Default Saul Niguez

Manchester United would have to pay 'astronomical fee' to sign Atletico Madrid's Saul Niguez in January - with Spaniards desperate to keep star man unless offer is 'impossible to ignore'

* Paul Pogba is still being regularly linked with a big-money move to Real Madrid
* If he leaves, Man United want Saul Niguez to replace him in central midfield
* Reports state that Atletico Madrid will ask for an 'astronomical fee' for Saul
* He is likely to cost at least £128m if he is to be prised away from Madrid

Atletico Madrid are desperate to keep hold of Manchester United target Saul Niguez in January and would demand an 'astronomical fee' to let him go.

Saul is one of the club's brightest academy graduates and has already made nearly 250 appearances for the club's first team.

He has attracted interest from a number of top clubs around Europe, but Mundo Deportivo claim that he won't leave unless a huge figure is proposed.

Saul Niguez is a transfer target for United. It has been reported that Atletico will ask for an 'astronomical fee' for midfielder Saul

United are one of the teams credited with an interest, but the Spanish paper report that the offer would have to be 'impossible to ignore' for Atletico to sell him.

That fee is said to be £128million at the very least, with the Spaniards desperate to keep one of their best players until at least the summer.

United are considering Saul as a potential replacement for Paul Pogba if he is to leave Old Trafford for Real Madrid.

Zinedine Zidane is a huge fan of his fellow Frenchman and the Bernabeu outfit are still being continuously linked with the midfielder.

Saul, meanwhile, is under contract until 2026 in Madrid - another sticking point for any potential suitor - and is settled at his club.

In fact, after coming through the Real Madrid and then Atletico Madrid academy, he has not left the city - even staying close by while on a season-long loan at Rayo Vallecano back in 2013-14.

Default Re: Saul Niguez

Manchester United suffer blow in pursuit of Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez, with Spanish giants 'unwilling to accept anything less than his £135m buyout clause this summer', despite financial issues caused by the coronavirus crisis

* Atletico Madrid want £135million for Manchester United target Saul Niguez
* The Premier League side are only prepared to offer £70million for the Spaniard
* The midfielder has had an impressive season but his contract runs until 2026
* Players' values have dropped during the pandemic but Atletico will not negotiate

Atletico Madrid will demand £135million for Manchester United target Saul Niguez despite the financial implications caused by the coronavirus crisis.

The midfielder is a top target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side with the club prepared to bid up to £70million as well as offer him a huge salary increase.

But Atletico are refusing to accept an offer of anything below the 25-year-old's £135million release clause, according to Marca.

Players have seen their value drop dramatically during the coronavirus pandemic with domestic football leagues suspended.

But the Spanish club are not prepared to negotiate on the price of their star asset, despite the financial situation.

United sent scouts to watch Saul as he helped his side knockout Liverpool in the Champions League last month but he has been on the club's radar for a while.

Atletico Madrid will demand the £135million release of Saul Niguez from any potential suitors. Manchester United are interested in the midfielder but are only prepared to offer £70million. The Spaniard was the star as the LaLiga side knocked Liverpool out of the Champions League

The midfielder has scored four times in 37 appearances for Atletico this season, including the only goal in the home-leg victory over Jurgen Klopp's side.

But the LaLiga side are under no pressure to sell the Spaniard as was tied down to a long contract in 2017 which will keep him at the club until 20206.

The midfielder would likely be a replacement for Paul Pogba with United having to sell the Frenchman to raise the necessary funds, however, they are unlikely to recoup the £100million they spent in 2016.

Manchester City have also been linked with Saul with David Silva set to leave the Etihad when the current campaign comes to an end.

Default Re: Saul Niguez

Manchester United are NOT likely to make a move for Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez as they would need to sell a midfielder first... but Chelsea remain interested in a loan move for the Spaniard as transfer deadline looms

* Manchester United are not in the race to sign Atletico Madrid's Saul Niguez
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side do not have the finances or squad space to sign him
* United would need to sell a midfielder in the coming days to justify a move
* Chelsea are interested in the Spanish midfielder who has been offered a move

Manchester United are distancing themselves from an imminent move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez.

Atletico are looking to sell the Spain international this window as he is one of their biggest earners. United admire the 26-year-old and explored a deal earlier this summer, including the proposal of a loan with option to buy.

However, finances, plus transfer strategy, dictate that unless they lose a midfielder in the next few days they will wait before adding another player in that department.

Saul is highly-regarded as one of Europe's best midfielders but he is understood to be on around £300,000 a week and would want guaranteed playing time if he moved.

Chelsea are also among the clubs to have been offered Saul, who has been with Atletico since the age of 17 and was part of their title-winning side last season.

They have an interest in a loan but also have an abundance of midfielders and are looking to move on three or four of those first.

Tiemoue Bakayoko is in talks over a move to AC Milan, while they also have Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ethan Ampadu, Ross Barkley and Danny Drinkwater looking for regular game time.

Manchester United have distanced themselves from a move for Atletico Madrid's Saul Niguez. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would need to sell a midfielder before plotting a move for the Atleti star. Saul has attracted interest from Chelsea but the Blues need to move midfielders on as well

Thomas Tuchel has admitted he overused Jorginho at the end of last season while N'Golo Kante has had a number of niggling injuries so Tuchel could decide he needs more quality in depth over the next few days.

Chelsea hold an interest in Declan Rice of West Ham but their £100m valuation has proved an obvious obstacle to any deal there.

Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni is another option to have been discussed as well as Eduardo Camavinga at Rennes but he is considered one for the future and is out of contract next summer with United also interested.
