Hasil Undian Play-Off Liga Champions

Bola.net - Pelatih Tottenham Hostpur, Harry Redknapp tampak tersenyum saat melihat hasil undian untuk play-off Liga Champions, sebab tim besutannya akan melawan tim yang tergolong ringan yakni klub wakil Swiss, Young Boys.

Redknapp diperkirakan akan dengan mudah menaklukkan Young Boys untuk selanjutnya bergabung bersama klub wakil Inggris lainnya yaitu Chelsea, Manchester United dan Arsenal di babak penyisihan grup Liga Champions yang akan berlangsung bulan depan.

Sementara itu tim lain yang mempunyai peluang untuk maju ke babak berikutnya adalah klub asal Spanyol, Sevilla serta Sampdoria yang mewakili Italia.

Big match dalam hasil undian ini adalah partai antara wakil Ukraina, Dynamo Kiev melawan klub Belanda, Ajax. Leg pertama play-off ini akan dilangsungkan pada tanggal 17/18 Agustus, sedangkan leg kedua dilangsungkan seminggu kemudian.

Sepuluh pemenang dari play-off ini akan bergabung dengan 22 tim lainnya dalam babak penyisihan grup, yang undiannya akan dilaksanakan di Monaco pada tanggal 26 Agustus nanti.

Fase grup Liga Champions 2010/2011 akan segera bergulir. Menariknya Real Madrid yang kini dilatih Jose Mourinho, pemegang medali juara tahun lalu, kemungkinan besar akan langsung berhadapan dengan salah satu raksasa Eropa.

Babak playoff telah merampungkan seluruh pertandingan dinihari ini. Dengan delapan tim yang sudah lolos maka lengkaplah sudah 32 tim peserta kompetisi terelit di benua Eropa. Dan pengundian pun akan dilakukan di Nyon, Swiss, Kamis (26/8) malam nanti.

Seperti biasa bakal ada delapan grup yang diisi oleh empat tim, yang mana setiap tim diambil dari empat pot berbeda. Empat pot itu menunjukkan status unggulan pertama hingga keempat yang dihitung dari koefisien ke-32 klub dalam penampilannya di turnamen Eropa selama lima musim terakhir.

Inter Milan sebagai juara bertahan tentunya berhak berada di urutan teratas pot pertama, setelah musim lalu hanya menempati pot kedua. Sementara tempat Liverpool di pot pertama, yang musim ini bermain di Liga Europa, diambil alih Olympique Lyon.

Grup neraka pun bisa langsung tercipta jika melihat susunan unggulan, di mana Madrid sebagai pemegang rekor trofi terbanyak Liga Champions masih berada di pot kedua, dan kan bertemu salah satu klub raksasa di babak grup. Ini buntut dari performa buruk mereka di lima musim terakhir yang selalu mentok di babak 16 besar.

Paling Menarik jika undian nanti mempertemukan Madrid dengan Inter di satu grup. Ini berarti Mourinho tak butuh waktu lama untuk langsung berhadapan dengan klub yang dibawanya meraih treble winner musim lalu itu.

Atau bisa saja Madrid bertemu Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, AC Milan dan Bayern Munich. Tentu itu bakal jadi laga yang menarik bukan?

Jangan lupakan juga kuda hitam macam Benfica, AS Roma, Valencia, Tottenham Hotspur atau Lyon yang mungkin bisa membuat kejutan di babak grup ini. Juara dan runner-up Grup A hingga H akan melaju ke 16 besar sedangkan peringkat ketiga berlaga di 32 besar Liga Europa. Matchday I akan dimulai 14-15 September.

Di babak grup ini klub yang berasal dari satu negara tak akan bertemu langsung dan berlaku hingga babak perdelapanfinal. Barulah di babak perempatfinal country protection itu dicabut sehingga memungkinkan terjadinya pertemuan antara klub dari negara sama.

Pot 1: Inter Milan, Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Olympique Lyon

Sir Alex Ferguson can’t wait for tonight's Champions League group stage draw (live on ManUtd.com 17:00 BST), and he's eager to test his men against the finest sides in Europe’s premier competition.

United’s frustrating quarter-final exit at the hands of Bayern Munich last season clearly still rankles with the United boss, who told ManUtd.com: “We were just terribly unlucky last season.” But he will no doubt use that as motivation to his players when the competition kicks off on 14 and 15 September.

“We’re looking forward to another Champions League campaign,” he told us. “It’s always a competition you enjoy being a part of. The important thing, as I say every season, will be to start well. I always set the figure of 10 points as our target in the group stage and it’s important we get to that as quickly as we can, just like last season.”

Sir Alex expects a resurgence from the English sides after the Premier League failed to provide a semi-finalist last term, while Barcelona and Real Madrid, now managed by old adversary Jose Mourinho, are among his tips to challenge for the top prize.

"All the usual suspects will be there fighting it out for the trophy again this year," said the boss. "You’ve got to think Barcelona and Real Madrid will be closer this season. Last season’s winners Internazionale could be a force again, and I think that’ll be the case with ourselves and the other English teams as well. We’ll be up there challenging."

The 2010-11 UEFA Champions League group stage is now set after the draw took place in Monaco on Thursday and it proposes some interesting match-ups and intriguing possibilities.

The trophy holders Inter have been dealt a tough hand in Group A facing Werder Bremen, Tottenham Hotspur, and Twente. The likely group of death would seem to be Group G with Real Madrid, Milan, Ajax, and Auxerre.

Meanwhile, Barcelona in Group D will be relatively pleased to battle against Panathinaikos, Copenhagen,

Last year's finalists Bayern Munich also have a Germany - Italy duel versus Roma. Basel and Cluj round out Group E.

English giants Manchester United will take on Valencia, Bursaspor, and Rangers and Chelsea's Didier Drogba will visit his old stomping ground versus Marseille.

Champions League new boys Tottenham Hotspur were handed a baptism of fire in the group stage - drawing holders Inter Milan in Group A.

Manchester United face a Battle of Britain in Group C alongside Rangers, while Arsenal secured a reunion with Eduardo da Silva by pulling Shakhtar Donetsk and in Group H and former Chelsea midfielder Didier Drogba will take his French champions Marseille to Stamford Bridge in Group F.

Manchester United were the first team out of the hat and, as well as Rangers, will also have to face Spanish side Valencia and Turkish champions Bursaspor.

Alongside Inter, Spurs must play Bundesliga side Werder Bremen and Twente, the side Steve McClaren led to the Dutch title before moving to Wolfsburg.

Carlo Ancelotti, who is determined to land the Champions League crown after regaining the Premier League title last season face Slovakian champions Zilina and Aiden McGeady's new side Spartak Moscow as well as Marseille.

The Gunners face a lengthy trip to face Ukrainian champions Shakhtar and will also venture into Eastern Europe to face Partizan Belgrade. Celtic's conquerers Braga are the other side in Group H.

Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid were the team everyone were fearing from Pot Two and the Spanish giants landed AC Milan, Ajax and Auxerre in Group G.

UEFA also used the gala to reveal the winners of their annual awards.

Inter Milan goalkeeper Julio Cesar was named goalkeeper of the year after helping the Italians to the Champions League last season, though he suffered disappointment with Brazil in the World Cup finals.

Cesar's Inter and Brazil team-mate Maicon was named defender of the year, while another San Siro idol Wesley Sneijder took the midfielder's award.

Argentina striker Diego Milito made it a clean sweep for Inter - who won the Italian League and Cup as well as Europe's top competition - by taking the trophy for striker of the year.
