Default Re: About Manchester Derby ...

Zlatan Ibrahimovic could become first Swede to score a Premier League goal in the Manchester derby... but which other nationalities have netted?

* Twenty-one different nationalities have scored in the Manchester derby
* Thirty-eight goals have been netted by Englishmen during clashes
* Manchester United host rivals City at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be hoping to become the first Swede to score a Premier League goal this weekend when his United side line up against rivals City.

The 34-year-old has the chance to write yet another record into the history books as former players Jesper Blomqvist, Henrik Larsson and Bojan Djordjic all failed to feature in a league derby match during their time with Manchester United.

Former City keeper Andreas Isaksson is the only Swede to have played in the Manchester derby during the Premier League era and it will come as no surprise that he failed to score in his two appearances against United.

England have the most scorers with 38 goals being netted by Englishmen during Manchester derby matches over the course of the last 24 years.

Wayne Rooney holds the record with the most goals scored in the north-west derby with the Red Devils captain hoping to add to his eight strikes this weekend.

Paul Scholes is next on the list with five goals while Robbie Fowler, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Darius Vassell all netted twice.

Ten goals have been scored by Frenchmen while Argentina, the Republic of Ireland and Holland all feature high on the list.

Manchester United's Henrikh Mkhitaryan could become the first Armenian to net in the derby

Mikheil Kavelashvili, Benjani and Hatem Trabelsi all scored against United for City to ensure Georgia, Zimbabwe and Tunisia were among the nationalities to have netted in one of England's most-anticipated league fixtures.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Antonio Valencia can put their respective countries on the map with Armenia and Ecuador yet to have a goalscorer in the Manchester derby.

Nigeria, Serbia and Chile could also have a place on the list come Saturday evening if Kelechi Iheanacho, Aleksandar Kolarov and Claudio Bravo, which will be more than highly unlikely, manage to hit the back of the net for City.

This weekend's match at Old Trafford will also see both Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho lead their sides out for a Manchester derby for the first time, another reason why you will not want to miss the action.
