Manchester United supporters have voted for Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp to replace David Moyes this summer.
The poll, conducted by Mirror Football, asked fans who should take over from Moyes if the Manchester United board decide to part company with the beleaguered Scot at the end of the season - and a whopping 61 per cent opted for Klopp.
The 46-year-old is widely regarded as one of Europe’s most talented coaches thanks to his exploits with Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park since 2008. As well as guiding BVB to back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2011 and 2012, Klopp also masterminded the team’s run to last season’s Champions League final at Wembley, where they were pipped to European club football’s most coveted trophy by Bayern Munich.
Many Manchester United supporters have lost faith in Moyes over recent months. The Red Devils currently sit seventh in the Premier League table following Sunday’s embarrassing 3-0 home defeat to fierce rivals Liverpool, while they also stand on the brink of Champions League elimination following a shock 2-0 first leg defeat to Olympiakos in Piraeus.
Reports suggest that Moyes has just three games to convince the Manchester United board that he should remain in charge at Old Trafford, while rumours have also surfaced in recent days that Sir Alex Ferguson is considering a shock return to management.
The retired Scot, regarded by many as the greatest football manager of all time, was not one of the options on Mirror Football’s poll. However, 15 per cent - the second highest on the list - voted for current player/coach Ryan Giggs to succeed Moyes at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, eight per cent voted for Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone; seven per cent went for Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal, and just three per cent voted for Juventus manager Antonio Conte, despite his impressive achievements in Serie A over recent seasons.
Elsewhere, Frank de Boer, Fabio Capello and Luciano Spalletti all secured two per cent of the votes apiece.
