A dream come true
http://picsrv.manutd.com/?fif=/manu/img_10_30131_8532.jpg&obj=iip,1.0&wid=500
Tom Cleverley admitted he had realised a boyhood dream, by bagging his first Stretford End strike in the Reds’ friendly victory over Valencia.
The combative young midfielder calmly stroked home the second goal in a deserved victory, capping an impressive all-round display in style.
Speaking to MUTV after the match, Tom beamed: “It’s every boy’s dream, isn’t it? I couldn’t ask for much better. When I found out I was in the squad I was delighted, and I wouldn’t have thought I’d be standing there, after I’d scored at the Stretford End!
“It’s what you strive for, to get in the first team and to score at the Stretford End. I’ve seen my friend (Danny) Welbeck do it and I was jealous of him when he did it (against Stoke last season), now I’ve done it and I’m just so proud.”
Naturally, Tom is already hankering for further senior involvement after his impressive outing, but he concedes that he has no idea what the coming season holds for him.
“I was told last week I’d be training with the first team this week, then I got put in the squad," he said. "It’s all happened a bit fast, but obviously it’s my first game at Old Trafford for the first team but I think I did well.
“When you train with the first team day in, day out it makes you work harder and see you can do it. I want to play in the first team here and get a look-in. It doesn’t come much better than playing with those sorts of players and in that sort of stadium, so now I’ve had a taste I want more now.
“I’m not too sure (what the future holds), to be honest. The plan was to go on loan , but I’ll just see if I figure in the Gaffer’s plans now and just take every game as it comes.”
Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed that Cleverley is highly-coveted property, and admits that he is still undecided on how best to further the youngster's undoubted promise.
"We don’t know what to do, in fairness," he said. "A lot of clubs have been in for him, one or two Premier division teams in fact. He’s going to be a good player, the boy. He does need experience of playing, and it’s something that I’m looking at, whether we put him out on loan."

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson admits winger Tom Cleverly has given him a dilemma.
Cleverly struck in last night's 2-0 victory over Valencia.
The Basingstoke-born midfielder, who is 20 next week, spent part of last term on loan with Leicester, and Ferguson admits he is not sure if another spell away from Old Trafford beckons.
"We don't really know what to do with Tom," he said.
"A lot of clubs have been in for him, including one or two in the Premier League.
"Putting him out on loan is something we are looking at because these lads do need experience."

UNITED starlet Tom Cleverley is being targeted by a host of Premier League and Championship clubs.
The 19-year-old midfielder, who scored in the 2-0 midweek friendly win against Valencia, enjoyed a successful four-month spell at Leicester last season and Sir Alex Ferguson plans to let him gain more experience this term before fully introducing him into his first-team squad.
Leicester are keen to take Cleverley back but face competition from other top sides.
"A lot of clubs have been in for him, one or two Premier division teams in fact," said the United manager. "He does need experience and I'm looking at, whether we loan him out."
After scoring in front of 74,000 people at Old Trafford, Cleverley revealed the success of pal Danny Welbeck has been a source of inspiration.
"It's every boy's dream," he said. "I couldn't ask for much better. When I found out I was in the squad I was delighted, and I wouldn't have thought I'd be standing there, after I'd scored. It's what you strive for, to score at the Stretford End.
"I've seen my friend Danny Welbeck do it and I was jealous of him when he did it, now I've done it and I'm just so proud."

Cleverley stakes claim as a Man Utd first teamer
10.11.09 | Ian Ferris
On-loan Watford winger Tom Cleverley says he is ready to play for the Manchester United first team.
Cleverley has impressed this season at Vicarage Road and reckons he is ready to challenge Antonio Valencia and Nani for a starting berth at Old Trafford.
"Yeah, I think I'm ready for the Premier League," he said. "I've been watching the games and I don't think United have hit their best form.
"And I look at the people playing in my position and think, why not? I think I could step up.
"My best chance is on one of the wings. Straight into the team might be a bit ambitious but as a squad player I'd give energy, pace and hopefully some goals."
And after scoring in the 2-0 win against Preston, Cleverley added: "I'm sending out a message to Manchester United and with performances like that, Watford can send out a message to the rest of the league. We can get into the play-off mix if we keep performing like that."

Tom Cleverley believes he is ready for Manchester United and Premier League
http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/resources/images/1073414/?type=display
Tom Cleverley believes he is ready to play Premier League football with Manchester United but states he would like to stay at Watford when his loan spell ends in January.
Cleverley has been on fire since joining the Hornets in August and has averaged a goal every two games despite playing on the wing.
Watford are in discussions with United over extending the 20-year-old’s loan deal but with Nani, Antonio Valencia and Gabriel Obertan failing to stamp their authority on either flank, Sir Alex Ferguson may decide to promote Cleverley into the first-team squad at Old Trafford.
Cleverley said: “There has been talk of staying a bit longer but nothing has been finalised yet. I’m just looking to play as well as I can here.
“There has also been talk of me going back to United but it hasn’t been decided and there is nothing to say at this moment whether I’ll be returning or staying at Watford.
“Hopefully Watford want me back when my loan is up and I’d be happy to stay but I’ll just have to see what happens and what the clubs and managers decide.”
Cleverley enjoyed a successful spell at Leicester City during their charge to the League One title last season but it was cut short due to a dislocated shoulder.
The multi-functional player, who can also play in defence, was part of the United squad during pre-season and scored against Valencia in the summer.
Cleverley has netted six times in 13 Championship appearances for Watford so far and this week he claimed: “I think I’m ready to play in the Premier League.
“I’ve been watching United’s games and I don’t think they’ve hit their best form yet. I’ve looked at the people in my position and thought ‘Why not?’ I think I could step up, I think I’m ready.
“My best chance of getting in the United team would be on one of the wings. Not in the starting XI, that would be a bit ambitious, but in the squad or on the bench, left or right, and with my energy and goals, I could add something.”
Cleverley stated he “loves” playing for Malky Mackay and that Watford play football in the right way.
The Basingstoke-born midfielder has been receiving plaudits from the national media all season but he feels people are also starting to take note of Watford now.
Cleverley said: “I may be sending a message back to Manchester United with my performances but Watford are also sending one to the rest of the Championship.
“We’re on 24 points now and in the play-off mix. If we can follow that up with a good result against Scunthorpe in a fortnight there could be good times ahead.
“We could have won more than 2-0 against Preston and if we keep performing like that and make it a bit of a fortress here, we will be in good shape.”
Cleverley’s performances for Watford have seen him secure his place in the England Under-21 squad, alongside team-mate Scott Loach.
And tomorrow (Saturday) he will be fulfiling a dream by playing at Wembley in the Euro 2011 qualifier against Portugal.
He said: “It will be a dream to play at Wembley. I’ve never played there, just been a couple of times as a fan.
“We’re training there Friday and have Portugal on Saturday and I can’t wait.”

CLEVERLEY DOES IT

THE Manchester United loanee has earned fourteen appearances since arriving at WD18 and currently has six goals to his name, making him the club's joint top scorer with striker Danny Graham.
Recently, the Basingstoke-born player has been working fantastically with fellow Premiership loanee Henri Lansbury.
"All our goals keep setting off from each other" said the forward.
"There's not really any rivalry between us. We're just linking up well at the moment, but there's probably a bit of rivalry between me and Danny Graham now as we're both on six goals!
http://www.watfordfc.com/javaImages/fb/cc/0,,10400~7195899,00.jpg
"We all look to score in a match, but it's the three points that count at the end of the day and we work together for that and don't think about ourselves."
After a second consecutive home win last Saturday, Cleverley said that the team have now started a run that they mean to continue.
"Results like that send a message out to the league that Watford are up there and in the mix.
"If we can get a good result next Saturday (21 November) against Scunthorpe then there's much more to come from us.
"If we can keep performing how we have been at home, we can make Vicarage Road a bit of a fortress."
http://www.watfordfc.com/javaImages/6f/a6/0,,10400~7579247,00.jpg
Cleverley has been very impressed with Watford's boss Malky Mackay's first season in senior management with some great work on and off the pitch.
"I love training with Malky" said the Manchester United youngster.
"We work on attacking play so it's not a fluke that we play like that on a Saturday.
"I think everyone is pleased with the way we're playing under Malky."
The quick trickster revealed his feelings ahead of what could be considered one of the biggest games in his career so far; when he steps out with the England U21s against Portugal at Wembley tomorrow (Saturday).
"It's every lads dream to play at Wembley and I've only ever been to the stadium twice to watch games so I can't wait."
"We have a training session there before, then the Portugal match tomorrow.
"My house at the moment is only 15 minutes away from Wembley so I don't have far to go!"

Manchester United youngster Tom Cleverley has extended his loan spell with Watford until the end of the season.
The England Under-21 midfielder, who has scored six goals in 14 appearances for the Hornets, was due to return to Old Trafford in January.
But Cleverley, 20, will now spend the rest of the campaign with Malky Mackay's side.
"I'm happy to be here at Watford, it's been going really well so we decided to extend my loan period and for me to fight the cause for Watford until the end of the season," he told the club's official website.
"The manager, the lads and the club made my decision to stay here. It's a really good club to be at."

Clever Tom Commits
-watford.vitalfootball.co.uk-

Despite last week declaring himself 'ready for the Manchester United first team', Tom Cleverley has penned a loan deal until the end of the season.
The exciting Manchester United loanee was due to return to Old Trafford for the New Year, but his new deal will see him remain in WD18 until the end of the season.
Since arriving in August, Cleverley has mad fourteen appearances scoring six goals. The winger has also won his first England U21 caps. Should Watford draw Manchester United in the F.A Cup, he will be ineligable. However he'll be able to face any other opposition.
Meanwhile, fellow loanee Henri Lansbury has revealed big Malky is in talks with Monsuir Wengar over extending his loan deal at the Vic':
'I'm not sure how long I will be there. The clubs are still speaking so I need to speak to the boss about that.
'But I just want to go out and play really so I would be happy to stay at Watford for longer.
'There is a bit of an ache there because I'd like to be part of the Carling Cup run but I just want to play football.
'I just wanted to get some more games under my belt and more experience. That's what I am doing at Watford and hopefully it will continue.'
So it looks increasingly likely the Hornet's will be getting a second early Christmas present in the coming days!

Hornets hang on to Cleverley

Watford have extended the loan of Manchester United youngster Tom Cleverley until the end of the season.
Cleverley has impressed for the Hornets since joining in August and the midfielder has scored six goals in 13 Championship appearances.
He was due to stay at Vicarage Road until January, but the England Under 21 international will see out the campaign with Malky Mackay's side.
Mackay told the club's official website: "I'm delighted to have secured Tom's services until the end of the season.
"The business was once again conducted in a correct and professional manner with Tom, his representative and Manchester United.
"Sometimes it can take time for a player to settle in, but, Tom has hit the ground running.
"That is down to Tom's hard work ethic, his desire and professionalism. It also a reflection upon the club he has come from, while the coaches here have had a big part to play as well since his arrival."
The 20-year-old has recently expressed his belief that he is capable of playing in the Premier League for United and he impressed in pre-season for the champions.

Manchester United talent Tom Cleverley agrees to stay with Watford for rest of season
-watfordobserver.co.uk-
http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/0a8z2DFfi8cCu/340x.jpg
The progress Watford's talented crop of young players are making under Malky Mackay and his staff has been given another impressive endorsement after Manchester United agreed to extend Tom Cleverley's loan until the end of the season.
The Hornets boss, who had five players away on Under-21 duty with England and Northern Ireland during the international break, admitted he was "absolutely delighted" that Sir Alex Ferguson had given the green light for the Basingstoke-born midfielder to remain at Vicarage Road for the remainder of the campaign. The 20-year-old, who is Watford's joint top-scorer with a goal almost every two games this term, can also play in the FA Cup, unless the Hornets draw the Premiership giants.
"I had made the call to Sir Alex Ferguson and he was very interested in him staying here until the end of the season, he wanted him to stay with us, which is great news as far as I'm concerned," explained Mackay.
"Then I spoke to Tom and his representative and we made sure that it was something his family wanted as well, and Tom, his family and his agent felt this was the correct environment for him to kick on as far as his career's concerned.
"Since he's been here he has become an Under-21 international and it now looks as if he's starting internationals for England, he's also scoring goals at Championship level and he's got his own targets for the end of the season that myself and him have sat down and spoken about.
"He's now settled in the knowledge that he's at a club where he can be happy with his football, concentrate totally on his own football and his progression for the bigger picture as far as his career's concerned and going back to Manchester United in the summer."
Asked if he was concerned Ferguson would not agree to extending the loan, the Watford boss admitted: "You never know with players and you never know with clubs and how they change. All it takes is an injury, you don't know.
"I look at it like the situation that was here two years ago when Adam Johnson came here and made a big impact on our club and we were hoping to retain him, but at the time Middlesbrough decided he had to go back and Adam went back and sat on the bench for the next six months and never moved off it.
"Was that the best thing for Adam Johnson's progression as a young player? At the time maybe not, but at the same time was he required to be part of their staff to go straight on the pitch at any minute? Probably.
"So clubs have got to look out for themselves, but I'm just delighted that Sir Alex has felt for Tom's career progression he needed to back playing every week with us."
Mackay also confirmed there were no unexpected financial consequences for the Hornets as a result of extending Cleverley's loan.
He said: "There was an agreement that if he was to stay for the season there would be a financial commitment there, so it was nothing that we didn't know that was going to have to be involved.
"And you weigh that up with the impact of the player and does Tom add to our squad? Yes he does, so I'm absolutely delighted to get a top young talent who wants to stay and wants to be part of our squad and his club have given us the trust again for another six months that they want him to be part of our squad and for us to give him growth as a player."

Man Utd boss Ferguson: Cleverley looks a player
-tribalfootball.com-
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has told Tom Cleverley he is doing all the right things this season.
Ferguson is delighted with the winger's progress this season.
He said: “At our club I think we have always had a good record of bringing young English talent through. At the moment we have players like Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverley coming through.
“Welbeck has played a number of senior games and Cleverley definitely has what it takes to become a Manchester United player and he is doing very well on loan at Watford."

45 SECONDS WITH TOM CLEVERLEY
Posted on: 07.12.2009
http://www.football-league.co.uk/javaImages/7a/59/0,,10794~7821690,00.jpg
Name: Tom Cleverley
Club: Watford (on season-long loan from Manchester United)
Position: Midfielder
Date of Birth: 12 August 1989
Tell us about your debut
My first full game was for Leicester at home to Huddersfield. I was pretty nervous in the first half but settled into the game and did OK. We won 4-2. I was only at Leicester for three months but ended with a Championship medal.
What car do you drive?
An Audi A5. It might sound sensible, but it is quick.
What was your first car?
A Vauxhall Corsa. Then I bought an Audi A3 then the one I have now. So the Lamborghini is next. It can wait a few years though, when I have established myself.
Favourite film?
8-Mile or Shawshank Redemption. 8-Mile is decent, Eminem is good in it.
TV show?
I am hooked on Prison Break. If you haven't watched it, don't. You won't be able to stop and you'll waste all your time watching DVD after DVD.
Most expensive thing you have ever bought?
A 60-inch TV for my apartment in Manchester - it wasn't cheap. I am turning the place into a bachelor pad.
Do you do DIY?
No, I am shocking at it. Last night I tried to tune my telly and just couldn't do it. I am absolutely hopeless. I suppose I might have to learn how to do it when I move into my own place, but at the moment I have no idea.
Do you cook? If so, what's your specialty dish?
I don't much, my girlfriend does most of it. I can do a decent pasta dish with tomato. Actually that is all it is - pasta and tomato.
Funniest prank?
The other day Mariappa was caught by the old cup of water on top of a door trick. He got soaked and he wasn't happy. It is quite a routine trick at our place.
Best mate in football?
Daniel Drinkwater from United. He's on loan at Huddersfield and we keep in regular contact about how we are doing. I get on well with Henri Lansbury at Watford. He's on loan from Arsenal so our backgrounds are a bit similar. He was rooming with me, but now he's been relegated to someone else. My room-mate now is Craig Cathcart - the two United boys together.
If you weren't a footballer what would you be doing?
I like music, so I would like to be a DJ, even though I am not very good at it. At Watford the first time you go away with the team, you have to sing a song. I sang 'Ain't no Sunshine' - I had heard people doing it on X Factor so I thought it would be a good one to try. But there's no way I'd do it in front of an audience. We are OK playing football in front of a crowd, but I would never be talked into singing - even if it was with Elton John at Vicarage Road.
Tell us something we don't know about you.
My nickname is Chunks. But it has nothing to do with my weight. It goes back to when I was a kid at United and I couldn't say the 'tr' sound properly. I said 'swimming chunks' instead of 'trunks'. It has stuck with me through every club I have been at.
Which famous person would you like to meet?
David Beckham. I'd love to go out for a meal with him and chat about football and everything. I kind of met him once but only walked past.
Who is the most famous person in your phone?
Micah Richards

‘A Star In The Making’ – Man United’s Tom Cleverley
-footballfancast.com-
http://www.footballfancast.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/Cleverley.jpg
Manchester United’s youngsters have been getting a lot of press attention in recent weeks with their exploits in the Carling Cup and the Champions League but one of the most promising of their players is currently on loan at Watford. Tom Cleverley has been a revelation in the Championship this season and the player is expected to have a bright future in the game. The England under-21 international can play anywhere across the midfield and in defence; his versatility is just one of his great attributes.
Cleverley started his career with Bradford but moved to Manchester United as a trainee at 15 years of age. He was playing in the reserves when he was 16 but suffered a serious injury that kept him out for 7 months in 2007. He was a regular for the reserves in the 07/08 season and his performances earned him a nomination for the Denzil Haroun Reserve Player of the Year award. He was supposed to spend last season on loan at Leicester City but was forced to return to United after 15 games as he suffered a season-ending injury to his shoulder. He was impressive in his short spell at City and notched two league goals for the club.
This season Cleverley has been on loan at Watford where he has been one of their best performers in the league. He had been known for his tidy approach play but at Watford Cleverley has added goals to his name making him a valuable asset to Malky Mackay’s play-off contenders. He is Watford’s joint top scorer in the league with 7 goals in 17 appearances, a very impressive total from midfield.
Cleverley’s progress with Watford has not gone unnoticed; Sir Alex Ferguson is thought to believe the player has what it takes to make the grade at Old Trafford. Watford have successfully extended the loan deal until the end of the season but there is still interest from other clubs. Chris Hughton is thought to be keen on taking the youngster to Newcastle on a permanent basis but his interest has yet to be formalised. Cleverley will return to United high on confidence and as a much improved player, whether he is given the opportunity to flourish at Old Trafford or elsewhere, he certainly looks like a star of the future.

Tom Cleverley is planning to have a future at Manchester United Football Club.
The young midfielder played has enjoyed a fine loan spell in the Championship this season, where he has started 26 times for Watford.
It has been suggested that Newcastle United could bid for Cleverley in the summer, but the 20-year-old wants to try and force his way into Sir Alex Ferguson’s first team plans.
“I definitely want to be part of the squad next season,” he said. “I feel I am doing well out on loan and I am doing as much as I can to push for that place next season.”

Manchester United youngster Tom Cleverley wanted by Premier League clubs

Bolton, Birmingham and Preston are interested in taking Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley on loan next season, but he could also be considering a permanent move after a successful spell at Watford.
The midfielder's goals and assists at Vicarage Road have earned him England Under-21 honours.
However, Cleverley said last week he still has designs on making the cut at Old Trafford.
'I want to be part of the [United] squad next season — that is every young player's ambition at Manchester United,' he said.

ada bocoran dr Frguson Jr. Aka Darren ferguson manager PNE.
Preston North End boss Darren Ferguson has hinted that United loan star Tom Cleverley is set to be handed a first team squad berth at Old Trafford next season.
Out of contract in the summer and coveted by a number of Premier League clubs, 20 year-old Cleverley’s future has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks, with Preston among the most recent batch of clubs linked with the England U21 international. Ferguson Jr has dismissed his club’s chances of landing the midfielder however, as well as the chances of any other interested club, claiming in an interview with the Lancashire Evening Post that his father Sir Alex has Cleverley pencilled in as part of the Reds’ first team plans:
“Tom Cleverley won’t be going out on loan next season, he’ll be at United. He is a big part of their first-team plans.
“Tom is player I know plenty about, I tried to get him when I was at Peterborough. The lad is a good player, he wouldn’t be at United if he wasn’t.
“There is no truth in the fact that he is going to come here, or for that matter, anywhere else. I’m pretty certain of that after speaking to my dad, he’s going back to United. People of his age, players like Danny Welbeck, will go out on loan for a certain period of time and then that’s them.”
A revelation on loan at Watford this season, where his 11 goals so far look set to earn him Player of the Year honours, Cleverley has reportedly attracted interest from the likes of Birmingham City, Bolton Wanderers and Newcastle United, either on loan or potentially on a permanent deal. Ferguson Jr’s comments however suggest that a contract extension is likely to be reached in the near future and Sir Alex will resist any overtures from elsewhere in favour of blooding the versatile youngster at the highest level next term.
In addition to his impressive form in the Championship, new rules regarding squad size for Premier League clubs may be a reason for Cleverley being welcomed back into the fold. Much like in the Champions League, from next season top flight clubs will be required to register a squad of 25 from which their matchday squads must be chosen, with the only other players available being those aged – like Cleverley – 21 or under. With the large number of senior pros on the books at a club like United, having someone like Cleverley in the mix gives the manager greater flexibility, perhaps providing the opportunity to register an extra senior player in another position.

Hanya butuh mentor, latihan, pengalaman first team dan tentunya keberuntungan.

Cleverley's tasty cocktail for United
http://m.gmgrd.co.uk/res/163.$plit/C_71_article_1237821_image_list_image_list_item_0_ image.jpg?29%2F04%2F2010%2009%3A05%3A57%3A673
Sir Alex Ferguson is going to be tempted next season with an exotic cocktail mix of Frank Lampard, David Beckham and Ji-sung Park.
That is the concoction Reds youngster Tom Cleverley believes he is now capable of producing that will appeal to Fergie's palate.
Not bad for a player who began life in United's Academy as a full-back and has yet to make a single minute's appearance for the Old Trafford seniors.
But a season-long loan at championship side Watford has seen 20-year-old Cleverley's confidence surge.
And why not? His time at Vicarage Road may have ended prematurely with a knee ligament at injury against West Brom at Easter but he'd done enough in his 33 appearances for the Hornets to win the club's Player of the Year award.
The England Under-21international was presented with his honour before therecent Reading match as he bade a fond farewell to fans and staff at Watford.
He returned to Manchester to begin his rehab from injury with a glowing reference from Watford boss Malky Mackay.
“Tom is an outstanding model professional. He's areally top young professional that I can't speak highly enough of and he's been a dream to have here,'' said Mackay.
The Basingstoke-born midfielder's campaign saw him score 11 goals for Watford.
He has another three weeks with his leg in a brace, after coming off crutches this week, but then he'll get down to the task of breaking through into Fergie's first-team plans next season.
“Next season is a massive campaign for me,” Tom told M.E.N. Sport. “Hopefully, I can prove myself at Premier League level and at a top club like United. That is what I am looking to do.
“I want to get fit this summer and hit the ground running and start off where I left off this season.
Brilliant
“Last season I had a spell on loan at Leicester and played in League One and felt as though I did well there. This season I feel I have done even better in the Championship with Watford and hopefully I can keep on the rise and make it into the Premier League.
“It was brilliant playing every week at a good standard and it has done me the world of good.
“Physically, I grew up during that loan at Leicester. But it is more mentally where I have grown up and got better at Watford.
“Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday football every week where one match you can be up at St James' Park and then Hillsborough the next with 30,000 fans on your back.
“It has been a massive learning curve for me. Theintensity of it all has helped me. I think I am a better player now.”
Sir Alex Ferguson sat Cleverley down in his Carrington office last summer and presented the benefits of a loan spell at Watford.
Cleverley began as a young Academy full-back at United and developed into a reserve central midfielder.
But at Vicarage Road he matured into a goalscoring wide midfielder.
“I have always liked David Beckham and his style. And I think the type of player I have become this season is a bit like Ji-sung Park,” he said.
“I think my game can benefit from learning a lot from him in the right or left midfield spot or just behind the front two. I provide lots of energy like Ji.
“I have never been known as a goalscorer but last season I started to get into more scoring positions. I scored a few for the reserves and I said to Jim Ryan that I would get double figures this year and I have.
“I suppose goalscoring midfielders are like gold dust and it is a massive string to my bow if I can consistently score goals like Frank Lampard.
“Anything extra that can help you breakthrough at United is great. It is not an easy task as everybody knows.
“United are a world-class team with world class players but all you have to do is look at the guys who are performing in it now like Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, Wes Brown, Darren Fletcher, John O'Shea, Darron Gibson and Jonny Evans.
"They have all come through the ranks and you have to be confident you can do what they have done.
“I have never felt as confident about playing as I am now. It is up to the manager what plans he has for me but all I can do is get my head down and play the best I can.”
“Hopefully this time next year I will be able to reflect on even more progress in the Premier League. That has to be my goal.”

Fergie to reward young starlet

Manchester United youngster Tom Cleverley fantastic form on loan at Watford is set to be rewarded with a new contract by Sir Alex Ferguson, according to skysports.com.
Cleverley, 20, shone on-loan at the crisis hit Championship side last season, netting 11 goals in 33 appearances before his season was cut short by injury. United Persiapkan Kontrak Baru Cleverley
Hendra Mujiraharja - Okezone
MANCHESTER – Manchester United tidak mau kehilangan Tom Cleverley. Setan Merah menghadiahkan sang bintang muda dengan penawaran kontrak baru.
Penampilan gemilang diperlihatkan Cleverley di divisi dua Liga Inggris. Dari 33 penampilan bersama Watford, dia berhasil menyumbang 11 gol. Sayang cedera menghambat penampilannya.

United - Cleverley Loan Enquiries!
-manchesterunited.vitalfootball.co.uk-
http://vtc.vn/media/vtcnews/2009/08/06/Tom-Cleverley-475.jpg
Earlier this week we reported on how young Tom Cleverley had so impressed during his season long loan spell at Watford that United were looking to tie him to a longer contract.
We also speculated as to whether Sir Alex Ferguson would feel that another season on loan would be beneficial to young Tom.
Well today it`s being reported that Tom has signed a three year contract and that both Blackpool and Newcastle are looking at taking Tom on loan for the season.
Both clubs, of course, were promoted from the Championship last season and it`s difficult to predict anything but a hard struggle for either to remain in the Premier League beyond next season.
But, if Tom were to go to either, he`d be guaranteed more first team football than he would be, currently, at Old Trafford. There`s also the prospect of Sir Alex watching on to see how a season of top flight action aids his development.
"If I had to plump for one of the two, I`d send him to Newcastle, it could be quite an experience!"

Tom Cleverley Could Be Staying At Red Devils Next Season
-nufcblog.com-
http://www.nufcblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/tom-cleverley-300x400.jpg
Tom Cleverley - may stay at Manchester United next season
Manchester United are still deciding whether to keep 20 year-old promising midfielder Tom Cleverley, at Old Trafford next season.
Cleverley, 20 years old and born in Basingstoke, seems to be well thought of at the Red Devils and is certainly rated by manager Sir Alex Ferguson, and Tom recently signed a three-year contract extension at the famous club.
The England under-21 international was at Championship club Watford all of last season, and played there 35 times with 11 goals, and was voted the club’s player of the year.
However, he didn’t finish the season, suffering a knee ligament injury in April, which kept him out of the last few games.
But reports would suggest that award at Watford impressed Alex Ferguson, and he will take a good hard look at the youngster on their American tour, and then decide if the next thing for Tom is another season out on loan, this time to a Premiership club, or to keep him at Old Trafford.
If he decides to send the player out on loan, then Newcastle United would be the favorites to give Tom a season in the Premier League, which is the standard of player the player also wants.
Newly promoted Blackpool are also interested in taking the player on loan, but Tom is one of the players currently in Newcastle’s sights, as well as other top youngsters like Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere, Valdimir Weiss, the Manchester City and Slovakian International winger and Danny Welbeck, the young Manchester United striker.
Which two youngsters will arrive on Tyneside for a season-long loan deal next season – is now anybody’s guess.
In our poll on which two players Newcastle fans would like to see come on loan to the Tyneside club, Jack Wishere is in the lead with Vladimir Weiss second and Tom currently in 3rd place.

In our poll on which two players Newcastle fans would like to see come on loan to the Tyneside club, Jack Wishere is in the lead with Vladimir Weiss second and Tom currently in 3rd place.
asyikkkkk
celverley bakalan stay ,gak dipinjamin lagi
semoga kedepannya bisa menjadi the nexy paul scholes:wowcaem:

Cleverley happy to place career in hands of Man Utd boss Ferguson
-tribalfootball.com-

Tom Cleverley is happy to leave his career in the hands of Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
The England U21 winger was on the scoresheet in United's victory against Celtic in Toronto last week.
Cleverley said: "Everyone knows it's so hard to break into the United first team and unless you are an exceptional talent like Wayne Rooney you are going to have to be patient.
"I have read that some clubs want to take me on loan, but I haven't spoken with the boss yet. I am happy to leave the decision to him because there is no one better at handling the early stages of a player's career.
"I don't see how you can't trust him when you see how many young players he has nursed through and who have gone on to have top careers in the game. He's the best in the business."

Learning from the master
http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa130/bar_1129/2009_2010/cleverley.jpg
For any young midfielder learning his trade, playing alongside a living blueprint of brilliance like Paul Scholes can only be beneficial.
Tom Cleverley confirmed as much after partnering the 35-year-old to great effect during United's friendly victory over Philadelphia Union.
"Playing for United and alongside someone like Scholesy is what every young lad dreams of," Tom told ManUtd.com. "He’s a great mentor for me – I look to him every day in training and he’s definitely someone I can learn a lot from.
"The likes of Scholesy and Giggsy always have a picture in their heads about what they want to do with the ball and their first time passing is second to none. The way they go about training and matches means they’re two of the best in the world to learn from."
Cleverley shone on loan in a struggling Watford side last season, and pinned down a regular starting berth for England's under-21 side. Now, he's ready to take another huge step up to life at the top level.
"Last year was a big season for me and I hope this one will be even bigger," he said. "This year I’ve got to prove myself in the Premier League like I have done in the Championship and League One. That’s the challenge for me.
"Being on the tour and amongst the first team has been fantastic. You’re watching and learning from the experienced lads all the time and you try to put that into practice."
Roman2nya bakal di loan nih bocah, moga2 sih di club EPL bkn Championship.. Berharapnya sih stay dan bs nerebos 1st team dgn bimbingan para senior macam Giggs n Scholes dan pastinya jg dr SAF lsg. Tp Cleverly butuh jam terbang main yg banyak, rasanya loan menjadi pilihan bagus.

Cleverley to make loan move decision

Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley will make a decision this week over whether to join Blackpool or Newcastle on a season-long loan.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson rates Cleverley highly, having included in on the club's recent tour of the USA. But Ferguson is keen for the midfielder - 21 next week - to gain some more experience in by making a loan move to a rival Premier League side.
Cleverley, who spent last season on loan with Championship side Watford, will reportedly discuss potential season-long loan moves with both the Seasiders and the Magpies this week before deciding where to sign.
A move to Bloomfield Road could see the midfielder playing on a regular basis, while he would face a fiercer battle for a shirt should he make a switch to St James' Park.

Tom Cleverley to join Wigan on loan: Roberto Martinez fends off Bolton and Newcastle to Manchester United starlet
EXCLUSIVE By CHRIS WHEELER
dailymail
Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley will spend the season on loan at Wigan after Roberto Martinez beat Newcastle and Bolton to sign the Old Trafford youngster.
Cleverley, 21, impressed on United's pre-season tour of the United States and scored a superb individual goal against the MLS All-Stars in Houston.

Tom Cleverley will remain with United this season because Sir Alex Ferguson says he is so talented that the Reds cannot afford to let him join another club on loan.
Cleverley impressed on loan last season with Watford and, although he has been considered to have a promising future at Old Trafford, Sir Alex was at one point mulling over sending him on loan to a Premier League club.
But Cleverley, who turns 21 next week, did himself a lot of favours with his performances on the summer tour across North America.
“He is an exceptional young player in terms of his ability to play a variety of positions,” Sir Alex said on Friday. “He is such a talent, we must keep him.
“He showed at Watford that he’s a goalscorer from midfield and we need that. He has outstanding qualities.”
The manager’s words are a major boost for Tom, whose burgeoning young career is really starting to take shape at Old Trafford

"Cleverley Suksesor Scholes"
Muhayati Faridatun - Okezone
(far)

FUTURE IS BRIGHT INSISTS TOM CLEVERLEY
Story Image
Tom Cleverley: Rising star
Thursday August 12,2010
By Daily Express Reporter
TOM CLEVERLEY says the hand-wringing over a lack of young English talent is unfair.
Manchester United midfielder Cleverley was told by manager Sir Alex Ferguson last week that he would be staying at Old Trafford, after believing another loan move was more likely.
Ferguson’s decision came on the back of some outstanding performances on United’s pre-season tour of North America
Cleverley followed this up with an excellent display in England Under-21’s 2-0 victory over Uzbekistan at Ashton Gate on Tuesday.
At a time when the focus is on England’s young players like never before, Cleverley is a beacon of hope.
Yet the Bradford-raised youngster, who celebrates his 21st birthday today, does not believe the situation is quite as bad as it seems.
“People are a bit harsh to say there is no talent coming through,” said Cleverley, who won Watford’s player-of-the-season prize while on loan there last term.
“It is there. When you look at the players – Theo Walcott, Danny Welbeck, Jack Rodwell, Jack Wilshere – the talent in the squad is unbelievable.”
Cleverley is intent on making a mark this term, even though he accepts a Carling Cup tie in September represents his first realistic chance to start a game for United.
And he feels he will benefit this season from working with top-class talent on a daily basis.
“I do feel one game at United is worth five somewhere else,” he said.
With England preparing to qualify for the European Championship, Cleverley has plenty to occupy his mind

How Tom Cleverley is spearheading Fergie's plan to bow out with legacy of youth
-mirrorfootball.co.uk-
http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/incoming/article557031.ece/ALTERNATES/gallery-large/cleverley-holt.jpg
Tom Cleverley, a young player many believe is destined to become a part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s last great Manchester United side, is sitting in an office, talking.
There is something about him that tells you he has been at United since he was 11. He is assured, mature, single-minded and happy to make whatever sacrifices he needs to.
He grew up in Bradford but the way he speaks makes him sound like a composite of Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs.
His eyes light up twice. Both times it is something to do with training that brings animation to his features. Cleverley is someone in love with the game.
The first time it is the mention of some YouTube footage he has told the rest of the United first team squad about that makes him smile.
The 30-second clip shows the Spain squad training and Valencia’s Juan Mata producing a dazzling piece of skill that involves dragging the ball behind one foot with the other and then nutmegging Real Madrid’s Raul Albiol all in the same movement.
Mata celebrates his feat, laughing, while a couple of the Spain players put their arms around Albiol in mock *consolation. United’s players, Cleverley says, have been trying to reproduce the trick.
The second time his face comes alive is when Cleverley, who turned 21 last week, talks about training at Carrington with the United first team squad. In particular, he says, watching Scholes and Giggs doing their job and pursuing their art is breathtaking.
Most players who have trained with Scholes, either for United or England, say that. They mention the way he strikes the ball and the joy of watching his technique.
A few hours later, Scholes lofted a perfect pass to Giggs who drove home a volley to seal United’s 3-0 win over Newcastle at Old Trafford.
“It’s the way nothing fazes them, too,” Cleverley says.
“You can learn so much from those two. They don’t have to say anything to you. You just have to watch them. It’s their temperament and they take that into the pitch. I have been watching Scholes all through pre-season so it didn’t shock me when he put in a *performance like he did in the Community Shield.
“He is not the type to sit you down and have a heart-to-heart chat with you but he is a great mentor for me.”
At at time when the *country’s focus is turning to youth in the battle to recover from the disappointment of England’s performance in South Africa, a world of possibilities is opening up for Cleverley.
Players like Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere and Kieran Gibbs have already been given their chance by Fabio Capello as the England manager tries to re-invent both himself and his team and Cleverley and *Everton’s Jack Rodwell cannot be far behind.
Cleverley, who can play anywhere across the midfield, made a big impression when he was on loan at Watford last season and was voted the team’s player of the season.
The previous season he had a spell on loan at Leicester.
“The hostility of places like Millwall and Leeds toughens you up,” Cleverley says. “I went from a boy to a man in the Championship.”
He also starred in United’s pre-season tour of America and scored a superb individual goal against the MLS All-Stars in Houston. Premier League clubs are queuing up to take him on loan but Ferguson has said he wants him to stay at Old Trafford this season because he is ready to fight for a place in the team.
There is something else about Cleverley: he epitomises the agelessness of Ferguson, the way that the United boss can inspire a new generation of players as effectively as he did when he first took the job 24 years ago.
He commands respect, not just because of what he has achieved but with the way he interacts with his players.
Other older managers fall out of love with football and especially footballers. Not Ferguson. His man-management genius, his enthusiasm for the people around him, are undimmed.
“His team talk before the Community Shield was fantastic,” Cleverley says. “He inspires me.”
The progress of Cleverley, whose career is being guided astutely by Simon Kennedy, Brian Lara’s former agent, hints at the idea that a new wave of home-grown talent is ready to form the core of the last side Ferguson commands before he retires.
There are high hopes for Cleverley, Darron Gibson, Danny Drinkwater (on loan at Cardiff), Matt James (on loan at Preston) and Reece Brown, Wes Brown’s younger brother. Jonny Evans has already broken through and Federico Macheda kept Michael Owen out of the squad against Newcastle.
There are echoes of the 1992 FA Youth Cup winning side that contained David Beckham, Nicky Butt, Gary Neville and Giggs.
If Ferguson sticks to his plan not to send Cleverley out on loan, he will get his chance in the Carling Cup, the FA Cup and maybe a few League games.
Cleverley has his own plan. “If I get chances, my aim is to please him enough that he has to play me,” he says.
Ferguson’s reluctance to enter the transfer market has been widely attributed to the fact that the Glazer family have no money to give him.
Maybe there’s another reason. Maybe Ferguson looks at Cleverley, Drinkwater, James, Evans, Macheda and Brown and sees another group of kids who can take the League by storm and send him into retirement a happy man.

Cleverley aims to shine
Tom Cleverley admits he can only continue producing his top form in order to play his way into the first team picture.
Although Sir Alex Ferguson back-tracked on plans to loan out the promising midfielder this term, a fully-fit, bulging first team squad has restricted Cleverley to a watching brief in the Reds' opening two games of the season.
An outstanding display for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Reserves against Manchester City was capped with a fully-deserved goal on Tuesday evening, however, and Cleverley is determined to keep up his high standards.
"All I can do is keep playing to my top performance level when I play, whether it's for the Reserves or the first team," he told MUTV. "As long as I keep doing that, hopefully the manager will see I'm doing well and I'll get a couple of chances here and there."
Cleverley was in an extremely strong Reserve team for Tuesday's Manchester Senior Cup victory, and he admitted there was added pressure on United to take the spoils.
"Any game against City is a big one, but in our squad tonight I think we had six internationals and six under-21 internationals or something silly like that, so there was added pressure there," he said. "It was one of the strongest Reserve teams ever.
"We didn't start badly, then they got the goal and we lost our momentum a little bit. But we got one in the first half, kicked on in the second, got a couple of good goals, and it's a good victory."

A host of Premier League clubs, including Newcastle and Bolton have been chasing the talented 21-year-old, but Wigan look to have won the race for his signature.
Cleverley has yet to make a first-team appearance for United, but he impressed in pre-season and he is tipped for a big future at United
Cleverley enjoyed an excellent season on loan at Watford last season, where he scored 11 goals and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is willing to loan him out again so that he can get regular first-team action under his belt.
The England Under 21 international is highly-rated at Old Trafford and he was handed a new three-year deal earlier this summer.

Cleverley signs Wigan loan deal
MEN - August 31, 2010
Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley has joined Wigan Athletic on a season-long loan deal.
The Reds youngster, who impressed on loan at Watford last year and for United in pre-season, is on the way to the DW Stadium.
It was earlier thought that Cleverley was going to stay with United.
"Tom is a very exciting young player and we are delighted he is coming to us," said Wigan manager Roberto Martinez.
"He can play in a number of positions and will provide us with some good new options, and add great competition to the squad.
"We have been watching him for some time and feel he is the right sort of player to join our squad; young, hungry, desperate to play for the club in the Premier League and to grow with us."

ga jelas nih Fergie.
2 minggu lalu blg Cleverley stay, bakalan masuk 25 pemain 1st team.
Faktor Ando yg udah fit, Scholes yg makin menggila nih kynya.
Tinggal tunggu Carrick jadi deal ga nih swap ama Rodwell plus 10 millions.

emg cleverley harus gantiin siapa? Scholes? Ya ga mungkinlah, kan masih ada Ando or Carrick(if he stays put).

Cleverley eyes United return

Tom Cleverley has targeted 2011 as his breakthrough year at United and is temporarily off to Wigan to bolster his bid.
The Reds England Under-21 midfielder has signed a season-long loan deal with Roberto Martinez’s Latics side with the option of a January call back but certainly hasn’t given up on his Old Trafford dream.
Cleverley has plotted a sensible career route to his ultimate United vision.
In 2009 as a teenager he inked in a spell in League One on his CV with Leicester City.
Then he moved up a notch into the Championship with Watford last season. The next logical step was the Premier League.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson had initially suggested the Basingstoke-born player would achieve that quest this term with the Reds.
Tom went on United’s pre-season tour of America and impressed.
But with seniors like Michael Carrick and Darron Gibson hardly having a first team look in during the early stages of the campaign and Anderson and possibly Owen Hargreaves to step up the fierce competition once back from injuries, Cleverley saw his so far smooth progress strategy ending up in a cul de sac. Thus, the engine room goalscorer, who was 21 this month, elected for the temporary Wigan switch.
But he’s determined to return with a first team challenge.
“This was the right next step for me,” Tom told M.E.N. Sport. “Sir Alex Ferguson had said he wanted to keep me but looking at the size of United’s squad and the quality of the midfielders, I worried I might not get many chances.
“I have been out on loan for two seasons and they have been good for me and my improvement. I didn’t want that progress to be hindered.
“So with all due respects to the reserves, I didn’t want to go back to that level.
Quality
“I went to see the manager last week and had a chat and we both came to the agreement that it would be best to go out on loan.
“Wigan suits me down to the ground. I don’t know the manager Roberto Martinez but I’ve heard good things about him. I know he likes to play football and you can see that the way Wigan play.
“That’s exactly the type of side I need. I can still stay at home so it is perfect. There are a lot of quality players at Wigan so I will be learning.
“I would have loved to have stayed at United but I had to be realistic. This is the best approach. I know there might be some regrets if suddenly there is a spate of injuries in United’s midfield but you cannot afford to think that way.”
Cleverley now intends to keep his progress chart on an even upward climb.
“Having tested myself in Division One and the Championship, I felt ready to give the Premier League a go.
“My aim is to prove myself at this level and then hopefully next season it could be the Champions League with United!
“I needed the week-to-week test of the Premier League if my game was going to keep on the up. I wanted to keep going up a level.
“Hopefully, I will be able to show at Wigan that I can get on the ball comfortably in the Premier League and score goals as well.
“I am confident in my ability and I want everyone to see it. If I do well at Wigan then in 12 months my confidence will be sky high and I will be better equipped to tackle the challenge at United."

Wigan loan starlet Tom Cleverley determined to sicken City for parent club Manchester United

Tom Cleverley is desperate for the chance to sink Manchester City this weekend.
Manchester United youngster Cleverley is on loan at Wigan for the season and the 21-year-old midfielder is keeping his fingers crossed for a start when City visit the DW Stadium on Sunday.
Cleverley, who made his first appearance for the Latics when coming on as a substitute in the draw with Sunderland, said: 'Obviously I'd love to get one over United's rivals on Sunday, if selected.
'It's games like this that I came to Wigan to play, and hopefully we can do something against them.
'I only got 20 minutes against Sunderland but it was nice to get out there on the pitch. Obviously the circumstances were difficult, 1-0 down and they were just sitting in there. But we equalised and could even have won it at the end.
'My focus now is getting a good week of training under my belt and proving to the gaffer I deserve a place on the pitch against City.'

Tom Cleverley's burgeoning reputation among United fans as a potential future star has been corroborated by the man who can give him his break at Old Trafford. Sir Alex Ferguson says the promising 21-year-old midfielder needed regular football, so the decision loan him to Wigan Athletic rather than sit him on the sidelines was a necessity.
However, Sir Alex revealed that the Basingstoke-born attacking midfielder could be recalled in January when, with the benefit of six months of Premier League football, he’ll be ready for a shot at making the grade with the Reds.
"We’ll probably bring Tom back in January," Sir Alex says in the new issue of Inside United, on sale now.
"Tom’s going to be a great footballer, I really like him. I’ve heard the fans are starting to talk about Tom, and I think they’re right to do that because he could very well be the next top player to come through the ranks."
Cleverley's summer loan move to the DW Stadium was something of a u-turn as he had been expected to stay and fight for his place in the competitive midfield slots at United.
But Sir Alex explains that he did not want to stunt the United Academy graduate's progress by leaving on the bench or, worse, in the stands.
"When we signed Bebe it gave me a problem in terms of our 25-man Premier League squad. Not because Tom is ineligible – he’s young and English so he fits nicely into the criteria – but because he was an extra player and somebody else to keep happy and find a spot for.
"I felt it could be hard to give him enough football. I think five or six months on loan could really help him – he’ll benefit from first-team football in the Premier League."
Cleverley, who has previously enjoyed successful loan stints at Leicester City and Watford, has only made one appearance for the Latics so far this season after sustaining a knee injury. But he is expected to return imminently for Roberto Martinez’s side, where he can continue to progress on a rapid trajectory.

Sip.. berita bagus nih.

Tom Cleverley: the rapid rise of United's next star
Andy Mitten
Last Updated: Nov 19, 2010

Premier League footballers unwind in different ways, some less respectable than others. Manchester United's England Under 21 midfielder Tom Cleverley likes a game of snooker in an unpretentious club in south Manchester. He currently is on loan at Wigan Athletic, where his profile is much lower than at United.
"I was playing snooker last week when one of the regulars at the club came over," Cleverley said in a part-Mancunian, part-Yorkshire accent. "He had no idea what I did for a living and said, 'You're pretty decent. Do you fancy playing with the snooker team on a Tuesday night?' I laughed, said thanks and told him that I had other commitments."
Cleverley, 21, is unlikely to benefit from such anonymity much longer. His value continues to rise, though an agreement between the two clubs means that he will not be playing for Wigan against United at Old Trafford tomorrow in their Premier League clash.
Sir Alex Ferguson already has said that he plans to bring the versatile Cleverley, who can play anywhere in the midfield, back to Manchester in January.
The United manager said that Cleverley has "outstanding goalscoring qualities" and is a "United-type footballer, who likes to pass and move. He's hungry [and] is a serious professional who has made sacrifices to succeed."
For now, Cleverly is content.
"I'm enjoying Wigan, training and playing alongside a lot of different nationalities," he said. "That's different, as I've always played under British managers for predominantly British teams, but I'm enjoying working with Roberto (Martinez). He lives and loves football and knows everything about all the other teams."
"I'm closer to the British lads because there's no language barriers, but we all get on. We have alternate songs on the iPod in the dressing room - one English and then one Spanish."
Cleverley was born in Basingstoke, southern England; his father, who worked in banking, was based there. Three months later, the family relocated to Bradford, hometown of Tom's mother.
"I'm a Bradford lad," he said. "Most of my best friends are lads who I met growing up when all we did was play football in the street. We didn't touch PlayStations. I played for my school team and then Bradford boys."
Cleverley was a Bradford City fan.
"I had a season ticket on the kop at Valley Parade. Bradford were in the Premiership and I saw players like Benito Carbone. I dreamed of playing for Bradford and maybe I will before I retire."
Aged 11, Cleverley scored a hat-trick playing for Bradford boys against Huddersfield. Leeds United and Blackburn Rovers both wanted him and he was about to sign for Blackburn when his father, Andrew, checked his answering machine.
"It was Manchester United," Andrew said. "We went there and Tom loved the facilities and the club. His mum then drove Tom to Manchester three times a week. It wasn't easy and they spent a lot of time on the M62, but it was worth it."
Cleverley moved to Manchester at 15 to stay in the same residence near the Carrington training ground where Gerard Pique and Darren Fletcher once lived. Fletcher remains an influence.
"He got where he is through hard work and talent and I respect him for that," Cleverley said. "When you play for United you don't have to look for idols."
Cleverley was a late developer. As a child, he was given the nickname "Chunks" because he could not pronounce the "tr" sound and referred to his swimming trunks as "chunks". He matured late physically, as well.
"At 16, I was a boy in a team of men," he said. Television footage of him celebrating in youth tournaments shows far bigger teammates throwing him in the air like a child. "We'd play Liverpool or City and they'd beat us because they were bigger." Far more of the United players are now making a living as professional footballers.
He was played as a full-back rather than in the more physical midfield and United received special dispensation from the Football Association for him to stay down a year and play with smaller players. There had been only one precedent at the club, Danny Simpson, who is now on the verge of a full England call-up after doing well with Newcastle United
Cleverley progressed through United's reserve team, where Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave him advice on finishing. He was also a late call-up for United's pre-season tour of South Africa in 2008, where he scored on his debut in front of 50,000 in Pretoria.
"I saw the attention United get worldwide and thought, 'Wow!' But I still felt like a kid in a team of men."
In 2009, he went on loan to third-tier Leicester City.
"It felt real," Cleverley said. "I felt like a proper footballer. I went from playing in front of 300 for United's reserves at Northwich to playing in front of 20,000 at Leicester.
"I was very nervous before my full Leicester debut and didn't think nerves would hit me that much. I was daunted by the crowd, the away fans singing. It was a shock. We went behind and I couldn't relax. I'd give the ball away for no reason. I was up against a big, experienced pro who was playing for his win bonus.
"I had a word with myself at half time and remembered what United had told me: work hard, be a winner. I relaxed in the second half. After that, I was fine. That's why players are sent on loan, to gain real match experience."
Leicester were promoted to the Championship and there was talk of him staying, but a new loan agreement was reached with Watford, also of the Championship.
"I did some background checks on him from Ben Foster [the goalkeeper] and a fitness coach at Old Trafford and they said very positive things about Tom's attitude," said Malky Mackay, the Watford manager.
"From the first minute I got him, I could see that they were right, that he had what he takes to be a top player. Watford became his priority and he went to supporters' evenings. Tom's very level-headed, very professional. And he was very harsh on himself when he made a mistake. I told him not to be despondent, but to get on with things."
Cleverley made his Watford debut after just one training session.
"I didn't know half the other players' names," he said, "but I scored on my debut. I got three goals in my first four games and people started looking at me as a goalscoring midfielder.
"I felt my game changing, felt more confident. I started getting recognised in the street, the fans sang my name and you have to be careful that it doesn't go to your head. But I want to be recognised at Manchester United, not on the streets of Watford."
The step up brought new challenges.
"I saw him develop physically," Mackay saidy. "His legs became stronger and I saw him ride tackles in the Championship, which is a physical division. He was also very cool-headed in the opposition box and impressed by finishing on target."
Cleverley scored 11 goals in 33 Watford games.
"I loved going to hostile places like Millwall," he said. "We also played Leeds away in the cup. I was a Bradford lad contracted for Man United. You can't get a worse combination at Leeds and I got a lot of abuse, especially when I took corners. It didn't bother me; I saw it as an experience. I want to play at Liverpool and City with United."
"Tom was low-maintenance and a great learner, too," Mackay said. "He was inquisitive and would ask me questions after every game about what he'd done wrong. He was from a good family and coming from Man United, he was very professional and you could see that he'd watched Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes and was influenced by the way they handled themselves in training and off the field."
While at Vicarage Road, he was called up for the England Under 21s. He already had scored twice on his debut for the U20s.
"I told him to believe in himself and that he'd soon become a starter in that team," Mackay said. "Within six games he was a regular and one of their best players."
Cleverley was voted Watford's player of the season last term and returned to Old Trafford in the summer, where he starred in United's pre-season American tour.
"We played in front of 70,000 in places like Houston and it went well for me," he said. "I was playing alongside Scholes, who has brilliant technique and never gives the ball away. The passing is the difference at United. There are so few mistakes and the control of players like Dimitar Berbatov in small spaces is unmatched."
Cleverley scored against Celtic in Toronto, and his superb individual goal in the MLS All-Star game was the best of the five-game tour.
However, when the Premier League season started, Cleverley was not in United's first three squads. Impatient to play, he went to see Ferguson, with whom he enjoys a good relationship, and a loan to Wigan was agreed.
Cleverley continues to fulfil his potential, now at the highest level.
"I'm a goalscoring midfielder with good energy and fitness levels," he said candidly. "I can cross but need to work on my heading and my left foot. All I need now is experience."

Cleverley return could ease Park strife
http://m.gmgrd.co.uk/res/701.$plit/C_71_article_1392916_image_list_image_list_item_0_ image.jpg?15%2F12%2F2010%2010%3A21%3A03%3A557
Manchester United could reluctantly consider recalling Tom Cleverley from Wigan to ease their midfield dilemma when Ji-sung Park leaves for the Asian Cup in Qatar.
Sir Alex Ferguson is likely to monitor the depth of the Old Trafford engine room after the hectic festive season before making a decision on the England Under-21 star.
Ideally, the United boss wants Cleverley to continue to top up his Premier League experience at the DW Stadium.
A season-long loan with Roberto Martinez’s men was considered the best option for Cleverley to progress.
After a slow start and a couple of injuries, the 21-year-old had got into his stride at Wigan.
He has scored twice in his last three outings and has become a vital part of Martinez’s midfield.
Though he is awaiting news of a possible cracked rib sustained against Everton last weekend, Cleverley could still be heading back to Old Trafford in January.
To a large extent that will depend on any injuries the Reds may pick up over Christmas.
There is still huge doubt over the future of Owen Hargreaves with the England midfielder having sustained a hamstring injury on top of all the previous woes that have caused him so much angst over the last two years.
Paul Scholes picked up a groin strain against Rangers and has missed the last four matches but could be back against Chelsea.
But losing in-form Park to international duty could rip a huge hole in Fergie’s plans.
Take the 29-year-old South Korean out of the equation and a disciplined option is lost to the manager’s selection.
And Park has also added a crucial goalscoring element to his armoury.
He has consistently been praised for his boundless energy since his arrival from PSV Eindhoven in 2005.
But a lack of a decent goal return had effectively stopped him becoming a regular first- choice.
However, this season Park has already amassed his best-ever goal haul for a United campaign.
His match-winner against Arsenal on Monday was his sixth of the season following on from Carling Cup efforts against Scunthorpe and Wolves, two match-winning goals against the latter in the league and one in the 7-1 destruction of Blackburn.
Triumph
He won praise from both camps after his first half headed triumph against the Gunners.
Sir Alex Ferguson described the Korean as “fantastic” and defender Rio Ferdinand added, “Ji is a big game player. That is a fact. He is a proper team player. We really appreciate him. We love having him here.”
Even the vanquished Arsene Wenger had a good word, saying: “He is a bit of a Freddie Ljungberg type. Of course he is a team player, a team worker. He can score goals as well. He is an efficient player.”
Park’s disappearance to Qatar for the Asian Cup (Asia’s equivalent of the European Championships) is, therefore, a badly timed one for the Reds.
The South Korean skipper will depart after the Boxing Day game against Sunderland.
Cho Kwang Rae’s national side start their bid to win their first Asian Cup since 1960 against Bahrain in Doha on January 10.
The Koreans then face Australia on January 14 and India on the 18th.
If Park and Co progress to the finals it will be an intense six games in 19 days in Qatar.
Fergie is expecting him to be absent for seven United matches.
Park says winning the trophy will be his top priority but admits it has come at a bad time for his United form.
“I have mixed feelings about the Asian Cup,” he admitted.
“I am playing with confidence. I feel a bit strange but I am always happy to join my national team as well.
“Even without me United have enough players to keep winning. I will concentrate on the national team and then focus on Manchester United.”
Traditionally, it is unlikely that Fergie would make a hasty plunge into the transfer market in January just to cover the loss of a player for a month.
However, if Hargreaves continues to breakdown with niggling injuries and the midfield department is hit badly over the next few weeks, then dossiers on Sunderland’s Jordan Henderson and Standard Liege’s Steven Defour will almost certainly be perused.

Prospek Cerah Menanti Cleverley
Rejdo Prahananda - Okezone
(fmh)

For someone who has made a habit of serenading his new team-mates with the Bill Withers classic Ain't No Sunshine, Tom Cleverley certainly has a bright future.
Three times Cleverley has announced his arrival on loan from Manchester United by singing the tune as part of his initiation, and fans of Leicester City, Watford and Wigan Athletic will vouch that one of the most exciting midfield prospects in the Barclays Premier League can be just as entertaining with a ball at his feet.
'It's my party trick, ' says Cleverley. 'It's a bit of a tradition at all clubs. If it's your first away trip you'll be singing that night. We all eat together and then you have to get up on the chair.'
Not every young player would choose Championship football or a relegation battle with Wigan over the high life at Old Trafford, but that is a sign of Cleverley's determination to further his career and prove that Sir Alex Ferguson is right to have such high expectations of him.
On Saturday, the England Under 21 international goes to Stamford Bridge with Wigan looking to do his parent club a favour by killing off Chelsea's faint title hopes.
However, if singing for his supper is simple enough for the boy from Bradford, the same could not be said for his United initiation at a hotel in Pretoria on the team's 2008 summer trip to South Africa.
'You have to do a little speech,' he recalls. 'One of the experienced players will ask you a couple of questions, and I got Giggsy. I was 18. It is daunting and that's why they do these things. It's not easy to stand up in front of all those names but you have to. It makes you a bigger person.'
Cleverley knows all about becoming a bigger person. Just how much he has had to grow up is clear from the compilation DVD given to him by his dad, Andrew, for his 21st birthday last August.
From the tiny boy dwarfed by his team-mates in the United U15s as he celebrates scoring on a barren pitch in Kenya in 2004, to the young man claiming a fine goal for Ferguson's side in the Houston Astrodome last summer, it is clear Cleverley has matured into the player his coaches knew he could be if only there was more of him.
At 16, they put him on a different scholarship to the other boys who went into full-time training. He was asked to split his time between United and two more years of school - football's equivalent of 'don't give up the day job'.
'I was never knocked back but I'd say I was doubted,' admits Cleverley, who now stands at 5ft 9in. 'I've never really had it easy in my career. Compared to everyone else in the team I was really small. It was hard for me.
'I always had the confidence that one day I'd be good enough and I always had to let my football do the talking instead of bullying people on the pitch. Even now in the Premier League you see so many big athletes.
'But you just look at three players who were up for the Ballon d'Or - Xavi, Iniesta and Messi. None of them are over 5ft 10in.'
A versatile midfielder with an eye for goal, Cleverley might not measure up to Messi just yet, but he has passed every test so far. When Ferguson handed him a first-team chance in South Africa, Cleverley came up with a goal against Kaizer Chiefs. He did the same against Valencia the following year and two more followed on last summer's tour of North America.
Before joining Wigan on loan he enjoyed spells in the Championship at Leicester and Watford. It is a period he believes turned him from a boy into a man.
'Living away from home has never been a problem for me,' says Cleverley, who was 11 when he chose United ahead of Leeds and Blackburn.
'I was in club digs by the age of 15 or 16. Although it's fantastic growing up at United, there's a point where you want a taste of first-team football.
'It's a bit strange to keep going out on loan. I don't think anyone can walk into a club and feel at home on the first day but I've gotten used to it. I've had four clubs and hopefully this time next year it's still four clubs and I'm playing for United.'
Cleverley and Danny Welbeck are the only members of their United youth team now playing in the top flight, but Ferguson is not short of young talent. He continues to place great faith in youth, insisting there is no value in the transfer market, and Cleverley sees comparisons with this generation and that of Beckham, Scholes, Butt and the Neville brothers.
'I'd much rather the manager didn't buy players because he trusts the youth he's got,' says Cleverley. Hopefully we can prove him right. It's going to be very hard to emulate what they did but we'll give it our best shot.
'There are comparisons. Me, Danny Welbeck and Chris Smalling are with the England Under 21s, which makes us closer, and there's a really good vibe around all the young lads. I think there are 12 or 13 players under 24 at United - Javier Hernandez, the Da Silva twins, Bebe, Gabby Obertan, Darron Gibson, Jonny Evans. There are plenty of lads there well capable of wearing the United shirt.'
Cleverley, whose great uncle Reg Stratton played alongside Johnny Haynes at Fulham, admits that Beckham is something of a role model.
'I've never had the blistering pace that other players have had so I always looked to try to play like Beckham. I try to get a bit of Beckham, a bit of Scholes and people have mentioned Park Ji-sung and his work-rate in midfield. They are all great players and I'd love to achieve what they have.
'Growing up at United you learn how to deal with the fame that's ahead. Your feet are always on the ground and you never feel like you've made it.'
Cleverley certainly speaks with a maturity beyond his years, even though there are the obligatory trappings of footballer fame at his Manchester apartment - the Range Rover, the 60in television, and a black gloss pool table with red cloth in United's colours.
He is almost as handy with a cue as he is with a football. Only the other week he was approached by a stranger at his local snooker hall.
'The guy had been watching me and came up and said, "Do you fancy coming down on a Tuesday or Wednesday night and playing for our team?". I told him I'm normally busy midweek!'
Coming from Yorkshire, it is hardly surprising that Cleverley is into rugby league and cricket - 'I was a batsman with a little leg spin in my locker' - and also plays off a golf handicap of 15 with little practice. But it's table tennis where the battle really begins.
'That's got really competitive with the England Under 21s,' he says. 'There's me and Jordan Henderson fighting for the title and Danny Welbeck, Kyle Walker, Michael Mancienne and Jack Cork all trying to get up to our level. Jordan's trying to take over my trophy but he's not there yet.'
Contrary to the words of his signature song, it isn't easy to put Cleverley in the shade.

Tom Cleverley: the rapid rise of United's next star
Andy Mitten | www.thenational.ae
There had been only one precedent at the club, Danny Simpson, who is now on the verge of a full England call-up after doing well with Newcastle United.

Cleverley sees future at United
http://igambar.com/p/goqvc
"Tom Cleverley expects to be in the first-team picture at Manchester United next season following positive talks with Sir Alex Ferguson.
Cleverley has been sent out on loan for the past three years to aid his development and has gradually become accustomed to playing at a higher level.
The England Under-21 midfielder spent time with Leicester in League One in 2009 before going to Watford in the Championship last term and onto Wigan in the Premier League this season.
Cleverley's focus remains on helping Wigan avoid relegation in his final game for the Latics against Stoke, but he is also looking further into the future.
He told Sky Sports News: "Hopefully first of all I can have a good finish to the season on Sunday and a good summer with the Under-21s if selected, and then into next season hopefully I can get a good pre-season under my belt and start featuring for Manchester United."
Asked if he would be part of Ferguson's plans next season, Cleverley replied: "Yes, from what he's been saying. I feel fully part of the team there and the squad, and hopefully I can just hit the ground running in pre-season and play my way into the team.
"That is what the plan has been for the last few years. I went out in League One, the Championship and now the Premier League, so it has been building up to next season when hopefully I can start featuring for the side and that will save the club from going out and having to buy another midfielder."

Will the England under 21 star be given a chance at United next season?
Although he may have only been given the second half to show his skills, Redflagflyinghigh favourite Tom Cleverley put on a fine display in
the England under 21 win over Norway.
Tottenham’s Danny Rose and Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge scored first half goals to see England win Sunday’s friendly 2-0. Cleverley impressed with a strong second half display which did his chances of making an impact on the United first team next season no harm at all.

Tom Cleverley: I can be the next Paul Scholes for Manchester United
http://m.gmgrd.co.uk/res/559.$plit/C_71_article_1423409_long_teaser_group_long_teaser _image.jpg?11/06/2011%2009:42:42:122
Tom Cleverley wants to save Manchester United cash put aside for replacing Paul Scholes.
Reds boss Sir Alex Ferguson is planning major surgery on his midfield following the retirement of Scholes and Owen Hargreaves' release.
Aston Villa's £15m England winger-cum-forward Ashley Young is set to be imported as part of the strategy and United fans are hoping that the stellar signing of Inter Milan's Wesley Sneijder comes off.
But 21-year-old Cleverley is aiming to build a case for his name to be in the frame.
The midfielder begins England Under 21s European Championship bid in Denmark against Spain and, after a successful season on loan at Wigan, hopes to remind Fergie that he can cut it in the competitive jungle of the Reds engine room next season.
“Paul Scholes' boots are very big ones to fill,” Tom told M.E.N Sport.
“He's been a winner and a great player. Any team is going to miss a player of that ability. But as always somebody has to step up. You hope that given the chance you can, along with everyone else, give something so he is not missed as much.
“I hope I can put my case forward and save the club some money. Wigan have helped me and I feel I am ready to tackle the job at United.
“I have spoken to the manager. We have had two or three discussions. They were good chats and he will be speaking to me again after the European Championships.
“I know United will be buying players this summer. The reality is that United are the biggest club in the world so they are going to be interested in the best.
“They will be linked with players and they will buy top players. You grow up at the club knowing that will be the case. That is part of the challenge.
“But we all know the manager promotes young home grown players so you have to show you are good enough. After the experiences at Wigan I know what it takes now at Premier League level. I want to be part of the manager's plans.”
In a bid to improve his Old Trafford portfolio Cleverley was a keen student at Wembley when United were taken apart by Barcelona in the Champions League final.
“As a United player and fan it wasn't a great experience at Wembley but as part of my education it was a massive lesson for me,” added Tom.
“From my point of view to study at close quarters Messi, Xavi and Iniesta was invaluable. Messi is wonderful but I think I can model my game on Xavi and Iniesta and also Pedro.
“The movement from those guys is incredible. They are not massive physically but they stay on the ball. They shield it so well. They used their body brilliantly.
“I need to get that into my game. My upper body strength has to be better but it is not all about working out in the gym it is also about how you use your body.
“They also out think opponents and that is something else I need to learn from them.
“Hopefully picking up those bits and bobs plus all the experience I will get at the European Championships will mean I will be a better player and ready for the challenge at United.”

Cleverley Ingin Jadi Suksesor Scholes
Meylan Fredy Ismawan - detiksport

Welcome to the 1st team, Cleverley...

Mantap banget permainan anak muda satu ini. kagak pake nahan bola lama lama, passingnya sangat efektif dan bisa membaca pergerakan pemain, baik kawan maupun lawan. Bahkan punya kelebihan dibanding oom Scholes karena faktor usia, dia sangat gesit dan cepat. Hanya saja belum memiliki tendangan gledek oom Scholes (asal jangan mewarisi tekelnya Oom Scholes aja dah...)

Cleverley wants more medals
Tom Cleverley is targeting more Wembley success
just moments after lifting the FA Community Shield on his competitive debut for United.
The Reds midfielder, who replaced Michael Carrick at half-time, was instrumental in United’s sensational 3-2 win over Manchester City and orchestrated the midfield superbly during an impressive performance in the capital.
And now that he has sampled his first taste of trophy success, Cleverley is hungry for more: “Hopefully there are many more to come and this is just the start,” he told MUTV. “As a young lad you see all of your heroes climbing up the Wembley steps so it was nice to do it too. Hopefully this is just the start.
“It’s great to get the win (at Wembley), especially against your local rivals. Hopefully we will be back here winning the League Cup in a few months, but we’ll concentrate on the league for now.
Despite impressing for United during the last two pre-season tours of the USA, Cleverley was yet to feature in a competitive fixture for the Reds, thanks mainly to his season-long loan at Wigan Athletic last season – which made Sunday’s victory over City all the sweeter for the England under-21 international, who is now hoping to cement his place in the first-team squad at Old Trafford.
“Personally I felt we dominated the game. I think they had a strong five minutes at the end of the half and they got two goals. I thought we were unlucky to down 2-0 but we made changes and we did well in the second-half.
“I have got to stake my claim now. I just want to do well for the club and personally work hard, and see where that gets me, so I am just pleased to be playing.”

Posisi terbaik cleverley emang ditengah, bukan disayap. Ditunggu aja peningkatan selanjutnya.
Klo masalah cleverley nggantiin wilshare sih ya susah.

Cleverley Masih Lapar Sukses
Manchester, detiksport - Semalam, Tom Cleverley sukses mengangkat trofi pertamanya setelah Manchester United menjuarai Community Shield.
Masuknya Cleverley ternyata mampu menghidupkan kembali lini tengah MU.

Cleverley Dipanggil Capello Guna Lawan Belanda
Masuk menggantikan Michael Carrick, pemain berusia 21 tahun itu menjadi motor serangan Red Devils hingga akhirnya mengejar ketinggalan dua gol menjadi kemenangan 3-2 atas rival sekotanya.
Seperti diberitakan Sky Sports , pemanggilan Cleverley tak lepas dari cedera yang dialami Jack Wilshere. Midfielder muda Arsenal itu memang sebelumnya diplot menjadi salah satu pilar lini tengah, sebelum mengalami masalah pada engkelnya.
Pemain Man.

There are talented players - and then there's Tom Cleverley... He's got it all says Solskjaer
8th August 2011 - dailymail
Standing outside Wembley in bomber jacket, torn jeans and white trainers, Tom Cleverley looked like any other Manchester United fan before last May’s Champions League final. Just another twentysomething with high hopes for his team on a big night.
Fast forward just two-and-a-half months and things have changed for a young midfielder who has taken the scenic route on his way to the United first-team squad.
Two days ago, Cleverley played a significant role in United’s FA Community Shield defeat of Manchester City. On Wednesday he will be at Wembley again, this time with Fabio Capello’s England squad.
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/08/08/article-0-0D56FA1000000578-75_468x337.jpg
Rather quickly now, 21-year-old Cleverley’s boxes are being ticked. On his Facebook page, Cleverley states that he hopes to ‘break into the Manchester United first team and go on to represent my country’. Time for a status update.
Those who know Cleverley are not surprised by the manner of his emergence at Old Trafford.
Former United reserve team coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer describes Cleverley as a ‘top-quality player and a top-quality human being’. United defender Patrice Evra, meanwhile, believes his young team-mate to be an emerging replacement for Paul Scholes.
Evra said: ‘He’s a fantastic player, I hope this season he will get a lot of opportunities.
‘In America on tour he played some amazing games, particularly against Barcelona in our last game.
‘In the second half against City you saw that he is not afraid and Manchester United need players like this. He’s a quiet lad, he’s a bit like Scholesy in that way. He never talks much, he just does his job on the pitch. He’s a very private guy. But to bring players through is what we do here. Players like him are the future.

From fan to star: Cleverley before the Champions League final
‘He knows he can help us to win more titles. That’s the Man United way. It’s always been like that.’
Some young footballers announce themselves in spectacular ways. Think Federico Macheda and his Old Trafford winner against Aston Villa at the age of 17 in 2009.
Others, however, take a different journey and Cleverley’s has taken him to Watford, Leicester and Wigan on loan. His ability has never been questioned, however, only his size.
Cleverley was almost released by United in his late teens. Only the enduring belief of Solskjaer and Under 18 coach Paul McGuinness prevented him being lost to the club.
‘He has developed slowly from a physical point of view,’ said United manager Sir Alex Ferguson. ‘But he has always been wily. He has always had a great understanding of the game.’
Speak to managers who have worked with Cleverley — such as Nigel Pearson and Malky Mackay — and they all speak of the young player’s attitude, professionalism and adaptability. These qualities were in place from an early age.
Neil Cuthbert was coach of the Eccleshill United boys team in Bradford when seven-year-old Cleverley was brought along by his parents in the mid-1990s. He remains close to the family.
Cuthbert said: ‘He came to an open training session. He was seven. At that age kids’ attention can wander. They don’t always focus and concentrate for a whole session. But Tom was different. He would stand at the front of the group with this hunger in the eyes. I would tell him something once and that would be it. He would do it.
‘His dad would tell me that at home he couldn’t get him in the house. He was always out the back doing little drills that I had set for him.
‘His desire was amazing, so was his ability to take things in. He played for our Under 9 team when he was seven but he never feared anything, even though he was small.
‘Tom was obsessed with football and still is. His attitude has never changed and I don’t think it will.
‘His idol was always David Beckham and I understand that. Just like Beckham, Tom will always want to improve and will never think he knows everything. He will never be a big-time Charlie.
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/08/08/article-0-0D56DD9400000578-428_468x345.jpg
‘The only time Tom will think he has made it is when he stops playing and can look back.’
One nod to Cleverley’s recent progress is the photo, now on his Facebook page, of him in the Wembley dressing room with the Community Shield.
Other than that, though, his page is unremarkable. No photos of wild nights out or anything to hint at brashness.
As Solskjaer, now manager at FC Molde in Norway, said: ‘He is the type of player you want in every squad.
‘There are talented players and then players like Tom who have everything. Tom is a class act as a person and a great player to have in a group.’
As United continue their efforts to sign Inter Milan’s Wesley Sneijder and await the return from illness of Darren Fletcher, Cleverley will no doubt find that a place in Ferguson’s first team will be hard to come by over the coming months.
Regarding England, it is to be hoped that his call-up to Capello’s squad results in something tangible against Holland.
Asked by a guy in a Manchester snooker hall not too long ago if he fancied playing for his pool team, Cleverley answered rather bashfully: ‘I tend to be busy on week nights.’
There doesn’t appear to be any likelihood of that changing anytime soon.

klo berita Sneijder bener, bakal jarang liat aksi Cleverly nih. Sayang, pdhl melihat perform dia kmrn pas CS jd optimis dgn ang muda-nya United.

Don't compare Cleverley with Scholes! Ferdinand doesn't want any pressure on youngster
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/08/13/article-0-0D56A33A00000578-7_468x321.jpg
Rio Ferdinand has cautioned against emerging Manchester United star Tom Cleverley being labelled the new Paul Scholes.
Sir Alex Ferguson said at the end of last season his biggest task for the summer was replacing the man many regard to be the finest English player of his generation.
Scholes' retirement led to United being heavily linked with Luka Modric, Wesley Sneijder and Samir Nasri.
However, instead of bringing in one of those big names, Ferguson looks set to rely on his youngsters, in particular Cleverley, who was outstanding in last weekend's Community Shield and was drafted into the England squad by Fabio Capello for the postponed midweek friendly with Holland.
Ferdinand has no doubts Cleverley can make a big impact for United this season, but the Londoner feels attaching the Scholes label would be too much for the 22-year-old.
'If he gets near to Paul Scholes he will have done well,' said Ferdinand, ahead of United's opening Premier League game at West Brom on Sunday.
'Tom will be his own player. I am sure he would rather be that than titled the new this or that.
'He has some great traits. He sees the game clearly and plays the ball forward in a nice way.
'It is a huge pressure to be tagged the next Paul Scholes.'
Born in Basingstoke, Cleverley grew up in Bradford and emerged through the Bantams' youth set-up.
His promise was quickly spotted by United and after joining the club's academy, Cleverley spent time on loan at Watford before going to Wigan last season, when he became battle-hardened during the Latics' successful fight against the drop.
'Tom has been here a long time,' recalled Ferdinand. 'He came part-time as a youngster. Everyone remembers him.
'He was very slight but he has worked hard. He has matured and grown.
'He has gone out on loan, done his apprenticeship and come back a fantastic young player.'
Like Jack Wilshere and Daniel Sturridge, Cleverley has benefited from time away, learning the harsh realities of life in the top-flight at a time when chances would have been limited at his parent club.
'Everybody knew he had the talent,' said Ferdinand. 'It was about realising it and pushing on.
'All the things people were worrying about, with regard to his height and size have been knocked on the head now. He is showing people his true worth.
'Sunday was one game but he did it on loan at Wigan last year. I heard Roberto Martinez speak many times about how good he is. He brings that to Manchester United and I am sure he will have a fantastic career.'

Yeah... Too many for just 1 game...
Just give him time.. He'll show us what he really can do to United...
