Manchester United 'refuse to meet £94million release clause for Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez' amid interest from Barcelona

* Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has attracted interest from Europe's top clubs
* Manchester United have been linked with the striker but have backed out
* United are said to have balked at the £94million valuation of the 22-year-old
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are in for a striker after the sale of Romelu Lukaku

Manchester United have backed away from a move for Lautaro Martinez as club chiefs refuse to meet the £94million release clause in the Inter striker's contract.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are in the market for a striker this summer, having struggled to find an adequate replacement following Romelu Lukaku's departure last summer.

United failed to land long term target Erling Haaland after the youngster signed for Borussia Dortmund, and had to scramble to sign Odion Ighalo on loan in the dying moments of last month's transfer window.

Manchester United have reportedly refused to meet the £94m price for Lautaro Martinez. The Inter striker has attracted interest from Europe's top clubs with his fine form this season

And The Times reports that a move for Martinez is unlikely with the club balking at the Italian giant's valuation of their striker.

The 22-year-old has a £94million release clause that Inter insist must be triggered should any club acquire his services this summer. That clause expires after two weeks of the summer window, but Inter will not budge from that value regardless.

Martinez has been in fine form for Inter in Serie A this season, having netted 16 goals in 27 appearances alongside strike partner Lukaku.

The Argentine is contracted to the club until 2023, so Inter are under no pressure to sell the player over the coming transfer window. Manchester City and Real Madrid have cast their eye over the striker, but Barcelona is the most likely move for Martinez.

The Spanish giants are expected to spend big this summer in a bid to replace the ageing Luis Suarez while doubts remain over the future of Lionel Messi following his public spat with sporting director Eric Abidal.

Barca have been strongly linked with moves for Martinez and Wolverhampton Wanderers star Adama Traore, whom the club sold to Aston Villa in 2015.

Ed Woodward vows Manchester United will splash the cash this summer as he says next transfer window is an 'important opportunity' to seal new talent

* Manchester United will once again spend big in the summer transfer window
* United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has been target of criticism
* Hooded thugs threw flares at his house and scrawled graffiti on gates last month
* Woodward vows club will splash the cash during summer in order to challenge
* The United chief accepts the recent signing of Bruno Fernandes is not enough

Manchester United will spend heavily again this summer after admitting it will take more than the signing of Bruno Fernandes to turn them into title contenders.

Fernandes moved to Old Trafford last month in a deal worth up to £67.8million after United paid £145m for Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Dan James last summer.

United chief Ed Woodward accepts that more investment will be needed to revive Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad, and acknowledged that this summer will be a key period in the process.

Ed Woodward has vowed Manchester United will splash the cash in the next transfer window. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are currently eighth in the Premier League table with 13 games left

In his introductory remarks to a recent fans' forum, Woodward said: 'The signing of Bruno Fernandes and return of key players from injury will be a boost to Ole and the squad as we head into the second half of the season.

'We remain in contention in the Europa League and the FA Cup, as well as for Champions League qualification, so there is still lots to play for.

'However, as a club and a board, we do recognise that we are not yet where we want to be.

'It is the overwhelming priority of everyone at the club to get us back to regularly challenging for Premier League and Champions League titles.

'As part of the rebuild we see this coming summer as an important opportunity.

'There has been no shortage of investment in players over the past few years, with over £200m spent since Ole became manager. Our aim is to ensure that we continue to achieve consistency in quality of recruitment.

'Bruno Fernandes and the players we brought last summer are evidence that our process is the right one.'

Manchester United and Arsenal 'keep tabs on Hartlepool goalkeeper Brad Young' after teenager receives England call-up

* Brad Young has been attracting attention with his Hartlepool performances
* The young goalkeeper has recently been rewarded with an England call-up
* Manchester United and Arsenal are reportedly keeping tabs on his progress
* Young signed his first professional deal with Hartlepool last summer

Manchester United and Arsenal are reportedly set to battle out for Hartlepool's highly rated teenager goalkeeper Brad Young.

Young, 17, has been earning the attention of elite clubs after a string of impressive performances for his club.

Now, after receiving a first call-up to the England youth ranks, old rivals United and Arsenal are keeping close tabs on the situation, as report the Sun.

Man United and Arsenal are reportedly set to battle out for Hartlepool 'keeper Brad Young

Young was tied down by Hartlepool in summer, after a first professional deal was placed on the table.

The Conference Premier side are looking to turn a large profit on the 6ft 4' teenager, who could be set to spark a bidding war.

Last summer United showed a willingness to invest in British youth talent, as manager Ole Gunnar Solskajer looks to go about shoring up the foundations of the club.

The Red Devils do however have the returning Dean Henderson on their books, who has been impressing during his loan spell with Sheffield United.

Arsenal, meanwhile, remain keen to add to their academy set-up. The Gunners did sanction the recruitment of Estonia youth 'keeper Karl Hein in summer.

Chelsea 'join Manchester United in race to sign £50m-rated Birmingham wonderkid Jude Bellingham' while Man City, Real Madrid and Barcelona also keep tabs on the 16-year-old ace

* Chelsea are set to battle it out with Manchester United for Jude Bellingham
* Birmingham City wonderkid could spark a mammoth bidding war in the summer
* The Blues would be willing to fork out £35m plus £15m add-ons to sign him
* The total would be a potential record amount paid for a 16-year-old player
* Their pursuit of Bellingham would not get in the way of a move for Jadon Sancho

Chelsea are ready to battle it out with Manchester United to sign Birmingham City wonderkid Jude Bellingham, according to reports.

The 16-year-old is set to spark a bidding war in the summer as he continues to attract the interest of Europe's biggest clubs with his standout performances this season.

United tried their luck in the January transfer window to sign Bellingham but saw their £30million bid knocked back by the Championship outfit.

Now Chelsea are willing to pull out all the stops to sign the teenager and will table a mammoth bid of £35m plus £15m in add-ons to secure his services, according to The Sun.

A £50m bid for Bellingham would be the most any club has ever put down for a 16-year-old. That honour goes to Pietro Pellegri who cost Monaco £18m in 2018.

Bellingham is enjoying a breathtaking season with Birmingham having made 28 league appearances so far - scoring four times too.

Chelsea will go head-to-head with Manchester United for £50m-rated Jude Bellingham. The 16-year-old is enjoying a brilliant debut season as a professional at Birmingham City. A move for Bellingham won't affect Chelsea's or United's pursuit of Jadon Sancho this summer

The central midfielder oozes composure that bellies his age, while his spatial awareness in and out of possession is a joy to behold. Bellingham also has an eye for goal as his tally of four this season shows.

He broke Trevor Francis record as Birmingham's youngest debutant broken when he made his bow at 16 years and 38 days.

Any move from Chelsea or United for Bellingham would not affect their pursuit of Jadon Sancho, who will likely cost over £100m this summer.

Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid are also keeping tabs on the Englishman ahead of the window reopening in the summer.

Manchester United and Arsenal 'on alert with Bayern Munich keen to cash in on Corentin Tolisso' as German giants look to fund Kai Havertz move

* Bayern Munich are reportedly ready to sanction the sale of Corentin Tolisso
* The World Cup winner is seen as an asset to raise funds to get Kai Havertz
* Manchester and Arsenal are credited as two clubs interested in the midfielder

Premier League clubs are 'on red alert' with Bayern Munich ready to cash in on French midfielder Corentin Tolisso.

Manchester United and Arsenal are among the suitors for the World Cup winner and BILD report that Bayern will sanction his exit to help fund a summer move for Bayer Leverkusen's Kai Havertz.

United were reported to have made a loan bid to acquire Tolisso in January and the report in Germany is likely to boost the hopes of the Old Trafford club come the end of the season.

Corentin Tolisso is set to spark a frenzy this summer if Bayern opt to let him leave the club. Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reported to have registered interest in him

Juventus, Napoli and Atletico Madrid are the other teams said to have registered an interest in Tolisso.

Tolisso moved from Ligue 1 to the Bundesliga in 2017 for £35million after impressing for Lyon.

He went on to play 40 games in the 2017-18 season as he was part of the side that lifted the title.

Tolisso has impressed with France and went on to win the 2018 World Cup out in Russia

Tolisso's form continued into the national team as he played a key role in Les Bleus' World Cup success in Russia that summer.

But a serious cruciate ligament injury two games into the 2018-19 season set him back and having struggled to regain the form he showed when he arrived, Bayern are now reportedly ready to cash in.

Part of their logic could centre around the fee required to sign Leverkusen starlet Havertz.

The Liverpool target remains the youngest player in Bundesliga history to reach the 50-goal and 100-goal landmarks.

Havertz is only 20 and is desirable to managers looking to both the future and the present, with the playmaker already an integral part of the Leverkusen side.

The 20-year-old has scored 33 goals from 131 appearances in all competitions for the club.

Real Madrid and Manchester United ready to lock horns 'over interest in Mohammed Salisu'... and the highly rated Real Valladolid defender has a release clause of just £10m

* Mohammed Salisu has impressed in his breakthrough season for Real Valladolid
* The 20-year-old defender has a £10million release clause in his contract
* Salisu, who has yet to be capped by Ghana, prefers Premier League move

Real Madrid are preparing to enter the race to sign Mohammed Salisu from Real Valladolid as the battle to sign one of the most promising defenders in Europe heats up.

The 20-year-old has put in a string of impressive performances in his breakthrough season in La Liga which have already attracted the interests of Manchester United and Atletico Madrid.

Salisu signed a new deal at Valladolid last May and while his contract runs out in 2022, he also has a release clause of just £10million - sparking the surge of interest from Europe's top clubs including Madrid according to AS.

Spanish daily AS claim Real Madrid are in the race to land Mohammed Salisu from Valladolid. The defender is also being tracked by Manchester United and has a release clause of £10m

Valladolid are desperate for him to sign a new deal to at the very least protect his value, but with interest elsewhere the Ghanaian is more likely to move on.

United appear to lead the race to land his signature, with the defender keen on a move to the Premier League.

Salisu is yet to be capped at international level, but a Ghana call-up seems sooner rather than later.

Southampton were also monitoring his situation in the January transfer window but are unlikely to rival bids from Europe's more established clubs.

Salisu has already featured 24 times this term, including one appearance in the Copa del Rey and scoring his first senior goal against Eibar back in October.

Tottenham and Everton 'contact Manchester United over Chris Smalling' with Juventus also interested as a permanent Roma move hits the rocks due to club's downturn in form... prompting Ed Woodward to 'raise the the defender's pricetag to £16.5m'

* Chris Smalling is hoping to make his loan move to Roma permanent this summer
* But Roma will lack funds if they miss out on Champions League qualification
* The club are six points behind fourth place after three losses in their last four
* Tottenham, Everton and Juventus are all said to be interested in Smalling

Chris Smalling's permanent move to Roma could be scuppered if the Serie A side fail to qualify for the Champions League, with Tottenham, Everton and Juventus all keen on signing the 30-year-old according to reports in Italy.

The on-loan Manchester United centre-back has admirers at Roma after a series of impressive displays at the back since joining on loan last summer, and has settled well in Italy's capital.

But Roma's results make for concerning reading in the race for a top four finish after three defeats in their last four league games - they are struggling for form and are in fifth place, now trailing Atalanta by six points.

Chris Smalling's move to Roma could collapse if the team fail to qualify for Champions League. The interest has reportedly seen Smalling's asking price go up to £16.5m at Manchester United

With a place in Europe's elite club competition in doubt, Corriere Dello Sport claims Tottenham and Everton have made contact with Manchester United over Smalling, while he is also under consideration at Juventus.

The Italian outlet adds that United chief executive Ed Woodward has, in turn, increased his asking price for the star to £16.5million, and the deal in total could set Roma back £33million when wages are taken into consideration.

Roma wouldn't be able to sanction such a move if they end up playing in the Europa League next season, the report claims, with Smalling set to accept a pay cut in his current United wages but keen on a longer deal.

But the 30-year-old may be forced to head back to the Premier League if he can't inspire his new side to a top-four finish.

Roma are scheduled to face Belgian side Gent in the Europa League on Thursday, a competition where glory would also give Smalling's side a place in next season's Champions League.

Smalling has made 24 appearances for Roma this season, scoring twice.

Manchester United could be forced to sell Paul Pogba for just £50MILLION in the summer, when wantaway star will enter the final season of his contract - and just a year after Real Madrid were weighing up £150m bid

* Manchester United may allow Paul Pogba to leave for £50m in the summer
* Pogba has played just 71 minutes since September due to a recurring injury
* Pogba's agent Mino Raiola insists his player remains determined to leave United

Manchester United might be forced to accept a hefty loss on Paul Pogba if they sell their record signing this summer, with Real Madrid valuing him at no more than £50million.

There is an acceptance at the club and in Pogba’s camp that it would be in everyone’s interests for the Frenchman to be sold at the end of another disappointing season.

Pogba has played just 71 minutes since September due to a recurring injury in his right ankle. He is up to a month away from full fitness and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was last week unable to offer a categorical assurance that he will play for United again.

Manchester United could consider selling Paul Pogba for as little as £50million this summer. Paul Pogba's agent Mino Raiola has revealed his player wants to leave United

Bids in excess of £150m could have brought United to the negotiating table last summer but the 26-year-old’s market value has declined because he will only have a year left on his contract in July.

United can extend it by 12 months, but there is a feeling that they would do well to recoup the £89m he cost to sign from Juventus in 2016 — a world record at the time.

The combination of his prolonged absence and the storm being whipped up by his outspoken agent Mino Raiola — as he tries for the third summer window running to get his client out of Old Trafford — could drive the price down further.

Madrid were thought to be favourites to sign Pogba after boss Zinedine Zidane targeted his French compatriot but a move to the Bernabeu looks unlikely.

Real president Florentino Perez’s priority is to prise Neymar or Kylian Mbappe away from Paris Saint-Germain.

Juventus are also limited financially and would have to sell first or offer a player in a deal — as they did last summer when trying to swap Paulo Dybala for United’s Romelu Lukaku, who joined Inter Milan instead.

Speaking after Monday’s win over Chelsea, former United players Gary Neville and Roy Keane predicted that Pogba would leave the club at the end of the season.

Pogba’s brother Mathias said on Tuesday: ‘Everyone knows that Paul wants to leave Manchester United — he wants to play Champions League football and win titles. We all know that won’t happen at United. We will see what happens this summer.’

Raiola said recently that Pogba might not be able to ‘escape’ Old Trafford and also responded to comments from Solskjaer by saying that the player was not a ‘prisoner’.

He struck a more conciliatory tone on Tuesday, perhaps mindful that he could be damaging the player’s prospects of a move.

‘I certainly did not intend to have any disrespect to the club or towards (Solskjaer),’ said the agent.

‘Paul has a contract with Manchester United and wants to get back fit as quickly as possible to be a positive factor until the end of the season.’

Manchester United are monitoring Gent's exciting young forward Jonathan David.

The 20-year-old Canadian international has scored 22 goals this season and attracted a £5million bid from Porto which was rejected out of hand.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, David moved to Belgium in 2018 from Ottawa Internationals and has impressed with his versatility playing attacking midfield, wide and at centre forward.

Quick and composed, hence his nickname 'Iceman', David scored a hat-trick last weekend against St Truiden, which took his recent spree to nine in six Belgian league games.

United scouts have taken notice in recent weeks and are expected to watch him in the Europa League tie against Roma on Thursday with Everton, Arsenal and Leicester City also among the clubs following him this season.

Voted Canada's player of the year, he has 11 goals in 12 internationals for his country and is valued at around £18million by his club.

Manchester United 'sent their chief scout to watch Martin Odegaard' with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer considering summer move for Real Madrid starlet

* Martin Odegaard has scored seven goals in 25 games for Real Sociedad this term
* Manchester United reportedly sent Marcel Bout to watch him against Valencia
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is on the lookout for new recruits ahead of the summer
* Odegaard remains a Real Madrid player and he could yet return to the Bernabeu

Manchester United sent their chief scout to watch Martin Odegaard in action last weekend ahead of a potential summer move, according to a new report in Spain.

The 21-year-old has been earning rave reviews at Real Sociedad this season after leaving Real Madrid on loan in search of first-team football.

Los Blancos have the option to extend Odegaard's time at Sociedad for another year or bring him back this summer, although a switch to Old Trafford could now be on the cards.

Manchester United reportedly sent their chief scout to watch Martin Odegaard (left) in action. Odegaard played the full 90 minutes as Real Sociedad defeated Valencia 3-0 on Saturday. United's head of global scouting, Marcel Bout, is said to have watched Odegaard

Spanish newspaper El Diario Vasco claim that United's head of global scouting, Marcel Bout, was in attendance to see the Norwegian play the entirety of his side's 3-0 victory over Valencia last Saturday.

Odegaard has impressed this term, making 25 appearances and scoring seven goals in all competitions for Sociedad, who sit sixth in LaLiga.

He was widely regarded as the hottest young prospect in European football when he joined Real Madrid back in 2015, but he has only made one top-flight appearance for the club having spent three seasons on loan in Holland.

United are on the lookout for an attack-minded midfielder this summer, with Jack Grealish believed to be manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's preferred target.

The Manchester Evening News claimed on Tuesday that United are 'keen on agreeing terms' with Aston Villa this month in order to stop his fee rising after Euro 2020.

They will need to trigger Grealish's reported £45million release clause in order to push through a deal for the talented playmaker.

Odegaard, meanwhile, is said to have a whopping release clause of more than £300m in his contract with Real, although the Spanish giants would likely accept a much lower fee.
