Ole Gunnar Solskjaer handed boost in pursuit of Mario Mandzukic as Juventus striker 'slashes £300k-a-week wage demands IN HALF to seal £10m move to Old Trafford'

* Mario Mandzukic has emerged as a January striker target for Manchester United
* The Croatian forward has been deemed surplus to requirement by Juventus
* He is not training with the first team after the club struck an agreement with him
* Reports say that Mandzukic has 'slashed his £300k-a-week wage demands'

Manchester United's pursuit of Mario Mandzukic looks to have been handed a major boost with the striker reportedly ready to lower his wage demands to seal a move away from Juventus.

The Sun report that Mandzukic is 'ready to half his £300,000-a-week wage demands in half' in a bid to push through a mid-season switch.

United have looked desperately short of striking options so far this season having failed to replace Alexis Sanchez, who joined Inter Milan on loan, and Romelu Lukaku, who joined the Italian giants on a permanent on deadline day.

The 33-year-old was on the cusp of moving to the Premier League in the summer when Juventus pushed for Lukaku.

But the Belgian joined rivals Inter and the deal to bring Mandzukic to Manchester collapsed.

Mandzukic is not involved in Juventus' first-team set-up under Maurizio Sarri and a January exit now appeals inevitable after it emerged a deal had been struck for the player to train away from the main group.

Mario Mandzukic is reportedly ready to reduce his wage demands to seal his Juventus exit. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has found himself short of strikers and wants to add faces in January

Solskjaer has had to rely on Marcus Rashford and 17-year-old Mason Greenwood for most of the campaign with Anthony Martial struggling with an injury he sustained in the defeat to Crystal Palace.

Rashford, who scored in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool at the weekend, has looked fatigued in spells but given the limited options, Solskjaer admitted recently he can ill-afford to rest the England international.

'At the moment we can't really give him a break because we've had injuries,' Solskjaer told Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville.

'Anthony [Martial] has been out for eight weeks now. So he's had to play loads more football than I'd hoped.

'Marcus is a centre forward who can play left, right and as a No 10. He wants to be able to play all the positions.'

It remains unclear how many additions the Norwegian manager wants to make in January given United's disastrous start to the 2019-20 season.

Mandzukic is believed to be available at around £10m and would represent a short-term option in attack given he turns 34 in May at the end of the current campaign.

Sevilla 'join Manchester United in the race to sign Juventus outcast Mario Mandzukic in the January window'

* Sevilla are 'rivalling' Manchester United in their pursuit of Mario Mandzukic
* Julen Lopetegui is thought to have lined up the Croatian star for a January move
* Juventus chief Fabio Paratici said the club are 'open' to options for Mandzukic

Sevilla are reportedly challenging Manchester United in the race to sign Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic.

Julen Lopetegui is looking to bolster his attacking options as the Sevilla boss looks to alter a misfiring forward line which has struggled to deal with the summer departure of Wissam Ben Yedder.

Manchester United's attacking problems meanwhile are well documented as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to buy in January to ease the burden on youngsters Marcus Rashford and Daniel James, who played as split forwards in the Red Devils' recent draw with Liverpool.

Marca reports Mandzukic, 33, is looking for a move away from Turin as he seeks more first-team football - the Croatian is yet to play a minute for Maurizio Sarri's side this season.

'We're talking to Mario to find the best possible solution,' Juventus chief Fabio Paratici said recently.

'We're open to any option. Whether he stays or goes, we want a solution to be found.'

Sevilla have identified Mario Mandzukic as a transfer target for January to rival Man United. Mandzukic has found himself out of favour for Juventus this season under Maurizio Sarri

Earlier this week Mandzukic was thought to be edging closer to a Manchester United move as he reportedly halved his £300,000-a-week wage demands.

But now Sevilla have entered the race for the Croatian international, opening up the possibility of a transfer tuggle between the La Liga side and Manchester United.

United have looked desperately short of striking options so far this season having failed to replace Alexis Sanchez, who joined Inter Milan on loan, and Romelu Lukaku, who joined the Italian giants in a £74million deal on deadline day.

Having won the Champions League, Serie A four times, and the Bundesliga twice, plundering 188 club goals in the process, Mandzukic fits the profile and calibre of striker Manchester United are after.

Juventus 'put £4.5M price tag on out-of-favour striker Mario Mandzukic' with Manchester United and Sevilla plotting January moves

* Mario Mandzukic has been deemed surplus to requirements by Maurizio Sarri
* Reports in Italy say the player will be available for £4.5m in the January window
* Both Manchester United and Sevilla have been credited with an interest in him

Juventus have named their price for out-of-favour striker Mario Mandzukic, according to reports in Italy, with Manchester United and Sevilla targeting a move for the Croatian.

Mandzukic is not training with the rest of the first-team at Juventus and has been deemed surplus to requirements at the club.

Calciomercato report that the Italian champions want just €5.3million (£4.5m) for the player in January - but are not open to any loan deal that does not include an obligation to buy.

Mario Mandzukic will be available for just £4.5million in January, according to reports in Italy. Manchester United have been monitoring the 33-year-old in a bid to bolster attacking options

Mandzukic rejected the chance to leave the club in the summer when it seemed a fee had been agreed with a club in Qatar.

But an exit in the winter transfer window appears to be inevitable given he has been frozen out after an agreement was struck between the player's camp and management at Juventus for him to stay away from the first team.

The report goes on to add that while United are willing to meet his salary demands, they are unwilling to pay a fee for a player who will turn 34 at the end of the 2019-20 season.

United desperately need to add to their attacking options with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer left with limited options after allowing Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to depart for Inter Milan, the latter on a loan deal.

Injuries to both Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford already this season has seen 17-year-old Mason Greenwood given a rapid rise through to the first team to fill in the gap at No 9 and so a striker has become a priority signing in January.

Rashford has had to bear the brunt of the workload up top for Solskjaer's side, which has had a detrimental effect on his form. The United boss has admitted that he can't take the 21-year-old out of the firing line at the moment.

* Juventus are looking to offload Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic
* Manchester United retain a strong interest in the 33-year-old
* They are desperate for reinforcements in attack in the January window

Juventus are reportedly commencing talks with Manchester United over a deal for Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic in January.

Sporting director Fabio Paratici is believed to have flown to England for talks with his Old Trafford counterparts in London.

United are looking to tie up a £13million deal for the 33-year-old as they aim for reinforcements to reignite their season, according to La Stampa.

Juve are keen to offload Mandzukic, who hasn't featured at all under Maurizio Sarri this season.

He has been training away from the rest of the squad in order to maintain his fitness levels.

Mandzukic rejected the chance to leave in the summer when it seemed a fee had been agreed with a club in Qatar.

United are desperate for depth in attack with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial the only recognised senior strikers.

They have been left short after the departures of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez in the summer window.

Mario Mandzukic could 'start training with Manchester United in December' if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side strike informal agreement with Juventus before January transfer is finalised

* Manchester United are plotting a move for Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic
* The Croatian forward has been ostracised by Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri
* Mandzukic could move to Manchester in December before the deal is signed

Mario Mandzukic plans to start training with Manchester United ahead of a potential January transfer.

According to reports in Italy, the forward will move to Manchester as soon as an informal agreement is reached between the two clubs, giving him time to settle in before the deal goes through.

The 33-year-old has been frozen out by Juve manager Maurizio Sarri, failing to make a single appearance for the first-team this season.

Mario Mandzukic could start training at Manchester United next month before a January move

Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to recruit attacking reinforcements to support Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, and Mandzukic fits the bill.

Rashford and Martial have provided nine goals and six assists between them this season, but Solskjaer is looking to add further firepower.

In 2018-19, Mandzukic scored 10 goals in 33 appearances as Juve won an eighth Serie A title in succession.

Manchester United target Mario Mandzukic set to join Al-Duhail as Croatia forward arrives in Qatar to seal Juventus exit

* Mario Mandzukic has not played a game under Maurizio Sarri at Juventus
* The Croat is likely to leave in January and was seen in Qatar this week
* The 33-year-old had been linked with a move to Manchester United next month
* However, interest has cooled with the club linked to Erling Haaland of Salzburg

Mario Mandzukic has arrived in Qatar to seal a move to Al-Duhail as the Manchester United target edges closer to leaving Juventus.

The 33-year-old has long been keen to leave Italy behind after enduing a tumultous season in Turin, with manager Maurizio Sarri snubbing the Croat from his first team plans.

Mandzukic's future with Juve was further questioned when he was excluded from the club's Christmas celebrations earlier this month.

Mario Mandzukic is set to end his Juventus nightmare and is on the verge of joining Al-Duhail. The Croat has fallen out of favour at Juve and has not been used by boss Maurizio Sarri. Mandzukic had been linked with Man United but the club are instead pursuing Erling Haaland

According to Sky Sports, Mandzukic has been spotted in Qatar with a January move to league leaders Al-Duhail looking all the more likely.

The former Bayern Munich man had been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer identifying Mandzukic as a potential answer to Manchester United's goalscoring conundrum.

However, United are seeking alternative options, with a move for Red Bull Salzburg forward Erling Haaland becoming a real possibility next month.

The 19-year-old, son of former Manchester City player Alf-Inge, spent time in Manchester this week, further amplifying rumours of a January move.

Solskjaer, however, insisted the teenager was in the city to spend time with friends on a holiday.

Mario Mandzukic ends speculation over future as he completes move to Qatari outfit Al-Duhail despite interest from Manchester United

* Mario Mandzukic has completed a move to Qatari side Al-Duhail from Juventus
* The 33-year-old striker was frozen out of the first-team by Maurizio Sarri
* The Croat was linked with a move to Manchester United and the Premier League
* Al-Duhail are managed by Jose Mourinho's former assistant Rui Faria

Mario Mandzukic has completed his move from Juventus to Qatari side Al-Duhail, ending speculation of a transfer to Manchester United.

The Croatian striker has been out-of-favour in Turin under new manager Maurizio Sarri this season, and has constantly been linked with a move away from the Serie A champions.

Manchester United were reportedly interested in the 33-year-old's signature but the World Cup runner-up has instead opted for pastures new in the Middle East.

Al-Duhail posted a photo online showing Mandzukic complete the required paperwork. The 33-year-old forward was frozen out at Juventus by current manager Maurizio Sarri. Manduzkic has not played for Juventus this season and was inevitably going to move away

The Doha-based club are managed by Jose Mourinho's former assistant Rui Faria.

The Croat was first spotted in Qatar on Monday as he finalised his move, after a four-year stay in Italy with Juventus.

Mandzukic's future with Juve was all but over when he was excluded from the club's Christmas celebrations earlier this month.

Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri has not used him once in the first team so far this season, with the forward resigned to his fate.

Al-Duhail currently lead the Qatar Stars League by four points after 11 matches.

He was used regularly under previous manager Massimiliano Allegri, and won four Serie A titles and three Coppa Italia crowns during his time at the club.

Mandzukic also scored a memorable bicycle-kick in the 2017 Champions League final against Real Madrid, who eventually ran out 4-1 winners.

United, meanwhile, are still searching for a new striker and it appears Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will make a move for Red Bull Salzburg forward Erling Haaland next month.

The 19-year-old, son of former Manchester City player Alf-Inge, spent time in Manchester this week, further amplifying rumours of a January move.

Solskjaer, who worked with the forward at Molde, insisted the teenager was in the city to spend time with friends on a holiday.
