Klub Meksiko Pachuca Jual Seluruh Pemainnya

(ant/lex)

Copa Libertadores: Juara Bertahan Internacional Tersingkir

(ant/lex)

Uruguay Fans Jibe Lionel Messi With Spoof Fridge Commercial

Consumes no energy? Only works with Euros? Freezes really well? Failed in the South African market? We reckon someone is getting in a sly dig at L’il Leo and his performances for Argentina here folks – in time-honoured fridge metaphor format…

Does anyone understand the bit about the ‘egg holders’ in the orange strap, or is our dodgy translation just wide of the mark again?

Argentina Pecat Batista
Arya Perdhana - detiksport

Sergio Batista removed as Argentina coach after poor Copa America

Sergio Batista has agreed to step down as coach of Argentina after their quarter-final exit at the Copa America.

Hosts Argentina went out to champions Uruguay on penalties in the last eight.

Batista, 48, had been in charge for a year, initially on a caretaker basis, after Diego Maradona was dismissed following the 2010 World Cup.

An Argentine Football Association (AFA) spokesman said Batista had not been sacked, but it had been decided to "rescind" the coach's contract.

"He put his future as the head of the national team up for consideration by the executive committee," added spokesman Ernesto Bialo.

Argentina, whose last major trophy was their 1993 Copa America triumph, have cancelled a friendly scheduled for 10 August against Romania in Bucharest.

"The coaching staff of Argentina teams at all levels are under evaluation by the national teams commission," added Bialo.

"There are no deadlines, there's no rush, no urgency [to appoint a new coach] so there will be a process of consideration and study."

Batista oversaw a disappointing Copa America campaign that started with Argentina drawing their first two group games, against Bolivia and Colombia.

They beat Costa Rica 3-0 to qualify for the last eight, but then lost on penalties to neighbours Uruguay after a 1-1 draw. Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez missed his spot kick in the shoot-out.

Argentina's team boasted an array of world stars, including current World Player of the Year Lionel Messi of Barcelona, his Barca team-mate Javier Mascherano, formerly of Liverpool, and Manchester City target Sergio Aguero, but Batista failed to match that talent with results.

Maradona, who captained Argentina to their last World Cup triumph in 1986 but fared less successfully as coach of the national team, was critical of Batista's reign.

After the Copa America he told Argentina's Radio Belgrano: "If I had only beaten Costa Rica, I would have gone on my own. What is happening right now is not the fault of the players."

Batista's tenure as Argentina coach started well with friendly wins over Spain and Brazil but the AFA has decided to make a change before qualifying starts for the 2014 World Cup, which is being hosted in neighbouring Brazil.

Local media have suggested several names as potential replacements for Batista.

One of the favourites is Alejandro Sabella, who won South America's premier club competition, the Copa Libertadores, with Estudiantes in 2009 and recently took charge of Al-Jazira in the United Arab Emirates.

Sabella had playing spells with Sheffield United and Leeds United between 1978 and 1981.

Paraguay coach Gerardo Martino, who is Argentine, and Carlos Bianchi, who has won four Copa Libertadores as manager, have also been mentioned as possible replacements for Batista.

The AFA has also announced it plans to merge the teams from the country's top two divisions into one next year, combining all 20 from the top flight and 16 or 18 from the second tier.

It is likely that the teams will be divided into regional groups, meaning a reprieve for River Plate who were relegated for the first time in their history at the end of the 2010-2011 season.

Uruguay rise as Copa America makes mark

A total of 88 matches have been taken into account for the July edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, almost a third of which were part of this year’s Copa America, which therefore had a considerable impact on this month’s positions.

Following their 3-0 final win over Paraguay, champions Uruguay (5th, up 13) not only moved back into the top ten but also achieved their best-ever position. Finalists Paraguay also moved up six places to 26th, while defeated semi-finalists Peru (25th, up 24) and Venezuela (40th, up 29) were the biggest movers in the top 100.

Furthermore, thanks to their outstanding results in the group stage, Chile (11th, up 16) are once again knocking on the door of the top ten.

After their impressive triumph in the CONCACAF Gold Cup the month before, Mexico’s exit from the Copa America without a single point has brought them back down to earth, costing them their place in the top ten and taking them down 11 places to 20th.

Despite also making an early exit from the Copa America, Brazil have gone up one place (4th, up 1), but still have ground to make up on the leading trio of Spain, the Netherlands and Germany.

The Caribbean nations of the Dominican Republic (132nd, up 40), the US Virgin Islands (149th, up 44), the Bahamas (152nd, up 45) and Aruba (168th, up 32) have all made an impression on the ranking after making a successful start to their qualifying campaigns for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™.

With Colombia now 35th and Venezuela 40th, CONMEBOL have 80 per cent of their members in the top 50, the biggest share of all the confederations. UEFA, meanwhile, remain the confederation with the most members (28) inside the top 50, while CAF have eight and the AFC and CONCACAF have three each after both losing one of their places to CONMEBOL.

Argentina Pilih Sabella Sebagai Suksesor Batista
Arya Perdhana - detiksport

Klub Brasil Pecat 30 Pelatih Dalam Semusim Terakhir

Venezuela beat Argentina for the first time ever, Messi looks stunned

Just when it seemed things were coming together for Argentina and the country's "collective psychosis" about Lionel Messi would be cast out by his goal in their 4-1 win over Chile on Friday, it all goes wrong yet again. Tuesday's 1-0 loss to Venezuela in their second World Cup qualifier marked the first time that has ever happened. Not just in World Cup qualifying or since the world reset in the year 2000 -- in all matches ever.

Argentina manager Alejandro Sabella offered his thoughts after the game (via FIFA.com):

"We have to analyse what we should improve. The qualifiers are a long tournament and we must improve some aspects."

Well, I've already invested the time in a deep, deep analysis and came up with a detailed list of what Argentina need to improve:

-Everything.

-Martin Demichelis' entire existence.

Once they clear up those two simple things, Messi will stop looking like he just watched someone stomp on his Lego Ninjago Mountain Shrine playset.

Tim Terpuruk, Suporter Palmeiras Pukuli Pemainnya Sendiri

(ap/zul)
