Cleverley out for four weeks with ligament damage

Manchester United revealed on Sunday that Tom Cleverley has not suffered a fracture to his foot, but he will miss the next month of the Premier League season with ligament damage.

Cleverley had to be substituted during United's 5-0 thrashing of Bolton, and Sir Alex Ferguson instantly confessed he feared a broken bone for the young midfielder.

However, scans have confirmed ligament damage, meaning Cleverley is unlikely to feature again until mid-October.

A statement on the club's official website said: "Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Tom Cleverley will spend the next four weeks on the sidelines after limping out of United's win at Bolton on Saturday.

"It was feared the midfielder, who has started the campaign in fine form, had broken a bone in his foot after feeling the full force of a Kevin Davies tackle just before Javier Hernandez's opener at the Reebok. But the boss told ManUtd.com on Sunday that Cleverley has suffered ligament damage to his foot rather than a fracture."

MANCHESTER - Manchester United dipastikan tidak akan memainkan Tom Cleverley, saat melawan Benfica, Rabu besok. Cedera yang dialami gelandang muda itu, membuat Michael Carrick kecewa berat.

Seperti diketahui, pelatih Sir Alex Ferguson memang membuat banyak kejutan pada skuad setan Merah tahun ini. Salah satunya, dengan memainkan pemain muda dari akademi Old Trafford. Hasilnya cukup memuaskan. Wayne Rooney dkk mencatat empat kemenangan beruntun.

Rabu besok, United akan menyambangi markas Benfica di Portugal, untuk melakoni pertandingan perdana Liga Champions Grup C. Sayang, Ferguson tidak dapat menurunkan Tom Cleverley, yang mengalami cedera saat melawan Bolton Wanderers.

Gelandang muda Timnas Inggris itu harus absen selama satu bulan. Praktis, cedera yang dialami Cleverley tentu mengecewakan Carrick. "Pemain muda yang cedera itu sedang dalam performa terbaik," ujar Carrick dikutip Tribalfootball, Selasa (13/9/2011).

Selama empat pertandingan, Carrick memang harus puas melihat rekan-rekan mudanya bertarung membela bendera United. "Sangat senang melihat pemain muda bagaikan ledakan. Tambahan skuad ini sangat fantastis," lanjutnya.

"Kehadiran para pemain muda membuat skuad menjadi penuh antusias dan energi. Itu sudah terlihat di lapangan. Jadi, cedera yang dialami Cleverley memang cukup mengecewakan," tandas mantan gelandang Tottenham Hotspur itu.

MANCHESTER, KOMPAS.com - Gelandang Manchester United (MU), Tom Cleverley, mengalami cedera pada ligamen kaki dan akan menjalani proses pemulihan selama sepekan. Demikian informasi dari situs resmi MU.

Cleverley mengalami cedera itu setelah ditekel penyerang Bolton Wanderers, Kevin Davies, pada laga Premier League, Sabtu (10/9/2011). Ferguson sempat khawatir, ada bagian yang patah. Menurut Ferguson, jika sampai begitu, Cleverley akan absen selama tiga bulan.

Selain itu, Ferguson mengatakan bek Jonny Evans dan Patrice Evra juga mendapat cedera pada laga tersebut dan belum tentu tampil pada laga Liga Champions melawan Benfica, di Estadio da Luz, Rabu (14/9/2011).

"Kami akan melihat kondisi mereka pada hari Minggu. Jonny diragukan bermain pada laga hari Rabu. Ia mengalami cedera pada pinggul di babak kedua, yang cukup menyakitkan. Patrice mengalami cedera pada tempurung lutut. Kami akan melihat kondisi mereka pada hari Minggu. Terlalu dini mengatakan (seberapa serius cedera mereka)," ujar Ferguson.

Apes benar Cleverley. Di saat kariernya sedang meroket, cedera menghampiri. Ia meninggalkan Reebok Stadium ketika pertandingan kontra Bolton Wanderers berjalan sekitar setengah jam akibat tekel keras dari skipper lawan, Kevin Davies.

Pemain berusia 22 tahun itu baru saja mendapatkan pengakuan berharga dipanggil ke Timnas Inggris. Tetapi, cedera datang dan diduga bisa mengakibatnya harus absen sekitar tiga bulan. Ironisnya, masalah di metatarsal merupakan cedera kambuhan.

Meski timnya menang telak 5-0, Ferguson menyesali cedera yang membuat Cleverley jalan tertatih-tatih meninggalkan lapangan menggunakan pembungkus kaki. “Kami perkirakan tulang di telapak kakinya ada yang patah. Sungguh disesalkan tetapi itu perkiraan kami. Tekel tersebut (dari Davies) sungguh buruk,” sembur Ferguson.

Davies tidak mendapatkan teguran dari wasit akibat tekel ke Cleverley, tetapi kemudian dia mendapatkan kartu kuning setelah melanggar Patrice Evra. Itulah kartu kuning ke-100 buat Davies selama berkecimpung di Liga Premier.

Ferguson juga akan memeriksa kondisi Evra yang mendapat nyeri di lutut, namun mampu mengakhiri laga secara penuh. Kebugaran Evra akan dievaluasi sebelum menentukan skuat untuk pertandingan Liga Chmpions dimana MU akan bertanding melawan Benfica di Lisbon, Rabu (14/9). Coyle defends Davies challenge

The incident occurred during last weekend's clash at the Reebok Stadium, when the Trotters were beaten 5-0 by Sir Alex Ferguson's men.

Davies, who was not booked for the tackle, has found himself the subject of fury from United fans this week after he left Cleverley facing a spell on the sidelines.

Coyle insists there was no malice in the challenge and suggests Davies is only receiving such severe backlash because the foul was against the Premier League champions.

Manchester United's Darren Fletcher still perplexed by mystery virus

Scot relieved to be back to fitness following six month battle with illness and now has to fight new United youngsters for place in Sir Alex Ferguson's starting line-up.

Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher is still perplexed about the virus which kept him out for the tail end of last season.

The Scot missed six months of action, including part of United’s pre-season tour to recover from the illness which he started suffering from in March.

However Fletcher is now confident it’s all behind him now and he is happy to be back to full fitness.

He told PA: "It has all been resolved now but I never got to the bottom of it.

"I felt drained and weak and was bed-bound for a bit.

"But the biggest thing was losing the weight.

"The virus was bad but for someone like me to lose the weight I did, it was really difficult to put back on.

"It took me a good few months to get back to my natural weight. Eventually I got there though and I feel stronger for it now.

"I have even put on a little bit more, which will be beneficial for me as well."

The 27-year-old made his comeback in the last game of the season but Sir Alex Ferguson was not convinced of his fitness as he continued to look underweight.

As a result, Fletcher missed the chance to play in the Champions League final for the third time in his career.

He said: “Filling the space in between has not been easy.

"I felt fine in the Blackpool game but I needed a lot of meal replacement drinks and protein, in addition to my normal diet.

"I did a lot of work in the weights room as well.

"I always stayed positive. With the manager, doctor and physios I knew I was in good hands.

"I was always confident I would be back."

In the summer speculation loomed about United swooping for a midfielder which would have had repercussions for Fletcher’s place in the team.

Wesley Sneijder and Luka Modric were both linked with a move to Old Trafford, however it was youngster Tom Cleverley who has risen through the ranks to threaten the Scot's starting place.

The midfielder thinks he will have tough job getting his position back after the strong start to the season made by the Red Devils starlet and other youngsters, which he believes can only be good for the club.

"The young lads have been fantastic," said Fletcher.

"They have gained experience at different clubs so it is not as if they are new to Premier League football, but they have been like a breath of fresh air.

"The results speak for themselves. Long may it continue.

"It is going to be difficult for me to get back in the team.

"That is the challenge in front of me. I am looking forward to it."

The champions are set to Chelsea on Sunday and Fletcher thinks Andre Villas-Boas' side are one of the Red Devils' main threats if they are to achieve back-to-back Premier League titles but is also wary of city rivals Manchester City.

He added: "They started last season on fire and ultimately did not win the league, so you have to be careful.

"Chelsea are a top side, with a lot of experience. They have a new manager and have brought in some younger, fresher, exciting players.

"It is a tough Premier League. Although the two Manchester clubs have started particularly well, the other teams are going to be dangerous."

Danny Welbeck has revealed he is feeling fit again after returning to training and is ready to make a comeback when called upon by Sir Alex.

The striker started the season in superb form but pulled up with a hamstring problem after scoring in the win against Arsenal at Old Trafford. After making a speedy recovery, the exciting England international is delighted to be*pushing for selection again.

"I trained*late last week*and had a little rest on Sunday before coming back in again on Monday," he told ManUtd.com. "I'm feeling good.

"I don't know the squad yet for Leeds but, if I'm called upon, I'm always prepared to be there as I feel ready. I wouldn't be training if I wasn't."

Javier Hernandez will return to Manchester United training on Wednesday after scans revealed the striker suffered a bruised shin in United's win over Chelsea on Sunday.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson feared Hernandez could be out for a "couple of weeks" with ligament damage following a crunching challenge from Ashley Cole.

Ferguson claimed Cole should have seen red, labelling the Chelsea defender "reckless". But the left-back, who was booked for the challenge, will not face a charge from the FA.

Despite fears over Hernandez's fitness for United's next Premier League game against Stoke on Saturday, the player's agent claims the striker suffered no more than "just a bump" and will return to training this week.

"[The injury is] nothing, it's just a bump, nothing more," agent Eduardo Hernandez told Telivisa. "I expect him to be training without incident on Wednesday. It looked like [his absence] was longer, they were looking for a fracture, that's why they ran those tests on him."

With Hernandez out of Manchester United's Carling Cup clash against Leeds, Dimitar Berbatov is expected to make his first start of the season, with Paul Pogba set to make his debut.

Fergie Cemas dengan Cedera Vidic

Manajer Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson meyakini kalau sang bek, Nemanja Vidic akan pulih lebih lama lagi. Proses pemulihan yang berjalan lambat jadi penyebabnya.

Seperti yang diketahui, Vidic mengalami cedera betis ketika ia melakoni laga perdana United di Liga Premier musim 2011/12 ini, tepatnya saat menghadapi West Bromwich Albion, 14 Agustus lalu. Cedera tersebut pun memaksanya untuk menepi selama enam pekan.

Tapi, sampai saat ini belum ada tanda-tanda kalau dirinya akan segera kembali. Padahal, proses pemulihan sudah berlangsung hampir enam pekan.

"Proses pemulihan Nemanja berjalan lambat," kata Ferguison seperti yang dikutip dari BBC.

"Cedera pada betis memang sangat merepotkan. Ia belum melakukan pelatihan apapun dan ia tak mengalami kemajuan yang cukup besar sampai saat ini."

Meski kehilangan Vidic, Si Setan Merah sendiri masih bisa tersenyum. Pasalnya, para pemain pengganti seperti Phil Jones, Chris Smalling dan Jonny Evans memainkan tugasnya dengan baik. Mereka pun membantu United di laga-laga selanjutnya.

Kendati demikian, bek asal Serbia itu dipastikan akan tetap menjadi bagian penting dalam skuad Ferguson. Oleh itu, fergie pun berharap Vidic cepat sembuh, sama halnya seperti eks pemain United, Bryan Robson yang juga pernah mengalami masalah di bagian betisnya.

"Saya ingat ketika Bryan Robson mengalami masalah betis, hal itu membuatnya harus absen selama tiga bulan. Semoga saja, Vidic tak akan absen selama itu," terang Fergie.

Rooney's injury 'not serious'

Sir Alex Ferguson admitted the hamstring injury which kept Wayne Rooney out of Saturday's draw at Stoke isn't serious, but was reluctant to pencil in a return date for the striker.

Rooney was among three players who suffered injuries in training on Friday, while the Reds' plans were further dented when Javier Hernandez sustained a dead leg after just three minutes at the Britannia Stadium.

"Jonny Evans got an ankle injury in training yesterday," Sir Alex told MUTV. "We had a nightmare of a training session - Evans, Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney all got injured. Jonny thought he'd be okay but in the warm-up it was no use. With Chicharito in your team he gives you that penetration and speed, that was a loss."

"It's difficult to say [how long Rooney will be out for]. It's not a serious hamstring injury but I don't think he'll be available for next week. I think he'll be out for more than a week."

Rooney, Carrick, Evans and Hernandez join a lengthy injury list which already includes Nemanja Vidic, Chris Smalling, Rafael, Tom Cleverley and Darron Gibson, although Rio Ferdinand and Danny Welbeck both returned to Premier League action against Stoke.

Meski sempat membuka peluang untuk meraih kemenangan, setelah lebih dulu mencetak gol melalui Luis Nani pada menit ke-27, Si Setan Merah akhirnya dipaksa menutup laga dengan hasil imbang. Sang tuan rumah mampu menyamakan kedudukan melalui Peter Crouch pada menit ke-52.

Untuk Crouch ini adalah gol pertamanya sejak berseragam tim berjuluk The Potters. "Tentunya sangat menyenangkan apabila bisa mencetak gol pertama untuk klub baru Anda, apalagi di hadapan pendukung sendiri," kata Crouch usai pertandingan. Rooney Absen Beberapa Pekan

Manchester - Manchester United akan kehilangan Wayne Rooney selama beberapa pekan, setelah penyerang Inggris itu mesti menepi akibat cedera hamstring.

Rooney, yang memulai musim ini dengan performa ciamik, absen saat MU diimbangi Stoke dan untuk kali pertama tidak mampu memetik poin penuh di Liga Primer.

Absennya pemain berusia 25 tahun tersebut adalah karena ia mendapatkan cedera hamstring saat berlatih. Cedera itu pula yang membuatnya kini harus absen selama beberapa pekan.

"Cedera Rooney tidaklah serius," ujar Manajer MU Sir Alex Ferguson di Reuters.

"Tapi itu cukup untuk membuatnya absen hari ini dan saya pikir mungkin beberapa pekan," imbuhnya.

Dengan demikian Rooney akan absen dalam partai MU kontra Basel di Liga Champions pada tengah pekan depan dan kemungkinan partai kualifikasi Piala Eropa tanggal 7 Oktober depan saat Inggris bertamu ke Montenegro.

Jika kadar cederanya lebih serius, Rooney pun bisa absen melawan Norwich City dan Liverpool, serta mungkin derby Manchester kontra City pada 23 Oktober depan sekaligus partai Liga Champions lawan Otelul Galati tanggal 18 Oktober.

Selain Rooney, ada dua pemain lain yang baru mengalami cedera: Jonny Evans dan Javier Hernandez. Evans cedera kaki saat pemanasan lawan Stoke sedangkan Hernandez harus diganti dini di laga itu karena cedera pada kakinya usai bersinggungan keras dengan bek Jonathan Woodgate.

Rooney could miss 'weeks'

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that Wayne Rooney could miss "a few weeks" of Manchester United's season.

United served up a surprise at Stoke on Saturday, as they arrived at the Britannia Stadium without their star man. Ferguson told ESPN after the 1-1 draw that the club had endured a "nightmare" training session on Friday. And it appears Rooney was one of the casualties with a hamstring injury.

"Rooney's is not a serious injury, but it was enough to keep him out today, and I think maybe for a few weeks," Ferguson said.

United lost Jonny Evans in the warm-up, while Javier Hernandez lasted less than 10 minutes before limping off.

If Rooney's problem is as bad as feared, he could miss United's Champions League match with Basel at Old Trafford on Tuesday and possibly England's Euro 2012 qualifier in Montenegro on October 7. United also have Premier League games with Liverpool and Manchester City on the horizon.

Meanwhile, Ferguson labelled Stoke's Peter Crouch a persistent fouler after the striker netted in the 1-1 draw between the clubs as he darted between Rio Ferdinand and Phil Jones to nod home a second half equaliser.

"He fouls all the time," Ferguson said. "He gets off with it because of his height, but he jumps on top of defenders all the time. He has been doing that for a long time. Referees know that. Even with the goal he has maybe caught Phil Jones. He's a handful in the air, no doubt about that."

Sir Alex Ferguson expects forwards Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez to return from injury for Manchester United against Norwich at the weekend.

Rooney was a surprise absentee from United's draw with Stoke last weekend after sustaining a hamstring injury in training, while Hernandez picked up a dead leg at the Britannia Stadium.

Ferguson initially claimed Rooney could be sidelined for weeks, but the forward seems set to return after missing the midweek draw with Basel in the Champions League.

"Wayne and Hernandez should be fit for tomorrow," Ferguson said. "They've been training very well so I'm pleased. We'll hopefully have Jonny Evans back too."

Defensive reinforcements should also be available after the upcoming international break, a welcome boost for Ferguson after some sloppy performances in Tuesday's 3-3 draw against Basel at Old Trafford.

He said: "At the moment we're making too many changes in the back four so hopefully his [Evans] return will help us with the defensive part. [Nemanja] Vidic, [Tom] Cleverley and [Chris] Smalling should be ready after the internationals and available for Liverpool.

"There's been talk of underestimating our opponents [Basel] - I think there's an element of truth to that. But we have to be better defensively."

Northern Ireland will be without Jonny Evans for their final Euro 2012 qualifiers against Estonia and Italy after the defender withdrew from the squad.

Evans started and completed the full 90 minutes of Manchester United's nervy 2-0 victory over Norwich City at Old Trafford last weekend.

However, Northern Ireland boss Nigel Worthington has revealed he was told by the club that Evans needs time to recover from an ankle problem.

"Jonny is not here and he won't be here," Worthington told BBC Sport.

"He has an ongoing ankle problem. He did play at the weekend but the feeling at his club is that he does need rest and recuperation.

"We accept that and move on."

Northern Ireland would need victories over Estonia and Italy, while depending on Serbia and Slovenia's results, to stand any sort of chance of qualifying for Euro 2012.

Worthington's side are currently fifth in Group C, five points behind second-placed Serbia and 13 adrift of unbeaten Italy.

Evans joins Darren Fletcher as another Manchester United player to pull out of international duty this week after the midfielder withdrew from the Scotland squad with tonsillitis.

Anderson has emerged as a doubt for United's Barclays Premier League clash with Sunderland on Saturday.

The Brazilian midfielder was substituted during the second half of the 2-0 win against Otelul Galati and could miss the encounter with Steve Bruce's Black Cats, joining Chris Smalling, Ashley Young and Tom Cleverley on the sidelines.

Skipper Nemanja Vidic is available for domestic duty despite his European suspension but the boss is waiting for a clearer picture of the injury situation following the Champions League victory.

"Vidic will be back but maybe Anderson is the one player who picked up an injury last night," said the boss. "We'll see what he's like. He could be doubtful.

"There will be no returns for Young, Smalling or Cleverley though."

There is no update on Michael Owen after he was injured during the lead-up to Antonio Valencia's opening goal on Wednesday night.

"Michael injured his thigh when he made the run across the front post for the first goal," explained Sir Alex. "It's a killer for him. He started the season well, he's been training terrifically. His two performances in the League Cup have been great. He made the goal last night, no doubt about that. I hope he's not out for too long. We've assessed him this morning, he's had a scan but we don't have any results from that yet."

Michael Carrick returned to full training this week but Darren Fletcher wasn't available for the Galati game.

The Reds no.7 lasted just 10 minutes against the Romanians after straining his left thigh in the build-up to United’s opening goal when Owen darted towards the near post and stretched for Phil Jones’ cross. While he failed to make contact with the ball, Owen’s movement dragged defenders out of position and, as Sir Alex Ferguson said afterwards, “made the goal” for Antonio Valencia, who arrived behind the striker to tap into the empty net.

The boss was initially hopeful Owen’s knock would not prove serious, but a club spokesman told ManUtd.com on Monday: “Michael has a thigh muscle injury and will be out for six weeks or so.”

That prognosis means the striker isn’t likely to feature for the Reds until Boxing Day at the earliest, when United welcome Wigan Athletic to Old Trafford. Sir Alex’s men are also scheduled to host Blackburn Rovers on New Year’s Eve, with United’s first game of 2012 due to take place at Newcastle on Wednesday 4 January.

Owen udah pernah main sekali di EPL musim ini lawan Stoke.

Cedera Otot, Welbeck Absen di Laga Inggris vs Swedia

TRIBUNNEWS.COM, LONDON - Striker Manchester United Danny Welbeck dipastikan tak bisa membela tim nasional Inggris dalam laga persahabatan melawan Swedia di Stadion Wembley, Selasa (15/11/2011) malam waktu setempat. Welbeck mengalami cedera otot.
Cedera Welbeck sebenarnya tidak parah. Tetapi tim medis menyarankan agar Welbeck tidak turun melawan Swedia.

Berita buruk lagi untuk United: Anderson akan absen sampai Februari karena cidera lutut. Terakhir dia tampil lawan Otelul dan dikabarkan cidera, baru sekarang ada update beritanya dan ternyata cideranya cukup parah. Get well soon Ando :(

Sir Alex revealed the blow at his Friday press conference after the South American has been missing since being substituted in the home win against Otelul Galati.

"It's in the midfield area where we've still got issues with Tom Cleverley and Anderson," stated the boss. "It's not good news about Anderson, we don't think he'll be fit until February.

"He's got this knee injury and we've sent him back to Portugal to see the specialist who operated on his knee last time. That's a bit of a blow, we didn't expect that one. So that's the two midfield players who are going to be missing for a spell now."

The manager insists he still has enough options in the middle of the park - even though injuries have taken their toll in the position this term.

"We're not as bad as people think we are in midfield," he stressed. "Ryan Giggs gives you experience of course, Michael Carrick’s form in the last two games has been outstanding. He had a little bit of a problem with his Achilles earlier on in the season but he’s got over that now and the grounds are softer now of course which helps.

"Darren Fletcher, given the right preparation, is always a very, very good player for us. Getting Tom Cleverley back would be a bonus if we can get him back around Christmas time. It would be a bonus to get him back because he’s such a clever footballer. I think we’re okay, we’ve got a strong squad."

One thing that is certain is Sir Alex won't be rushing into the January transfer market as a consequence. "It's dead easy to say you'll go out and buy players," he warned. "But it's not easy to buy players who are good enough for Manchester United, especially in January.

"I could choose two or three players who you’d like to have at this club who are not available. So there’s no point in even going there."

Birmingham - Manchester United kembali harus kehilangan pemain akibat cedera. Pemain teranyar yang masuk ruang perawatan adalah Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez. Ia diperkirakan bakal absen selama sebulan.

Chicharito hanya bertahan selama dua belas menit di dalam lapangan ketika MU menghadapi Aston Villa di Villa Park, Minggu (4/12/2011) dinihari WIB. Penyerang asal Meksiko itu salah mendarat sehabis melompat dan membuat engkel kaki kirinya cedera.

"Dia mengalami cedera di ligamen engkelnya. Mungkin dia akan absen selama empat pekan," ujar Sir Alex Ferguson memberikan keterangan setelah laga.

Sebelum Chicharito, MU sudah kehilangan dua orang penyerang lainnya akibat cedera, yakni Dimitar Berbatov dan Michael Owen. Dengan cederanya Chicharito, 'Setan Merah' tinggal memiliki Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck, dan Federico Macheda di lini depan.

Chicharito juga menyusul daftar pemain MU yang cedera lainnya. Sebelum ini ada Anderson yang harus menepi sampai Februari dan Tom Cleverley yang baru akan kembali setelah Natal.

Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic will undergo a scan after he was stretchered off with a knee injury during his side's 2-1 UEFA Champions League defeat at Basel on Wednesday.

The Serbian defender twisted his right knee in a challenge with Basel striker Marco Streller a minute before the break in Switzerland.

The 30-year-old appeared to be in quite some pain and had to be stretchered from the field, to be replaced by Jonny Evans.

With the Red Devils failing to qualify for the knockout stages for the first time in six years, Vidic's injury completed a miserable night for the Premier League champions.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson revealed after the game that he fears Vidic has suffered medial ligament damage, which could sideline him for a significant amount of time.

The former Spartak Moscow man has already missed the opening two months of the campaign with a calf injury, but had looked back to his best in recent weeks alongside Rio Ferdinand.

The loss of the influential captain, who left the stadium on crutches, would represent a further blow to United's chances of closing the five-point gap between themselves and Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.

Manchester United’s bad week has just got worse, with Reds boss Sir Alex Ferguson revealing Nemanja Vidic will miss the rest of the 2011/12 season.

The Serbian centre-back was stretchered from the field during United’s 2-1 loss to Basel on Wednesday night, a result that sent the Reds tumbling out of the Champions League.

Vidic left the stadium on crutches and his agent revealed on Thursday night that the defender had “suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament”.

Sir Alex, speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday morning, confirmed what United fans feared most.

“We thought it was a bad one,” he said. “He’s out for the season. It’s not unexpected but it’s still bad news.

“He’ll see a specialist on Monday to work out the progress of when he has the operation. It won’t be immediate as we have to let the swelling come down.

"We'll now have to choose between Jonny Evans, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling [to fill the gap]. I thought Rio had his best game of season on Wednesday. His experience will be vital.

"[Losing Nemanja] is a loss and we missed him in the early part of the season for five weeks with his calf injury against West Brom.

"He's such a dominant character, particularly his defending in the penalty box. That's always a strong feature of his game."

Manchester, detiksport - Kabar buruk yang tak diharapkan Manchester United terkait kondisi Nemanja Vidic akhirnya menjadi kenyataan. Kapten 'Setan Merah' itu divonis harus beristirahat hingga akhir musim karena cedera lutut.

Vidic mengalami cedera saat MU tunduk di kandang Basel di matchday terakhir Liga Champions. Dalam laga di mana The Red Devils tunduk 1-2 tersebut, Vidic ditarik keluar di menit 41.

Bek asal Serbia itu mengalami masalah pada otot ligamen di lutut kanannya karena tertimpa Marco Streller saat sedang berduel. Setelah dilakukan pemindaian maka Vidic membutuhkan operasi yang mengharuskannya absen hingga hingga akhir musim.

"Kami rasa cederanya termasuk buruk. Dia absen hingga akhir musim. Ini tidak diharapkan namun tetap saja kabar buruk," tutur sang manajer, Sir Alex Ferguson, di situs resmi tim.

"Kami akan menemui spesialis pada hari Senin besok untuk mengetahui perkembangan ketika ia menjalani pembedahan. Operasi tidak akan langsung dilakukan karena harus menunggu bengkaknya berakhir," lugasnya.

Kehilangan Vidic adalah pukulan telak bagi Fergie dan juga skuad MU, sebab MU cuma bisa memenangi 60 persen laga tanpa kehadiran bek 30 tahun itu dan kebobolan 0,96 per laga.

Bandingkan saat Vidic bermain di mana rasio kemenangan MU mencapai 74 persen dan hanya kebobolan 0,69 gol per laga. Demikian dilansir dari Infostradalive dan Opta.

Gelandang hanya Park, Vale dan Nani. Penyerang cuma Diouf aja... blom 1/2 musim mayoritad dah pernah "tepar".

Cedera hal wajar dalam sepak bola. Klub mungkin hanya bisa memprediksi/diagnosa aja plus belajar dari riwayat cedera. Tapi klo dah waktunya cedera ya cedera. Klo aku sih bukan cedera yang jadi kambing hitam, tapi kedalaman skuad. Mo separuh pemaen utama cedera tidak jadi masalah klo tim punya kedalaman skuad yang bagus.

The Bulgarian striker has missed the side's last three games after limping off at half-time of the Reds' Carling Cup defeat against Crystal Palace on 30 November with a foot injury.

Last season's joint top scorer in the Barclays Premier League resumed training seven days ago but failed a late fitness test for last weekend's game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

But in a week in which news of injuries (Nemanja Vidic) and illness (Darren Fletcher) have dominated the United headlines, Sir Alex was able to deliver some good news at his Friday morning press conference.

"Berbatov's fit and should be available for Sunday," he said. "Rafael is back training as well, which is good. Darron Gibson got a knock last night [for the Reserves]. We took him off as a precaution but he should be okay."

The Reds travel to Queens Park Rangers knowing it won't be easy to come away with victory. After all, only two sides have won at Loftus Road this season, with the likes of Chelsea, Newcastle and Aston Villa all failing to pick up three points.

Sir Alex, however, is confident.

"I always enjoy going to Queens Park Rangers," he said. "It's always a good atmosphere and we used to be able to get a bigger support than normal. They used to give us one section - the one behind the goal and then part of the side, which always meant we had about 6,000 fans.

"We have a good record there and I hope we can continue that. They've done well and given themselves a chance of staying in the league by investing and bringing in a few players. It's going to be a hard game.

"Queens Park Rangers have invested the right way. Neil Warnock realised that when you get into the Premier League you need big players. That gives them a better chance because it’s an unremitting league in terms of the demands, particularly for teams coming out of the Championship.

"Strangely, Norwich, Swansea and QPR [all the promoted teams] have done well and adapted to the demands of the league. The rest test, though, is in the second half of the season."

Phil Jones to have X-ray

Phil Jones will have an X-ray on Thursday to assess the damage to his jaw sustained in United’s 5-0 win at Fulham on Wednesday night.

Jones required lengthy on-field treatment after he was caught by a stray Clint Dempsey elbow in the opening moments at Craven Cottage, although played on until the 20th minute when he was replaced by Ashley Young.

Early unconfirmed reports from London suggested Jones may be sidelined for up to six weeks, but Sir Alex revealed the 19-year-old would be assessed by medical staff on Thursday.

“We’ll send him for an X-ray tomorrow,” he told reporters after the game. “He had an elbow to his jaw. It was an elbow by Dempsey but I don’t think it was deliberate.”

Jones wasn’t the only injury concern at Craven Cottage. Ashley Young, who replaced Jones on 20 minutes, limped off himself after a pair of heavy challenges early in the second half.

“Fulham were very aggressive and Ashley Young has paid the price for that,” Sir Alex said. “He’ll be out for two or three weeks.”

Meanwhile, Rio Ferdinand is also expected to miss United’s next fixture, against Wigan on Boxing Day.

“Rio got a knock on the foot on Sunday against Queens Park Rangers. I think he’ll be available for Blackburn [on New Year’s Eve] but not the Wigan game.

Manchester - Daftar panjang cedera para pemain Manchester United makin bertambah. Kini giliran Jonny Evans yang harus masuk ruang perawatan.

Kemenangan 5-0 atas Wigan pada Senin (26/12/2011) malam WIB harus dibayar mahal. Evans harus ditarik keluar dan digantikan oleh Ezekiel Fryers saat pergantian babak karena cedera.

Usai laga Sir Alex Ferguson mengonfirmasi bahwa Evans mengalami cedera betis. Bek asal Irlandia Utara itu harus menepi paling tidak hingga dua pekan dan akan melewatkan partai kontra Blackburn pada 31 Desember mendatang.

"Jonny ditarik karena cedera. Dia mengalami cedera betis dan akan absen selama dua minggu," kata Sir Alex pada BBC Radio Five Live sperti dikutip oleh ESPN Star.

'Setan Merah' memang sedang dilanda badai cedera. Sir Alex mengakui banyaknya pemainnya yang absen membuatnya ada dalam tekanan.

"Kami mengalami mimpi buruk beberapa hari belakangan ini. Phil Jones dan Chris Smalling sakit. Rio Ferdinand ditarik keluar kemarin dengan cedera punggung dan Jonny Evans ditarik pada saat jeda."

"Ini membuat Anda ada dalam tekanan," pungkasnya.

MU akan menjamu Blackburn dalam lanjutan Liga Inggris pada hari Minggu (31/12/2011) mendatang. Empat hari kemudian Wayne Rooney cs akan bertandang ke markas Newcastle.

Phil Jones and Chris Smalling will be back in United's defence for the New Year's Day clash with Blackburn providing they can both shake of the illness which kept them out of the Wigan victory.

A makeshift back four, which included Antonio Valencia and Michael Carrick, and later Patrice Evra at centre-back alongside Carrick, put on an impressive display to repel any threat from the Latics on Boxing Day.

United's injury list has been mounting by the game of late, but Sir Alex hopes to be able to call upon the services of Jones and Smalling against Rovers folllowing further setbacks for Rio Ferdinand and Jonny Evans, who is likely to be out for two weeks with a calf injury.

"We've had a nightmare in the last few days. Phil Jones and Chris Smalling have both been ill, then Rio [Ferdinand] cried off on Sunday with a back injury and Jonny Evans came off injured at half-time [against Wigan]," the boss told MUTV.

"It does put you under a bit of pressure, but fortunately we had a good first half and got an early goal which helped us. And we managed to get through the game without any more injuries.

"I'm hoping that Smalling and Jones will have recovered from illness [for Saturday] as that will make a difference."

The United defender must pass a series of rigorous cognitive tests by the club’s medical department this week to be available for the match at the Emirates.

Ferdinand claimed on Twitter that he ‘could not remember’ what happened during United’s 3-0 victory over Bolton at Old Trafford on Saturday.

He also admitted he had suffered concussion, which under previous FA rules meant he would automatically miss the next 10 days.

But the FA have relaxed the guidelines and Ferdinand, 33, will now be put through a thorough medical examination.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is counting on one of his most experienced defenders for the title run-in after losing captain Nemanja Vidic with a long-term knee injury.

While Sir Alex Ferguson was delighted to leave North London with maximum points on Sunday, it came at a cost as yet more players were added to the United injury list.

Phil Jones, who missed last Saturday's win over Bolton with a knock, now looks set out to be out for "a few weeks", according to Sir Alex, after he was stretched off after 17 minutes against Arsenal. Nani hobbled off late on, while Wayne Rooney, Patrice Evra and Michael Carrick were also in the wars.

"It's not good news for us," the boss told MUTV. "I think Jones will be out for a few weeks - it's ankle ligaments. Carrick was feeling his hamstring in the second half and he just had to sit in the middle of the pitch."

The boss also explained his decision to substitute Rafael 14 minutes from time after the Brazilian had earlier replaced Jones.

"Rafa wasn't very pleased and I can understand that," sympathised Sir Alex. "He's so brave and determined to win the ball but he'd already been booked and I thought with the crowd getting up and if he made another half-bad challenge he might be in trouble. Mike Dean has sent him off before and I just thought it was best to get an experienced player like Valencia back in there [at right-back] and bring on the experience of Park and Scholes to try and see the game out."

Sir Alex Ferguson has been boosted by the news that Wayne Rooney, Ashley Young and Nani are all available for Manchester United's Premier League clash against Chelsea on Sunday, with Tom Cleverley in the squad for the first time since October.

Rooney and Nani missed United's FA Cup defeat to Liverpool and league win over Stoke in midweek with foot injuries but returned to training this week and are expected to start.

Cleverley, who has been out of action since October, will travel with the squad but is unlikely to feature. Meanwhile Young, also out with a foot injury since December, is available for selection.

"We're a bit better in terms of injuries," Ferguson said. "We hope Wayne Rooney, Nani, Tom Cleverley and Ashley Young will all be in the squad. It's more likely Tom will play against Chelsea Reserves on Monday, but he'll travel. Rooney and Nani have trained for the last two days."

However, Ferguson confirmed Anders Lindegaard would be sidelined for at least four weeks with an ankle injury. David De Gea is expected to return after missing the midweek win over Stoke.

"It looks like Lindegaard will be out for at least four weeks, maybe five to six, with ankle ligament damage," Ferguson said. "We don't know what his recovery from injuries is like, so we'll have to wait and see, but I would have thought at least four weeks."

Dilansir dari situs resmi The Red Devils, Valencia mengalami masalah dengan hamstringnya saat perebutan bola di lapangan tengah dengan pemain lawan. Kejadian itu pula yang mengawali terciptanya gol kedua MU dari Javier Hernandez di menit 85.

Valencia yang masuk sebagai pemain pengganti akhirnya harus ditarik keluar dan digantikan Danny Welbeck.

Seusai laga manajer MU, Sir Alex Ferguson, mengonfirmasi jika gelandang 26 tahun itu harus istirahat selama kurang lebih empat pekan.

Cederanya Valencia ini tentunya merupakan pukulan bagi Fergie dan MU karena si pemain sedang tampil on fire dalam sebulan terakhir. Ia pun diganjar dengan gelar pemain terbaik MU bulan Januari lalu.

Sir Alex Ferguson said Manchester United required a wake-up call to overcome Ajax on their Europa League debut but the victory was tainted by an injury to Antonio Valencia that will sideline the in-form winger for four weeks.

Valencia damaged his hamstring 10 minutes after replacing Ashley Young, scorer of United's first goal, as he instigated the move that produced the cushion of a second for Javier Hernández. The Ecuador international was immediately substituted and is expected to miss next week's return against Frank de Boer's side, the league games against Norwich City, Tottenham Hotspur and West Bromwich Albion, and, should United advance as expected in the Europa League, both legs against either Lokomotiv Moscow or Athletic Bilbao. Ferguson confirmed: "He's got a hamstring injury which is unfortunate. Hamstrings are hamstrings, so it could be four weeks."

Two away goals plus a clean sheet in Europe did not completely satisfy the United manager, who admitted the team's first-half display against an Ajax side with only one win this year had left him deeply unimpressed. "I think the result was better than the performance," Ferguson said. "The first half was disappointing. It was difficult to get the rhythm and speed to the game. Ajax made it very difficult for us with their system. They pressed the ball very well. In the second half we had to wake up. We made it difficult for ourselves.

"I just think we didn't speed up our game enough. I know they pressed the ball very well and left their centre-backs to make most of the progress with the ball, but we needed to play quicker. The second half we improved, made some good opportunities and deserved to win. It's a good result. You can't complain too much when you win 2-0 away from home."

The United manager said the finest aspect of the performance was Tom Cleverley's first start in four months plus the return from injury of Phil Jones, Nani and Young. He added: "Winning is always a good habit. We're in a good spell now despite a disappointing first half, but away from home we made a few chances. Bit by bit we have a few players coming back, even though we have lost Antonio Valencia tonight, which is a big blow for us. [Chris] Smalling was on the bench and he will play next Thursday for the return leg. We are getting stronger. Jones has played and Cleverley."

"For Thomas Cleverley there was always going to be a point when we took him off. It was his first game in four months, Ashley Young a second game in two months. Nani and Phil Jones have come back and played a full game which is good."

Hernández had a difficult night but has now scored three goals in his past three appearances for United as he seeks to recapture the prolific form of his debut season. "It didn't go well for him in the sense that the final passes were through in front of him or behind his feet but he was always a threat," Ferguson said. "He proved that again. Maybe he could have also have had a penalty kick in second half. It was difficult to see from where it was. He gave us another option."

Ferguson also praised David de Gea following an encouraging display from the Spanish goalkeeper. He added: "He was confident, assured and controlled his penalty box very well."

Injury blow: United feared Nemanja Vidic would miss the rest of season

Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a knee injury and could even be ready to play by the end of the season, it emerged last night.

Vidic had surgery on his right cruciate ligament after suffering the injury in United's Champions League defeat at Basle in early December, and it was originally feared he could be out for as long as 12 months.

However, Sportsmail understands the former Serbia centre half is making rapid progress as he works on his fitness and is putting significant weight back on his knee during his rehabilitation sessions.

Vidic has been aiming to be fit by the time United head to Asia on a pre-season tour in July and that remains the target set by United's medical staff.

However, there is now an outside chance that the 30-year-old could be ready to play before the end of the season.

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed Wayne Rooney will miss Manchester United's Europa League match against Ajax on Thursday after he picked up a throat infection.

Rooney developed the problem following the first leg in Amsterdam and, although he reported for training on Wednesday, was quickly sent home in the hope he will recover in time for Sunday's Premier League trip to Norwich.

"Wayne is out tomorrow," said Ferguson. "He has a really bad throat. There were traces of it in Amsterdam and we gave him some medication but it got worse. He has been in bed over the weekend and came in today for the first time and we are trying hard to get him right for Sunday."

Rooney was the only significant absentee from the open portion of the training session, with the remainder of United's first-team squad present, including the midfielder Anderson, who has been missing recently.

As United are 2-0 up from the away leg and appear certain to book a last-16 encounter with either Lokomotiv Moscow or Athletic Bilbao, Rooney might not have played anyway given the number of players Ferguson feels must be involved after their recent lack of game time.

The young French midfielder Paul Pogba may also come into contention, although it seems more likely the 18-year-old, whose contractual position remains unresolved, will be on the bench.

"It is possible we could give Pogba a run-out," said Ferguson. "It depends because there are a lot of players who need a game; Nani, Young, Hernandez, Cleverley, Smalling, Jones. Those players will all play tomorrow and we hope to put a sprinkling of experience amongst it."

Antonio Valencia could be fit in time to face Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Sunday 4 March.

The classy winger suffered a hamstring strain after coming on as a substitute in the first leg victory against Ajax in the Europa League and was expected to be out for around a month.

However, Sir Alex is hopeful that the right-sided midfielder will be back in contention for a starting spot against third-placed Spurs.

"The availability of Ashley Young and Nani as natural wide players considerably strengthens our attacking options," the boss wrote in his column for United Review, the official matchday programme. "And I am sure our strikers are pleased to see them.

"They will be sorry to see Antonio Valencia injured again because he too provides great service from out on his wing, but it's not a particularly serious injury and he should be back in a week or so."

"There was a little bit of tiredness for the players who needed a game, those who had been injured, like Tom Cleverley, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Ashley Young. It's good to get them all back but we took them to the limit in terms of the energy spent last night because it was quite a fast game."

Wayne Rooney missed Thursday's Ajax match due to a throat infection but the boss is hopeful his talismanic number ten could return at Carrow Road.

"Wayne was out running yesterday and we're doing our best to make sure he's ready for Sunday. We'll see what he's like tomorrow (Saturday)."

United defender Chris Smalling was taken to hospital on Wednesday night after suffering a head injury during England's 3-2 friendly defeat to Holland.

Smalling collided with Klaas Jan Huntelaar as the Dutch striker headed home his side's second goal in as many minutes, just before the hour mark. With both players left lying flat out on the Wembley pitch, Holland's celebrations were curtailed and a worrying break in play ensued. After treatment, Huntelaar was able to walk off the pitch clutching a bloody nose but the England and United centre-back had to depart the arena on a stretcher.

Phil Jones was sent on as a substitute for Smalling, and he later claimed an assist when his first-time pass played in Reds team-mate Ashley Young to clip home England's injury-time equaliser. But just when caretaker manager Stuart Pearce thought he'd marked his debut in the hotseat with a dramatic 2-2 draw, Arjen Robben curled Holland's exquisite winning goal past Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart.

Former Chelsea winger Robben also grabbed the opener with a stunning solo surge from inside his own half. Current Chelsea centre-back Gary Cahill was England's other scorer, cutting Holland's lead to 2-1 late on before Young levelled the scores with his fourth goal in five international appearances.

The latter was the only United man to complete the full 90 minutes - Danny Welbeck started up front but was replaced in the second half when former Reds striker Fraizer Campbell came on to earn his first senior cap.

The England quartet were not the only Reds who lost a midweek international on home turf. Jonny Evans played a full match for Northern Ireland as they were beaten 3-0 in Belfast by Euro 2012 finalists Norway.

Patrice Evra's national team France won on their travels, 2-1 away to neighbours Germany, but he was an unused substitute.

Meanwhile Nani had to settle for a draw as Portugal were held 0-0 in Poland, one of the host nations for Euro 2012. The United star was substituted eight minutes from time.

Earlier on Wednesday evening, young Reds striker Will Keane came off the bench for England's Under-21s and helped the side to see out an impressive 4-0 win over Belgium in European Championship Group 8. His United team-mate Ben Amos wasn't named in the 18 on the night at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium.

seharusnya sih bgtu, tp bisa jadi ga semua pemain yg ada di daptar cedera yg sembuh tgl 4 itu akan dibawa ke WHL, krn bisa jadi ada yg blm 100% match fitness nya ataupun condition nya...

Sayang sekali, dapat kesempatan dipanggil timnas eh Tom Cleverly malah kembali cidera ...Mudah-mudahan tidak parah karena tenaganya masih diperlukan hingga akhir musim ini. Cleverley bukan tipe seperti Owen kan yang rentan cidera ?

Gw punya kekhawatiran kalo Tom kaya 2 Owen,,rentan cedera..
Begitu masuk lapangan lagi,,ga lama kemudian cedera lagi.. :(

Tom Cleverley is also rated ’50-50’ to be named in the United squad after recovering from an ankle injury but Sir Alex Ferguson was taking a last look at the England midfielder in training on Wednesday before making a final decision.

Sources have told Goal.com that Anderson will be involved against the Spanish club after stepping up his recovering from a knee injury.

The midfielder, who was an unused substitute against Tottenham last Sunday, is understood to have trained well all week and is expected to make the United starting XI for the first time since the 2-0 Champions League win over Otelul Galati on November 2.

Anderson made an earlier than anticipated return to the United squad after Christmas, making consecutive substitute appearances against Blackburn Rovers, Newcastle United and Manchester City.

However, the 23-year-old suffered a relapse and was forced to spend a second extended spell on the sidelines.

The Brazilian will hope to recover some of his excellent early season form, when he established a burgeoning central midfield partnership with Cleverley.

The 22-year-old had to pull out of the England squad for the friendly against the Netherlands after damaging his right ankle in United’s home Europa League defeat by Ajax two weeks ago.

But he is now training again with United and sources have told Goal.com that he is in the reckoning to be involved against Bilbao on Thursday.

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed he expects goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard to be available for Manchester United within the next three weeks.

The Denmark international had just broken into the Red Devils first team on a regular basis when he injured an ankle in training.

It has ruled Lindegaard out since the end of January, offering David de Gea the chance to re-establish himself as United's number one.

De Gea has snapped up that opportunity, meaning when Lindegaard is fit again he will find it doubly difficult to re-establish himself.

"Anders is doing all the running now," said Ferguson.

"It will be another two or three weeks before he gets into the football side but he is progressing very well."

Ferguson confirmed veteran midfielder Paul Scholes had missed training this morning to do some gym work and that fellow midfielders Anderson and Tom Cleverley were available after recent injuries.

However, the United boss said he knew nothing of the intentions of teenager Paul Pogba, who has reportedly agreed to join Juventus in the summer.

Pogba was missing from last night's reserve team defeat to West Brom and trained away from the first-team squad today, further strengthening the belief he will be leaving.

"I can't tell you anything about it because I do not know," said Ferguson.

Cedera Lagi, Anderson Diprediksi Menepi 5 Minggu

Manchester - Manajer Manchester United Sir Alex Ferguson mengumumkan bahwa gelandangnya, Anderson, harus menepi karena cedera hamstring dan diprediksi menepi selama lima minggu.

Bersama The Red Devils musim ini Anderson lebih banyak berkutat dengan pemulihan cedera. Di bulan November dia mendapatkan cedera lutut yang memaksanya absen tiga bulan.

Baru bermain lima kali sehabis pulih dari cedera, Anderson harus kembali absen karena mendapatkan cedera baru, yang diperolehnya di leg I Liga Europa melawan Athletic Bolbao minggu lalu.

Vidic now expecting to return to training in July

Manchester United skipper Nemanja Vidic has confirmed he is on course for a return to action at the start of next season.

Vidic ruptured his cruciate ligament during December's Champions League defeat to Basel. The 30-year-old was immediately ruled out for the remainder of the campaign, and although there were suggestions he may be back sooner, in a webchat with the official United website he said his target was pre-season training.

"My recovery is going well," he said. "Obviously the projection was I would be ready for the next season. I am on schedule and will hopefully start training again in July."

Vidic has been confined to gym work during the early weeks of his rehabilitation, although that will be stepped up as the months go on.

In the meantime, the Serbian has been reduced to a watching brief as United head for a record 20th Premier League title. Although Patrick Vieira has cast doubt on United's credentials, Vidic does not share his view.

He may be wary of saying any games are easier than others, but because of United's fixtures on the run-in he feels they deserve to be favourites.

"I've had the belief from the beginning and if you look at the schedule of the games we have left to play I would like to say we are the favourites," he told www.manutd.com.

"We still have to win the nine games and need to be focused. We believed from the beginning and have the confidence but we have nine Champions League final games now I would say.

"It's all in our hands. We have to focus and give our best. All the players are ready to perform which is a good sign and a positive thing for the nine games ahead."
