Default Re: Haruskah Ole dipecat?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is SAFE from the sack at Manchester United as Old Trafford chiefs back him to turn the club around (even with their worst points tally at this stage in 30 years)

* Manchester United were beaten 2-0 at home by Burnley on Wednesday night
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer quickly became the bookmakers' favourite in the sack race
* However, United's owners and board have no intention of getting rid of him
* Solskjaer has now overseen United's worst start to a season in over 30 years
* He admitted that he could understand why United fans are 'disappointed'

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not in danger of losing his job at Manchester United, despite Wednesday night's miserable defeat by Burnley.

The Red Devils were beaten 2-0 at Old Trafford by the Premier League strugglers, leading to renewed calls for Solskjaer to be sacked.

But United's board have no intention of getting rid of him, even though the club have their lowest points tally after 24 games in over 30 years.

United could have moved to within three points of fourth-placed Chelsea with a victory on Wednesday night, but instead find themselves six points behind Frank Lampard's men and level on points with Tottenham and Wolves.

Their total of 34 points is the lowest since the 1989-90 season, when they had 25 from 24 games and finished the campaign down in 13th position.

Wednesday night's result meant Solskjaer quickly became the bookmakers' favourite to be the next Premier League manager to lose his job, with the Norwegian odds-on at 8/11 with William Hill.

However, club owners the Glazers and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward have no plans to axe the former Cardiff boss, despite their hopes of reaching next season's Champions League suffering another blow.

They have continued to back Solskjaer, even though he has now lost 12 top-flight games since being given Old Trafford's top job on a permanent basis.

His record since being promoted from caretaker boss to manager in March of last year consists of 19 wins, 11 draws and 15 defeats in all competitions.

Manchester United will not sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer despite losing at home to Burnley. Solskjaer retains the support of the owners, the Glazers. Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is still behind Solskjaer, despite United's abysmal form. Solskjaer is favourite to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked with the bookies

'I can understand supporters are disappointed when times are tough,' Solskjaer said in his post-match press conference.

Asked if there had been signs of progress, he replied: 'Today there wasn't in the end because at the end you do feel disillusioned, as you say, because maybe they do.

'But for us we've just got to stick to our values, stick to our beliefs and knowing that there's no use feeling sorry for yourself.

'We just need to make sure that we try to help the players and the team. The players hear the fans.

'Today wasn't a fair reflection on this group. I can't sit here and do anything but hold my hands up. That's where we're at.'

A chorus of boos rang around Old Trafford along with chants against the Glazers and Ed Woodward as Solskjaer and his players left the field on Wednesday night.

Former United defender Rio Ferdinand admitted his old club had left him 'embarrassed' after the defeat, which was their second in succession after last Sunday's loss against fierce rivals Liverpool at Anfield.

'I'm sitting here embarrassed. It's embarrassing to be here seeing this,' he said on BT Sport.

'You can't defend this. Fans were walking out after 85 minutes. People at the top need to see this and make changes and put a plan in place. Young kids in schools around the country won't be wearing Man United shirts, they won't be wanting to come here and see this.

'Nothing there suggests this is laying the foundation of future. I don't see a pathway. Where's the target set on the wall, saying this is how we're going to get there? Money has been spent willy-nilly in the past seven years, what's to show?'

When asked about the current transfer window, Solskjaer insisted that United, who are still in talks over a £55million deal for Bruno Fernandes, do want to strengthen their squad again before the month is over.

'We're looking to strengthen and we know we have to,' he said.

'We let some players go because we needed to start afresh. We know we need quality and numbers.

'I think everyone can see that these players are being stretched. They are stretched and I have got absolutely no complaints on any of them because they give absolutely everything they've got.'

United are next in action on Sunday afternoon when they face either Tranmere or Watford away from home in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
