Default Re: Ravel Morrison

Former Manchester United youngster Ravel Morrison could extend stay at Swedish side Ostersunds as club reveal they were 'very pleased' with midfielder during four-month stint

* Ravel Morrison could be set to extend his stay at Swedish club Ostersunds
* Morrison only joined in February 2019 and has joined up with Jamaica
* Ostersunds boss Ian Burchnall says the club were 'very pleased' with midfielder

Former Manchester United prospect Ravel Morrison could extend his career in Sweden, according to Ostersunds FK.

Morrison’s current deal runs out at the end of the month and it was understood that he would be looking for his ninth club in seven years after joining up with the Jamaica national team instead of returning to training with Ostersunds after the mid-season break.

But OFK insist that Morrison could be offered a new deal at the Jamtkraft Arena, and manager Ian Burchnall said: ‘We are very pleased with Ravel Morrison’s time in OFK. Now we’ll see what happens in the future. We will talk with Ravel and his agent and see what they are doing.’

Ravel Morrison could extend his stay at Ostersunds according to Swedish club's officials. Morrison joined Ostersunds in February in what is his eighth club in seven seasons

Morrison, 26, has made a total of nine appearances and scored once since joining Ostersunds in February. His last game before the mid-season break was against Sundsvall on June 1, and he did not resume training with the rest of his teammates last Friday.

The former England Under-21 international has travelled to Jamaica for the Gold Cup even though he was not named in the final 23-man squad. Morrison has been posting pictures from the Caribbean as well as a statement in which he didn’t rule out a return to Ostersunds as he ponders his next move.

‘To everyone supporting OFK I have not finished with the club,’ he wrote on social media. ‘But my contract ends in a few days then I have to sit down with my agent to discuss my future.’

Morrison’s career promised so much when he shone alongside Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard as United won the FA Youth Cup in 2011. But left the club after a series of off-the-field problems and has since played for West Ham, Birmingham, Queens Park Rangers, Cardiff, Lazio and Atlas in Mexico.

Ostersunds became his eighth team in the last seven years when he joined Sweden’s most remote club after a training camp outside Marbella in February.

‘I’ve come here to rebuild myself really,’ he said at the time. ‘I want to enjoy it and enjoy football again and win everything we can. It’s exciting and I’m really looking forward to everything that’s in front of me.’
