Default Re: Donny van de Beek

Ronald de Boer rubbishes reports Donny van de Beek already wants to leave Man United and return to Ajax but admits £40m midfielder is 'not happy' at lack of game time and will have to take stock in the summer

* Reports had suggested Donny van de Beek wanted Man United exit in summer
* £40m Dutch midfielder has only started two Premier League games this season
* Van de Beek has spent most of his time warming the bench for United
* But Dutch legend Ronald de Boer rubbished talk of an exit after just one year
* De Boer admitted Van de Beek isn't happy with lack of game time but will stay

Ronald de Boer has poured cold water on speculation Donny van de Beek wants to leave Manchester United and return to Ajax this summer.

Midfielder Van de Beek has been handed just two Premier League starts by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since signing for £40million last August.

It led to suggestions the Holland international already wants to leave Old Trafford in search of greater game time elsewhere.

Donny van de Beek has struggled for game time during his first season with Manchester United, leading to suggestions he may leave the club in the summer. The 23-year-old has started just two Premier League games under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

But De Boer, who shared the same agent with Van de Beek and is a coach at Ajax, said it wasn't true.

I spoke to Ajax and they said there's no truth in it at all,' De Boer told talkSPORT 2.

'He didn't ask to speak to them. He's just focusing on his recovery on his ankle, and it's not true that he asked Man United to leave.'

However, De Boer admitted that Van de Beek is far from happy with the situation after just 11 starts in all competitions so far during what has been a frustrating first season.

Van de Beek can't play as a No 10 in United's team because Bruno Fernandes has been in outstanding form and he is below Paul Pogba, Fred, Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic in the midfield pecking order.

De Boer added: 'His agent also told me that of course he's not happy that he's not playing.

Ronald de Boer, who shares an agent with Van de Beek, has rubbished suggestions he wants to leave United this summer. The midfielder is said to be frustrated over his lack of game time since his £40million move from Ajax to Old Trafford

'He's only had two [league] starts under Solskjaer and that's not what he hoped for when he joined Man United.

'He's not worried, of course he wants to play every game. But he's not worried that he can't succeed.

'He has to have a review after this year, asking where do I stand? Do I have a possibility to succeed here or not? Otherwise, I have to make a move.

'We will see where he's heading next year, maybe he stays at Man United or maybe another club is interesting for him.

'But he's not panicking at all, he told his agent he's so happy at Man United because the club is one of the best in terms of how they treat him. He feels loved.'

De Boer also pointed out that Van de Beek will need greater game time to fully adapt to the rigours of the Premier League and said the same of his former Ajax team-mate Hakim Ziyech at Chelsea.

He said: 'It's only Fernandes who had no problem to adapt.

'It's not a football thing, it's the physical part. There are so many guys and within two years their physical appearance changes dramatically.

'In Holland, it's nice with the ball but it's not so physical. We have to give him time.'
