GOALKEEPER JOINS UNITED FROM FC SLOVACKO

Matej Kovar has joined Manchester United from FC Slovacko, subject to international clearance.

The 17-year-old is a talented young goalkeeper who has already appeared for Czech Republic’s Under-18s on two occasions, highlighting his promising pedigree and excellent potential.

An exciting prospect, Kovar has signed a professional contract with the club and will soon join the ranks of the Academy, specifically with Kieran McKenna's impressive Under-18s team.

LOAN MOVE AGREED FOR UNITED KEEPER KOVAR

Manchester United Under-23s keeper Matej Kovar has joined League One newcomers Swindon Town on loan for the 2020/21 season.

The 20-year-old, who was on the bench for the Europa League tie against Astana last year, embarks on his first temporary move away from the club following a successful season for Neil Wood’s side, which saw them achieve promotion.

Kovar joined United in 2018 from FC Slovacko and has featured 45 times in competitive games, across the Under-18s and Under-23s, keeping 13 clean sheets in the process.

The Czech Republic Under-20 international will now join up with former United Academy player, and current Swindon Town manager, Richie Wellens as he embarks on his first experience of regular senior football.

It has been a busy week for United’s goalkeeping department with Dean Henderson signing a new contract until June 2025, with the option to extend for a further year, on Wednesday.

Kovar is the third player to make a temporary move away from United during the window following Tahith Chong and Aliou Traore. The process enables the club’s young players to benefit from facing senior opposition on a regular basis.

Everybody at United would like to wish Matej the best of luck this term as we will follow his progress at the County Ground.

Manchester United keeper Matej Kovar set to stay at Old Trafford despite Martin Dubravka's imminent arrival and loan interest from Sunderland and Salford City

* The Czech Republic U21 international had looked likely to depart the club
* Erik ten Hag recently strengthened his options by signing Martin Dubravka
* Sunderland and Salford City were among teams keen on signing Matej Kovar

Manchester United goalkeeper Matej Kovar looks likely to stay rather than go out on loan today.

The Czech Republic U21 international has had interest from Sunderland and Salford City in recent weeks and was expected to depart following Martin Dubravka's arrival from Newcastle United.

However, the 22-year-old is set to stay for the first part of the season and increase competition among Erik ten Hag's keepers along with Nathan Bishop.

Kovar is yet to make an appearance for United's senior team and has spent the last two seasons out on loan at Swindon Town and Burton Albion.

Matej Kovar is set to stay at Manchester United rather than go out on loan this season. Kovar will stay despite Martin Dubravka agreeing a deal in principle with the Red Devils. The U21 Czech Republic international is yet to feature for Manchester United's senior team

Bishop, also 22, had interest from Cheltenham and Wycombe earlier in the summer but has been kept at United and is continuing to train with the other first team keepers Tom Heaton and David de Gea.

United are looking to loan out Northern Ireland international midfielder Ethan Galbraith, 21, who had a spell at Doncaster last season and has had interest from Crewe and Scottish side Hibernian.

Centre-back Will Fish, an England U19 international, is also one that United are willing to allow out to gain competitive game time experience. Both have been involved in Ten Hag's first team training and friendlies pre-season.

United have had enquiries for full-back Brandon Williams but he is recovering from injury.
