Re: [2018/19] FA Cup

Re: [2018/19] FA Cup
EMIRATES FA CUP SEMI-FINAL DATE ANNOUNCED
Manchester United have discovered when we will play Chelsea in our Emirates FA Cup semi-final clash at Wembley. The Reds qualified for the last-four stage after eliminating Norwich City in the quarter-finals and beat Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tranmere Rovers and Derby County in the previous rounds. As for Chelsea, a 1-0 victory over Leicester City last weekend ensured their passage to the semi-finals. Frank Lampard's men have also overcome Nottingham Forest, Hull City and Liverpool so far this season. The Reds and the Blues were paired together in the semi-finals and it has been confirmed the game will take place on Sunday 19 July, at 18:00 BST. The match will be broadcast live in the UK on the BBC and, like all fixtures since football's resumption, will be played behind closed doors. The other semi-final, between Arsenal and Manchester City, will be played the day before, with the winners set to meet either United or Chelsea in the final. The semi-final with Chelsea will actually be our fourth meeting of the season. United have enjoyed our previous encounters in 2019/20 - winning 4-0 on the opening day of the Premier League season and then beating Frank Lampard’s men 2-0 in the reverse fixture in February. We also locked horns with the Londoners during October’s Carabao Cup last-16 tie. Again, it was the Reds who came out on top, thanks to a Marcus Rashford double. This will also be the fourth year in a row we have faced Chelsea in the FA Cup, and the fixture will see a re-run of the 1994, 2007 and 2018 finals. The 2020 Heads Up FA Cup Final is scheduled for Saturday 1 August at Wembley Stadium, connected by EE. FULL SEMI-FINAL LINE-UP: SATURDAY 18 JULY 2020 Arsenal v Manchester City (19:45 BST) – Live on BT Sport 1 & BT Sport Ultimate SUNDAY 19 JULY 2020 Manchester United v Chelsea (18:00 BST) – Live on BBC One & BBC iPlayer HTML Code:

Re: [2018/19] FA Cup
Premier League clubs want FA Cup third and fourth rounds moved to midweek and replays abolished amid row over 2020-21 calendar
* Stand-off developing between Premier League and FA over 2020-21 fixtures * Top-flight clubs want FA Cup replays abolished and matches moved to midweek * Premier League sides will discuss next season's fixture list on Thursday Premier League clubs want the FA Cup's third and fourth rounds to become midweek ties without replays, in a growing row over next season's fixture list. As revealed by Sportsmail last month, a stand-off is developing between the Premier League and the FA over the number of weekend fixture slots they can use next season, which is expected to be shortened due to this season over-running. Top-flight clubs will discuss next season's fixture list on Thursday, with two alternative start dates of August 29 and September 12 under consideration, although both would leave them short of the 34 weekends required to complete a campaign. As a result the Premier League are expected to demand that FA Cup replays are abolished from the third round onwards — the point at which the top two tiers enter the competition. The FA are prepared to consider scrapping replays, but will fight to protect third and fourth-round weekend. Weekend kick-offs are far more valuable to broadcasters and commercial partners, and are particularly important to overseas media organisations who have paid £800million for FA Cup TV rights until 2024. Premier League clubs want FA Cup's third and fourth rounds to be midweek without replays. The FA will fight to protect third and fourth-round weekend on the road to Wembley next year In addition to their contractual obligations to broadcasters, the FA will argue that they have already shown considerable flexibility by moving the FA Cup fifth round to a midweek slot last season, and will do so again by agreeing to remove the winter break after just one year. The FA have worked closely with the Premier League over the last few months to help facilitate the resumption of the domestic season, but the stand-off over midweek fixtures will be difficult to resolve. One possible solution is for the Premier League to offer compensation to the FA for passing up one or two of the weekends that they use in the current format. Code:
