Manchester - Manajer Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson, merasa kesulitan mengembangkan para pemain mudanya. Oleh karena itu, dia meminta waktu lebih banyak kepada FA untuk melatih para youngster.

Fergie menyinggung hal ini setelah timnya dikalahkan Barcelona di final Liga Champions. Dia melihat Azulgrana bisa sedemikian perkasa dalam beberapa tahun terakhir karena akademi La Masia yang mereka miliki tak pernah berhenti menelurkan bakat-bakat baru.

Fergie ingin akademi MU bisa kembali menghasilkan pemain-pemain hebat. Untuk itu, dia meminta waktu lebih banyak untuk mendidik para pemain mudanya.

FA punya peraturan yang membatasi tim dalam melatih para pemain muda. Setiap tim hanya diberi waktu satu setengah jam dalam sehari untuk melatih para pemain akademi. Di Spanyol, peraturan semacam ini tidak ada.

"Kami cuma diizinkan untuk melatih para pemain muda selama satu setengah jam, tapi mereka (Barcelona) bisa melatih setiap jam dalam satu hari kalau mereka mau," keluh Fergie di SkySports.

"Itu adalah keuntungan besar yang mereka dapatkan dan mereka punya filosofi yang fantastis," imbuh manajer asal Skotlandia itu.

"Kami berharap bahwa dalam beberapa tahun ke depan pelatih kami akan bisa menghabiskan lebih banyak waktu bersama pemain muda, untuk melatih mereka dasar-dasar, kemampuan teknis, dan kepercayaan diri untuk menjaga bola sepanjang waktu," tuturnya.

"Kami bagus dalam hal itu, tapi tak sebagus Barca pada saat ini. Ini adalah tantangan yang bagus. Kami harus selalu menerima tantangan," tuntas pria 69 tahun ini.

Nah baca baca di media usulan fergie untuk benar benar merombak sistem pembinaan diatas agar harapannya kedepan Inggris (dan EPL tentunya) bisa menelurkan pemain pemain berbakat layaknya barcelona, telah disetujui FA, dan katanya mulai berlaku di musim depan..

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has had his calls for radical changes to the coaching of young players in academies approved by the Premier League.

According to News of the World, the Elite Performance Plan was approved by chairmen at an end-of-season meeting, and paves the way for top English clubs to match and even surpass the so-called Barcelona model of training youngsters.

The current system, where the coaching of players is limited to 2,000 hours between the ages of 10 and 18 has been amended to allow players to be coached for up to 10,000 hours.

In addition, the rule that players have to live within 90 minutes of their clubs has been scrapped altogether, although the issue of compensation for clubs from lower divisions for their youngsters is still to be resolved.

The changes proposed by Ferguson will come into force at the start of the 2012-13 season.

Manajer Manchester United Sir Alex Ferguson meminta agar proposal Elite Performance Plan dapat disetujui petinggi pengelola Liga Primer Inggris agar bisa diterapkan pada musim depan.

Elite Performance Plan berisikan rencana mengenai perubahan radikal dalam sistem kepelatihgan pemain muda di level akademi.

Dilansir News of the World, Elite Performance Plan telah disetujui oleh para petinggi klub dalam pertemuan akhir musim, dan menghasilkan pemerataan bagi tim-tim Liga Primer Inggris agar bisa menyamai, bahkan melebihi, model pembinaan pemain muda di Barcelona.

Sistem yang berlaku saat ini adalah pelatih dibatasi waktu melatih hingga 2.000 jam antara usia 10 dan 18 tahun. Sedangkan sistem baru yang diajukan adalah pemain bisa mendapatkan kepelatihan hingga 10 ribu jam.

Sebagia tambahan, aturan mengenai pemain harus berada di klub selama 90 menit juga dihilangkan, walau masalah kompensasi bagi klub divisi rendah untuk pemain muda mereka masih dicarikan solusinya.

Proposal perubahan yang diajukan itu diupayakan bisa diberlakukan mulai musim 2012/13.

The EPP proposes that children are now assessed as young as four according to some reports, for football talent. Far too young and too soon. It's also looking at reducing the cost of recruiting talent for top clubs. The S-Mirrors response is that a lot of young lives are going to be ruined with false promises of stardom given that 1% of the current trainees make and the rest are all washed up with no qualifications and unemployable by 21. The new plan is going to take youngsters out of classrooms and onto football pitches.

There is a big part of me that agrees with this dehumanisation of sport theme. I saw the cost to one guy who was held up as a star of the future at 14 got a broken leg at 16 passed no exams because he invested all his time in football and went from earning over £300 pw from soccer in 1990 to being on and off the dole queue since.

What a tragedy!! The EPP is a misdiagnosis since the problem is with the pressure to have instant results and the reluctance of managers under pressure to give youth a chance. Look at how Ancelloti tried to give Sturridge chances but had to loan him out because of the pressure he is under. Reality is this plan is the wrong solution to a perceived problem.

We don't have a shortage of young people 16-18 with skill, but we stop developing at 18. At Arsenal, you could say Manure, def Baca they do more to mentor players 18-22. That's what we need to do more of. My suspicion is that the Fair Play plan which involves a requirement to field Home Grown players and youngster will be effective at encouraging top teams to develop the young players that we have. Just as the UEFA ruling in the 1990s that Scottish and Irish Players counted as foreign forced Liverpool and Manure to give chances to little known players like Fowler, Owen, Super Mac, Redknapp, Scholes, Beckham, Nevilles, Giggs, Cara, James and so on..... the new rules will refocus our clubs on development at the 18-22 age again.

Let's not forget that youth policy doesn't win world cups, it doesn't produce world class players. Youth policy produces or identifies as some would say, POTENTIAL. There is a big difference between potential and doing it.

And you can have the best system, best people in the world it does not guarantee results. Let's not forget Shanks thought Dalglish and Keegan not good enough at 16, and many other pro's not good enough. Do we want to flatten clubs independence and innovation under one plan that accepts or rejects people at 4,5,6,7,8,9,10???????

Gareth Southgate reveals FA youth football initiative

The Football Association has unveiled plans that could revolutionise youth football in England.

Under the proposals, children will not be allowed to play 11-a-side games until under-13 level.

"In 11-a-side matches there are fewer touches for players," said FA head of elite development Gareth Southgate.

"If we go to that format too young then it becomes much more of an athletic-based game. We have huge pitches that kids can't get around."

This and other proposals, such as games being played on smaller pitches and with smaller goals, are the result of an 18-month investigation of grassroots football.

Any changes will need to win support from 75% of the FA's voting shareholders at a vote in September.

The FA has highlighted that three of the most successful countries in recent years - Spain, France and Italy - do not allow 11-a-side games until under-14 level, and Southgate said he felt there was an appetite for change in the English game.

"People have seen the way that the likes of Barcelona have played this year and they're asking: 'Why can't our kids play that way?'," said the former Middlesbrough manager.

"We want them to play that way. We feel that what we are proposing will give them the environment to develop those skills.

"We have down the years produced some technically gifted players but we want to increase that pool of talent so that if our best one or two players get injured, there is a bigger talent pool to come in."

Research shows that children who are slower to mature physically are being forced out of the game before they reach their potential.

Factors such as the pitches they play on being too big means smaller more gifted players tend to lose out in favour of more athletic players.

Southgate stated: "It benefits the physically stronger players but there's a real danger that we lose the smaller, more technically gifted ones.

"There is a high drop-out of players in that nature."
