Manchester United equal the Arsenal Invincibles' 2004 record of 27 league games unbeaten after drawing away at Southampton thanks to Mason Greenwood's equaliser

Manchester United made history on Sunday afternoon at St Mary's Stadium after their 1-1 draw with Southampton.

The Red Devils equalled the Premier League record for the longest unbeaten away run - which was set by Arsenal back in 2004.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side matched The Invincibles's record of 27 league games unbeaten thanks to Mason Greenwood's equaliser after Southampton initially took the lead through an own goal which deflected off Fred.

Manchester United have been known for their impressive form away from home and have traditionally done well at St Mary's - not losing at the ground since November 2003.

The Red Devils will now look to break the record set by Arsenal when they face Wolves in the Premier League next week.

Nevertheless, United must use their away momentum to establish dominance at Old Trafford after a dismal home record last season.

Solskjaer's side officially matched The Invincibles's record of 27 league games unbeaten. The Red Devils will now look to break the record set by Arsenal when they face Wolves

The Red Devils won less than half of their Old Trafford fixtures in the Premier League last season and must improve on such a statistic to be in with a chance of challenging for the title.

Solskjaer said that the reason for his side's poor form at home was due to the lack of fans at the ground last term.

The Norwegian manager he said the absence of their supporters made it hard to differentiate between home and away games.

He believes United will be able to turn their home turf into a fortress once again this season.
