Manchester United have 'paid Alexis Sanchez £16,000 PER MINUTE in the Premier League this term while Marcus Rashford has cost £767 per minute'

* Figures show Alexis Sanchez has made £15,601-a-minute at Manchester United
* He has played 615 minutes of Premier League action for United so far this season
* They also reveal that Marcus Rashford has cost Man United £767-per-minute

Alexis Sanchez has 'earned' nearly £16,000 per minute of Premier League action this season for Manchester United, according to the Sportsman.

The publication has compiled data from the start of the Premier League season (August 10) until February 11 to document how much each player at the Red Devils has earned in the 2018-19 campaign.

To calculate the figures, as reported by the Sun, the Sportsman deducted wages from players for the weeks they have been out injured, then divided their collective earnings during the course of the campaign and divided it by the minutes played in the league.

Alexis Sanchez has 'earned' nearly £16,000-per-minute of Premier League action this season

Marcus Rashford in contrast has cost Manchester United £767-per-minute in the top flight

So in the case of Sanchez, who they report earns £505,000-a-week, he has been available for 19 of United's 26 matches. The combined total across those games is £9,595,000.

If you divide £9,595,000 by 615 (the number of Premier League minutes he's played this season so far) you get £15,601 - his per-minute earnings.

This figure is in stark contrast to the in-form Marcus Rashford who has 'earned' £767-per-minute according to the Sportsman's data.

They say the club's No 10 earns £45k-a-week and has played 1,525 minutes of top-flight football this season.

United resume their Premier League campaign on Sunday with a mouthwatering clash against bitter rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Manchester United stars facing 25% pay cut if they miss out on the Champions League... which could help Real Madrid sign Paul Pogba

* Current contracts at Manchester United include clauses over wage drops
* That includes a 25 per cent drop if they do not reach the Champions League
* Real Madrid would receive a boost in Paul Pogba chase if wages went down

Manchester United's stars could see their pay drop by as much as 25 per cent if they miss out on Champions League qualification.

And, according to The Sun, that could help Real Madrid as they look to bring midfielder Paul Pogba to the Santiago Bernabeu during the summer transfer window.

Contracts at Old Trafford are structured so that up to a quarter of wages are taken away if they do not earn a place in Europe's elite club competition.

Manchester United's stars could see their pay drop by as much as 25 per cent next season. Paul Pogba is being pursued by Real Madrid and a wage drop could aid them in their chase. The 26-year-old has two years left on his United contract, which nets him £300,000-a-week

United are currently sixth in the Premier League and face a tough task on Wednesday night when they take on Barcelona in the Champions League.

Real would therefore be encouraged to make a move if they do not qualify, having made Pogba a key summer target after Zinedine Zidane made it clear he wanted to work with his compatriot.

The 26-year-old has two years left on his United contract, which currently nets him £300,000 a week.

Reductions in wages are intended to protect United from the drop in revenue that comes with missing out on Champions League football.

That comes in contrast to other top teams in the Premier League. Arsenal and Manchester City instead add to pay packets after reaching the Champions League.

There is an openness about wage reductions at United — they are mentioned in annual results.

And United have previously revealed that their kit deal with adidas goes down by 30 per cent if they do not play in the Champions League for two straight seasons.

United face Barcelona in their Champions League quarter-final first leg at Old Trafford on Wednesday night and are currently three points behind Spurs, who are fourth, in the Premier League table.

Alexis Sanchez will STILL be Man United's second-highest paid player despite being shipped out on loan to Inter Milan with Old Trafford bosses still picking up £300,000 a week of his wages

* Alexis Sanchez will be Man United's second highest earner despite loan move
* The 30-year-old forward is set to join Inter Milan on loan for the whole season
* Inter have agreed to pay close to £4.5m of the Chilean's £21m annual salary
* United will pay Sanchez £300,000 a week, which is even more than Paul Pogba
* David de Gea is the only United player that is being paid more by the club

Alexis Sanchez will astonishingly still be the second highest earner on Manchester United's books despite being set to join Inter Milan on loan.

Sportsmail has learned that Sanchez pockets an eye-watering £400,000 a week, before bonuses, at United after signing from Arsenal last January.

Inter have agreed to pay close to £4.5million of the Chile international's £21m annual salary, meaning United will have to subsidise a significant portion of his wages.

Man United will pay £300,000 of Alexis Sanchez's wages despite his loan move to Inter Milan. Sanchez is on the verge of joining Inter, who will pay £4.5m of his annual £21m earnings

That £21m is Sanchez's basic wage. Bonuses if met could earn him as much as £560,000 per week.

It is understood that United will still pay around £300,000 towards Sanchez's weekly earnings despite the striker spending the season on loan at Inter.

David de Gea is the only United player who will be getting paid more by the club than Sanchez.

The Spanish goalkeeper earns £375,000-a-week after signing a bumper new contract to extend his stay at Old Trafford earlier this summer.

Sanchez will even be bagging more money from his parent club than several key first-team players, including Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.

The Chile forward is due in Milan on Wednesday to complete a medical and team up with former team-mate Romelu Lukaku, who scored on his debut in a 4-0 win over Leece on Monday.

MAN UNITED'S TOP EARNERS

1. Alexis Sanchez (£400,000 a week)
* United will now pay £300,000 towards his weekly wages after striking an agreement for his loan to Inter Milan

2. David de Gea (£375,000 a week)

3. Paul Pogba (£280,000 a week)

4. Anthony Martial (£200,000 a week)

5. Marcus Rashford (£200,000 a week)

David de Gea is the only player who will be getting paid more by United than Sanchez

Paul Pogba will pocket £20,000 a week less than Sanchez will be receive from United

The deal for Sanchez does not include any obligation to make the move permanent.

The San Siro club have not ruled out signing Sanchez on a full-term basis but are not planning on offering him anything more than £150,000 per week.

Sanchez's move to Inter will end a nightmare 18 months at United, where he managed just five goals in 45 appearances.

UNITED AND MALTA CEMENT LONG-STANDING TIES

Manchester United and the Government of Malta today [Friday] announced a multi-year partnership which will see United promote Malta as a tourist destination to its global fan base.

At an event held at the club’s Aon Training Complex, Manchester United players Juan Mata, Phil Jones and Andreas Pereira, as well as Reds legend Bryan Robson, welcomed officials from the Maltese Tourism Ministry and the Malta Tourism Authority to celebrate the collaboration.

The club has deep and enduring ties with Malta; the Maltese Supporters' Club, one of the oldest and most engaging of all the official Manchester United Supporters' Clubs, recently celebrated its 60th anniversary.

As part of the partnership, Visit Malta and Manchester United will encourage the club’s fans around the world to experience the vibrant, young, exciting and beautiful country, with the Maltese Tourism Board providing attractive travel offers exclusively for Manchester United supporters.

Through the partnership, Visit Malta will get strong exposure during home matches and on the club's digital marketing channels, social and printed media.

Manchester United’s director of partnerships, Sean Jefferson, comments: “Manchester United has long-standing links with Malta, welcoming hundreds of Maltese fans to Old Trafford every season.

”We are proud of our association with the country and look forward to working with the Maltese Tourism Ministry and Malta Tourism Authority to highlight the destination’s many great qualities to our international fan base.“

Malta's Tourism Minister, Dr Konrad Mizzi, comments: ”We are working on several initiatives to increase Malta's brand awareness to attract tourists from new, non-traditional markets, attract more foreign direct investment and businesses, as well as increase Malta's visibility around the world.

“This partnership complements our tourism strategy to consolidate our traditional markets such as the UK, whilst targeting new markets from the Eurasia region, where Manchester United holds a very strong following. I strongly believe that partnering with a club with such a renowned sporting heritage will help to place Malta on the map and establish itself as the number one destination to visit.”

Crisis, what crisis? Struggling Manchester United post record revenues of £627m - and under-fire Ed Woodward says they WILL back Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's 'philosophy' and rebuild the team next year

* Manchester United have revealed their revenue for the latest financial year
* The club have posted a record revenue of £627.1m, according to accounts
* Chief executive Ed Woodward insists they are still committed to onfield matters

Ed Woodward delivered a ringing endorsement of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Tuesday as Manchester United announced record revenues of £627.1million.

The executive vice-chairman said United’s manager, under pressure after an underwhelming start to the Premier League, deserved time.

‘It’s important we are patient while Ole and his team build for the future,’ Woodward said. ‘We will continue to focus on the long-term strategy and won’t be influenced by short-term distractions.’

United, who lost 2-0 at West Ham on Sunday, are 10 points behind leaders Liverpool after six games — but Woodward said he was confident about what the future held.

‘The progress we’ve made on the business side underpins our continued investment in the football side,’ he explained. ‘Much of the investment in the academy, the recruitment department and the training ground is not immediately apparent to those on the outside, but we believe we have put the building blocks in place for success.’

There has been criticism over the club’s structure after a series of expensive transfer blunders and United have been pondering whether to bring in a technical director.

‘Regarding the speculation around a head of football, we are continually reviewing and looking at the potential to evolve our structure on the football sides.

'We remain focused on our plan of rebuilding the team and continuing to strengthen our youth system, in line with the philosophy of the club and the manager,' he said in a statement on Tuesday.

'This is reflected in the recent addition of three exciting first team players, key player contract extensions and the talent we have coming through our Academy.

'Everyone at United is committed to delivering on our primary objective of winning trophies.'

Manchester United have posted record revenues for the latest financial year of £627.1million. Ed Woodward insists that the club remains committed to winning trophies on the pitch

‘Much of the speculation around this type of role focuses on recruitment, an area we’ve evolved in recent years. We feel the players that we’ve signed this summer demonstrate that this approach is the right one.

‘Returning to the roots of our club’s ethos of youth-led, attacking football is the right way forward and everyone at the club — the board, the manager, the squad and all of the staff — remain resolute in their desire to get Manchester United back to the top of English football.’

Despite a significant outlay on the likes of defenders Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka and winger Daniel James over the summer, the inability to replace striker Romelu Lukaku has been scrutinised.

Woodward added in the club's quarterly investors' call: 'We and our growing global fan-base demand success. Success means winning trophies. That target and that standard has never changed for Manchester United.

'These investments, together with the commitment we've made to Ole and his coaching staff in March have given us the building blocks for success.

'Whilst we're confident this investment will deliver results, it's important that we are patient while Ole and his team build for the future.

'We will continue to focus on the long-term strategy and won't be influenced by short-term distractions.'

Regarding a potential director of football, Woodward said: 'We're continually reviewing and looking at the potential to evolve our structure on the football side.'

The club, whose stock has dropped more than seven per cent this year, is also lagging behind other European clubs that have either surpassed it in terms of revenue or are quickly looking to close the gap.

Last week, Spanish giants Barcelona reported 990 million euros (£872.8m) in turnover for 2018-19 and expect to surpass one billion euros (£881m) this year, while United's domestic rivals Manchester City and Liverpool are also breathing down their necks.

Manchester United have racked up the highest wage bill in Premier League history at £332m, as salary spend continues to grow despite their WORST start to a season for 30 years

* Manchester United's wage bill is the highest in the Premier League at £332m
* The club's spending on salaries has grown by 43 per cent in the last three years
* De Gea (£375,000 a week) and Pogba (£290,000 a week) are massive earners
* It comes amid United's woes and their worst start to a season for 30 years

Despite making their worst start to a season in 30 years, Manchester United's on-field problems have made no impact on their wage bill after the club published their latest financial results.

The Premier League giants have racked up a staggering spend on player salaries, the highest ever reported by an English side.

Financial documents revealed on Monday show the club's incredible £332million yearly wage bill is an all-time high that has grown by £100m - 43 per cent - in the past three years.

The figures come by way of Swiss Ramble, a financial blogger on Twitter, with United the first Premier League club to publish their numbers for 2018-19.

United continue to pay a number of eye-watering sums to their top players in recent years, despite their woes on the pitch.

Goalkeeper David de Gea recently signed a new £375,000-a-week deal while Paul Pogba earns £290,000-a-week.

The wage bill shot up £36m from £296m to £332m in recent months, largely due to the club's outlay on improving the first team squad.

The £332m figure also includes seven months of wages paid to Alexis Sanchez, who earns £400,000 a week at Old Trafford.

Manchester United's on-field problems have made no impact on their latest financial results. High earners like David de Gea ensure United's wage spend is the Premier League's highest. The huge spend on wages comes amid Manchester United's abysmal start to the new season

Inter Milan, who took Sanchez on loan this summer, agreed to pay close to £4.5m of the Chile international's £21m annual salary, meaning United are still having to subsidise a significant portion of his wages.

United's Premier League rivals are also due to release their financial results soon but the Red Devils' numbers are even more astonishing when placed in the context of their decline on the pitch.

United look unlikely to challenge for a place in the Champions League next season after a dismal start to the new campaign.

Defeat by Newcastle last time out saw United drop to 12th in the Premier League, two points above the relegation zone.

Manchester United's deal with Chevrolet has financial penalty if Old Trafford side are relegated to the Championship

* Chevrolet's contract with Manchester United expires at the end of next season
* United would have to be relegated for two seasons for penalty to be in effect
* American car manufacturer is unlikely to renew £59million-a-year deal
* Relegation clause has been protection for Chevrolet since it was signed in 2012

Chevrolet took the surprising step of inserting a relegation clause into their seven-year shirt sponsorship deal with Manchester United.

United have been looking at potential new sponsors, with the American car manufacturer General Motors unlikely to renew their £59million-a-year contract that runs down at the end of next season.

Sportsmail has learned that the agreement signed in 2012, before Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement, included financial protection should United suffer an unthinkable relegation to the Championship.

That would only come into force after two consecutive seasons outside the top flight, industry sources stated.

United declined to comment. A spokesman said: 'Chevrolet is a fantastic partner and we will continue to work with them to activate and maximise the sponsorship.' It is believed that Aon, the previous principal sponsors from 2010-2014, did not include any such stipulations.

United have sacked three managers - David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho - during Chevrolet's association with them. Sportsmail reported that indifferent league performances have left GM bosses unimpressed with their heavy investment.

Chevrolet are only the fifth shirt sponsor in United's history and club officials are confident that their sixth will financially eclipse it.

Manchester United's sponsor Chevrolet, seen on Marcus Rashford, have a relegation clause. Chevrolet's deal expires at the end of next summer and United are looking for a new sponsor

A number of major brands have expressed interest already and executive vice chairman Ed Woodward will pump that money into squad improvement.

'We are immensely proud of our partnership with Manchester United,' a Chevrolet spokesman said.

'Since we became partners in 2012, the sponsorship has had a significant and positive impact on the Chevrolet business driving awareness for us in our key markets and has inspired and empowered millions of people through our activation programmes where the club is one of the most recognised brands.

'We look forward to continuing to work together closely to activate and maximise the sponsorship.'

Manchester United expect to bring in up to £67m less than they did last year as failure to qualify for the Champions League hits home.

The club released their first quarter financial results and are forecasting revenues of £560m to £580m, a significant drop on the £627.1m raked in during 2018-19.

United’s latest figures also revealed that wages are down by £6.8m (8.8%) year on year - thanks to the club not having to pay Champions League bonuses, while debt has shot up by £137.3m to £384.5m - which is largely down to cash spent on buying players.

Manchester United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward is set to face a £67million loss. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side failed to qualify for this season's lucrative Champions League

The debt that exists as a legacy from the Glazer family’s leveraged takeover of the club remains at the same level. United finished sixth last season and qualified for the Europa League.

They currently lie in seventh place, already 18 points behind leaders Liverpool. Ed Woodward, executive vice chairman, said: ‘We have a clear vision in terms of football philosophy and recruitment.

'The significant investments that we have made in recent years in areas such as transfers, recruitment infrastructure, analytics and our Academy are already beginning to bear fruit.

'We are very proud to be shortly approaching a milestone 4,000th game featuring an Academy player, and we are particularly optimistic regarding the considerable young talent currently coming through.

'Our ultimate goal is to win trophies by playing exciting football with a team that fuses graduates from our Academy with world-class acquisitions.’

Elsewhere, commercial and sponsorship revenue is up, while broadcasting revenue dropped significantly by £9.9m – again down to non-participation in the Champions League.

Employee benefit expenses for the quarter were £70.2 million, a decrease of £6.8 million, or 8.8%, over the prior year quarter, primarily due to reductions in player salaries - another result of non-participation in the UEFA Champions League.

Manchester United are closing in on a world record £70million-a-year shirt sponorship deal with Chinese company Haier.

United are looking to replace their current £64million-a-year deal with Chevrolet, which is set to expire in 2021.

As reported by The Sun, United executives have held talks with Haier, whose brands include Hoover.

Manchester United are edging closer to a £70m-a-year shirt sponsorship deal with Haier. United's current deal with Chevrolet is set to expire at the conclusion of the 2020-21 season

Haier are eager to replace Chevrolet, with senior representatives of the company having been in the United Kingdom since last week.

United are determined to show that they are still a major force in a commercial sense despite their struggles on the pitch in recent years.

The Red Devils haven't won the Premier League title since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side drew 3-3 away to Sheffield United on Sunday and have won just four of their 13 Premier League games this season.
