Meet Manchester United's new £37m teen: Amad Diallo gives the thumbs up as he is welcomed round Carrington after being given the No 19 shirt at his official unveiling following his switch from Atalanta

Amad Diallo has been officially unveiled as a Manchester United player after completing his £37million move from Atalanta last week.

The 18-year-old could not hide his joy as he was shown around the club's facilities before conducting interviews at the Carrington training complex on Wednesday.

Just a day after United went top of the table with a win over Burnley, fans can now see their newest signing in club colours for the first time since he completed his move.

The 18-year-old, who has been given the No 19, is interviewed on his first day at training

Diallo, who only made five senior appearances for Atalanta before being snapped up by United, revealed it was a 'dream come true' after being given the No 19 shirt – previoulsy worn by the likes of Marcus Rashford and Dwight Yorke.

'After waiting since the summer, it is finally a dream come true to complete my move to Manchester United,' said Diallo last week.

'I am hugely ambitious and there is so much that I want to achieve in the game; when I spoke to the manager I knew that I had joined the perfect club.

'This is a really exciting squad with so many great players, I can promise that I will work hard every day to learn from them and give everything to develop my game.

'The coaches have been fantastic since I signed, we have been in touch regularly and they have already given me a lot of great advice.

'I have had time to prepare for this move, both physically and mentally, and I have worked really hard to be ready to make the step up to this amazing club.'

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hinted that Diallo will train with United's first-team squad but it is far from certain that he will make his debut in English football anytime soon.

'As a club, we have followed Amad for a number of years and having watched him myself, I believe he is one of the most exciting young prospects in the game,' said Solskjaer.

'Manchester United has such a proud history of developing young players and everything is in place to enable Amad to reach his potential here.

'It's important we give him that time to settle in, if it's in the Under 23s or if he looks ready to go into the first team, I don't know yet.'

The Red Devils paid £19m up front for the Ivory Coast winger and could pay up to £18m in add-ons, should he meet certain targets.

Diallo is viewed as one of the brightest young talents in the game and United will be confident he can play a prominent role going forward.

United legend Rio Ferdinand believes he can have a huge impact.

'We've just bought a kid in from Atalanta and hopefully he does something,' the former United defender said on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE podcast.

'If you see his clips and speak to people at the club who are involved in buying him, potentially this kid could be a world-beater.

'That is the thought of Manchester United people that this kid is one they have unearthed.'

Ferdinand then went as far as drawing comparisons between Diallo and Ronaldo, who joined in a £12.24m deal in the summer of 2003.

Ferdinand added: 'I don't want to put the pressure of Ronaldo on him, but no-one knew about Ronaldo when we bought him other than the people in Portugal.

'This kid seems similar in that sense and if you see his clips and the way people talk about him, the world is his oyster if he applies himself right.'

Diallo passed his medical and agreed personal terms last Thursday but actually signed for United in the previous transfer window in October, remaining in Italy on loan for the first half of the season.

Rio Ferdinand tips Amad Diallo to 'become a world-beater' at Manchester United... and claims teenager's £37m arrival is similar to Cristiano Ronaldo's with the 'world his oyster if he applies himself right'

Manchester United great Rio Ferdinand has extremely high hopes for new boy Amad Diallo, claiming he could become a 'world-beater' just like Cristiano Ronaldo if he applies himself right.

Diallo finally joined the Red Devils in a deal which could rise to £37million. They paid an initial £19m up front but could splash out a further £18m in add-ons despite him playing just five times for Atalanta's first team.

Ronaldo went onto win three Premier League titles, one Champions League, the FIFA Club World Cup, one FA Cup and two League Cups during his time at Old Trafford before claiming five Ballon d'Or crowns.

Amad Diallo could be handed his Manchester United debut as early as next month, reveals Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as Old Trafford boss delivers glowing assessment of £37m teenager after 'making a difference in training' since Atalanta move

* Manchester United completed the signing of Amad Diallo earlier this month
* United had agreed a £37m deal with Atalanta in the previous transfer window but Diallo was awaiting a visa before he could join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side
* Diallo has impressed Solskjaer already during Red Devils training sessions

Amad Diallo could break into Manchester United's first-team squad as early as next month, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed.

United agreed a £37million deal with Atalanta for the Ivorian teenager, 18, in October, but Diallo only began training at Carrington last week after being granted a visa.

Although the young winger is working with the first-team group, the plan was to play him in the Under 23s - as United have done with another teenage signing, Facundo Pellistri.

Amad Diallo could be in line for his Manchester United debut next month after already shining. The teenager joined in a £37m deal from Atalanta this month but has impressed in training. United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed the teenager could make his bow in February

However, Solskjaer believes Diallo could be ready for senior action sooner than he thought after making a good impression in training.

Asked if it could now be only four or five weeks before Diallo is in line for his debut, the United boss said: 'It might be quicker than that. I can't see it being too long until he's in the squad.

'He's definitely settled down well. The players have taken to him, he's a good character, polite, smiley boy who works really hard.

'He's doing his sessions and getting used to us. There's always a period of adjustment needed but he's settling in well.

'He can handle the ball, he's enjoyed training and he makes a difference in training, which is quite remarkable at his age.'

There were plans for Diallo to be part of the Under 23s initially but they could now change

Manchester United's £37m new boy Amad Diallo makes an INSTANT impact as he scores twice - including incredible Panenka penalty - in his first game after starting for U23s in rampant 6-3 win over rivals Liverpool

* Amad Diallo made his first start in a Manchester United shirt for the U23's side
* He scored just 15 minutes into their game with Liverpool to give United the lead
* The 18-year-old then scored a panenka penalty in the second-half to make it 6-2
* Diallo was signed from Atalanta in October for £37m and joined this month

Amad Diallo made an immediate impact for Manchester United as he scored for their Under 23s side against bitter rivals Liverpool.

The Premier League 2 derby clash marked the first time that Diallo had put on a United shirt since signing from Serie A side Atalanta.

It took just 13 minutes for the 18-year-old to put his side ahead when he robbed Liverpool defender Billy Koumetio of possession and coolly slotted the ball past goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga.

Diallo had another chance later in the first-half when he and French midfielder Hannibal Mejbri linked up, but United's new signing narrowly missed.

Manchester United went 2-0 up but Liverpool scored twice to make the game level going into-half time.

But the Red Devils then soared out of reach with Joe Hugill scoring four goals to help give United a 5-2 lead.

Diallo then scored his second of the game from the spot with a cute panenka penalty to get their sixth.

Liverpool bagged a consolation goal but ultimately fell to a heavy 6-3 defeat to their great rivals.

United agreed a £37million deal with Atalanta for the Ivorian teenager in October, but Diallo only began training at Carrington this month after being granted a visa.

Manchester United fans angry at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's 'criminal' decision not to bring on £37m teenage sensation Amad Diallo for 'deserved' Manchester United debut in FA Cup win against West Ham

* Amad Diallo joined Manchester United from Atalanta in the January window
* He was named on the bench for the first time in the FA Cup tie against West Ham
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had six substitutions available to him during the fixture
* But the 18-year-old was not one of them and his wait for a United debut goes on

Manchester United fans let their anger be known on social media after being left disappointed that £37million teenage sensation Amad Diallo was not handed his debut against West Ham.

The 18-year-old - who officially joined the club in January from Atalanta - was named on the first-team bench by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the first time ahead of their fifth-round FA Cup tie against David Moyes' side.

But despite the five substitutions available to the Norwegian in regular time as well as a further change once the game had headed into extra time, Diallo was left on the bench for the entire match, with experienced team-mates Edinson Cavani and Bruno Fernandes among those preferred.

United did eventually qualify for the quarter-finals of the competition after substitute Scott McTominay's sweeping winner, but some fans were still left unhappy that the Ivorian youngster was not given the opportunity to showcase his talent.

One Twitter user wrote: 'It's actually criminal that in this kinda game, Ole failed to give Amad Diallo a deserved debut.

'Like, how could you deny him that in such a useless match?,' while another said the former United striker was not 'brave enough' to hand him his club debut.

Others were also left disappointed after tweeting: 'I only watched the game today hoping @Amaddiallo_19 would get some minutes,' while another added: 'Yeah absolutely ridiculous that Amad Diallo couldn't get a few minutes today.'

Manchester United fans were left unhappy at the decision of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to not hand Amad Diallo his debut in Tuesday night's FA Cup fifth round against West Ham. The 18-year-old was named on the bench against West Ham but did not make his debut

Defenders Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams were among the players brought on by Solskjaer over the course of the 120 minutes and those two decisions frustrated some, with one adding: 'Ole teases us by including Amad Diallo and then puts on two Left-Backs for extra time,' followed by two upside down smiley face emojis.

Many different users also believed Solskjaer made a mistake by not introducing Diallo in the fold, and claims the club's most decorated manager would have had no hesitations in bringing him when the scores were still level.

One said: 'Man we deffo need @Amaddiallo_ 19 playing games man! [Sir Alex] Ferguson would have brought him on especially when we were looking for a goal!'

There were also some who believed more established United forwards were lucky to survive being replaced, with a user quoted beforehand adding: 'Can someone explain to me how having Rashford on at the moment after 113 minutes of football is more beneficial than having Amad Diallo on with fresh legs?'

Others however preferred to offer a different perspective and believe that Diallo's debut will come when the time is right.

'See a lot of reds calling for #amaddiallo , I get it we all want to see him. He was never coming on tonight,' one user said.

'This is the start and we will see him, but having him just around the match day squad will do wonders for him, and when he’s ready he will play.'

Another agreed, adding: 'Amad Diallo was never going to get on, unless we were a good few goals up.

'Ole will want him making his debut in the most comfortable position possible. Would expect him to be on the bench against West Brom, hopefully he can get on then.'

Diallo has already made a strong impact since joining United for £37million from the Serie A side.

In his first two games for United's Under 23s in Premier League 2, Diallo has scored three goals and assisted three others.

He impressed during his debut against Liverpool U23s at the end of last month, scoring twice as United won 6-3 before adding another against Blackburn while setting up three other goals in a 6-4 victory.

Man United's £37m Amad Diallo is fined £42,000 for 'falsifying documents and using bogus parents to push through his move to Italy from the Ivory Coast'

* Amad Diallo sealed a £37million move to Manchester United last month
* The 18-year-old from Ivory Coast moved to Old Trafford from Atalanta in Serie A
* He was an unused substitute in the FA Cup victory over West Ham on Tuesday

Manchester United's new signing Amad Diallo has been fined £42,000 in Italy over allegations he used fake documents and bogus parents to move to Europe from Ivory Coast.

Diallo was in the United squad for the first time for Tuesday night's FA Cup tie against West Ham following his £37million move from Atalanta.

The FIGC, Italian football's governing body, has handed out the fine after the 18-year-old winger and his brother Hamed – who plays for Serie A side Sassuolo – accepted a plea bargain to avoid a ban.

Amad Diallo has been fined £42,000 in Italy over allegations he used falsified documents and bogus parents to help his move from the Ivory Coast in 2015. Diallo wasn't able to move to Old Trafford until January while he obtained an Italian passport and waited to be issued with a UK visa and work permit

A statement said that the two players used 'false certifications that had allowed them to reunite in Italy with fictitious parents'.

It added: 'The two requested "the application of the sanction pursuant to art. 126 of the Code of Sports Justice", that is, the plea bargain: the Federal Prosecutor's Office has thus imposed a penalty of 48 thousand euros for Amad Diallo and another 48 thousand euros for Hamed Traore.'

The investigation looked into allegations that a child trafficking ring of five adults smuggled the two boys into Italy on a family visa six years ago, including two who falsely claimed to be their mother and father – Hamed Mamadou Traore and Marina Edwige Carine Teher.

United declined to comment but it’s understood the club sought assurances before signing Diallo that the issue would not impact him being able to play for them.

The false documents were said to have been used so Diallo could sign for junior club Boca Barco in 2015 and Atalanta three years later.

It is also alleged that Amad Diallo Traore was not the player's real name and Hamed may not even be his brother.

Having dropped the name Traore on his 18th birthday last July and legally changed it to Diallo in September, he decided to have Amad on the back of his shirt at United.

The move went through in October after United agreed to pay £19m plus a further £18m in add-ons to Atalanta, but Diallo wasn't able to move to Old Trafford until January while he obtained an Italian passport and waited to be issued with a UK visa and work permit.

The teenager was fast-tracked into United's first-team squad after scoring twice on his debut for the club's Under-23 team against Liverpool last week and then making three assists in his second game against Blackburn.

Diallo was an unused substitute in Tuesday's 1-0 win over West Ham at Old Trafford, but is expected to make his senior debut soon.

Diallo's brother, Hamed, plays for Serie A side Sassuolo and was also hit with a fine

However, he has remained under investigation in Italy as part of the probe launched by the prosecutor's office in Parma.

Although Diallo and his brother – who were both questioned and gave DNA samples – could not be charged because they were under 18 at the time of the alleged offences, it did not prevent the Italian FA from taking further action.

Comparisons have been drawn with former Chievo winger Eriberto, who was banned for four months in 2002 – the same year Diallo was born in the Ivory Coast capital of Abidjan – after the Brazilian admitted to lying about his name, age and passport to secure a new life in Italy.

Diallo and his brother avoided a similar punishment with the plea bargain that was confirmed in full by the FIGC.

It read: 'Having regard to the communication from the Federal Prosecutor's Office concerning the decision to conclude the investigations referred to in Case No. 1130 pf 19/20 adopted against Amad Diallo and Hamed Traore, concerning the following conduct.

'Amad Diallo, alias Traore Diallo Amad (born July 11, 2002 in Côte d'Ivoire), in violation of art. 4, paragraph 1, and art. 32, paragraph 7, of the Code of Sports Justice for having allowed, in order to be able to be registered, on January 14, 2015 (sports season 2014/15), with the company A.S.D. Boca Barco, with the name of Traore Diallo Amad, that non-registered subjects (The following Traorè Hamed Mamadou and Teher Marina Edwige Carine) and other subjects to the state not identified, they carried out acts aimed at obtaining false or altered certificates or documents in order to circumvent the rules on entry into Italy and membership, since he was extra-Community, through the reunification to those Ivorian citizens, already resident in Italy, who pretended to be the parent of the player de quo and required their family reunification, using false certifications attesting to the relationship of kinship.

'For allowing, moreover, in order to be able to conclude the first professional contract with Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio S.p.A., on 11 July 2018, under the false name of Traore Diallo Amad, that other undocumented persons (Mr Traorè Hamed Mamadou and Teher Marina Edwige Carine) performed acts aimed at obtaining false or altered certificates or documents in order to circumvent the rules on entry into Italy and membership, as a non-EU citizen, through the reunification to those Ivorian citizens, already resident in Italy, who pretended to be the parent of the footballer de quo and required their family reunification, using false certifications attesting to the relationship of kinship.

'Finally, to have himself, to the subsequent memberships with companies affiliated to the F.I.G.C., he continued to use the false certifications that had allowed him to reunite in Italy with fictitious parents.'

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reveals Amad Diallo could make his Manchester United debut in Europa League clash with Real Sociedad as manager insists £37m signing is not in the squad 'just for experience'

* Amad Diallo could make his Manchester United debut against Real Sociedad
* The £37million signing is yet to feature in a competitive game for the first-team
* Shola Shoretire is also in the 22-man squad for the Europa League clash
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insisted the youngsters are not in the squad for experience

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is weighing up giving Amad Diallo his Manchester United debut in Turin on Thursday, claiming the club’s new £37million signing has not just gone along for the ride.

The 18-year-old former Atalanta winger returned to Italy on Wednesday as part of a 22-man United squad for the Europa League first leg against Real Sociedad, being played on neutral ground at Juventus’s stadium.

With forward Edinson Cavani and midfielder Donny van de Beek ruled out through injury, Diallo is likely to feature on United’s bench. Solskjaer insists he is ready to use the Ivorian and 17-year-old striker Shola Shoretire against the Spaniards if needed.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed Amad Diallo could make his Manchester United debut against Real Sociedad. Solskjaer insisted the £37m January signing is not in the squad 'just for the experience'

‘They’re not in the travelling squad just for experience. They’re there to make an impact if they have to,’ said the United boss. ‘Maybe they’ll get their chance before we expected.’

Shola Shoretire is also in the travelling squad with the 17-year-old having recently signed a new contract at Old Trafford

United are without a win over Spanish opposition in their last nine attempts, most recently losing to Sevilla in the semi-finals of this competition last season.

‘We’ll have to perform very well to beat Sociedad,’ added Solskjaer.

‘It was probably the hardest draw you could pick from our unseeded group.’

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford was on Wednesday named in Time magazine’s Next 100 list as a leader shaping the future, recognising his campaigning work on child poverty.

Luke Shaw backs up Harry Maguire's claim that Manchester United youngster Amad Diallo plays like Riyad Mahrez - as £37m wonderkid has 'skill and agility' similar to Man City winger

* Luke Shaw agrees with Harry Maguire's claim about youngster Amid Diallo
* The pair agree Diallo, 18, reminds them of Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez
* The £37m hopeful made his United debut in 4-0 victory over Real Sociedad
* Shaw says Diallo has the 'skill and agility' much like the mercurial City winger

Luke Shaw claims Manchester United youngster Amad Diallo reminds him of the star winger of rivals Manchester City, Riyad Mahrez.

Diallo, 18, joined United from Atalanta in October for £37million and made his debut as a late substitute in his side's 4-0 Europa League win against Real Sociedad on Thursday.

Despite his lack of action so far, Diallo is tipped for a bright future in the game after impressing for United's U23s side, and left-back Shaw revealed he has dazzled during first team training sessions.

Luke Shaw has compared Amad Diallo (left) to Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez (right). Shaw says the youngster will not be too far from getting some more first team action soon

‘He’s still so young but he’s come into training and you can tell he’s got confidence,’ Shaw told Sky Sports after being pressed on the youngster during a Q&A with fans.

‘You can tell by the way he plays, his first touch is brilliant, the way he takes the ball and drives at players. He’s got great skill.

‘Of course, like I said, very skilful and got a long way to go. But you can tell already he’s going to be one for the future and I’m sure he’s not far away from getting a first team appearance.

£37million summer signing, 18, made Manchester United debut as a substitute on Thursday. Shaw says he and Harry Maguire agree that Diallo has the 'skill and agility' of the City winger

The 25-year-old revealed his team-mate and club captain Harry Maguire feels Diallo reminds him of Mahrez after the pair played together at Leicester City, a sentiment Shaw agrees with.

‘He’s a wonderful talent and already a wonderful player so I’m sure fans are looking forward to seeing him on the pitch.

‘It was interesting because Harry said to me the other day that he reminds him of Mahrez when he was at Leicester.

‘Really quick, skilful, agility, can turn really quick, got great skills and I would agree with Harry – he does remind me of Mahrez.

‘Even the way Mahrez plays now I’ve seen the qualities that Amad already has and has shown in training.

‘Mahrez is a wonderful player so hopefully if he’s any good like him it would be great for United.’

After coming on as a late substitute in United's impressive round of 32 first leg victory, former United player Owen Hargreaves labelled Diallo a 'special one of the future, while Paul Scholes revealed he has impressed him when he has watched the Red Devils U23 games.

Default Re: Amad Diallo Traore

Amad Diallo is a 'special one for the future', says Owen Hargreaves after his Man United debut - but he warns £37m starlet must make a 'significant impact given the money'... while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits he is close to starting

* Amad Diallo got his first taste of action for Manchester United's senior team
* He came on for the final seven minutes of United's 4-0 win over Real Sociedad
* Paul Scholes and Owen Hargreaves are very excited to see more of Diallo
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted Diallo is close to making his first start

Owen Hargreaves is excited about what the future holds for Amad Diallo at Manchester United but warned the club will want a big impact from him given his price tag.

Diallo made his United debut in the 4-0 victory over Real Sociedad on Thursday evening following his long-awaited £37million move from Atalanta, coming on as a late substitute during the first leg of the Europa League last-32 tie.

There is plenty of hype surrounding the 18-year-old's future, with many tipping him to go onto big things after already impressing for United's Under 23s in the couple of games he played for them.

And Hargreaves admitted that there will be pressure on the teenage winger's shoulders to deliver given that United spent big money on him.

When asked whether Diallo could be a potential alternative to Jadon Sancho - who was close to signing for United last summer - Hargreaves replied on BT Sport: 'Well, I think when you sign players for that amount of money, you want them to have an impact.

'They obviously believe in him and that's why he was on the bench tonight and came on.

'(Anthony) Martial and (Marcus) Rashford are setting the levels of what it means, but for the money they paid, they're going to want a pretty significant impact.

'For Jadon Sancho, that category of player is already established, but Diallo is at the start. Hopefully he's a special one for the future.'

Amad Diallo made his debut for Manchester United against Real Sociedad on Thursday. The teenager came on as a late sub for Mason Greenwood during the Europa League clash. Owen Hargreaves said United will want a 'significant impact' from Diallo due to his price tag. United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hinted Diallo could make his first start soon

Meanwhile, Hargreaves' fellow pundit and United legend Paul Scholes insisted that Diallo will need time to settle in at Old Trafford but is relishing the chance to see him play more.

'We didn't see too much of him tonight, did we?' Scholes said after the teenager's late cameo. 'He looks a talented player, I watched the Under 23s last week and he scored a goal and made a couple.

'He's got real talent, got a nice left foot. Is he quick? I'm not too sure, I haven't seen that yet. I think he's a creative player, still a young player at 18, but give him time and hopefully he'll do well for us.'

It was a brilliant evening all round for United as they all-but secured their passage to the last-16 of the Europa League after thrashing Sociedad 4-0 in Turin.

Bruno Fernandes scored twice before Rashford and Daniel James got on the scoresheet against the LaLiga outfit.

And with the result wrapped up, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave United fans their wish by putting Diallo on for the final seven minutes - replacing Mason Greenwood.

Speaking following the final whistle, Solskjaer admitted that Diallo will be given an even bigger role in the near future.

'He's getting closer and closer to his minutes by the day,' Solskjaer told BT Sport. 'That is why we felt towards the end when we were 3-0 up to go and let him enjoy his first 10 minutes for the club.'

During his post-match press conference, Solskjaer added: 'We'll make a decision on [his first start] after Newcastle [on Sunday].

'He's had a couple of games in the reserves and there's still a few players on the bench that would want to start of course but Amad is getting closer we'll see how much game time he will get.'
