therefore play in the FA Cup in their first season. All clubs entering the competition must also have a suitable stadium. It is very rare for top clubs to miss the competition, although it can happen in exceptional circumstances. Manchester United withdrew from the 1999–2000 competition due to their participation in the FIFA Club World Championship, although this was highly controversial at the time.

Welsh sides that play in English leagues are eligible, although since the creation of the League of Wales there are only six such clubs remaining: Cardiff City (the only non-English team to win the tournament, in 1927), Swansea City, Wrexham, Merthyr Tydfil, Newport County and Colwyn Bay. In the early years other teams from Wales, Ireland and Scotland also took part in the competition, with Glasgow side Queen's Park reaching the final in 1884 and 1885 before being barred from entering by the Scottish Football Association.

The number of entrants has increased greatly in recent years. In the 2004–05 season, 660 clubs entered the competition, beating the long-standing record of 656 from the 1921–22 season. In 2005–06 this increased to 674 entrants, in 2006–07 to 687, in 2007–08 to 731 clubs, and for the 2008–09 and 2009–10 competitions it reached 762. By comparison, the other major English domestic cup, the League Cup, involves only the 92 members of the Premier League and Football League.

Parker saves Hammers, Blackpool out
Soccernet - August 24, 2010

Scott Parker spared West Ham's blushes against Oxford by scoring the winner with a right-foot shot deep into injury time to send the Hammers through to the third round of the Carling Cup.

The match proved to be a test for the Hammers with Oxford bringing good saves from goalkeeper Marek Stech following efforts by James Constable and Asa Hall while Simon Heslop and Harry Worley were narrowly wide.

Parker came close 10 minutes from time while Carlton Cole had an effort ruled out for offside after 88 minutes before the former settled the match in the Premier League side's favour.

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway missed his side's 4-3 humiliation at the hands of League One side MK Dons as Lewis Guy scored an extra-time winner in the round two clash.

The home side led in the first minute through Sam Baldock before Brett Ormerod brought the visitors level after the break. Jermaine Easter then netted twice in as many minutes before a free-kick from Ludovic Sylvestre gave Blackpool a lifeline.

Ormerod also had two close-range efforts disallowed for offside before a late penalty from substitute Charlie Adam took the game into extra-time when Guy struck the winner. Holloway had chosen to miss the game at stadiummk in favour of watching a transfer target elsewhere, leaving his assistant Steve Thompson in charge.

Blackburn's on-loan striker Mame Diouf proved to be the difference between the two sides as he scored a hat-trick to beat Norwich 3-1.

The Senegal international, who arrived from Manchester United earlier this month, marked his full Rovers debut by heading the opener in the 29th minute. Diouf, 22, also hit the crossbar from close range after the interval before stabbing home his second 11 minutes from time and nodding in a third before Jens Berthal Askou's 90th-minute consolation.

Colchester keeper Mark Cousins gifted England international Darren Bent a double as Sunderland eased through with a 2-0 win.

Errors from Cousins allowed Bent to strike after 20 and 37 minutes and secure the Black Cats' first victory of the season. The League One side went close through Anthony Wordsworth and David Perkins ether side of the break, but substitute Martyn Waghorn hit the bar late on.

Ivan Klasnic marked his first start since rejoining Bolton by firing Owen Coyle's much-changed side through 1-0 against Southampton.

The Croatian striker, whose selection was one of nine changes made by Coyle, tucked away a knock-down from former Southampton frontman Kevin Davies with half an hour gone. Bolton were also indebted to a fine display from debutant goalkeeper Adam Bogdan, who kept League One Saints at bay with a string of fine saves from Adam Lallana, Lee Barnard and Jason Puncheon.

Richard Stearman's struck in the final minute of extra-time to give Wolves a 2-1 victory over Southend. Wolves took the lead through Nenad Milijas' first-half penalty after Sam Winnall was fouled by Chris Barker.

Shrimpers captain Craig Easton pulled back a deserved equaliser for the npower League Two side in the 80th minute, but Stearman had the final say after an additional 30 minutes.

Jon Walters helped steer Stoke through with his first goal for the club in a 2-1 win over Shrewsbury.

The former Ipswich forward, who arrived last week, made the breakthrough in the 26th minute. Eleven minutes later Tuncay added a second, both goals coming from headers, while Steve Leslie replied for the League Two side.

Jordi Gomez fired a stunning late free-kick to finally breathe fire into Wigan's season as they cruised to a 2-1 win at Hartlepool.

Sam Collins' third minute own goal immediately eased the pressure on boss Roberto Martinez but Joe Gamble had a fine chance to equalise for the home side. As Hartlepool tired, Gomez slammed his 25-yard free-kick home off the underside of the bar and substitute Victor Moses added the third four minutes from time.

Pablo Ibanez scored his first goal for West Brom as the Baggies won 2-0 at Leyton Orient. Scott McGleish had the best early chance for the npower League One side, but his low strike was turned around the post by Boaz Myhill.

Ibanez - signed from Atletico Madrid in the summer - headed in on 12 minutes for a much-changed Baggies side, with substitute Chris Wood slotting home a second during stoppage time.

The Reds defeated Wolves (1-0), Barnsley (2-0), Tottenham (2-0) en route to the semi-finals, which produced two memorable encounters with neighbours Manchester City - United winning 4-3 on aggregate.

Third round matches played week commencing 20 September.

@bung andi.
Lha pas di posting atasanya dah ditulis tanggal 30 september maennya. Klo disiarin ya pasti oleh MUTV,he.. TV yang punya hak siar pasti lebih tertarik nayangin partai spurs vs arsenal yang lebih pasti lebih seru. Jadi ya kemungkinan nggak ditayangin.

Semoga line up-nya amos, rafael, evans, smalling, fabio, obertan, gibson,cl everley (klo nggak dipinjemin),chicharito dan macheda plus 1 gelandang pengalaman.

Mau ikut langganan tapi cuman MUTV tanpa embel2 channel laen.

Oh ya bebe. Moga dia dah cukup fit saat itu. Biar nggak makin penasaran nih.
