OK, before everyone uses this thread as an english "Junk Yard".... how about I start a topic for everybody to discuss.... (ONLY IN ENGLISH)

The purchase of Manchester City by an Abu Dhabi United group suddenly made City one of the richest clubs in the world. City's surprise £32.5m swoop of Robinho from Real Madrid on dead line day last season was perhaps the beginning of an uprise from the blue side of Manchester. Sure enough this season Manchester City began shoping for players as if there was a sale in the departement store.

With the Arrival of players such as Carlos Tevez from neighbouring club, Manchester United, Santa Cruz from Blackburn, Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Adebayor from Arsenal, Wayne Bridge and Sylvinho from Chelsea and Joleon Lescott from Everton, City seemed set to push their way into the Big four and may even challenge for the Premier League Tittle this season.

A good start to the campaign has been established by Mark Hughes Sky Blues by winning their first five game, which included in it the 4-2 destruction of Arsenal at the City of Manchester Stadium which also displayed the shere determination of one Emmanuel Adebayor scoring against his former team.

Manchester unbeatable start was finaly put to an end by the champions at Old Trafford, and even then City did not let their record slip easy. Owen's late-late goal in deep injury time was the end of City's winning start. But despite the defeat, City players and supporters are now keen and believe that they are a far better team than what they were last year.

The big question now is.. "Can Manchester City actually push into the big four? and if they can, at which club expense? pundits and critics have all put Arsenal name down to be the team replaced by Manchester City this year. Is that realy the case? and an even bigger question is can Manchester City actualy win the Premier League? they certainly now have the quality to do so"

What Manchester City is going through this season is almost like what Chelsea went through when they won their back to back titles in 2005 and 2006 , will City share the same path as Chelsea? and with Peter Kenyon now with City, can this actually be Manchester City year?

anyway, let me share my opinion about this topic..

i think, despite the amount of money spent, City made great decisions on the transfer window and on their new season policy overall... nowadays, money, is the ultimate key to gain success for mediocre teams... historically, they will never be able to compete teams such as United, Liverpool, and Arsenal.. so, a sudden change must be made.. a radical yet progressive move must be taken to gain attention and momentum... the objective is to let people see that they are a serious contender for the championship and have a big plan for building a better team.. that way, top class players would come and play for them for they know the club have a strong will to run for champions and have the money needed... Chelsea showed us that.. as we can see the formula is having quite an excellent impact for the club.. at least people will not underestimate them anymore.. that provides a good mental basic for the players and fans...

so, to answer the question, "Can Manchester City actually push into the big four?"..

i say yes, they certainly can.. they have the right ammos, the right manager, and the momentum... and if they get lucky, they might continue doing so for years to come... and who will be the unlucky team being replaced..? i will say Liverpool... and this is a subjective statement :peace:

City showed that they're pretty good (till last week) but replace the big four is not an easy thing 2 do. Whomever be replaced, it would never be our United, we had show City that fact!! :peace:

silverware..? maybe.. but not the Premiership... they might have a chance in Carling Cup and FA Cup, but not the league...

they may take the same path as Chelsea did, but still there are differences that separate the two.. the Mourinho factor is one of the big differences they have.. his character and intelligence is decisive.. so far, i haven't see that in Hughes...

to win the league, a team must have consistency... and to have consistency, they must have a good depth of squad and a winning mentality.. squad depth can be easily covered by the money they have.. buat mentality is a different thing.. often we witnessed, teams that does not cracked under pressure are teams that already have a winning history.. a champions mentality... a team that know exactly what to do in a difficult situation.. and that my friend, is what City lacked of....

To respond to Opa Ron's and Robby's feedback, yes a significant money investment is becoming a major factor in the hunt for trophies and silverware, this is true even for our beloved Manchester United.

Looking back to the early years when we were still known as Newton and Heath, the club was in serious debt and was nearly declared in a state of bankruptcy. even the former Newton and Heath football ground was at one time closed because of failing to pay their operational fees.

If it was not for a certain gentleman name John Henry Davies, the managing director for Manchester Breweries at the time which then became the club chairman invested a sizeable ammount to the club and thus cleaning Newton and Heath FC debts and also ended Newton and Heath and replaced it's name with Manchester United Football Club in April 26th 1902.

With the change of name, JH Davies also abandoned the green and gold colours of Newton and Heath and thus the Red and White was chosen in replace of the old colours.

but, money alone can not create a massive club, or at the very least win you trophies, other factors come into play, factors such as a good manager, staff, players, etc. United also went through these rough patches and before 1908 where United won their first League trophy, United too was just a mediocre team.

and please do not forget that one major factor of United winning the league title in 1907/1908 was due to the great performance of William Henry "Welsh Wizard" Meredith and Sandy Turnbull, who was brought in from Manchester City!!

Billy Meredith appeared in 37 games and scored 10 goals for United the season United won their first trophy.

The succses of United was slow but it offered United a solid foundation to becoming a massive club in the end.

Manchester City how ever does have a solid history and are a respectable club themself, history have not put them in the brightest headlight in recent years but maybe that will soon change for the Citizens.

WILL CITY BREAK IN TO THE BIG FOUR?

This season 2009/2010 - I do strongly believe that they may break into the big four this season, they certainly have brought in players that are capable to bringing the club into the big four, and most importantly, Mark Hughes bought players that have already played in the Premier League, which allows the players signed to fit into the club instantly, which also gives Hughes an easier task of just gel-ing the players without the hastle of getting the players to addapt to the hustle and bustle of the Barclays Premier League first.

The prove of this is the great start that they have had in their first five games. The new players instantly gel and played well for one another. The defeat at United's hand was a step back for them, but even this defeat in the hands of their closest rivals is still acceptable, seeing how emotions and the massive build up towards the derby.

another factor that may come into play in the later stage is the former Chelsea and Man United Director Peter Kenyon, both Chelsea and United have tasted the genuine ability of Kenyon in picking players for transfers, and this factor will play a great role in December, where City are likely to strengthen more their line up in the second half of the transfer dead line.

The name of the game for the Premier League is consistency, United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Blackburn have all won the Premier League because they were consistent contender from the very start. Liverpool and Newcatle were the only two team that have played consistently through out the season without winning the league.

Who will be replaced at the top four come the end of the season? despite my great hatred toward Liverpool FC, I doubt that Liverpool will be replaced at the bIg Four, and Chelsea have certainly got a strong and solid squad. Arsenal are the likely victim to be replaced by Manchester City in the fourth or maybe third spot, seeing how Arsenal have always managed to drop points during December and the second half of the league in the past 3 years. If Manchester City can be consistent and rotate well during the December - January periode, it's not impossible for Manchester City to replace Arsenal in the big four and -I hope not- even challenge Manchester United for the Premier League Trophy. :peace:

Day 983 of my captivity.

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates my capabilities. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am. Jerks!

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage. Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow, but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released, and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird must be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now.
