United still after Hamsik

Manchester United are apparently still hot on the trail of Marek Hamsik, after one of their scouts was seen watching the midfielder in action. David Williams, a close friend of United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, was at the Napoli-Parma game on Sunday to monitor the young Slovakian.
With Paul Scholes entering the final stages of his glittering Old Trafford career, the United hierarchy apparently see Hamsik as the perfect replacement to take up the goal scoring midfielder role in the heart of the team. He is seen as one of the club’s primary transfer targets either for the January or summer transfer window.
However, they may face difficulty in their pursuit of the talented whizz-kid, with Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis adamant that his star player is going nowhere. “Many clubs have requested Hamsik, it’s true, but he will stay with us for the long-term.”
Despite this denial, it remains to be seen whether or not he would be able to stand in Hamsik’s way if United came in with an offer for the 22 year old.
And with much of the money from the Ronaldo sale still left and assurances from the owners that this money is to be invested in players, it could be just a matter of time before Hamsik pulls on the famous red shirt and walks out onto the Old Trafford pitch.
