Sheringham: Fergie isn't the best tactician

Former Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur striker Teddy Sheringham has revealed that treble winning manager Sir Alex Ferguson isn’t very good tactically but instead has the ability to pick the right character to play for the red devils.

Teddy Sheringham moved from Tottenham Hotspur to Manchester United in a £3.5 million deal that coincided with the Red Devils winning the treble a year later in which Sheringham scored in a dramatic Champions League final.

Despite being the most successful manager in history of British football having won 11 Premier League titles, 5 FA Cups, 4 League Cups and 2 Champions League trophies in his tenure at Manchester United, Sheringham believes his tactical nous is not the strongest. Sheringham said:

“Sir Alex Ferguson isn’t the best tactician but he has an understanding and knows what it takes for a player to play for Man United. Whether or not they have the right character and that would be the same when playing for England. You can’t pick a player who is a bit of a flitty player, you got to have someone who can take a bit of stick and is going to get lambasted by the press if they don’t do well on a regular basis.

“But you’ve got to be able to handle that. It’s got to be like water off a duck’s back. You just have to carry on and know you’re a good footballer. If you’re my manager (pointing at me) and you like what I’m doing then that’s enough for me, I’ll keep doing that.”

hahaha... bingung juga liat bang Teddy, yang terbaik bukan tapi hanya mengakui pelatih yang pandai dalam memilih pemain sesuai karakter permainan United,
Melahirkan Class of 92 yang hampir semua nya menjadi pilar tim dan sukses dengan raihan trophy terbanyak PL terbanyak belum lagi FA, Carling, dan CL...
sayang nya sih Bang Teddy ngomong nya gak bilang siapa yang lebih baik dari SAF....

ya tapi maksud om TOD siapa donk yg lbh jago tak tik drpd Opa gal..

bingung juga sih..
tapi maksudnya kali yg bikin banyak thropy kepemimpinan Opa karna "the rite man in the rite place" (termasuk tak tik gag yah )

Ada benernya juga sih.. kalau jagoan taktik berarti invincible alias tak terkalahkan. Menurut saya, Opa memiliki kemampuan menggabungkan strategi, kemampuan memilih pemain, kemampuan dalam memompa semangat tim (Hair dryer stylenya) ditambah kemampuannya mengompori lawan sampai level dimana lawan udah jatuh mental sebelum bertanding..

so it's not just about strategy...

aku sih setuju sama Oom Teddy...Opa kita bukan tactician terbaik...

karena permainan Manchester United dibawah Opa kurasa tidak terlalu tergantung taktik...tapi lebih tergantung karakter pemain (seperti kata Oom Teddy)...

dan dua hal itu menurutku berbeda...

selama ini juga tidak pernah kita dengar/baca/lihat kalau SAF membuat sebuah taktik yang tidak pernah terlihat sebelumnya...taktik beliau selalu standar...bahkan sepertinya hampir baku 4-4-2...

Rinus Michels, Helenio Herrera bahkan Frank Rijkaard menurutku ahli taktik yang lebih baik dari SAF...

Kalo tactician yang bagus diukur dari berapa banyak dia bisa buat formasi anak kecil yang sering main game bola play station juga lebih bagus tuh dari SAF...

kalo menurut gw sih pernyataan Teddy cuma sekedar basa basi aja, dan dibesar2kan media..
kemampuan SAF yang ngga bisa dilakukan pelatih lain adalah memaksimalkan satu pemain di beberapa posisi yang berbeda
