Redknapp confident that QPR will survive... despite only winning once this season and being eight points from safety
dailymail.co.uk, Lee Bryan - 30 December 2012

Manager Harry Redknapp came out fighting after his QPR side were beaten 3-0 at home by Liverpool.

Bottom-of-the-table Rangers put in an abject first-half performance against the Anfield club, being taken apart by two-goal Luis Suarez.

QPR head into 2013 in big trouble and eight points from safety, with Redknapp yet to kickstart the revival many expected when he got the job last month.

Plenty of work to do: Harry Redknapp has it all to do if QPR are to avoid the drop

The veteran boss himself has criticised his players since taking over, particularly after the pre-Christmas loss to Newcastle, but tonight he had changed his tune.

'I still feel we'll be okay,' he told Sky Sports 1.

'I think we will look to get one or two in, there are some good lads here anyway, I think it's possible. It's my belief we'll be okay.'

Redknapp had previously said he would not encourage owner Tony Fernandes to spend next month if his side remained in trouble, but tonight gave a nod to a change in policy, believing new players could make survival possible.

'It's not easy getting players in at this stage at the bottom of the league, but if someone is up for the challenge, it's a great chance,' he said.

'We need new faces and if we get the right players we can make a real effort. We have some hard games to come but there is a long way to go. You could have 10 games to go and need 20 points and it can be done.

'Don't give up, we have to keep believing, keep going. Those that are with us are with us, those that aren't, we'll try and do something.'

Harry Redknapp: Saving QPR would be like winning a trophy
Harry Redknapp believes saving QPR from relegation from the Premier League would almost be as good as winning a trophy
SportReview, Michael Symons - 4 January 2013

http://www.thesportreview.com/tsr/wp-content/uploads/redknapp2.jpg
Harry Redknapp's QPR are currently five points from safety

Harry Redknapp believes rescuing Queens Park Rangers from relegation would prove just as memorable as lifting silverware and called on players to swap the security of mid-table for a crack at something special.

The Hoops kicked off 2013 with an improbable 1-0 win at Chelsea, a result that Redknapp expects to convince one or two that QPR is a risk worth taking.

“Players will think maybe there is something that could still happen there,” he said.

“It’s a challenge. We want people who are going to come here and take up the challenge. It could be exciting.

“Getting out of trouble is almost as good as winning something when you’re in the position we’re in.

“And maybe people will look at it and think well rather than sitting around going somewhere in the middle of the table, seeing out the rest of the season, let’s go and take on a real challenge. If we can pull it off it’ll be great. That’s what you’re looking for.”

Two such individuals might come in the shape of Premier League veterans Robbie Keane and Tim Cahill, both now plying their trade in the MLS.

And while Redknapp gladly shared his admiration for the pair, he conceded the brevity of any loan deal would likely scupper the prospects of a move.

“You’re taking them for about six weeks. It’s very difficult. And then you lose them at a time when you’ve got another ten, 12 games to try and stay up,” he explained.

“They would improve any team. They’re two fantastic professionals and two great players, but I’m not close to doing anything with them.”

Five Reasons Why the Canaries Will Not Be Relegated

I saw this poor article on the Ladbrokes website today that suggested that Norwich City’s poor run of form will see them relegated. Of course, this could easily be a tactic in order to get people piling their cash on something that obviously will not occur.

However, I am prepared to humour them somewhat and state why I think there is no need for the Canaries to be at all concerned by such a report. So, sit back and relax as I bring you more Canary style insight on the Bleacher Report.

The Transfer Window Is Open
In case anyone hasn’t noticed yet, the January transfer window is currently open, so the Canaries have an opportunity to add to the squad. I think we know from history that the transfer market has that nasty habit of changing everything that we thought we knew about the season.

So far, Norwich City hasn’t been able to do any business in the first two weeks, but the January window doesn’t tend to get interesting until the last week. In my opinion, progressive Premier League teams need to look to add to their squad in every transfer window. And this is something that Norwich has managed to do in recent history.

It’s difficult to predict which players will be coming in, but I have a sneaky suspicion that Chris Hughton will again be looking abroad to secure value for money signings. I think it’s fair to say that a lot of the current speculation is total rubbish, but business will be done, even if we have to wait until transfer deadline day.

Class Is Permanent, but Form Is Temporary
Football fans and pundits tend to be a fickle lot that enjoy reacting to a few results whether they are good or bad.

When the Canaries went through that 10 match unbeaten run, it didn’t mean that the team was going to secure a place in the Champions League. And the current run, which has featured four defeats in the last five league games, doesn’t mean that the team will be relegated.

Every game in the Premier League is tough, but Norwich has already proved this season that they have a strong enough squad to get results in the Premier League. I think it’s clear that the obvious class will soon come through again, and the Canaries will be on another very good run of form.

Relegated Teams Tend to Be Poor at the Back
Any Norwich City fan would say that the one weakness that Paul Lambert’s team had was the relatively poor defensive abilities. The history of the Premier League tells us that the teams that go down are usually poor at the back.

Chris Hughton has done a fantastic job in changing the attitude here, and you would now back this side to keep the goals out. Therefore, I do not believe that the defensive record here will be poor enough to see us sucked into the relegation dogfight.

Norwich Are Pretty Good at Grabbing the Odd Goal
I think that it’s fair to say that Norwich don’t score a lot of goals. However, this isn’t a problem if the team isn't conceding a great deal. It’s also fair to say that they don’t have one definitive source of goals, but the Canaries do have a number of players that are capable of grabbing a goal.

It’s worth remembering that Grant Holt scored 15 Premier League goals last season, and although he hasn’t been anywhere near as prolific this season, he is still a very important figure that remains a constant goal-scoring threat. Robert Snodgrass and Anthony Pilkington are Hughton’s preferred players in the wide positions, and both are very much in the criteria of wingers that score.

Snodgrass has become a particularly powerful weapon, because of his superb delivery and goal-scoring ability from set piece positions. And this has allowed the Canaries to get goals, despite not always being the most attacking team.

Injuries Have Played Their Part in Norwich’s Woes
I think it’s fair to say that injuries tend to be more of a problem for the smaller Premier League teams. In general, if a Premier League club has started the season very well, but loses form, then it is usually because they have suffered injuries and this can cause them to lose momentum.

In Norwich’s case, the biggest injury that they suffered was to first choice goalkeeper John Ruddy. And it’s fair to say that Mark Bunn has struggled to find the same sort of form. But it’s also true that there have been other injury problems. Grant Holt recently had a period out of action and Steven Whittaker hasn’t played for some time now.

I remain confident that if Norwich can add to their squad through the transfer market, and get their first choice team back, then they will easily be safe of the relegation zone, despite what Ladbrokes have been saying.

So, I would suggest that money put down on the Canaries being relegated would be money lost.

Sorry buat John O'Shea, Wes Brown, Park Ji-Sung, tp gw ngarep Sunderland dan QPR yg terdegradasi musim ini. Hehe, masih agak bete sama kelakuan mereka musim lalu.
QPR, ikut ngerayain selebrasi juaranya City.
So, I really hope the worst for both teams this season.

Satu lg yg terdegradasi, hmm, mungkin Reading kali ya. Asal jangan Southampton deh.

Queens Park Rangers: Can Harry Redknapp Save His Team from Relegation?

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-160527408_crop_exact_zps84decc92.jpg

Harry Redknapp has not made life easy for himself with his decision to succeed Mark Hughes at Queens Park Rangers.

The former Tottenham and West Ham United boss has taken on an even greater challenge than winning silverware with Portsmouth, which he managed with the 2008 FA Cup triumph over Cardiff City.

QPR had not won a Premier League match when Redknapp was appointed on Nov. 24 and had claimed just four points from their opening 12 matches.

The situation was looking dire and, despite the improvement under Redknapp, there remains an air of inevitability about the Loftus Road club's return to the Championship two years after their promotion to the top flight.

It is arguable that QPR have been in freefall ever since Neil Warnock, the manager who steered them into the top flight just over a year after he took over with the team lying 20th in the Championship table.

Warnock was sacked by the West London club in January 2012 with Rangers in 17th place in the Premier League and without a win in eight league matches.

Hughes arrived with a big reputation forged at Manchester City, Blackburn and Wales but, despite club owner Tony Fernandes spending £10 million immediately for the new boss on Djibril Cisse, Bobby Zamora and Nedum Onuoha, plus loan deals for Samba Diakite, Federico Macheda and Taye Taiwo, QPR survived only because Bolton did not beat Stoke City on the final day.

Summer signings followed for Hughes with Esteban Granero, Diakite, Ji-Sung Park, Junior Hoilett, Julio Cesar, Robert Green, Ryan Nelsen, Jose Bosingwa, Andy Johnson, Sam Magri, Fabio Da Silva and Stephane Mbia all joining.

The brave new dawn did not last even beyond the opening day of the season when Swansea City thrashed QPR 5-0 at Loftus Road. The die was cast and there would be no relief for Hughes until his departure.

Now it's down to Redknapp. QPR supporters had called for his appointment as Hughes' squad fail to get their collective act together and Fernandes made his move with the 65-year-old considering the role as Ukraine manager.

Redknapp has spared Bournemouth, Portsmouth and Tottenham from the drop following his appointments at those struggling clubs during his career, but the case for survival at QPR is folding quickly.

An average haul of around 36 points has seen clubs survive the drop from the top flight, but QPR will now need to at least six of their 13 remaining matches to attain that figure. That doesn't seem too tall an order to the naked eye, but the all-seeing Premier League focus will attest to a team which has won just two matches all season.

Redknapp steadied the ship on his arrival with three draws followed by a first win of the season against Fulham on Dec. 15. But all that work was undone over the Christmas period with defeats to Newcastle, West Brom and Liverpool.

A shock win at Chelsea on Jan. 2 gave QPR hope, but the team have since managed five draws in as many EPL matches, which is not nearly good enough in their current plight.

The arrivals of defender Christopher Samba, Jermaine Jenas, Loic Remy, Andros Townsend and Yun Suk-Young last month have all added to the squad, especially the former Blackburn defender, who will provide invaluable stability to a defence which has lost the experience of Ryan Nelsen.

Fernandes insists in an interview with the Daily Telegraph that his outlay on Redknapp's behalf was not a gamble but his and the club's desire to stay in the top flight with the riches of a new television deal on the horizon means needs must.

Financially, the money spent does not match up for a club with an average attendance of around 18,000 but there is sell-on value in the squad now and the club is not in the same situation as Portsmouth were when they went into administration in February 2010.

However, the club hierarchy has done its bit and it is all down to Redknapp and the players to spare QPR from the drop now.

And for every case of survival in Redknapp's career, there will also be the black mark of Southampton in May 2005. Chances are QPR will be added to that list come May.

What Would Relegation Mean for the Magpies?

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-84682725_crop_exact_zps3bd69c8c.jpg

January’s spending spree in the French market has had an instant impact on Newcastle United. When they were once on the brink of falling into the bottom three, the French influx arrived and six points later, Newcastle are sitting comfortably above the drop zone with eyes on a midtable finish.

Mike Ashley, Derek Llambias and Alan Pardew clearly felt the squad was strong enough to cope with the rigours of both the Premier League and the Europa League when they locked their chequebook away in the summer, but the poor first half of the season soon left them scrambling for the key.

But what if they couldn’t—or even refused—to find the key? What would happen if Newcastle had dropped into the Championship for the second time since the 2008-09?

For sure, the likes of Yohan Cabaye, Hatem Ben Arfa, Cheick Tiote and Papiss Cisse would be snapped up by top-flight clubs and help the Magpies cut their wage bill ahead of life in the second tier.

In fact, if you arrived at St James’ Park ahead of Newcastle’s first game of next year’s Championship campaign, the 11 players donning the famous black and white jersey that day would resemble something barely recognisable to the usual faces we see.

When the Magpies slipped into the Championship after the disastrous 08-09 season, some key players stuck by the club and ensured they had the character and talent to make an instant return to the top flight.

Kevin Nolan, Steve Harper and Fabricio Coloccini were all instrumental in making sure the team stayed together—both on and off the pitch—and got on with the job in hand.

With the current foreign contingent on Tyneside these days, it’s hard to see the same type of characters. Steven Taylor is one, while Harper and Shola Ameobi are part of the furniture on Tyneside.

But after getting some of the huge earners off their books, the board could give their manager the funds to bring in the right type of players to make another quick return to the Premier League.

There is one key difference between the side that went down four years ago—financial stability.

Love him or hate him, Mike Ashley has transformed Newcastle United into an attractive business. Gone are the days of throwing £100,000-per-week wages at players in the hope that they would single-handedly deliver success, only to be left out of pocket when they flop or move on for more money.

These days, business is done in a more logical way at St James’ Park. Newcastle’s top earner, Fabricio Coloccini, is on a respectable £60k per week. Compare this to those years when Michael Owen was stealing a living and pocketing over £100k every seven days.

Keeping with the Owen example, the former England striker cost a club record £17 million. Newcastle’s biggest outlay this summer has been new boy Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa at a comparatively meagre £6.7 million. The differences are spectacular, with Owen later offloaded to Manchester United on a free transfer, while Yanga-Mbiwa will likely be sold on for a profit in the next five years.

The investment in scouting, rather than the transfer market, and long contracts allowing for maximum value in the case of a player being sold, has been Newcastle’s smartest move.

Graham Carr can roam Europe and cherry pick the best talents, while Alan Pardew concentrates on on-pitch matters.

This takes pressure off the manager to find a top player without paying top dollar and allows Ashley and Llambias to negotiate with clubs and grab a bargain, a la Cabaye, Ben Arfa and Moussa Sissoko.

If the Geordies went down, this approach to business would mean they had every chance of coming back up again. They wouldn’t part with millions in the hope of buying their way back into the top flight, instead keeping their cash and investing it back into the club, in order to fund their long-term future.

Once the much-talked about financial rules come into play, Newcastle will be streets ahead of most other clubs, who continue to wander blindly into the transfer market in the hope that they will bag the next bargain of the century.

Much, if not all, of the credit for this approach to running a club has to go to Ashley. Despite his cheap sports brand allowing rival supporters an easy target to mock, he has been responsible for Newcastle’s shrewd business strategy.

He’s put up with years of hatred and threats in order to play the waiting game, knowing that the Geordie fans would see the fruits of his labour in the long term, rather than the short.

Now, Newcastle fans can look at their side and boast about their cheap, quality signings. “How many other clubs can buy another team’s captain and regular international for under £5 million,” they say when referring to Cabaye.

The list goes on seemingly forever, as Newcastle enjoy success in the transfer market with regularity. The recent outlay on six new signings has almost instantly paid itself back, with the Magpies now sitting clear of the bottom three by a much more comfortable margin than they were a little over a month ago.

There is no doubt in the minds of Newcastle fans (as illustrated by this poll) that their beloved side will be more than fine this season. The French legion—led by the monstrous Moussa Sissoko—has dragged Pardew’s side towards the top half and through the toughest tests remaining in their season.

But it’s nice to know that Newcastle United would be fine if the French hadn’t decided to hop across the channel and bail the Geordies out.

Newcastle's Relegation Report: How Many More Points Must Geordies Take?

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-161125343_crop_exact_zps96871bed.jpg

The bottom half of the table is too close to call right now, and Alan Pardew’s Newcastle side need to take themselves out of the discussion.

As the season developed, Pardew’s post-match interviews became less about a top-four finish and more about a bottom-three finish. His moves in the transfer window have had a galvanising effect on the team—despite the loss to Tottenham—but Newcastle’s position remains unstable.

Sitting on 27 points, the Toon are four points above the drop zone, in 16th place. However, they’re also only 10 points off seventh place, so the next month is crucial. It’s going to take more than 37 points to ensure survival this time around.

Traditionally, managers will refer to 40 points as the magic number to guarantee safety. This year there is an additional incentive with the new £5.5 billion TV deal coming into action next season, which ensures a drastic increase in money entering Premier League teams.

Of course, Pardew is aware of all this. Anyone thinking that the January actions of Mike Ashley were done out of immense love for the club need to think again.

Speculate to accumulate; that’s how it works this season. Buy your team survival and enjoy the extra income. QPR’s insane wage bill only makes sense in the wake of the new deal, and it’s a risk most owners are willing to take.

The good news for Newcastle is that they have an excellent scouting team led by Graham Carr, so they were able to bring in immediate contributors at good value. Moussa Sissoko and Yoan Gouffran have been the stars of the show thus far, and at a combined cost of around £3.5 million (via shieldgazette.com) represent another victory for Carr and his team.

With all the fawning over Gareth Bale’s performance in the 2-1 victory over the Magpies, it’s easy to forget that Gouffran was a viable candidate for man of the match before being stretchered off.

He had no help from referee Phil Dowd that day, and the only way Spurs were going to beat him was to get him off the field. The kick that did it was unintentional, but it brought about a substitution that changed the Newcastle dynamic. Sylvain Marveaux is not a natural left-winger, but was forced into that role by Sissoko operating through the middle.

Marveaux should be starting in place of Jonas Gutierrez, but Pardew seems to have blinkers when it comes to the Argentine player. Since Gutierrez scored against Chelsea in a useful performance, it’s difficult to see Marveaux getting a real run in the team this year.

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/toonjonas2_crop_exact_zps01e4073f.gif

Gutierrez is a tireless worker, but his production no longer reflects this. The games against Aston Villa and Chelsea have been his only bright spots in a disappointing season, and Pardew has to give Marveaux his chance.

Midfield gripes aside, Newcastle are actually in good shape coming into the last three months of the season. Their squad is improved following a successful transfer window, and players like Hatem Ben Arfa and Yohan Cabaye returning from injury gives them a further boost.

There have been many jokes about Newcastle becoming a Ligue 1 side, but the fans don’t care what nationality the players are, as long as the results get better.

Looking ahead at the remaining fixtures, Newcastle could feasibly win most of them. There’s an away game at Manchester City that’s unlikely to yield any points, but it’s not a lost cause, either. Liverpool bossed City around twice this year, and the Reds haven’t beaten any of the top 10 sides this year.

A home fixture against Arsenal in the last game of the season is a good opportunity for revenge after the 7-3 drubbing at the Emirates. Don’t expect that result again, especially if Newcastle have more to play for than the Gunners.

There’s away fixtures at QPR and Wigan that could have an effect on the relegation zone—as well as a home game against Southampton—but other than that, the Magpies play mid-table teams from here on out.

Stoke, Fulham, Sunderland and Liverpool are the other home games remaining, while Swansea, Wigan, West Brom and West Ham make up the rest of the away matches. With good performances, the Toon can win all these games and lift themselves to a respectable position by the season’s end.

As an absolute minimum, however, Pardew should expect 18 points from the remaining 12 fixtures, which would leave them with 45. This should be enough to guarantee safety, write off this year as a missed opportunity and return strong next year.

Don’t rule out some deals in the summer window, either. Ashley wouldn’t be naïve enough to think that this year’s lesson in frugality is a one-off, or that January’s signings are enough to see them through another season.

Would he?

Aston Villa: 5 Must-Win Games to Secure EPL Survival

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-161357378_crop_650x440_zps241a4df1.jpg

It's "cup final" time.

No, not the version where you actually contest a cup final at Wembley, the virtual construction of "big team efforts" in order to drag yourself over the line.

Paul Lambert has come out with the classic "it's 12 cup finals from here" line and he's dead right—Aston Villa need to focus on picking up at least five wins from their final dozen games to secure English Premier League survival.

Let's take a look at their run in.

Reading vs. Aston Villa (March 9)
Aston Villa have a pretty good record against Reading, but records and history go out of the window on occasions like this.

The Villans dealt Brian McDermott's men a sucker-punch in beating them 1-0 at Villa Park earlier this season, and it truly felt like a battle of nerves, tensions and fear.

I expect nothing too dissimilar here (apart from a better Reading side at home), and whoever holds their nerve will do a serious amount of damage to other.

Fans will be hoping for days like this.

Aston Villa vs. QPR (March 16)
Aston Villa and QPR can't stop drawing.

Their last three meetings in the English Premier League have been ties (1-1, 2-2 and 1-1) so expect goals, but perhaps don't expect anything other than a share of spoils.

Despite the recent history, this game will be a fixture both teams feel they really need to win. It would see QPR gain invaluable ground on its rivals, while it would also see Villa even further clear of 20th.

For Villa, this game comes the weekend after the Reading encounter. Talk about pressure.

Aston Villa vs. Fulham (April 13)
Last season, Andi Weimann helped secure survival for Aston Villa by scoring his first ever league goal in the final minute at home to Fulham.

Barry Bannan's shot from distance was parried into the danger area by Mark Schwarzer, and poacher extraordinaire Weimann was on hand to execute a peculiar, crab-like finish.

A goal is a goal, and if the game goes the same way in April 2013 Paul Lambert will be a happy man.

Between Villa's games at home to QPR and Fulham, Ron Vlaar and co. face Stoke City, Manchester United and Sunderland. These are tough asks, and Villa could feasibly go three weeks without a win.

This makes the Fulham game all the more pivotal.

Norwich vs. Aston Villa (May 4)
It just seems that Paul Lambert knows how to get the better of certain managers.

Brendan Rodgers is one, as Aston Villa's 3-1 victory at Anfield in December 2012 will attest, and that theory should carry over to former charges of his.

Lambert knows Norwich like the back of his hand and has already impressed against them twice this season. The home tie saw Villa ahead before Joe Bennett's red card altered things, and the 4-1 win at Carrow Road in the Capital One Cup was mightily impressive.

With the Canaries slipping down the table at breakneck speed, this match could end up having dire consequences for the loser.

Wigan vs. Aston Villa (Final Day of the Season)
Anything is better than succumbing to the same 3-0 scoreline Aston Villa did in December at Villa Park, but it feels like the fixture computer was being especially mean when it drew this one out.

Final day of the season, Wigan host Villa.

At least one of these teams will still be fighting to survive, and if they both are then expect the Lancashire hospital's heart trauma ward to be incredibly busy that day.

If Paul Lambert's men win five fixtures they'll reach 39 points, which is just about enough to stay up in principle. The odd draw here and there could see them over the line, but five wins from 12 games seems a must.

Tense times.

kalo Aston Villa dipastikan degradasi, Benteke pasti jadi incaran klub2 EPL ato Eropa neh, secara dia adalah top skor Villa saat ini. performa Villa menurun tapi gol Benteke malah nambah

5 Reasons Harry Redknapp Can Save Them from Premier League Relegation

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-159718766_crop_650x440_zps98af45f3.jpg

However the Queens Park Rangers' 2012-13 season finishes up, they have been far better for it having had Harry Redknapp at the helm of the London club.

Winless through their first 16 matches of the year and seemingly lost at sea in terms of consistency and on-field production, the former Tottenham Hotspur manager's arrival at Loftus Road has had a profound impact on the club and the players within it.

So much so that it could just lead them out of relegation this season.

Doesn't seem likely? Perhaps. But here's five reasons to believe that Redknapp can achieve survival in the top class this year for the Queens Park Rangers.

1. Premier League Experience
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-161142371_display_image_zps7827a177.jpg

Arguably the biggest drawing card that Redknapp brings over several other managers of smaller clubs in the Premier League is his vast experience throughout the English competition.

He has coached teams in various situations, with various strengths and in various competitions, making him well-equipped to handle whatever current climate the London club are in at the moment.

At Tottenham in 2009, Redknapp helped Spurs turn around from winning just two points in their first eight games to finishing inside the top 10. Obviously. he had a better squad and more time to turn the year around, but still, his proven ability to get the job done even when the chips might have seemed against him continue to hold him in good stead at Loftus Road.

He's been in "unwinnable" positions before and won, and will be convincing many at the London club that their season can still be saved and that survival can be attained.

How to do that and how to make those around you believe that comes from experience, which is a huge advantage that Redknapp has over many other managers in the league.

Team------Pos.-------Manager---- -------Experience---------------------------Major Titles
Wigan-----17th--------Roberto Martinez----3 seasons (Swansea City, Wigan Athletic) -
Aston Villa--18th-------Paul Lambert--------7 seasons (Livingston, Wycombe Wanderers, Colchester United, Norwich City, Aston Villa) -
Reading----19th--------Brian McDermott----6 seasons (Slough Town, Woking, Reading) -
QPR--------20th--------Harry Redknapp----26 years (Bournemouth, West Ham, Portsmouth, Southampton, Portsmouth, Tottenham Hotspur, Queens Park Rangers---------FA Cup (2008)

2. Activity over the Transfer Window
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-159658073_display_image_zps568d785a.jpg

With their season on the line, Redknapp knew that the Queens Park Rangers must be active in the 2013 winter transfer window to nab some key players.

Their squad simply wasn't performing. If they wanted to stay in the top flight, they needed to spend money, which they duly did to the tune of £21 million under Redknapp's careful guidance.

He brought in Loic Remy to give them some attacking edge, and Christopher Samba to solidify them defensively. Jermaine Jenas and Andros Townsend were also both free loans that gave the London club some much-needed spark in midfield and the depth to become competitive against some of the top teams in the Premier League.

Redknapp's ability to get the big-name players to join a struggling club might just be the difference between relegation and survival this year for the London club, especially if it comes down to just one or two goals on the final day of action like it did for QPR last year.

3. Performances in Big Games
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-162429603_display_image_zps2c9f242b.jpg

Up until Queens Park Rangers' 2-0 home defeat to Manchester United this weekend, the Rangers had not lost a home game to any team inside the top six of the league this year.

Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton had all struggled in their trips to Loftus Road, as had several teams at the bottom of the ladder. The 18th- and 19th-placed Aston Villa and Reading in particular had walked away with draws to their name.

That simply goes to show that since Redknapp's arrival, QPR have become much better at turning up for the big games against the the big clubs in the league, but also against those closest to them in the relegation race.

From their 11 games against teams in the bottom half of the table, QPR have lost just three times. By comparison, Aston Villa have lost six and Reading five.

If they are to avoid relegation this year, Rangers need to start winning games against the teams around them and not dropping easy points at home, something they've become much better at since Redknapp's arrival at the club, and something they'll no doubt continue to do.

4. Remaining Schedule
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-155452760_display_image_zps94144b8b.jpg

Last year, QPR hit the magical 35-point season mark with a string of strong performances late to avoid relegation from the Premier League, which is something they'll be looking to repeat here.

Rangers won five of their last 10 matches—picking up a crucial 15 points—and very nearly picked up more against Manchester City, as we all know. And they weren't exactly against easy teams either, with home wins over Swansea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham giving QPR a huge boost.

Looking at the 2013 schedule remaining for QPR, achieving relegation and hitting around the 35-point mark is certainly no easy feat, but it is possible. You'd think that even 32 points would place Rangers in a real chance for survival, which means that they need 15 points from their last 11 matches.

Just like last year.

It won't be easy, but QPR have already shown that it's possible. And with a better squad and Redknapp at the helm, they might just do it again in 2013.

Games against teams in the bottom half remaining:

Southampton----15th--A---2nd March
Sunderland------14th--H----9th March
Aston Villa------- 18th--A---16th March
Fulham-----------11th--A----1st April
Wigan Athletic----17th--H----7th April
Reading----------19th--A----28th April
Newcastle United--16th-H----12th May

5. X-Factor
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-156959912_display_image_zpsa884e298.jpg

At the end of the day, what Harry Redknapp brings to QPR will never be known, for it will perhaps not quite be revealed in the performances that the London club deliver in the remainder of 2013.

Whether they achieve survival or not, Redknapp has done a remarkable job to even get the club to where they are now. From there, it seems, everything else is a bonus for the former Spurs man—and everything can only be considered a gain for the London club as well.

Redknapp could well be the X-factor that QPR need to survive this year—much like how Adel Taarabt can be their X-factor player on the pitch during the season.

He has the experience and guile to succeed in the Premier League, but has also built himself a squad that is strong enough and deep enough to make a real run at survival.

If he can instill the self-belief and garner momentum among the players, there's no telling how QPR will finish off the 2013 season. Few expected that they'd start the year with 16 winless matches, and there might be plenty more surprised with how they end the year as well.

Either way, it won't be because of a lack of trying from Redknapp.

Relegation Watch: Most Important Battles of the Premier League Weekend

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-158403078_crop_650x440_zpsc423de22.jpg

There are just six games this Premier League weekend, and four of the bottom five teams are all involved in the action.

With just 10 games remaining, the relegation zone is starting to become a very anxious place to be and the fight is well and truly on.

With Queens Park Rangers winning and Southampton, Aston Villa, Wigan and Reading all subsequently losing, this now means there are just four points between bottom and safety.

But what does this weekend have in store? Let's find out!

Queens Park Rangers vs. Sunderland
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-162956209_display_image_zps9ed1c600.jpg

Sound the trumpets, Queens Park Rangers have another win.

Their victory against Southampton was much needed, in terms of points, morale and to use as a stepping stone for the coming matches which all, in theory, should be winnable.

Sunderland visit Loftus Road on Saturday, and they are a team starting to show cracks. Not having won since January 19 and losing three of their last five matches, Martin O'Neill's side are in poor form right now.

Of course, form is temporary and can change at any given moment, but there will be a glimmer of hope in Harry Redknapp's eye as the Black Cats travel southwards, and this could be QPR's chance to climb off the bottom for the first time since Christmas.

Then again, Rangers' form is as shaky as a three-legged-cat. And nothing is ever certain when it comes to the Rs.

Norwich vs. Southampton
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-157090498_display_image_zpsd78e16de.jpg

When hosting QPR last weekend, Southampton had the chance to navigate themselves away from the drop zone. But with the aforementioned victory for the West Londoners, the Saints are starting to be dragged into the fight that is ensuing at the bottom.

Norwich City are just eight points clear of the bottom three, but it is their home form which is keeping them in the safety of mid table for now.

Six wins at home, including those against Everton, Manchester United and Arsenal shows that Carrow Road is not an easy place to visit. And this could well be two losses on the bounce for Southampton.

The Saints gifted Norwich the win last time they met, with a Paulo Gazzinga mistake. They'll be hoping Artur Boruc doesn't follow in his footsteps on Saturday.

Reading vs. Aston Villa
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-162960228_display_image_zpsbc7b3b5c.jpg

With Wigan Athletic looking to extend their cup run at Everton on Saturday, that paves the way for one of these two teams to move out of the drop zone at least for now.

The term "six-pointer" will be shoveled into most articles when talking about the remaining fixtures by most journalists, and I hate to follow the trend but this really is a one of those.

One point and one place separates these two sides, and either of them have the chance to grab a huge win in terms of the fight for safety.

Reading, being at home, have the slightest of advantages. But having conceded 10 goals in their last four home games, their leaky defense could well be exploited by the irrepressible Christian Benteke.

QPR, Southampton and Wigan will all be looking at this match praying for a 0-0 draw. But with such uncertainty surrounding both back lines at the moment, there could be goals in this game. And it will just be a case of where lady luck is shining to determine who gets the most.

Gw kan selalu hati2 bro, makanya ga pernah menilai absolut, selalu dgn ' GW RASA' yg nunjukin itu opini gw :)

Opini gw sebenernya ga ada sangkut paut ama game nanti bro :p :D Itu opini gw ngeliat gmn mereka musim ini. 5 match terakhir kalah, ga home ga away. Tim dgn rekor kekalahan terburuk musim ini bareng wigan.

Tim 10 besar musim ini yg bisa dikalahin cuma everton ama wba doank, musim ini jg ga pernah menang dgn skor meyakinkan. WARNING: History shows changing your manager this late in the season only leads to one thing... RELEGATION! (so, the Championship beckons for Reading)

By Martin Domin
PUBLISHED: 12:18 GMT, 14 March 2013 | UPDATED: 13:19 GMT, 14 March 2013

Reading's decision to sack Brian McDermott this week was greeted with a mixture of shock and disgust.

Having guided the Royals to the Championship title last season, the 51-year-old was given little money to spend over the summer and leaves the club with a realistic chance of avoiding an immediate return to the second tier.

But perhaps the Reading owners should have done their research before pulling the trigger - nine clubs in the relegation zone at this stage in the season have swapped bosses and NONE of them have survived the drop.

Here, Sportsmail trawls through the archives to show why Reading are surely doomed.

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/03/14/article-2293226-189230A8000005DC-812_634x347.jpg
Game over: Brian McDermott was sacked by Reading with just two months of the season remaining

CRYSTAL PALACE (1997-98)
OUT: Steve Coppell
IN: Attilio Lombardo
Coppell was moved upstairs at Selhurst Park when Mark Goldberg took control of the club, leaving Lombardo and his interpreter Tomas Brolin in charge. The Italian claimed taking the job was akin to being 'run over by a lorry' and his spell in charge was not far off a car crash as the Eagles fell to earth with a bang.

Down and out: Italian Attilio Lombardo was unable to save Crystal Palace from the drop

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY (1999-00)
OUT: Danny Wilson
IN: Peter Shreeves
The Owls were seven points from safety when Wilson was axed in March. Lying second bottom in the table with just five wins all season, Wednesday turned to Shreeves but he was unable to prevent relegation despite winning three of his nine games in charge.

Paying the price: Danny Wilson was jettisoned from the hotseat at Sheffield Wednesday

WIMBLEDON (1999-00)
OUT: Egil Olsen
IN: Terry Burton
Wimbledon had just slipped into the relegation zone when Olsen was given his marching orders with two games remaining. Burton took over but a draw against Aston Villa and defeat to Southampton condemned the Dons to the drop.

Pack your bags: Egil Olsen was sacked as Wimbledon manager with just two games of the season remaining

LEICESTER (2001-02)
OUT: Dave Bassett
IN: Micky Adams
Technically, Adams took the reigns after Leicester's relegation was confirmed following defeat to Manchester United in early April but the decision to replace Basset was taken before the Foxes were doomed. Adams was unable to make much in the final games of the season.

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/03/14/article-2293226-004E580C00000258-338_634x371.jpg
Dream team? Micky Adams and Dave Bassett both tried and failed to safe Leicester City from the drop

SUNDERLAND (2002-03)
OUT: Howard Wilkinson
IN: Mick McCarthy
Wilkinson was in charge for less than six months when he was removed from his position at the Stadium of Light. His record of just two wins from 20 Premier League games left Sunderland rooted to the bottom of the table and with little hope of avoiding relegation. And so it proved as McCarthy failed to stop the rot and the club were relegated with then-lowest points total of 19.

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/03/14/article-2293226-005C4E4800000258-368_634x377.jpg
Disaster: Howard Wilkinson won just two of his 20 games in charge of Sunderland before he was sacked

WEST HAM (2002-03)
OUT: Glenn Roeder
IN: Trevor Brooking
Roeder was forced to step down temporarily after suffering a brain tumour with three games of the season remaining. Brooking took seven points from those games, including wins over Manchester City and Chelsea but it wasn't enough to save the Hammers from the drop with a record 42 points.

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/03/14/article-2293226-0063311100000258-270_634x436.jpg
No choice: Glenn Roeder was forced to step down as West Ham boss due to illness

NEWCASTLE (2008-09)
OUT: Chris Hughton
IN: Alan Shearer
Newcastle were forced to replace Kinnear in February when he took ill before the Magpies' match against West Brom. Hughton stepped in and earned a 3-2 victory but was replaced himself by Alan Shearer on April 1 after a barren run of form. Toon legend Shearer was unable to work his magic however, winning just one of his eight games in charge.

Bad move: Not even club legend Alan Shearer could save Newcastle from relegation to the Championship

HULL (2009-10)
OUT: Phil Brown
IN: Iain Dowie
Brown was placed on gardening leave on March 15 as Hull slipped towards relegation from the Premier League. The Tigers were three points from safety with nine games to go when they made the decision and replacement Dowie won just one match in charge as Hull were relegated with one game remaining.

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/03/14/article-2293226-09694233000005DC-141_634x428.jpg
Through the trapdoor: Iain Dowie was unable to reverse Hull's fortunes when he replaced Phil Brown

WOLVES (2011-12)

OUT: Mick McCarthy
IN: Terry Connor
In what will go down as one of the most baffling dismissals in Premier League history, McCarthy was sacked on February 13. Despite having won just once in 19 matches, Wolves were only in the relegation zone on goal difference. But if McCarthy's sacking was hard to believe, the decision to appoint his assistant Terry Connor took the biscuit. He failed to win any of his 13 games in charge, taking four points from a possible 39 as Wolves were sent hurtling towards the Championship.

Big mistake: Terry Connor failed to win a single game after taking over from Mick McCarthy at Wolves

Are Newcastle Too Good to Go Down?

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-162505244_crop_exact_zps26eba382.jpg

Having spent the vast majority of his career at St. James Park, defender Steven Taylor is one of the few players remaining in the squad who were relegated in 2008-09. As such a loyal servant and integral part of the club, he should be a good barometer for the current mood within the club.

Fortunately for Magpies fans, Taylor is feeling confident in his side's ability to defy the drop. The Sun quotes:

"I look around the dressing room at the players who I train with every day and what I am sat around is top-class.

"This definitely makes me believes we are going to do well.

"We are not looking down—we are looking up.

"We are looking at who we can catch and chase."

The implication appears to be that The Toon Army are too good to go down.

But is this the case?

After a home victory over Stoke three games ago, manager Alan Pardew felt confident in his side's survival chances. They were, after all, nine points clear of the relegation zone.

Yet two games and two defeats later, Newcastle now have a cushion of just three points keeping them from their second visit to the Championship in five years. No. 17 Wigan are just three points behind with a game in hand, while weekend wins for West Ham and Southampton have done them no favours.

Pardew still exudes an air of confidence, insisting they are still on course to reach his safety target of 40 points.

But the margins are getting much tighter.

With 33 points on the board, Newcastle have four more points than they did at this stage of the season when they went down in 2008-09. They also have a host of excellent French speaking imports on the roster, a fiscally sound stable operation and almost certainly the loudest stadium in the Premier League.

The Magpies have seven games left to reach Pardew's target of 40 points. Two wins and a draw will do it.

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-163883221_crop_exact_zps1b6ab4be.jpg

If results against those final seven opponents match the corresponding fixtures from earlier in the season, they will earn two wins and two draws and a final tally of 41 points. The only 20-team Premier League season in which this amount of points would not have been enough was 2002-03.

Yet Newcastle's run-in will be far from plain sailing.

Next up is a visit from Fulham, who are unbeaten in five league matches and have only lost once to Newcastle in their last seven attempts. The following week they welcome Sunderland for what could be one of the most crucial Tyne-Wear derbies in years. The Black Cats are also fighting for survival, and may be buoyed by the fiery passion of controversial new manager Paolo Di Canio.

After a trip to West Bromwich, a visit from a resurgent Liverpool side awaits. Then a potentially tricky trip to Upton Park. The penultimate game of the season is a visit to QPR. If the Hoops haven't been cut adrift by that point, they will be fighting tooth and nail to retain their Premier League status.

On the final day of the campaign, Newcastle will receive no quarter from an Arsenal side who should be pushing for Champions League football for the sixteenth consecutive season.

Nobody at the bottom of the table has an easy run-in; however, one would imagine Newcastle should be able to pick up at least two wins: at West Brom and against QPR.

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-165107955_crop_exact_zpsdd5641fb.jpg

Also working in favor of Newcastle's "too good to go down" ethos is the fact that a few teams below them are probably too bad to stay up!

For all their merits, Sunderland have played some dreadful football this season. They are also overly reliant on top scorer Steven Fletcher.

And save for a few flashes of brilliance, Aston Villa have given their fans a dismal ride in this campaign. They lean heavily on Christian Benteke, who has provided 44 percent of their league goals.

At the start of April in 2009, a threatened Newcastle United appointed club legend Alan Shearer to guide them to safety in their final eight games. He took charge of the team in 18th place, and, with a single win in his tenure, was unable to move them from that position on the final day.

By contrast, this season Newcastle are a better side with much more stability, and at least two teams below them who are more worthy candidates for the drop.

It would be arrogant to suggest Newcastle are too good to go down, but Alan Pardew and Steven Taylor's optimism is certainly not unfounded.

The Cost of Relegation: 5 Reasons to Stay in the EPL

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-114195104_crop_650x440_zpsddb24797.jpg

With around six weeks to go before the end of the Premier League season, the battle to avoid relegation is getting more and more frantic.

Supporters of Reading, Queens Park Rangers, Aston Villa, Wigan and Sunderland face a nerve-wracking time as they hope and pray their sides can pull off the great escape.

It's not just those teams in and around the relegation zone that are nervous.

Fans of Newcastle, Norwich, Stoke, Southampton and even West Ham will not be totally relaxed about their chances of being in the top flight next season.

Relegation always feels like the worse thing in the footballing world.

This year will definitely feel like that as the new, bumper, TV deal starts next season.

In 2012/13 the relegation stakes have never been higher.

Here are some key reasons why you don't want to drop out.

Missing out on the New TV Deal Windfall
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-111927167_display_image_zpsaae5f860.jpg

The announcement in late 2012 of a new TV rights deal for the Premier League confirmed just how much it means to be part of the action from next season.

The £5 billion contract to televise Premier League games domestically and around the world will see the 20 top-flight clubs get more money than ever before.

Even if your side gets relegated at the end of the 2013/14 season, it will still pick up around £60 million.

To put that into some context, that is what Manchester City got for winning the title in 2011/12.

Wolverhampton Wanderers finished bottom last season and still went away with nearly £40 million.

Added to that is the prize money which, last season, was around £750,000 per place.

To soften the financial blow of going down, each relegated team receives "parachute" payments.

At the moment that figure is £48 million over four years, with £16 million paid out in the first two years and £8 million in the following two (providing a club is not promoted).

Even if your side bounces back at the first attempt, that is still a shortfall of at least around £45 million.

Crowds Will Fall
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-111509572_display_image_zps63b67ef5.jpg

It stands to reason, you'd think, that relegation would put a big dent in attendances.

With the best will in the world, selling a home game with Barnsley is not quite as easy as one with Manchester United.

With ticket prices across the country rising and attendances, generally speaking, falling for all but the most successful clubs, the battle to get more bums on seats has been a long standing one.

Relegation from the Premier League is going to have an impact as Wolves, Bolton and Blackburn all experienced when they dropped out in 2011/12.

Wolves' crowds have dropped by 20 percent, Bolton's by nearly 30 percent and Blackburn's almost 40 percent in the Championship in 2012/13.

That loss is offset slightly by the increased number of home games in the Championship, but relegated clubs can expect a loss of several million pounds over the course of a season out of the big time.

Loss of Commercial Revenue
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-150170746_display_image_zps489d8414.jpg

No-one likes to be associated with a loser, right?

In football, where commercial revenue is one of the main lifelines for clubs, that's certainly the case.

Selling sponsorships and advertising and attracting corporate interest all becomes much harder once you're no longer part of the Premier League circus.

Sponsors often have "relegation" clauses in their contracts with clubs that sees them pay less in the advent of the club going down.

Add all that up, across the commercial board, and you're looking at a loss of up to £4 million, as recently reported in The Daily Telegraph.

The Wage Bill Will Become Crippling
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-160527210_display_image_zps4faae957.jpg

Of all the clubs battling to stay in the Premier League this season, Queens Park Rangers have the most to feel jittery about.

They spent £23 million on bringing in Loic Remy and Christopher Samba in January, as well as signed Jermaine Jenas and Andros Townsend on sizeable wages.

Samba's deal in particular has caused controversy with his four-and-a-half-year package reportedly worth around £20 million.

With Remy not far behind Samba's £100,000 per week, the financial oblivion that beckons for the club is obvious for all to see.

It seems unthinkable that neither Remy nor Samba would have joined Rangers without a release clause in their contracts enabling them to leave should the club go down.

That is all very well, but the problem with finding a new club is, who is going to match their wages?

The nightmare scenario for QPR is that, even if pay cuts are agreed to by the players, the shortfall in revenue in the Championship will mean their financial model will crumble.

And then what?

The Ultimate Nightmare: Administration
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-141972083_display_image_zpsb8c3e7a0.jpg

The Premier League is not all about milk and honey.

For some clubs, their flirtation with the big time and their gamble to stay in it has had a devastating effect.

The golden road of the Premier League is littered with the remains of clubs who have lost everything trying to live the dream.

Nine clubs have gone into administration within five years of being relegated from the top flight, while a number of others have avoided it by a whisker.

Portsmouth are one of the most vivid, recent casualties.

FA Cup winners in 2008, they now teeter on the very edge of extinction following relegation from the Premier League in 2010 and a further drop into League One in 2012.

During that period they went into administration twice in three seasons due to persistent financial problems.

They are likely to fall into the bottom division of English football at the start of next season when, ironically, the new mega-bucks TV deal begins.

The price of all that? Pretty immeasurable.

So getting relegated from the Premier League will, at the very least, cost a club around £50 million.

That's a best-case scenario.

It could end up costing them their very existence.

Queens Park Rangers: What Relegation from the Premier League Could Cost Them

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-155452586_crop_650x440_zps90d58d41.jpg

With six games left to play, the chances of Queens Park Rangers avoiding relegation from the Premier League look slim.

The club are seven points from safety and have won only four games all season.

Manager Harry Redknapp is doing his best to sound confident over their chances of staying up, but the reality seems to suggest a return to the Championship is inevitable.

QPR have been in the bottom three since the third week of the season, and their record against teams in the top and bottom halves of the table is lamentable (via football365.co.uk).

Only five wins out the their last six games (and preferably six) would give them any hope of avoiding the drop.

Recent failures to beat fellow strugglers Aston Villa and Wigan look like being fatal for the Rs, whose chairman and major benefactor, Tony Fernandes (above), must wonder what he has got himself into.

If the club are relegated, what can Fernandes expect next season?

A £50 Million Hole Blow in the Budget
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-105993116_display_image_zps3cdc81b7.jpg

The 2013-14 Premier League season will be the most lucrative ever.

A new TV rights deal is worth £5 billion and will give each of the 20 Premier League clubs an enormous £60 million slice.

Losing out on that by being relegated will hit the three teams that go down very hard.

Each will receive, by contrast, "only" £16 million in compensatory payments from the Premier League, leading to a shortfall of approximately £45 to £50 million.

A Bunch of Unhappy Players
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-163415720_display_image_zps3100a1f6.jpg

If spending money was a cast-iron guarantee of success, Queens Park Rangers would be challenging for Europe instead of fearing relegation.

Tony Fernandes oversaw huge financial investment in the squad last summer and again in the January transfer window at the start of 2013.

Loic Remy (above) has weighed in with six goals in eight games (via soccerbase.com) but has only finished up on the winning side twice.

Christopher Samba has not had the impact his wages and transfer fee demanded, and the same could also be said of Esteban Granero, Rob Green, Ji-Sung Park, Junior Hoilett and Stephane Mbia. The list goes on.

If the team goes down, what does Fernandes do with all those players on massive salaries?

The likes of Remy, Samba and, dare I say, most of the other costliest recruits will have relegation-release clauses in their contracts, but finding someone to pay comparable wages will be difficult.

Players out of contract will leave, and those coming back from loans, including Joey Barton, Anton Ferdinand and Djibril Cisse, will have to be either tolerated or paid off.

That will cost, either way.

More Investment Will Be Needed to Win Promotion
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-144785015_display_image_zps9b24c84b.jpg

Getting relegated from the Premier League is one thing. Trying to win promotion back is quite another.

Any side that goes down faces an inevitable exodus of players and, while that reduces the wage bill, more money has to go into the team to build a side capable of going straight back up.

West Ham managed to return to the elite the season after relegation, but they didn't do it on the cheap.

Losing millions in TV revenue, gate receipts and sponsorship, co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold had to inject a further £30 million to give the team the chance of winning promotion (via Sky Sports).

Even then, they did so by the skin of their teeth in winning the Championship playoff final at Wembley.

Queens Park Rangers would face a similar commitment to mount a serious promotion challenge.

They'll Probably Have to Have Another Manager
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-165195550_display_image_zpsdda832c8.jpg

Queens Park Rangers have had three managers since January 2012. That tells you much about the chaotic year or so the club have had.

The future of current boss Harry Redknapp will be the subject of as much speculation as the players if the club goes down.

Redknapp has said he'd like to stay at Loftus Road if they are relegated, but as much as you admire the sentiment, you have to wonder whether he would really relish a scrap in the Championship.

After all, it was not that long ago that Redknapp was the toast of Tottenham and the people's choice to be the next England boss.

Will he, at 66, want to fight his way back into the spotlight?

If not, QPR face more disruption in building again under yet another new manager.

The Future Will Be Fraught and Uncertain
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-111660354_display_image_zps8d848ad4.jpg

All of the stresses and strains that come with relegation from the Premier League will be suffered under an atmosphere of uncertainty.

While the finances are being juggled, a team has to find a way to start winning again.

Tony Fernandes has been big enough to accept responsibility for Queens Park Rangers' failings this season and has suggested he would be happy to step down as chairman.

Although that won't affect his financial commitment, another new face with new ideas is probably the last thing they need.

QPR's debt is thought to be around £90 million, so the major financial investors at the club have to stay, because the future without them doesn't bear thinking about.

Norwich City: 3 Massive Games for the Canaries to Save Themselves

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-166503209_crop_650x440_zps9a46e7cf.jpg (http://s178.photobucket.com/user/bu7che/media/zudo1/hi-res-166503209_crop_650x440_zps9a46e7cf.jpg.html)

It’s fair to say that the Arsenal defeat has left a bad taste in the mouth of most Norwich City supporters. It was a game where the Norfolk side more than matched their more illustrious opponents for the majority of the match, and a game that they might have won without the officials intervening.

Nevertheless, it was always going to be a big task to take even one point away from Arsenal. Norwich would have gone into that game more in hope than expectation. It is now time to move onto three games which should secure Norwich’s place in the Premier League for next season.

It’s crunch time for the club as they look to pull clear of the relegation zone, but there is no more room for error, particularly in the home games against Reading and Aston Villa. The Stoke away game is certainly also an interesting one.

So, let’s review the three upcoming games.

Reading (Home)
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-166656638_display_image_zps25661624.jpg (http://s178.photobucket.com/user/bu7che/media/zudo1/hi-res-166656638_display_image_zps25661624.jpg.html)

I think we know that Reading are certain to be relegated and have simply left too much to do. However, it’s difficult to know in what frame of mind they will come to Carrow Road. They may think that the pressure is now off, and they can come and express themselves. However, they could equally decide that they would just like to avoid another defeat.

On paper, Norwich should take care of business with a nervy win, but this game is not played on paper. And if it were, then Sunderland wouldn’t have beaten Newcastle to throw an almighty spanner into the works.

This one looks to me like the easiest one to win, especially considering that Reading’s situation is so bleak. However, let’s not forget that the Canaries have won just once from the last sixteen games. I think the chances of the Canaries getting a positive result largely depend on the approach that Chris Hughton takes.

I think to a large extent, he has to go for it in this one and grab an early goal to settle the nerves. It was another passive first half from Norwich against Arsenal, and it was a similar story against Swansea.

Therefore, I have some fear that it will be a poor first half from Chris Hughton’s men. I can only imagine the groans around Carrow Road if Reading were to have the lead at half time. There is absolutely no doubt that this is a vital game that the Canaries really need all three points from.

Stoke City (Away)
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-166588769_display_image_zpse1652b64.jpg (http://s178.photobucket.com/user/bu7che/media/zudo1/hi-res-166588769_display_image_zpse1652b64.jpg.html)

Stoke now look like they might be the third team relegated from the Premier League and are in a serious mess. They are currently bottom of the table and have lost five of their last six games, so Norwich might be out to put more misery on them.

However, let’s remember that the Canaries don’t have the best away record and have won just one league game on the road all season. They also don’t have an awful lot of goals on them, so all in all a draw here looks the most likely result.

The key thing about this match is not to lose it; it’s very similar to when we played Wigan a few weeks ago. The problem is if you’re trying to draw a match, it often leads to actually losing it, so Hughton will have to manage that carefully.

Aston Villa (Home)
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-166502541_display_image_zps121bd56b.jpg (http://s178.photobucket.com/user/bu7che/media/zudo1/hi-res-166502541_display_image_zps121bd56b.jpg.html)

Of the three games, this is the one that I fear the most. Paul Lambert will be up for this game, as he proved when the sides met in the Capital One Cup. Aston Villa can be a very dangerous side when they are in the mood.

Unfortunately, Villa have looked well and truly in the mood over the last few weeks, and we know about the talents they have in attacking areas. This will be a tense game and a big test for Chris Hughton. Let’s just hope that he can avenge the defeat that his side suffered in the cup.

I can’t help but being nervous about these run of games; they could well and truly save or break the season. My big fear is fail to beat Reading, getting the same again at Stoke and then losing against Aston Villa. A scenario that will certainly leave everyone feeling nervous, but we all hope that instead we get the points required to pull clear.

Big Fish in Small Ponds
By Bolatotal, 18 April 2013

Big fish in small ponds, they said.

Relegation Watch: Most Important Battles of the Premier League Weekend

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-166586392_crop_650x440_zps6ccd2d86.jpg (http://s178.photobucket.com/user/bu7che/media/zudo1/hi-res-166586392_crop_650x440_zps6ccd2d86.jpg.html)

There are two types of teams embroiled in a Premier League relegation fight at this stage of the season: teams that are on the rise, and teams that are on the slide.

This week we feature the latter.

Wigan Athletic, Aston Villa and Newcastle all escape this week, as with all three teams picking up at least six points in their last five games could be considered as finding a bit of form.

But there are three teams whom have had a such a poor run of form, they find themselves being dragged towards the battle at the bottom. And sliding down towards the Championship.

With just five games left for the following teams to save themselves, they need to turn their fortunes around by picking up points. And this needs to start this weekend.

So which teams are hoping to stop their current slide? Read on to find out.

Sunderland vs. Everton
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-165106185_display_image_zps79153077.jpg (http://s178.photobucket.com/user/bu7che/media/zudo1/hi-res-165106185_display_image_zps79153077.jpg.html)

One team which may well have started that upward trend is Sunderland.

Their superb win against North East rivals Newcastle last weekend was the first three points they had picked up in the league since January 19 against Wigan Athletic. And they will need to build on that when they host Everton on Saturday.

But with the Toffees not having lost in six matches and still fighting for a Europa League spot, this could be a tall order for Sunderland.

The Wearside team have an entertaining manager in Paolo Di Canio, and he seems to be rubbing off on the team judging by their performance against Newcastle. And they will need more of that passion and determination they showed last weekend for Sunderland to pull themselves away from 18th position.

Currently sitting in 15th, Sunderland may find themselves just one place above the drop zone come the end of the weekend if they lose and if Wigan, Aston Villa and Stoke pick up maximum points.

And then it will take more than a couple of wonder goals in their remaining games to save their Premier League status.

Queens Park Rangers vs. Stoke
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-165109881_display_image_zpsbd10143e.jpg (http://s178.photobucket.com/user/bu7che/media/zudo1/hi-res-165109881_display_image_zpsbd10143e.jpg.html)

Speaking of Stoke, they travel to the home of the expensive but poorly performing QPR on Saturday.

Tony Pulis has done wonders with Stoke City, helping them reach the Europa League last season, but this time around it has been a very different story.

Stoke's style of play has been called into question before, but manager Tony Pulis has defended it vehemently. However rugby team or not, it is their failure to score goals that is the biggest cause of concern.

Their minus-13 goal difference may be second best in the bottom eight, but having scored just 28 all season, it is similar to that of a relegation candidate's record. Just ask Queens Park Rangers.

Stoke's last win was against Reading in February, and they will be looking to Loftus Road as a ground they can take all three points away from.

And with games coming up against Sunderland and Norwich after this weekend, if the Potters can get a run together now, they may well just save themselves—and Tony Pulis' job.

Norwich vs. Reading
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-166502714_display_image_zps7bff840f.jpg (http://s178.photobucket.com/user/bu7che/media/zudo1/hi-res-166502714_display_image_zps7bff840f.jpg.html)

And Norwich are the final team to find themselves slip sliding away towards the Championship.

Ordinarily you would not consider 14th place as belonging to a club in a relegation fight, but after six games without a win, Chris Hughton's side find themselves in a slump.

With bottom of the table Reading traveling Eastbound to Carrow Road, this could well be the turning point in the Canaries' season, and they will need to take maximum points from the game.

Reading having lost seven of their last eight look favorites to fall in this match too. But the Royals themselves saw a change in fortunes—albeit slight—when they held Liverpool to a draw last weekend.

This promises to be the relegation match to watch with both sides desperate for a win. Not because Reading have a chance to pull themselves back towards safety, because according to the bookmakers, they can't. Odds have already been removed for backing the team to avoid relegation.

But because Norwich have dropped from eighth place in a matter of months—and if they fail to win here—they look likely to drop even further.

Reassessing the English Premier League Relegation Battle with 4 Games to Go

With four games to go in the English Premier League, the relegation scrap remains as unpredictable as ever.

Recent wins for Sunderland, Norwich City and Stoke City threw a spanner in the works for Aston Villa and Wigan Athletic's hopes of leapfrogging them, and this weekend's fixtures will go a long way toward shaping the end of the season.

Read on for the latest assessment of the battle.

QPR and Reading

Had Aston Villa beaten Manchester United on Monday night, Queens Park Rangers and Reading would have been automatically relegated from the English Premier League.

That's how close they are to dropping out of the league, and not even the wildest fans of either club are expecting to do the impossible.

With both sides playing Championship football next season, one last slot remains at the bottom of the table.

Wigan Athletic
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-167097444_crop_650_zps91661b0a.jpg (http://s178.photobucket.com/user/bu7che/media/zudo1/hi-res-167097444_crop_650_zps91661b0a.jpg.html)

Currently occupying 18th spot in the English Premier League is Wigan Athletic, who sit three points from safety but boast a game in-hand on their relegation rivals.

Wigan have turned a corner at the right time (again), continue to play some scintillating football and have an FA Cup final to look forward to.

Roberto Martinez, though, will be worried; Wigan players will have their hearts set on a day out at Wembley, and you would only forgive them for ducking a few challenges the game before the event.

Due to the FA Cup run, Wigan have a had a bit of a fixture pile-up and they've lost their last two on the trot. They host a Spurs side who just beat Manchester City next.

Aston Villa
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-166502444_crop_650_zpse50ab586.jpg (http://s178.photobucket.com/user/bu7che/media/zudo1/hi-res-166502444_crop_650_zpse50ab586.jpg.html)

Sitting in 17th, just three points above the dreaded drop-zone, is Aston Villa.

Paul Lambert's side were lucky to avoid a humiliation on Monday night, conceding just the three goals as Manchester United claimed their 20th top division title.

They face a real cruncher against Sunderland on Monday night at home, and if they can claim yet another precious three points against a relegation rival, things will start to look seriously rosy.

Lose that game, and the fans are looking down the table, not up.

Newcastle United, Stoke City and Sunderland
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-167097423_crop_650_zps87eb39f5.jpg (http://s178.photobucket.com/user/bu7che/media/zudo1/hi-res-167097423_crop_650_zps87eb39f5.jpg.html)

Newcastle United, Stoke City and Sunderland are all on 37 points and, it could be argued, just one win each away from survival.

A total of 40 points looks all but certain to equal relief this season, but only one of these teams could be considered a lock to grab another win.

Newcastle have the talent, but they're not churning out wins; Stoke beat a Queens Park Rangers side last weekend, but it was clear Harry Redknapp's side had waved the white flag already; Sunderland look resurgent under Paolo Di Canio and appear pretty safe.

Week Fixture
35 Stoke City vs. Norwich City
35 Aston Villa vs. Sunderland
36 Norwich City vs. Aston Villa
36 Sunderland vs. Stoke City
Looking at the fixture list, the next two weekends could shape it.

Norwich City
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-167099522_crop_650_zps36761798.jpg (http://s178.photobucket.com/user/bu7che/media/zudo1/hi-res-167099522_crop_650_zps36761798.jpg.html)

Norwich City currently sit 13th in the English Premier League table, and fans of the club reckon they're pretty much safe.

Barring a disaster, they are, but they do struggle to win games and remain just four points off Aston Villa in 17th. Chris Hughton's side still have Stoke City and Aston Villa to play, then finish the season away to Manchester City.

As stated, it takes a horrible sequence of events to see the Canaries relegated, but when you're four points above 17th, you are categorically not safe.

Verdict
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-167098496_crop_650_zps91590da2.jpg (http://s178.photobucket.com/user/bu7che/media/zudo1/hi-res-167098496_crop_650_zps91590da2.jpg.html)

So who's going down?

Reading?—check. Queens Park Rangers?—check. The third slot? Still wide open, I'm afraid.

Calls that the battle to avoid 18th place is solely between Aston Villa and Wigan Athletic are premature and incorrect: A win for Villa sees them level with 14th place, then they travel to Norwich the week after.

Two incredible, but not unrealistic, victories will see the claret and blue side safe, but football isn't simple, and we all know it.

Despite Stoke's win last weekend, there's genuine credit to the theory that if they hadn't played a thoroughly deflated and defeated team they would not have claimed a priceless three points.

The Potters still look very vulnerable, but Wigan Athletic must be the favourites.

They have a game in-hand but they have to win it, and their schedule looks pretty daunting: Tottenham, Manchester City, Arsenal, Swansea and West Brom precede the deadline day "big 'un": Aston Villa at home.

Harry Redknapp Stays but Queens Park Rangers Can't Afford Another Expensive Fail

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-167713055_crop_exact_zps4bcdb05f.jpg (http://s178.photobucket.com/user/bu7che/media/zudo1/hi-res-167713055_crop_exact_zps4bcdb05f.jpg.html)

Queens Park Rangers officially tumbled out of the Premier League on Sunday along with Reading after the two sides drew 0-0 at the Madejski Stadium.

Neither side can complain about their demise after disappointing seasons in which a change of managers has not helped their cause.

The Royals removed Brian McDermott on March 12 in a desperate bid to lift themselves out of the relegation zone and Nigel Adkins, who had been sacked by Southampton for similar reasons in January, took over two weeks after his predecessor left.

Reading owner Anton Zingarevich claimed McDermott was axed for not spending enough money during the January transfer window (via The Sun).

That is not an accusation which can be thrown at Queens Park Rangers, where Harry Redknapp has agreed to stay on after relegation.

Figures announced in March revealed that wages had doubled in their first season back in the top flight (via The Guardian), even before their massive spending in January in a bid to remain in the Premier League.

The heavy spending in January ultimately came to nothing as QPR and Redknapp failed to hold on to their place among England's elite.

QPR have been at the centre of much controversy this season. One source of frustration for the team has been Joey Barton's season-long departure to Olympique de Marseille last summer after his 12-match ban for events at Manchester City on the final day of last season.

Joseph Barton ✔
Joey7Barton
Gutted for the club. To many wankers amongst the playing staff. All brought in by Hughes. Some good lads but not enough. Too many maggots
9:24 PM - 28 Apr 2013

The midfielder has never been slow at voicing his opinions via his Twitter feed, Joey7barton, and referred to some QPR players as "maggots" after their relegation was confirmed.

Redknapp conceded before the game at Reading that splits in the QPR squad had not helped his team's fight against relegation (via The Guardian).

Those fractured relationships appeared in a story in The Mirror in March concerning a midseason trip to Dubai, which had been designed for sorting the team's problems out but ended up only severing the connections further.

Redknapp railed against the story after the team rallied to a 2-1 win at Southampton (via BBC Sport), but the wounds were now opened.

Neither QPR nor Redknapp can move forward with such fractious relationships in the dressing room, and there must be fear that unless several players are moved on, the spectre of Wolves' current demise could be repeated.

Greater concerns could be that QPR could follow the path of Portsmouth and their financial woes since dropping out of the Premier League after going into administration in 2010 (via Daily Mail).

The Fratton Park side will play in League Two next season after finishing bottom of the third tier in English football this season.

The signing of defender Christopher Samba underlines the malaise QPR have found themselves in. The former Blackburn man arrived in January from Anzhi Makhachkala in a deal worth £12.5 million (via The Guardian).

However, a day after the team dropped out of the top flight, Samba conceded he was not prepared for playing in the Premier League (via Sky Sports).

QPR will benefit from a parachute payment to help their drop into the Championship next season (via BBC Sport) but the club must move swiftly to offload the big earners in the squad to avoid financial problems further down the line.

So where does the blame lie for QPR's demise this season? Is it with Redknapp, former manager Mark Hughes or the club owners? A mixture of all three would be a fair summary.

There may be some cause for celebration with the news that Redknapp is staying on (via BBC Sport), but QPR fans must be questioning the wisdom of sacking Neil Warnock in January 2012.

The former Sheffield United and Crystal Palace boss had guided the club into the top flight just over a year after being appointed in March 2010. He lost his job with the club a point above the drop zone, but was not afforded the opportunity to turn their fortunes around.

Instead, Fernandes and the board turned to Hughes and the path of big spending in a bid to stave off the spectre of relegation last season.

Redknapp will be aware that such a financial gamble will not work in the Championship, where hard work and team spirit is the only way back to the top flight.

Wigan's Survival Dream Now a Distant Hope After Loss to Swansea

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-168250921_crop_north_zps3165e526.jpg (http://s178.photobucket.com/user/bu7che/media/zudo1/hi-res-168250921_crop_north_zps3165e526.jpg.html)

Ever since Roberto Martinez has been the manager of Wigan Athletic, the struggle to stay in the English Premier League has been a yearly theme at the DW Stadium.

In the last three seasons under Martinez, the Latics have survived to play another season in the English top flight, but after their loss to Swansea on Tuesday night at home, the luck of the Latics may have finally run out.

The 3-2 loss to Swansea kept the Latics in 18th-place in the table with 35 points. As of now, Wigan are just three points behind the trio of Newcastle, Norwich and Sunderland and four points behind Southampton.

With four clubs within reach before the season closes up shop on May 19, there is still a possibility that Wigan could stay in the EPL, but there are plenty of things going against them at the moment.

While the clubs ahead of them in the relegation race will be fighting for their top-flight lives over the weekend, Wigan will not because of their participation in the FA Cup Final against Manchester City on Saturday.

Playing in such a prestigious event at the end of the season usually gives the participating clubs a glimmer of hope in a season that is lost.

But for Wigan, the FA Cup Final is just a distraction to their hopes. By playing at Wembley on Saturday, the Latics will be forced to play three matches in an eight-day span.

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/hi-res-168250681_crop_exact_zps3ab8c96b.jpg (http://s178.photobucket.com/user/bu7che/media/zudo1/hi-res-168250681_crop_exact_zps3ab8c96b.jpg.html)

After facing the assumed onslaught of the Manchester City attack on Saturday, the Latics will make a trip to North London to face an Arsenal club that are fighting for their own life in the race for the final UEFA Champions League spot.

If that was not enough to frighten fans of Wigan, they could be fighting for survival on Tuesday at the Emirates Stadium depending on how the weekend results pan out.

On Sunday, Norwich and Newcastle face very winnable matches against West Brom and Queens Park Rangers, respectively, while Sunderland and Southampton square off at the Stadium of Light.

If Norwich, Newcastle and Sunderland all come out of Sunday as victors, nothing less than a win over Arsenal would keep Wigan in the survival fight.

If, and it is a big if, the Latics pull off the unthinkable and defeat the Gunners, they would have to face a suddenly resurgent Aston Villa side at home on the final day of the season.

Even if the Latics find a way to win their final two matches, they are not in the clear due to goal difference.

Currently, Wigan sit at -23, a mark that is shared by Newcastle. Norwich is at -22 on goal differential, while Sunderland (-12) and Southampton (-11) should keep their advantage unless they are blown out in their final two matches.

With everything going against them at the moment, if Wigan somehow pull off another great escape, they will have accomplished the impossible.

Final 2 matches at the end of season yg mendebarkan ...

Roberto Martinez vows Wigan will bounce back from relegation

Roberto Martinez has vowed that Wigan will be back in the Premier League after a 4-1 defeat at Arsenal condemned the FA Cup winners to relegation.

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w257/bu7che/zudo1/martinez_2892709_zps18d39a86.jpg (http://s178.photobucket.com/user/bu7che/media/zudo1/martinez_2892709_zps18d39a86.jpg.html)

Just three days after lifting the trophy at Wembley with a dramatic victory over Manchester City, the Latics' eight-year stay in the top-flight came to an end in the pouring rain at Emirates Stadium.

Shaun Maloney briefly gave Wigan hope of another great escape as he cancelled out Lukas Podolski's opener, but three goals in eight second-half minutes from Theo Walcott, Podolski and Aaron Ramsey sealed their fate.

Martinez told Sky Sports: "I never expected this to happen. We have an incredible bunch of players at the club, they don't deserve this.

"It is a tough day for the football club. We have had an incredible eight years in the Premier League. We have to take the good things and make sure we build for the future.

"The relegation is really disappointing but it is something that we can rectify. We will bounce back as we always do as we always do at Wigan Athletic.

"The club is on a fantastic financial footing, we are stronger than ever in that respect, our football style and philosophy is something for the long term.

"I am glad that this group of players were able to show what they were capable of - to win the FA Cup is an incredible achievement.

"To win the FA Cup is an achievement that will live forever for the football club and for every individual and especially for the fans."

Wigan were guilty of some dismal defending against the Gunners, with Santi Cazorla laying on all four goals for the home side, with Martinez admitting that his side had been crippled by the injuries they sustained in defence this season.

He added: "We conceded far too many goals. Going forward we have been magnificent, but the amount of injuries that we have had in the backline is something I have never seen before.

"When you have four, five or six players missing from that position, when you keep making changes in the backline, the partnerships suffer and you concede so many goals it costs you points without playing badly."

Yupp.. Benar- benar Ironis!! Padahal babak pertama main cukup bagus.
Sisi positif Angelo Henriquez main tadi dimenit 85 stlh menerima medali FA cup-nya beberapa hari lalu :D
