Priceless Bale is going NOWHERE! Villas-Boas confident Spurs will keep their star man even if Real Madrid bid £60m

Gareth Bale will still be a Tottenham player next season, even if Spurs fail to qualify for the Champions League.

That was the bullish verdict from his manager Andre Villas-Boas yesterday, on the day Bale was voted player of the year by the Football Writers’ Association, to add to his PFA awards.

Bale was valued at £60million by Real Madrid director of football Zinedine Zidane earlier this week, and the vultures will circle if Spurs miss out on the top four.

Hot Spur: Gareth Bale brilliance all season has kept Tottenham in the hunt for a top four place

But Villas-Boas said: ‘The information I have from the club is that the player is here to remain, regardless of if we achieve the objective of Champions League.

‘The club has to move forward by holding on to its best players. Gareth, with the recognition and the further experience he has had this year, will be even more assertive.’

Villas-Boas believes that there is even more to come from Bale and the manager is desperate for Tottenham to be the beneficiaries as Bale continues his quest to become one of the best players in the world.

‘Gareth, at his age, has the advantage of time to progress further with his game,’ said Villas-Boas. ‘He is playing at the top of his game in the Premier League which is extremely difficult. He can become even better. I have had the privilege to work with a couple of great players and Gareth joins them among the best.’

Villas-Boas argues that Bale’s ambitions can be achieved at Spurs, but without Champions League football, the Tottenham manager knows he will be missing a trump card this summer even if he has assurances from the board.

And if Spurs do finish out of the Champions League places, that is the ideal scenario for a host of clubs who are ready to test Spurs chairman Daniel Levy’s resolve with an eye-watering offer.

‘Whatever price tag the player has doesn’t matter to us because he is our player and a player we have to keep to make sure we achieve our objectives and continue to progress,’ said Villas-Boas.

Dead-ball dead-eye: Bale buries a free-kick against Liverpool

Scoop: Bale claimed the PFA gongs this week, capping a memorable season for the Welshman

Up on his own: Bale has won all three player awards this season

That said, he was also forced to admit that decisions regarding club finances lie in Levy’s hands, while the trouble for Spurs is the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich may not be prepared to wait for another season.

Meanwhile Spurs, Manchester City and Arsenal have been alerted after Real Madrid confirmed they will sell Gonzalo Higuain. Tottenham failed in a bid to sign the Argentine last summer and Real Madrid general manager Jose Angel Sanchez said: ‘In a great club like Real, we believe we need two No 9s of a high level. We have Benzema and Higuain, Higuain will leave, Benzema will stay and two others will come.’

Real are also continuing to monitor Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

Gareth Bale Must Decide Future Quickly to Give Tottenham Options

Gareth Bale is an immensely talented player who would have no shortage of potential suitors should he decide it's time to move on from Tottenham. He must make a decision about his future shortly after the season ends to help Spurs set their summer plans.

Right now, Bale and his Tottenham teammates are focused on the final match of the campaign. They are locked in a tight Champions League race with Arsenal, which could play a key role in his decision-making process.

Spurs currently hold a two-point edge, but the Gunners control their own destiny thanks to a match in hand. By the time both clubs take to the pitch on Sunday, they will know exactly what needs to happen to lock up a spot in the top four.

Paul Carr of ESPN provided updated odds:

— Paul Carr (@PCarrESPN) May 12, 2013
Once the dust settles over the weekend, Bale must quickly start thinking about whether or not staying at Tottenham for another season is the right move.

His latest comments about the situation, passed along by Goal.com, don't give a definitive statement either way. He confirms he would like to play abroad, but also says he's not thinking about it much right now.

Quote:
"I have said in the past I would love to experience playing abroad. You can never tell what the future holds, but at the moment I am concentrating on what I am doing here.

"It gets asked a lot at the moment, but it is something I am not thinking too much about at the moment. My mind is not wandering anywhere."
In many respects, indecision is the worst possible stance for Tottenham. While the club would obviously love for their most valuable asset to stay, it needs to know as soon as possible if he does want to leave to give them an entire transfer window to work things out.

Not only would Spurs have to stage what they would hope becomes a massive bidding war for Bale, but also have to start targeting players to replace him. That doesn't even take into account the other voids they are hoping to fill before next season.

In other words, the sooner Bale makes a final choice about his future, at least in the short term, the better off Tottenham will be heading into the summer.

It's understandable that he might want to wait until the Champions League situation plays itself out before deciding. After that, he needs to let the club know his stance right away.

The 23-year-old winger has enjoyed another tremendous season at White Hart Lane. He's accounted for 20 goals (which ranks third) and eight assists in Premier League play. He was recently honored by the Professional Footballers' Association as both the Player and Young Player of the Year.

He's always possessed the skill set necessary to become one of the league's top players. He finally put it all together this season and lived up to that high billing, even while shifting around to various roles.

Real Madrid are among the interested sides and have been linked to a potential high-priced move for Bale. According to Lee Bryan of the Daily Mail, the club's supporters even voted that they would rather see him join the squad than Neymar, another big name heading into the summer.

If Bale made it clear he wanted to play elsewhere, Real would likely be far from alone in the sweepstakes to land him. He's a rising star with virtually limitless potential.

That's also why he must make Tottenham aware of his decision as quickly as possible. Spurs can't afford a summer-long saga that forces them to make a late deal without being able to find a suitable replacement. The club needs a chance to wheel and deal.

The only way that's possible is if Bale gives them a heads up in the near future. If he wants to stay, Tottenham will be ecstatic. If not, at least the club would have plenty of time to work the market.

What Would Be a Fair Price for Spurs' Gareth Bale?

Over the past few months, Gareth Bale's incredible form for Tottenham has caused him to be linked, via the Daily Mail, with big-money moves away from his club.

Now, Spurs would obviously like to hold on to their best player and, given that he is under contract for some time, hold most of the cards in this transfer saga.

Further, a quick look at how the club has dealt with transfers over the past few years (the negotiations with Real Madrid for Luka Modric spring to mind) reveals that it will not be shy in holding on to Bale through pressure from club and/or player.

Add on the fact that Bale has many good reasons to stay at White Hart Lane, and the likelihood of a summer transfer for Bale seems in doubt.

However, there is one factor that could override all of these other factors and lead to a transfer this summer: money.

While Tottenham are right to want to hold on to Gareth Bale, it would be silly for the club not to consider a transfer should a rich club offer an absurd amount of money.

As good as Bale is and as much as he has carried Spurs over the past few months, the opportunity to trade the Welshman for five or six very good players would be hard to pass up.

So just how much would be enough to force Spurs to consider selling?

Just a few weeks ago, Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas made it clear that his club wouldn't sell Bale even if Real Madrid were to make a bid of £60 million.

Such a fee would qualify as the second highest in history, just £20 million short of Cristiano Ronaldo's record £80 million sale to Real Madrid. That transfer, which happened in 2009, was for a 24-year-old Ronaldo who was coming off a Champions League title and runner-up medal in back-to-back seasons at Manchester United.

Tottenham launch €12m David Villa bid

The Barcelona star wants to leave Camp Nou but any deal could hinge on Champions League qualification, with the Londoners ready to sell Emmanuel Adebayor

Tottenham have launched an ambitious €12 million move to sign Barcelona striker David Villa in the summer - though the switch could hinge on Champions League qualification.

Villa's representatives have told Spurs that he would be very keen to move to the north London club should they match his wage demands, with Spurs prepared to offer €130,000-a-week to land the Spain international.

Tottenham are planning a summer overhaul of their attacking options and will listen to offers for Emmanuel Adebayor, who has scored just five Premier League goals this season and has an uncomfortable relationship with manager Andre Villas-Boas.

Spurs can clinch a place in the Premier League top four on the final day of the season on Sunday if they beat Sunderland and Arsenal fail to win at Newcastle.

A place in next season’s Champions League would be worth at least €39m to the Londoners and would significantly increase their summer spending budget.

Villa, 31, has emerged as a leading target and the club believe they can convince him to accept a cut on his €165,000-a-week salary at Barca, although his agent Victor Onate has been described as "difficult" and would demand a significant agent’s fee.

Spurs tried to rival Arsenal for Villa’s signature in the January transfer window but Tito Vilanova's side refused to sell Spain’s all-time top scorer midway through the season.

The Gunners are believed to have cooled their interest in Villa while Barcelona are now prepared to sell the striker in the summer as they look to freshen up their squad.

Villa has scored 15 goals in all competitions this season but has struggled for form and fitness since suffering a broken leg in December 2011.

The former Valencia man is eager for a fresh start and would welcome a move to the Premier League. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is ready to adjust the club’s strict wage budget this summer to convince Gareth Bale to sign a new contract and to attract star names to White Hart Lane.

In addition to Villa, Villas-Boas also wants a powerful striker to lead the line as a replacement for Adebayor and remains interested in long-term target Leandro Damiao of Brazilian club Internacional.

Spurs are also monitoring Christian Benteke’s situation but are not prepared to match Aston Villa’s €23m asking price for the Belgian following his 19 Premier League goals this season.

Adebayor has come to life in the final weeks of the campaign but has frustrated both the Spurs staff and the crowd with his below-par performances since completing a €6m switch from Manchester City last August.

Villas-Boas has an uneasy relationship with the Togolese after he complained about his lack of first-team opportunities earlier in the season.

Adebayor’s wage demands means Spurs may find it difficult to find a buyer for the ex-Arsenal forward and Villas-Boas only wants to sell the 29-year-old once he has a replacement in place.

Soal Villa, Spurs Tunggu Jawaban Barca
Spurs telah melepaskan tawaran sebesar 10 juta poundsterling.

VIVAbola - Tottenham Hotspur dilaporkan telah melepaskan tawaran sebesar 10 juta poundsterling (sekitar Rp148 miliar) untuk mendapatkan striker Barcelona, David Villa. Kini, Spurs tengah menunggu keputusan El Barca.

Gareth Bale Should Leave Tottenham After Spurs Miss Champions League

Despite leading Tottenham Hotspur to a 1-0 victory over Sunderland with a beautiful goal on Saturday, it likely won't be enough to keep star midfielder Gareth Bale on White Hart Lane.

The Spurs' disappointing fifth-place finish in the English Premier League standings will likely—and should—result in Bale's departure, as Joe Bernstein of the UK's Daily Mail reports.

Gale has grown tired of playing for a club not participating in Champions League football and won't be playing in next year's World Cup (via Bernstein), which could open up the doors for Bale to leave the Spurs and join a contender in the Premier League.

According to Bernstein, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Manchester United are all interested in the scorer. A move to the Red Devils would undoubtedly make Manchester United the consensus favorite next season—David Moyes surely wouldn't mind bringing in a talent like Bale in his first season at the helm in Old Trafford.

Either way, it's safe to say the Spurs wouldn't have been competing for fourth place and a spot in the Champions League without the play of Bale this season. The 23-year-old netted 21 goals for Tottenham and was arguably the single-most important player to any Premier League squad this season.

With not much help alongside him—the next closest goalscorer was Jermaine Defoe with 11 goals. It's hard to imagine Bale sticking around for another disappointing season with the Spurs when powerhouses like Manchester City and Manchester United are knocking.

Bernstein notes that Bale made no commitment to his current club when he accepted the Footballer of the Year award, only adding to the speculation that Bale's days with the club are numbered.

Lastly, Bernstein makes it sound like Tottenham wouldn't be on par with keeping an unhappy Bale. Combine that with the fact that Andre Villas-Boas could potentially be targeting players like Leandro, Joao Moutinho and Christian Benteke as transfers, and the odds of Bale remaining with the Spurs don't seem to be in Tottenham's favor.

Gareth Bale Reportedly Will Sign New Contract to Stay with Tottenham Next Season

Gareth Bale has reportedly decided to end any speculation that he is leaving Tottenham by signing a new contract to stay with the club.

Simon Johnson and Tom Collomosse of the London Evening Standard reported the news of the 23-year-old's deal:

Quote:
Standard Sport understands the Wales international...has committed his future to the club with a £130,000-a-week deal and will remain at White Hart Lane next season.

It is believed, though, that the Welshman is likely to be allowed to leave in 12 months’ time should an enormous bid — in excess of £50 million — come in for him.
The Guardian's Dominic Fifield supports Johnson and Collomosse's report.

This will allow the club to retain one of the best young scorers in the league or at least secure that it will take a lot of money to take him away.

Bale finished third in the English Premier League with 21 goals this season, trailing only Robin van Persie and Luis Suarez. He also added five more goals in various other levels of competition for Spurs.

Unfortunately, the club could not compete with Chelsea and Arsenal down the stretch and ended the year in fifth place. This will hold the squad out of the Champions League for at least another year.

As a result, many organizations around Europe have inquired about Bale, hoping to bring him into a more competitive situation. According to Matt Law of Mirror Football, Manchester United had been one of the biggest suitors over the past month.

However, it is now clear that Bale will look to finish what he started with Tottenham. By keeping the forward and possibly adding some talent in other spots, the club is certainly capable of contending for one of the top spots in the EPL next season.

It appears the rest of the world will have to look in other places this summer to acquire an elite scorer just entering his prime.

Sherwood 'one million per cent' sure of Bale stay

Tottenham coach Tim Sherwood has claimed he is "one million per cent certain" that Gareth Bale will remain at the club next season.

Bale is reported to be in talks to sign a bumper new contract with Spurs after his sparkling performances this season drove the club to within a point of a return to the Champions League.

Yet Sunday's failure to overhaul Arsenal and snare a top-four finish has fuelled speculation that the PFA and Football Writers' Player of the Year may be tempted away from White Hart Lane by a bumper £50 million bid from Real Madrid or Bayern Munich.

Amid suggestions that the Tottenham hierarchy - including club owner Joe Lewis and chairman Daniel Levy - will hold meetings to plot the club's future in the Caribbean this week, Sherwood has cemented the suspicion that Bale is unlikely to flee the Spurs ship any time soon.

"I believe one million per cent he will stay at Tottenham," Sherwood told talkSPORT. "I don't see him banging the door down trying to get a move because he is fantastically happy at Tottenham.

"I see him around the training ground every day, he's got a good working relationship with the manager and he loves his team-mates. They show him the respect that he deserves and he gives it back to them.

"It's crucial for all teams when you're at the level of the league that we are, pushing for Champions League football, that players like Gareth Bale stay at your club.

"There will be a lot of clubs wanting to take Gareth, but he's 23-years-old and fortunately for Gareth and Tottenham, he's got good advisors. They know that it's not a flash in the pan, that he's got built-in quality and the opportunities will arise for him in the future if he wants to go elsewhere some time.

"There's time for him to go overseas or to another Premier League club but I think he needs to stay here. He is developing fantastically well, he just needs to put a level of consistency in his performance over a few seasons.

"He is already shown he can do it week-to-week, he needs to kick on next year and produce the same quality that he has this year."

Spurs line up £10m deal for Barcelona striker Villa in AVB bid to boost forward line

Tottenham have opened talks over a £10million swoop for Barcelona striker David Villa and have renewed their interest in long-term target Leandro Damiao.

Sportsmail revealed Andre Villas-Boas’ interest in the striker earlier this month, and the Spanish club have now been made aware of Spurs’ intention to land Villa ahead of next season.

The Nou Camp club are willing to sell the Spain international this summer, who has found first-team football difficult to come by this season, but want a fee of around £12million.

Spurs-bound? Barcelona striker David Villa is a target for Tottenham, who rate him at £10 million

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will not match Barca’s asking price but hopes he can negotiate a lower price.

Arsenal also have a long-term interest in Villa, but the striker is understood to be less of a priority for Arsene Wenger.

Villas-Boas, who will listen to offers for Emmanuel Adebayor, wants to bolster his striking options this summer.

And talks between Spurs and Internacional over an £18m move for Damiao have reopened.

The Brazil striker came close to joining the White Hart Lane club in January, but Levy could not agree a fee.

However, discussions between both clubs have recommenced with Spurs chiefs confident of finally landing the centre-forward.

Tottenham are also growing increasingly confident that Gareth Bale will stay despite concrete interest from Real Madrid.

As revealed by Sportsmail yesterday, the Spanish giants will test Spurs’ resolve to keep the Wales forward with a £65m bid.

But Spurs are confident Bale will sign a contract extension, worth in the region of £170,000 per week, before the start of the season.

Strike a pose: Spurs remain confident that star player Gareth Bale will sign a new deal at the club
