AC Milan 'keen to make Diogo Dalot's loan move permanent' with Serie A side 'planning negotiations with Manchester United in January' over Portuguese full-back

* AC Milan signed full-back Diogo Dalot on a season-long loan from Man United
* Reports in Italy suggest that the Italian club are exploring a permanent deal
* Milan have a hectic schedule and Dalot is expected to get plenty of game time

AC Milan are reportedly ready to enter negotiations with Manchester United to turn Diogo Dalot's loan deal permanent in January.

The 21-year-old was out of favour at Old Trafford and boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sanctioned his exit with Aaron Wan-Bissaka the first choice right back.

Milan have a hectic schedule coming up and so Dalot, who joined on loan, is expected to get plenty of game-time in Italy under Stefano Pioli.

Tuttosport reported on Tuesday that AC Milan are ready to re-enter negotiations with Manchester United to turn Dalot's loan deal permanent.

Dalot, who is yet to make an appearance for the Serie A side, could be handed his debut in the Milan derby on Saturday, provided that game goes ahead with doubts over opponents Inter Milan.

Inter have had six people test positive for Covid-19, with Dalot's former United team-mate Ashley Young the latest to enter quarantine.

Diogo Dalot joined AC Milan from Manchester United on a season-long loan this summer. AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli is expected to make use of Dalot in such a hectic schedule

While Milan are reportedly keen to make his switch to the San Siro permanent, Dalot will still have to make an impression under Pioli.

Davide Calabria has been in that role of late but Dalot will be confident he can make the grade and make the spot his own once he settles in.

Dalot has only played once in the 2020-21 season, appearing in Manchester United's Carabao Cup win over Brighton.

The Red Devils announced the deal on their website, stating: 'Everyone at United wishes Diogo the best of luck for his stay in Italy.'

Dalot arrived at Old Trafford for £20million from Porto in the summer of 2018 and has since then featured 35 times across all competitions.

AC Milan 'keen to make Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot's loan spell permanent for £15m' after impressive spell at the Serie A leaders

* Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot has impressed on loan at AC Milan
* The Serie A leaders are keen to make the deal for the 21-year-old permanent
* However they wish to pay less than the £19m United paid Porto for Dalot in 2018

Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot is wanted by AC Milan on a permanent deal after impressing on-loan this season.

The 21-year-old has been a regular since joining the Rossoneri on loan, with the club sitting top of the Serie A standings at the half-way stage.

Dalot has made 16 appearances in all competitions so far this campaign, proving to be a crucial part of the club's upturn in form on recent years.

The Sun have now reported that AC Milan have approached Manchester United over a potential £15m permanent transfer this summer.

The Portuguese full-back joined United in the summer of 2018 for £19m but has made just 20 Premier League appearances since his arrival.

Dalot is content with life in Milan and is believed to be happy with the thought of extending his stay with the club whether permanently or another loan spell.

Milan like many in Europe will struggle to splash huge sums on players due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so United might take a hit on what they payed if they sell the youngster.

Diogo Dalot is happy with life in Italy and is enjoying a successful loan spell at AC Milan. The full-back has been a regular for the Rossoneri who currently sit top of the Serie A table. Dalot joined Manchester United in 2018 for £19m but struggled to find regular game-time

The Red Devils have not yet decided on Dalot's future and they are monitoring his progress closely.

However Dalot normally plays as a right-back, a position which is commanded currently by Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

He can also play as a left-back though United have plenty of options on that side including Luke Shaw, Alex Telles and Brandon Williams.

Manchester United outcast Diogo Dalot is slammed by the Italian media for his 'disastrous' and 'horrible' performance in AC Milan's shock loss to Spezia, with permanent move to the San Siro this summer now in doubt

* Diogo Dalot's future at AC Milan is in doubt after a poor performance at Spezia
* Italian media described Dalot as 'disastrous' during Milan's defeat on Saturday
* Dalot joined on loan from Man United but he could be sent back to Old Trafford
* The 21-year-old has started just five league games for Stefan Pioli's side

Diogo Dalot is likely to return to Manchester United with AC Milan loan star slammed by the Italian media following a disastrous performance in the Rossoneri's loss to Spezia over the weekend.

Stefan Pioli's side lost ground in the Serie A title race in a surprise 2-0 defeat by their midtable rivals, with Dalot making just his fifth start for the side since joining on loan from the Red Devils last summer.

But it was a day to forget for the Portuguese defender, with the Italian press heaping criticism on the 21-year-old.

Diogo Dalot's AC Milan future is in doubt following a 'horrible' performance against Spezia. The 21-year-old failed to impress in his fifth league start of the season as Milan lost 2-0

Milan News described his display as 'disastrous' and 'horrible' while Sky Italia pundit Stefano De Grandis dubbed him 'the worst' player on the pitch. Milan Live added that Dalot had a 'largely negative performance, which was rejected by everyone.

‘It is not the first time that Dalot has not shown himself up to par,' the latter outlet added. 'Apart from the San Siro match against Europa League opponents Sparta Prague, in which he scored a goal and an assist, his performances have never been really positive.’

Dalot joined the ambitious Italian side in October in desperate need of kickstarting his career, having endured a miserable season at Old Trafford with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer not favouring the full back.

Dalot joined in the hope of kickstarting his career after falling down the United pecking order. The Italian press expects Dalot to return to United if he cannot improve his performances

The Portuguese joined the Red Devils from Porto in 2018 and was utilised by Jose Mourinho, but inconsistent performances saw him drop down the pecking order.

The 21-year-old will need to turn things around if he is to have any chance of making his stay in Milan a permanent one, with Italian media of the view that the Rossoneri will send him back to Manchester should these displays continue.

Last month, Dalot bemoaned a series of injuries that hampered his development as Aaron Wan-Bisakka and Brandon Williams seized their chances in the starting eleven.

'Of course, the feeling is a little deeper, more because I didn't have the time I liked physically,' he told Record.

'I spent great moments at United. I played very important games for me and the team.

'I left with a bit of a bittersweet feeling for not being physically available for all those games I lost due to injury.

'But it is what it is. I wouldn't change anything because what I learned was very important for my future and how I am now.

'I don't regret it or look back with disappointment.'

Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot 'yet to open talks on permanent Old Trafford exit' with Portugal star set to face parent club with AC Milan in the Europa League knockouts

* Diogo Dalot has been spending the season on loan in Italy with AC Milan
* The 21-year-old Portuguese full-back fell out of favour at Old Trafford
* After signing Dalot for £17.4m ex-boss Jose Mourinho hailed him as Europe's best
* Player's agent confirms no talks have been held regarding a permanent exit

Manchester United are yet to open talks with outcast defender Diogo Dalot regarding a permanent exit from the club, according to the agent of the Portuguese youngster.

Dalot has been spending the season on loan with Italian giants AC Milan, who United happen to face on Thursday in the knockout stages of the Europa League.

In 10 league appearances this season for Milan Dalot has one goal to his name, and has played his part in helping the San Siro side rocket back to the top end of the Italian top flight. He has also featured eight times in the Europa League, scoring once.

But despite an upturn in form Dalot's future remains unclear, with his agent this week outlining that things will come together 'at the right time.'

Dalot's representative, Carlos Goncalves, told Italian publication Calciomercato: 'When he came to Milan, he knew he was arriving at a great club for history and tradition, one of the best in the world. For this, he chose the Rossoneri.

'And when you play for a team like this, it's normal to compete for the Scudetto. There's an excellent relationship with [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic and the other team-mates, he's happy in Milan.

Diogo Dalot will face his parent club with AC Milan despite his United future remaining unclear. Dalot had featured 10 times in the league for Milan this season and scored on one occasion. Former United boss Jose Mourinho once hailed Dalot as Europe's best for his age group

'Thursday will be a very special match for him. Right now he's a Milan player, on loan from Manchester United, but he wants to do well for his current club. If he was playing against another team, it wouldn't have been different.

'At the right time, his future will also be discussed. He has to train at his best and take advantage of every opportunity, the rest will take care of itself.

'There’s no contact now, but it’s normal. The focus is all on the field. Later we will talk about it and we’ll see what happens.'

Much hype surrounded the signing of Dalot when United brought him to English football as a raw 19-year-old in 2018 for the costly sum of £17.4million.

Then manager at the time Jose Mourinho hailed the youngster as 'the best full back in Europe' for his age group, sending waves of excitement through the United fan-base.

In October 2020 Milan confirmed the season-long loan capture of Dalot as United sanctioned the move following a breakthrough in their pursuit of Alex Telles.

Since his arrival Dalot featured 35 times in all competitions for United, and is widely expected to be sold this summer as boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to raise funds for a spending spree.

dikontrak peminjaman gak dikasih klausula Dalot gak boleh melawan parent club yah? walaupun gak selalu jadi starter namun performa Dalot di Milan cukup bagus, terakhir vs Verona malah cetak 1 gol

WHAT DOES OLE MAKE OF DIOGO AT MILAN?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking forward to seeing Diogo Dalot again, when the full-back’s loan club AC Milan go up against Manchester United at Old Trafford tonight (Thursday).

The Portuguese defender joined the Italians on a season-long deal in October and has made 20 appearances so far for the Rossoneri, scoring two goals, including one in Sunday's 2-0 win at Hellas Verona.

In his matchday Q&A, Ole communicated his happiness at seeing Diogo feature for one of Europe's giants, and said it would be good for fans to see just how he is getting along first-hand.

Ole, firstly congratulations to John Murtough and Darren Fletcher on their new appointments at the club…

“Yeah, definitely. It’s an exciting appointment, of course. Darren came in a few months ago and now he steps into this position as well and of course I’ve worked with John since I came to the club. It’s a continuation, or we’re building on what we’ve been working on. We’re a work in progress but it’s something we’re really passionate about: to work on the culture in the club, work on the Academy and all parts of the club.”

Turning our attention to the game, what’s the latest team news in terms of your injuries?

“Yeah still a few players unavailable, so we’ll be without David [De Gea], Phil Jones of course, Paul [Pogba]’s not ready. Donny [van de Beek] won’t be ready. Juan [Mata] won’t be ready. Edinson [Cavani is] not there yet and Marcus [Rashford] is probably out as well. So there’s quite a long list there, but look at the ones who are available instead.”

Yeah, it’s a growing list but I guess there’s a lot of football being played and these things do accumulate over a season, but there’s still plenty of talent at your disposal…

“Yes, of course. We’re in good form. The mental boost Sunday [the 2-0 win at Manchester City] gave us, the morale boost, confidence boost – of course, we’re looking forward to this one. It’s a big game and a great club that we’re playing against. They’ve got the tradition, the history, quality, they’ve got class. It’s always been a club we’ve had good relationships with.”

It’s always been a club admired throughout the footballing world and again it’s another Europa League tie which feels like a Champions League match…

“That’s just the way it is and this is definitely one for the supporters to have a look at. I feel Milan as well, have an exciting new team, a young team, even though Zlatan [Ibrahimovic]’s playing! He comes in and gives them the experience. But they’ve rebuilt and now they’re second in the league and challenging to win [it]. Of course, it’s a good, good challenge for us.”

It’s just a shame Ibra isn’t available for the first game, it’s a shame for the footballing world watching of course. Diogo Dalot does return to Old Trafford, though…

“Diogo has done really well, he scored a very good goal this weekend and he’s enjoying his time over there. It’s a chance to have a look at him for both sets of fans. We’re very happy with Diogo, that he went there to get the experience of playing for such a massive, iconic club and getting the standards required every single week.”

In the current climate, does it really matter which leg is first, home or away?

“No, I don’t think so. I’ve never been too fussed about home or away first. Sometimes to have the away game last might be a good thing because if you do your job here at home, you’ve got a good starting point. Of course, it’s two massive games and we’ve got the league and FA Cup in [March] as well, so we’ve still got many, many things to focus on.”

Just on some of the memorable encounters we’ve had with AC Milan in the past. You were in the squad in 2007, didn’t get on the pitch unfortunately when they beat us on aggregate, but there have been some really terrific battles between us and Milan over the years…

“Yeah, fantastic games. I remember the goals Kaka scored at Old Trafford [in the 3-2 win], what a tremendous footballer he was. I still remember loads of games and you know the team with [Andrea] Pirlo and [Gennaro] Gattuso and [Clarence] Seedorf and all them. It was a fantastic team.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer 'looking forward' to having Diogo Dalot back at Old Trafford next season following a productive loan spell with AC Milan... appearing to rule out permanent Manchester United exit this summer

* Diogo Dalot is enjoying a productive loan spell in Italy right now with AC Milan
* Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said fitness was the aim of Dalot's loan
* Solskjaer is 'looking forward to having him back' at Old Trafford next season

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed he is 'looking forward' to welcoming Diogo Dalot back into Manchester United's squad next season in the clearest indication yet the right-back will not be sold this summer.

Dalot, 22, fell behind Aaron Wan-Bissaka at Old Trafford and having found fitness difficult to come by he was sent to AC Milan on a season-long loan.

The Portuguese defender has enjoyed consistent minutes with Milan, has remained fit and Solskjaer, speaking ahead of facing AC Milan in the Europa League last-16, described it as a 'good year' for Dalot.

Diogo Dalot has revitalised his career with a productive loan spell in Italy with AC Milan. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said he is 'looking forward' to welcoming Dalot back at Man United

'The plan was always for Diogo this season, or the main thing for Diogo, was to be fit,' Solskjaer said.

'He never managed to be fit for a long spell when he was here and was unfortunate with injuries.

'Now he's kept fit all season; he's been available for them. He's playing at a big club, big expectations and a great history, so it's been a good year for him.

Dalot (left) fell down the pecking order at United and struggled to get consistent matches

'So, of course, I've been very pleased with his development this season. He's our player and we're looking forward to having him back.'

Dalot made the move to Manchester from Porto in 2018 but only managed to make 35 appearances across two seasons.

Things have been different in Italy as he has made 23 appearances for Milan so far this season, scoring twice.

Dalot, guided expertly by boss Stefano Pioli, has started 17 of those 23 games, proving an key figure in Milan's defence as they push for the Serie A title as well as the Europa League.

He has been a regular in Milan under Stefano Pioli and Solskjaer described it as a 'good year'. Dalot (right) came up against United last week in the first leg of their last-16 Europa League tie

United are targeting competition for places at right back for Wan-Bissaka and have been credited with an interest in Atletico Madrid's Kieran Trippier.

But Dalot's impressive season in Milan could well alter recruitment plans when he returns to Manchester this summer.

Dalot's current side, AC Milan, host United at the San Siro on Thursday in the second leg of their last-16 Europa League tie.

Milan hold a narrow advantage after defender Simon Kjaer scored a late header at Old Trafford to hand Pioli's side a precious away goal.

AC Milan step up bid to make Diogo Dalot's loan move a permanent one 'as they open talks with Manchester United over a £12m deal'... despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer talking up his Old Trafford return this month

* Diogo Dalot is enjoying a productive loan spell in Italy right now with AC Milan
* The Serie A side are reportedly keen to keep him - opening with a £12m offer
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer talked up Dalot's return to Old Trafford earlier this month
* He has previous of extending the olive branch before eventually selling players

AC Milan have reportedly opened talks with Manchester United over making Diogo Dalot's loan move a permanent one - opening with an offer of £12million.

Dalot, 22, departed United on a season-long loan for the San Siro last summer and has been a revelation for Milan boss Stefano Pioli.

Having fallen behind Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the pecking order at United, Metro report that Dalot's revival in Milan has seen the Serie A side press on with talks to keep him.

Earlier this month United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed he is 'looking forward' to welcoming Dalot back into Manchester United's squad next season in what appeared to be the clearest indication yet the righ -back will not be sold this summer.

But that could now prove to not be the case with Milan determined to keep hold of a player that has revived his career in Italy.

Dalot made the move to United from Porto in 2018 for £18m but a mix of poor form and fitness kept him in and out of the side.

Wan-Bissaka arrived from Crystal Palace and quickly became the No 1 option down the right, limiting Dalot's opportunities.

Dalot faced up against United in the Europa League earlier this month and Solskjaer spoke glowingly about the defender, insisting he had a future in Manchester.

'The plan was always for Diogo this season, or the main thing for Diogo, was to be fit,' Solskjaer had said.

'He never managed to be fit for a long spell when he was here and was unfortunate with injuries.

'Now he's kept fit all season; he's been available for them. He's playing at a big club, big expectations and a great history, so it's been a good year for him.

'So, of course, I've been very pleased with his development this season. He's our player and we're looking forward to having him back.'

But Solskjaer has a history of extending the olive branch to out-of-favour players, only to later sign off on their departures.

Solskjaer told reporters Alexis Sanchez would return from a loan spell at Inter Milan to 'prove you all wrong', only to allow the Chilean to stay at the San Siro.

Chris Smalling, who seemed to get his mojo back at AS Roma, was also talked up by Solskjaer before he too sealed a permanent switch, failing to play for United again.

It is anticipated that it will take a fee closer to £18m, rather than £12m, for Milan to have any hope of striking a deal to keep Dalot.
