Re: [EPL] West Ham United 2-2 Manchester United
Was Robin Van Persie's Equalizer Against West Ham Offside?
Robin van Persie scored the equalizing goal as Manchester United drew 2-2 with West Ham United on Wednesday in a thrilling English Premier League match. The goal, however, probably shouldn't have counted. Van Persie's goal helped United avoid defeat, but in the context of the season, it did little else. With the draw, United remained well ahead of City in the title race; with a loss, the Red Devils still would have been the overwhelming favorites. Even so, West Ham manager Sam Allardyce fumed about the decision after the match, lamenting the loss of a "famous victory" for his side. Allardyce said (h/t 101 Great Goals): "It's a bit difficult to take when that's their job—their job is to give the offside decisions when they appear in front of them. And this is a blatant one." For his part, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson played coy. "Really?" he said in a post-match interview. "Well, I didn't see that to be honest with you." So who's right? Does Allardyce have a gripe? Let's look at the incident in detail. The incident happened in the 77th minute and started with United's Shinji Kagawa. The Japanese midfielder cut inside along the edge of the box and curled his shot—it took a deflection along the way—off West Ham's upright. The ball rebounded to van Persie, who buried his shot for his 21st league goal of the season. Now comes the tricky part. When Kagawa took his shot, van Persie was in an offside position. That is not in question. The questionable part of the decision was whether van Persie was active at the time. Here is a view of the line around the moment Kagawa took his shot. Van Persie is the white-shirted player beyond the offside line near the middle of the image: If you argue that van Persie was not active when Kagawa shot, then United's goal should stand. If, however, you consider him a threat in the box—as I do—when Kagawa took his shot, then the goal should have been ruled out. Either way, it was a difficult call for the linesman, who had to decide in a split second not only whether van Persie was offside, but also whether he was active at the time of the shot. It's worth pointing out that goal-line technology might have indirectly eased the assistant's task by taking the burden of watching the goal line off him. Freed from that responsibility, the linesman's only duty would have been watching West Ham's defensive line and Manchester United's attackers for a potential offside. Then again, this was an especially difficult, split-second decision. What do you make of it? Should they goal have stood? For me, it was offside and should not have counted. Code:

Re: [EPL] West Ham United 2-2 Manchester United
19/04/2013 10:00 - ManUtd.com, A Bostock, G Thompson
Sir Alex: Same squad for Villa Sir Alex Ferguson will send bruised but unbowed players into Monday night's big game against Aston Villa. The Reds emerged from the midweek trip to West Ham with a few minor knocks, but these seem unlikely to disrupt the manager's plans for the visit of Paul Lambert's young side. "We’ve got a few bumps and bruises from Wednesday," reported Sir Alex on Friday. "Vidic had got a beautiful bruise on his cheekbone and after coming out of that war zone, we’re quite happy no-one was seriously injured. "The team were fantastic the other night in terms of standing up [to West Ham]. It’s the type of game you get with Big Sam [Allardyce]’s teams. We had to deal with it and I think a point was well deserved. "We maybe could have won it in the last 20 minutes when we had all the play and one or two chances. Nonetheless you have to be satisfied coming back after being down twice and getting a point. The last two away games [Stoke and West Ham] have shown how determined we are to win the league. I've admired my team in these games. We've done very well." The boss has the weekend to further assess his players as he prepares for another pivotal match in the push towards the 20th league title. "Every game now seems to be more important than the last one. When you get nearer to that line that’s the way it is. I have the same squad for Monday and hopefully we'll pick the right team." |

Re: [EPL] West Ham United 2-2 Manchester United
19/04/2013 10:06 - ManUtd.com, J Tuck, G Thompson** Shinji withdrawal explained One of the talking points from Wednesday’s 2-2*draw at West Ham arose when Sir Alex Ferguson opted to take off Shinji Kagawa, who had been one of United’s best players, with 12 minutes left. The Japan international had just created the Reds’ second equaliser with a shot that hit both posts and fell to Robin van Persie, when he was replaced by Javier Hernandez. A few minutes earlier, Ryan Giggs had been brought on in place of Wayne Rooney and Sir Alex admitted he should probably have left Shinji on as the leaders hunted a winner. The United manager said: “As far as taking Rooney off the other night, it was simple: he wasn’t playing as well as Shinji was. In so many games Wayne is better than most players but on the night Shinji was playing so well. “The ironic thing was, when we were chasing a goal with 14 minutes left, I decided to put Chicharito on and Shinji made the second goal. “I’d already given the fourth official the card, Chicha was standing on the touchline and then we scored the second goal. I think if I’d have changed my decision then we would have won it. “Shinji was doing really well but unfortunately he came off. Chicha came on simply because you always think he’ll get a chance in the game. At that point we wanted to win it and you make decisions like that that maybe are not fair.” Shinji has impressed in recent games, playing either on the left or just behind a striker, and also made United’s first goal at Upton Park for Antonio Valencia after a neat one-two with van Persie opened the Hammers up. “He’s doing very well for us now,” Sir Alex added. “He has fantastic composure on the ball and his decision-making is good. He has a good selection of passes; he seems to always pick the more sensible pass. “And he made a terrific first goal. There were a few involved in that build-up but he had the composure to take the player on in a tight area and roll the ball to Valencia for a tap-in. He’s doing very well.” |

onside (versi wasit)
offside bedanya, yang satu aktif bergerak pas bola ditendang, yang satunya lagi cuma diem. mungkin itu yang jadi pertimbangan wasit. kalo mau gampangnya, ini konspirasi Gill utk United
