Totti hit with four-match ban
Soccernet - May 10, 2010

Roma captain Francesco Totti has been banned for four Coppa Italia games after being sent off in last week's final.

The Italian football league charged Totti with "unsporting conduct" after the player intentionally kicked Inter Milan striker Mario Balotelli late in the game. Inter won 1-0 to lift the Coppa Italia trophy.

Inter's Balotelli and Christian Chivu have both been hit with one-match bans after being booked in the final for dissent.

Totti received widespread criticism over the incident but bounced back to score two goals for Roma at the weekend to keep his team in the title race, and he has thanked the fans for their support over recent days.

"I dedicate my brace to all the people who have been close to me," he said. "The Olimpico was really magnificent. There was so much affection for me in a moment that was really difficult.

"I thank you with all my heart. I thank the colours that have always been close to me and the many people who wear the Roma shirt today. To you, my team-mates and all of those people who live for Roma, I say only one thing: we believe until the end."
