Manchester United are putting together a transfer committee of three ex-players in a bid to ensure the club moves away from the big-spending wasteful approach of the past.
The idea, not dissimilar to Liverpool's transfer committee, was discussed at Carrington with former stalwart Darren Fletcher present.
The former United midfielder is anticipated to take charge of the group tasked with making sure the club avoid signing expensive flops, according to the Sun.

And it appears that United are trying to follow suit having splurged enormous amounts of cash in recent years of instability following Sir Alex Ferguson's reign.

Academy boss Nicky Butt was also in the meeting on Wednesday and Quinton Fortune is being primed to take up a coaching position.
The club want to sign 'Manchester United type players' and feel involvement of former stars will help identify those that fit the bill.
Executive vice chairman Ed Woodward has pledged that there will be money for Solskjaer to spend this summer but only time will tell if the newfangled recruitment strategy pays off.
