Reports in Brazil suggest a deal has been agreed for the 30-year-old defender that will see the player arrive at Old Trafford before the end of January.

Media outlet Fox Sports Brazil tweeted the news after it was unveiled by journalist Gustavo Villani on Tuesday afternoon.

United have struggled defensively this season and with the futures of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand still up in the air it seems that David Moyes has moved to bring in an experienced reinforcement.

Fox Sports had previously reported United's interest in Dante and report the player saying: "I'm happy with the Manchester United interest, my agent is keeping me informed about it."

But in the wake of the latest reports, the player insisted they were premature and said: "Not yet. I'm sticking with Bayern Munich and appreciate Manchester United's interest. At the end of the month everything is defined."

Bayern Munich's Dante has confirmed Manchester United's interest in signing him this month.

David Moyes is in desperate need of a new central defender with questions marks surrounding the futures of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic - pinpointing the Brazilian as a perfect fit.

The 30-year-old wouldn't offer any long-term solutions for Moyes and still has two years left on his deal with the German champions.

When asked if he had signed for United, Dante said 'not yet,' but did indicate that Moyes is keeping tabs on his situation.

'I'm thankful for the Manchester United interest, it will all be sorted out by the end of the month.'

Dante was part of the Bayern side to be dismantled by Manchester City in December, but has a tremendous pedigree on the continent.

Moyes wants to land Chelsea's Juan Mata in the next week as he attempts to bolster a seriously beleaguered squad.

Waahh emang denger-denger pas doi diwawancarai live bilang seneng ya kalo United interest ke dia, terus katanya agennya lagi nego ma pihak United n keputusannya akhir bulan. Well doi udah 30 tahun sih tapi masih peak performance juga. Tambahan yg bagus buat skuad terutama backfour n backline yang lagi keropos banget kayak binatang tanpa tulang belakang hahahaha >:P
