Timo Werner
Man United 'looking to beat rivals Liverpool to RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner' as Ole Gunnar Solksjaer eyes forward reinforcements in January
* Manchester United have identified RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner as a target * United need fresh attacking options with Rashford and Martial as sole options * Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have to beat off competition from Liverpool for Werner * The 23-year-old has a release clause of £27million and has 11 goals in 16 games Manchester United are looking to steal a march on Liverpool in their pursuit of RB Leipzig star Timo Werner as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to reinforce his forward line in January. United's lack of options up front was again showcased on Saturday afternoon as Solskjaer's side fell to a 1-0 defeat away to Bournemouth. The Norwegian has previously acknowledged the heavy burden placed on young striker Marcus Rashford to provide goals for the team. Manchester United have identified Germany striker Timo Werner as a transfer target in January. United are in desperate need of attacking options with just Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial as sole options up front. United will have to see off competition from Liverpool for the signature of the 23-year-old And, according to The Sun, Solskjaer will look to acquire the services of German striker Timo Werner, with the 23-year-old garnering interest across Europe with his impressive performances for the Bundesliga club. Werner has scored 74 goals in 129 games for his side while providing 33 assists for team-mates since joining from VfB Stuttgart in 2016, and would be a welcome addition into a seriously misfiring United attack. The striker signed a new deal with Leipzig in the summer that runs for another four years after a move to Bayern Munich failed to materialise. The new contract is said to include a buy-out clause of a mere £27million. Despite the relatively low fee, Solskjaer will have to beat off competition from high-flying Liverpool to land the signature of the talented striker. United officials believe that the guarantee of regular first team football will lure the German to Old Trafford. Werner has continued with his impressive goal scoring form this season, having netted 11 goals in 16 games for club and country, including a hat trick in Saturday's 8-0 rout of Mainz. Code:

Re: Timo Werner
Timo Werner torn between Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United as RB Leipzig striker admits uncertainty over his future
* Timo Werner named three Premier League teams when talking about his future * He is torn between joining established clubs or one that needs 'big changes' * Germany international is available for £51million this summer but could yet stay * He dropped hint: 'Do I want to stay at my team and make something great? Timo Werner is still undecided over his future and named three Premier League teams factoring in his choice. The Germany international is uncertain over whether to join an established club like Liverpool and Manchester City, or one needing 'big changes' like Manchester United. Ahead of RB Leipzig's clash with Tottenham on Tuesday night, he said: 'At this time in professional soccer there are two different variations. 'The first is to be part of a team like Liverpool or Manchester City. They have a good working team. The teams have also great coaches. 'But this is the question: do you want to go to that kind of team, because the situation is already that hard for each member and you want to be a part of it? That's one point you have to look at.' He went on to name-check Manchester United, while admitting the Old Trafford club are not what they once were. 'The other side are teams which need some big changes, because they just won a few big titles, but they are not able to compete on the highest level anymore. For me Manchester United is one of these teams. Timo Werner seems likely to be on the move this summer but his future is still undecided. The RB Leipzig striker has been prolific this season and said he may yet stay with the club. Werner is unsure whether to join an established side or one on the way back to the top Werner then opened the door to staying at RB Leipzig and helping the team win silverware. He added: 'So at this point of my career I'm asking myself: do I want to be part of a new team, to build up something new, or do I want to stay at my team and make something great?' Werner has scored 28 times in all competitions this season and the explosive Leipzig striker has a release clause of £51million. Europe's top sides are interested and he has previously spoken of his admiration for Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool, though evidently his future remains up in the air. Code:
