Salford City have signed a five-year kit deal with Umbro as the Class Of '92 continue to prepare the club for the Football League.

The news comes as a further boost to Salford City who are set to play in the FA Cup first round for the first time in their 75-year history on Friday.

Salford City's FA Cup victory was watched by 3.5m viewers... 900,000 more than when Manchester United hosted Liverpool

* Salford City faced League Two side Notts County in the FA Cup first round
* The non-League side's win was watched on the BBC by 3.5million viewers
* Viewing figures were 900,000 higher than Manchester United v Liverpool
* Co-owner Gary Neville described the winning occasion as 'unbelievable'

An astonishing 3.5million people tuned into BBC2 last Friday night to watch Salford City's FA Cup victory against Notts County.

The huge figures make it the most-watched domestic game so far this season – beating Manchester United's win against fierce rivals Liverpool by a whopping 900,000.

With viewing numbers buoyed by the Class of 92 documentary, The Northern League Premier Division part-time side put in a performance during their first game at this stage of the tournament.

As they, with co-owners Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and both Gary and Phillip Neville watching on, served up an FA Cup shock against Notts County

Danny Webber and Richie Allen scored the vital goals to send League Two County out, leaving Gary Neville clearly chuffed with what he witnessed at Moor Lane.

'That was unbelievable. It puts faith back into you, it's what football is about,' the former Manchester United defender admitted after the game.

Gary Neville, who owns a 10 per cent stake in Salford City, was left jubilant with the victory against County

'The FA Cup takes a battering but tonight epitomises what it is all about. I've not had a moment like that for a few years.'

Salford have been rewarded with yet another home fixture – this time against Hartlepool United.

Struggling 'Pool, who are currently languishing near the bottom of League Two, booked their place in the second round with a narrow victory against Cheltenham.

Salford City's second round FA Cup clash with Hartlepool will be shown on BBC Two

* Non-League Salford beat League Two Notts County in FA Cup first round
* Class of 92-owned club have been drawn against Hartlepool in round two
* Their clash at Moor Lane will be shown on BBC2 on Friday December 4

Salford's FA Cup second round tie against Hartlepool will be broadcast live on BBC Two on Friday December 4 at 19:55.

The part-timers from the Northern Premier League Premier Division - who are co-owned by former Manchester United players Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs, Phil Neville and Nicky Butt - beat Sky Bet League Two side Notts County 2-0 in the first round.

The match at the 1,400 capacity Moor Lane was watched by a peak audience of some 3.5million.

BBC lead executive for football Mark Cole believes Salford's story has captured the imagination of the viewing public.

'There is clearly a real interest from the audience in Salford's progress and whether a team from the seventh tier can make it to the third round for the first time in their history,' he said.

Salford will be on television again in the second round with their clash with Hartlepool airing on BBC Two

'We are delighted to have the stand-out fixture of the second round, live on BBC Two. It kicks off a busy weekend of FA Cup programming including Football Focus live from non-league Stourbridge on Saturday ahead of their tie with Eastleigh, Final Score showcasing all the goals from all the games on Sunday and the FA Cup draw live from Cardiff on Monday night.'

Other ties chosen for live televised coverage by BT Sport are Rochdale versus Bury on Sunday December 6, kick-off at 12:00, and Grimsby against Shrewsbury, which will be played at 7.45pm on Monday December 7.

Eight of the remaining second round ties will be moved to December 6, confirmation of which will be announced at a later date.

Re: Salford City

Gary Neville's appointment as Valencia boss will not impact on Salford City, insists club's chairwoman Karen Baird

* Gary Neville has been named new manager of Valencia until end of season
* Ex-Manchester United defender also owns 10 per cent stake in Salford City
* Karen Baird says it will not impact on the day-to-day-running of the club
* Salford City chairwoman says Valencia are lucky to have Gary Neville

Salford City chairman Karen Baird is confident the club will not suffer for co-owner Gary Neville's appointment as Valencia boss.

It was announced on Wednesday that Neville will take charge until the end of the season at Valencia, who are owned by Singaporean businessman Peter Lim.

Lim also has a 50 per cent stake in non-league Salford, with the rest split between Neville and four of his fellow 'Class of 92' members; his younger brother Phil Neville - a coach at Valencia since July - plus Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes.

Salford have thrived so far since the quintet of ex-Manchester United players completed a takeover in 2014, earning promotion from the eighth tier to the seventh last season, and Baird admits Gary Neville has been a driving force in the success.

She also says she was surprised to hear the news of his fresh role in Spain - but has dismissed any suggestion he will not have enough time any more for The Ammies.

'I think we'll obviously see him a lot less, but I'm sure he will be on the phone and emails as much as he always has been,' Baird said.

'To be honest, we do everything day-to-day at the club anyway, so nothing will change for Salford there, and I'm sure he'll watch all the highlights and feed back to us - and we'll do the same for him!

'He has always juggled everything, and he is giving up his Sky Sports (analyst) job (while keeping his coaching role with England). So it's a loss for them!

'He can't do things by halves, so he will still be involved with us, definitely.

'He's very passionate about it and it's nice that he is as passionate as we are about the club, which I don't know if we ever thought he would be.'

Regarding how she encountered the news, Baird said: 'I found out on Monday and I was quite surprised. He told me after he had made his decision.

'But it is a massive opportunity for him. I think it is a great step - I don't think he could turn it down really.'

Baird said she was hopeful Neville would still be attending Friday's FA Cup second-round home clash with Hartlepool.

And she added: 'I think he'll be a very good manager. He knows what he is talking about. I think they are lucky to have him.'

Bernard Morley, who co-manages Salford with Anthony Johnson, can only see the news as a potentially good thing for the club.

'If that is the type of job he is going to get, it can only stand us in good stead, with the connections and experience he'll gain - hopefully he'll pass it down to me and Jonno,' Morley said.

'His emails and phonecalls will probably be even more than before, and the only thing is that you won't see his face as much.'

Salford City and Class of 92 to return to TV screens after second series is confirmed

* Salford won the Northern Premier League Division One North last season
* The club and their famous five owners are set to return to TV screens
* The first series, shown on BBC, follows the ups and downs of Salford

Salford City and their famous five owners will return to television screens after the second series of Class of 92: Out of their League was confirmed.

The first series, shown on BBC, followed the ups and downs of Manchester United legends Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, and Gary and Phil Neville.

Salford were crowned Northern Premier League Division One North champions last season but two of their owners have since left for Spain and the spotlight continues to be shone on the club.

Class of 92: Out of their League is to return to TV which will track the club owned by Phil Neville (from left to right), Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville and Paul Scholes

The new two-part series will air later this year.

Patrick Holland, head of BBC documentaries, said: 'The original series took us to the heart of a community where much was at stake as the new owners took over.

'Not only was it hugely entertaining, it also explored the often difficult relationship between tradition and progress that resonated with the wider audience.

'We are very excited to return to Salford for another season of highs and lows.'

Salford currently sit fourth in the Northern Premier League Premier Division.
