Spain boss Luis Enrique has come out in defence of David de Gea following 'unfair' criticism directed his way after the loss to Croatia on Thursday.

The Manchester United goalkeeper was singled out for his part in Tin Jedvaj's dramatic winner in the Nations League, which leaves the group all to play for still.

For a man who is often placed in the top bracket of goalkeepers currently plying their trade, De Gea has struggled of late on the international stage.

Enrique, however, refused to indulge such reports, but backed De Gea despite his recent struggles.

'What's strange is what the criticism means. Criticism must be for the whole team and the coach, too,' he said.

'When it's aimed at one person it's unfair because this is a team sport.

'Goals aren't just scored because of the goalkeepers - when we concede we're all responsible. It's unfair to personalise it, but we accept criticism.

'I won't put my players on trial. I analyse things in a general sense and from there I make decisions.

'I won't talk about my preferences, as my actions speak louder than words.'

Leaving out someone with De Gea's credentials will certainly be a bold move from the Spain boss.

David de Gea is open to staying at Manchester United if the club offer him a five-year contract worth around £350,000 a week to match top earner Alexis Sanchez.

De Gea enhanced his reputation as the best goalkeeper in the world with a stunning save in United's Champions League home win over Young Boys on Tuesday.

But negotiations over a new deal have stalled, leading to speculation that the 28-year-old Spain No 1 could leave for Juventus or Paris Saint-Germain.

It is understood that De Gea is keeping his options open and United have not given up hope of persuading him to sign another long-term contract.

De Gea's deal runs out next summer and he can speak to foreign clubs from January 1. However, United will trigger an automatic 12-month extension next month if they cannot agree terms with his representatives.

Even then, the club run the risk of losing De Gea for nothing in 2020 and may be forced to sell at the end of this season to secure a transfer fee in the region of £75million.

De Gea's camp have rejected United's offer of £275,000 a week and want parity with the club's top earner Sanchez, who is paid £350,000 plus substantial bonuses.

De Gea's representatives are aware United gave Luke Shaw a big pay rise when he signed a £180,000-a-week contract last month, and also agreed to midfielder Marouane Fellaini's demands in the summer.

As well as improved personal terms, De Gea wants assurances over United's plans before committing himself to a new deal.

He believes he is the No 1 goalkeeper in the world and wants to play for a club that shares his ambitions.

Jose Mourinho's side are seventh in the Premier League, 14 points behind leaders Manchester City, and have been heavily criticised for their performances.

Manchester United have triggered the 12-month option to extend David de Gea's contract until 2020 as they battle to keep the Spain goalkeeper at Old Trafford.

United were under pressure to activate the clause because De Gea would have been a free agent at the end of the season and able to talk to foreign clubs from January 1.

The extension means United have more time to negotiate with De Gea's representatives who have rejected terms of £275,000-a-week and are understood to want parity with United's top earner Alexis Sanchez on £350,000 plus bonuses.

Alternatively, the extra 12 months on De Gea's current deal will enable the club to demand a transfer fee of up to £75million if they decide to sell the 28-year-old Spaniard next summer amid interest from Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.

United triggered the 12-month extensions for Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and Ashley Young until next summer when all three will be free agents unless they can agree new terms.

Mata and Herrera have yet to accept their contract offers while Young's representatives remain in talks over a new one-year deal.

Meanwhile Sanchez will be assessed on Friday after suffering a hamstring injury in training.

Dea Gea sudah main di MU sejak 2011 dengan total 333 penampilan dan mengantarkan MU meraih satu trofi Premier League, satu trofi Liga Europa, satu trofi Piala FA, satu trofi Piala Liga Inggris, dan satu Community Shield.

"Saya rasa poinnya adalah soal kesepakatan antara apa yang klub ingin berikan dan apa yang ingin didapat oleh pemain. Itu hanya feeling saya, semua akan tuntas dengan baik," tutup Mourinho.
