Willian 'rejects contract from David Beckham's Inter Miami which leaves Chelsea's London rivals Tottenham favourites to sign Brazilian'

* The Brazilian winger's current deal at Chelsea expires at the end of the season
* The MLS' newest side Inter Miami have reportedly made Willian a huge offer
* Willian was approached with a three-year contract offer from the MLS outfit
* That has left the situation wide open with Spurs ready to offer a massive contract

Willian has rejected a contract from David Beckham's Inter Miami side according to The Telegraph.

The Brazilian winger's current deal at Chelsea expires at the end of the current season and the MLS' newest side have reportedly made him a huge offer.

The article suggests that Willian was approached by the side co-owned by Beckham with a three-year contract offer but turned it down.

That has left the situation wide open with Spurs ready to offer a massive contract to the 31-year-old.

It is illustrative of how highly Frank Lampard regards Willian that the Brazilian has started in all five of Chelsea's matches since football restarted.

The 31-year-old winger has been the club's most productive attacking player since the resumption, with four goals — all from set pieces — and an assist. It takes his tally for the season to 11, behind only Tammy Abraham, while only captain Cesar Azpilicueta and Mason Mount have started more games.

So, with all that in mind, it is unfathomable that Willian will leave Stamford Bridge in three weeks. Talks over an extension are at a standstill.

Three weeks is a long time in football, of course. More performances like those during Project Restart and who knows, Chelsea may yet return to the table.

The view from inside Stamford Bridge is they are willing to offer him a two-year extension. Willian, given his clear importance to Lampard, believes he is worth an extra 12 months. On the evidence of his recent performances, a three-year contract doesn't feel like he's asking for the Earth.

No wonder London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham are both moving themselves into position to strike.

David Beckham's Inter Miami 'on the brink of swooping for their first major star as Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi closes in a free transfer'

* Blaise Matuidi is set to sign for David Beckham's Inter Miami on a free transfer
* Juventus will excue the French midfielder from the final year of his contract
* The 33 year old featured regularly under Maurizio Sarri before his dismissal
* Miami president David Beckham has hinted he will sign more 'big-name players'

David Beckham's MLS club Inter Miami are on the verge of signing Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi, subject to a medical.

Matuidi has one year remaining on his current deal with the Serie A club, but Juve have agreed to terminate the contract so the 33 year old can complete a free transfer.

The Frenchman made 133 appearances and scored eight goals for the Turin-based club after joining from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.

The veteran made 45 appearances in all competitions in 2019-20 and was one of Maurizio Sarri's most-used players as Juve won a ninth consecutive league title.

However, Sarri was sacked after Old Lady's Champions League defeat by Lyon, and new boss Andrea Pirlo has already sanctioned a move for Matuidi.

Over three seasons at Allianz Stadium he won the Copa Italia, Supercoppa Italiana and three Scuddetti, also lifting the World Cup with France in 2018.

French midfielder Blaise Matuidi is expected to join MLS club Inter Miami on a free transfer. Matuidi was consistently selected by Maurizio Sarri during his Juventus tenure. Inter Miami president David Beckham has hinted the club will try to recruit 'big-name players'

Now Matuidi - who turned professional with Troyes in 2004 - is set to to become Inter Miami's marquee summer signing, according to Goal.

He is expected to pen a three-year contract with the United States club whose president is former Manchester United and England star David Beckham.

Miami played their first competitive game in March, losing 1-0 to Los Angeles FC, and the Herons are yet to avoid defeat in five matches.

Beckham and the Miami Freedom Park LLC investment group have spent over 60 million dollars in building the club's new stadium, and now they are determined to strengthen the playing squad.

When asked about Miami's recruitment policy, Beckham said: 'Have we got aspirations of bringing big-name players? Of course we do,' Beckham added.

'If we have the opportunity to do that then great, but we're more than happy with the roster we have. We have young players and a couple of experienced players. But going forward, who knows?'

Gonzalo Higuain 'on the brink of move to David Beckham's Inter Miami in two-year deal after Juventus terminated the veteran striker's contract 12 months early'

* Higuain is closing in on a move to David Beckham's MLS side Inter Miami
* The 32-year-old striker is believed to be on his way to America to sign deal
* He has been told by Andrea Pirlo that he is not part of his plans moving forward

Juventus have terminated Gonzalo Higuain's contract a year early, paving the way for him to join David Beckham's Inter Miami, according to goal.com

The 32-year-old striker is believed to be on his way to America after his agent agreed personal terms on a two-year deal with the MLS side.

The Argentine is surplus to requirements at the Allianz Stadium and Andrea Pirlo is looking to replace him with Barcelona forward Luis Suarez.

Higuain's brother - Nicolas - landed in Italy on Tuesday for negotiations with Juventus over his departure.

Gonzalo Higuain is nearing a move to David Beckham's Inter Miami from Serie A side Juventus. David Beckham is on the verge of completing a huge transfer coup for Inter Miami

He was expected to meet Juventus directors to discuss details of terminating Higuain's £6.3million contract by mutual consent.

Now those talks appear to have been concluded, Higuain is set to link up with David Beckham at his new MLS franchise Inter Miami.

Higuain has won three Serie A titles with the Italian club.

David Beckham's Inter Miami want Phil Neville to be their next manager with preliminary talks already taking place... six months before he will leave his post as England Women's boss

* Phil Neville is set to leave his current England post later this year in July
* Sarina Wiegman will replace him in the role following the delayed Olympics
* But Neville is Inter Miami's No 1 candidate to take over from Diego Alonso
* Former team-mate David Beckham is part of an ownership group at the MLS side

Inter Miami want Phil Neville to be their next manager and have made their move to bring him over to the United States.

Neville has been working out his contract in charge of England's women team - the terms of the deal he signed in January 2018 expire this July - but was expected to lead Team GB at this summer's Olympics. He will be replaced by Sarina Wiegmann, the Holland head coach.

However, it is now looking increasingly likely that Neville will cut his ties with the Football Association sooner rather than later as Inter Miami - who are owned by his old team-mate David Beckham - want him for the new MLS campaign.

Neville, 43, is excited about the prospect of a new challenge and it is understood that preliminary discussions have taken place with the view to making an appointment, potentially before the end of the weekend.

Diego Alonso is the club's current coach but Beckham has big ambitions for Inter Miami, who only finished 10th in the 14-team Eastern Conference last season.

Beckham wanted to sign Edinson Cavani when the striker's contract expired at Paris Saint-Germain but could not conclude a deal with his representatives.

David Beckham's Inter Miami want Lionesses boss Phil Neville to be their next manager. Neville will leave post as England Women boss and will be replaced by Sarina Wiegman. Neville has been approached by the MLS side, who are part-owned by Beckham, his former Manchester United and England team-mate

Alonso was announced as the club's first head coach in December 2019, having won three titles as head coach of Monterrey in Mexico's Liga MX, including the 2019 CONCACAF Champions League.

Following the season's return after the enforced break due to coronavirus, the club performed poorly to the end of the season and finished bottom of their 'MLS is back' group.

That meant the Inter Miami won just seven of their 23 matches, losing 13 times, a sequence that has called Alonso's future into question.

Neville has also had his critics leading England, but did take them to the 2019 World Cup semi-finals and victory in the SheBelieves Cup since taking over three years ago.

Inter Milan Bikin Inter Miami-nya David Beckham Harus Ganti Nama
Mohammad Resha Pratama - detikSport

Duh, nasibmu, Inter Miami..

Phil Neville confirmed as new Inter Miami manager after he quit England Women job six months early as MLS club's owner David Beckham hails his former England and Man United team-mate as a 'natural leader'

* Phil Neville has agreed a two-year deal to become the manager of Inter Miami
* David Beckham wants his former Manchester United team-mate to take over
* Leaving his England Women post early means the FA must now find an interim
* They need someone to lead at the Olympics before Sarina Wiegman takes over

Phil Neville is ready to face one of the biggest challenges after he was formally announced the new manager of David Beckham's MLS club Inter Miami.

The MLS club confirmed Neville's appointment on Monday with co-owner David Beckham hailing his former Manchester United and England team-mates as a 'natural leader' after he signed a two-year deal.

Inter Miami want the 43-year-old to take charge ahead of the new season after former manager Diego Alonso and the club mutually agreed to part ways earlier this month.

Neville said: 'I am incredibly delighted for this opportunity to coach Inter Miami and to work with Chris and the entire ownership group.

'This is a very young club with a lot of promise and upside, and I am committed to challenging myself, my players and everyone around me to grow and build a competitive soccer culture we can all be proud of.'

'This fantastic soccer-loving market deserves consistent performances and a winning mentality, and I look forward to getting to work.'

Beckham said: 'I have known Phil since we were both teenagers at the Manchester United Academy.

'We share a footballing DNA having been trained by some of the best leaders in the game, and it’s those values that I have always wanted running through our club.

David Beckham and Inter Miami will appoint Phil Neville as their new manager. Inter Miami confirmed Neville's appointment as their new head coach on Monday

'Phil has deep experience in football, as a player and as a coach at both club and international level, and over his career he has worked with many of the finest managers and players in the game.

'I know his qualities as a person, his decency, loyalty and honesty - and his incredible energy and work ethic. Anyone who has played or worked with Phil knows he is a natural leader, and I believe now is the right time for him to join.'

Neville, who was hired as head coach of the Lionesses in January 2018, had already announced last April that he would move on this summer.

But his decision to end his reign early means the FA must now scramble to find a new Team GB boss for July's Tokyo Olympic Games.

Holland's Sarina Wiegman has already been hired as a long-term replacement but she will not take over until after the Olympics.

Wiegman, named FIFA women's coach of the year in December for her work with Holland, was appointed last August to lead England at the 2022 European Championship and through the qualification programme for the 2023 World Cup.

In a statement, Neville said: 'It has been an honour to manage England and I have enjoyed three of the best years of my career with the FA and the Lionesses.

'The players who wear the England shirt are some of the most talented and dedicated athletes I have ever had the privilege to work with. They have challenged me and improved me as a coach, and I am very grateful to them for the fantastic memories we have shared.

'I'd like to thank the FA for the tremendous backing they have given me, in particular Sue Campbell and my talented support staff whose energy, commitment and enthusiasm has been crucial to helping us make the progress we have.

'I wish England Women every success in the future and look forward to following their journey in the years to come.'

FA Director of Women's Football, Baroness Sue Campbell added: 'I want to pay tribute to Phil for his significant contribution during his three years with The FA.

'After steadying the ship at a challenging period, he helped us to win the SheBelieves Cup for the first time, reach the World Cup semi-finals and qualify for the Olympics. Given his status as a former Manchester United and England player, he did much to raise the profile of our team.

'He has used his platform to champion the women's game, worked tirelessly to support our effort to promote more female coaches and used his expertise to develop many of our younger players.'

As Sportsmail reported earlier this month, Neville is excited about the prospect of a new challenge.

Beckham has big ambitions for Inter Miami, who only finished 10th in the 14-team Eastern Conference last season.

Their squad includes Gonzalo Higuain, the former Chelsea, Juventus and Real Madrid striker, as well as former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi.

Following the season's return after the enforced break due to coronavirus, the club performed poorly to the end of the campaign and finished bottom of their 'MLS is back' group.

That meant the Inter Miami won just seven of their 23 matches, losing 13 times, a sequence that led to Alonso's exit from the club.

Neville has also had his critics leading England, but did take them to the 2019 World Cup semi-finals and victory in the SheBelieves Cup since taking over three years ago.

David Beckham 'pumps another £11.2m into Inter Miami' as he increases stake with significant investment in MLS franchise ahead of second season

* David Beckham has invested another £11.2m into Inter Miami, say reports
* The former England captain launched his MLS club ahead of the 2020 season
* Beckham recently hired ex-England women's coach Phil Neville as head coach

David Beckham has invested an additional £11.2million into his MLS club Inter Miami in order to continue the development of his franchise, according to reports.

Former England captain Beckham launched his team in 2020 with the Herons taking part in last season's American top-flight and reaching the play-off preliminary rounds.

The club is set to embark on its second season as a professional club in the upcoming 2021 MLS season, which is planned to start in March despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

David Beckham has injected a further £11.2million into his MLS club Inter Miami, claim reports. Beckham's club appeared in the MLS 2020 season and reached the play-off preliminary rounds

And according to The Sun, Beckham has increased his stake in the Miami club by putting his own money in to improve the side ahead of the upcoming season.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid footballer oversaw the major signings of Juventus duo Blaise Matuidi and Gonzalo Higuain last year in what have been the most high-profile acquisition since Inter Miami was founded.

Inter Miami are also in talks with Stoke City defender Ryan Shawcross over a potential deal ahead of the 2021 season.

In early 2021, Beckham hired former United team-mate and close friend Phil Neville and the Herons' head coach after former coach Diego Alonso was relieved of his duties.

Alonso guided Inter Miami to the MLS play-off preliminary round last season via a tenth-placed finish in the Eastern Conference, though the Herons lost to Nashville SC to dash their hopes.

Neville was managing the England women's national team at the time of his appointment to the MLS side, though was planning to leave his former role in July of this year anyway.

Beckham was forced to come out and defend Neville's appointment after critics accused him of favouring his friend over other potential candidates.

The Inter Miami owner told a press conference last month: 'Of course, people are always going to turn around and say, "Oh, it's because he's your friend."

'It's nothing to do with him being my friend. Our ownership group doesn't just employ our friends.

'We employ the best people, whether it's on the field, off the field, in our backroom staff, the staff that we have working in our training facility, at the stadium.

'We are running a serious soccer club here. And I think at the end of the day, we hire people that we feel are best suited for the job.'
