CONFIRMED: RASHFORD OUT OF ENGLAND SQUAD

England head coach Gareth Southgate has confirmed Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has withdrawn from the Three Lions squad.

The Reds forward has failed to shrug off an ankle injury in time to face Czech Republic at Wembley on Friday and he will also be absent from the next Euro 2020 qualifier against Montenegro on Monday night.

Despite scoring in the 2-1 Emirates FA Cup quarter-final defeat to Wolves last Saturday, Rashford has been struggling with the problem and is returning to Manchester for more treatment.

“He's been with the medical team all week,” said Southgate at a press conference.

“It's clear to us he's not ready for our matches, so we have sent him back to his club. He is out of the two games.”

Although he worked hard to regain fitness at St George's Park, the 21-year-old will not be able to add to his tally of 6 goals in 31 caps for his country.

With Luke Shaw also forced to return to the Aon Training Complex after initially being called up by England, the United duo presumably could be facing a race against time to be fit for our next Premier League outing - at home to Watford on Saturday 30 March.

Marcus Rashford in line for new deal at Manchester United that could earn England striker a staggering '£78m'

* Marcus Rashford is in line to sign a new deal at Manchester United worth £78m
* The 21-year-old striker will enter the last year of his current contract this summer
* However, Rashford wants a deal similar to what Wayne Rooney was on at the club
* Rashford wants to pledge his allegiance to United by signing for five more years

Marcus Rashford is in line to land a staggering £78million contract at Manchester United after holding advanced talks with the club over a new five-year deal.

The 21-year-old striker is set to enter the last year of his current contract at United in the summer but the club have the option to extend it by an extra 12 months.

With this in mind, Rashford is ready to commit himself to his boyhood team by signing a new deal until 2024 – but he wants similar money to what Wayne Rooney was earning in his last few years at Old Trafford, according to The Mirror.

DC United striker Rooney was earning £300,000-a-week at United before leaving the club for Everton in 2017 and Rashford feels he deserves that deal for stepping up in his place.

The deal will likely see his weekly pay rocket from £80,000-a-week if the club agree with his wage demands.

It would earn Rashford more than £15.8m-a-year and £78m over the course of the huge contract.

Marcus Rashford is set to sign a new deal at Manchester United worth a staggering £78million. Rashford has scored a number of important goals this campaign and is in talks for a new deal. Rashford has found his feet under United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

The England and United starlet has been attracting interest from the likes of Real Madrid in recent weeks but he is set to turn down Zinedine Zidane to pledge his long-term future to the Red Devils.

The proposed deal wouldn't see him become the top earner at the club, though, as Alexis Sanchez earns a whopping £500,000-a-week, while the club are still trying to convince David de Gea to stay at the club.

The Spanish goalkeeper is considered one of the best in the world but he is asking for £350,000-a-week to stay at Old Trafford.

Rashford would appear more of a worthy investment, given his age and current form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The striker has flourished under the Norwegian and has scored several important goals during his short reign thus far.

Rashford scored a decisive penalty against Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16 of the Champions League to dramatically send united through into the quarter-finals.

Barcelona Siapkan Rp 1,8 Triliun untuk Rashford
Novitasari Dewi Salusi - detikSport

Marcus Rashford 'holds off on talks over new deal amid fears Manchester United are not heading in the right direction under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer'

* Marcus Rashford has stalled talks of signing a new deal at Manchester United
* The striker is concerned about the club's direction under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
* United want Rashford to agree to a new two-year extension to his current deal

Marcus Rashford has delayed talks over signing a new contract after citing fears over Manchester United's progress under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The United striker will now 'assess' United's intent on pushing forward this summer before committing to discussions about his future.

The club are keen for the England international to extend his current deal for another two seasons and explored the possibility of opening up talks with him recently.

Marcus Rashford's unsure Man United are moving right direction under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The striker has delayed talks of signing a new deal because of his fear over club's progress

However, according to The Sun, Rashford has informed the club he does not want to enter negotiations due to his concerns over the club's ambitions.

It has also been claimed that Rashford's belief in Solskjaer's capabilities has dwindled over the past couple of months following United's failure to make the top four.

The 21-year-old wants to be playing in the Champions League in the near future and Solskjaer understands investment is required in the summer if United are to improve on their sixth-placed finish last season.

Solskjaer is expected to oversee a mass overhaul next month as he looks to rid his squad of the dead wood and rebuild it with exciting young players.

Rashford is seen as a vital cog in Solskjaer's plans but United are currently at risk of slipping into the same problematic situation they find themselves in with David de Gea, whose contract talks remain at an impasse.

The Spaniard only has one year left on his deal and Paris Saint-Germain are expected to pile the pressure on United to sell by submitting on offer this summer.

Rashford’s contract expires at the end of next season but the club have an option to extend that by a year, which they will trigger if they cannot agree on a new deal.

Rashford: Semoga Tottenham Juara Liga Champions
Okdwitya Karina Sari - detikSport

Default Re: Marcus Rashford

Can Rashford step up to be United's full-time No 9? With Lukaku wanting out and Barcelona showing surprise interest, this is a career-defining season for a striker who MUST up his goal tally

* Marcus Rashford is facing a career defining season at Manchester United
* The 21-year-old only managed a league goal return of 10 after a mixed campaign
* Despite his mediocre form the youngster is reportedly wanted by Barcelona
* With Romelu Lukaku on his way out, Rashford has the chance to be United's No 9

If you believe everything you read in Spanish newspapers, Marcus Rashford is on Barcelona's radar.

That is Marcus Rashford who last season scored 10 goals for Manchester United in the Premier League. Seem like a stretch? It may well be.

But there are two ways of looking at the Wythenshawe 21–year-old's record. The first, if you are of a critical persuasion, is to point out that such a return is a million miles away from the top flight's elite.

Marcus Rashford could be on the verge of a career defining season at Manchester United. The 21-year-old only managed to score 10 goals in the league last season and needs to improve

There was a three-way tie at the peak of the domestic scoring charts between Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane and Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Each of those three managed to net 22 times – more than twice as many as Rashford.

Quote:
MARCUS RASHFORD STATS FOR UNITED

Appearances 18-19: 47

Goals 18-19: 13

Assists 18-19: 9

Total club appearances: 170

Total club goals: 45
Then came City's Sergio Aguero, on 21, Leicester's Jamie Vardy on 18 and both Aguero's team-mate Raheem Sterling and Tottenham's Harry Kane on 17. None of the above would come as a real surprise.

However, a look further down the list would suggest that this was not Rashford's finest year. Everton's Gylfi Sigurdsson and Brighton's 35-year-old Glenn Murray (13) were both above the homegrown forward, as were Burnley's Ashley Barnes and Crystal Palace's Luka Milivojevic (12), not to mention Newcastle's Salomon Rondon and relegated Fulham's Aleksandar Mitrovic (both 11).

There is another way of looking at it.

The perception at Old Trafford is that this was a season ruined by negative tactics and a staggering lack of fitness.

Some have suggested that Rashford's return is down to Jose Mourinho's negative approach. Rashford found form after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer arrived at the club but then tailed off

The Norwegian coach puts the dip in form down staggeringly low fitness levels at the club

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes that the immediate bounce provided when he replaced Jose Mourinho was a result of the players' ability to carry out his high-energy style to a tee.

The Norwegian believes the subsequent cliff fall was down to that lack of fitness hitting home. Around that honeymoon period, Rashford scored six times in eight starts, a return which marked the best form of his career.

Those who believe in Rashford could also point to his England form. Three goals in six games, including a key strike in Spain, would suggest that the player is not the problem. Under Gareth Southgate's guidance, Rashford has often looked reborn on national duty.

His age remains a factor. Given the amount of time he has spent in and around the first team it is easy to forget that this is still a young player. Whatever side you take, there can be no denying that this a huge year awaits. A conclusion will be easier to reach at the end of it.

Unless it was mind games, Solskjaer is confident. Last season, admittedly following prompting from reporters, he challenged Rashford to become United's all-time leading scorer. The current holder, Wayne Rooney, holds that title, with 253 goals.

Solskjaer has confidence in Rashford and challenged him to become the club's leading scorer. With Romelu Lukaku's future uncertain, Marcus Rashford could be the clubs permanent No 9

If that is to be the case then Solskjaer's employers will need to sort out a new contract. Insiders say that the interest from Barcelona amounts to the club monitoring the form and progress of a player who burst onto the scene as a 17-year-old four years ago.

Rashford's existing deal expires next year although there is an option to extend for a further year. Attempts to lengthen his stay with a long-term agreement are currently ongoing.

Solskjaer is keen to get it sorted. He wants to build his team around the likes of Rashford and Paul Pogba. Much will also depend on the situation with Romelu Lukaku. Solskjaer has previously said that he believes Lukaku and Rashford could strike a lethal partnership.

In theory, that makes sense. The Belgian provides the muscle and presence while Rashford adds the pace and panache.

It has not often worked out like that. Lukaku's future remains in the air. Should he go, Rashford is likely to take ownership of the role in the centre, although a look at the scoring charts would suggest that not playing in the middle cannot be used as an excuse.

Fitness will also have an impact. Rashford bleeds United red. There were suggestions on occasions last season that he was playing through the pain barrier when rest may have been a wiser option. If he can stay injury free then his record should improve.

Whatever unfolds, Rashford will need to score more than 11 Premier League goals. This needs to be his year.

Man United Diminta Segera Pagari Rashford
Femi Diah - detikSport

Masa depan Rashford mulai dispekulasikan.

Marcus Rashford close to signing new Manchester United deal worth £200,000-a-week as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's youth revolution gathers pace with Aaron Wan-Bissaka arrival

* Talks with England striker Marcus Rashford are understood to be progressing
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hopeful a deal can be concluded soon for the 21-year-old
* Rashford is now in line for a £200,000-a-week deal to remain at Old Trafford
* Manchester United confirmed the £50million signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Manchester United are confident that Marcus Rashford will sign a new long-term contract at the club before they leave for Australia on pre-season tour.

Talks with the 21-year-old England striker are understood to be progressing well and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hopeful a deal can be concluded soon to build on the momentum of signing Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Rashford, a local boy who scored twice on his United debut aged 17, is regarded as the posterboy of Solskjaer's youth revolution at Old Trafford and he is in line for a bumper pay rise to around £200,000-a-week. His current contract on just over half that amount has two years to run.

United's intention to lower the average age of their squad was boosted on Saturday with the confirmation of £50million signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace.

'It's an unbelievable feeling and an honour to call myself a Manchester United player. Every kid wants to play for a team like this,' said the England under-21 international, who has been dubbed 'The Spider' since reverting from a striker into a right back.

'It's about the range and length of my legs when I'm lunging to tackle the ball. That's where the nickname comes from,' he added.

Manchester United are confident that Marcus Rashford will sign a new long-term contract

A delighted Solskjaer said: 'Aaron is one of the best upcoming defenders in the Premier League. He has the right work ethic, talent and mentality to play for Manchester United and he fits exactly the type of player we are looking to bring into the squad.'

Wan-Bissaka and Rashford will both be involved in United's pre-season tour of Australia, Singapore and China which starts on July 8.

United are quietly pleased with their transfer business so far and are looking at Sporting Lisbon's 24-year-old midfielder Bruno Fernandes and Newcastle's Sean Longstaff as further recruits.

While Solskjaer won't close the door to more senior players, United are reluctant to be drawn into auctions and have baulked at the £80m asking price for Leicester's Harry Maguire while Ajax teenager Matthijs de Ligt, offered £300,000-a-week by PSG, was always believed to favour a move abroad. United moving for thirty-somethings such as Ivan Rakitic and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is also unlikely.

Realistically, Solksjaer believes it will take at least three transfer windows to build the type of squad he wants.

There is a realisation at United that some of the recruitment policy since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013 has been flawed, hence the switch to players with potential that can develop over the long term.

They also expect the transfer market to contract as other big clubs baulk at the sky-high figures being quoted.

The priority to sign up Rashford and make him an integral part of the club's future raises further question-marks over the role of Romelu Lukaku.

Inter Milan are keen on the Belgian striker but United want a permanent deal rather than sending him on loan.

Manchester United tie Marcus Rashford down until 2023 as England striker puts pen to paper on new £200,000-per-week contract: 'This club has been everything in my life'

* Marcus Rashford has committed to Manchester United until 2023
* The England striker remains at the forefront of Ole Gunnar Solkskjaer's plans
* Rashford, who joined United as a seven-year-old, has made 170 appearances
* The 21-year-old has scored 45 goals and created 26 assists in the first team

Marcus Rashford became one of Manchester United’s biggest earners on Monsay — signing a £200,000-a-week, four-year contract worth £42million.

The 21-year-old England striker, an academy product, sealed the deal with the option of an extra year potentially keeping him at Old Trafford until 2024.

Rashford’s wages have increased from around £80,000 a week after a breakthrough in negotiations this summer.

‘Manchester United has been everything in my life since I arrived here at the age of seven,’ he said. ‘This club has shaped me as a player and a person, so it is such a privilege every time I get to wear the shirt.

‘I want to thank the manager and his staff for everything they have done for me. They are the perfect group of coaches to learn from as I continue my development.’

Rashford added: ‘It hurts every day to see where we are now compared to where we’ve been in the past. There’s nothing I want more than to see the club winning the Premier League again, winning the Champions League again.

Rashford will be looking to usher in a new era of glory for the Premier League giants. The England striker has scored 45 goals and created 26 assists in 170 appearances for United

‘Everybody here deserves much, much more than what we’re giving them right now — not only the fans, the club itself.

‘As players, we’re the ones who have the opportunity to try and forget about the past five, six years and put the club back on track.’

Rashford is expected to lead the line during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first full season in charge, with Romelu Lukaku seeking a move to Inter Milan.

‘Marcus is one of the most talented English players of his generation,’ said Solskjaer. ‘He is an outstanding player blessed with natural pace and energy.

‘Marcus is a shining example of the talent that our academy produces and his upbringing means that he truly understands what it means to play for Manchester United.

‘Despite being only 21 years old, Marcus already has great experience. He has a fantastic future ahead of him with the club and I am delighted that he has signed a new contract.’

Lukaku arrived back at pre-season training early on Monday, a couple of days ahead of his anticipated return.

The Belgium international is waiting for progress over his switch to Inter, with the Serie A club so far unwilling to match the £80m United are expecting to recoup.
