Entahlah Om Andi.

Default Re: Memandang Masa Depan Manchester United

Manchester United XI: Pedro addition would give Louis van Gaal a formidable frontline... here's how they could line up next season

* Manchester United closing in on £22m signing of Pedro from Barcelona
* Pedro and Memphis Depay could play in behind Wayne Rooney
* Juan Mata could play just ahead of new signings Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin
* Luke Shaw and Matteo Darmian offer attacking options out wide
* But the future of first-choice goalkeeper David de Gea remains uncertain

Manchester United are moving closer to signing Barcelona forward Pedro after meeting the £22million release clause in his contract.

The 28-year-old could even complete his move in time to line up in United's Barclays Premier League opener at home to Tottenham on Saturday lunchtime, though Barcelona want to keep him until after next week's UEFA Super Cup match with Sevilla.

Pedro, who scored 98 times for Barcelona, is a replacement for Angel di Maria, who was sold to Paris Saint-Germain for £44.4m - a loss of £15m - following a disappointing debut season at Old Trafford.

But how will Louis van Gaal tweak his line-up to accommodate the Spain international?

How Manchester United could line-up this season if Pedro completes his signing from Barcelona as expected

GOALKEEPER

The goalkeeping situation at Old Trafford is a little chaotic as we approach the start of the campaign, with only the future of summer signing Sergio Romero clear.

Although David de Gea is expected to pull on the gloves against Spurs on Saturday, it is also anticipated he will be heading to Real Madrid before the close of the window on September 1.

United originally would not allow De Gea to depart without defender Sergio Ramos moving in part-exchange, but this now appears unlikely.

If he goes, Van Gaal will feel he has an adequate contingency after signing Romero on a free transfer from Sampdoria.

The Argentina international of 62 caps brings with him plenty of experience and formerly worked under Van Gaal at AZ Alkmaar in Holland, his first club in Europe.

Victor Valdes, another former Barcelona player, has been demoted to the Under 21s and is unlikely to feature much this season.

DEFENCE

United's defence was pretty shambolic at the beginning of last season. A spate of injuries left Van Gaal's options decimated and the slow start meant any title bid was out of the question.

He will hope for better fortune 12 months on. Although a centre half hasn't arrived, the purchase of Matteo Darmian from Torino has strengthened the right-back position and, on the evidence of pre-season, the 25-year-old looks an exciting proposition.

Van Gaal has predicted great things for Luke Shaw this season now alarms over his fitness levels have been addressed and he will rightly be the first-choice left back, offering plenty of support going forward.

There is then a choice of seven centre-halves: Marcos Rojo, Chris Smalling, Jonny Evans, Phil Jones, Daley Blind, Tyler Blackett and Paddy McNair.

Van Gaal has already suggested that Blind will be first choice at the heart of defence this season, despite being more of a defensive midfielder.

Smalling was favoured at the tail end of last season and so the England man is likely to get the nod over Jones and Rojo.

Evans has been linked with a move away before the end of the window but even if that happens, United should be well stocked at the back.

MIDFIELD

Van Gaal has addressed a major area of concern over the summer by bringing in Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin to help out the ageing Michael Carrick.

But the 34-year-old isn't quite done yet and such is United's record with him involved he will still figure in a good number of games throughout the season.

Van Gaal tried to make a point about Schweinsteiger's fitness during the pre-season tour but it is to be expected that the German World Cup winner will partner Schneiderlin at the base of the midfield in most games.

The pair could play alongside Juan Mata or more likely just behind him. The Spaniard has become a central part of United's creativity and will be essential once again, especially in the Champions League.

Van Gaal got the best out of Marouane Fellaini in the second half of last season and his physicality was a real weapon in some of the big games.

While United must refrain from simply lumping the ball in his direction, the Belgian is a very useful asset in contests against Chelsea and Manchester City for example.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to find room for Ander Herrera, even though the Spaniard was used heavily at the end of last season to good effect.

Herrera is a popular figure with the fans but he is unlikely to take Mata's role and is behind Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin and Carrick in the pecking order too.

FORWARDS

Van Gaal believes United are screaming out for forward players with pace and creativity, though the front trio that will line up this season aren't at all bad.

The likelihood is that captain Wayne Rooney will return to his favoured centre forward role supported by new arrivals Memphis Depay on the left and Pedro on the right.

There were some positive indications during the pre-season matches that Rooney and Depay will link together very effectively.

A similar understanding with Pedro will mean United have a pretty formidable attack. And the Barcelona man's arrival will help alleviate concerns that United are a striker light.

If Rooney was to get injured, the other options are Javier Hernandez - whom Van Gaal rates so highly he sent him out on loan last season - and James Wilson, who struggled for goals.

As we know already, the signing of Depay is bad news for Ashley Young, who looks resigned to a season on the bench despite being excellent last year.

Likely line-up: De Gea/Romero; Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Shaw; Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin; Mata; Pedro, Depay; Rooney

Bench: De Gea/Romero; Jones, Rojo, Herrera, Fellaini, Young, Hernandez

Default Re: Memandang Masa Depan Manchester United

Anthony Martial is just the latest attacking weapon at Louis van Gaal's disposal... so how will Manchester United line up?

* Anthony Martial completed Man United's summer spending on Tuesday
* Louis van Gaal will be satisfied with the squad at his disposal
* He has capability to play a number of different systems in different games
* United could deploy an attack-minded 4-3-3 in home league matches
* A 4-2-3-1 formation will ensure plenty of the ball away in Europe
* Van Gaal could rotate his squad and set up 4-1-4-1 away in the league
* And matches in the Capital One Cup will offer youngsters chance to shine

Despite widespread criticism, Louis van Gaal will feel he has had a good transfer window at Manchester United, adding steel and speed in Matteo Darmian, Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial.

It has certainly given him tough choices in team selection, something the Dutchman could utilise after the international break when the fixtures come thick and fast in the Premier League, Champions League and Capital One Cup.

We assess how Van Gaal could line up in different matches, though the Dutchman is likely to ultimately decide that he knows best.

Saturday, September 12 – v Liverpool (H), Premier League

Arguably still United's biggest home game of the season for the Old Trafford faithful. LVG now has the speed on the flanks to play a 4-3-3 and put Liverpool under pressure.

Not many managers would give Anthony Martial his debut in such an atmosphere, but Van Gaal is the man who sent out a bunch of kids to play AC Milan in a Champions League final – and saw his Ajax team win.

David de Gea will be back in the starting line-up, there is no reason for him not to be, but Van Gaal might be tempted to recall Phil Jones if he has recovered from a calf injury specifically to counter the aerial threat of Christian Benteke.

4-3-3 in the Premier League at Old Trafford: De Gea – Darmian, Smalling, Jones, Shaw – Carrick, Schneiderlin, Herrera – Memphis, Rooney, Martial

How Manchester United may incorporate Martial into a 4-3-3 system for matches at Old Trafford

Tuesday, September 15 – v PSV Eindhoven (A), Champions League

Van Gaal will put an onus on possession even more for European matches and his top priority will be restricting the amount of opposition chances, particularly in away games.

Good ball players like Daley Blind and Juan Mata should feature and there may be a more central role for Memphis who linked up well with Wayne Rooney in the impressive 4-0 play-off win in Bruges.

That result was an identikit of the way Van Gaal wants to perform in Europe but for the group stages you can expect Schneiderlin to return after he was rested in Belgium.

4-2-3-1 in the Champions League: De Gea – Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Shaw – Carrick, Schneiderlin – Mata, Memphis, Young - Rooney

How Manchester United could line-up in a 4-2-3-1 formation to retain the ball away from home in Europe

Sunday, September 20 – v Southampton (A), Premier League

This is a fixture where Van Gaal will feel the benefit of being able to rotate players and formation.

If Michael Carrick, for example, has played the previous two matches, he can get a rest and the more naturally adventurous Schweinsteiger can come in to make an effective 4-1-4-1.

The twin threats of Memphis and Martial on the flanks might be a good ploy for United in away matches in the Premier League. This season has shown that speed on the counter-attack has become more important than ever.

Van Gaal will also use substitutions as a weapon this season with players like Marouane Fellaini offering a different threat, and Carrick and Schweinsteiger in their thirties and able to play 70 minutes at full pelt, rather than 90.

4-1-4-1 in the Premier League away from Old Trafford: De Gea – Darmian, Smalling, Jones, Shaw – Schneiderlin – Memphis, Schweinsteiger, Herrera, Martial - Rooney

A 4-1-4-1 formation could be deployed by Van Gaal away from home in the Premier League

Wednesday September 23 – v Ipswich (h), Capital One Cup

The chance for Van Gaal to try to give some of his squad players a chance in a competition that might allow him to be a little more expansive and play 4-4-2.

Cynics might say he hasn't got enough strikers to use that formation but the manager would argue that Fellaini is a forward and could form a decent little-and-large partnership with youngster James Wilson who likes to run in behind.

The £36m Martial could also be used if he is held back by LVG from earlier games.

This will be a chance for Sergio Romero, Antonio Valencia, Marcos Rojo and Andreas Pereira to show what they can do.

Overall, it looks a stronger team than the United one embarrassed 4-0 at MK Dons in last season's competition

4-4-2 in the Capital One Cup: Romero – Valencia, McNair, Jones, Rojo – Lingaard, Perreira, Mata, Young – Fellaini, Wilson

The Capital One Cup will give some of United's young players the chance to impress Van Gaal

Default Re: Memandang Masa Depan Manchester United

Manchester United are squandering Sir Alex Ferguson's legacy with scattergun spending and a naive hierarchy out of their depth

* The chaos of the collapse of De Gea’s move to Real Madrid served to underline the death of an underlying philosophy at the club
* Why were United prepared to countenance the loss David de Gea that they allowed another star of genuine world class, Angel di Maria, to move away?
* It is more than two years now since Ferguson and chief executive David Gill left and the reality is that the club have still not got their mojo back
* The sense of order and purpose that reigned when Ferguson was in charge has been replaced during each subsequent transfer window by something closer to blind panic

When Manchester United took to the field at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea last Sunday, it was the club’s 3,750th consecutive first-team game to have featured at least one player who has come through the youth system.

It is a remarkable record that stretches back to 1937 and something that United fans are rightly proud of. It is part of the identity of their club, something that runs through it from the Busby Babes to the Class of ’92, but it is also a record increasingly under threat.

The recent loan departures of Adnan Januzaj and Tyler Blackett, the marginalisation of James Wilson and the influx of new signings meant that only goalkeeper Sam Johnstone and defender Paddy McNair kept the record alive at Swansea.

The formidable partnership of Sir Alex Ferguson and David Gill brought United respect and success

Both of them sat on the bench and neither was called on to play. If David de Gea is rehabilitated for the rest of the season, Johnstone will probably lose his place among the substitutes.

When Phil Jones is fit, it is likely there will be no place for McNair. The culture at Old Trafford is changing. It is only a matter of time until the run is broken and when it is, another link to the great days under Sir Alex Ferguson will have been lost.

The sense of that loss quickened last week as United thrashed around at the end of a summer transfer window that had started so well for them. The chaos of the collapse of De Gea’s

Where is the plan? Why were United prepared to countenance the loss of the goalkeeper who has been their best player in the same window that they allowed another star of genuine world class, Angel di Maria, to move away from Old Trafford?

Where is the sense of direction here? Where is the long-term recruitment policy? What has happened to the idea that United never sold their best players? It is more than two years now since Ferguson and chief executive David Gill left and the reality is that the club have still not got their mojo back. They are still in a state of flux.

The sense of order and purpose that reigned when Ferguson was in charge has been replaced during each subsequent transfer window by something closer to blind panic.

It has not been particularly dignified, either. This summer, United were very obviously used by Sergio Ramos in order to secure him a new deal at Real Madrid. They got played but United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward couldn’t seem to see it.

Ed Woodward's spell in charge of United has coincided with a downturn in fortunes on the pitch

The pursuit of Pedro and the Barcelona player’s decision to join Chelsea instead was humiliating as well. Bids to prise Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo from Madrid and Thomas Muller from Bayern Munich have come to nought.

It is not that everyone disagrees with the method. It is just that, apart from waving a very large cheque book at everything that moves, it is hard to see any method at all.

Paying a king’s ransom for a player like Luis Suarez or Muller would be understandable but to blow up to £58million on a talented but largely untried Anthony Martial on the last day of the window felt like a sign of desperation.

Was the willingness to jettison De Gea and the signing of a French teenager a sign that United have given up on the title this season and are planning for the next campaign already? Again, it is difficult to discern a plan in any of this.

United’s squad has now cost just more than £389m to assemble, which makes it the third costliest in Europe behind Real Madrid and Manchester City. City and Madrid at least appear to be reaping the rewards of their spending. United do not. It would be fair to say they have not got an awful lot of bang for their buck.

At least they are spending money. Arsenal fans must envy them that. But it is not targeted spending. It’s a scattergun. Success has been limited. Di Maria didn’t settle, De Gea wants to leave, Marcos Rojo is at odds with manager Louis van Gaal.

Remember the days of City’s bullish former chief executive Garry Cook, days when City were mocked as naive arrivistes who did not have the class or the pedigree to cope with the big time? Remember when Cook accused a club of AC Milan’s stature of ‘bottling it’ over City’s attempt to buy Kaka from them?

United are being portrayed in that kind of light now. United under Woodward are gaining a reputation as a club whose hierarchy is out of its depth. It lacks know-how. It is naive.

It is still a wonderful, wonderful club but the people in charge don’t seem to understand it. They know an awful lot about value but not much about worth. They know what to sell but not what to cherish.

In the summer transfer window, more than at any other time since Ferguson left, it also felt as if Woodward and his cohorts were beginning to squander the legacy bequeathed by the Scot.

Not just in the way that United’s style of football has changed, something often referenced by ex-players like Gary Neville.

But also in the chaotic approach to signings and the loss of balance between players imported from other clubs and those brought through the youth system.

United have more spending power than ever but money cannot buy sound judgment. Bit by bit, the wisdom that once pervaded the club is ebbing away.

Manchester United squad assessment: New manager will need to ship out deadwood if Louis van Gaal is shown the door

* Manchester United news: Click here for all the latest from Old Trafford
* Louis van Gaal is expected to be replaced by Jose Mourinho in summer
* United supporters will be hoping new manager continues to blood youth
* Michael Carrick's future is uncertain as veteran midfielder is out of contract

Manchester United's top brass will be gearing up for a crucial summer with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward being tasked with making a final decision over Louis van Gaal's future.

Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is the odds-on favourite to replace Van Gaal if the Dutchman is to be moved on.

As well as making a managerial change, United are expected to once again go all out for a world superstar to boost their chances of competing for major honours.

United's pulling power of attracting top stars will diminish if they fail to qualify for next season's Champions League, however Van Gaal's side are just one point behind fourth spot.

Here, Sportsmail assesses Manchester United's squad going into the final eight games of the season and looks forward to the following campaign.

Goalkeepers

Despite signing a new four-year deal in September, David de Gea is again expected to be the subject of interest from La Liga giants Real Madrid.

De Gea, who has managed to settle back into life at Old Trafford following a summer of unrest last year, came within minutes of sealing a move to the Santiago Bernabeu on the final day of the transfer window.

Real Madrid No 1 Keylor Navas was included in the proposed £29million transfer, however the required paperwork was not exchanged before the Spanish transfer window closed.

United have been linked with Barcelona's Marc-Andre ter Stegen as the German is growing frustrated with the rotation policy at the Nou Camp, while they could also renew their interest in Navas.

Deputy goalkeeper Sergio Romero has recently played down reports suggesting he could return to Argentina, insisting he is happy at Old Trafford.

La Liga giants Real Madrid may choose to go back in for Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea

Defenders

Chris Smalling's progression has been one of the few positives to come out of Van Gaal's topsy-turvy reign at the club with the centre back adding consistency to his game.

The same cannot be said for his fellow countryman Phil Jones, who has spent the majority of the season in the treatment room.

A new manager may choose to give the former Blackburn man one more chance to impress but the 24-year-old is running out of time if he is to become an Old Trafford regular.

Daley Blind, who can be deployed at centre back, left back and in midfield, has proved to be a valuable addition to the squad while Luke Shaw's return will be a huge boost.

Argentina international Marcos Rojo, who has filled in for Shaw when fit, has done enough to prolong his stay at Old Trafford for another campaign.

United are in desperate need of a top-class defender to join Smalling at the heart of defence having failed in their attempt to lure Sergio Ramos away from Real Madrid.

Mourinho will try to entice Raphael Varane to Old Trafford if he is to replace Van Gaal, while Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly is also being considered.

At right back, Matteo Darmian will be hoping to prove his worth after a slow but steady first season in England, while Antonio Valencia and Guillermo Varela are able deputies for the Italian.

Paddy McNair and Tyler Blackett, who has been on loan at Celtic, could both move on after failing to cement a place in the first-team squad.

Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane will be targeted by United if Mourinho replaces Van Gaal

Midfielders

United's engine room could be the subject of more change with Michael Carrick's contract coming to an end and Marouane Fellaini heading for the exit door.

Fellaini, who joined the club during David Moyes' nightmare nine-month stint at the club, has recently been booed by his own supporters and has failed to live up to expectations since his £27.5m move from Everton.

Ander Herrera is a target for Atletico Madrid and Juventus, while Juan Mata's long-term future at the club will be far from certain if Mourinho becomes manager.

Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin will be hoping to make more of an impact next season after making quiet starts to their United careers.

Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini is expected to leave Old Trafford in the summer

Jesse Lingard has gone from strength to strength this season, while Ashley Young's versatility is invaluable.

Youngsters Andreas Pereira and Adnan Januzaj may decide they want to move on in either temporary or permanent deals after spending the majority of the season on the bench or in the stands.

United have been linked with a move for Benfica's £46million-rated starlet Renato Sanches.

Their scouts have continually cast their eyes over the 18-year-old Portuguese midfielder.

Long-term target Toni Kroos remains on the agenda at Old Trafford with Manchester City and PSG also interested in the Germany international.

United are close to finalising a deal for Feyenoord midfielder Tahith Chong.

The 16-year-old has been on the club's radar for just over 18 months after impressing scouts while playing in the Premier Cup tournament.

The Red Devils could also do with a speedy winger in the mould of a young Cristiano Ronaldo as Memphis Depay has struggled for form and consistency in his first year at the club.

Portuguese starlet Renato Sanches (right) is being watched by United after starring for Benfica

Strikers

Anthony Martial has proved to be a superb acquisition but United have relied heavily on the 20-year-old Frenchman.

Captain Wayne Rooney will lead the club in his 13th season at Old Trafford, while Marcus Rashford will be dipped in and out of the side after bursting on to the scene.

United are in desperate need of more firepower, having scored just 38 Premier League goals this season.

PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been linked with a summer move to United, with the 34-year-old set to leave Parc des Princes on a free transfer at the end of June.

Sweden international and PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will become a free agent in the summer

A move for Ibrahimovic would ease the burden on Rooney and the experienced forward could help Martial and Rashford realise their full potential.

Ibrahimovic, who played under Mourinho at Inter Milan, is more likely to seal a move to Old Trafford if the Portuguese tactician is appointed manager.

Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is said to be United's No 1 summer target with the Gabon international likely to cost in the region of £70m.

Aubameyang will be highly sought after having scored 22 Bundesliga goals this season.

James Wilson could be loaned out to Brighton for another season if they gain promotion to the top-flight.

Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is said to be United's top summer target

Default Re: Memandang Masa Depan Manchester United

Why Lukaku is the Ideal Replacement for Rooney

As the season is drawing to a close, Manchester United are spectacularly in the running for one of the four European spots despite a largely uninspiring season under Louis Van Gaal. Having sold three forwards since his arrival, the Dutchman has somehow managed to keep his side in the running for the Champions League places and possible silverware in the form of the FA Cup, thanks to youngsters Anthony Martial and more recently Marcus Rashford, covering for their captain’s prolonged absence from the squad due to an ankle ligament tear.

2015 has not been Rooney’s best year and if anything, it has turned out to be his worst statistically, since he broke onto the scene as an abrasive 16-year old tipped for a great future in 2004. Age is catching up with the England and Manchester United skipper and at 30-years old it is hard to expect him to play at a level he used to, two or even three times a week on a consistent basis. Whether or not he could prolong his playing career by shifting to a deeper midfield role remains an interesting debate but for Manchester United, it’s time they looked for able replacements – as they prepare to face another potentially huge summer.

The problems for United this season has not been at the back. In fact, for all the flak they get for giving away plenty of chances in games and fielding a makeshift back four almost always in the Premier League under Van Gaal, they have a really good defensive record this season – as only Spurs have conceded fewer goals in the league, thanks to Chris Smalling’s improvement and David De Gea’s towering presence in front of the sticks. They seem to have struggled at the other end, as United have failed to produce the goals, often drawing blanks against sides they should not, in fact leading to a league high 0-0 number of scorelines.

Manchester United have only managed to score 38 in 30 games this campaign, the fewest they have managed at this stage of the season in the Premier League era with the likes of Everton, West Ham, and Southampton managing more. Even suffering their worst season since Abramovich’s takeover, Chelsea have still raked in seven more goals than Man United, who sit three places above them in the league table. All of this points toward the need to buy a forward who could score 20 goals in the league, a focal point of attack, to quote Van Gaal here, that United can build their playing style around.

One would argue that United already posses a forward of that calibre in French teenager Anthony Martial but what they need now is a player who can make the difference right from the word go – a proven forward who can keep himself fit and sustain his level for a long period in the league. Fortunately, they should look no further than Everton’s Lukaku who fits the description to a tee.

Romelu Lukaku has excelled at Everton since his permanent move to the Merseyside club on the back of his short and unsuccessful career at Chelsea. His loan stint at West Bromwich Albion got him acclimatised to the demands of the league but ever since he moved North, he’s been unstoppable. The Belgian has got it all in his locker. Similar to Rooney in several aspects, the Belgian made his debut when he was still at school, likes to keep the defenders occupied with his well-timed runs from the inside channels, deceptively quick and also has powerful shot.

Add to it his aerial ability and the fact that he is on the verge of scoring 20 goals for the first time in his career in England’s top division, Lukaku is a player who is bound to go places. He knows the league as well as anyone, is not fazed by the big occasion, in fact the 22-year old Belgian has confessed his desire to play for a bigger club (no disrespect to Everton meant), while his agent Mino Raiola was recently quoted saying Lukaku was ‘ready’ for the big European clubs indicating the Belgian’s desire to move in the summer, if the right offer came calling. Raiola talking about his client in a closed-doors interview said,

Quote:
“He’ll be even better. It all depends on his work, a bit of luck, and making the right choices. Potential wise, he’s already ready to play in the best European teams. I’m not surprised at all. Romelu is superior physically and humanely to a lot of players. He’s got a heart of gold, which is very important in football, but also a lot of talent. Since we’ve been working together, we’ve put together a structure that allows him to only think about football. This allows him to focus solely on his personal objectives, which, in the end, is the most important.”
Manchester United would fall into that category certainly as Romelu Lukaku even dropped a hint saying he used to love watching teams like Manchester United and Bayern Munich sticking to attacking football and winning games. Although, things have rather changed at Old Trafford, it should not deter a youngster from wanting to move to a bigger club, in the same region, who could also offer the chance to play in Europe, which Everton are not likely to offer next season.

Having scored 25 goals this season in all competitions, Lukaku could just be that player Manchester United need to take their promising talent up front to the next level that would give them the luxury of options they require to be more competitive than they have been post Sir Alex. With the asking price of more than £50-million being mooted by Everton’s hierarchy, not many football clubs in Europe, let alone England, can afford to fork that much money out, but if Manchester United with their unrivalled cash reserves are to reinforce their squad with proven young talent there should be no hesitation in doing so.

Default Re: Memandang Masa Depan Manchester United

Manchester United’s possible lineup under Jose Mourinho

Formation : 4-3-3

GK : David De Gea
The Spanish Goalkeeper has once again been sensational this season with his outstanding reflexes and spectacular saves. He is arguable one of the best goalkeepers in the world currently and Jose Mourinho would give everything to keep the Spaniard at United next season to provide great comfort between the posts.

RB : Matteo Darmian
The Italian showed great form at the start of the season but with injuries and United’s poor play, Darmian’s form took a dip too but nevertheless he is still a quality full back who can be of immense on either side of the defense. With a more open style under Mourinho, Darmian’s form should get better.

CB : Chris Smalling
One of the good things that happened to United this season is the invention of a solid and sharp centre back in Chris Smalling. The Englishman has shown great form at the back and has been a strong figure in the United’s lineup. It will be no surprise that Mourinho will love a player of Smalling’s quality in the starting lineup.

CB : Raphael Varane
The Frenchman is unsettled at Madrid with lack of game time and is very likely to move away from the Bernabeu next season. Mourinho was the one who signed him for Madrid and he sure can lure Varane to join United. With Smalling and Varane at the center of the defense, it would be a very difficult defense to break down.

LB : Luke Shaw
The young Englishman suffered a horrible injury earlier in the season which ruled him out for the major part of the season but he will be back fresh next season. Shaw is one of the hottest prospects for England and he sure can go a long way with his quickness and understanding for both England and Manchester United.

CDM : Morgan Schneiderlin
The defensive midfielder has had a mixed spell under Louis Van Gaal but as we had seen with Matic, Morgan will be handed the responsibility to protect the back four under Mourinho. Schneiderlin is best effective in the holding role and without any hesitance Mourinho will assign that duty to the Frenchman.

CM : Ander Herrera
The Spaniard has struggled to get as much game time as he would have liked under Van Gaal but under Mourinho he shall get more time with his tenacity and aggression in the midfield, something that has always impressed Mourinho. His workrate will be something Mourinho would like to explore more.

CM : James Rodriguez
The Colombian is a player of the highest quality and it is a surprise how less frequently he is used at Madrid these days. Both James and Jose have the same agent in Jorge Mendes and it is likely that the Portuguese can bring James to Old Trafford. With his fine passing and amazing technique, James can be very influential in United’s midfield.

RW : Antoine Griezmann
The Frenchman is impressing critics time and again and it is about time he moves away from Atletico Madrid. Jose wanted him at Chelsea and it won’t come as a surprise if he wants to bring him at United. Griezmann can be effective both centrally and on the wings and will be of immense use to Jose.

LW : Anthony Martial
The 20 year old Frenchman has amazed everyone with his wonderful dribbling and sharp play upfront. As he has shown, Martial is very difficult to stop when on song. The pace and skills Martial provides will be without a doubt very helpful to Mourinho. Martial might just be Jose’s go-to man when in desperate need of goals.

ST : Pierre Emerick Aubameyang
The Gabonese has shone brightly this season with his superb performances upfront for Dortmund. His pace and clinical finishing has landed him with the interest of some of the top European clubs. Pace has always amazed Jose and with United being linked with Aubameyang recently, Jose can definitely bring him to United. Aubameyang might just be the last piece of the jigsaw for Jose and United.
