Philip Anthony "Phil" Jones (born 21 February 1992) is an English footballer who plays for Premier League club Blackburn Rovers (was), as a defender .

Club career
Born in Preston, Lancashire, Jones joined Blackburn Rovers youth team in 2002. He joined the senior team for the 2009–10 Premier League season, signing a two-year professional contract, and was given the squad number 28. He made his first team debut for Blackburn after starting the League Cup game against Nottingham Forest on 22 September 2009, in which Blackburn won 1–0. Jones made his first Premier League start for Blackburn against Chelsea on 21 March 2010, in a 1–1 draw at Ewood Park. Jones signed a new five-year contract with Blackburn Rovers on 4 May 2010. Jones started the 2010–11 season in midfield, becoming a regular member of the first XI before he sustained a knee injury in a game against West Ham United in December 2010, predicted to keep him from playing for five months. On 15 February 2011, six days before his 19th birthday, Jones added a one-year extension to his existing contract taking him up to the summer of 2016.

International career
Jones had represented the England Under-19 making his debut in the 3–1 win over Turkey on the 17 November 2009.
On 4 August 2010, Jones was called up to the England Under-21 squad. On 10 August, Jones won his first under-21 cap, starting for England against Uzbekistan. He was substituted in the 46th minute, having been replaced by Liverpool's Martin Kelly

Top 10 things you need to know about new United signing Phil Jones

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/incoming/article745556.ece/ALTERNATES/gallery-large/phil-jones+cropped

1) Philip Anthony Jones was born on February 21, 1992, in Preston. A centre back by trade, he also showed he could fulfil a defensive midfield role under Sam Allardyce.

2) He still lives in Lancashire with his mum and dad, so he won't have too far to travel to his new club. "I haven't really thought about moving out," Jones said. "If I did I would probably just end up back there most nights for my meals anyway."

3) He joined Blackburn as an 11-year-old and quickly made his way through the ranks, eventually establishing himself as a first-choice centre-back while still just 19 years-old.

4) He made his first team debut as a 17 year-old in Rovers' 1-0 Carling Cup win at Nottingham Forest on September 22, 2009. He was awarded the man of the match award for his performance.

5) He played again the Carling Cup - against Peterborough - and in the FA Cup defeat to Aston Villa before making his Premier League debut in the 1-1 fraw with Chelsea at Ewood Park on March 21, 2010.

6) He went on to make nine league appearances in the 2009-10 season and was rewarded with a five year contract for his troubles. Jones became a first team regular the following season, starting every league game until he suffered a serious knee injury in the home draw against West Ham on December 12. He didn't play again for the first team until the following March.

7) He made his debut for the England Under-19s in the 3-1 win over Turkey on November17, 2009. The following August, Jones made his Under-21 debut against Uzbekistan.

8) He's since won five Under-21 caps and is part of Stuart Pearce's squad at the European Championship. Jones should line up for England against Spain on Sunday afternoon.

9) A homeboy, he likes to spend his Saturday nights watching Match of the Day with his mum and dad. "I haven't been criticised by Hansen yet," he joked last season. Stick around, kid...

10) New teammate Wayne Rooney is already a fan. The striker tweeted: "Phil jones is a good young english player. 1 of the toughest defenders I played last season. Can play midfield to." Which is odd, considering Jones was part of the Rovers defence that shipped seven at Old Trafford last season, but there you go...

Former Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce: Phil Jones has the mental strength to succeed at Manchester United
Former Blackburn boss insists United's latest signing always had the mental toughness to deal with Premier League demands and backs Sir Alex Ferguson to build one more top team

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce believes Phil Jones has the mental strength needed to succeed at Manchester United and backed Sir Alex Ferguson to build another successful team at Old Trafford.

Allardyce gave Jones his debut at Blackburn back in 2009 and insists the mental toughness and all-round ability of the 19-year-old were never in doubt.

Asked about the £17 million man’s qualities, Allardyce told the BBC: “I think that there’s quite a number of things.

"I think first of all his mental strength and his ability to cope with the pressures of the Premier League at such a young age.

"He wasn’t fazed, he didn’t look to nervous, he looked quite calm and I think that’s important going into the biggest league in the world at such a young age.

“He made his debut - I think it might have been against Chelsea - against Drogba, and I think he might have actually won man of the match that day.

"It shows that his mental strength was always going to be good enough and that’s one of the biggest factors if you’re going to be a top, top player I think.

“His skills after that was always there for us all to see in training and his capabilities as a footballer where he held in every department the right type of ability to be a very, very good defender.

“I think that eventually, with a little bit more experience - which he’ll gain more quickly at Manchester United - he’ll ultimately become an England defender.”

With early trends in the transfer market seemingly outlining a clear demand for British players, Allardyce believes the changing in football’s rules have added a premium to the cost of young home-grown talent’s such as the departing Blackburn youngster.

“I think in today’s football world we’ve seen a change of the rules where each club has to find a certain number of home-grown players and I think that puts players of Phil’s calibre and of his type even more expensive than they were before,” added the former Bolton boss.

Many are tipping the signing of Jones to be the start of a new era at Old Trafford as Sir Alex Ferguson attempts to re-build his squad following the retirements of veterans Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Edwin Van Der Sar and Allardyce showered praise on the abilities of United’s manager.

“I think he’s getting close to double figures in re-builds," added the recently-installed Hammers manager.

“I think that’s what makes him the greatest manager there’s ever been in club football because of how many teams he’s re-built and how many teams have been successful that he’s re-built.

“I think that this one is going to be as exciting as the first one when he’s getting young players of the talent of Phil Jones and Chris Smalling and of course Wayne Rooney is still very young and Nani, Anderson, people like that - and of course the Brazilian twins.

“So it think he’s well on his way to that re-build already but he’ll want to make sure he’s got a team ready for the next Champions League challenge in the hope that he can get closer for trying to beat Barcelona if he meets them again.”

Phil Jones Mau Jadi 'Ferdinand Baru'
Doni Wahyudi - detiksport

Blackburn - Manchester United dikabarkan tinggal selangkah lagi mendapatkan Phil Jones.

Harga Jones tergolong mahal mengingat dia baru berusia 19 tahun.

Rossi Finza Noor - detiksport

http://images.detik.com/content/2011/06/10/72/PJOnesGetty-isi.jpg

Jones valued by Rovers at £25 million
Soccernet, Harry Harris - June 9, 2011

Phil Jones' move to Manchester United from Blackburn Rovers has been put on hold by a dispute about the player's valuation - and ESPNsoccernet can reveal a growing row between the two Premier League clubs.

ESPNsoccernet has learned that Blackburn value Jones far in excess of the £16 million offered by Manchester United to trigger what the champions believe is a release clause.

A Rovers insider told ESPNsoccernet that the player is "the nearest thing to a Tony Adams or John Terry" and that, in the view of Rovers, and their advisers put him in the £25 million category.

Unusually, the player has already passed his medical and agreed personal terms with United, which normally means the clubs have agreed the fee but ESPNsoccernet has discovered that a clause in Jones' contract only triggers the player's ability to discuss a potential move with a club who offers £16 million rather than fully complete the deal. Rovers' hierachy's stance is that the deal is by no means done and they will hold out for more cash.

So Jones has been able to agree terms with Manchester United and go through the medical - even though the two clubs have failed to reach agreement. With Jones already believed to have turned down other moves to Liverpool and Arsenal, the move still looks likely to end at Old Trafford but the quibble over the fee may stall it for some time. United are yet to comment officially about the deal.

emang sih hot prospect.. tapi ya kalo harganya segitu.. mending dialokasikan ke posisi yg lebih dibutuhkan kalo cuma 6-9 jt sih oke2 aja
maslahnay mungkin ntar baru masuk regulernya beberapa taun lg.. ato mungkin malah ntar di loan gara2 ga dapet tempat udah penuh ama vidic, rio, smalling and evans

Harga 16 jt klo menurutku masih dalam taraf wajar klo buat younster Inggris. Seperti yang diketahui harga pemaen asli inggris mahal banget (terlalu mahal klo dibandingin negara laen dengan kemampuan sama) trus ditambah langkanya pemaen muda Inggris yang bagus. Jadi harga itu wajar buat pemaen potensial asli inggris terlepas masih muda dan minim pengalaman.

Walcott aja pas dibeli sampe harga 5jt dan naik jadi 10jt diumur 15 tahun... Klo dibandingin ma peamen muda luar inggris sih harga Jones jelas mahal.

United's Jones bid in tatters: Blackburn warn they won't be bullied as Liverpool launch £22m swoop
By Nick Harris on 11th June 2011 - dailymail

Manchester United’s multi-million pound signing of teenage defender Phil Jones from Blackburn Rovers lies in tatters.

Blackburn’s Indian owners have reacted furiously to what they perceive as United’s attempt to railroad them into selling the 19-year-old and have told United: ‘We will not be bullied’.

And in a stunning 11th-hour development on Saturday, the Mail on Sunday can reveal that Liverpool have told Blackburn they will pay £22million for Jones, a move that will ruin Sir Alex Ferguson’s holiday mood as he takes a break in the south of France.

Arsenal have also belatedly submitted a bid that tops United’s £16.5m offer, and with Chelsea showing serious interest in the player, too, an auction appears to be unfolding. It will come as a bitter blow to Ferguson if he misses out on Jones, and it will sting all the harder if the player ends up at United’s fierce rivals at Anfield.

Rovers’ owners have been angered by United’s attitude and at a meeting on Saturday in Pune, India, which was attended by manager Steve Kean — straight off a plane to Mumbai — they resolved to prevent the deal going through.

United have offered to make Jones the highest-paid teenager in the history of English football with a startling £80,000-a-week contract, but Blackburn are even prepared to top that.

Rovers chairwoman Anuradha Desai made it clear to Kean and fellow executives, who made up a ‘war council’ in India, that they must try to persuade the defender to stay. The prospect of being a future club captain is also being dangled before Jones.

Money is said to be ‘not an issue’ for Desai’s family, who are billionaires through their Venky’s poultry conglomerate.

They want to keep their best players, especially homegrown talents such as Jones.

But if they fail to persuade him, they will do all they can to elicit the best price from one of Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, United or Tottenham, telling Jones: ‘If you go, you go where we get the best money.’

A source close to Rovers said. ‘United can’t do what they want in this case. Jones is a Blackburn player and while there is a clause that could mean he leaves, it’s far from the straightforward issue everyone assumes it to be.’

Jones signed a United shirt for fans while training with England’s Under-21s in Denmark on Friday and, along with his representatives and United, had thought the transfer was a formality.

The player wants to join United but it is not known whether he has even been informed yet that Liverpool have made a bigger offer.

A major headache for United is in the interpretation of the release clause in Jones’s contract. They triggered it with their £16.5m offer and were allowed to talk to the player as a result.

But Rovers have taken legal advice and insist the clause does not force them to sell to the first club to meet the figure.

The biggest loser in all this could be England Under- 21 boss Stuart Pearce.

He would not name his team on Saturday night for the opening game against Spain as the possibility of the transfer deal distracting the versatile defender grew.

Sumbernya dari mana Sob? Aku juga berharap gitu...

Normalnya buy out clause ya langsung aktif klo ada klub yang mau mbayar seharga segitu. Tapi klo lihat artikel di dailymail, "But Rovers have taken legal advice and insist the clause does not force them to sell to the first club to meet the figure." rovers tentu punya "senjata" kenapa mereka berani "nantang" United.

Aku juga nggak paham gimana sebenernya kasusnya tapi selama blom ada rilis resmi klub sih trauma ma transfer2 gagal sebelumnya. Apalagi media2 sana dah seolah2 meresmikan transfer ini. Bikin malu aja klo sampe gagal.

Hanya berharap Jones konsisten dengan keputusannya (nggak seperti Obi), meski proses transfer bermasalah tapi klo dia dah mutusin United dia akan setia nunggu sampe semua kelar.

16jt pound menurutku sih wajar, tapi klo 22-25jt pound??? Wih... proses transfer yang bikin emosi.

Moga tetep 2-0 buta United (Young, Jones) atas pool.

Jones tells Blackburn he wants Man Utd - not Liverpool
12.06.11 | tribalfootball.com

Blackburn Rovers defender Phil Jones isn't interested in a move to Liverpool.

The Sunday Telegraph says on Saturday morning, the transfer took a dramatic twist when Liverpool stepped in with a counter offer for Jones, who has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave for offers of more than £16 million.

Liverpool’s bid is believed to have been around £6 million more than that of United, and was therefore welcomed by Blackburn’s owners, who dispute United’s interpretation of the clause.

They think an offer of £16 million merely allows a club to talk to Jones, and have decided that if the player is determined to leave, they should aim to have an auction for his services.

But Jones has told Blackburn he wants to join United rather than Liverpool, and the Old Trafford club are convinced that the detail of Jones's contract means they will succeed in completing his signing within a matter of hours.

untuk semakin memperkuat berita-berita diatas..

Phil Jones transfer to Man Utd confirmed by his agent

Defender to be unveiled in the next 48 hours

Paul Smith, the chief football reporter for the Sunday Mirror, has intimated that the agent of Phil Jones has confirmed his client’s transfer to Manchester United. In a text received by Smith, the defender’s agent disclosed the following information:

“I expect the deal to be formally announced in the next 48 hours. The buy-out clause put in by BRFC cannot be challenged."

He added the player was given permission by BRFC to speak to four clubs who met the buy-out clause and he opted for MUFC. It would make no difference to the player if LFC offered more money at this stage. He has joined United in the best interest of his career.

However, an article by Sporting Intelligence claims that Manchester United have indeed increased their offer to £20.5m even though the buy-out clause was correctly reported at £16.5m. Why would United agree to pay £4m more than they were obliged to? According to the article it was done to make the transfer happen as soon as possible and to avoid going down an acrimonious path.

“A crucial fact that muddied the waters is United appeared to know precise details about the terms of the release before Rovers had given any club permission to speak to the player. The only way United could have known this is if Rovers had told them – and sources insist they didn’t – or if somebody else told them when they shouldn’t have done so under the letter of the transfer laws.

This fact, as well as Liverpool’s offer of £22m, gave Rovers some traction in negotiations. Well-placed senior sources in India have made it clear that a tapping-up complaint against Manchester United was an option open to them.

If Manchester United felt they were on solid ground with their £16.5m deal and no more, that’s what they’d be paying. But they’re not paying that. That’s why the deal has been agreed at £20.5m. They are paying more to make the deal happen now.”

As always, one has to take these assertion by people “in the know” with a pinch of salt. If Jones becomes as good as several people have said he can, he might well be worth the extra £4m. Do I believe United paid £4m more than they had to?

Why not? It seems unlikely, but if they are certain of his ability as well as potential it only makes sense to conclude the business as soon as possible and avoid any clubs from hijacking the deal. On the other hand, the player had already agreed terms with the club. Even if Blackburn had lodged a complaint, the deal would have to go through by the letter of the law.

This deal has cast Blackburn’s hierarchy in a bad light and will only make Blackburn’s future targets very wary of signing with a club that conducts itself in such a manner and does not adhere to the terms & conditions it had agreed to. On Man Utd’s part, it looks like the club has a definitive plan and are dead certain about the players who must be acquired in order to continue winning trophies and that is very pleasing.

Jones price is right as United win cash battle to sign Blackburn defender
By Chris Wheeler, dailymail 12th June 2011

Phil Jones will finally move to Manchester United after the Barclays Premier League champions refused to budge on their £16.5million offer for the Blackburn defender.

Following a meeting with manager Steve Kean in India, Rovers owners Venky’s admitted defeat in their attempts to force United to pay more.

There were suggestions the deal could be in jeopardy or that United might at least agree to pay various add-ons that could push the eventual figure past £20m.

But they are sticking to the £16.5m release clause in the 19-year-old’s contract, safe in the knowledge that Blackburn are powerless to stop him leaving.

Venky’s had attempted to block the deal, claiming they would not be bullied into accepting United’s bid for a player they value at £25m when there were other offers from Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham.

However, they were forced to accept that the clause — inserted into Jones’s contract in February — had been ratified by their own executives and could not be challenged.

The situation was further complicated by Liverpool lodging a new £22m bid over the weekend, but Jones’s desire to join United meant his move to Old Trafford was never in doubt.

In a further twist, Venky’s are suspicious that United knew the exact figure of the release clause, and considered calling in the Premier League to investigate if an illegal approach had been made.

There are similarities with Christian Ziege’s departure from Middlesbrough in 2000, when Liverpool signed the Germany full back for the £5.5m release clause in his contract even though Chelsea and Rangers were offering £8m.

United seal Jones deal

Phil Jones is set to become United's first signing of summer 2011 after the Reds successfully negotiated a transfer with his current club Blackburn Rovers.

A club statement published on Monday reads as follows:

"Manchester United is delighted to announce it has signed an agreement with Blackburn Rovers for the transfer of Phil Jones.

"The player passed a medical in Manchester last week and has agreed a 5-year contract. The deal will be completed once the player returns from international duty."

Jones, 19, came through the youth ranks at Blackburn before turning professional on 1 July 2009. He made his senior debut two months later, in a Carling Cup victory at Nottingham Forest, and went on to make a total of 40 appearances for Rovers.

The robust central defender, who can also play in midfield, has been capped seven times so far by England at Under-21 level. The latest appearance was in Denmark on Sunday, when he started alongside new club colleagues Tom Cleverley, Chris Smalling and Danny Welbeck in the 1-1 draw with Spain in the UEFA Under-21 Championships.

Smalling Sambut Antusias Kedatangan Jones

Herning, detiksport - Bagi Chris Smalling, bermain bersama Phil Jones bukanlah sebuah hal yang baru. Kini, ketika Jones resmi berbaju Manchester United, Smalling pun menyambutnya dengan antusias.

Baik Smalling maupun Jones sama-sama anggota timnas Inggris U-21.

Rio or Hargo's Replacement, fergie??

Phil Jones ready for Manchester United challenge

June 21, 2011
MEN

Manchester United’s young gun Phil Jones must bide his time before usurping Rio Ferdinand

Phil Jones admits he faces a “massive challenge” to break into the United side.

But the Reds’ £16.5m new signing is raelishing the chance of battling with Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic for a place in the first team.

Jones, who is taking a holiday after playing in England’s European Under-21 Championship campaing, said: “I’m not sure when my first day is going to be.

“Hopefully, I will get a call from the gaffer and I’m looking forward to that.

“Everyone knows they (United) are one of the biggest clubs on the planet.

“It’s a massive move for me and I just can’t wait to get started. It’s a massive challenge.”

“Chris Smalling has shown you can go there and play games for United.

“He has done extremely well.

“The gaffer has shown he is not afraid to put young faces in the team. When I get the chance, I am confident I will take it.”

Jones is also unflustered about facing the famous Ferguson ‘hairdryer’, adding: “I’m ready for that.”

Jones and Smalling’s performances were one of few bright spots for England in Denmark during the past 10 days and the pair look set to be a long-term partnership for both club and country.

Jones said: “Chris is a fantastic player. I enjoy playing with him and we complement each other well.

“Hopefully, we can do that in the future.”

Jones was captain for Sunday night’s defeat against the Czech Republic which effectively knocked them out of the competition.

“We are disappointed, distraught, gutted,” said Jones. “It is hard to sum up how we are feeling in words.

“It won’t put me off wanting to be captain in the future. To walk the lads out at the start of the game was an honour.”

Jones Siap Hadapi Terapi 'Hairdryer' Fergie
Mohammad Resha Pratama - detiksport

Schooled for success: New Manchester United star Phil Jones has not forgotten his roots

http://m.gmgrd.co.uk/res/815.$plit/C_71_article_1424743_image_list_image_list_item_0_ image.jpg?24%2F06%2F2011%2010%3A39%3A44%3A273

Phil Jones sits proudly among an esteemed list of alumni from Balshaws Church of England High School.

Joining former pupils as varied as celebrity hairdresser, Michael Douglas, and Kim Libreri, who won an Academy Award for special effects work on the Matrix, United’s new £16.5m signing is the latest success story from the specialist engineering school in Leyland.

If Sir Alex Ferguson’s instincts are correct, the 19-year-old will go on to be much more than Balshaws’ most celebrated graduate – but a hero for club and country too.

That’s how highly the United manager rates Jones – and why he was prepared to hastily redraw his summer transfer plans to fend off the challenges of Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea for a player who has ‘future England captain’ written all over him.

Jones sparked the biggest transfer scramble for a teenager from these shores since Theo Walcott’s move from Southampton to Arsenal in 2006.

He went from a virtual unknown to being mentioned in the same breath as the summer’s other top targets in Wesley Sneijder, Alexis Sanchez and Samuel Eto’o.

As of next month he’ll head to work each day alongside Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs.

But one of the most pivotal figures during his formative years insists stardom won’t change the down-to-earth Chorley boy, described by those who know him as a breath of fresh air.

Science teacher, Caroline Molyneux, was Jones’ form tutor at Balshaws and remains close to him to this day.

“Every time I see him, I always say: ‘You’d better not end up like those other footballers’,” she said. “But he’s always been very grounded.

“He never even wanted to mention the possibility that he might be kept on for another year at Blackburn when he was part of their academy. He didn’t want to jinx it.

“He was never complacent. He didn’t think: ‘I’m going to be a footballer, it doesn’t matter about my grades.’ His homework was always in on time and he knew the importance of his education.”

Factfile

Name: Phillip Anthony Jones
Born: February 21, 1992
Age: 19
Birthplace: Preston
Career Details:
Blackburn Rovers: (2009-2011) 35 starts 0 goals
England: Under-19 and Under-21 international
Did you know? Countdown contestant and Burnley footballer, Clarke Carlisle, went to the same school as Jones.

Jones still keeps in touch with his former tutor, contacting her by text and arranging tickets to matches. “He was just a really nice lad,” Miss Molyneux added. “Of course he was one of the lads because he was in the football team. But he was really kind. He used to bring me a key ring back from wherever he went in the summer and I’ve still got them.

“He was part of my first tutor group and I’m still in touch with them all.

“I’m a Wigan fan and when he first went to Blackburn and they were playing Wigan, he sent me a text asking if I wanted tickets.

“I said I didn’t want to pester him because I imagined a lot of people would be after tickets. He said: ‘But not everyone used to throw pizza parties in the tutor group.’”

His former tutor’s description of him is consistent with the views of many who have come to know Jones.

Still living with his parents in Clayton-le-Woods, he remains friends with those he went to school with.

While he refused to take for granted that he would make it at Blackburn, his rapid rise at Ewood Park came as something of a surprise to those within the club as well.

Considered further behind in his development than other central defensive prospects, Gavin Gunning and Grant Hanley, he hadn’t played for England at any level until the Under-19s.

It wasn’t until he was thrown into a Carling Cup tie at Nottingham Forest by former Rovers boss Sam Allardyce in September 2009 that his career took off.

Mild-mannered off the pitch, the sight of him bawling out the considerably more experienced, Chris Samba, when making his Premier League debut against Chelsea, was a measure of his confidence on it.

And his ability was quickly noticed by all of the Premier League’s leading clubs.

Arsenal made the first approach last summer after he’d made only 12 first team appearances. Chelsea came sniffing in the January transfer window, switching their attention to David Luiz when their approach was rebuffed.

Jones signed a five-year deal in May last year and then a one-year extension in January, which crucially included the £16.5m buyout clause that United exploited when fighting off the attentions of Kenny Dalglish to land the most highly-rated teenager in England.

It was the size of the fee Ferguson was prepared to spend – particularly in a summer of major rebuilding at Old Trafford – that emphasised just how good the Reds boss believes his centre back can be.

It is understood that United would have preferred to wait another 12 months before making their move, but Liverpool’s interest forced them to act.

Ferguson has often complained of a lack of value in the transfer market, which is why a bid of £16.5m for a player who has yet to win a full international cap raised eyebrows.

But Jones’ composure and leadership qualities that were so evident in England’s Under 21 European Championships campaign were too good to miss out on, according to Ferguson.

He already had his fingers burned when forced to break the British transfer record and spend £30m on Rio Ferdinand in 2002, when he could have had him for £12m less if he’d moved two years sooner.

Two years from now, Jones’ value could have more than doubled. More to the point, he could have been lost to United for good if he had ended up in the arms of one of their main rivals.

By the end of the Euros, England manager Stuart Pearce had installed Jones as captain. The new John Terry may one day have the senior armband too.

The ‘Pride of Balshaws’ section on his former school’s website might have a lot of updating to do in the future.

GNev: Phil Jones Could Be United Captain

ROM

Gary Neville has sung the praises of 19-year-old new signing, Phil Jones, claiming that he has the potential to be the captain of United one day.

Speaking with The New Paper from Singapore, our former captain has hailed the performances of Jones in the league for Blackburn, particularly against us on the day we won the 19th title last season.

“I think this lad is going to be a star,” he said.

“I think he’s someone who could be a captain of Manchester United in the future. He’s really solid, someone who I think can be a huge player for Manchester United in the next ten years. I think there’s a lot of potential in him. The performances that he’s put in over the past two years in the Premier League, particularly against us, have been outstanding. Neville: Jones Akan Menjadi Bintang
Rossi Finza Noor - detiksport

Debut, Phil Jones Sampai Kesulitan Bernapas
Narayana Mahendra Prastya - detiksport

Chicago - Phil Jones melakoni laga debutnya bersama Manchester United.

Saya puas."

Man Utd new boy Jones happy to play in defence and midfield

Manchester United recruit Phil Jones admits he would be happy playing anywhere for his new club.

The 19-year old joined the English champions from Blackburn Rovers in a big-money move earlier this summer and is continuing to prepare for his debut season with the Old Trafford club.

Ahead of Saturday’s Community Shield clash against crosstown rivals Manchester City, Jones said he would prefer to play as a centre-half but would be just as comfortable in midfield.

"I used to play in midfield but I definitely consider myself a centre-half and that's where I play my best football," Jones told Inside United.

"I like to see the game in front of me and read the play. At Blackburn, when the manager asked me to move into midfield, it was strange and I didn't expect it.

"It took a few games to adapt to that role and the positions to take. If I was asked to do that here, I'd feel comfortable with it.

“As a centre-back, I read the game well. I'm good in the air and have a decent range of passing," he added.

"Like every footballer, I have things to improve and I'll continue to work on them at United."

Fabio Capello to call-up Phil Jones for England friendly with Holland

After only one season in the Premier League Phil Jones found himself to be worth £17m and a must-have signing by Manchester United. Now his meteoric rise will include a call-up to Fabio Capello's provisional England squad for the friendly with Holland.

Sir Alex Ferguson sees the 19-year-old as the successor to Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic at the heart of United's defence but the time scale may have to be drastically altered.

Jones may not make the final cut from a 30- to a 23-man squad for the game with Holland at Wembley next Wednesday but his performances for England at the recent Under-21 European Championship impressed Capello.

"It has all happened so quickly," Jones said. "I'm 19 and I did not expect so much to occur at such an early stage. I'm just riding the rollercoaster and enjoying everything. I did play every week at Blackburn and want to do the same at United but I am a realistic person. I know it is not going to happen with the quality of player we have here. Hopefully as I improve I will get an opportunity and will take it."

Jones has been used at right-back during United's pre-season tour and can also play at the base of midfield but is adamant centre-back is his best position.

Phil Jones Tak Masalah Berangkat Dari Cadangan

(sun/lex)

Jones recalls United nightmare

New United defender Phil Jones could start Monday's first home game against Spurs following injuries to Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic and Rafael, and his impressive display as a substitute at West Brom.

No doubt the 19 year-old will be hoping for a better experience than his maiden Old Trafford appearance with former club Blackburn Rovers, as Jones recalled in this recent interview with ManUtd.com's Nick Coppack...

How did you feel when you signed for United?
It’s one of those things that sends shivers down your spine. Putting pen to paper at Manchester United is a massive thing for me and my family. I’m here now and I’ve got to prove I’m good enough.

What was it like meeting Sir Alex for the first time?
It can be a daunting experience... It was brilliant. We talked for hours, but not necessarily about me or the club, about things in general. It settled a few nerves.

You were part of pre-season in the USA with United this year – what was different about that experience for you?
The fan base. United are probably the biggest club in the world with a massive support, which is different. Also, going to America on tour and turning out against teams that you wouldn’t normally play was a great experience.

Is it only when you get to the club that you really realise how big United are?
Of course. I don’t think you can really picture what it’s going to be like. You can’t imagine it but once you’re actually here it is a bit of a whirlwind experience until you start settling down with the players. I feel comfortable with them now.

Do you already feel at home at a big club like this?
Yes. You can’t afford to sit back and watch time pass by, you’ve just got to get on with it and I’m delighted to be part of such a fantastic club.

Was pre-season particularly important to you because you’re at a new club?
There was that element. At a new club you want to prove to the players that you’re good enough for this team, and that’s what I want to do.

Did knowing a few of the lads already make settling in a bit easier?
It’s very helpful. I know Tom Cleverley, Danny Welbeck and Chris Smalling, who are all great lads that I’ve played with England at under-21 level. It’s been a pleasure to work with them, and they’ve told me all about the club and how good it is.

How beneficial is it to have played alongside Chris Smalling for England?
That will only help. We’ve done really well together with England and kept quite a few clean sheets. We communicate well and read each other’s game, which is a good thing to have in a partnership at the back.

As a centre-back you’ve obviously got some good role models at United…
They [Ferdinand and Vidic] are brilliant defenders. I’ve always watched those two play together and tried to model my game on them and copy things they do.

You played in midfield when you were younger. Could you do that for the Reds or are you now purely a defender?
I definitely consider myself a centre-half and that’s where I play my best football. I like to see the game in front of me and read the play. At Blackburn, when the manager asked me to move into midfield it was strange and I didn’t expect it. It took a few games to adapt to that role and the positions to take. If I was asked to do that here I’d feel comfortable with it.

You grew up as a Blackburn supporter, but you must have admired the Reds while you were growing up...
Very much so. I’ve watched the DVDs of the Premier League years and seen the amount of trophies they would pick up at the end of the season. United have always been a fantastic team year-in, year-out, and I’m sure it will be the same this season.

What do you remember about your games for Blackburn against United?
They were difficult! Obviously you get a tough game whenever you play United but we drew 1-1 at Ewood Park in May, on the day United won the title. We got a drubbing at Old Trafford earlier in the season though, we lost 7-1.

What was Old Trafford like to come to as an opposition player?
I only played there once - in that 7-1 hammering! I was looking forward to it beforehand, and making sure I was fit. It’s a fantastic stadium with a great atmosphere and I was playing against some fantastic players. It's even better now I’m playing with them.

Jones eyes Smalling partnership

by Setanta Staff , 17 August 2011

Defender Phil Jones is confident he can form a solid partnership with Chris Smalling at the back for Manchester United if called upon to do so.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson must decide who out of Jonny Evans, Jones and Smalling to play at centre-half over the coming weeks after first-choice pairing Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand sustained injuries in Sunday's 2-1 victory at West Brom.

Jones, who came off the bench to make his Barclays Premier League debut for the Red Devils in the game, has already linked up with Smalling in England Under-21 matches and feels their success at that level will set them in good stead should they be required to deputise for Vidic and Ferdinand.

Asked how beneficial it is to have played alongside Smalling for England, Jones told the club's official website:

"That will only help. We've done really well together with England and kept quite a few clean sheets.

"We communicate well and read each other's game, which is a good thing to have in a partnership at the back."

Jones attitude impressed Fergie

By Jamie Casey | Skysports

Sir Alex Ferguson admits he first tried to sign defender Phil Jones in January and was determined not to miss out on the defender this summer.

Jones arrived at Manchester United from Blackburn this summer in a £16.5million move, having impressed Ferguson in his last appearance at Old Trafford.

Despite being on the losing side of a thumping 7-1 Rovers defeat last November, Ferguson admits the youngster's maturity took him by surprise.

"When he was playing against us in the 7-1 game, after the fifth goal he was running out and giving everyone around him stick and he was only 18 then. I was very impressed," said the United boss.

"After that I tried to get him last January. We put an inquiry in but Blackburn wouldn't sell him at that time."

Jones will make his home debut at Old Trafford against Tottenham on Monday, and Ferguson has no concerns over his inexperience despite being without senior central defensive duo Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.

"He was just one that we couldn't miss," said Ferguson of Jones. "He's definitely got all the parts to his game, there is no doubt about that.

"He has got the desire to play and he's a good trainer, with a great determination about him."

Fabio Capello to decide whether to hand Phil Jones his first international cap
The rise of Phil Jones has been so rapid and so remarkable that Fabio Capello will wait until Friday morning to decide whether to award the 19 year-old his first senior cap in the crucial Euro 2012 evening qualifier here against Bulgaria.

http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01986/jones1_1986156c.jpg

The likelihood is that Capello will go with the more experienced Gary Cahill as John Terry’s partner in central defence but on Thursday the England captain admitted that Jones is “the one I am looking over my shoulder at” when it comes to eventually taking his place in the senior team.
“For me, he’s the one who really sticks out in our position,” the 30-year-old defender said. “He clearly wants a place in the England side, whether that’s mine or someone else’s. He’s hungry for that.”
Indeed, unprompted, Terry recalled a difficult afternoon at Ewood Park, just 17 months ago, when he led Chelsea to an attritional 1-1 draw away to Blackburn Rovers. It was also Jones’s professional debut.

In my match report in The Daily Telegraph that day I talked of “one of the most assured, powerful debuts the Premier League has ever seen”.
The report added: “It wasn’t from a Chelsea player or a recruit from France, Portugal or Africa but an 18 year-old from Chorley by the name of Phil Jones, who gave the kind of dominant display that will be remembered for years to come.”

Afterwards the then Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce talked of Jones being a “young John Terry”.
Terry went even further on Thursday, revealing that the talk in the away dressing room afterwards had all been about the kid barrelling into tackles and rallying his team-mates.
“After that, the lads were talking and were eager for Chelsea to go and sign him,” Terry said. “Even back then. He went on to play a lot more games and establish himself.
"He’s very quick, good in the air, very comfortable on the ball, left and right foot. I’ve had the opportunity to play with him a couple of times in training as well, and he reads it very well. He literally has all the attributes that he’ll need to become a very good England player.”
Chelsea did not sign Jones and neither did Arsenal — although they bid £9 million last January. Instead he ended up at Manchester United this summer, in a deal worth £16 million, and has been an integral figure in the new, young United Sir Alex Ferguson has suddenly produced.

It is not just Jones but Tom Cleverley and Chris Smalling — who is likely to start this evening at right-back — to add to Wayne Rooney and United’s other big-money signing Ashley Young in this squad. Danny Welbeck would also have been included — and included as a starter — had he been fit.
“It helps them [the young players] that there’s a lot of Manchester United players — a big group of Manchester-based players now anyway — and we all get along as a squad,” Terry said.
“When you look at Smalling, Phil Jones as well, they’ve really got some great ability. Certainly myself and all the other players feel that. We feel that pressure of them pushing us and fighting for places. In the long-term, that’s great for the whole squad.”

Terry backed up Capello’s statement that he only wanted to include players who are featuring for their clubs — something the England manager has not always been able to hold to.
“He’s said to us all along, if you’re not playing for your clubs, he won’t pick you,” Terry said.
“This week has been an example of that with Rio Ferdinand being left out of the squad. We all know what a great player he is. The way the manager is, he won’t take no ---- from anyone.
"If you’re not playing, it doesn’t matter who you are, you won’t be picked. You have to be ready to step up. If he has to leave players out, it’s not a problem for him at all.”

The emergence of the United youth, added to that of Joe Hart, Theo Walcott and the (injured) Jack Wilshere has also put paid to the notion that Capello is generally mistrustful of youth — although the manager left himself open to that accusation after his conservative World Cup squad selection.
Not that Terry is ready to step aside yet — “I’m certainly not going to give it up lightly,” he said — and he has remarkable powers of recovery as shown in
regaining the England captaincy.

There is a pang of regret, though, and that was being injured with medial ligament damage when England went out of the campaign to qualify for Euro 2008, losing at home to Croatia. “I was on the verge of being fit and couldn’t risk it,” Terry said.

“I’ve always questioned whether I should have had an injection and played. Those things play on your mind. But I don’t want to live in the past. It’s in our hands. No one else’s. We have an opportunity now.”

"Fans United Akan Cintai Phil Jones"
Viriya Paramita | Aloysius Gonsaga

Jones eager for European bow

http://www.manutd.com/~/media/AFD7525F4E18466999684AC811DA35B7.ashx?h=179&la=ar-SA&w=480&rgn=0,96,790,390

Phil Jones is relishing the prospect of making his Champions League debut against Benfica on Wednesday night.

The summer signing from Blackburn was outstanding at right-back against Bolton and admits the thrill of competing against Europe’s elite was a factor in him trading Ewood Park for Old Trafford.

"I’m looking forward to it," he enthused to MUTV. "It is one of the main reasons why I came to Manchester United - to play Champions League football and test my ability against some of the best players in the world. If I get picked, I’ll look forward to the challenge.

"As defenders we always want to keep a clean sheet and it is a massive boost for us at Bolton, especially going into the Benfica match on Wednesday which is going to be a tough game, and then we have got Chelsea at the weekend."

Jones concedes he’d rather be playing with Javier Hernandez than against the Mexican, who proved he is back to his best with a splendid double at The Reebok in his first start of the new campaign.

"He is an unbelievable talent," added the defender. "Everybody knows what he is capable of and it is not a one-off as he does it week in, week out. We see it in training as well. He is a great player and a terrific player to have in your side.

"I play against him in training and sometimes he is un-defendable. He is so sharp in and around the box. Defenders find it hard to pick him up and he pops up with goals like he did on Saturday."

After Hernandez marked his Champions League debut with a winning goal at Valencia last term, Jones will probably be targeting a clean sheet first and foremost if he does make his bow in Lisbon.

Masa depan United juga tentunya ...

'Phil Jones Bek Masa Depan Inggris'

Bola.net - Mantan pemain belakang Manchester United, Gary Pallister, yakin Phil Jones sedang merintis jalan menjadi pemain bintang di masa depan.

malah beberapa pertandingan jadi sayap kiri kan?? hehehe... :hajar2:

English Rolls-Royce defenders are allowed to crash the occasional gear
The junior of the species is only one careless game away from becoming a fanny merchant or a trench-deserter

http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Football/Pix/pictures/2011/9/30/1317382845244/Phil-Jones-007.jpg

It is a part of following English football to feel, in among the absorbing passions, a sense also of something vital missing, a curtain-twitching envy for the alternative riches of abroad. This craving is often confined to simple things like an English goalkeeper who doesn't appear to be continually on the verge of bursting into tears, or to be unable to complete the simplest involvement in the game without pointing and shouting wildly like a man attempting to stop a municipal rubbish truck reversing into his greenhouse. Most common is the unanswered yearning for a genuine midfield fantasista, some big-haired visionary with a sense of perpetual menace in his gambolling size fours.

Personally I have always had a longing for something else: the kind of fluid, physically prodigious defender usually referred to as "a Rolls-Royce player". The Rolls-Royce is the rarest of species but his presence always seems to mark an apex in any nation's development, football's equivalent of the magnificent subterranean drainage system of ancient Rome, or the first striding appearance of David Hasselhoff across the ruins of the Berlin Wall.

So far this season it has seemed as though in Phil Jones, Manchester United's quietly alluring utility defender, we may have a genuine Rolls-Royce contender on our hands. That is, until Jones turned in one slipshod performance against Basel in midweek, a wobble that has led to a familiar sense of chagrin, of downgrading, a call for a scaling back of ambition.

This is how it goes for the junior Rolls-Royce, who is only ever one careless performance the right side of the fanny merchant and the trench-deserter. For this reason the first quality the Rolls-Royce player requires is effortless physical supremacy. He must glide in predatory fashion, propelled, shark-like, by his own flaring neck muscles. He must never weaken or tremble but must instead out-wrestle the wrestlers. There are, however, limits: in no circumstances must he wear a heroic white-conical bandage on his head.

Recently Frank Lampard was described as "a Rolls-Royce midfielder", but this is a category mistake as a Rolls-Royce can only ever really be a central defender, albeit one who seems to move in a different kind of gravity, to glide in his own unconventional patterns. These are not wild dashes forward. At the 1998 World Cup Sol Campbell memorably crash-tackled his way 30 metres upfield, arm-wrestled past the Argentina midfield and shinned a flailing shot narrowly off target, in what was almost a kind of caveman-Maradona moment. This was not the action of a Rolls-Royce, however, more a runaway cartoon pick-up truck or a milk float falling down a hill.

Instead the Rolls-Royce will often go unnoticed. He may make a couple of interceptions. There may be a surge forward just after half-time. But really his strength is strength in reserve. Unsurprisingly there haven't been many of these understated colossi: Frank Rijkaard was a Rolls-Royce. Matthias Sammer, the forgotten giant of the 1990s, was definitively Rolls-Royce.

I think we can say now that Rio Ferdinand is not really a Rolls-Royce, but is instead a very good defender with a sense of muscular grace. Steven Gerrard might have been a Rolls-Royce in a parallel universe: he has the surge and the skills and his defensive anchor role in the 5-1 defeat of Germany in Munich was an understated masterclass. But he is too frazzled and rushed, forever leaping out of his skin like a traumatised cat.

Among other Premier League pretenders David Luiz springs to mind but again the waters are muddied. Is he a Rolls-Royce? Or the kind of parping executive jalopy that comes floundering in from the wings, performs a pirouette and then makes its doors fall off so a clown can get out?

As David Luiz and Jones have found, there is inbuilt mistrust of the Rolls-Royce in England that almost feels like a kind of status anxiety. The Rolls-Royce player appears disarmingly frictionless, unfazed by positional boundaries. Within the rigid specialism, the furious literalism of English football, this frankly just isn't going to do, and the Rolls-Royce player carries a troubling edge of positional anarchy, a sense that before long he may start incorrectly addressing the under-gardener or asking the Queen what time it is.

Really, though, it is just a textural thing. The Rolls-Royce needs the right climate to flourish, football without sudden twitches or spasms, where the ball is treated like a soap bubble or an ostrich egg or a vital transplant organ. This is far from the norm at many levels of English football, where the ball is more likely to be treated as an obscure source of shame or even danger, to be frantically handed on before its flimsy glass frontage is cracked and a strain of deadly Ebola virus escapes.

Revolution comes from within, of course, and English football would be all the richer if the odd homegrown Rolls-Royce could be allowed to bloom. Surely we can forgive Jones – who seems physically there and who has bravery and poise – his minor transgressions, as we may forgive the flaws of a junior wing-jinker or a tyro goal-hanger. There is no shortage of stoppers and bruisers. But Jones is a rare model and he should be allowed to let his engines thrum without fear.

Manchester United's Phil Jones: it's flattering to be compared with Duncan Edwards
As Phil Jones pulls up a chair beneath the black and white images of Manchester United’s youngsters from previous generations, it becomes impossible to avoid the elephant in the room.

http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/02014/Jones_2014644c.jpg

A youthful Ryan Giggs dominates the backdrop, there are pictures of Paul Scholes, David Beckham, Gary Neville and, in the corner, a portrait of the Busby Babes with the imposing frame of Duncan Edwards standing out from the crowd.

“If you talk to Bobby Charlton,” says Paddy Crerand, Charlton’s team-mate in United’s 1968 European Cup winning team, “Phil Jones reminds him of Duncan Edwards with his power and build.”

At 19, four months after arriving at Old Trafford in a £16.5 million transfer from Blackburn Rovers – a move which enabled Jones to move out of his parents’ Leyland home for a central Manchester apartment – the England Under-21 defender is perhaps shouldering an impossible burden by evoking comparisons to Edwards, a name which occupies sacred ground at United and who, at 21, lost his life as a result of injuries suffered in the Munich air disaster.

But despite the pitfalls of such a nod to the past, given an emotional charge by Charlton’s advocacy, Jones accepts it as though he is, well, intercepting a pass in front of 75,000 people at Old Trafford.

“It’s brilliant for me to even be considered as being a player who could become as good as Duncan Edwards was,” Jones said. “It is flattering and, for young lads like myself and my team-mates to be compared to great young players of the past, it is an amazing feeling.

“People have told me about Duncan, facts and figures about him, but I obviously know what he means to this club. When you come into training in the morning, knowing that people are talking about you in the same breath as players of the Busby era, it is fantastic, but I can’t let it affect me. I have to play my own game and continue to do what I have been doing so far.”
However unfair, premature or misplaced the comparisons to Edwards might be, there is little doubt that Jones shares with his distant United predecessor a sense of being mature beyond his years.

Having lured Jones from Blackburn at the end of last season, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson admitted that the sight of the then 18 year-old directing his Rovers team-mates and attempting to cajole them into a response while trailing 7-1 at Old Trafford last November prompted an unsuccessful bid to sign the teenager in January.

Jones’s leadership qualities shone as Blackburn were dismantled by United and they left a mark on Ferguson, yet off the field, the defender speaks and acts like a man with a greater understanding of the world than most would expect of a 19 year-old.

The stable and supportive upbringing provided by parents Mark and Helen, Jones insists, is the central pillar of his outlook on football and life beyond the pitch, yet his character has also been shaped by the trauma of seeing two school friends lose their lives in tragic circumstances within the space of four years.

In 2006, Ryan Masterman was killed when he was knocked from his bicycle, while Matthew Miller died after falling from a motorway bridge in 2010.
Jones helped raise funds to provide a memorial for Ryan at Balshaw’s High School in Leyland and he admits such tragedies contribute to a wider perspective on life.

“Matthew was in my French and Spanish classes and he sat next to me, while Ryan was in my tutor group.” Jones said. “It was hard for us to go through it when it happened, it was very difficult.
“But we all pulled together and got a memorial garden set up for the lad, Ryan. He was a lovely lad, everyone got along with him really well, so it was terrible.
“Bad times are an eye-opener and, when things aren’t going well, I always remind myself that I have my family, my friends, my girlfriend.
“People like that will always be there with you, so I always try to take the positives out of things. That’s the joy of football, though, in that one minute you can be up there and the next, down here.”

After this interview Jones is off to visit patients at Francis House Children’s Hospice with United team-mate Chris Smalling.
“It’s horrible for people in those situations and we want to give things back,” Jones said.

“Football is hyped up these days and it is an amazing game that people quite rightly get excited about, but there are soldiers in Afghanistan and people fighting for their lives in hospital and sometimes we have to remember that.”
On the pitch, Jones’s greatest challenge after nine appearances in a United shirt appears to be living up to the hype that his performances for Ferguson’s United team have generated.

Although the timing of his move to Old Trafford in June surprised many, it has since emerged that United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Everton had all been courting him for months.
Ferguson’s interest was such that one senior figure at Ewood Park admitted privately that the Scot was “always talking about Phil whenever he came here”.

Blackburn rejected a £10 million bid for Jones from Arsenal in August 2010, but United secured his services by triggering a £16.5 million release clause in the player’s Ewood Park contract, despite intense competition from Liverpool.
Jones said: “It was brilliant when I heard of United’s interest, an incredible feeling.

“The whole experience – speaking to the manager on the phone, meeting him in person, going through the whole process of signing – was fantastic.
“Lots of clubs showed an interest in me, but United just felt right; the whole club, the set-up. It wasn’t the fact that it was United, it was that I walked in here and met people, the staff and physios et cetera, and it just felt right.
“At Blackburn, when I knew there was interest from bigger clubs, I said to myself that if it [a move] happens, then it has to feel right and this felt right.”
A delay in completing the transfer, caused by suggestions that Blackburn’s Indian owners, Venkys, were attempting to secure a greater fee for Jones prompted speculation that the deal was on the brink of collapse and that Liverpool were prepared to outbid United.

Jones insists, however, that he flew to Denmark with England Under-21s for the European Championships unconcerned by the failure of the two clubs to sign off the deal immediately.

“I was never concerned that it wouldn’t happen,” Jones said. “I was always confident because I knew it was happening. Rumours were flying around and people were talking about all sorts of things, but I knew 100 per cent that it would happen.

"There was talk of the Blackburn owners not willing to sell for a certain price, that they wouldn’t sell at all, but it wasn’t the case.
“There were even rumours on Twitter that I had failed a medical, which was simply not true. I was seeing all this on Twitter, knowing the reality of the situation, but I decided not to get involved and respond to it.
"I was laughing at some of the tweets, though, because people really didn’t understand what was going on.
“I spoke to Steve Kean over the phone and he was great to me.

“When it all went through he called me and wished me all the best and told me that I should be going to United as the number one because I was good enough to do it.”
Injuries to Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic have enabled Jones to justify Kean’s faith and belief earlier than many had anticipated.
A series of confident performances in United’s defence, both at right-back and centre-half, have left Ferguson facing a selection quandary when Vidic returns from his calf injury and Ferdinand draws a line under his fitness problems.

But while Jones admits to being surprised by his early progress at United, he does not feel as though his elevation has come too soon.
He said: “I wanted to come here and play. I didn’t want to come from playing every week at Blackburn to becoming a bit-part player at United, but I knew I probably had to do that at the start.

“I wanted to come to United because I felt that the club was right for me, so if I had to wait, I was prepared for it.” And the hype and star billing?
“One of my strong points is that, no matter what anyone says about me, it will not affect me,” Jones said. “It’s because I believe in my ability and what I can achieve.

“I know I am good enough to be here, otherwise the manager wouldn’t have paid the money he spent to bring me to the club.
“It doesn’t matter what anyone tells me, I know that I can rely on myself. It comes from my parents. They are the same strong-minded people as I am and I just don’t let anyone bring me down.

“I want to be a successful player. I want to be remembered one day as a
great player, good athlete, good professional. I don’t want to be a player that people don’t remember, but I have to work ------ hard for that. I have to do some grafting, but it is something I am willing to do.”
Jones’s emergence appears to have set the clock ticking on Ferdinand’s career with both United and England.

The 32 year-old’s injuries have handed his younger rival an opportunity which Jones has grasped at Old Trafford, while Fabio Capello believes Jones and Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere can provide the bedrock of England’s team for the next decade.

For now, however, Jones must settle for under-21 duty while he waits for his senior debut.
A call-up into Stuart Pearce’s squad for this month’s Euro 2013 qualifiers against Iceland and Norway suggests he will miss out on a call-up for the Euro 2012 decider against Montenegro next Friday.
Despite an admission that a place in Capello’s Euro 2012 squad is a target, Jones insists he is not aggrieved by his continuing presence in the under-21 picture.

He said: “The under-21s is still a big thing because it is a massive honour to represent your country at any level. The under-21s are no different. The lads and the coaching staff are great and I am still learning. Any international football is a learning experience.

“Euro 2012 would be great, but I have to keep performing well for United if that is to happen.
“I was in with the seniors for the last game, against Wales, and that was a brilliant experience.
“Once you get a taste you want more and I want to be pushing for senior recognition. Just because I am 19 doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t be challenging for a place in the England squad.
“If I keep doing well and my performances are showing that, then I don’t see why not.”
------------------------------------------------------------
[B]How does Jones compare with Edwards?
Phil Jones has earned comparisons to Manchester United icon Duncan Edwards during his brief time at Old Trafford, but why is the 19 year-old being bracketed alongside one of the greats of the Busby Babes?

What are the similarities?
Edwards was equally adept at playing in defence or midfield and his powerful physique belied his age, even as a teenager. Jones, having made his Blackburn debut as a 17 year-old, is bestowed with similar physical attributes.

How good was Edwards?
Sir Bobby Charlton has described Edwards as the best player he ever played with or against, a born leader who could, according to Charlton, score goals, defend, tackle and head the ball better than any of his contemporaries. Stanley Matthews described Edwards as being “like a rock in a raging sea”.

What had Edwards achieved before being killed at Munich?
Edwards was 21 when he died due to injuries suffered at Munich. By that age, he had been capped 18 times by England and had won two league titles at United having made 177 appearances for the club.

Phil Jones Lihat Tanda-tanda United Bakal Juara
Doni Wahyudi - detiksport

'Phil Jones Kapten Masa Depan Inggris'
Meylan Fredy Ismawan - detiksport

London - Phil Jones memang belum sekali pun membela timnas senior Inggris. Namun, dia diyakini punya peluang besar untuk jadi kapten The Three Lions pada masa depan.

Penampilan apik Jones mulai menarik perhatian pelatih timnas senior, Fabio Capello.

Capello: Phil Jones Dilahirkan Untuk Bermain Bola

Jones baru saja melakoni laga debutnya bersama skuad The Three Lions ketika menghadapi Montenegro yang berakhir dengan skor imbang 2-2.

"Pertandingan berikutnya akansangat menarik. Kami akan mempersiapkan beberapa pemain dan mungkin saja Phil Jones akan bermain di jantung pertahanan." (mir/mac)

Man United Star Announces Shock Retirement

Phil Jones today announced his retirement from international duty in order to concentrate on his Manchester United career.

The 21 year old, who made his debut for the National side versus Montenegro last night, said the time was right to quit the England set up and promised to reveal all in his new book entitled ‘If Wayne Bridge can’t be bothered why should I?”

“All of the former United players told me that ending their England career was the best feeling ever so I was desperate to experience it for myself” said Jones.

“I felt so much pride during the national anthems knowing that I’d served my time in an England shirt and could now quit and concentrate on the important stuff like Champions League and United training sessions.”

Old Trafford legends Paul Scholes and Gary Neville have supported the move and even Bobby Charlton defended the decision saying that he regained a full head of hair on ending his own international career.

The move is sure to be a setback for England who are also facing the loss of Wayne Rooney, who opted for a rolling suspension rather than permanent retirement, but manager Fabio Capello says that he understands the player’s decision.

Speaking through an interpreter the Italian said that Jones would be remembered as one England’s ‘top performers’ and would be welcome back at any time.

Bagi United tentunya memberikan keuntungan jangka panjang, hehehe ...

Jones Terus Beri Keuntungan Finansial Untuk Blackburn

(spo/zul)

From schoolboy to Manchester United and England: The rise & rise of Phil Jones
DailyMail, John Edwards and Ian Ladyman - 14th October 2011

Phil Jones's rise from Ribble Wanderers Under 10s to Manchester United's first team has been nothing short of meteoric. Three years ago, he was posing for a school photograph. Now, three months after Sir Alex Ferguson paid £16.5million for him, Jones has played in the Champions League and made his England debut.

Here, John Edwards and Ian Ladyman chart Jones's journey to the top by talking to those who helped deliver England's own 'Big Phil'.

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/10/13/article-2048846-0D9C5AB300000578-116_468x491.jpg
Fast track: Jones has impressed during his debut season at Old Trafford

DANNY HINDLEY
Ribble Wanderers Juniors

Phil just turned up one day with his mum and dad and asked if he could play. Believe it or not, he had been to another club but couldn't get a game!

He played up front or on the right and scored a stack of goals. Looking back, a few of us at the club are surprised Phil was the only one from that side who went on to pro. It was some team. They were in the top league and won it most seasons and they reached the final of the Lancashire FA Cup.

Word got round and we soon had scouts from League clubs turning up for virtually all our games. They would come over and introduce themselves, because they had to ask permission to speak to any of the boys.

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/10/13/article-2048846-0E5CBDC100000578-990_468x286.jpg
Old school: Jones (circled) has come a long way since joining Ribble United in 1999

I always thought Phil was exceptional in the air and he gained such a reputation that visiting teams would stick two defenders on him at set-pieces. When I watch him on TV now and see him bring the ball out of defence, I can see it comes from the skill he had as a forward in those days.

I have spoken to him a few times since and my brother Tom, who played in the same team, keeps in touch via Facebook.* As a club, we are incredibly proud to think he started out with us and has gone on to such great things.

The only time we have won the Lancashire Schools Cup in my time here was with Phil in the team, so I'm grateful to him for that. The thing I remember most about him was his diligence.

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/10/13/article-0-0DAA1A5000000578-763_224x423.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/10/13/article-0-0DAA191C00000578-89_224x423.jpg
Rising star: Jones (fourth from right) impressed with his school team

He would work and work at whatever he did - and that was apparent on the football field. He didn't particularly stand out, funnily enough. You didn't watch him in a game and think, 'Gosh, he's going to play for Manchester United one day'. But I think that was down to his team ethic, rather than any lack of ability.

Unlike some boys of his age, he did not automatically assume that the ball arriving at his feet was a cue for showing how many tricks he could perform. His first thought was how he could best use it for the good of the team and so he would help it along to where it was needed most, usually to a team-mate in space.

Don't forget, though, Blackburn invited him to their school of excellence when he was only eight. We used to give him Thursdays off to attend, so it was clear he had something to offer.

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/10/13/article-2048846-0E486D7600000578-524_468x339.jpg

Your country needs you: Jones made his England debut in Montenegro on Friday

You could tell what Phil was like from* his final school report. It referred to his excellence at food technology and all sports. I wonder how many Premier League footballers excelled at food technology? But that just illustrates his attitude towards any subject he tackled. He would not settle for second best at anything.

GARY BOWYER
Former academy coach, now reserves coach at Blackburn

Phil arrived at the academy as a goalscoring outside right after being spotted in a local kids' cup final. We moved him to central midfield, then to centre half - and that's where he began to make his mark for the Under 16s and 18s.

I've heard people say he didn't necessarily look head and shoulders above everyone else and I can see what they mean. He did really well in his first year after being taken on full time, but not quite so well in a couple of games after that.

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/10/13/article-2048846-0BD665C7000005DC-232_468x360.jpg
Thrown in at the deep end: Jones made his Blackburn debut against Chelsea

In fact, we left him out after a couple of mistakes in a youth team game at Nottingham Forest. There was a stray back pass that went straight to one of their players and he was out of position for another of their goals. It's a measure of his determination to put things right, though, that he was making his first-team debut in the Carling Cup within a year.

He was always very comfortable in possession but also very motivated, as demonstrated by his League debut against Chelsea at Ewood Park. I remember him ploughing through a 50-50 challenge with Didier Drogba, then going straight into another with Frank Lampard. Drogba is an imposing figure, but that didn't stop Jonesey. He came through both tackles with the ball and just stood there, clenching his fist. What a moment! It nearly lifted the roof off, the reaction it got from the crowd.

He has a real passion for playing, and when I spoke to him the other week about how it was going at United, he sounded like a kid in a candy shop. He'd be kicking a ball about with his mates in the park if he wasn't doing it for a living.

I use him as a source of inspiration for kids arriving at our academy now. I point to Phil and say, 'That's what you can achieve if you set your mind to it.'

SAM ALLARDYCE
Former Blackburn manager

I had a nickname for him when he first came through. I called him John Terry. He had all those qualities that Terry has, even at a young age: commitment, desire, courage... all those things. He was also a very good footballer.

It's a huge bonus when you come into a club like I did and you find someone like that waiting for you. I first noticed him when he used to come up with some of the other academy players and play in training games against our first team.*

Players like him and Junior Hoilett would come up from time to time. Actually, a lad called Keith Treacey was the one who stood out most in terms of talent. He is now at Burnley. I noticed Joner, too, of course. It would be impossible not to. He eventually made his debut in a League Cup game at Nottingham Forest and he did well. And then I played him, because of injuries, in a League game against Chelsea. It was some ask, facing Didier Drogba at his peak, but he came through and I thought he was man of the match. That says everything about him.

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/10/13/article-2048846-0E43783D00000578-721_468x333.jpg

Centre of attention: Jones (centre) flanked by Rooney and Lamapard

Some players drown when they get their opportunities and some don't. Phil didn't. In this game - and at that age - it's as much about mental toughness and adaptability and courage as it is about technical ability. Phil scores highly on all of it. *

We basically gave him a challenge and he met it straight away and was essentially ready for the next one immediately. He seems to have done that at United, too.

It was a huge ask for him to go to Old Trafford and slot in but he has done it. He is incredible. I notice that Alex has him playing at centre half and I think that will prove to be his position over the years.

We played him in centre midfield at Blackburn for a time as we had Chris Samba and Ryan Nelsen, who were such a reliable central defensive pairing for us.

I think Alex was on to him from early on. He used to come over to watch Mame Biram Diouf quite a lot. He was on loan to us from United. It was obvious he would notice Phil. When a player is that good, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to notice.

That is why, as time went on, we had Man United, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool all after him. That says everything about him.

What his current standing as a United player shows is that he is a very gifted footballer. It also shows what can happen if we allow our young footballers to develop and come through in this country. We don't do that. We don't learn our lesson. Managers feel rushed and buy instead. It's a shame as the talent in our game is there. Phil Jones proves that.

JASON ROBERTS
Blackburn striker

I remember when he first started training with us, he did ok, but I didn't see anything straightaway to suggest he was going to be special. To be honest, I was a bit surprised when he was picked for the first time against Chelsea. But I've never seen a debut like it. He was fantastic.

What he showed that day, and has repeatedly proved since, is that you can throw him in at any level and he will raise himself to meet the challenge. In fact, he will make it look easy.

He took everything in his stride that day and looked as though he'd been in the side 10 years. Nothing ever seemed to get to him. In fact, the bigger the stage, the better he played, and that's why he is so suited to Manchester United and has already made his mark there.

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/10/13/article-2048846-0B72136E000005DC-540_306x399.jpg
Taking his chance: Jones impressed from the outset

It's a quality he has that reminds me of Wayne Rooney. You could see on day one at Old Trafford that Rooney wasn't the least bit fazed by a £30million price tag. He belonged there, and Phil is the same.

He was always fairly quiet in the dressing room, but you need a bit of arrogance to be a top player, and he did not lack confidence. We didn't get a proper chance to say goodbye when United came in for him. You couldn't see his car for dust, for one thing! There have been a few text messages flying around since, but we're all looking forward to seeing him next time we play United.

SIR ALEX FERGUSON Manchester United manager

He played against our youth team about two-and-a-half years ago, when he was only 16, and he was immense. The next day I phoned Sam Allardyce to ask about him and he just laughed at me and said, "No way, he's in my first team on Saturday". We monitored him from that day on.

We beat Blackburn 7-1 last season but after the fifth goal he was running out and giving everyone around him stick - and he was only 18 then. I was very impressed. He was just one that we couldn't miss.

He's definitely got all the parts to his game, there is no doubt about that. He has got the desire to play and he's a good trainer, with a great determination about him.

Phil's a marvellous young lad. He's only 19 and has great enthusiasm. He's quick, can pass and has a fantastic will to win. He's been sensational since he came to us.

Charlie Adam's involvement in Liverpool's goal during Saturday's 1-1 draw prompted so much anger among Sir Alex Ferguson's players that Manchester United had to censor a television interview with Phil Jones.

Jones accused the Scottish midfielder of deliberately diving to win the free-kick from which Steven Gerrard scored. The former Blackburn Rovers player did not hold back in his criticisms and MUTV, United's in-house television channel, took instructions from senior Old Trafford officials before deciding Jones's comments were too inflammatory to be shown.

Although Rio Ferdinand admitted he had made "the slightest contact" on Adam, United were incensed about the way the player went to ground, believing it to be a deliberate attempt to dupe the referee, Andre Marriner.

Ferguson, who later accused Luis Suárez of "diving all over the place", described it as "a very soft award", but Jones went even further with his own criticisms, telling MUTV that Adams had been guilty of a blatant dive.

However, MUTV, who infamously once pulled a show involving Roy Keane because he had been so outspoken against his own team-mates, had edited out the relevant section when Jones's interview was shown on Saturday night.

Adam, informed of United's complaints, denied he had made the most of the challenge. "Well, everyone has an opinion," the former Blackpool player said. "I felt a touch and if I hadn't gone down I would have been clear through on goal so there must have been contact. That's the way I look at it. I felt contact when I went past Rio and that's the way it goes."

He added: "I'm not that type of player. I'm not just going to go down easily. It was a foul and that is why the referee gave it."

Ferdinand had already been booked and was fortunate once the free-kick was awarded that Marriner did not show a second yellow card. The defender said: "There was the slightest contact but I don't think enough to make a fella who is 12, 13 stone fall on the floor like that, but that's the way the game is today."

Phil Jones keeps cool ahead of white-hot Old Trafford clash

http://m.gmgrd.co.uk/res/779.$plit/C_71_article_1462673_image_list_image_list_item_0_ image.jpg?22%2F10%2F2011%2014%3A01%3A23%3A900

Phil Jones plans to use his Lancashire derby experience to guide him through the Manchester City clash on Sunday.

Tussles between Blackburn and Burnley are the only real experience Jones has of a derby atmosphere.

The spite and venom on show in those contests came as a shock to the Premier League.

Yet even Chorley-born Jones feels that intensity will be surpassed at Old Trafford, as Manchester United entertain City looking for a win that would take them back to the top of the table.

"I played for Blackburn against Burnley and that was pretty hostile, although I would imagine this tops that one," said the 19-year-old.

"The atmosphere doesn't bother me too much. We've been away in the Champions League and played in hostile atmospheres.

"This is obviously going to be massive for both clubs. It means a lot to the fans. Hopefully we can get one over on them and make our supporters happy."

This particular meeting is given added spice by the fact the two Manchester clubs currently lie first and second in the table.

Chelsea will fancy their chances of gate-crashing the Mancunian party given their excellent recent form.

However, there is a sense within the United camp that City offer the greatest threat to their status as champions given the vast amounts of money Roberto Mancini has been able to spend in amassing possibly the strongest squad in Europe.

"They've had a lot of money to spend and have brought some quality players in," said Jones.

"But we are just treating it as another game.

"All the papers are hyping it up. That's natural - it's a derby.

"But we can't afford to look at it like that. It's far too early in the season to start ruling out teams and trying to decide who's going to win the league.

"However, it would be a good confidence booster and if we concentrate on what we're good at I am sure we'll get the three points."

With almost all his first-team squad available - full-back Rafael is still recovering from a dislocated shoulder but even midfielder Tom Cleverley was able to take some part in training yesterday after injuring his foot at Bolton seven weeks ago - Sir Alex Ferguson has a few selection dilemmas.

In attack, Danny Welbeck has been amongst the most incisive United players in recent weeks but his inclusion would come at the expense of Javier Hernandez, whose predatory instincts are among the best in the league.

Nani has been Ferguson's biggest danger out wide, but he looks far better on the right rather than the left, where Ashley Young's form has dipped after an impressive start to his Old Trafford career.

Darren Fletcher, Anderson and Michael Carrick would all hope to secure a central midfield berth, whilst at the back, skipper Nemanja Vidic and long-time partner Rio Ferdinand have all the experience Jones, Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling lack.

"Nobody knows what the team is going to be," said Jones.

"If the manager picks me it would be a great pat on the back.

"I always believed in my ability. If I didn't I wouldn't be here now."

Jones' talent has not escaped the attention of Fabio Capello, who handed the teenager his first senior cap in Montenegro recently.

"I don't think I've surprised myself," reflected Jones.

"I am surprised how quickly I've managed to play a certain amount of games.

"I am delighted with that. I'm just enjoying every minute.

"But I am also pleased we've got everyone back fit again. We are all fighting to play which is very healthy for the squad."

Jujur!!! Pertama kali melihat jones mengingat kan akan seorang john terry, cara dia bergerak ato saat menguasai bola!! Tp stelah mngikuti perkembangannya trnyata dia lebih dr yg aku bayangin, dia sangat cepat, dia jg bagus saat d posisikan d back sayap. dia sangat bagus dlm membaca permainan lawan, sering ikut membantu menyerang,
Trbukti sir alex sempat memposisikan dia d tengah..

Phil Jones Layangkan Pujian Kepada Vidic

(mutv/mac)

Jones Tak Menyesal Pernah Kalah 6-1

"Saya benar-benar yakin ia memiliki masa depan cerah.

Bola.net - Pelatih timnas Inggris Fabio Capello menilai bek muda The Three Lions Phil Jones punya potensi sebagai pemain hebat seperti Franco Baresi atau Fernando Hierro.

Jones Impikan Jadi Kapten Timnas Inggris

Bola.net - Bek Manchester United Phil Jones bercita-cita untuk kelak bisa menjadi kapten timnas Inggris.

Menurut Jones, menjadi kapten The Three Lions merupakan puncak karir untuk setiap pemain Inggris, tak terkecuali dirinya.

(sky/zul)

Jones: I Used To Hate United’s Last Minute Goals

Speaking to the official site, Phil Jones has revealed that his favourite moment at United was our win against City in the Community Shield.

United went in 2-0 down at half time but came back to win 3-2, with Nani scoring the winner in the fourth minute of injury time.

Jones has revealed that before he joined the club, he used to hate it that United always scored last minute goals, but now he loves it.

“My favourite moment was probably winning the Community Shield,” he said. “I’d never won a competitive trophy before. That was really nice and probably my favourite moment so far. I’ve had a lot of good moments so far but that was probably the best one. I thought to myself at Wembley: ‘I’ve been here two minutes and I’ve already got a trophy.’ I used to think, ‘I can’t stand that club when they always score in the last minute.’ But now I love it. I’m not complaining one bit.”

The new Franco Baresi... Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson backs Phil Jones plaudits

http://m.gmgrd.co.uk/res/602.$plit/C_71_article_1465648_image_list_image_list_item_0_ image.jpg?18%2F11%2F2011%2016%3A14%3A40%3A848

Sir Alex Ferguson has backed up Fabio Capello's claim that Phil Jones reminds him of legendary Italian Franco Baresi.

The Manchester United manager snapped Jones up from Blackburn in the summer for £17million.

It seemed a lot to pay for a 19-year-old but if anything, Jones' performances since suggest United got a bargain.

Capello is among those who have been impressed.

Having handed Jones his international debut in the right-back role in Montenegro last month, the England coach shoved him into midfield for the recent encounters with Spain and Sweden.

Although Jones did not look entirely comfortable in the first of those games, where he occupied an advanced position, in the holding role against Sweden, he was superb.

It prompted Capello to liken the Preston-born youngster to Baresi, which Ferguson does not feel is that far wide of the mark.

"Since he has joined us, his improvement has been really eye-catching," said the United boss.

"We know he is 19. We know it is a big step up coming from Blackburn to Manchester United. But the boy has been absolutely fantastic.

"He can play anywhere, I am sure of that.

"He is versatile. He is two-footed. He is quick. He has good perception of the game.

"I am not surprised what Fabio is saying.

"He can be a really influential player for us and England over the next few years."

The question for Ferguson is whether, after such a hectic period, he should pick Jones again when United make their first trip to Swansea in almost 30 years on Saturday.

Even with Tom Cleverley ruled out until Christmas after suffering a recurrence of the ankle ligament strain he originally picked up at Everton last month, Ferguson feels United have sufficient central midfield options.

Darren Fletcher, Anderson and the returning Michael Carrick are all available, whilst Ryan Giggs and Park Ji-sung are capable of operating in that area of the pitch in addition to Wayne Rooney, who helped out in a couple of games prior to the international break.

Certainly, Ferguson does not view it as an area of concern like some United fans.

"I have options. I am not over-worried about it," he said.

Jones not dwelling on own-goal
skysports November 23, 2011 6:44pm

http://img.skysports.com/11/11/660x350/jonescrop_2682137.jpg

Manchester United youngster Phil Jones refuses to dwell on the own-goal that hindered his side's progress in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.

Exactly a week after being compared to legendary Italian defender Franco Baresi by England boss Fabio Capello, Jones suffered the harsher side of footballing life at Old Trafford as he turned Nicolas Gaitan's cross into his own net just three minutes into the 2-2 draw with Benfica.

Although United recovered to take the lead, ultimately they had to settle for a point that leaves them needing to avoid defeat against Basel next month to reach the knockout phase, where they would almost certainly be condemned to a second seeding and a meeting with another European heavyweight.

But 19-year-old Jones is not beating himself up over the error.

"It happens," he said. "Own goals happen to the best of players. It is just one of those situations where the ball ends up in the back of the net.

"What can you do? There is nothing more to say. It is an unfortunate reaction and the ball has ended up in the back of the net.

"I am not going to let my head drop. You win some, you lose some and then you get on with it. Apart from that I thought I played reasonably well."

Jones insists he will not be distracted by the praise being heaped on him by Capello and others after an impressive start to life at Old Trafford.

"Listen, it is nice being compared to people like that (Duncan Edwards, Franco Baresi) but I have to keep my head down and put in performances I know I am capable of," he said.

"Hopefully, if I keep playing well for Manchester United and we pick up points to get to the top of the table, I can keep getting into the England squad."

The teenager refuses to be daunted by the prospect of taking on European heavyweights such as Barcelona and Real Madrid if United do make the last 16.

Another game

"If we have to play Barcelona or Real Madrid we have to play them," he said. "It is another game, that's all.

"Yes, they are two fantastic teams in the Champions League and have absolutely world class players.

"But they are only human. I am sure we can turn up and give them a game."

Phil Jones: Gol Bunuh Diri Itu Biasa

http://klimg.com/bola.net/library/p/headline/0000061231.jpg

"Itu akhirnya terjadi," kata Jones said.

(tt/mxm)

Jones: City Akan Hadapi Masa Sulit
Tjatur Wiharyo

Menurut Jones, MU berpeluang memangkas selisih.

Jangan remehkan kami, jika kami tak menguasai klasemen sampai Januari," tambahnya.

Dalam enam pertandingan terdekat, MU akan menghadapi Newcastle, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, FC Basel, Wolverhamton Wanderers, dan Queens Park Rangers.

Disebut The Next Baresi, Jones Tak Mau Besar Kepala

(tt/zul)

Jones explains goal celebration

03/12/2011 20:34, Report by Adam Marshall

Phil Jones insisted the triumph at Aston Villa wasn't all about his winner but admits he enjoyed ribbing coach Rene Meulensteen about the strike, his first in senior football.

The youngster played in midfield before Rio Ferdinand was replaced in the second half and got on the end of a Nani cross to show great composure in front of goal with 20 minutes gone.

After admitting during a recent ManUtd.com webchat that he wasn't sure how he'd celebrate, he decided to point to the bench after receiving some light-hearted stick from Meulensteen.

"I'm delighted to score but it wasn't about the goal," he stressed to MUTV. "It was about three points and I thought the lads did exceptionally well. We knew it was going to be a hard-fought game as Villa are a tough team to beat at home but we played terrifically well.

"After last week, when I stuck one in the back of my own net, I was delighted to score and get off the mark. I signalled to Rene as he was giving me a bit of stick for not scoring. It's just a coincidence that I scored today so I gave him a point of the finger!"

Sir Alex also had a chuckle about the celebrating, explaining: "We keep winding him up and keep saying: 'We paid £16million for you and we can't even get a shot off you!'. The staff have been giving him stick so he was very, very pleased."

Jones, meanwhile, was satisfied with the performance and another clean sheet ahead of the important trip to Basel in midweek."We probably should have killed the game off," he added. "We had chances in the first half and second half but we're happy with the clean sheet and the performance.

"I suppose it is in the back of your mind [that City had already won and extended the lead at the top to eight points]. But we're focused on what we've got to do and, when we cross that white line, we're only in control of what we can control. The gaffer said we'll take ten 1-0 wins if we win the league so that's what we're doing."

Jones: Yang Penting Bukan Golnya
Rossi Finza Noor - detiksport

http://images.detik.com/content/2011/12/04/72/PhilJ0nes-isi.jpg

Great Article on Phil Jones' versatility.:)

Phil Jones: Versatility at its best

http://1-ps.googleusercontent.com/h/www.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/156725hp2.jpg.pagespeed.ce.hJgSXtriTd.jpg

A player younger than you and me manning the barricades for one of the most high profile football clubs in the world, Phil Jones continues his fairy-tale run of establishing himself in the world of football. A centre back who can play on the right and in midfield, now that is something you don’t get to see very often. Being touted as the next John Terry and having already drawn comparisons to the legendary Duncan Edwards, Jones has a lot to live up to and he seems to be relishing the prospect of living up to it.

Defensively solid coupled with some breath-taking attacking runs makes him a player to watch out for all the time. United have finally found their ideal replacement for Owen Hargreaves in this prodigious young lad. Debates have already sprung up regarding his position in the team. Tall and well built, Phil Jones seems apt for the center back role but his pace makes him even more dangerous and this makes him an even more lethal right back. At the right back position, his performance against Bolton Wanderers early this season was truly world class where his marauding runs caused mayhem in the Bolton camp.

Again a solid performance against Chelsea enhanced his reputation although there were a few lapses in the defence where Torres managed to get the better of him and score a goal but still his performance was noteworthy. Again against Stoke city he allowed Crouch to get the better of him in the air and head home. Of course no player is perfect and this lad has a lot to learn. He has some great players to mentor him and under the watchful eyes of Sir Alex, a lot can be expected from his youngster.

Fabio Capello did employ him in the midfield during England’s game against Spain where his performance was not that great but lets face it playing against the likes of Xavi and Iniesta is a nightmare for any player and this guy is just 19! However Jones’s performance yesterday against Aston Villa brings back the debate as the goal he scored was just brilliant! His distribution of play was tremendous too. Is he a center back or is he a right back or is he a midfielder? England’s future does look bright with the fresh breed of talent emerging. The goal had always been coming. Congratulations Jones!

The Many Faces of Phil Jones: Top Ten

http://redarmy.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/phil-jones-2.jpg

#10) A A Achooo!
http://redarmy.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/z-jones-sneeze.jpg

At first glance it looks like he is having a reaction to the England team’s washing powder. There are also rumours that he was trying to fake illness to get out of England duty as he admitted that he was as allergic to the International break as the rest of us. Whatever the reason, this face is just one in a long line of humorous faces that our new hero Phil Jones’ pulls whilst he is showcasing his talents on a football pitch, and it’s also our first entry into his top ten.

#9) Stick ‘em up
http://redarmy.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/phil-jones-gun.jpg

During his first training session with Manchester United, part of his initiation process was to shoot a mouse. Unfortunately, he thought his team mates said shoot a scouse. To the pleasure of the RSPCA all mice in the suburbs of Manchester are believed to be unharmed, however Steven Gerrard’s injury still remains a mystery. Phil Jones has since proven his shooting ability when he hit the target for Manchester United against Aston Villa.

#8)WTF?

http://redarmy.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/phil-jones-13.jpg

Phil Jones’ look of astonishment mirrored 77,000 people at Old Trafford and 100 million people watching on television around the world. It was twenty minutes to six on a warm Sunday afternoon, Fernando Torres rounded David De Gea at the Stretford End and… the whole footballing world looked like this. To be fair to Phil Jones though, he invented this face first.

#7) Peek-a-boo

http://redarmy.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/jones-91.jpg

Being a Manchester United regular and an England International, It’s easy to forget that Phil is still only nineteen. For all his talents he apparently still has the short attention span of a young boy, and during breaks in play the rest of the team have to keep him occupied by playing games. During this game of hide and seek, Phil Jones showed that he is better at finding space on the pitch than he is at finding good hiding places. Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt and say he is mopping his brow.

#6) We need to go back

http://redarmy.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/phil-jones-12.jpg

Footballers are human just like the rest of us, and like ourselves they are not immune to life’s horrifying moments. This is Phil Jones’ reaction at the very point he couldn’t remember whether he locked his front door or not. Funnily enough it was also the same expression he pulled when he scored his own goal against Benfica. Either way, we feel your pain Phil.

#5) The Mad Scientist.

http://redarmy.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/phil-jones-11.jpg

If someone was to invent the perfect footballer, then Phil Jones would be the ideal prototype. In a bizarre coincidence, the inventor of Phil Jones looked exactly like the footballer. This is the mad scientist’s ‘HE’S ALIVE’ moment when he finally brought Jones to life. Alternatively the real Phil Jones was having a bad hair day. You decide.

#4) 20,000 empty seats…

http://redarmy.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/z-phil-Jones.jpg

“…are you f***ing sure” sings Phil Jones whilst pointing to the empty sections at Wembley Stadium. Jones shows of his singing skills whilst conducting the rest of the United team in their rendition of “the city is yours”. He may also be discussing tactics, it’s hard to tell, but another classic picture all the same.

#3) Simon Says…touch your head

http://redarmy.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/jones-8.jpg

They say defensive partnerships are supposed to be telepathic and this is a picture of Phil Jones trying to read the mind of Nemanja Vidic. It could also be the daily game of ‘Vidic says’ when all the Manchester United players copy what the big Serbian does. Both very likely…but whatever the reason it seems to be working as his performances at the back have shown that he is definitely on the same wavelength as the rest of the back four.

#2) LOL

http://redarmy.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/phil-jones-3.jpg

Phil Jones shows a lot of composure on the pitch for someone that is still only nineteen, however during an England training session, Jones’ nerves turned to laughter before the match against Spain after he found out he would be marking Fernanado Torres. This is allegedly what happened, maybe he’s just a generally happy person, either way Phil Jones’ ‘LOL’ face makes the number two spot.

#1) Was it something I said?
http://redarmy.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/phil-jones-2.jpg

We only had nine pictures of Jones so we went to visit him to get a tenth. We showed him the article, and its hard to see from here but he had a pitch fork in one hand and a torch in the other. As he chased us out of Carrington I managed to turn back and snap our tenth picture of him, which as it happens earns the title as the number one face of Phil Jones. Of course that didn’t happen, but this face is one of the many dedicated expressions our new hero pulls on a football pitch when he puts on the red shirt of Manchester United, and for that we salute you Phil Jones, the man who’s multiple talents on the pitch are almost matched by his multiple faces.
